Ryan Reynolds recalls his ‘complicated’ relationship with his dad

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds had a “complicated” relationship with his dad.
The 47-year-old actor lost his dad, James Reynolds, aged 74, in 2015 – but Ryan feels like his own experience of fatherhood has helped to give him some “closure”.
The Hollywood star – who has James, nine, Inez, seven, Betty, four, and Olin, whose birth was announced in February 2023, with actress Blake Lively – told PEOPLE: “I think most men and boys have a slightly complicated relationship with their father. But I also think that the healing for me or the closure around my dad actually really comes more through my relationship with my own kids.”
Ryan’s dad lived with Parkinson’s disease for nearly 20 years, but the actor remembers his dad as a man of “incredible integrity”.
The movie star – who has been married to Blake since 2012 – added: “He did not lie. He had this compulsion and moral and ethical compass that was I think very impressive.”
Despite this, Ryan also acknowledged some of his dad’s bad traits.
The ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ star – who is now one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood – said: “[It] always pushed him to do the right thing at the right time, even though he made a massive amount of mistakes, was not a great communicator, blew it, all kinds of stuff.
“But I blow it all the time and we all do. It’s funny that our parents are meant to have this kind of infallibility. So I do feel like part of that process and journey for me is with my own kids … I get to fill in those little gaps that maybe hurt me with respect to my own father.”

Kim Kardashian’s ‘biggest fear’ is getting booed

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian has admitted her “biggest fear” is getting “booed”.
The ‘Kardashians’ star made the confession as she walked onto a late-night chat show this week.
Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, she admitted: “It’s my biggest fear in life to get booed, so this welcome is, like, so, so good!”
The host replied: “Never!
“They love you. Come on! We’re New York City, we love ya.”
It’s no surprise it’s the SKIMS founder’s fear as she was booed during ‘The Roast of Tom Brady’.
The 43-year-old reality star was among a panel of roasters who lined up to mock the retired NFL player, 47, during the live-streamed Netflix special in May, and ended up being loudly heckled by the crowd for more than 10 seconds at the Kia Forum in California when she took to the stage before she had even made her first joke.
But the version of the special now available on the streamer has a disclaimer saying the show has been “edited from a previous livestream”, with the boos removed.
Host Kevin Hart’s attempts to calm down the crowd were also slashed from the show.
During the original stream, the shouting began as Kevin, 45, introduced Kim – which was so loud she had to restart her first gag.
She told her critics: “Alright, alright,” as Kevin cried out: “Whoa, whoa, whoa” from his seat.
Despite Kevin backing her, Kim’s first gag was aimed at him, as she mocked his height and the size of his manhood.
She then roasted Tom with a string of sexual jokes.
Kim and Tom were rumoured to have dated in the past and one of her jokes referenced the gossip, with the reality star saying: “I wasn’t gonna come tonight, but since I’m not here as Tom’s date, there’s still a good chance I might.”
Also referencing her sex tape scandal, she added: “Speaking of Tom and I dating, I know there were some rumours that we were, and I’d never say if we did or not. I’d just release the tape.”
Kim appeared to grow on the audience as the special went on and she received a wave of applause for a joke about her dating Tom that referenced her 74-year-old transgender stepdad Caitlyn Jenner: “I do know it would never work out. An ex-athlete, high cheekbones, silky hair – you remind me too much of my stepdad.”

