Paloma Faith finds it’s ‘confusing’ still being friends with ex

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith admits it’s “confusing” still getting on well with her ex Leyman Lahcine.
The ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ singer has two daughters with her former partner – whom she split from in 2022 – and sometimes questions why they ever parted ways.
She admitted to Reader’s Digest: “These break-ups are a far cry from the cut-and-runs of youth where you just don’t see each other again.
“When you have young children you have to [keep in touch] because you’re constantly doing handovers. That can get confusing.”
She added: “I have a really good relationship with the kids’ dad so sometimes it’s like, ‘What are we doing? Why are we not together?’. But the key to the success of our relationship now is the absence of expectation. Expectation leads to disappointment.”
On the pressure having children puts on a relationship, she said: “We put on so many different masks in relationships, then when you have children you see each other at your absolute worst, when you’ve not slept for a year. It’s really hard. I think people who stay together are amazing. I don’t know anyone who says, ‘I love my husband’; they all say, ‘He’s the most annoying person!’”.
Paloma recently admitted she hates the word “co-parenting” because fathers shouldn’t be “over applauded for actually parenting”.
The 42-year-old singer hit out at the way mother-and-fatherhood is portrayed in society.
Appearing on ITV breakfast show ‘Lorraine’ in the UK, she said: “I don’t like the word co-parent because co implies it is 50/50 and I don’t believe it is.
“There are definitely some men pulling in a lot of the work.
“But in the majority of cases it is the woman who deals with the mental load that comes with being a parent and also has them the majority of the time.”
She insisted she wasn’t attacking her ex, but argued there didn’t need to be another word used for being a dad.
She added: “I’m not saying that I don’t think my children’s dad is amazing, but I think we need to say what is actually happening and not over compliment the men.
“So I don’t use the word ‘co-parent’, I say, ‘Oh my kids go to their dads a few nights a week’ and I’m so happy that they do that and that they’ve got a lovely father.
“But let’s not over compliment them because they do get that all the time… Let’s not over applaud them for actually parenting.”

Ronan Keating loving life as a grandfather to son Jack’s ‘beautiful’ baby Maya

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating is loving being a grandfather and has hailed his son Jack a “great” dad.
The Boyzone singer, 47, has heaped praise on his 25-year-old former ‘Love Island’ star offspring for being a natural parent to his newborn daughter Maya
He told OK! Magazine: “It’s all wonderful, it’s lovely. Maya is a beautiful baby girl and Jack is doing great.
“Jack’s a great dad and he’s doing really well.”
Ronan is father to Cooper, seven, and Coco, four, with wife Storm, and has Jack, Missy, 23, and Ali, 19, with first wife Yvonne.
Jack surprised fans by announcing he’d become a dad last March.
He went public with his baby news in a shock announcement on social media, sharing a black and white picture of himself cradling his baby girl in a post on Instagram.
In the caption, he wrote: “Welcome to the world my little [princess].”
Ronan commented: “Little cutie”.
Jack didn’t identify her mother at the time, but it was revealed that she is designer Keely Iqbal.
He appeared on ITV2 dating show ‘Love Island’ in July 2022 during the Casa Amor stage but went home single after failing to find romance on TV.
In an interview published by Independent.ie, Jack insisted he was still single and looking for love on dating apps at the time.
He explained: “I’m still single and ready to mingle. I’m on Hinge [the dating app], but I don’t use it too seriously. I dip in every once in a while and I’m enjoying being single.”
He added: “People think my account is fake. I’m verified, but they still believe I’m a catfish who’s stolen someone else’s photos. I’m like: ‘Trust me – I’m the real deal’.”
Jack also returned to TV in his ongoing quest to find love – filming an appearance on ITV show ‘Dinner Dates’.

