OHMYGOSSIP — Abbie Quinnen doubts she will ever “fully recover” from her burns accident last year.
The 24-year-old dancer – who is dating former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star AJ Pritchard – suffered horrific burns in an accident in January 2021 when a stunt intended for social media went badly wrong, and the star has been “really upset” leading up to the one-year anniversary this week.
She wrote on Instagram: “A year ago today I survived the most horrific accident I could of possibly imagined! I would love to say I am fully recovered but unfortunately I’m not and probably never will be as I know I’m going to have life long scars!! I have been really upset the past few days & felt really strange as I knew this day was coming! (sic)”
Abbie admitted she is yet to finish having treatments, but she is “getting there” as she accepts and feels “proud” of her scars.
She added: “I’ve just constantly been thinking why did this happen & that I’m so young! I’m 24 years old and I have to live like this for the rest of my life with these burn scars on my body! But i know I haven’t finished my treatments yet, there are other options and most importantly scars don’t define you! my scars are something I am proud of & should be more proud of as they show me everyday how strong I am! It has taken me a long time to accept that but I think I am getting there! I’m ready for this New Year & I am ready to raise as much money as possible for burns patients like myself (sic)”
AJ commented: “You are so Strong .. This year is going to be a Great year. Xxx … & you will raise lots of money running the @londonlandmarkshalf (sic)”
In June, Abbie admitted she was “always panicking” about what to wear since she suffered third-degree burns earlier this year.
The star spoke about having to wear a compression vest 23 hours a day and keep her scars out of the sun following the accident.
She wrote: “definitely am finding it hard to find what to wear at the moment as I have to wear a compression vest 23 hours a day under my clothes and keep my scars out of the sun.
“I’m always panicking about what I’m going to wear before I leave the house so it’s always so lovely to get so many compliments from you all about what I’m wearing! Thank you (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dawn French says “cheap” reality shows are killing comedy programmes.
The ‘French & Saunders’ icon has questioned why any TV channels would want to splash out on new comedy shows when they can make series such as ‘Love Island’.
She said: “We live in the world of reality TV where it’s so cheap that even if you take everyone to ‘Love Island’, the people are costing you nothing.
“You’ve got hours and hours of telly and all you’re really having to pay for is the technicians.
“A couple of houses and your cameras and your crew. Why would you spend money on comedy?”
As a result, the ‘Vicar of Dibley’ star, 64 – who won a BAFTA for her titular portrayal of Geraldine Granger in the show – doesn’t believe her classic sketch show ‘French and Saunders’, in which she starred opposite Jennifer Saunders, would be made nowadays.
She is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column as saying: “We’d never be able to make ‘French and Saunders’ in this day and age.
“We would go to them and say we want to do some characters, we need you to build a dentist office, prosthetics that cost £3k each and I don’t know quite what we’re gonna do when we’re in the prosthetics.”
French and Saunders briefly moved onto a series called ‘Jam and Jerusalem’, which was axed from the BBC after three series.
Speaking about the decision to end the show, Jennifer said at the time: “They are not making the kind of comedy we used to do – they want populist programmes. There isn’t a budget to try more ambitious things.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Spencer Matthews has hinted he will to return to TV, but “not as you’ve seen [him] before”.
The 33-year-old entrepreneur shot to fame when he appeared on reality show ‘Made In Chelsea’ back in 2011 and has since married model Vogue Williams, but he has now suggested a return to the small screen could be on the cards.
When asked about the possibility of a television comeback, he said: “Perhaps back on the screen, perhaps not as you’ve seen me before!”
However, the businessman – who has three-year-old Theodore, and Gigi, 15 months, with Vogue, and is expecting a third child with her – then went on to say while he wants to continuing “evolving” in his career he does not want to dismiss his reality TV past, because he “adores” working alongside his wife.
Speaking on GB News, he added: “I’m a big believer about evolving and growing. That’s not to damn any of the work I’ve done in the past, I absolutely adore working with my wife.
“We have the [‘Spencer& Vogue’] podcast together. Who knows what the future holds?”
Spencer – who was dialling into the news channel whilst on holiday in the Maldives – admitted he is mainly focused on family as well as his low-alcohol drinks company, which he plans to launch across the pond.
He added: “Currently, I am very focussed on CleanCo and expanding into America and of course my family.
“We’re currently away just for a few days together. We’re expecting our third child in April.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘After Life’ has been praised by Reverend Richard Coles after he became a widower himself.
