Faye Winter slams ‘sly’ thieves after boyfriend Teddy Soares’ car is broken into

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Winter has slammed “sly” thieves who broke into her boyfriend Teddy Soares’ car.
The ‘Love Island’ star – who finished third on the ITV2 dating show last summer alongside her partner – revealed her shoes and brand-new camera have been stolen after his motor was broken into, but the couple didn’t realise they had been robbed for a few days.
In a video posted on her Instagram Story, the 26-year-old reality TV star said: “Today has not been the greatest of days.
“Teddy has been saying something has been off for like two days and turns out, transpires, somebody has broken into his car and taken my camera and my shoes.”
The TV personality was less than impressed with the robbers, but assured them there was nothing salacious on the stolen camera.
She said: “Great, the camera that I bought last week. I have no words. There are some absolute scum heads out there. Enjoy my camera, hun. Shame there’s not a sex tape on it.”
In another video, Faye added: “Do you know what the worst thing about this is? Is that these people haven’t broken into the car and been like, ‘Haha, really smug I’m a thief and I’m really pleased with myself’ and broken a window, they’ve done it really slyly, got into the car somehow.”
The former lettings agent labelled the experience as an “invasion” as she detailed their sneaky techniques.
She added: “Yesterday, Teddy got into the car and was like, ‘Oh my seat’s really far forward and it’s never like that.’ And then we didn’t think any more of it until today that all our s***’s gone out of the car that we’re like, ‘Well, these thieves are now sly thieves.’
“They’re not even brutally honest, upfront, honest thieves, if there’s even such a thing.
“There’s worse things going on in the world, I know. But it’s just like an invasion isn’t it? It’s just not nice.”

Happy Mondays’ Bez: I’m better at skating than I ever imagined

OHMYGOSSIP — Happy Mondays star Bez is already better at ice skating than he “ever imagined being” after just one week on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 57-year-old musician – who revealed earlier this week he has tested positive for COVID-19, but is hoping to be back in time for his next performance – admitted he was keen to take part in the show for the money, but also because he could learn a new skill, and he is pleased with his progress.
He said: “Knowing how difficult it is to get out there and earn money, I jumped at the opportunity.
“I had never skated before so it’s a brand-new skill I’ve been learning. I’m now better than I ever imagined being.
“Even though, I’m still relatively rubbish at it, I can’t believe the things they’ve got me doing on ice.”
Bez has also developed a “really good” friendship with his pro skater partner Angela Egan, who won last year’s series with Capital FM presenter Sonny Jay.
He added to the Metro newspaper: “I’m paired up with last year’s champion, Angela Egan. I said to her, ‘Enjoy the moment because I doubt you are going to be this year’s champion!’
“She’s come along to a Happy Mondays show to see what we’re all about. She’s become a really good friend.”
Bez revealed this week he tested positive for COVID shortly after his ‘Dancing on Ice’ debut on Sunday (16.01.22), but he’s expected to return to the show in time for week three, on January 30.
The star – who wasn’t actually due to perform during week two of the ITV series – said: “I’ve had a positive test.
“I’m gutted because I’m going to be missing training but I’m looking forward to skating on the show again for week three and I’ll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend.”
An ITV spokesperson said: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines.”
Bez made his debut appearance on the show over the weekend, when he took to the ice wearing a helmet after he struggled in training.
But the music star finished bottom of the leaderboard after he was awarded a score of 12.5 out of 40 by the judges.

Louis Theroux’s wife tells him to keep glasses for his ‘brand’