‘I would not turn my nose up’: Matthew Lewis talks returning to Harry Potter for new TV series

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Lewis “wouldn’t turn his nose up” at appearing in the ‘Harry Potter’ TV series.
The 34-year-old actor shot to fame after playing Neville Longbottom in the wizarding movie series and though he is “not in any rush to go back to the world” for Max’s planned reboot, he’d still give the project fair consideration if he was asked to return.
He told People magazine: “It’s not something I’m looking at or want to do but would not turn my nose up at.
“I’d be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult — a whole different vibe. That could be interesting. I would certainly look at that and consider it.”
Matthew explained he loves his job because it constantly changes and he never has to “stick with one thing”.
He said: “I’ve been a nurse, I’ve been a police officer, I’ve been a soldier, I’ve been a wizard, I’ve been all these different things.
“I never know what’s up next, and I love that.”
In February, Matthew and Jason Isaacs – who played Lucius Malfoy – were asked who they would like to portray, away from their original characters, in the TV series.
Jason chose Dobby the house elf “because you don’t have to go to make-up”, while Matthew insisted there wasn’t anyone else he would “want to even attempt to play.”
However, after much encouragement from his friend, he eventually admitted Remus Lupin – who was played by David Thewlis in the movies – had been one of his favourite characters in J.K. Rowling’s novels.
He said: “If I was to have a go, that would be one that I’d do.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry himself, has ruled out appearing in the series.
He told ComicBook.com: “My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere.”
Some fans have been hoping Daniel might make a little appearance alongside Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), but he doesn’t think it’s on the cards.
However, the ‘Miracle Workers’ star insisted he wishes the team “all the luck in the world” with bringing the ‘Harry Potter’ books to life for a new audience.
He added: “So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way.
“But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
The new series was announced by Max – formerly known as HBO Max – in April last year, with each season of the show focusing on one of the seven books.
They are expected to air over a decade as the actors grow old with the characters, while author JK Rowling will serve as an executive producer alongside Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.

Sean Penn recalls SWAT team raiding home during Madonna marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Penn has recalled a SWAT team forcing their way into his house during his marriage to Madonna.
The 63-year-old actor was wed to the ‘Hung Up’ hitmaker from 1985 to 1989 and at the time, there were rumours of tension in their relationship, with the ‘Milk’ star filing a defamation lawsuit in 2015 over allegations he was physically abusive.
And Sean has now discussed their turbulent relationship, including an incident where Madonna, 65, had told police she was worried about guns in the house.
He recalled to the New York Times newspaper: “I had a freaking SWAT team come into my house.
“I said, ‘I’m not coming out. I’m going to finish my breakfast.’ The next thing I knew, windows were being broken all around the house and they came in.
“[Then] they had me in handcuffs.”
And it was only years later that the ‘Mystic River’ actor learned there had been stories he had Madonna “trussed up like a turkey”.
He noted: “I didn’t know what ‘trussed up’ meant, first.”
Sean dated one woman who, after a “lovely night” together, confronted him about the rumours the next morning while he was outside smoking.
He said: “She’s looking at me like I killed her dog, [asking] about this hitting Madonna in the head with a baseball bat.
“Now I think it’s fair to say that I’m not the biggest guy in the world. But if I hit Mike Tyson in the head with a baseball bat, he’s going to the hospital.”
The ‘Into the Wild’ director hailed Madonna as “someone I love” and contrasted the aftermath of their divorce to the 2010 end of his marriage to Robin Wright, the mother of his children Dylan, 33, and 30-year-old Hopper.
He said: “It turns out it’s a lot quicker to repair a friendship after divorce if there are not kids involved.
“It took Robin and I quite a while. There was a lot of drama.”
The ‘Dead Man Walking’ star also married Leila George in July 2020 but they split in October 2021, and he suggested his heart and brain were “shrinking” during their relationship.
He said: “On one of my marriages, the background noise of life was a ‘Housewives of Beverly Hills’ or another thing called ‘Love Island’.
“Not even being in the room — I’m not saying this to be cute — I was dying. I felt my heart, my brain shrinking. It was an assault.”
Sean is single at the moment and feels “thrilled every day”.
He said: “I’m just free. If I’m going to be in a relationship, I’m still going to be free, or I’m not going to be in it, and I’m not going to be hurting. I don’t sense I’ll have my heart broken by romance again.”

