BTS’ Suga apologises after scooter incident

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS star Suga has apologised after being booked for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated.
The 31-year-old singer – who is currently working as a social service agent as part of his compulsory military service- has received an undisclosed fine and lost his license after being booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act in Seoul, and he deeply regrets his actions.
He said in a statement shared online: “I am very heavy-hearted and apologetic to bring you disappointing news.
“After drinking at a dinner yesterday night, I rode an electric scooter home. I violated the Road Traffic Act due to my complacent thinking that it was a short distance and my failure to recognise that using an electric scooter while intoxicated was prohibited.
“I fell while parking the scooter in front of my house, and the nearby police officer conducted a breathalyser test, resulting in the cancellation of my license and a fine.
“Although there were no victims or damaged facilities in this process, it is entirely my responsibility without any excuse, and I sincerely apologize to everyone.”
“I apologise to everyone hurt by my careless and wrong actions, and I will be more careful in my actions in the future to prevent such incidents from occurring again.”
The ‘Butter’ hitmaker’s record label, Big Hit, have also apologised for the “inappropriate behaviour” of the star, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi.
They said in a statement: “We express our sincere apology for the incident involving BTS member Suga and his electric kickboard accident.
“We apologise for the disappointment caused by the artist’s inappropriate behaviour.
“As a social service agent during his military service, he is prepared to accept any disciplinary actions from his place of work for causing a social disturbance.
“We will take greater care to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.”

Plans approved for memorial garden in honour of Queen Elizabeth

OHMYGOSSIP — A memorial garden to honour the late Queen Elizabeth has been approved.
The Royal Parks submitted plans for a two-acre plot on the site of a disused plant nursery at London’s Regent’s Park for a tribute that will be free to the public, and they have now been approved by Westminster Council.
Planning documents obtained by the Daily Telegraph newspaper described the garden as being “intended to provide a relaxing, but stimulating environment that promotes enjoyment through sight, scent, touch and sound” with “quieter areas for solitary enjoyment”.
They added: “The visual, textural, and sensual elements of the garden have all been well considered to create a garden which meaningfully celebrates the life of Queen Elizabeth II but is also accessible, inclusive and contributes positively to the wider park, a Registered Park and Garden.”
The garden is expected to open in 2026 to mark what would have been the monarch’s 100th birthday.
Andrew Scattergood, chief executive of The Royal Parks, said: “The approval of planning permission marks an exciting step forward in the creation of the new garden, which is designed to be a tranquil space for reflection, accessible to all.
“It provides a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.”
It will include plants that were significant to the queen and diverse habitats such as meadows, woodlands, hedgerows with climate-resilient plants and nectar-rich planting in order to attract wildlife.
The garden will also have a straight path running through it to “represent the late Queen’s unwavering loyalty and service with each end offering a moment of quiet reflection”.
Designers HTA Design LLP will be guided by sustainable practices, with steel from the former nursery greenhouses used to create elements of a new pergola, and repurposed water tower and concrete from demolition material will be recycled and transformed into growing mediums/
Plants to feature in the garden will likely include Narcissus Diamond Jubilee and Tulipa Royal Celebration, as well as the queen’s favourite, Lily of the Valley, which were incorporated into her coronation bouquet in 1953.

A source has told Page Six cheating has nothing to do with the reason the couple, who secretly married in 2017, have broken up.
The insider added: “They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else.
“This is something she wants to do.”
The source also said the divorce was not “something that happened overnight”.

Josh Hartnett thinks Taylor Swift’s fans are as fanatical as ‘over-the-top’ music crowd in his new film ‘Trap’

