‘This sucks’: Kevin Bacon felt invisible when he went out in disguise

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Bacon realised life “sucks” without fame when he dressed up as a “regular person”.
The 65-year-old actor used to dream about being able to live his life without being recognised so he called in prosthetics experts to help him construct a new identity for himself – but he wasn’t particularly happy with what happened next.
In a Vanity Fair article titled ‘Kevin Bacon Spent a Day as a Regular Person’, he told the magazine: “I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognisable.
“Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent.
“I went to a special effects make-up artist, had consultations, and asked him to make me a prosthetic disguise.”
After being fitted with fake teeth, a new nose and glasses, the ‘MaXXXine’ star – who has children Travis, 35, and Sosie, 32, with wife Kyra Sedgwick – headed to The Grove shopping mall in Los Angeles and he was initially thrilled.
He said: “Nobody recognised me.”
But Kevin quickly regretted his decision.
He said: “People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice.
“Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f****** coffee or whatever. I was like, This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.”
The ‘Footloose’ actor admitted he always wanted to be fame after seeing his dad – an important urban planner in Philadelphia – regularly getting recognised out in public.
He said: “In terms of giving credit to my parents, and course I give all the credit to them, my mother was very much on the artistic side and really encouraged acting.
“My brother was a musician, but in general, amongst the six of us [children], they both encouraged as much creativity as possible in everything—dance, music, theatre, painting, sculpture, whatever.
“My father was famous in Philadelphia, which in some ways is a small pond, but for me it was a big pond.
“I saw him get recognised by people when he would walk down the street and seeing that was definitely a big driving force in my life.
“Frankly, I wanted to be more famous than him. And you can lay me down on the shrink’s couch. We could talk about that for a while. But it was definitely a motivator.”

Travis Barker thrilled to be a dad

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Barker’s “favourite thing” is being a dad.
The Blink-182 drummer got a “crash course” in parenting with his stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, now 25, who was just an infant when he embarked on a relationship with her mom, Shanna Moakler, and he then “learned so much” raising his son Landon and daughter Alabama, now 20 and 18 respectively, because they were “born really close to each other.”
And last November, the 48-year-old musician became a dad for the fourth time when wife Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to their son Rocky.
He gushed to People magazine about having a baby again: “It’s just as good as I remembered it.
“I love being a dad. That’s my favourite accomplishment, it’s my favourite thing I get to do every day…
“The most wonderful thing you could do at any time in your life is have a baby or bring a human being into this world.”
Travis can still vividly remember how he reacted when Shanna – who he divorced in 2008 after four years of marriage – told him she was pregnant with Landon.
He said: “The day I found out, I left my house and I ran to the freeway. It was four miles, and then I ran four miles back, too.”
The ‘All the Small Things’ hitmaker recently explained he and Kourtney – who he married in May 2022 – were “workout buddies” long before their relationship turned romantic in 2020.
He told People magazine: “It’s one of the main reasons we were so close. We would always work out together and run together or do stuff like that together before we were ever in a relationship — we were workout buddies forever. It was what started it all.”
And even though they are busy with their new baby, Travis and Kourtney – who also has Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and nine-year-old Reign with former boyfriend Scott Disick – find the time to exercise together every day because it is so important for their physical and mental wellbeing.
The musician said: “We’ll do Pilates together, we’ll carve out a half hour or an hour every day to go out.”