The Netflix comedy – which stars ‘Office’ creator Ricky Gervais as widow Tony Johnson, who struggles to cope following the death of his wife – has been praised as “empathetic” by 1980s pop star-turned-vicar Richard after he lost his partner David in 2019.
He wrote on Twitter: “Watching #AfterLife, love it, pre and post my own widowhood. Empathetic, insightful, funny in a way I would have thought only someone who had experienced it could be. (sic)”
The 59-year-old reverend – who was known for releasing a dance version of ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ in 1986 as part of pop duo The Communards, and took part in 2017’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – met David in 2007 after a sermon and they entered a civil partnership in 2010.
The couple lived together in their vicarage in the small town of Finedon in Northamptonshire, with David passing away after a long illness just over two years ago.
Richard previously said: “Of course it has its challenges and sacrifices … We live in good standing with the teaching of the Church, but I wouldn’t wish that to imply that I saw that as a good and noble thing, because I don’t, but it is currently where we are.”
His praise for ‘After Life’ comes after Ricky – who wrote the award-winning show – admitted he was “gutted” that the comedy was coming to an end after three seasons.
He said: “I said to Netflix, ‘I’ll do one if the second series goes down a storm’, and I kept to that.
“I fell in love with this. And, secretly, for the first time ever, I did want to do a third, and I’m gutted that I’m not doing a fourth, really. But it’s the right decision.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Classic shows ‘Fawlty Towers’ and ‘The Crystal Maze’ will be celebrated in the new ‘Great British Menu’ series.
The BBC cookery show sees four chefs representing a nation or region compete against each other each week to cook a four-course meal, and the theme for series 17, which will commence on February 1st on BBC Two, will celebrate 100 Years of Great British Broadcasting after the BBC took to the airwaves with a radio broadcast in 1922.
Professional chefs will cook up nostalgic dishes to pay homage to entertainment programmes like ‘dinnerladies’, ‘Blackadder’ and ‘Monty Python’ as well as current entertainment like ‘EastEnders’.
Andi Oliver will reprise her role as host, and Ed Gamble, Nisha Katona and Tom Kerridge will feature on a new-look judging panel.
Andi said: “I feel really proud to be able to support our chefs and help guide them through the competition.
“Being able to be there to help them cope with how challenging the competition can be, and watch them develop their dishes – and their mental and culinary agility – is a sight to behold. It’s something extraordinary to see.”
Tom added: “I’ve been involved with the show in some respect now for 12/13 years and I know how much it means, not just to the chefs that compete, but also the British food scene in general. It has been hugely influential, in terms of letting everybody know how great chefs and cooking is up and down the country, in all the nations and regions.”
Ed – who hosts popular podcast ‘Off Menu’ – joked he now knows more than chefs Tom and Nisha thanks to his podcast.
He quipped: “Doing my food podcast for so long means that I am very qualified for this job and I know way more than Tom and Nisha who both kept complaining that nobody served chicken nuggets. (They might have edited that out).
“I can’t wait for people to see what the chefs have made this series – the brief is incredible and they really rose to the challenge. And I rose to my difficult challenge of stuffing my greedy face.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Giovanni Pernice is bulking up in the gym in a bid to look like John Whaite.
The Italian professional dancer – who took home the Glitterball Trophy trophy with dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis, beating off competition from runners-up John and his pro partner Johannes Radebe – has been working out ahead of the upcoming ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ tour, and admitted he is keen to resemble the ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner.
Giovanni, 31, took to his Instagram Stories to share a video of himself alongside John, 32, training inside the gym.
He said: “So just to let you know, by the end of the tour, I’m going to look like this guy.”
John responded: “Yeah, you are.”
Giovanni added: “He’s training me. I mean, today’s the first day but it’s got some muscle hasn’t it. The pirate.”
‘Strictly’ winners Rose and Giovanni are over the moon to be working together again.
Rose, who was facing away from Giovanni as he hugged her, told the camera: “You’re not allowed to see my costume, that’s why I’m hiding right behind him. So, basically, we’re doing a dress run and it’s going well.”
Giovanni replied: “So the dress run is going very well. It’s nice to dance with you again.”
The 27-year-old actress said: “It’s lovely to dance again, it’s bringing happy memories.”
Followers were also happy to catch a quick glimpse of US-based former judge Bruno Tonioli, 66, who had to miss last year’s ‘Strictly’ series due to the COVID pandemic restrictions.
He was replaced by ballroom dancer Anton Du Beke, 55.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Madeley has paid tribute to “strong” and “honest” Sean Rice, after he died aged 49.