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Hartnett thinks Taylor Swift’s fans are as fanatical as the “over-the-top” concertgoers in his new film ‘Trap’.
The 46-year-old actor plays a serial killer father in M Night Shyalaman’s thriller, who takes his daughter to a huge concert by fictional pop star Lady Raven, where he is told the FBI are hunting him.
Josh told People he thought the fandom on display in the movie was exaggerated until he attended one of 34-year-old Taylor’s ‘Eras Tour’ shows in London with his daughters.
He said: “I became well-versed after the movie, but before I really didn’t know.”
Josh added about what he called the “mania” surrounding Taylor: “Some of the stuff, while we were filming (‘Trap’), I was thinking, ‘God, this is a little over the top. The amount of the fervour of the audience, and they know every word’.
“Then I went to the concert. I was like, ‘No, it’s exactly right.”
Josh has four children with his actress wife Tamsin Egerton, 35, the eldest of whom turns nine later this year.
The actor added getting ready for Taylor’s gig meant repeatedly listening to her tunes with his girls for half a year.
He said: “The thing is, my kids weren’t really into pop music so much last year when we shot (‘Trap’.)
“Then when they heard the ‘Eras Tour’ was coming because their friends at school were all into the concept, they just immediately became Swifties – and really hardcore Swifties.
“We listened to that music for six months non-stop in the car before we went to the show.
“The album that they play a lot at our house is ‘1989’, and I like that album. It’s a good album.”
Josh added his girls are also into horses, saying: “What’s fun about being a dad is that your kids introduce you to new things that you didn’t know you’d ever be interested in.
“You end up doing things that you never would do for yourself.
“Right now my kids are very into riding horses, so I’m learning about that stuff. I’m excited to learn more things (with them.)”

Prince Harry fears children exposed to Internet ‘rabbit holes’ could take their lives ‘within 24 hours’ of viewing harmful material

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry fears children exposed to Internet “rabbit holes” could end up taking their lives “within 24 hours” of viewing harmful material.
The father-of-two, 39, who has son Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet with his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – who celebrated her 43rd birthday on Sunday (04.08.24) – shared his terror over the power of the web on children while launching the Parents Network campaign, which aims to secure child safety online.
He said while opening up on CBS to anchor Jane Pauley about the initiative in a joint interview with Meghan: “We always talk about in the olden days, if kids are under your roof, you know what they are up to. At least they’re safe.
“But now, they could in the next room, in a tablet or phone, going down these rabbit holes, and within 24 hours they could be taking their life.”
Harry and Meghan’s pre-recorded interview, which was shown on Sunday, also showed footage of them meeting with a group of parents who lost their children to suicide.
Meghan also discussed their experience with their children and their desire to shield them from all harm.
She added: “Our kids are young – they’re three and five – they’re amazing, but all you want to do as parents is protect them.
“And so as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good.”
When Jane, 73, said “you hope that when your children ask for help, someone is there to give it”, Harry added only “if you know to help”.
He went on: “At this point we’ve got to the stage where almost every parent needs to be a first responder.
“And even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t be able to tell the signs of possible suicide. That is the terrifying piece of this.”
Meghan added: “You have to start somewhere. Anyone watching this or anyone able to make change needs to look through the lens of, ‘What if this was my son or daughter?’
“Your son or daughter who come home who are joyful, who I love, and one day, right under my roof, our entire lives change because of something that’s completely out of my control.
“And if you look at is as a parent, there is no way to see it any other way than to try and find a solution.”

Liam Gallagher’s son Gene gets ‘the feeling’ his dad wants Oasis reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher’s son Gene gets “the feeling” his father wants an Oasis reunion.
The 23-year-old model and musician spoke out amid growing rumours the band was set to get together again – as the 30th anniversary of their debut album ‘Definitely, Maybe’ is set to be marked with a re-release at the end of August.
He told The Times: “I get the feeling my dad wants it, too. Let’s hope it happens. It’s easier to speak about after a couple of pints.”
Gene added after saying the reunion is “nothing to do with”: “I mean, will they? I don’t know. I would love it but it’s so beyond my control.”
He also added his and 51-year-old Liam’s all-time favourite Oasis song is ‘Wonderwall’, despite the rocker’s estranged brother Noel, 57, often playing the song live and solo.
Talk of an Oasis reunion was recently heightened by a post from the official Oasis X account that shared aerial footage of a large house on the banks of a river in the countryside – which only turned out to be a teaser for the release of new limited edition album formats.
Gene also told how he is close friends with Noel’s 24-year-old daughter Anaïs Gallagher.
Liam has told The Guardian there was “no way” Oasis would disappear into obscurity insisting: “There’s no way I’m letting Oasis turn into one of these (groups) where you just wrap an album in cellophane every 10 years.”
Noel said in 2022 a “set of extraordinary circumstances” would be required for Oasis to reform and has said if Liam called him it could be on the table.
But he interrupted one of his solo gigs in Halifax last week to have a pop at Liam.
He told the crowd: “What is happening with Liam next year? I don’t know. You tell me.
“Why, is something going on? Is there? Liam is touring? He’s touring. Oh right. Well, he should be very thankful for my genius.
“Are you going to go see him? Just remember who wrote all the f****** songs.”

