Susan Sarandon doesn’t consider age or gender in partners: ‘Those are just details’

OHMYGOSSIP — Susan Sarandon doesn’t think about age or gender when it comes to relationships.
The 78-year-old actress – who was previously married to Chris Sarandon and has daughter Eva, 39, with Franco Amurri, and sons Jack, 35, and Miles, 32, with former partner Tim Robbins – isn’t too concerned about such “details” as she only wants to be with someone who has an “open heart and open mind”.
She told the Sunday Times magazine: “There are different people who are, you know, younger, but have lived a very full life that are more mature, more interesting.
“It’s very hard to find a much older guy who’s still curious and not just trying to hold on to things the way they were…
“It has to be somebody who has curiosity, a sense of humour, intelligence and appetite for life.
“So God bless you if you manage to find somebody who fulfils any of those things, whether they’re younger, whether they’re older, whether they’re female or male, whether they’re gender-fluid, whatever. Those are just details.
“I think the big thing is finding someone with an open heart and open mind who’s still curious.”
The ‘Gutter’ actress was in a relationship with Tim from 1987 until 2009 and she feels “bad” that some people are still upset about their split.
She said: “I still run into people who were devastated when we broke up. I feel so bad for them.”
But the pair are still friends and she’d be open to working with him again.
She noted: “You have kids … you don’t have any choice.”
Asked if she’d work with Tim again, she added: “If he brings me something I like, yeah.
“Imagine if people in Hollywood didn’t work with the people they slept with.”
The ‘Lovely Bones’ actress has had a lot of “interesting” things happen in her life but has refused to write a memoir.
She said: “I have sworn never to do that. The things that are really interesting I just can’t talk about. I’m pretty private, actually.
“[When it was suggested] I said, ‘What about a book about all the people I could have slept with and didn’t?’ ”

Prince William ‘hopeful’ Catherine, Princess of Wales will undertake royal tours in 2025

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Princess of Wales will “hopefully” be well enough to embark on royal tours next year.
The 42-year-old royal has made few public appearances this year after undergoing abdominal surgery followed by preventative chemotherapy but her husband Prince William has revealed she is looking to increase her workload in the coming months and he’d like her to join him on overseas visits again.
Speaking to reporters while in Cape Town, South Africa, for his Earthshot Prize last week, he said: “I think hopefully Catherine will be doing a bit more next year, so we’ll have some more trips, maybe, lined up.”
The heir to the throne – who has Princes George and Louis, 11 and six, and nine-year-old Princess Charlotte with Catherine – also spoke of his “different” approach to the monarchy in the modern world, explaining he and Catherine want to be seen as empathetic leaders with less formality.
He said: “I can only describe what I’m trying to do, and that is, I’m trying to do it differently and I’m trying to do it for my generation.
“And to give you more of an understanding around it, I’m doing it with maybe a smaller R in the royal, if you like – that’s maybe a better way of saying it.
“It’s more about impact, philanthropy, collaboration, convening and helping people.
“And I’m also going to throw empathy in there as well, because I really care about what I do. It helps and impacts people’s lives. And I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world.
“So that’s what I’m trying to bring – that’s what Catherine is trying to bring as well.”
William, 42, has particularly focused on mental health initiatives, his Earthshot Prize competition to save the environment and Homewards, a scheme to combat homelessness, but he isn’t sure what he will do next beyond it aligning with his core values.
He said: “Who knows what’s going to come next, but it all centres around those values of trying to help deliver change and make those lives better.”

Olivia Colman too emotional for social media

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman thinks she’d be a “mess” if she used social media.
The ‘Crown’ actress steers clear of apps such as X and Instagram because she knows how upsetting she would find it if she read something negative about herself.
She told My Weekly magazine: “I don’t do it because I think it would make me cry.
“I’d be devastated by someone being horrible.
“I think I’d be a mess if I had to deal with comments or negativity.
“I’m better off not being on it. It’s just not for me.
“I think I’m happier without it.
“I like my privacy.”
Despite her career success, the 50-year-old star – who has two sons, aged 19 and 17, and a nine-year-old daughter with husband Ed Sinclair – insisted her family always come first.
She said: “My family is everything to me. I love my children so much. I love them more than anything in the world.
“As much as I love acting, I never want to miss out on their lives.
“Nothing comes before them.
“I work to make sure we are secure, but they are always my first thought.”
Olivia previously admitted she is a “bit raw” and often can’t help crying on camera.
She told Britain’s Vogue magazine: “I have a sneaking suspicion that audiences have seen me crying a little bit too often in the past couple of years. And if people get really fed up with me, then I won’t get more work. And if I can’t do what I love, then I will shrivel up and die.
“If something touches me, I cry. That’s it. I’m a bit raw, a bit rubbish really. Often a director will say to me, ‘I don’t think this is a scene where your character cries.’ And all I can say is, good luck with that!”
And the ‘Paddington in Peru’ star even cried during her son’s parents’ evening at school.
She said: “It was slightly embarrassing at a parents’ meeting when a teacher was nice about my boy and I started to well up.”

