OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Faris stays “youthful” by pretending to be characters including a “mean nanny” while on adventures with her son.
The mother-of-one ‘Entourage’ actress, 47, has 11-year-old boy Jack Daniel with her actor ex-husband Chris Pratt, 45, and said she loves her trips with the boy as it gives her “delight” to feel “rascally” and play-act with the youngster.
She told People: “Every six months he gets to choose an activity. Because we live in Los Angeles, sometimes it’ll be Disneyland.
“We haven’t conquered Universal Studios yet. But going up to the San Diego Zoo, that kind of thing. And I love those mother-son trips.
“Getting delight in feeling rascally with him, feeling like a kid with him, is incredibly fun.
“And we’ll play-act games together. I’ll be a mean nanny, or I love to do boarding-school headmistress.
“I love playing those kinds of imaginary games with people in my life, which annoys some of them but doesn’t seem to annoy Jack too much yet. Unless we’re around other kids. Then he’s like, ‘Mom, stop it. Stop it.’”
Anna added when asked if her son knows about comedy skills – shown in films such as ‘Scary Movie’ – “I think he does. I think he thinks I’m funny. But he shows it – as opposed to a laugh, he’ll just sort of grin wryly at me like, ‘Okay, Mom.’
“It’s true that, for better or for worse, I think I am a mom who really likes to have fun. I do love to laugh with Jack, and that makes me feel youthful.”
Along with her son, Anna is stepmother to her 54-year-old cinematographer husband Michael Barrett’s two kids.
She got engaged to him in 2019 and they eloped two years later.
Anna told People in 2022 she considers herself lucky to have a great relationship with Chris and his 34-year-old wife Katherine Schwarzenegger.
She said: “We’re all getting much closer, and I so appreciate that.
“They’re very protective of me, and I want to be very protective of them. I so appreciate their support.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anthony Michael Hall toasted his 56th birthday with a ‘Breakfast Club’ cast reunion.
The actor is perhaps best known for starring as geeky Brian Johnson alongside the 1980s’ ‘Brat Pack’ gang of actors including Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy in John Hughes’ 1985 high school detention movie, and said he got together with three of them to mark the milestone.
He told People about going out with then after the trio turned up at one of his fan signings: “Judd, Molly and her husband and some other friends went to dinner after the signing. It turned out to be really fun.”
Anthony, who turned 56 in April, added he went against tradition and paid for the whole table despite it being his birthday.
He joked: “You know what? I like keeping people on their toes.”
Michael went on about how the reunion left him feeling delighted: “It was actually really great… it was cool to see Molly and we’re sharing pictures of our kids.
“Judd is still John Bender (his delinquent character from ‘The Breakfast Club’.) “He’s an original. He really is. I love that. He’s like part Hunter Thompson part… he’s got so many varied interests.
“He’s really a brilliant guy. I mean, he’s actually really super, super smart.”

The ‘Sliding Doors’ actress and Goop founder, 51, has daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses , 18, with her Coldplay frontman ex-husband Chris Martin, 47, and made the admission during her latest ‘ask me anything’ session with fans on her Instagram – during which she posted on her Stories one of the most recent pictures she had taken with her kids.
When a fan asked her to name the “trait you love most and one you worry most about with your kids”, Gwyneth said in a video reply: “I think my kids both really know themselves very well and that’s a trait about them that I both love and admire.
“And I guess one I worry about for both of them is anxiety. This is, as we know, the anxious generation.
“So that’s probably what I worry about.”
When a follower asked the Oscar-winner to show her “last photo with Moses”, Gwyneth posted a snap that showed her standing between her children, with Apple on her right and her son the left.
Apple was seen wearing a red and white gingham dress in the summery shot and posed with her hand on her hip, while Moses had on maroon polo shirt and tan trousers – with Gwyneth sporting a light blue shirt and white bottoms.
She had the kids during her 13-year marriage to Chris, who headlined last month’s Glastonbury festival – staging a set that saw Coldplay bring Parkinson’s disease battling actor Michael J Fox, 63, on with them in his wheelchair while holding a guitar.

OHMYGOSSIP — Neymar has had his third child – almost nine months after having a daughter.
The Brazilian football star, 32, revealed the latest addition to his family – another girl, who he is calling Helena – in an Instagram post on Friday (19.07.24), following her birth on 3 July.