Prince William heading back to Germany for England’s Euro 2024 quarter-final

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William is flying back out to Germany to cheer on England in Euro 2024.
The Prince of Wales – who is president of the FA – joined Denmark’s King Frederik to witness the two countries’ 1-1 draw in the group stages of the tournament on 20 June, and now it has been confirmed he will be in the stands in Dusseldorf for the Three Lions’ quarter-final game against Switzerland on Saturday (06.07.24), MailOnline reports.
The game will mark manager Gareth Southgate’s 100th match in charge of the national side.
Last weekend saw England come back from behind to beat Slovakia 2-1 in extra time, a match the prince hailed an “emotional rollercoaster”.
He posted on X after the game: “Emotional rollercoaster! Let’s go @England! Quarter finals here we come!”
William had met with the squad after the Denmark game.
Midfielder Adam Wharton previously revealed: “He was just trying to keep us all positive.
“He was saying it’s not the end of the world. We were thinking we’re still top of the group, we didn’t lose, we got a draw, we’ve just got to reflect on the game – to see how we can get better and look forward to the next game.
“That’s all you can do in tournament football.”
And before the squad flew out to Germany, the prince paid a visit to the squad at their St George’s Park training camp in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, where he offered some advice from his youngest son.
William explained he’d asked his and wife Catherine, Princess of Wales’ three children, Princes George, 10, and Louis, six, and nine-year-old Princess Charlotte if they had any advice for the squad.
He laughed as he said: “I was on the school run this morning with the children and I said: what shall I say to the England team, I’m seeing them today?
“The best bit of advice I got, to ask you, was to eat twice the amount you normally would eat.
“So I then had visions of you running around, massive great tummies and loads of stitches on the pitch.
“So I think maybe take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of salt, particularly around the physio team.”

Lily Gladstone compares Hollywood award shows to Squid Game

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Gladstone has compared Hollywood’s biggest award ceremonies to brutal Netflix series ‘Squid Game’.
The ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ star was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the film and she went on to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, but Lily is adamant she hated going to red carpet events – comparing the Globes to ‘Squid Game’ – in which contestants are put through gruelling challenges in a deadly game show and exterminated when they fail.
During an appearance on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, Lily was asked if she “enjoys” award shows and she replied: “Meeting people is the fun part of it”.
She went on to add: “The Globes was a little bit like ‘Squid Game’. I mean the reality is, you’re in shapewear, you need to pee, you have commercial breaks but that’s the only time that you’re able to do it.
“So, it’s just a mad scramble and then that’s the time when you get to like jam in meeting idols like, you know, Meryl Streep. Of course, that part is not bad.”
Lily went on to add she feels terrified about meeting other celebrities in case she embarrasses herself. She added: “I just kind of count on I’m going to say something stupid.”
Lily made history at the Globes this year when she became the first Native American woman to win the prize for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and she delivered her acceptance speech in the Blackfeet language.
She told the audience: “I love everyone in this room. I don’t have words. I just spoke a bit of Blackfeet language, a beautiful community nation that raised me, that encouraged me to keep going, keep doing this here with my mom, who, even though she’s not Blackfeet, worked tirelessly to get our language into our classroom so I had a Blackfeet language teacher growing up ..
“I’m so grateful that I can speak even a little bit of my language, which I’m not fluent in, up here because, in this business, Native actors used to speak their lines in English and then the sound mixers would run them backwards to accomplish Native languages on camera.”

Celine Dion ‘signs up for Las Vegas stage return’

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion has reportedly signed up for a limited run of shows in Las Vegas.
The 56-year-old singer has been absent from the stage for four years as she battled stiff-person syndrome – a progressive neurological disorder that affects her muscles – but a new report suggests she is hoping to make a big return later this year with a series of concerts at the Resorts World Theatre in Sin City around the time the Formula 1 Grand Prix is being held there in November.
A source told the US Sun: “Celine is coming back to perform. It is hush hush at the moment, but an announcement is imminent.
“Celine has signed off on singing again to audiences in November. She has worked incredibly hard to get back to a place where she can sing well and for some period of time.
“She believes that she is ready to perform for over an hour … She never gave up and has been working in secret for months on her vocal strength and control.
“It started out as small sessions with her musicians at her home and has now grown into being able to sing a number of songs in a row to a standard she feels excited and content with.”
The concerts are reportedly being organised by promoter AEG and there are said to be plans in place to push them back to a later date in 2025 if Celine suffers a health setback.
The report suggests the singer will start with a “short run at first” to allow her to get back to performing with the shows being kept to 70-minute sets.
She’s believed to have been rehearsing with a band of musicians for the last eight months while she’s also been working with voice therapists to help get her famous voice back after years of ill health.
Celine has previously admitted she’s keen to make a comeback, telling the BBC she’s been hard at work in recent months: “We have been working so hard to put this show together, because I’m back … I’ll be on stage. I don’t know when exactly, but trust me I will scream it out loud. I can’t wait …
“My voice will be rebuilt. I mean, it started a while ago already. My voice is being rebuilt as we speak, right now.”