Frankie Muniz is ‘OK’ after race crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Frankie Muniz insisted he was “OK” after crashing his car in a NASCAR race.
The former ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ star was seen limping towards an ambulance after losing control of his vehicle after taking a “hard hit” from behind during the Craftsman Truck Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway in Arizona on Friday (08.11.24) but he later reassured fans he wasn’t seriously injured and the race had been a learning experience.
The 38-year-old star told reporters after the race: “I’m OK.
“I felt like got a good opportunity to run with some guys, I made some passes. Lost a few spots on restarts, then went back out and passed them again.
“So it was good for me to figure out how to get by people. You know, I haven’t really gotten to do that much this year so that was really positive.
“We just wanted to keep going, I wanted to keep running. But there was nowhere for me to go, and I got hit from behind.
“But I don’t feel like there was anything I could have done there. That was a luck situation of getting through it, but it’s unfortunate.”
Despite the crash, the former actor is feeling optimistic about his new career and “so excited” for next season.
He added: “This year wasn’t what we had hoped, but this proved that I can race with guys, I can pass here. We’re gonna be better next year, and I’ve got the whole off-season to prepare. We’re gonna go get it.”
It was announced last month that Frankie was joining the Reaume Brothers Racing team for the 2025 season.
He told People magazine: “I don’t want to say it’s a long time coming, but this has been a dream of mine for forever.
“I started with doing the open wheel route. I thought I was going to go IndyCar, kind of the Formula 1 route, but I always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to try NASCAR.
“I wanted to do it. I grew up watching NASCAR. I was a huge fan, but it’s not something I necessarily thought that I’d ever get the opportunity to do.”

My success hasn’t happened overnight, says Kelly Reilly

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Reilly’s success “hasn’t happened overnight”.
The 47-year-old actress has starred in a host of big-budget productions during her career, including ‘True Detective’, ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ – but Kelly feels she’s been forced to earn all of her recent success.
Asked how it feels to be an in-demand leading lady, Kelly told the BBC: “Well, I’m 47 years old, it hasn’t happened overnight, you know. So it’s not like I’m getting whiplash.
“I have been a working actor for 30 years. It’s not lost on me that there’s a unicorn of shows that have such success worldwide and a character that has had this amount of attention or appeal.
“But I treat it at arm’s length. I don’t spend too much time thinking about it. I have a very normal life. It’s very important to me that my life is normal. Nothing has changed, other than I’m really busy.
“I don’t get to sleep at home very often, which is annoying because I love home!”
Kelly plays Beth Dutton in ‘Yellowstone’ and she “didn’t do any press” before the show began, because she wanted people to believe in her character.
Kelly shared: “People talk to me as if Beth is real. We all talk about Beth like she’s a real-life person.
“I’m always going to be a bit of a let down when people meet me. I go into the local bakery and the lady is like, ‘I’d love to drink with you.’
“I know what she means – she wants to drink with Beth. People want to feel part of that energy … someone so connected with their primal self.
“And we’re so disconnected. We’re all on our phones, on social media. It is like it doesn’t happen if someone doesn’t take a picture of it. Beth is the opposite of that. She is just so alive.”

King Charles leads the National Service of Remembrance

OHMYGOSSIP — King Charles led the UK in two minutes of silence at the National Service of Remembrance on Sunday (10.11.24).
The 75-year-old monarch – who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year – was joined by other senior members of the royal family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, as the nation remembered the men and women who lost their lives at war.
The king – who was dressed in the Royal Navy uniform of the Admiral of the Fleet – laid a wreath on behalf of the nation at the Cenotaph in central London.
In February, Buckingham Palace announced that Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, but he’s made a gradual return to public duties over recent months.
Prince William, Prince Edward and Princess Anne also laid wreaths at the war memorial in London, while Catherine, Princess of Wales and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh both watched the service from a balcony.
Catherine, 42, has been gradually returning to public duties herself, after undergoing her own cancer treatment earlier this year.
However, Queen Camilla was absent from the annual service after she was recently diagnosed with a “seasonal chest infection”.
Buckingham Palace explained that Camilla, 77, was “following doctors’ guidance” by missing the Remembrance events in London over the weekend.
The Palace said in a statement: “Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events.”
Despite this, Camilla still intended to “mark the occasion privately at home”.
The statement continued: “While this is a source of great disappointment to the Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week.”

