Jane Lynch channels Anne Robinson on The Weakest Link

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Lynch channels Anne Robinson when she hosts the American version of ‘The Weakest Link’.
The ‘Glee’ star has been presenting a revived version of the hit British game show since 2020 and Jane has confessed she is following the “prototype” set by Anne, who hosted the BBC series for 12 years and became known for her cutting exchanges with the contestants.
Jane told The Hollywood Reporter: “Anne Robinson set a fantastic prototype for me to follow. I just brought my own version of what she does, which, nobody can do what she does. She was such a master …
“None of them [the contestants] are really afraid of me; it’s not like I’m Hannibal Lecter. They know the drill. I’m probably going to say some insulting things, but I think it’s all in good fun. I’ve never seen anybody take it personally.”
Jane went on to add she likes to strike a balance between being a comedic host and creating a “safe space” for contestants to play the game.
She explained: “I like making it a safe space for the players so all they have to worry about is playing the game well. I have such adoration for the contestants, too. I don’t know how they do it.
“I wouldn’t be able to come up with those answers while the clock is ticking and all of America is looking at you. I think it’s a pretty herculean task on their part, and they always step up so superbly.”
Jane – who also serves as an executive producer – added of the job: “I’m a controlling person. I like being in charge.”
The actress previously compared hosting the show to an episode of hit fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’, telling Awards Radar: “I get to be kind of snarky, and that’s kind of fun for the most part.
“‘The Weakest Link’ is very dramatic. We have the music, and we have the light cues, and we banish people. It’s almost like ‘Game of Thrones’ the game show, and I love getting into that.”

Shania Twain: ‘Glastonbury is a wow moment in my career’

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain says Glastonbury is a “real wow moment in my career”.
The 58-year-old singer / songwriter is excited to play the Worthy Farm festival in Somerset, England this week and insisted she doesn’t care what the weather is like.
Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio’s Ken Bruce in a new interview, which is exclusively available now on new audio app Rayo, she said: “It’s a wow. A real wow moment in my career. It’s such a one of a kind. The closer it comes, the more everybody tells me about it in their own individual stories as well their own experiences. Everyone seems to be such a dedicated fan of the festival, it sounds as though it’s a very bonding experience for everybody. It’s an event where everybody bonds over whether it’s great weather or bad weather or whatever it is that’s happening so I think it’s more than just a music festival, it’s a community gathering, a stamp, an annual stamp that everyone experiences.
“I absolutely am [ready for the rain]! I decided I would wear a cowboy hat, though in case it does rain. I prefer a cowboy hat to, like, a rain hat – so much more stylish than a plastic hat!”

And this is what I love about the time of the Legends slot because in it’s still daytime and I can see everybody. I’ll be able to see all the way to the back. I’ll be able to see the scope, the view because I see the audience as a unit. I really feel like it’s an environment and all the energy is individual. And I love the people watching. I love to watch people.”
Ken’s special with Shania will air on Saturday 29th June at 4pm on Greatest Hits Radio or download the free Rayo app from the Apple App Store / Google Play Store to listen now.

Lily Allen didn’t find intimacy coordinator helpful

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Allen finds the concept of intimacy coordinators “weird”.
The 39-year-old singer and actress had an intimacy coordinator on the set of her six-part TV series ‘Dreamland’ when she filmed steamy scenes with her co-star Kiell Smith-Bynoe but admitted she wasn’t a fan.
Speaking on her ‘Miss Me?’ podcast with co-host Miquita Oliver, she said: “I don’t know how helpful I found it [intimacy coordination] personally. I would have preferred to just have just thrown myself in the deep end and let it happen.
“But what I found difficult is you had to ask the person’s permission if they were okay with you putting your hand somewhere before you did it and I just couldn’t.
“I’d be like, ‘Kiell, are you happy with me putting my hand on your… I just didn’t understand the format, it was a bit of a mind bog.
“I was like, can we just snog? It’s like you’re making it weird… this is making it weird.”
Lily’s opinion is different from that of many of her fellow actresses, who have welcomed the inclusion of intimacy coordinators on set.
‘West Side Story’ actress Rachel Zegler previously tweeted: “intimacy coordinators establish an environment of safety for actors. i was extremely grateful for the one we had on WSS— they showed grace to a newcomer like myself + educated those around me who’ve had years of experience. spontaneity in intimate scenes can be unsafe. wake up.”
And, Dame Emma Thompson said on the Fitzy and Wippa podcast: “You might find that people go, ‘It made me feel comfortable, it made me feel safe, it made me feel as though I was able to do this work.’
“And no, you can’t just let it flow. There’s a camera there and a crew. You’re not on your own in a hotel room, you’re surrounded by a bunch of blokes, mostly. So it’s not a comfortable situation full stop.”