Jason Derulo feared death after neck-breaking accident

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Derulo thought he was going to die when he broke his neck.
The ‘Whatcha Say’ singer was preparing for a tour in 2013 when he suffered an accident while training, and he’s admitted listening to the personal trainer he’d hired, who repeatedly had him doing back tucks – where a person jumps backwards to land on their hands before pushing off the ground with their arms to end up on their feat again – was one of the “worst ideas somebody’s ever had”.
He recalled to Paris Hilton on her ‘I Am Paris’ podcast: “S*** was crazy.I had this tour set up — it was the biggest tour of my life at that point.
“He had me doing like 50 back tucks back to back to back, which is another one of the worst ideas somebody’s ever had. So I slipped during one of the back tucks and I landed on my head, breaking my C2 vertebrae.”
Jason immediately thought he was going to die.
He said: “As soon as it happened, I heard a big crack, and I was just like, ‘Holy s***, is this it? Is this how it all ends?’
“And all the thoughts that you could imagine are going through my head at the time.”
But despite his pain, the 34-year-old singer got back on his feet and tried to put on a brave face so he didn’t worry his mother, who was waiting outside the gym in his car.
He recalled: “I did not wanna alarm her, so after five minutes of laying on the ground, I got myself together and walked to the car holding my neck.
“And then I’m like, ‘Mom, I think I hurt myself a little bit’ — like with that bright kind of voice — ‘I think I hurt myself a little bit inside, we should probably go to the hospital just to check it out.’
“Now every single bump [in the car] feels like hell on Earth. I’m just dying in that passenger seat, but I don’t wanna let her know that.”
Jason underwent a string of tests, including X-rays, where doctors broke the news he was lucky to be alive.
He recalled one medic told him: “Well, I have some good news and some bad news.
“The good news is that you have a hangman’s break, which is the same break that happens when you get hung. And you’re still alive. This could’ve ended up way crazier: paralysed or worse. That’s the good news, that you’re still here with us, and you can move all your limbs.
“The bad news is you’re gonna be out for seven months.”
The ‘Talk Dirty’ hitmaker felt particularly guilty because he would be letting down his fans by pulling the tour.
He said: “I had to let all these people down. I know how much this means to people, people save their money, their hard-earned money, and they wanna be part of this experience. All of a sudden all of that s*** was down the drain.”