Kelly Reilly admits to being ‘very introverted’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Reilly is “very introverted”.
The 47-year-old actress plays Beth Dutton in ‘Yellowstone’, the neo-Western drama series, and Kelly has admitted to being very different to her on-screen character.
She told the BBC: “I’m very introverted. I don’t have any dreams of vengeance in my life.
“There’s something really exciting about playing her. I feel like I’m on an adrenaline rush for four months while I play her, and when I’m finished I’m like, I now have to go back to my quiet, boring life. And I’m very grateful for my quiet, boring life after I’ve played her.
“But by the time every summer comes around where I’m sort of gearing up again and the scripts start coming in, I get excited again to meet her.
“I’m very aware of the gift of her as a character, but I lock her up in a padlocked box for six months of the year.”
Kelly’s on-screen character has developed a big fan following, and the actress feels she’s “penetrated a zeitgeist in women specifically”.
Kelly explained: “I think it is that unencumbered kind of freedom that she moves through the world with. She is not afraid of dying, she is not afraid of losing.
“There is a scene in season two where she is being attacked by a man who is in the process of raping her and is about to kill her and she is covered in blood.
“She will not be a victim to him. And I think for women and for me, I love that. She is fierce.”
Despite this, Kelly doesn’t know what a happening ending would look like for Beth.
She said: “I would like something cathartic, potentially. I would hate to leave her out in the wilderness. But I don’t know if happiness is something any of these characters strive for.
“They strive to protect, they strive to kill, they strive to be killed. These are not looking for peaceful lives.”

Pamela Anderson feels ‘grateful’ for life experiences

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson is “grateful” for all the troubles she’s experienced in her life.
The 57-year-old actress shot to stardom in the 90s, when her personal life became a source of fascination for people around the world – but Pamela believes she learned some important lessons through that experience.
The former ‘Baywatch’ star – who has been married five times – told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I don’t think I’ve failed.
“Every love, every experience, is a learning experience, and I’m grateful for everything. But in hindsight I look and I see a person that had some trauma early in her life.”
Pamela “protected” herself by curating her own public image.
The actress – who became a sex symbol in the 90s – explained that the image she created “was how I protected myself and how I tried to be certain ways for certain people to make them happy. And then I just caught myself and I said, ‘What am I doing? Who am I competing with? What am I trying to accomplish?’
“When I look at my past, I think I had no control. I don’t come from an entertainment family. I don’t come from anything. I was just learning as I went.”
Pamela has released a memoir and a Netflix documentary in recent years, and the actress feels she’s been successful in reclaiming “the narrative” that surrounds her life.
The Hollywood star – who has sons Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 26 – said: “There were times when people were exploiting my personal life and that was hard on all of us as a family.
“I feel like I’ve at least reclaimed the narrative of my life and the boys are part of that. I don’t want to be defined by what has happened to me – I want to be defined by what I do. And that’s the difference now.”

Susan Sarandon bemoans ‘selfishness and greed’ of the modern world

OHMYGOSSIP — Susan Sarandon thinks the world needs to rediscover the attitude of the 60s.
The 78-year-old actress feels society suffers from a culture of “negativity and selfishness and greed”, and Susan would love to see the world rediscover the spirit of the 60s.
The Hollywood star – who was married to actor Chris Sarandon between 1967 and 1979 – told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I think that the Beatles were right. What is the line? ‘The love you take is equal to the love you make.’
“I think it’s very hard these days, when we’re being assailed by so much negativity and selfishness and greed, to hold a place of love and possibility that people can find when the dust settles.”
Susan previously revealed that she’s determined to “leave the world a little better”.
The actress is well-known for her active support of progressive causes, and Susan is desperate to have a positive impact on the world.
She told British Vogue magazine: “I’m painfully aware of the lottery of birth. Injustice really bothers me.
“In my business you are constantly developing empathy and imagination – once you can put yourself in another mother’s struggles you can’t resist activism. I want to leave the world a little better or at least know I tried. You create your life and passion with the energy you put out there.”
Despite her fame and success, Susan has actually made a concerted effort to simplify her own lifestyle in recent years.
The award-winning star – who has kids Eva, 39, Jack, 35, and Miles, 32 – explained: “[My] lifestyle really went through the biggest change when I had three children. Now I’m mostly simplifying.”