Jeff Goldblum helps struggling actors

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Goldblum gave a group of struggling actors a helping hand by hiring them to appear alongside him on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’.
The ‘Jurassic Park’ star guest-hosted the show this week and during Thursday night’s (15.08.24) episode, he helped out the actors by giving them jobs – coming on stage to do an impression of the movie star – to give them the money and working hours they needed to qualify for their SAG-AFTRA union health insurance.
Jeff explained of the plan: “You may think that being a professional actor … is both easy and glamorous and for some, it is, but the vast majority of actors are working class people just trying to make ends meet. They actually have to make a certain amount of money each year just to qualify for health coverage through the Screen Actors Guild, and that’s not an easy thing to do.
“Sometimes an actor can be so close to that threshold of earnings that they only need to land one more role to qualify. So tonight, I’m going to help a few actors who are in that very situation for real by casting them in a role on the show …
“In fact, I have cast them all in the same role.”
He then introduced a number of actors doing impressions of the host who had qualified for health insurance after being cast on the show. They told Jeff they were planning to use their coverage to get help including dental work, a check-up with a dermatologist and a podiatrist appointment.
Kerry Washington pulled a similar stunt back in 2022 when she guest-hosted the show and hired actors to come on the show and deliver a line to help them qualify for their insurance coverage.
During her appearance on the show, Kerry explained: “Acting is one of those jobs that seems very, very glamorous. Sometimes it is. But in reality, it can also be very tough. When I first started out, I had to supplement my income by being a substitute teacher, a yoga instructor, a hostess at a restaurant.
“So it meant a lot to me the first time that I qualified for that sweet Screen Actors Guild health insurance. Yes, really. Now I’m a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild, or SAG as we say in the biz, but in order to get SAG healthcare, you have to make a certain amount of money each year, which is not always easy to do.
“So, we invited a few fellow real actors to the show tonight who are very close to qualifying for coverage. And they will get there if they deliver just one more line of dialogue on TV.”

Gena Rowlands’ son Nick Cassavetes pays tribute to late mom

OHMYGOSSIP — Gena Rowlands’ son Nick Cassavetes has paid tribute to his late mom.
The actress, whose best-known roles include dementia-stricken Allie in ‘The Notebook’, passed away on Wednesday (14.08.24) at her home in Indian Wells, California, aged 94.
And Nick, who helmed the romantic drama, has taken to his Instagram Stories to share all the touching messages that have flooded in following the sad news of her passing.
Nick also shared an old photograph of the pair to his main grid and wrote: “One last hurrah. Love you, Mom. See you soon…”
According to Deadline, the ‘Another Woman’ star, who quit acting in 2015, was surrounded by family at the time of her death, but no cause of death has been given.
In June, it was revealed that Gena was in the “full” grip of Alzheimer’s.
While celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘The Notebook’, Gena’s 65-year-old filmmaker son told Entertainment Weekly: “I got my mom to play older Allie, and we spent a lot of time talking about Alzheimer’s and wanting to be authentic with it, and now, for the last five years, she’s had Alzheimer’s.
“She’s in full dementia, and it’s so crazy – we lived it, she acted it, and now it’s on us.”
Gena’s late mother Lady Rowlands died aged 95 in 1999 after suffering the degenerative disease.
The actress opened up in 2004 about how her mum’s struggle with Alzheimer’s had influenced her decision to play Allie in ‘The Notebook’, adapted from Nicholas Sparks’ debut 1996 novel.
She told O magazine: “I went through that with my mother, and if Nick hadn’t directed the film, I don’t think I would have gone for it – it’s just too hard.
“It was a tough but wonderful movie.”
Gena was also renowned for her collaborations with her late husband, John Cassavetes – who died in 1989, aged 59, from complications linked to liver disease – including the 1974 film ‘A Woman Under the Influence’ and ‘Gloria’ six years later.
She received Oscar nominations for both roles and her last film was the 2014 comedy ‘Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks’, which co-starred 48-year-old Cheyenne Jackson.
Gena also won four Emmy Awards – for ‘The Betty Ford Story’, ‘The Incredible Mrs Ritchie’, ‘Face of a Stranger’, and ‘Hysterical Blindness’ – and two Golden Globes.

Usher axed tour dates after suffering neck injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Usher suffered a neck injury during rehearsals which led him to postpone the start of his ‘Past Present Future Tour’.
The 45-year-old pop star had been due to kick off the tour in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday (14.08.24) but he called off the concert just hours before he was set to take the stage and he has now gone to axe two more dates at the city’s State Farm Arena – explaining doctors have told him he’s not well enough to get back to work yet.
In a statement posted on Instagram, he wrote: “Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest Usher show of all time.
“My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week.”
However, the singer explained he’s hoping to be well enough to kick off the tour in Washington, D.C. on August 20. He added: “The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour in Washington DC on August 20th.
“I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury must be healed so that I can give you the 100 per cent excellence that you expect from an Usher show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon.”
The postponed three shows have been rescheduled for December.
After cancelling the first show of the tour, Usher expressed his disappointment in a post on his Instagram Stories, writing: “You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present, and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100 per cent of me.
“The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best. I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”