He made the announcement alongside a series of photos taken in hospital of the newborn, saying: “Helena (red heart and child emojis) 03/07/202.”
Helena’ birth comes nearly nine months after he announced he had welcomed his daughter Mavie with his 30-year-old ex Bruna Biancardi.
Among the series of photos of his newborn with his family was one of Neymar – whose full name is Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior – with his arm around his son Davi Lucca, 12, who he had with his ex Carolina Dantas, 30, as they looked through a glass window at the midfielder’s baby daughter lying in a cot in the hospital.
The newborn was also snapped in a Babygro while being held up, and shown in a close-up of her face.
Another image showed Davi gazing down at his baby sister as he looked down at her while sitting in a chair.
Neymar, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal and the Brazil national team, had his second daughter Helena with model Amanda Kimberlly, who also celebrated their baby girl’s birth in a post on Instagram on Friday.
She posted a black-and-white photo of her daughter’s foot, alongside the caption: “My favourite month, July.”
The new mother also used an Instagram Stories post to pay tribute to her doctor, writing in Portuguese a message that translates into English as: “A special thank you to my doctor who went beyond the professional side, welcomed me and gave me a lot of strength during these 9 months.”
She also uploaded a photo of her friends behind a glass screen in the hospital, with the message: “And my support network, thank you for EVERYTHING!”
Neymar had his first daughter Mavie in October 2023, a month before the baby’s mother Bruna announced on Instagram she had split from the athlete.
The model, who started dating Neymar in 2022, said: “This is a private matter, but as I deal with news, assumptions and jokes every day, I inform you that I am not in a relationship.
“We are Mavie’s parents, and that is the reason for our bond.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Duchovny fears conspiracy theories that packed ‘The X-Files’ are now a mainstream way of thinking.
The 63-year-old, who was watched by audiences of up to 30 million playing FBI alien-hunter Fox Mulder at the peak of the 1990s sci fi series; popularity, said his character’s obsessions with government and establishment cover-ups was “fringe” at the time it was shot, but have now become normality for swathes of society.
He told The Times: “Mulder’s way of looking at the world was through conspiracy and that was the fringe at that point.
“It doesn’t seem to be so fringe any more. It’s really the world that Chris Carter (‘The X-Files’ creator) foresaw happening almost 30 years ago.
“He’s almost clairvoyant in that case.”
When asked if he was more “evidence-based” in his thinking than Fox Mulder, David said his brain was filled with thoughts of art and he was nothing like the FBI sleuth.
He added: “I’m an artist – I am associative-based (in my thinking and approach to life) and I see poetry as science and science as poetry.”
And when asked if there were “some conspiracy theories” he buys into, David insisted: “No, I’m talking about art. I think conspiracies are mostly just lazy thinking.”
He added about how he loves ‘The X-Files’: “I am proud of the show – it was culturally central in a way that it’s very hard to do these days in a fragmented landscape.
“There’s so many lightning-strike aspects to it that I can’t help but think of it as some kind of a miracle.”
Along with his acting – which famously includes roles as womanising, hard-drinking writer Hank Moody in ‘Californication’ and detective Sam Hodiak in the 1960s-set ‘Aquarius’ – David has spent years as a folk-rock musician and novel writer, turning out five books.
His 2015 song ‘Hell or Highwater’ has had more than a million streams, while
David’s 2020 tune ‘Layin’ on the Tracks’ attacks ex-US president Donald Trump – containing the lines: “It’s a killing joke that no one laughs at, A stupid orange man in a cheap red hat.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Halle Berry’s role in ‘Catwoman’ made her go from being a lifelong dog fan to a “cat lover”.
The 57-year-old actress made the admission in a discussion about how she has adopted kittens from her garden, and while reflecting on starring as Batman’s sidekick in the 2004 superhero film – which was mauled by critics, and that she has said caused her to feel haunted by its failure.
She told Entertainment Weekly about the upside of featuring in the flop: “I became a cat lover because of it.
“I just rescued four kitties I found in my yard three weeks ago. I’m a Catwoman through and through, because of that experience and those relationships. That experience changed me.”
Entertainment Weekly described Halle as a “self-proclaimed, lifelong dog person”.
Halle – who also owns two Labradoodles – recently posted on her Instagram that she adopted kittens from a family of stray cats she discovered in her garden.
She posed with two of the felines, who she called Boots and Coco, and captioned the post: “I found these two little fur babies in my yard along with their 2 siblings and their mom!