Jodie Foster explains ‘trauma’ behind refusal to work on stage

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Foster hasn’t appeared in a play for over 40 years as a result of a “traumatic” incident during a college production.
The ‘True Detective: Night Country’ actress was horrified to learn John Hinckley Jr. had attempted to assassinate then-President Ronald Reagan in a bid to impress her and despite the incident – for which the shooter was eventually acquitted on mental health grounds and committed to a hospital – causing her world to “fall apart”, Jodie was determined the Yale University show must go on.
Speaking to Jodie Comer for Interview magazine, she said: “I’m finally able to admit that the one bit of theatre I did when I was in college, there was so much trauma involved in it—well, just quickly, the play happened in two weekends, and I did the first weekend, and in between the first weekend and the second weekend, John Hinckley shot the president… It was a huge moment.
“It was a long time ago. You probably don’t even know, but he shot him in order to impress me, and he had written letters to me, so it was a big moment in my life.
“The world fell apart, there were Secret Service people everywhere, I had bodyguards, and I had to be taken to a safe house, and I was in the middle of these two weekends of this play, and I had the dumb idea of ‘the show must go on.’
“So I was like, ‘I have to do that second weekend’. I’d just turned 18.
Jodie opted to vent her frustrations by “using” one member of the audience – but discovered afterwards he had brought a gun to the show.
She continued: “There were people everywhere, cameras everywhere, and there was a guy in the front row, and I had noticed that it was the second night that he’d been there, and I decided to, the whole play, yell, ‘F*** you, motherf*****!’
I just decided that I was going to use this guy.
“And then the next day, it was revealed that this particular guy had a gun, and he had brought it to the performance, and then he was on the run, and I was in a class, and the bodyguard guy came and threw me onto the ground while I was in the class, which was really embarrassing, because there were only 10 people there.
“It was a traumatic moment, and I’ve never admitted that maybe that has something to do with how I never wanted to do a play again.
“It was all part of that. I talked myself into loving theatre and going to theatre, but somehow feeling like I couldn’t make that commitment to ever do it again.
But the 61-year-old star won’t rule out getting on stage again one day.
She quipped: “I’ll be the first 80-year-old person to go onstage with my walker, perhaps.”

Shania Twain’s ‘positivity and optimism’ gets her through life’s challenges

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain isn’t bitter about the misfortunes that have occurred in her life as she believes everything happens for a reason.
The 58-year-old singer lost her parents at a young age and in 2008, her 15-year marriage to Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange came to an end after he was allegedly unfaithful, but the ‘That Don’t impress Me Much’ hitmaker harbours no resentment or anger.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “Life can be really difficult and throw all these things at you but if you have a positive, optimistic attitude you can get through those times.
“I’ve always believed, from a very young age, that everything that happens to you, good or bad was meant to happen.
“I don’t carry anger, frustration or regrets within me.
“Luckily, throughout my life, I’ve always managed to cope every time something has happened.”
Shania is now happily married to Frederic Thiebaud and is grateful for the support she receives from him and her 22-year-old son Eja, who she has with her ex-husband.
She said: “I love my husband and my son – they are everything to me – but this is m thing and they get that.
“I am so lucky they support me in everything I do.”
Shania posed topless for her 2022 single ‘Waking Up Dreaming’ and she was proud to do so in order to put to bed her own insecurities.
She said: “I have always been insecure about my body. I hate looking in the mirror, I always have, and I wanted to share the journey of getting to a place where I’m facing that insecurity and one of my greatest fears.
“The whole album was kind of a celebrating of well-being and staying positive.
“It’s a statement of self-confidence now I am older and I am facing some insecurities in terms of loving who I am more than I have over the years.”

Victoria Beckham says husband David has never seen her without perfectly plucked eyebrows

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham claims her husband David has never seen her without perfectly plucked eyebrows.
The Spice Girls singer-turned fashion designer, 50, insisted she has always been as well turned out as possible for the former footballer, 49, as she took to Instagram to share a video make-up tutorial to show her 33 million followers how she fills in her brows.
Promoting her BabyBlade Brow Pencil from her beauty range, Victoria said: “I am completely brow obsessed.
“Nobody’s brows are the same. Remember everybody – they’re sisters not twins – don’t let perfection get in the way.
“Even my own husband never sees me without my brows on.”
Victoria then showed how to use her BabyBlade product to draw in her eyebrows, saying when she was finished: “Gorgeous, fluffy, full brow.”
The ex-singer and David – who have sons Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 17, and 12-year-old girl Harper – have been married for 25 years and set to celebrate their milestone anniversary next month.
Last year in a separate video tutorial she said: “This is the first time I have ever let anyone see me without my brows on. Even my own husband never sees me without my brows on.”
“It’s just my thing – it’s something I’m almost quite self-conscious about.
“Over-plucking has left me with quite gappy brows if you can see, a few missing either side.
“Like I said, too much plucking has really left me quite self-conscious about my brows to be completely honest.
“I want you to see how gappy my brows really are, I have so many missing hairs. I have nothing on these brows at the moment, but you can see how much I have to fill them in and level them out.”