Arnold Scwarzenegger calls for ‘action’ in tackling climate change

OHMYGOSSIP — Arnold Schwarzenegger has insisted people need to do “whatever it takes” to tackle climate change.
The ‘Fubar’ actor opened the 2024 Austrian World Summit – which he launched eight years ago – at Hofburg in Vienna with a speech in which he warned the time for talking is over as there needs to be “action” taken to “save our future”.
He said: “All we care about is action.
“Talking alone won’t save us – but action will. We all share the same vision of a pollution-free world. We have to do whatever it takes to stop the bleeding in order to save our children, to save our planet, to save our future.”
Representatives from different industries and sectors around the world attended the event and the former Governor of California insisted they all have a part to play.
He told attendees: “You have the power.”
The 76-year-old star has devoted time to environmental causes for well over a decade, and has previously urged people to focus their energy on lowering pollution levels.
Speaking at the Austrian World Summit in 2021, he said: “Pollution is enemy number one … it is the very thing that causes climate change.
“Humans can solve it — we can kill it, we can terminate it.”
And the ‘Terminator’ star compared the threat of climate change to the destruction seen in his hugely popular film franchise, as he insisted people are “confused and tuned out” when it comes to environmental issues because there “is no hope” for the world.
He said: “No one is going to invest huge sums of money in a movie where there is no hope. Yet frequently I hear environmentalists talking about the existential threat of climate change … we are going to be eliminated.
“Is it any wonder that people are confused and tuned out? This movie doesn’t have a story line except constant alarm which cannot be sustained.”

Princess Anne postpones Canadian trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Anne’s tour of Canada has been postponed following her hospitalisation.
The Princess Royal had been due to fly out on an official tour later this week but on doctors’ advice, she has cancelled her upcoming engagements after she sought medical treatment for concussion and minor injuries on Sunday (23.06.24) evening following an “incident” at home.
A spokesperson said: “On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed. Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
The 73-year-old princess will also miss a state banquet being held on Tuesday (25.06.24) evening in honour of the Emperor and Empress of Japan’s visit.
The spokesperson confirmed: “The Japanese state visit will go ahead as planned, though sadly Her Royal Highness will be unable to attend the state banquet tomorrow.”
While it has not been confirmed how Anne – who is still in hospital but said to be conscious – sustained her injuries, sources said they were consistent with the impact from a horse’s head of legs and some of the creatures were said to be nearby when she was hurt.
Anne’s husband, Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and her children Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips were also present at her Gatcombe Park estate at the time and her spouse travelled with her to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has sent his best wishes to the princess.
He said: “Everyone in the country is immensely fond of Her Royal Highness.
“We’re all sending her our best wishes for a swift recovery.”
His sentiments were echoed by Labour party leader Sir Keir Starmer, who said: “Wishing Her Royal Highness a speedy recovery and sending my best wishes on behalf of all of us at the Labour Party.”
Buckingham Palace announced the news in a statement on Monday (24.06.24).
It read: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.
“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

James Gandolfini mesmerised ‘Sopranos’ creator David Chase with his ‘otherworldly’ eyes

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gandolfini left ‘The Sopranos’ creator David Chase constantly mesmerised with his “otherworldly” eyes.
The actor played mob boss Tony Soprano in the smash HBO mafia drama from 1999 to 2007 alongside stars including Edie Falco before he was killed by a heart attack aged 51 in 2013 after years of drug and alcohol issues – which often caused havoc with the making of the show.
David, 78, has now fondly remembered the star, telling a CBS News retrospective on the creation of the landmark show in honour of its 25th anniversary about his love for James’ trademark looks on the series: “He’s incredible. Well, the whole thing’s about his face and about his eyes, actually. “There’s something about his eyes that – it was otherworldly.”
David also said the humour in the show was so prevalent he could has “never been able to figure out whether it’s a comedy”.
He added: “I guess it’s like life. I don’t know, I hope.”
David previously told People he was glad the show’s fanbase was still going strong, saying it left him with a “tremendous sense of gratitude”.
He added: “I can’t remember this happening with any other television show ever.”
David also said about James’ performance: “Look at the show, and there you see it. It’s a cliché to call that stuff magic, but he was totally inhabiting that fictional creature.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. It’s probably the best thing I ever will do.”
James’ co-star Edie Falco, who played his wife Carmela on the show for all six of its series, also told the CBS special she loved working on it so much she “couldn’t stop crying” during the script read-through for ‘The Sopranos’ finale.
The 60-year-old ‘Nurse Jackie’ star said: “I really couldn’t stop crying – it was ridiculous. It was, ‘This thing in this moment will never happen again to me, to anyone.’”
The series finale is infamous for cutting to black as its lead character Tony looks up at a door opening in a diner, leaving fans furious and puzzled over whether it meant he had been assassinated by a mob rival.
Edie also said she had a “alchemy” with her co-star James.
The mother-of-two Edie, who has never married, added: “We both had Italian families, had some idea of what this dynamic feels like, and just sort of fell into it with great ease.
“It was, you know, a 10-year marriage. And it was as close to a real one as I had known.”