“I got the mommy spayed and released her back in my yard and she’s now our outdoor cat and the other 2 babies I’ve found a forever home for and these two are our new lovies. It’s a full house over here!”
Halle also told Entertainment Weekly how her preparation for ‘Catwoman’ involved being given a cat early on during the production because she didn’t have one.
She said: “His name was Playdough. I watched, studied and learned how cats think.

The Goop founder, 51, this year revealed she has dialled back on her fitness obsession and “doesn’t give a f***” now she is in her fifties, and spoke out on again on her views about the positives of ageing in her newest ‘ask me anything’ online video exchange with her millions of online fans.
During the Instagram Stories session, Gwyneth filmed a video reply to the post from one follower: “Just turned 40. Tell me life isn’t over yet.”
In a video taped while Gwyneth appeared to be in her leafy back garden, she smiled as she replied: “Forty is when it all starts getting good, Kate. It all starts getting good.”
Gwyneth was wearing an open weave cream jumper and blue jeans in the clip, and had minimal make-up.
Also in the chat, Gwyneth admitted she no longer likes leaving her house that much, and posted an image of her and her second husband Brad Falchuk sitting beside a fountain.

OHMYGOSSIP — Omid Djalili thinks about his “belly” 10 to 15 minutes every day.
The 58-year-old comic and actor – who has starred in ‘The Mummy’, ‘The World is Not Enough’ and ‘Gladiator’ – said he realised in his 30s weight was creeping on after years of being in shape, and it is the thing he most hates about his body.
He told the Daily Telegraph when asked to describe “the absolute worst” element of life: “My belly. I have always struggled with having a belly. I was always a fit person, but somewhere in my 30s this tyre started forming around my stomach.
“I’m very aware of it every day, it crosses my mind every 10 to 15 minutes of every day.
“It might sound obsessive but that’s the truth. Being overweight is the thing I hate most.
“I know I shouldn’t hate it, I know I have to love it away and change my diet and my lifestyle, and I’m trying very, very hard to do that.
“I know for a man of my age, having a big belly is dangerous, it raises the risk of heart failure, it can take years off my life.
“But it’s an enormous terrible thing I just hate about myself.”
He also said he hates about the public “judgement on your soul” directed at comics if they make a joke perceived as offensive.
And he described a terrifying encounter that left hum fearing for his safety which he had with a group of Pakistani Muslims who cornered him after he made a gag about the Muslim call to prayer.
He said when asked to open up about the “worst encounter” he’d had with a member of the public: “There have been a few hairy ones. I did a show in Birmingham where I made a joke about the Muslim call to prayer.
“After the show, these four big Pakistani Muslim guys in suits asked me to come into the back room after the show.
“They told me what I was doing was disrespectful, and that they wouldn’t take any action but I should drop it from my set. They were all over 6ft tall.
“I tried to make a joke that I’d never seen such tall Asian men.
“They didn’t think it was funny. The only way I could get out of there was complete compliance and agreement.
“I remember saying, ‘Brothers, I have been in two minds about that joke and you’re absolutely right that it’s wrong, I regret doing it, thank you for the feedback’.
“I think if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have got out of there safely.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mamie Laverock has thanked donors who gave nearly $40,000 to her GoFundMe page following her near-fatal fall from a fifth storey balcony.
The 20-year-old actress, famed for her role as nursing student Rosaleen Sullivan on popular Hallmark show ‘When Calls the Heart’, is lucky to be alive after she plunged to the ground in May in an accident her mother branded “negligence” by medical authorities.
She has now spoken out about her recovery in a new post on the GoFundMe page her family set up to help fund her treatment after it pulled in $39,022, with her parents adding it was now closed.
Mamie said: “Thank you so much. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full.
“Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude.
“Love you guys. Thank you. MAMIE.”
Her mother Nicole Rockman and stepfather Rob Compton added beneath her post: “The Fund has now closed. Please know how much you helped this family in our hardest circumstances. “Thank you for caring. Warmth, Nicole and Rob.”
Mamie’s fundraiser was shut on Thursday (18.07.24) after surpassing its $30,000 goal.
Mamie’s mum Nicole has said St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver – where her daughter had her fall – has a “negligence-type case” to answer.
She told the Los Angeles Times: “We have a case. All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong.
“It’s unbelievable that she’s with us. There will be accountability.”