Dan Aykroyd would have spent life working as jail clerk if pal hadn’t talked him into pursuing comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Aykroyd would have spent his life working as a jail clerk if a friend hadn’t talked him into pursuing comedy and acting.
The ‘Ghostbusters’ star, 72, admitted he nearly took a regular job after studying criminology, as his first dream was simply getting a pay cheque to get enough money to drive a car.
Canadian Dan told People: “My first passion was really just surviving in Ottawa in the government town as an upper middle class son of bureaucrats.
“I started work on the Canadian National Railway unloading boxcars at 14 and I have not stopped working since.”
He added he was desperate to “get a pay cheque, borrow a friend’s car and put gas in it, take a lady on a date”.
But his creative side was fuelled when his parents put him in improvisation classes when he was aged 12, with Dan adding: “Every weekend there was a class right down the street from where I lived, in the basement of the Ottawa Theatre.
“At 12 years old, I was studying what I eventually went on to doing professionally – though then I didn’t think I’d ever take it up as a profession.”
Dan went to college at Canada’s Carleton University, where he studied criminology and took a job driving a mail truck.
But it wasn’t until his friend Valri Bromfield told him to give up the 9 to 5 grind that he went into acting.
He added: “She said, ‘You’re not going to be a prison guard. We’re going to write comedy and you’re going into comedy’.”
The pair had a cable TV show, which they showed future ‘Saturday Night Live’ creator Lorne Michaels, now 79, who gave them TV work and kept Dan in mind as a potential top talent.
Dan said: “Then I went on to a career at Second City with Valri, and it was really her urging and nudging that got me out of Ottawa.
“I would’ve worked as a clerk in the penitentiary service for 20 years if I’d had my druthers (preference.) I’d just be retiring.
“It was Valeri. I’ve got to thank her for taking me out of Ottawa. I’ve had a beautiful run.”

The 61-year-old actress became known around the world for starring as kooky singer Phoebe Buffay in the 1990s sitcom alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer but admitted it took her a couple of seasons to really settle into the character.
Speaking on the SiriusXM show ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name’, she said: “[It was] if not a year and a half, maybe two seasons, before I felt like I had Phoebe down.
“The things she said were so outrageously illogical that in order for me to justify them, you know, I felt like ‘Oof!
“It just took a lot of work to figure out.
“’All right, how is it possible that I think this is true or a good idea or a reasonable thing to say?’ I’m like, ‘Something’s wrong,’ ‘cause I’m not doing the work I was doing,”
The ‘Better Nate Than Ever’ star even thought she was being “lazy” by the time the second year came around until her co-star Matt – who played Joey Tribbiani – gave her some advice.
She added: “I’m slacking off. I’m being lazy and I was getting really mad at myself, and LeBlanc came. He said, ‘What’s going on with you?’ I said, ‘I’m being lazy. I’m not doing the work that I did first season, second season. I’m not doing the work I did for Phoebe, so it can’t be good.
“And he went, ‘No, you know who the character is now. You don’t need to do the work you did. You got it,” and I went, ‘What? Oh’.
“That was enough.
“It’s sort of like someone shook me ‘cause I was getting hysterical. I wasn’t literally getting hysterical, but you know like if you’re getting hysterical, someone slaps you back. You’re like, ‘Oh, thanks. That’s what I needed.”