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Theroux wants to ditch glasses but wife says it will hurt his “brand”.
The 51-year-old documentary maker has always worn glasses in his TV shows, and although he’s keen to get his eyesight corrected so he can stop relying on lenses on the end of his nose his spouse Nancy doesn’t think it’s a good idea because his fans are used to seeing him in glasses.
He said: “My wife’s worrying about my brand. She’s like, ‘Your whole brand is that you’ve got glasses’. I’m like, ‘I’m not a brand, I’m me.'”
Louis has become exasperated as a glasses wearer during the COVID-19 pandemic because his glasses always steam up when he is wearing his face mask to stop the spread of germs.
He said: “In lockdown, it’s been so annoying with the glasses. I don’t think people who don’t have glasses realise what we’ve gone through with mask wearing — stumbling around a supermarket unable to see anything.”
Louis released his book ‘Theroux The Keyhole: Dispatches From A Grounded Documentary Maker’ about his experience of lockdown back in November.
Louis – who shares three children, Albert, 15, Frederick, 13, and six-year-old-Walter with wife Nancy – kept a detailed diary while in lockdown at his North West London home and turned it into the memoir.
The BAFTA winner will be returning to BBC with a brand new series ‘Forbidden America’ on January 31.
The three-part series will explore the controversial entertainment industry where he will meet different types of people such as far right creators, self-destructive performers and predators. It will also explore topics such as the Me Too movement.
Announcing the project previously, Louis said: “The world has gone through massive changes in the last few years, in particular from the effects of social media. This new series looks at the way those changes have affected people in America who are in different ways involved in dangerous, extreme, or morally questionable lifestyles. Far-right groups that have found new influence through gaming and streaming services. Porn performers who have seen power shift to them as they’ve embraced creator-controlled apps and called out alleged predators in the industry. And in the rap world young men with big dreams caught up in feuds and high-risk behaviour in the click-driven world of social media.”

Daniel Radcliffe to star in Weird Al Yankovic biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Radcliffe is set to play ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic in an upcoming biopic.
The 32-year-old actor – who is best known for playing Harry Potter in the money-spinning film franchise – will star as the Grammy-winning musician in ‘WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story’.
Looking forward to the project, Weird Al said: “When my last movie ‘UHF’ came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule.
“And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”
Production on the biopic is set to begin in Los Angeles in February, and the movie will be available exclusively on The Roku Channel.
Colin Davis, Roku’s head of original scripted programming, said: “There clearly aren’t enough biopic movies about famous musicians and we were excited to shine a light on the incredibly true, unexaggerated story of Weird Al.
“This is sincerely the ultimate combination of talent, creativity, and friends, coming together to make something genuinely funny and we could not be prouder to call this film a Roku Original.”
Eric Appel, the film’s writer and director, jumped at the chance to turn Weird Al’s life into a film.
Eric shared: “When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Baddiel’s dad passed away on Tuesday (18.01.22) evening.
The 57-year-old comedian has taken to Twitter to announce his dad’s death, and David admitted that he’ll leave a “huge hole in [his] sky”.
Alongside a throwback photo of his dad, David wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “My dad Colin Baddiel died earlier tonight. Thank so much to all of you who sent unbelievably lovely messages about him in response to all my posts over the years. He leaves a huge hole in my sky.”
Colin was previously diagnosed with Pick’s disease, which is a type of frontotemporal dementia.
David’s post prompted a string of sympathetic and supportive messages from various people within the TV industry.
Comedy star Sarah Millican wrote: “So sorry for your loss David x (sic)”
Jenny Eclair said: “Oh David, that’s so sad, love to you all (sic)”
Piers Morgan also expressed his sympathy on social media.
He wrote on Twitter: “So sorry to hear this, David. He seemed such a wonderful character and I loved your relationship. RIP Colin. (sic)”
David later added: “Thanks so much for all your incredible messages of support. It all so helps. I’d like to also thank while I’m here @bowles_clive , Sandra Wiseman and all the other amazing carers who helped look after my dad for the last seven years. (sic)”
David previously opened up about the type of relationship that he and his brother Ivor had with their dad, admitting it was “mainly abusive banter”.
The TV star shared: “I’ve never had a Hollywood father-son relationship with my dad, it’s mainly abusive banter. But now what has happened is the dementia has made it more extreme.
“I think I would like to have some proper emotional connection with him before he dies … But I don’t know how that is going to happen now.”