Nicole said it was an “absolute miracle” Mamie is alive and blamed St Paul’s for the fall – which she stressed was not “intended” and wasn’t a suicide attempt by the actress.
Mamie was transferred from St Paul’s to a trauma centre after her fall.
A spokesperson for Providence Health Care, which operates St Paul’s, confirmed to the LA Times at the time of Nicole’s interview an “incident happened” at the hospital but could not get into details due to patient privacy.
The representative added: “In cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety.
“Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and we offer our best wishes for a full recovery.”
When Nicole spoke to the LA Times, she said Mamie had “just opened her eyes” and was “aware” enough to be able to squeeze her hand.
She added the actress was in “tremendous” agony and she was being sedated after multiple surgeries.

OHMYGOSSIP — Armie Hammer has denied Robert Downey Jr paid for his rehab after he was hit with allegations of emotional abuse, manipulation, rape and cannibalism.
The 37-year-old ‘Social Network’ actor opened up about the rumour the 59-year-old Oscar-winner helped him after he was struck with the accusations from women in 2021 in a frank interview with Piers Morgan as he tries to relaunch his career.
He told Piers, 59, on his ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ YouTube show about gossip about Robert: “No, he did not. He did not pay for me to go to rehab.”
Armie did confirm the ‘Oppenheimer’ actor was “supportive” of him during his challenging time when he was frozen out of the acting business – but didn’t go into details about the help.
He added: “I don’t want to bring anyone else into my situation. There are a number of people who have been extremely helpful and I’m incredibly grateful.”
After Piers pushed the ‘Call Me by Your Name’ actor for more details, Armie said Robert – who won the best supporting Oscar this year for his role in Christopher Nolan’s epic atomic bomb drama ‘Oppenheimer’ – helped him “in the way where anyone in Hollywood who suffers from any sort of addiction issues, whether it be alcohol or process addiction or drugs, decides to get sober, that guy will find you, and he will help you”.
Robert spent 15 months in prison for drug and weapon charges from the late 1990s before he resurrected his career.
Armie did say to Piers Robert told him: “Sit down. Shut up. Everything’s gonna be okay.”
It was reported in 2022 by Vanity Fair Armie had checked into a Florida rehabilitation facility for help with drug, alcohol and sex issues.
Armie also told Piers he fears he would have died from his substance abuse issues if he hadn’t been ‘cancelled’ after the 2021 accusations.
He said about his addiction: “That’s how these things go. This much is enough. Then it’s not. Then this much is enough. Then it’s not.
“It’s dopamine. It’s you know, getting those hits in your brain.”

The 63-year-old ‘Californication’ actor married the ‘Bad Boys’ star, 58, in 1997 and they had daughter West, 25, and son, Kyd, 22, before they divorced in 2014.
He told The Times about the emotional fallout he was hit by following the split: “That darkness does deepen you. It makes you more empathetic and humble.”
Along with his acting, writing and music, David hosts hit podcast ‘Fail Better’ – one of the themes of which is exploring the “difference between humiliating and humbling”.
David also opened up about how people are constantly trying to work out if his role as womaniser Hank Moody in ‘Californication’ was linked to him checking into rehab for sex addiction in 2008.

OHMYGOSSIP — Elvis Presley’s estate have cast doubt on the authenticity of items being offered for sale at auction.
Graceland executives are suspicious of items being offered for sale by GWS Auctions – whose owner, Brigitte Kruse, is being sued for financial abuse by the late ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ hitmaker’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley – which are listed as being owned and used by The King, and have raised questions about various lots.
Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, told NBC News he became suspicious when a black grommet jacket, supposedly worn by Elvis in 1972 went up for sale – yet he insisted the one-of-a-king custom made garment is hanging in Graceland’s private collection, with the outlet reporting they were shown the piece and its receipt.
He said: “We know there was only one made, and guess what? We have it in our archives.”
Other pieces of memorabilia being sold by GWS Auctions include multiple pieces of jewellery and even a red 1962 Locheet Jetstar, yet the estate stressed he never actually flew on the plane and only owned it for a few months.
Many items being sold were accompanied by letters written by Priscilla to declare their authenticity, but some accompanied items that would have been bought by Elvis after they divorced in 1972, such as a pair of gold snowman cufflinks, which the auction house explained the ‘Jailhouse Rock’ singer had bought to celebrate his 1973 TV special ‘Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii’.