The Kardashians believe in aliens

OHMYGOSSIP — The Kardashians believe in aliens.
Members of the famous family shared their thoughts on the matter during the latest episode of their reality TV show ‘The Kardashians’ with Kim and Khloe Kardashian and their half-sister Kendall Jenner insisting they “fully” believe conspiracies theories which suggest beings from other planets caused a commotion by visiting a shopping mall in Miami, Florida over New Year as revellers rang in 2024.
Kendall brought up the subject of “this alien situation at that Miami mall” during a family dinner in Aspen, Colorado with both Khloe and Kim agreeing they thought the incident – in which conspiracy theorists claimed to see alien shadows lurking in video footage of police breaking up a brawl – was “fully real”.
Family matriarch Kris Jenner voiced her scepticism, asking why no one has video footage showing the alleged aliens, and Khloe hit back saying: “Mom! Are you kidding me? They have technology that wipes it all out”.
Khloe then got her brother Rob on the phone to get him to back her up, with Kris telling her son: “Rob, for the record, I do believe in aliens.”
Khloe added in a piece to camera: “I love conspiracy theories. I don’t have to believe them all but I f****** love them all, and my brother is right there with me.”
Rob went on to share his belief that there are many different types of alien and they have been living on Earth for more than 80 years.
He explained: “There is literally seven species of aliens, and there’s good aliens and bad aliens … They’ve literally been here since like the ’40s.”
Rob was backed up by Kris’ boyfriend Corey Gamble, who insisted there are more than seven species of alien and he’s convinced they’ve actually been on Earth for “centuries”.
The Miami incident took place in the early hours of New Years Day (01.01.24) with police responding to a fight involving a large group of youngsters armed with batons and fireworks.
The brawl was broken up by law enforcement officers and the Miami Police Department later released a statement quashing conspiracy theories about aliens. It clarified: “There were no aliens, UFOs or ETs. No airports were closed no power outages.”

Ian Gillian slept through house fire

OHMYGOSSIP — Ian Gillian almost died in a house fire when his cottage in Portugal burst into flames in the middle of the night.
The Deep Purple singer has revealed he was asleep when the chimney caught fire and the sprinklers kicked in – prompting him to dream about the property filling with water and building raft to save himself and his cat.
During an interview with The Times newspaper, Gillian was asked about if the band’s song ‘Lazy Sod’ was about climate change but the rocker confirmed the fiery lyrics were actually about the house fire he escaped. He explained: “It is about my cottage in Portugal.
“There was a chimney fire caused by a bird’s nest and the sprinklers came on. I was in bed, dreaming about the house filling with water, and I had to build a raft and save the cat. So no, it is not about global warming. It is about my house catching fire. These are the things that keep me happy.”
The song features the lyrics: “The world’s on fire / And I can’t get my a*** out of bed … The oceans are rising /And I can’t do a thing about that / So it’s hardly surprising / I built an ark for me and my sleek black cat.”
During the interview, Gillian explained his song-writing has changed over the years because he grew out of writing about typical rock band themes.
He explained: “Your body changes, your mind changes [as you get older] but the big change for me came in my mid-thirties.
“I got embarrassed to be writing about fast cars and so on, and started thinking, it’s got to be exciting, otherwise it ain’t rock’n’roll, but what else is there? I started looking at things in a more surreal way. That’s when I realised. You can write a song about absolutely anything.”

Emma Corrin disappointed by lack of physical transformation for Marvel role

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Corrin was disappointed not to bulk up for ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The 28-year-old star – who identifies as non-binary and uses gender-neutral pronouns – plays Cassandra Nova, the twin sister of Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming blockbuster and they admitted they were disappointed not to have to hit the gym to undergo a “huge transformation” for the role.
Answering social media questions in a video feature for Britain’s GQ magazine, Emma responded when asked if they had had physical training for the role: “This is funny because I did ask if I could have a personal trainer and they said no.
“They said I don’t have to undergo any physical training. I was so ready to undergo, like, a huge [physical] transformation but they were like, ‘That’s absolutely not required of you. Please stand down.’ I tried.”
The ‘Crown’ star got to bond with co-star Ryan Reynolds when the Wrexham AFC co-owner – who has James, nine, Ines, seven, Betty, four, and a 15-month-old baby whose name and sex haven’t been disclosed with wife Blake Lively – invited them to watch his team in action, but Emma admitted they weren’t particularly interested in the action on the pitch.
They recalled: “I think I ended up spending most of the time playing games with his kid more than watching the football.
“I remember they won and I attributed that to my being there. And I think Ryan agreed.”
Meanwhile, Emma admitted they are keen to work with ‘The Crown’ co-star Josh O’Connor – who played Prince Charles to their Princess Diana – again but any director who casts them both may have their work cut out because kissing scenes between the couple had to be cut from the regal drama as the pair kept laughing.
They said: “I love Josh and I would love to do something with him again.
“I think we had, like, one or two scenes during the series where Diana and Charles are meant to kiss and by that point Josh and I were such good friends it was so weird, and I think both of us just kept laughing, so it never made it into the series.”