Daniel Craig offered Sam Mendes Bond job when he was drunk

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig offered Sam Mendes a job directing ‘Skyfall’ when he was drunk.
The 53-year-old actor – who departed his role as James Bond after five films in 2021’s ‘No Time To Die’ – got carried away when catching up with his old friend and collaborator at Hugh Jackman’s birthday party and in his intoxicated state, it felt “glaringly obvious” to ask the filmmaker to take the reins on what ultimately became his third outing as 007 in the 2012 movie.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Awards Chatter’ podcast, Daniel said: “I was definitely a little drunk and Sam turned up late. He just turned up and I hadn’t seen him for years, I hadn’t seen him since Road To Perdition… We sat down and were having a drink together and it just dawned on me, it was just like one of those… Because we’d been having conversations about directors… and it just became glaringly obvious to me, sitting opposite him. I was looking at him going, ‘Of course.’… And I just basically went, ‘I’m probably not supposed to say this, but do you want to direct the next Bond movie?’ ”
Sam – who also went on to direct 2015’s ‘Spectre’ – accepted the offer, prompting Daniel to quickly realise he’d be in trouble for handing out jobs that it wasn’t up to him to decide on.
He added: “And he just did this thing, he kinda just looked at me [and squinted] and said, ‘Yes.’ And I went, ‘Okay’, and I went, ‘I’m in s*** now.’ I’m sure there is somebody I have to talk to about that before I go offering directors jobs. It’s not my responsibility, but I was drunk! What can you say?”
Elsewhere on the podcast, Daniel admitted he is the “world’s worst reader” and struggles with audition scripts because he is “probably a bit dyslexic”.
Reflecting on his audition for Sam’s 2002 movie ‘Road to Perdition’, he said: “I’m probably a bit dyslexic. I did this reading and he said, ‘That was terrible, but I’ll give you the part as you’ve come all this way’.”

Ashley Banjo wants romance for Dancing On Ice contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Banjo has insisted there is “something wrong” if no one strikes up a relationship on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The 33-year-old choreographer – who will return to the show’s judging panel when the new season starts on Sunday (16.01.22) – admitted he wouldn’t be surprised to see love blossom between the competing contestants and their skating partners, having previously seen it happen on the show.
He said: “If you get through one of these shows without any romance there is something wrong.”
Although the Diversity star – who has Rose, two, and Micah, nine months, with wife Francesca Abbott – is close to Ice Panel newcomer Oti Mabuse, he insisted his spouse isn’t “worried” about the “curse” of the show hitting their relationship as he and the dancer are just “good friends”.
He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “We are good friends. She has semi-adopted my baby. When she danced with Diversity in the past she would have my baby on her shoulder and was carrying her around.
“You trust her with things like that. You always have a wild time when Oti is around. She’s always doing a TikTok in the corner, she is very positive.
“My wife isn’t worried about the love curse, I bring her to rehearsals with me and she’s friends with Oti, they are in regular contact.”
While Oti is excited about her new job, she admitted she had one big concern when she agreed to replace John Barrowman and join Ashley and skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean at the judges’ table.
She said: “Literally the first question I asked was will I be cold?
“I am not a daredevil on ice, I can skate but like in a straight line, I won’t be doing laps or racing.
“I don’t even like being cold. Me and Jayne (Torvill) are going to get a heater at the bottom of the table.”

Bez’s fiancee worried he’d ‘die’ on Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Bez’s fiancee fears he “could die” on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The Happy Mondays star – who will be the first contestant on the show to wear a protective helmet – admitted his skills on the ice are very limited and he won’t be pushing himself too hard because he doesn’t want to get injured ahead of his wedding to Firouzeh Razavi, while she is worry about him taking a tumble on his head.
He said: “When I first started [skating], I had double vision, I was seeing two ice rinks. The worst thing was trying to put food in my mouth, I kept missing it!”
“On Friday, in rehearsals, I kept falling over. I was so nervous. Don’t worry, though – I’m not going to kill myself. I’m getting married so I can’t take any risks.”
Firouzeh, 35, added to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “When he told me he fell, I was like, ‘Oh no, that is not good at all’. I always say, ‘Whatever you do, protect your head. You can’t fall on your head because you could die’.
“I don’t want to attract negative energy… we’re a lucky couple.”
The ‘Step On’ hitmaker also laughed off any chance of romance with his skating partner, Angela Egan, because he “couldn’t be bothered” with any personal drama.
He said: “At 57, I’ve lost the libido where you want to sh** everyone in the room. It’s a good thing… Firou’s got me at my best.
“I couldn’t be bothered with all the drama, I’m definitely getting older.
“All men are lotharios until a certain age, but I think everybody is quite well behaved on this show.”
And Bez insisted he simply has a “genuine friendship” with his “great” partner.
He added: “She’s a northern lass. They put us together because they thought we would understand each other because of our accents.
“I can see why people find love on the show – the girls are very attractive. But it’s not the case with me and Angela.
“We have a genuine friendship without any sexual tension.”