The ‘Dancing on Ice’ professional figure – who skater appeared on the ITV show from 2011 to 2012 – passed away on January 14, and Chloe, who took part in the programme in 2011, admitted he did things on the ice that made her “jaw drop”.
She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “My heart goes out to the skating world and the DOI family for the loss of Sean Rice. He was a strong, honest, kind and incredibly funny man who did things on the ice that made my jaw drop.”
Chloe also sent her well wishes to Sean’s wife and ‘Dancing on Ice’ pro skater Jodeyne Higgins.
She added: “Sean and Jodeyne were the only couple I went to watch rehearse on tour, because every lift was something spectacular. My thoughts are with Sean’s wife Jodeyne and their daughter Signey.”
Skier Chemmy Alcott – who partnered Sean in 2012 – admitted his “amazing energy” and “healing hands” will be missed.
She wrote on Twitter: “Have just heard the tragic news that Sean Rice, my partner from DOI has passed away. The world will miss your amazing energy and you healing hands. All my love to J and S. x (sic)”
Pro skater Frankie Seaman revealed earlier this week that Sean had passed away.
She tweeted: “Pro skaters are heartbroken today, we lost a true larger than life great – an epic skater, a husband, father, and my friend of 20 years.
“Sean Rice, 20/07/72 – 14/01/22 gone too soon, but we will Love You For A Thousand Years.
“All of our thoughts are with Signey and Jodeyne. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason wants one more crack at playing Del Boy Trotter.
The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ legend – who last starred as the cheeky chappy wheeler-dealer in 2003 Christmas special episode ‘Sleepless in Peckham’ – has called for a screenwriter to pen a new script so he can reprise his role as the iconic TV character.
He said: “I’ve always loved Del Boy, who is such a wonderful loser.
“I would love to revisit him, I need someone to write me a script.”
David also believes it is “very important” people don’t forget about the show because so many can relate to the “ups and downs” the family go through.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he added: “As a show it’s very important we don’t forget about it, it has a huge following, it fills in that need for an awful lot of people.
“It’s funny, amusing and an identity for most people who watch it, who are working class and come from where I come from, and identify with the idiots who are the Trotters.
“They’re just like the rest of us, a family who have ups and downs.”
In February last year, ‘Only Fools’ star John Challis – who played car dealer Boycie in the show – revealed creator John Sullivan planned to make another episode that would have seen Del Boy celebrate his retirement in the Nag’s Head, but the writer died before he could pen the ep.
John – who died in September aged 79 – said: “The 30th anniversary was coming up and John was in the process of getting together a Christmas special or something.
“It was going to be Del Boy’s 65th birthday, he was going to retire and there was going to be a bit of a get-together in the Nag’s Head. But unfortunately he (John) got ill and didn’t come out of it.”
The first ‘Only Fools’ episode, ‘Big Brother’, aired in September 1981, and the show went on to run for seven series and numerous specials until the final episode in 2003.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blankety Blank’ is returning for a second series.
The BBC One game show – which first debuted in 1979 with the legendary broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan – will be back on our screens for a 10-episode run, including a Christmas special, with Bradley Walsh fronting the programme once again.
Bradley said: “I absolutely love recording this show. We have some of the funniest comedians and some of Britain’s most well-known faces join us on the panel, and they’re incredible, but for me, it’s the players that steal the show. I’m looking forward to getting back into the studio and having a blast filming.”
Last year’s revamp featured a star-studded list of contestants, including Tess Daly, Judi Love, Jimmy Carr, Adjoa Andoh and Judy Murray, and a whole new array of to-be-confirmed celebs are to feature on the next series, which will feature the usual prize of the ‘Blankety Blank’ chequebook and pen.
BBC Director of Entertainment Commissioning Kate Phillips described ‘The Chase’ presenter as the “perfect” pick for the ‘Blankety Blank’ and she praised his ability to deal with “unpredictable celebrities”.
She said: “It’s been so brilliant having ‘Blankety Blank’ back on the Beeb. And Bradley really is the perfect host for this very funny family show, dealing with unpredictable celebrities, contestants, and prizes!”
Charlie Irwin, Director of Programmes at Thames, a division of Fremantle, said: “It’s astonishing to think that ‘Blankety Blank’ has been a part of our lives for 43 years and we’re honoured to be able to continue entertaining audiences – particularly those who don’t remember the original series!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Winter has slammed “sly” thieves who broke into her boyfriend Teddy Soares’ car.