Joel said: “If they hadn’t talked for months and months and months in person, how does she know what Elvis did and didn’t do?”
The executive explained Elvis’ dad, Vernon Presley, had kept meticulous records of his son’s finances over the years so the estate is very knowledgeable on what he had owned.
He said: “Because [Vernon] had some trouble with the law early on in his adult life, he kept everything, every receipt.
“You come to us and say, ‘What did [Elvis] do on this day in 1962?’ We pretty much know what he did just by how he spent money.”
While Brigitte acknowledged Graceland’s extensive records, she insisted it is ridiculous to think everything Elvis ever owned would have been documented.
She told the outlet: “We weren’t there. None of us were there. So how can they without a doubt, unequivocally say, ‘We have everything?’ It’s an impossibility.”
Of Priscilla vouching for the items, she added: “If her personal recollections aren’t worth anything, then whose are?”
Priscilla filed a lawsuit earlier this month claiming she had had $1 million stolen from her, naming Brigitte as taking advantage of her along with Kevin Fialko, Vahe Sislyan, Lynn Walker Wright and Priscilla Presley Partners.
The ‘Naked Gun’ actress claimed Brigitte controlled her finances and forced her into a form of “indentured servitude” by “gaining her trust”, and the group isolated her from “the most important people in her life”, and duped her into “believing that they would take care of her” personally and financially.
It added: “They convinced (Priscilla) that all of her former advisors were either deceitful or incompetent, and that she was leaving millions of dollars on the table as the result of their mismanagement.”
The documents also claim by “isolating her and immersing themselves in every aspect of her life”, the defendants were able to “fraudulently induce” Priscilla into giving them power of attorney, control over her family and personal trusts, and “control over her bank accounts”.
Brigitte sued Priscilla for an alleged breach of contract in 2023 after they formed Priscilla Presley Partners.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Kingston and his mother have been indicted for fraud.
The ‘Beautiful Girls’ hitmaker and 61-year-old Janice Turner appeared in federal court on Friday (19.07.24) after a grand jury in Miami returned an indictment which accused the pair of falsely claiming they had sent bank transfers for luxury items.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida, the 34-year-old rapper and his mother’s charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud stem from their alleged involvement in “a scheme to defraud victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants through the use of fraudulent documents.”
The office went on to state the pair “unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants, when in fact no such bank wire or other monetary payment transfers had been executed by the purported banks, and thereafter the defendants retained or attempted to retain the vehicles, jewelry and other goods despite non-payment. Through the execution of this scheme, the defendants obtained in excess of $1 million in property.”
The pair are accused of having stolen almost $500,000 in jewellery, more than $200,000 from Bank of America, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, $160,000 from a Cadillac Escalade dealer and $86,000 from a maker of customised beds.
They were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five of wire fraud. If convicted, they face up to 20 years behind bars for each offence.
In May, Kingston was arrested at an army base in California – where he was performing – and extradited to Florida after his home in the state was raided, where his mother was also arrested.
At the time of his arrest, the musician was serving two years probation for trafficking stolen property.
His mother previously pleaded guilty to bank fraud for stealing $160,000 and served more than a year in prison.

The ‘Torchwood’ star came out to his parents in 1992 because he feared being infected with HIV but he actually told the world until much later in life, and the theatre star loves being able to help others.
He told Yours magazine: “I was one of the first people in the public eye to come out. And I know that’s been helpful to scores of young men.
“I’ll be approached at a convention and told that someone found it easier to come out because their parents liked me and I made no secret of being gay. The way I see it, I’m here to enjoy my life but I also believe I’m here to help other people – and they give me a lot back. I know my ‘fan family’, as I call them, are there for me no matter what.

Although I’d really known in my gut since the age of nine, when I’d seen my first girl magazine and been more interested in the male bits than the female bobs. When the time came to tell people, I flew home to see my family. It was 1992 and I was playing Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera in London. I was ill and had a low grade fever and stomach cramps. I’d been sexually active and I feared the worst. My parents and I sat at the table and I said: ‘I’m gay and I need an HIV test.’ That night we went out to dinner and they both admitted that my news hadn’t been a revelation. The next day, I had an HIV test. While I waited for the news, I travelled to Milwaukee to visit Carole and her husband Kevin. I explained I was home because I was sick. I told them I was having some tests. I also phoned my brother, and his response was: ‘It doesn’t change anything.’ Ultimately, the test came back negative. I did, however, have a gastric infection and a chest infection. I called Carole and told her what the test had really been for and she just said: ‘Ho hum, and what else is new?’ It seemed my family knew I was gay – so much for my bombshell news.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow feels a “deep sense of impending grief” about her children heading to college.