Kym Marsh wants to return to Coronation Street one day

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh “has no doubt” she’ll return to ‘Coronation Street’ one day.
The 41-year-old star played Michelle Connor on the ITV soap from 2006 until December 2019 and she’s hoping bosses don’t kill her character off off-screen in the near future because she’d love to go back to the show eventually as it holds so many happy memories for her.
Asked if she’d ever return to the soap, she said: “Yeah, possibly. I love Coronation Street, it’s where I started and it gave me the biggest part of my career. I had wonderful times there, I made wonderful friends and I loved the character of Michelle, so I have no doubt I’ll go back at some point – as long as they don’t kill me off off-screen!”
Kym has been keeping busy and can soon be seen as Alex Forrest in a touring production of ‘Fatal Attraction’ – the opening of which has been delayed until next week due to “Covid-related” issues – but she admitted she is “absolutely terrified” about some of the intimate scenes in the racy play.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper’s Notebook magazine: “Oh I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been in the acting game for a long time now and this is something I’ve never actually done – it’s going to be a challenge in itself. But I think once I’ve done it once it will be fine.
“And it’s not real! It’s just another side to the part I’m playing. Obviously, taking some of your clothes off on stage is quite daunting, but it will be alright – I’ll just keep getting in that gym.”
But Kym is excited to be acting again.
She said: “When I left ‘Corrie’ it was because I wanted to do other things and take on some new challenges, which I have with presenting.
“But with my acting I hadn’t done that yet, so I’ve been looking forward to playing this role. This is something I’ve wished for for a long time. Alex is a very complex character. It’s an interesting one to play and a dream role for me.”

Rylan Clark didn’t think he could ‘go on’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark “didn’t think [he] could continue” to live after his marriage broke down.
The 33-year-old star split from husband Dan Neal – who he married in 2015 – last year and took a four-month break from the spotlight after things got “very bad” and he reached a point where he never thought he would “come back”.
Rylan – whose real first name is Ross – said: “I’d got to the point where I didn’t know if I wanted to come back. Or whether I would be able to do this job again. I’d got… quite ill.
“I went down to just over 9st and I’m 6ft 4in. It got bad. Like, very bad. And I didn’t think it would get better. I needed help…
“Everyone feels like I’m their mate. I was probably talking to five million people a night. But last summer for the first time, I literally felt alone.
“I’ve always been strong. I’ve always taken a lot of s***. And this is where Rylan and Ross come into play. Because when it’s Rylan I’m a brick wall. You can take the p***out of my teeth, call me a ****, and I’ll just go, that’s fine. This is what I get paid for. But when it’s Ross, I don’t deal with that well. And when you find out something you always wanted isn’t what you thought it was…
“I didn’t think I’d be here. I didn’t think I could continue.”
Asked if he meant to work or to live, he replied: “Both. I didn’t think I’d actually come back. I was very… gone.”
The former ‘This Morning’ host admitted he went into hospital “for safety reasons” because he no longer “knew” himself.
He told Observer magazine: “I’m the last person that my friends would ever believe could feel as low as I did. Superficially, on paper, I can look after myself, but actually in that moment and for months after, none of the money or the fame mattered. I did not know myself at certain points. I was having thoughts and doing things that made me… f***** up, for want of a better word. I didn’t understand why I was doing that to myself. So, I went away for a bit.”
Rylan has vowed to take more control over his life and not let it be overshadowed by fame.
He said: [I learnt] I always say yes to everything and I nod and smile. But now if there’s something I really don’t want to do, I’m going to say no. I’ve learned to be more in control. I’ve not had control for so long, I feel like Britney!
“Because my life was really my job. I feel like I lost a lot of me. I’ve learned that fame is something that I wanted, but not necessarily the thing I want still. And don’t get me wrong, it’s always lovely meeting people and being treated certain ways. But sometimes it’s important to stand in the queue. Sometimes you want to just fuck off over the garden centre to buy a plant.
“Strange situations do very strange things to people. If it wasn’t for my mum, and my family and close friends I genuinely have no idea if I’d be here.
“I learned I’m worth something. That I should be proud of myself, not embarrassed of Rylan. I should be proud that I can build my mum a house. I should be proud that I can employ my family. I learned that.”