The 33-year-old actor – who is the son of actor Nicholas Cage – was arrested last month in connection with an incident back in April, when he was said to have “brutally assaulted” Christina Fulton in what she described as a “manic rage”, and he appeared in court on Wednesday (31.07.24) to answer the charges.
Weston pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon, TMZ reports.
And on leaving the courthouse in Los Angeles, Weston told the outlet he thinks his mom “needs help” but didn’t answer when asked if they had reconciled.
Christina was also present for the hearing, and appeared emotional as she made her way into the building.
She told TMZ of her son: “I hope he gets the help he needs.”
The 57-year-old actress previously admitted she was “deeply saddened” by Weston’s arrest as she wanted him to be admitted for a mental health evaluation.
She previously said in a statement: “On April 28th, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help.
“When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage. Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries.
“Despite my desperate pleas to the responding police officers to detain him for a mental-health evaluation, the police officers refused my request.
“As a mother, I am deeply saddened and concerned about Weston’s ongoing mental-health crisis.
“It is imperative that he receives the help he desperately needs.”
Weston was arrested on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon after turning himself into police earlier this week and was later released on a $150,000 bond.
Los Angeles police told People magazine: “During the incident, Cage punched two victims multiple times, causing injury. LAPD responded, and after meeting with all parties, a police report was completed.”

Christina and Nicolas started dating in 1988 and had Weston in 1990, but the couple never married and split within a year of their son being born.

Kathie Lee Gifford ‘doing well’ after recent hospitalisation

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathie Lee Gifford is “doing well” following her recent hospitalisation.
The 70-year-old star spent a week in hospital after fracturing her pelvis while recovering from hip replacement surgery, and she’s very happy to be back home and on the mend.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I’m doing well! I’m happy to be out of the hospital. As lovely as all those people are to me, they really took good care of me, but there’s no place like home.”
The former ‘Today’ host has been having physical therapy sessions every day and knows it could take some time before she is fully healed.
She added: “They gotta get you up and moving. You don’t want your bones to atrophy.
“It can be anywhere from three months to, you know, just a month to who knows? I just have to listen to them this time.”
Kathy blames herself for her injury as she had pushed herself too far once she started feeling better after her hip operation.
She said: “This is what happens most of the time – you think you’re better, because you are so much better, and then you feel like you’re back to absolute normal, and you’re not.
“Our bones, things like that, don’t heal for sometimes months — even though you feel so much better.”
Recalling how she’d had a hectic day signing her new book, ”Herod and Mary: The True Story of the Tyrant King and the Mother of the Risen Savior’, she said: “I knew that night, when I went to sleep, I said, ‘Kathie, you did too much today. You’re hurting again where you haven’t been hurting.’ I said, ‘I’ll sleep it off.’ And so the next day, I did the signing [and] it went really, really well.”
She then arranged to have an afternoon out with her friend, and fell down as she rushed to open the door.
She said: “On the way down [the stairs] and in my eagerness to get to my friend and get her out of the heat… I missed a step and I went tumbling.
“It’s my own fault. I should not have been in a hurry, you know? What am I in a hurry for?”

Lottie Tomlinson opens up on the deaths of her mother and sister: ‘You just go into a survival mode’

The 25-year-old makeup artist – who is the younger sister of One Direction star Louis Tomlinson – lost her mother Johannah when she died in 2016 aged 43 following a battle with leukemia and stepped into a maternal role for the sake of her five younger siblings but was sent back to “square one” of her grief three years later when her sister Félicité suffered a fatal overdose at the age of 19.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’, she told stand-in host Christine Lampard: “I think it was such a natural instinct for me [to take over] and credit my mum for that.
“She instilled this maternal instinct into us all and when something like that happens, you go into a survival mode and straight away I knew that the little ones needed me and I wanted to do whatever I could to make things easier for them.
” It kind of just came naturally but it was such a life-changing experience for me to have that repsonsilbity and I think it’s really set the tone for everything that’s happened since.
“I think it was really hard that we knew we were going to have to go back to square one [when my sister died].
“When something as big as losing a parent happens, you never expect it to get any worse than that.
