Mariah Carey’s sister hoped for deathbed reconciliation

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey’s late sister Alison hoped for a deathbed reconciliation after years of estrangement.
The 55-year-old pop superstar was left devastated after Alison, 63, and her mother Patricia, 87, passed away on the same day over the weekend (24-25.08.24) but Mariah had not spoken to her sibling in a long time due to issues over her drug problems and now it’s been revealed Alison had been hoping to make up while she was being cared for in a hospice at the end of her life.
Alison’s friend and healthcare provider David Baker, told DailyMail.com: “I know it was her dying wish if she could’ve at least had a conversation with Mariah … ”
Mariah previously opened up about her troubled relationship with Alison in her 2020 memoir ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’, claiming she had long struggled with drug addiction and the singer decided to cut contact with her “ex-sister”.
Baker added of the book: “It stung because Mariah called Alison her ex-sister. [Alison] used to babysit and take care of Mariah. When that came out, she couldn’t believe that Mariah had done that because she already was not talking to her, but then she kicks Alison in the teeth while she was already down.”
After the double tragedy, Mariah shared her sorrow in a statement which read: “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.
“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
In her book, Mariah revealed she had decided to cut ties with both her sister Alison and her brother Morgan Carey, 64, following extensive therapy.
She wrote: “For my sanity and peace of mind, my therapist encouraged me to literally rename and reframe my family … Morgan my ex-brother and Alison my ex-sister…
“I had to stop expecting them to one day miraculously become the … big brother and big sister I fantasised about.
“I had to stop making myself available to be hurt by them. It has been helpful. I have no doubt it is emotionally and physically safer for me not to have any contact with my ex-brother and ex-sister.”

Channing Tatum can’t go through airport security without this movie line being shouted at him

OHMYGOSSIP — Channing Tatum has people quote his famous ’21 Jump Street’ line every time he’s at the airport.
The 44-year-old actor says ‘My name is Jeff’ isn’t “even that funny” but it doesn’t stop fans shouting it at him whenever he’s catching a flight.
Channing – who starred alongside Jonah Hill as undercover police officers Jenko and Schmidt in the flick – told CinemaBlend: “It’s weird what happens in pop culture like that, you know? Same with ‘My name is Jeff.’ It’s such a small moment in the movie.
“I remember we did a table read and it wasn’t even that funny at the table read. It was like whatever. And all of a sudden, man.”
He continued: “I’ve never went through TSA without somebody saying, ‘My name is Jeff.’
“Almost every single time I go through TSA.”
Channing recently admitted he would “love” to make ’23 Jump Street’ with Jonah.
The duo starred together in ’21 Jump Street’ in 2012 and reunited for its sequel ’22 Jump Street’ two years later, with a third movie initially put into development a decade ago with plans for a ‘Men In Black’ crossover with James Bobin directing from Rodney Rothman’s script, but it never came to fruition.
He told ComicBook.com: “There is a project that was written and it’s still the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.”
However, the ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ actor insisted the project never got off the ground due to decisions made higher up the Hollywood food chain.
He said: “A lot of bureaucracy, kind of above the line stuff. It’s really hard to get it made and we’ve been trying to get it done.”
The ‘Magic Mike’ star would still “love” to reunite with Jonah on the long-awaited sequel, and his co-star is also keen on the project.
He added: “You know what, I’m going to put some good juju out there and I’m going to say I would love to see ’23 Jump Street’.
“I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah I know wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.”

Hozier’s hungover encounter with Cillian Murphy inspired Too Sweet lyric

OHMYGOSSIP — Hozier’s awkward encounter with Cillian Murphy inspired part of his hit ‘Too Sweet’.
The ‘Take Me To Church’ hitmaker has recalled being severely hungover and injured after a wild night out when the ‘Oppenheimer’ star introduced himself on a plane.
He told the audience at his recent concert at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in footage shared on TikTok: “I stand up quickly, and I am quite tall. It’s been said to me, ‘If I fall down, I would be halfway home’… I was walking at full pace and I just went, ‘Boom!’ My head hit the window at such force.”
It didn’t help matters that the 34-year-old singer was starstruck by his fellow Irishman.
He recalled: “I’m like rattled. You know, that type of hangover where you’re shaking.
“And then I look over to the left of me on this plane and I see a famous Irish actor. I’m also subject to celebrity shock where you see somebody you’ve seen on screen a thousand times and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, that’s a famous person’. And when I see Cillian Murphy is to my left…”
He continued: “I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that’s wet’. So I’m on the plane looking at my fingers, like I’m bleeding a little bit. And I turn to my left and Cillian Murphy’s hunkered by my seat and is like, ‘How’s it going?’ I’m trying to play it cool. He was so sweet and so kind.”
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ star, 48, still has no idea that he helped him pen a line in the tune.
Sharing the lyric that was inspired by their meeting, he added: “It’s the line, ‘I aim low, I aim true and the ground’s where I go‘. I’ve never told Cillian Murphy that, I’ve never met him since.
“I didn’t have the guts to tell him at the time the shape that I was in.”