Taylor Swift’s haters make her ‘even tougher’

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift says her haters make her “tougher” and drive her to “work even harder”.
The ‘Bad Blood’ singer appeared to hit out at trolls and her critics during the second of her three-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday (23.06.24) as she continues the UK leg of her global ‘Eras Tour’.
Before playing her ‘thanK you aIMee’ track, she told fans: “I was thinking about getting to play Wembley Stadium. That’s not remotely normal (and) it is so insane for you to (have) done that for me… and for my crew because we get to play Wembley Stadium eight times this summer.
“You clearly thought this was a good idea (and) you wanted this to happen. “Blows me away. I’ll spend forever trying to thank you for that.”
In footage posted on X, Taylor then added: “On the other hand, it really makes me think about how every time someone talks s***, it just makes me work even harder and it makes me even tougher. So, it also makes me incredibly thankful for those people.”
In ‘thanK you aIMee’, Taylor sings about a “bronze, spray-tanned” bully her mother “wish(es) were dead”.
Fans have interpreted it as a “diss track” aimed at Kim Kardashian, 43, due to its lyrics and the way the capitals in its title spell out the reality TV veteran’s first name.
Kim’s ex-husband Kanye West, 47, thrust the pair into conflict in 2016 when he rapped in his song ‘Famous’ he “might still have sex” with Taylor and was responsible for her fame.
After a backlash to the lyrics and claims, Kim then claimed the rapper followed “proper protocol” to get “approval” from Taylor before releasing the song.
Kim then publicly released clips on Snapchat from a phone call between Kanye and Taylor Snapchat.
A string of famous faces turned up at Taylor’s gig on Saturday including Tom Cruise, Greta Gerwig, Mila Kunis, Prince William and her NFL player boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Austin Butler refused to get head shaved for ‘Dune 2’ so he wouldn’t wreck ‘The Bikeriders’

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Butler refused to get his head shaved for ‘Dune 2’ so he wouldn’t wreck the look of ‘The Bikeriders’ film.
The ‘Elvis’ actor, 32, plays biker Benny Bauer in the new movie, and its makers almost ran into trouble as just before the project started filming as before the star could start to work on the project he had to wrap up his work on ‘Dune 2’ as villain Feyd-Rautha – who sports a smooth scalp.
Filmmaker Jeff Nichols, 45, told The Hollywood Reporter about how Austin helped him out: “We had a conversation, and I was like, ‘Look, man, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.
“It’s ‘Dune: Part Two’. ‘Dune’ was one of my favourite movies of 2021. But our character really doesn’t work with a shaved head.’
“And, fortunately, he fought for that for us.
“It’s not like I got on the phone with (‘Dune: Part Two’ director) Denis Villeneuve and was like, ‘Hey, please don’t shave his head.’
“Austin worked it out for us, and I love him for that.”
‘The Bikeriders’ also saw British actor Tom Hardy, 46, put on a mid-west US accent – which he fears he didn’t get right.
He said about his portrayal of gang leading bike Johnny: “I’m not sure that I did nail (his voice.)
“One of the things that I hold myself to, as a principle, is that you’ve got to make an effort to create a vocal silhouette, as well as the physical silhouette.
“Accent work is not about phonetics or being accurate, to me. It’s about conjuring an atmosphere from a place which is authentic.”
Tom said he did think he got Johnny’s weak inner character correct though.
He added in a chat with Variety he felt Johnny’s inner weakness was on show in a scene early in the film when he is seen watching ‘The Wild One’ with his wife and children and imitating its star Marlon Brando’s tough guy character as he tries to start his biker gang.
Tom said: “I thought that was very sad. This is a grown man with kids, copying a young, genius actor in a very provocative movie that he’s got a connection to. “It’s like singing Justin Bieber songs in the shower. Pick someone: Amy Winehouse, Ian Brown, Jimi Hendrix… mimicking an icon, going, ‘I identify’, but not having your own personality.”