The ‘Love Island’ star – who finished third on the ITV2 dating show last summer alongside her partner – revealed her shoes and brand-new camera have been stolen after his motor was broken into, but the couple didn’t realise they had been robbed for a few days.
In a video posted on her Instagram Story, the 26-year-old reality TV star said: “Today has not been the greatest of days.
“Teddy has been saying something has been off for like two days and turns out, transpires, somebody has broken into his car and taken my camera and my shoes.”
The TV personality was less than impressed with the robbers, but assured them there was nothing salacious on the stolen camera.
She said: “Great, the camera that I bought last week. I have no words. There are some absolute scum heads out there. Enjoy my camera, hun. Shame there’s not a sex tape on it.”
In another video, Faye added: “Do you know what the worst thing about this is? Is that these people haven’t broken into the car and been like, ‘Haha, really smug I’m a thief and I’m really pleased with myself’ and broken a window, they’ve done it really slyly, got into the car somehow.”
The former lettings agent labelled the experience as an “invasion” as she detailed their sneaky techniques.
She added: “Yesterday, Teddy got into the car and was like, ‘Oh my seat’s really far forward and it’s never like that.’ And then we didn’t think any more of it until today that all our s***’s gone out of the car that we’re like, ‘Well, these thieves are now sly thieves.’
“They’re not even brutally honest, upfront, honest thieves, if there’s even such a thing.
“There’s worse things going on in the world, I know. But it’s just like an invasion isn’t it? It’s just not nice.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Happy Mondays star Bez is already better at ice skating than he “ever imagined being” after just one week on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 57-year-old musician – who revealed earlier this week he has tested positive for COVID-19, but is hoping to be back in time for his next performance – admitted he was keen to take part in the show for the money, but also because he could learn a new skill, and he is pleased with his progress.
He said: “Knowing how difficult it is to get out there and earn money, I jumped at the opportunity.
“I had never skated before so it’s a brand-new skill I’ve been learning. I’m now better than I ever imagined being.
“Even though, I’m still relatively rubbish at it, I can’t believe the things they’ve got me doing on ice.”
Bez has also developed a “really good” friendship with his pro skater partner Angela Egan, who won last year’s series with Capital FM presenter Sonny Jay.
He added to the Metro newspaper: “I’m paired up with last year’s champion, Angela Egan. I said to her, ‘Enjoy the moment because I doubt you are going to be this year’s champion!’
“She’s come along to a Happy Mondays show to see what we’re all about. She’s become a really good friend.”
Bez revealed this week he tested positive for COVID shortly after his ‘Dancing on Ice’ debut on Sunday (16.01.22), but he’s expected to return to the show in time for week three, on January 30.
The star – who wasn’t actually due to perform during week two of the ITV series – said: “I’ve had a positive test.
“I’m gutted because I’m going to be missing training but I’m looking forward to skating on the show again for week three and I’ll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend.”
An ITV spokesperson said: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines.”
Bez made his debut appearance on the show over the weekend, when he took to the ice wearing a helmet after he struggled in training.
But the music star finished bottom of the leaderboard after he was awarded a score of 12.5 out of 40 by the judges.

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanna Fletcher says her husband Tom Fletcher still has his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ six pack.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner insisted the McFly frontman always had “inner sexiness”, but he has maintained the hunky muscles he developed training with his professional partner Amy Dowden for the latest edition of the BBC One Latin and ballroom show.
The 36-year-old author said: “He’s always got inner sexiness, he’s just not aware of it. He’s still in very good shape.”
Giovanna revealed Tom – with who she shares three kids with, Buzz, seven, Buddy, five, and three-year-old Max – ate loads more than usual while on ‘Strictly’.
She is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “It was actually the first time in a long time where Tom literally had a really big appetite. He’s not really been a massive foodie. Whereas during that whole time he was loving his food as well, which is amazing.
“When you do a show like ‘Strictly’, it highlights how that activity affects your brain. You’ve been training every single day, having that adrenaline and all those endorphins flowing. So I think it makes it quite difficult when it suddenly stops. So he’s definitely been keeping it up.”
The 36-year-old musician was the eighth celebrity to be booted off ‘Strictly’ in November 2021.
On his departure from the show, Tom admitted to be “gutted” to be leaving as he had “the best time”, and he praised his 31-year-old pro partner.
Tom said: “I’ve made the best friend in Amy, you’ve been amazing. Thank you so much for teaching me how to dance, I know it was a struggle at times.”