Heather Graham is estranged from her parents

OHMYGOSSIP — Heather Graham has been estranged from her parents for almost 30 years.
The ‘Boogie Nights’ star, 54, has opened up about her difficult childhood in a new interview revealing she was unhappy at home with her schoolteacher mum and FBI agent dad, and she moved out of the family home at the age of 18 after landing her first movie role – and she’s now admitted she hasn’t spoken to either of them since she was 25.
Heather told the Wall Street Journal: “I stopped talking to my parents when I was 25, and I’m estranged from them now. ”
She went on to explain her difficult teenage years living at home, saying: “Home and school weren’t happy places growing up … My father, James, was an F.B.I. agent.
“He regularly told me that the entertainment industry was evil and that Hollywood would claim my soul if I became an actress and appeared in anything with sexual content.
“My mother, Joan, was an elementary school teacher … But my parents were part of a generation that didn’t believe in therapy or discussing personal things, so I never felt I could talk to them.
“To her credit, my mother supported my creative streak and acting ambition. It was a mixed message, though, since my father was strongly against them and my mother didn’t do much to protect me from him.”
Heather was 17 years old when she landed her first big role in ‘License to Drive’ and she said living at home became “more difficult” after the movie came out, so she resolved to become a film star and moved into a shared apartment in West Hollywood and her career eventually took off.
Heather now owns two homes and relies on a close circle of friends for support. She said: “My friends are proud of me, and I’m proud of myself. I have really good friends.”

Sigourney Weaver was told she ‘had no talent’ at drama school

OHMYGOSSIP — Sigourney Weaver was told she “had no talent” when she was studying acting at Yale University.
The ‘Alien’ star studied at the previously Yale School of Drama but she failed to win over her teachers and Sigourney now admits she feels “grateful” to have been dismissed as talentless because it motivated her to become a success in Hollywood.
She told Deadline.com: “I was initially told that I had no talent when I studied drama at Yale, which I’m grateful for, because it meant I’ve charged into all these different areas.”
Sigourney is now set to receive the Venice Film Festival’s Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement – making her only the third American actress to pick up the award after Jane Fonda and Jamie Lee Curtis – and she feels like it has validated her varied career choices.
She added: “I want to say how grateful I am to the festival for this wonderful award because for me it represents an embrace of actors who aren’t willing to be put in a box. It’s a recognition of being able to adventure all over the place in the odd way I have done in my career …
“The other reason I’m so grateful for this award is because of what it says about actors, who in many ways are the engines of these stories. The recognition of what actors can bring to the table has changed over the years.
“Over the course of my career, it has been wonderful to see the influx of women into so many departments, which has brought a lot of oxygen into the business. And certainly, actors are listened to more today; we’re not only considered as commodities, and I think that’s very exciting.”
Sigourney will accept the prize during the opening night of the film festival in Italy on Wednesday (28.08.24).

The parents wrote alongside a snap of the little one: “She’s here.
“Joan Almond Jenner. Named after Cayley’s beloved grandma (Joanie).
“Born at home in a flash, just the most amazing experience for mama and baby girl. A beautiful, gentle birth. 9 lbs 2 oz, 21 1/2 inches long. Perfect little peanut, we couldn’t be more in love. And the kids are absolutely thrilled to have a baby sister. Welcome to our world, sweet baby love.”

And such a beautiful tribute to the wonderful matriarch Joan Almond! My family means absolutely everything to me! Congratulations on bringing more love into this world. I love y’all so much.”
Following his parents’ split and Caitlyn’s marriage to Kris Jenner in 1991, Brandon and Brody gained stepsiblings Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob Kardashian.
Kris and Caitlyn also had daughters Kylie and Kendall Jenner together and Caitlyn has children Cassandra Marino and Burt Jenner with first wife Chrystie Scott, so Brandon has plenty of experience when dealing with a blended family.

Winona Ryder ‘missed flights’ repeating Beetlejuice line for airport security

OHMYGOSSIP — Winona Ryder has “missed flights” because airport security wanted her to repeat her famous line from ‘Beetlejuice’.
The 52-year-old actress played death-obsessed teen Lydia Deetz in the 1988 flick and has reprised the role for the sequel ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, and she has revealed she used to get held up at TSA because the staff always asked her to say, “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice”.
In a TikTok video Interview alongside her co-stars Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice) and Jenna Ortega (Astrid Deetz), she told Canada’s etalk: “I have missed flights because the TSA people wouldn’t let me through unless I said it three times.”
She added: “I would do it and they’d be like, ‘Do it again!’
“Like, it became a thing and I’m like, ‘Please! I’m late!’”
Winona recently admitted it was “hard to imagine” Lydia as an adult.
In the new flick, her character is a mother, and she initially struggled to see Lydia move beyond her gothic phase to become a parent.
She told Slash Film: “I think certainly, I never pictured Lydia either having children or in any type of relationship.
“I just always thought she was just probably in her own world as she got older. Just sort of in the attic and happy, but alone.”
The ‘Stranger Things’ actress added that as soon as she started working with Jenna and Justin Theroux – who play Lydia’s daughter Astrid’s boyfriend – on the project, she was able to get a better grasp of this new version of the character.
She explained: “I think once we got there and once Jenna and I bonded and once Justin came on board … I mean, I think everyone who’s as old as I am now, we’ve all been in those things where you’re just like, ‘What was I thinking, in terms of the relationship I have?’
“But I don’t know with young Lydia, I don’t think she would ever have expected to be in front of a camera.”