James Van Der Beek overwhelmed by response to cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — James Van Der Beek has been overwhelmed by the support he’s received since revealing his cancer diagnosis.
The 47-year-old actor previously announced that he’s been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and James has been amazed by the outpouring of love and support.
Speaking to PEOPLE, James shared: “Telling people required a lot of energy.
“I’m an empath. I like to take care of everybody. I’m a provider, and especially at that point, I was trying to be Superman and be all things to all people and be a dad and a provider. And so to have to tell people and my father and my siblings and my kids, it was really tricky.”
James made a concerted effort to remain as upbeat as possible while sharing the news.
He explained: “I just kind of went into it with the same attitude that this is curable. I can handle this, but this is what’s going on.”
The actor has been wowed by the supportive response of his friends and family.
James – who is best known for playing Dawson Leery on the hit TV show ‘Dawson’s Creek’ – said: “It was amazing. I’m never the person who asked for any help – ever. It’s not in my DNA. And I thought that was a fine way to be until cancer.
“The way friends showed up was such a beautiful experience – and I would never have otherwise seen how much people care about me.”
James has actually received messages of support from all over the world, and he’s been overwhelmed by the reaction.
James said: “When people offer words of support and just tell me they’re thinking about me, it means the world.”

Emily Watson: You have to be a bit of an idiot to be an actor

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Watson thinks “you have to be a bit of an idiot to be an actor”.
The 57-year-old star – who has enjoyed a hugely successful career on stage and screen – admits she was “very, very green” when she was nominated for an Oscar for her debut film role in ‘Breaking the Waves’, the 1996 melodrama film.
Speaking to the Observer newspaper, Emily recalled: “I was very, very green and I was just going where I was told. I don’t think I ever had an instinct for it; you either have or you haven’t.
“I think I’m good at what I do because I’m an idiot. You have to be a bit of an idiot to be an actor.”
Asked to elaborate on her comments, Emily explained: “Well, at some level, it’s like being a small kid when you believe in Santa. Somewhere inside you – or this is how I do it anyway – I really believe it.
“Obviously, not all of me thinks that, because I know that, you know, my son needs some school shoes or whatever. But that allows you to abandon yourself to something in a way that is really quite stupid. In a good way, I think.”
Emily acknowledges that acting work doesn’t provide much stability or certainty. But the movie star actually finds the uncertainty to be “quite exciting”, admitting that she has a “great life”.
The actress shared: “It is quite exciting, except for the fact that I’m in my 50s and I’ve got teenagers and a house and a dog. And sometimes you go: ‘God, I wish they’d told me when I was 22 that I’d be living out of a suitcase my entire life.’ But I’m not complaining, because it’s a great life, and I love it.”

Pamela Anderson surprised by reaction to make-up-free appearance

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson was shocked by the public’s reaction to her make-up-free appearance.
The 57-year-old actress adopted a make-up-free look at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023, and Pamela “didn’t realise” that it was going to cause such a stir.
The ‘Last Showgirl’ star – who achieved sex symbol status in the 90s – told The Sunday Times newspaper: “There’s these beautiful clothes. I’m wearing Vivienne Westwood. I have this great hat and beautiful coat. Nobody’s going to notice if I don’t wear any make-up.
“I didn’t realise it was going to start all of this, all these people really relating to me.”
Pamela thinks her appearance actually sent a strong message to other women.
She explained: “It’s a great message – we are good enough just the way we are. I have to remind myself of that every day.”
Pamela feels the public’s perception of her has changed over recent times.
The actress believes the shift is also beneficial for her two sons.
Pamela – who has Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 26, with her ex-husband Tommy Lee – shared: “[My sons] probably don’t feel they have to defend their mom any more.
“My public perception has changed and you don’t realise how much that affects your children. I think they feel a lot more comfortable now too, looking at me at this point in my life … It has been a journey for all of us, but we’re all in a better place now.”
Pamela’s sons share her passion for nature and vegan food, and the actress is thrilled that they’ve followed in her footsteps.
She said: “It has definitely impacted them, my lifestyle. They love that mom’s in the garden, she’s pickling, making mustard …”

Catherine, Princess of Wales to attend Remembrance events

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Princess of Wales will attend Remembrance events in London over the weekend.
The 42-year-old royal has slowly been returning to public duties after undergoing abdominal surgery and subsequent preventative chemotherapy treatment, and Buckingham Palace have now confirmed she will be present for the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday (09.11.24) evening and the service at the Cenotaph on Sunday (10.11.24).
Queen Camilla’s attendance has yet to be confirmed as she withdrew from engagements this week after contracting a chest infection and she will take medical advice nearer the time.
The confirmation of Catherine’s attendance comes after her husband Prince William admitted 2024 has been “brutal” as both his wife and father King Charles underwent cancer treatment.
Asked on his trip to South Africa how his year has been, he replied: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.
“Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.
“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
Catherine revealed in a video message in March she was undergoing cancer treatment, then in September issued another video saying she had finished her chemotherapy and was taking each day as it comes.
William gave another rare update on his wife’s health amid his four-day visit to South Africa for his Earthshot Prize ceremony.
He said of his wife: “She’s doing really well thanks. And I hopefully she is watching tonight. Cheering me on.
“She’s been amazing this whole year. I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success.”