Tilda Swinton ‘slapped friend who called her English’

OHMYGOSSIP — Tilda Swinton slapped an American friend who called her “English”.
The 63-year-old actress – who has lived in the Highlands since 1997 – was born in London, but considers her nationality to be Scottish because she comes from a Scottish family and spent much of her childhood there and has confessed she reacted badly when a pal referred to her as “English” rather than “British” or “Scottish”.
She was reminded of the incident – which took place while she was filming 1992 movie ‘Orlando’ – during an interview with the Guardian newspaper and Tilda explained: “Well, I’ll slap myself on the back for that now.
“I mean, he should know better … And you know these Americans: you’ve got to teach them. Quite right!”
The ‘Michael Clayton’ star has previously admitted she feels more Scottish than British and has “never felt English”.
She told the BBC: “I don’t quite believe the word British. I feel like it’s sort of a strictly for export term. I don’t really know what it means. I think it has something to do with a sort of political attitude.”
She added: “I have lived in Scotland full-time for the last 20 years, I was brought up in Scotland through my childhood, I am from a family that has lived in Scotland for centuries.
“I have never felt English, and I have never felt British, politically. I am happy to describe myself as Scottish and I feel, like many people, that Scotland is a naturally independent country.”
It came after fellow actress Kelly Macdonald insisted Swinton was “too posh” to be Scottish. During a US TV interview in 2018, Kelly was asked about Tilda and said: “I have a problem with people that are Scottish but don’t sound it. I get very, very confused. Yeah, I don’t understand. But, yeah, she’s based in Scotland …
“She’s posh Scottish. Posh Scottish people are really English. I am not posh.”

Martha Stewart blasts trolls for branding mansion makeover ‘bland and boring’

OHMYGOSSIP — Martha Stewart has slammed trolls for branding her mansion makeover “bland and boring”.
The former ‘Martha Stewart Show’ host, 82, who has made a fortune as one of the US’ leading homemaking experts, was targeted by keyboard warriors after she shared several snaps online showing a quick change to the interior of her luxury Skylands estate in Maine.
After she was bombarded with hate over her décor, she hit back on Instagram: “I rarely read all the comments that come in after I post but because I was so happy at the transformation of my Maine living room I did go through many of the comments and was surprised at the harsh judgment so many displayed!!!”
She added at the time of her post of her home interior she and her crew of assistants had spent three hours “moving out the old furniture” and installing new pieces.
Martha added she was “pleased” at the final effect even though she had not drafted in a “professional” interior decorator.
She said: “It was an attempt to change quickly and efficiently.
“Making a house a home, or a room a beautiful liveable space takes a lot more than three hours.
“Of course there will be colour, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects Stay tuned!!!!”
Martha’s snaps of the home showed how it was mainly cream, brown and beige – prompting trolls to compare it to a “furniture showroom” and say it “didn’t look homely”, with others branding the colour scheme “bland” and “boring”.
Martha was last summer trolled for sinking a “small iceberg” into her cocktail on a cruise from Greenland from Iceland.
The former TV host showed off her drink on an Instagram Story during her holiday – sparking massive backlash from fans as it used pieces of naturally formed bergs in her booze amid the climate change crisis that has seen wildfires sweep the globe this summer.
She was accused of posting a “tone deaf” update on her social media by bragging about her use of the ice during a Swan Hellenic cruise on the SH Vega expedition ship.
Martha hit back on Instagram by posting an image of an iceberg with the caption: “Pleated iceberg. perfect for cocktails!”
She also reposted a Washington Post article with the headline, ‘Martha Stewart put an iceberg in her drink. Experts say it’s no big deal’.