Taylor Swift’s ‘mind went blank’ at Wembley show

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift’s “mind went blank” shortly before she stepped on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium on Thursday (15.08.24) .
The pop star returned to the London venue to play a second leg of shows on her ‘The Eras’ tour after previously headlining three concerts there in June and Taylor confessed she felt overwhelmed when she looked out at the crowd from backstage.
After starting the show, she told the audience: “What an absolute honour and what a delight and a thrill it is to say these words to you: London, welcome to ‘The Eras Tour’! I stand here on this stage knowing that I’m about to play the first show of the last stop of the European leg of ‘The Eras Tour’, and the way that you’ve chosen to welcome us, 92,000 of you and screaming the words. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts … It’s crazy to me that it’s [the European leg is] coming to an end.”
Taylor later added she experienced an emotional moment backstage before she kicked off the gig. She explained: “I just have to be honest with you guys now that I’ve calmed down a little bit.
“The first time I saw this crowd when I came out from backstage … my whole mind went blank … [It was a] love system overload …
“I can’t believe that 92,000 people are being this loving and caring and generous to us all at once. It’s just wonderful what you do for us … All of us are going to miss it so much when we don’t get to do it anymore. Feelings and emotions that I didn’t think about before talking about in front of 92,000 people.”
The Wembley show marked the singer’s first time back on stage since the murder of three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport on July 29 and the cancellation of her concerts in Vienna, Austria last week after a terrorist attack was foiled.

Four people arrested in connection with General Hospital star’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Four people have been arrested in connection with ‘General Hospital’ star Johnny Wactor’s death.
The actor – who played Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera from 2020 to 2022 – was fatally shot in May aged 37 during a “robbery gone wrong” after he confronted three men apparently tampering with his vehicle, and his death was ruled as a homicide.
The Los Angeles Police Department took Robert Barceleau, 18, Leonel Gutierrez, 18, and Sergio Estrada, 18, took into custody, and 22-year-old Frank Olano was booked on a warrant for accessory.
In documents obtained by TMZ, it was noted that “no other significant factors” contributed to his death, and the death certificate revealed that his remains were cremated and transferred to his mother Scarlett in South Carolina.
After his death, Jonny’s family revealed he saved his co-worker’s life when he was shot and killed.
His brother Grant told the MailOnline: “We’re Southern, born and raised, and we would never let a female walk to their car by herself. We’re Southern, born and raised, and we would never let a female walk to their car by herself.
“He came across them and he thought his truck was being towed. So he said something to the guys, like, ‘Hey, are you towing?’. Once he turned around, he saw what was happening and he put his coworker behind him. That’s when they shot him.”
Scarlett initially explained to TMZ that Johnny was with a colleague when they saw three men “messing with Johnny’s car” and that the suspects “allegedly tried to steal a catalytic converter”.
She noted that Johnny “did not try to stop” the alleged suspects in their actions, and that even though paramedics rushed to the scene shortly after the shooting, he was pronounced dead in hospital.
Upon the tragic news, the cast and crew released a touching statement: “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Christina Aguilera ‘shamed over her weight’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera was shamed over her weight by music industry executives when her body started to change as she grew up.
The singer was 18 years old when she shot to fame back in 1999 with the release of her debut single ‘Genie in a Bottle’ and she’s now looked back on her early years in the spotlight and revealed she was given a tough time over body image issues.
She told Glamour magazine: “When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s. I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’ Then I had industry people [saying]: ‘They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager’.”
Christina went on to insist she no longer cares about other people’s opinions of her, but she worries about issues her children – Max, 16, and Summer, nine, – will have to face in their lifetimes.
She added: “Your kids trigger things in you that you don’t want them to go through. And it’s almost like you’re reliving this whole thing again …
“I’ve seen so much so young. You just want the best for your kids …
“I love my son and my daughter so much, and you do want to shield and protect them from the world … But they have to learn their own lessons.”
She added of her kids: “They’re going to make their own choices and mistakes that define how they want to be. It’s such a layered, interesting thing to be a parent and watch these people, these humans, grow up.”
Christina’s son Max is from her marriage to Jordan Bratman – who she was married to between 2005 and 2011 – and she is mum to Summer with her current partner Matthew Rutler.