Matthew Modine raging Amazon Prime stripped ironic ‘BORN TO KILL’ message from ‘Full Metal Jacket’ poster

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Modine is raging Amazon Prime stripped the tongue-in-cheek ‘BORN TO KILL’ message from the ‘Full Metal Jacket’ poster.
The 65-year-old actor played jaded marine James T ‘Joker’ Davis in late director Stanley Kubrick’s searing 1987 anti-war Vietnam movie – which was famously advertised with the stark image of a battered and graffitied army helmet emblazoned with the phrase, along with a peace sign and a string of live rifle cartridges held in place by a leather strap.
In the midst of outrage from fans who spotted Amazon had removed the now-iconic ‘BORN TO KILL’ white writing from the helmet, Matthew ranted on X about the censorship: “Who decided to remove ‘BORN TO KILL?’
“Not only did they alter a piece of iconic art by (poster designer) Philip Castle, but they completely misunderstood the point of it being there.”
“(My character) wears the helmet with ‘BORN TO KILL’ and the peace button as a statement about ‘the duality of man’.”
Matthew accompanied his statement with a picture of the poster without the words and a shot of the original poster containing them.
Fans have speculated Amazon removed them as part of so-called “woke” culture over fears it may offend users of the site – or due to worries it could be seen as an incitement to violence by people clueless about the film’s content or meaning.
The film sees Private Joker put through brutal training for the Vietnam war, alongside fellow rookie marines played by stars including Vincent D’Onofrio.
In one scene, one of the private’s commanding officers asks Private Joker why he ‘BORN TO KILL’ on the helmet – prompting Matthew’s character to reply:
“(It’s) the duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.”
It is still unclear why Amazon made the change, but after a backlash from movie fans it has since reverted the poster back to its original form.

Hospitalised Princess Anne ‘too strong’ to be ‘fazed’ by setbacks

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Anne is said to be too strong to let her hospitalisation “faze” her.
The 73-year old royal – a highly skilled horsewoman who competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics – is recovering after she sustained injuries and a concussion while walking on her Gloucestershire estate in an accident thought to have been caused by a kick from a horse.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold has told the website Slingo Anne has always been full of strength, adding: “She just doesn’t let anything faze her. I met with her on many occasions when I worked with the now King, and I really liked how straight-talking she was with everyone. She was like her father, Prince Philip, in that sense – but without the swearing.
“She is a very direct person, but there is a very fun side to Anne, which I would say comes from the late Queen.”
Noting similarities between Anne and her late mother Queen Elizabeth, he went on: “Anne loves horse racing. I’m sure when she’s there she’ll get flashbacks to past events.
“She was very good with her mother and spent a lot of time with her.
“They’ve got lots of similarities with looks and mannerisms, but also with her father.
“Philip was a very straight-talking man and so is she. Anne has great humour and is a great support for the King.”
Grant also hailed Anne as the “hardest working royal”, saying she had undertaken more public engagements each year than other working members of the royal family.
He added: “I really like Princess Anne – I’ve got a lot of time for her.
“She’s an amazing grafter – she’s somebody who gets stuff done.
“She’s like her father, no-nonsense, and says as it is, but she gets the job done.
“Like her mother, she’s very happy to put duty before everything and that’s what she does.”
Emergency services were despatched to Anne’s estate after she was injured, after being given medical care at the scene, she was transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for tests, treatment and observation.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening.
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.”
“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”
Although the exact cause of the injuries is unconfirmed, Anne’s medical team have said her head injuries are consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.