Christina Aguilera is ‘frustrated’ by fam: ‘That’s never been the goal of my career…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera is “frustrated” by fame.
The 43-year-old pop star has been known around the world since she was in her late teens but almost three decades into her music career has insisted that fame has “never been the goal” and that she only wants to share “love and creativity” with her work.
She told Paper magazine: “I have a really good sense of humor about myself. At the end of the day, I don’t take myself and fame so seriously. I’m in it for the love and the creativity, and how I can connect and hopefully spread messages. But as far as the fame itself, it’s never been the goal. That’s the most frustrating part for me: having to over give myself when I’m such a private person, especially with this age of social media. Everybody wants something of you.
The ‘Beautiful’ songstress – who appeared on ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’ in the early 1990s alongside Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake before launching a pop career with ‘Genie in a Bottle’ in 1999 – became aware early on in showbusiness that she could never truly “strive for complete perfection” and doesn’t want to come across as too polished anyway.
Christina – who has Max,16, with ex-husband Jordan Bratman, and Summer, 10 with her fiance Matt Ruttler – added: “But having such a history in the business, I learned very early on that it’s impossible to strive for complete perfection and to please every single person in every way. I am a perfectionist, but there’s an element of being raw that I love with live performing.
“Being too strategic loses the element of living in the moment as an artist. I’m a weird juxtaposition of things, but now more than ever I get comfortable with the idea of letting go. And you have to be an example to your kids, too. You can’t fall apart, s***gonna happen, things are gonna get messy. So I try to keep a positive headspace for them.”

Ray Liotta’s daughter Karsen reflects on the legacy of her late dad

OHMYGOSSIP — Karsen Liotta has remembered her dad Ray as a “truly amazing person” more than two years after his death.
The ‘Goodfellas’ star passed away in May 2022 at the age of 67 as a result of heart failure and now his daughter Karsen, 25, – who he had with ex-wife Michelle Grace – has reflected on his legacy at the opening of ‘1992’, which will serve as his final on-screen appearance.
She told Us Weekly: “It’s a weird thing to be representing somebody that’s not here, but I feel honored, and I’m glad to be here on behalf of him and his legacy in general. He was amazing, truly. This sounds obviously biased. He was truly an amazing person, friend, father, the most ride-or-die, trustworthy, honest, loyal, kind, sweet-hearted person, and definitely the funniest person you’ll ever meet.”
Ray stars alongside Tyrese Gibson and Scott Eastwood in the new thriller that follows a man trying to rebuild his life and his relationship with his son amid the turbulent Los Angeles riots in 1992, and the Hollywood star finished filming his scenes just months before his death.
Karsen has been carving out her own acting career over the course of the last decade having appeared in series like ‘Shades of Blue’ and ‘Blackbirds’ but is keen to follow in her father’s footsteps with a role in a mafia film.
She said: “That’s got to be in my blood somewhere!”
The actor was honoured with a posthumous star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles in February. T
he ceremony was attended by Liotta’s fiance Jacy Nittolo alongside Karsen, who accepted the award on her dad’s behalf and expressed her pride in all his achievements.
She said: “I’m so touched to be accepting this honour on behalf of my dad. I couldn’t be more proud of him. He was a one-of-a-kind actor, and the best friend, brother and father anyone could ask for. I lucked out with you.
“If you have a Ray in your life, you’re lucky. Thank you for your work, and the imprint you left on me and all of those who love you. “Everyone deserves a Ray in their life.”

She told US TV show Extra: “I don’t really feel like what I am going through. I try to not feel that way, so I try my best.
“My kids. Honestly, my girls. As cliché as that sounds, it’s really not. They’re everything to me. I can’t imagine the three of us not being a threesome, a trio. “They make me laugh every day. They keep me on my toes. They’re so honest and they are so encouraging and they are my rocks.”
The former ‘Baywatch’ star admitted waiting to find out the next stages of her treatment has been the “hardest” part of her journey so far.
She told People magazine: “I am good. I am in sort of a grey area and I finished my treatment, waiting for more imaging and hopefully maybe surgery.
“And there’s a lot of waiting in this and it’s sort of something I didn’t really realise and nobody really talks about.
“But the grey area is the hardest because you don’t know what’s happening and you’re just, when I’m doing treatment, I felt like I was doing something productive.
“So it felt positive and I was like, okay, I’m doing something positive. And now that it’s just like nothing, it’s like, well wait a minute. We got to get this out. So it’s, it’s just frustrating.”