Julianne Hough reveals she was sexually abused aged 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Julianne Hough has revealed she was sexually abused aged just four.
The 36-year-old actress has spoken for the first time about the abuse she allegedly faced when she was a minor and revealed “other things happened” to her when she was 15.
She shared on ‘The Jamie Kern Lima Show’: “My first experience was when I was about four years old.
“By a neighbour in in our cul-de-sac. I’ve actually never said that out loud to anybody in an interview before.”
The ‘Rock of Ages’ star grew up in a strict Mormon household and says her parents felt “helpless”.
She continued: “That was a very, very confusing time because obviously growing up in the Mormon culture, everything needs to be perfect. Everybody needs to put on the shiny, ‘We’ve-got-our-stuff-together.’ And there was not a lot of repercussion for what had happened. So that was a very challenging thing to come to terms with, that nobody did anything.”
It wasn’t until more recently that her parents have been able to talk to her about what happened.
She said: “Now that we’ve had these conversations, they’ve said those things.
At the time, of course, you’re like, ‘Do more.’”
In fact, it was when she divorced Brooks Laich a few years ago that she was able to repair her relationship with her parents.
She shared: “They showed up for me as my parents and I needed that.
“I reclaimed my parental relationship with them, and I got to be the kid and they got to take care of me. That was the most healing time for us.”
The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ co-host felt ready to open up to her parents during the “healing” period after years of feeling guarded.
She went on: “I was in a vulnerable place of like, ‘I don’t have anything to protect myself, I am completely raw, so maybe I can hear you more now, and even though I didn’t think that you were understanding at the time, maybe you are, and I can actually receive it now because my guard is down and my heart is open.’ And so that’s what when we really went through more of our healing and communication as adults.”
The ordeal left Julianne feeling extremely vulnerable and like other people had control over her.
She explained: “I think being so young, and those being your first experiences—whether it be physical, mental, sexual—those abuses of power to someone who is vulnerable to it, it immediately sets a precedent of, ‘Other people have the power.’”
But she has since been able to regain her “voice”.
She said: “As you build layers, you get further and further away from your authentic truth and yourself. And so that’s been the delayering of just really trying to understand like, ‘What is my voice?’”
Julianne is “so grateful” for the strength she has found in survival.
She said: “There’s so many people that do what they need to do to survive.
“And we should be so grateful for that part and that version of us and know that as an adult, like, ‘I see you now and you’re not alone. I’m here. And I’m actually going to be there in that, that past version of yourself. And we’re going to go back to that moment and you’re going to be protected.’
“That’s the lesson that I’ve learned in the last few years, which is with vulnerability comes strength.”

The Duke of Sussex is visiting the country with his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and during the first day of their tour, the royal couple visited a school in the capital Bogota and Harry gave a speech about issues including the rise of AI and the dissemination of dangers untruths on social media.
He told the audience: “What happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets. People are acting on information that isn’t true.
“It comes down to all of us to be able to spot the true from the fake. In an ideal world, those with positions of influence would take more responsibility. We are no longer debating facts.
“For as long as people are allowed to spread lies, abuse, harass, then social cohesion as we know it has completely broken down.”
Harry added that “education and awareness” is key to solving the problems online.
Harry and Meghan visited the school alongside Colombia’s Vice President Francia Marquez and they took part in an Insight Session discussing social media with students.
While Harry gave his opinion on the matter, some of the students were also encouraged to discuss their own experiences of social media and share their favourite and least favourite parts of the online world.

In a heartbreaking caption to an Instagram video update, she wrote: “Cancer Update: I have 34.8 months to live if I don’t get hit by a meteor, shot by a MAGA hater, get Covid again or WWIII breaks out.”
In the ‘Is The Cancer Back?’ series, she said surgeons “cannot operate and cut out the marble in my chest that is laying on my windpipe, and eventually would suffocate me to death.”
The pill contains Ribociclib, which they hope will “shrink” the tumour.
Victoria’s bucket list includes meeting her grandchildren.
She said: “I’d like to see my grandson born — his name is Jimmy — in October and get to know him a little. And I would like to see my daughter Aubrey have a baby.”
The ‘Sabrina , the Teenage Witch’ actress was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2016.