The 51-year-old Goop founder has daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 18, with her 47-year-old with ex-husband Chris Martin, and is stepmother to producer spouse Brad Falchuk’s children Brody and Isabella.
The lifestyle guru admits she has no idea what life will look like once her children fly the nest because motherhood has been her whole identity and “guiding force” for the past two decades.
Moses and Brody are heading to university later this year.
She told The Australian Women’s Weekly magazine: “It’ll be interesting to see how the morning routine changes with no kids in the house.”
Asked how she feels about them flying the nest, she confessed: “On the one hand incredible sadness.
A deep sense of impending grief.
“On the other hand this is exactly what should be happening. Your kids are supposed to be, you know, young adults who can achieve and cope and make connections and be resilient.
That’s exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house.” So it’s complicated? “Yeah. I’ve been so defined and so fulfilled by motherhood. It’s been kind of the central… it’s been like the central kind of… I don’t know even how to articulate it! It’s like the guiding force. It’s what I return to.”
Gwyneth hopes to find the “silver linings” and is “excited” to see how her life will change and what she will get up to without her brood at home.
The ‘Iron Man’ star added: “I’ll let you know. I was talking about this with a friend of mine the other day. As a woman I think we have these very distinct chapters, and you have no idea what these life changes are going to feel like until they happen, right? You don’t know what it feels like to be married until you’re married. You don’t know what it feels like to lose a parent until you lose a parent. It’s like you get a whole new lexicon of feelings and I don’t know what it’s going to be, but I’m going to try to stay really open, try to find, I don’t know, the silver linings.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has paid tribute to Tony Bennett for the anniversary of his death.
The 38-year-old singer has vowed to “keep on swingin'” in honour of her late friend and collaborator – with whom she made two albums, ‘Cheek to Cheek’ in 2014 and 2021’s ‘Love For Sale’, as well as appearing on his 2011 record ‘Duets II’ -and admitted she is “so grateful” for the other people he brought into her life.
Gaga took to Instagram on Saturday (20.07.24), the day before the anniversary of Tony’s death, and wrote alongside a photo of them together: “It’s been one year since Tony passed away.
“This picture says it all. I’m so grateful for my continued friendship with his wife Susan — the legacy of jazz music he left — and for the community of jazz musicians I still work with who all knew and loved Tony. We’re gonna keep on swingin’. Miss you [black heart emoji] life is a beautiful thing (sic)”.”
Tony died at the age of 96 after battling Alzheimer’s in the later years of his life, and following his passing, the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker paid tribute in a heartfelt post reflecting on their “magical power” together.
She wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of them embracing: “With Tony, I got to live my life in a time warp.
“Tony + I had this magical power. We transported ourselves to another era, modernized the music together, and gave it all new life as a singing duo. But it wasnt an act. Our relationship was very real.
“Sure he taught me about music, about showbiz life, but he also showed me how to keep my spirits high and my head screwed on straight. ‘Straight ahead,’ he’d say. He was an optimist, he believed in quality work AND quality life.
“Plus, there was the gratitude…Tony was always grateful. He served in WWII, marched with Martin Luther King Jr., and sang jazz with the greatest singers and players in the world.(sic)”
Tony had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016, which meant Gaga had been able to say a “very long and powerful” goodbye to the veteran entertainer and she insisted the 59-year age gap between them had never mattered.
She continued: “I’ve been grieving the loss of Tony for a long time. We had a very long and powerful goodbye.
“Though there were 5 decades between us, he was my friend. My real true friend. Our age difference didn’t matter– in fact, it gave us each something neither of us had with most people.
“We were from two different stages in life entirely–inspired. Losing Tony to Alzheimer’s has been painful but it was also really beautiful.
“An era of memory loss is such a sacred time in a persons life. There’s such a feeling of vulnerability and a desire to preserve dignity.
“All I wanted was for Tony to remember how much I loved him and how grateful I was to have him in my life.
“But, as that faded slowly I knew deep down he was sharing with me the most vulnerable moment in his life that he could–being willing to sing with me when his nature was changing so deeply. I’ll never forget this experience. I’ll never forget Tony Bennett.(sic)”