Elon Musk declares he never kept his 12th child ‘secret’ from loved ones

OHMYGOSSIP — Elon Musk never kept his latest child “secret” from his loved ones.
The X owner and Tesla founder billionaire, 52, who has 11 other children, had his 12th earlier this year with executive Shivon Zilis, 38, who works in his Neuralink business.
Even though the public is only finding out about the new arrival after reports spread the child had been born “in secret”, Elon has now said all his friends and family knew he was a father again so putting out a press release to the world would have seemed “bizarre”.
He added to Page Six: “As for ‘secretly fathered,’ that is also false. All our friends and family know.
“Failure to issue a press release, which would be bizarre, does not mean ‘secret’.”
The baby is Elon’s third with Shivon, and even though the entrepreneur has confirmed the child’s birth, the name and sex of the new baby have not yet been revealed.
Elon’s latest child was first revealed in a Bloomberg article published on Friday (21.06.24) in an article titled ‘Elon Wants You to Have More Babies’ – which focused on his obsession with birth rates around the world.
The story said Shivon declined to comment and Elon did not respond when asked about the newborn.
The billionaire added in a new chat with Page Six in the wake of the news he is a father again: “Many countries are already well below replacement rate, and the trend is that almost all will be.
“This is simply a fact, not a ‘debunked theory.’”
Elon previously had twins Strider and Azure with Shivon in November 2021. They were born a month before he and singer Grimes, 36, had baby Exa Dark Sideræl via surrogate.
The existence of Exa, also known as Y, emerged in a Vanity Fair article when the child began crying as Grimes was being interview.
In 2022, Elon told Page Six he wants “as many (children) as I am able to spend time with and be a good father”.
The same year he posted online: “A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces, by far.”
Grimes is currently suing Elon over parental rights to their three children.
He also has twins Griffin and Vivian and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian with his ex-wife Justine Musk.
The former couple’s eldest child, Nevada, died at 10 weeks of sudden infant death syndrome, known as SIDS.

Justin Timberlake tells fans they make his life ‘so special’

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake’s fans make his life “so special”.
The ‘Cry Me a River’ singer, 43, opened up about he loves their support at a concert almost five days after his arrest for allegedly driving while under the influence in the Hamptons, New York.
He said during his latest show in his ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour’ on Saturday (22.06.24) at Chicago’s United Center: “This (tour) is just something that keeps watching over me, more so on this tour than any other.
“And that’s that mostly all of us here in this room tonight, in this arena tonight, have grown up together.
“So many of you come up to me and say, ‘I grew up with you, man.’
“I want each and every one of you to know I’ve grown up with you.
“You have been such a big and beautiful part of my life and sometimes I can’t find the words to show my gratitude that you guys just keep riding with me and riding with me.”
Justin added whether his fans had got into his music in his days with *NSYNC or when he launched his solo career they were still “here right now”.
He said: “I just wanna say you guys keep loving me and coming back and spending and sharing this experience with me.
“And from the bottom of my heart, I want you to know that until I’m somewhere off this earth, I will never forget each and every one of you.
“You made my life so special. And tonight in Chicago, you have made us feel loved.”
Justin’s concert took place after he was told fans during his show at the same Chicago arena on 21 June – which marked his first since his DWI arrest – he had been through a “tough week”.
He added: “I know sometimes I’m hard to love but you keep on loving me and I love you right back.”
The Sag Harbor Police Department said in a statement on 18 June Justin had been “observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel” in the early hours of the same day.
He was determined to be “operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition” and arrested, processed and held overnight for morning arraignment.
Justin was charged with two citations for running a stop sign and failure to keep in lane and with one count of DWI told the arresting officer: “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”
The singer’s attorney Edward Burke Jr said in a statement: “Mr Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations.
“He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Pattinson feels simultaneously “very old” and “very young” since he became a father for the first time.
The ‘Twilight’ actor, 38, had his daughter with girlfriend Suki Waterhouse, 32, three months ago and spoke about the new arrival for the first time while attending the Dior Menswear Spring / Summer 2025 fashion show in Paris.
He said in a video that has been shared on X: “(Being a father) makes me feel very old and very young at the same time.”
Adding his baby is “so cute”, he went on: “I’m amazed by how quickly their personality comes. So even at three months, I’m like, ‘Oh, I can kinda see who she is already.’”
Robert and Suki were photographed pushing a pram in Los Angeles in March but the couple – who are renowned for keeping their private life under wraps – and had not confirmed they were expecting a baby until Suki debuted her bump during a concert in Mexico in November 2023.
She wore a skintight pink dress and told fans at the time: “I decided to wear something particularly sparkly today ’cause I thought it might distract you from something else that’s going on. I’m not sure if it’s working.”
Weeks later, she displayed her baby bump during a night out in New York City with Robert and their friend Taylor Swift, 34, at the premiere of the film ‘Poor Things’.
Suki, who is also a singer, opened up about being a mother during her performance at Coachella in April.
She told the crowd: “I don’t know if some of you know, but I had some big life changes happen recently; some pretty big events have been going down.
“I love amazing ladies, and I’ve been very lucky to have my own little amazing lady and meet the love of my life.”
Robert and Suki have been together since 2018 and even though there are reports they are engaged, they have not confirmed whether the rumours are true.
Suki fuelled engagement gossip in December when she was seen with a massive diamond ring on her wedding finger.