She told People: “We do a lot of learning apps for (the kids) that we think are great.”
Chrissy said her girl Luna is learning Spanish on Duolingo, adding: “We’re finding it to be a really wonderful addition to the other things she gets to do. “And yeah, it’s technology, but it’s really wonderful for her.
“Honestly, I’m all for technology. I know a lot of people have big reactions to iPad time or TV time and things like that.
“Kids do so many different activities, especially during the school year. “They’re so busy doing activities during the week that we don’t mind them having a little downtime on the weekends.”
Chrissy added son Miles’ current interest in the online game ‘Roblox’ gives her another way for her to connect with the boy.
She said: “He just kind of discovered that world, and I find it to be really interesting because I grew up gaming.
“I still game. I still have my Nintendo Switch… I grew up being online and I grew up with a lot of games, so I don’t mind them having fun with things like that too.”
John recently opened up about his parenting approach and said he aspires to be a father like his dad Ronald Stephens.
He said in the TV series ‘Raising Fame’: “I’m a lot like him. Our personalities are very similar.
“Our disposition is very similar. We’re both very laid back, calm, able to, you know, whenever life gets hard, we’re able to figure it out, and not get too overly raw emotionally.
“And just keep a clear head and figure out what we need to do.”
Revealing how his father has helped him become a better dad, John went on: “I think he’s been a role model to me as a father because he was a single dad for a while.
“And just seeing the dedication he had to our family, seeing the creativity he had for our family, just kindness and love and just great example of integrity and character that he always set for us.
“That’s why he’s my role model. I always tell him that I want to be a dad like him.”
When asked if he had applied lessons learned from Ronald to his parenting, John said: “I find myself sounding like him a lot of times. I’m like, yes, I can tell I’m his son.”

Noah Wyle’s nurse mum told him off for unrealistic acting in ‘ER’

OHMYGOSSIP — Noah Wyle’s nurse mother scolded him for his unrealistic acting in ‘ER’ seconds after his episodes aired.
The actor, 53, played Dr John Carter in the hit emergency room drama from 1994 to 2006, and told Steve Kmeto on his ‘Still Here, Hollywood’ podcast his mum Marjorie – who worked for 10 years in operating rooms and another decade as an orthopaedic nurse – would call him as soon as the shows ended to review how medically accurate his actions were.
He said: “She would call 11:01(pm – when the show ended on TV) and say, ‘You never touch your face with bloody gloves! What? Do you wanna get AIDS? I’ve gotta go to the hospital tomorrow and answer for that.’
“And I said, “Okay. Okay.’”
Noah also joked there was a “fine line” between his mother’s advice and criticism, saying: “At least she had an interest” – before joking: “A vested interest.”
He also said he used to tell his mother what was going to happen during each episode.
Noah went on: “She would know what was coming up on the storyline, so she was very in the know.”
The actor said even though his mother didn’t always rate the realism of his ‘ER’ work, his time in the medical drama did come in useful in real life.
He added: “You learn enough to know how little you know and how much you could do wrong and how you could really make a huge mistake.
“I’ve been the first on scene in a car accident twice. I knew enough to be helpful and supportive – didn’t do anything that caused any harm.
“But it was very funny when the paramedics showed up, (saying when they recognised me), ‘Whoa – oh, yeah. We got a fake!’”

The ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and ‘Spring Breakers’ actress, 34, has been hounded online by cyber bullies who have accused her of losing her baby weight by joining the raft of celebrities on the diabetes medication.
Ashley – who had her daughter with husband Brandon Davis, 43, in February – was most recently hit with an online attack when she posted a photo on Instagram on Monday (17.06.24.)
It featured her wearing a red cap while showing off her flat stomach in a mirror, which she captioned: “My fav hat.”
Trolls filled the comments section of the post with questions about how she had managed to get back in shape so quickly after having her little girl, and she hit back when one suggested she had taken Ozempic to return to her pre-pregnancy physique.
Ashley insisted she wasn’t upset at the accusation in her reply, which said: “Comments like this are so funny to me. I know a lot of people take Ozempic and that’s totally fine.
“To each their own. But don’t discredit people who also work very hard to get their body back like I’ve done with mine.
“Getting back to work forced me to focus on my health and working out and I wanted to feel confident and good about myself.”
Mum-of-one Ashely went on to credit her success at getting back her flat stomach to sticking to workouts on wellness guru Melissa Wood-Tepperberg’s fitness app.
She shared a picture of herself standing over a yoga mat on her Instagram Story, with the caption: “And nothing makes me happier than doing @melissawoodtepperberg every day.”
Ashley and her husband Brandon have not disclosed any more details about their first child other than they had a daughter.
The actress did mark Father’s Day by paying tribute to Brandon on social media on Sunday (16.06.24.)
She posted an image of the actor holding their daughter – whose face was covered by a flower emoji.
Ashley captioned the snap: “From the moment I was pregnant you never left my side.
“Came to every single appointment because you knew how scared I was.
“You showed up for me every time and I knew you were going to do the same for our daughter and be the best daddy to her.”