Teri Hatcher didn’t enjoy Bond girl role due to pregnancy

OHMYGOSSIP — Teri Hatcher didn’t get to fully enjoy being a Bond girl because she was pregnant while making ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’.
The 59-year-old actress starred opposite Pierce Brosnan in the 1997 movie, but Teri has admitted she was more focused on her personal life during the two-week shoot because she was expecting her first child with actor Jon Tenney and “being a mother” was at the “forefront” of her mind.
She told the Guardian newspaper: “I do step back with a lot of gratitude. ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ was a very small role, perfect as I was secretly nine weeks pregnant. It was only two weeks, a couple of scenes, then I’d be too pregnant to keep working.
“But the pregnancy got leaked and it was out of my control. I don’t think you’d get away with that anymore. Women’s rights are much stronger. You’re allowed to have privacy.”
She added of her time on the film: “Women are sensitive before their first trimester because you’re still wondering if it’s all going work out. I wanted to be in the movie, but being a mother was at the forefront of my mind, whereas the forefront of somebody else’s mind might have been: ‘Oh, I’m in this James Bond movie. That’s so cool’.”
Teri’s daughter Emerson was born in 1997, but her marriage to her daughter’s father didn’t last and they divorced in 2003.
The actress previously opened up about raising Emerson as co-parents after the split – insisting the former couple did all they could to keep the youngster’s life stable.
She told the Irish Examiner: “I never wanted Emerson to have parents in different households, and I’ll always feel guilty forever that she has to go back and forth. But her dad and I work really hard to make it as easy as possible for her, and I genuinely think she’s OK.”

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex sends message to mean trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan, Duchess of Sussex spoke about safeguarding children from trolling during a talk in Columbia.
The 43-year-old former actress was a guest speaker at the Responsible Digital Future forum in Bogota on Thursday night (15.08.24), amid her unofficial tour with husband Prince Harry, and spoke of adults responsibility to be good role models for their children when it comes to how they behave online.
She began: “Maybe your grandmother used to say it to you, ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.'”
Meghan continued: “The digital age has almost created a culture where if you don’t have anything cruel to say, don’t say anything at all. And that is fundamentally changing how we move through the world, how we connect with each other, and I think, as we continue with this work, we continue learning and investing and grant giving to young adults, we can be changemakers in this space.
“A lot of it is how we as adults role model that behaviour both offline, and certainly how we role model online. As parents we have that responsibility, as global citizens we have that responsibility, but as digital citizens we have that responsibility to model how we want our children to be raised, and the world which we want them to be raised in.
“It now includes the digital world. It’s not going away, so it’s how we can use what we know and continue to push the envelope to keep all of us safer, specifically our children.”
Elsewhere, Harry warned of the dangers of false information spreading online during a visit to a school during the first day of their tour.
The 39-year-old royal gave a speech about issues including the rise of AI and the dissemination of dangerous untruths on social media.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Richie doesn’t want to forget anything about the precious moments she shares with her baby girl.
The 25-year-old model – who is the daughter of singer Lionel Richie and his ex-wife Diane Alexander – and her husband Elliot Grainge, 30, welcomed a daughter named Eloise Samantha in May, and the new mom is savouring up all the memories.
She told The Wall Street Journal: “It’s really good for me mentally to journal. And I actually found out I’m a scrapbook girl.
“I wrote everything down in a scrapbook for Eloise, just things I didn’t want to forget.”
On making the most of the time she has with the little one, she said: “I wake up around 6am and go see my daughter.
“I have a little morning routine with her: We wake up, she eats, we have a bit of playtime before her first nap at 8am.”
Eloise
Sofia is learning to be “more flexible” in her schedule but it’s not always easy.
She explained: “The first four weeks, I was with her 24 hours a day.
“Now she’s gotten to an age where I have her on a sleep schedule, so she’s taking a lot of 90-minute naps throughout the day. My life and everything that I need to get done have to happen within those 90 minutes.”
She added: “I’m a very scheduled, organised person. I’m very type A, clean and organised.