Edie Falco ‘couldn’t stop crying’ during read-through for ‘The Sopranos’ finale

OHMYGOSSIP — Edie Falco “couldn’t stop crying” during the script read-through for ‘The Sopranos’ finale.
The actress, 60, played despairing mob wife Carmela Soprano in the hit HBO mafia series from 1999 to 2007 and has now recalled how she was overcome with emotion while preparing to shoot its final episode with her co-stars.
She said during a retrospective film about the show for CBS News: “I was out of control. I was embarrassed.
“I really couldn’t stop crying – it was ridiculous. It was, ‘This thing in this moment will never happen again to me, to anyone.’”
The series finale is infamous for cutting to black as its lead character Tony Soprano – played by the late James Gandolfini – looks up at a door opening in a diner, leaving fans furious and puzzled over whether it meant he had been assassinated by a mob rival.
When told during the CBS look-back at the series that it probably changed many people’s lives, Edie agreed by saying: “I think all of ours, in all kinds of ways.”
The actress also said she had a “alchemy” with her co-star James, who was killed by a heart attack aged 51 in 2013.
Mother-of-two Edie, who has never married, added: “We both had Italian families, had some idea of what this dynamic feels like, and just sort of fell into it with great ease.
“It was, you know, a 10-year marriage. And it was as close to a real one as I had known.”
Edie won three Emmys and two Golden Globe awards for playing Carmela.
Even though she says she loved shooting it, she has said her adopted children – son Anderson and daughter Macy – have never seen ‘The Sopranos’.
She previously told People: “They’re so over it. They’ve never seen it. Either of them.
“But I hope that maybe someday they will and maybe they’ll like it. But yeah, they’re not impressed at all.”

John Waters refuses to hire actors who say they’re on a ‘journey’

OHMYGOSSIP — John Waters refuses to hire actors who use the word “journey”.
The ‘Pink Flamingos’ director, 78, renowned for gross-out scenes in his transgressive arthouse work, says he hates the phrase as it is “overused” by privileged stars – and he only thinks people fleeing war zones have the right to use it.
He told People when asked if he would ever adapt anyone else’s book into a film: “Never. I have never even read a script that I didn’t write. The fun of it for me, if there’s ever fun, is thinking it up.
“I wouldn’t know how to direct somebody else’s stuff. I’m a writer. Once I think it up – ‘Oh, now I have to do it’.
“A lot of it to me is writing the script. Then, I’ve played all the characters in my mind for a year before we even get there.
“Whoever gets the parts, the stars, don’t ever have to read. They just, if they ever use the word ‘journey’, I never hire them.
“I hate that word. It’s so overused, especially in LA. You’re not on a journey. “People that are escaping Ukraine are on a journey, not winning the (Independent) Spirit Award.”
John added when he looks back on his career and life his biggest regret in life is smoking.
He said: “One regret in my life is smoking cigarettes. It’s terrible. I know many of my friends are dying of cancer right now.
“I haven’t had a cigarette in 7,782 days – roughly. I write it down every day. But I smoked five packs a day.
“Not always, but long enough. Camel Cools. Oh, even saying that word makes me cough.”
And when asked which of his films he thinks he’ll be most remember for, the maverick director said: “They’re all exactly the same to me. I think my best movie is ‘Serial Mom’.
“The best Divine movie is ‘Female Trouble’. But ‘Pink Flamingos’ still caused the most trouble.
“They’re all the same to me. They have the same message: ‘Mind your own business. What people use against you, turn into a style, and you’ll win.’
“Every movie’s about that.”