Brendan Cole tops the Dancing On Ice leaderboard

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Cole topped the leaderboard during the ‘Dancing On Ice’ launch night.
The 45-year-old ballroom dancer and his partner Vanessa Bauer impressed the judges with their first effort of the series, scoring 30.5 out of 40 points.
After Brendan’s first routine, judge Christopher Dean said: “Tonight it was on form, you were strength, strong, superior and masculine. What I really appreciate is that you’re really getting into the ice.”
Christopher also pointed out that Brendan’s dancing background helped him to impress on the ice.
He explained: “He’s learned to skate, which enables to show off him his dancing ability.”
Ashley Banjo was similarly enthusiastic about Brendan’s performance on the opening night.
He also point out that it’s not easy to make the transition from the ballroom to the ice.
Ashley said: “As someone who could dance before I could skate, they are completely different worlds.”
Elsewhere, Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt and her professional partner Mark Hanretty – who performed to ‘What About Us’ by Pink – scored 30 out of 40.
By contrast, Happy Mondays’ Bez and his partner Angela Egan failed to impress the judges.
The music star – who wore a crash helmet after suffering injuries during training – performed to his own song ‘Step On’, but was awarded a meagre 12.5 out of 40.
Christopher said: “Skating is hard, you’ve shown how hard it is. You’ve got a mark for turning up, standing up and a mark for that jump.”
However, Ashley admitted to being “genuinely entertained” by Bez’s performance.
He explained: “You’ve got my respect, if anyone needed to wear a crash helmet – I don’t think they’d come out. But you have. Forgot the scores I was genuinely entertained.”

Dancing on Ice star Sean Rice dies aged 49

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dancing on Ice’ star Sean Rice has died at the age of 49.
The figure skater – who starred on the ITV show in 2011 and 2012 – passed away on January 14.
Alongside a video of his best moments on the ice, skater Frankie Poultney wrote on Twitter: “Pro skaters are heartbroken today, we lost a true larger than life great – an epic skater, a husband, father, and my friend of 20 years.
“Sean Rice, 20/07/72 – 14/01/22 gone too soon, but we will Love You For A Thousand Years.
“All of our thoughts are with Signey and Jodeyne. (sic)”
Fellow ‘Dancing on Ice’ star Matt Evers has also taken to Twitter to pay tribute to his late co-star.
The 45-year-old skater described Sean as “incredible”.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “One of the best… thank you Sean for your gift. This routine from The Professionals on Ice was incredible. It was a pleasure to know and work with you… [broken-heart emoji] (sic)”
Sean’s cause of death has not yet been revealed.
However, a GoFundMe page has already been set up to support Sean’s wife, Jodeyne Higgins, and their daughter, Signey.
A message on the site reads: “In Memory of Sean Rice. The world has lost a great man – a coach, son, friend, husband and poppa bear. It’s with immense sadness to say that Sean Rice has passed away.
“Sean was a passionate, larger than life man who would stop and give to anyone who needed him. It’s with that same spirit, we are reaching out to everyone to pour prayers and love over Jodeyne and Signey during this very difficult time.
“So many people have reached out asking how they can help and so we have set up this go fund account to support Jodeyne and Signey at this time. Let’s take care of them the same way Sean always took care of others. (sic)”

Vicky McClure doesn’t want Doctor Who role

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure has ruled herself out of starring in ‘Doctor Who’.
The ‘Trigger Point’ actress admitted speculation linking her to the lead role in the show is “lovely” but following in Jodie Whittaker’s footsteps as the Doctor doesn’t interest her because she’s drawn to characters that are “relatable” and picks projects she’s enjoy watching herself.
Asked about the speculation, she told The Guardian newspaper: “It’s lovely. It’s a real compliment. It’s an iconic piece of telly that’s been going for ever and ever, and I’m sure will continue to, and I wish it well, but it’s not for me.
“It’s not even something I watch. You know, the TV I make is usually the TV I will enjoy myself. So what I tend to do is go for parts I feel can stretch my imagination – like, even bomb disposal is so far from my world, but the understanding of fear, we all have. Once we start moving to sci-fi, that’s where I start to lose interest.”
The 38-year-old actress insisted she still doesn’t know if there will be a seventh series of ‘Line of Duty’ but she and co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar are “game” to make more.
Asked if there will be another series, she said: “I don’t know! I don’t know, there’s no word of it. I think we’ve all been really honest and said should that happen, we’re all game.”
Vicky suggested she will only want to continue with the show – which was created by Jed Mercurio – for as long as her co-stars do too.
She added: “I’ll just stick with the guys. I think when it comes to a close, it will be a natural close for us all. And we’re very close with Jed, so it’s not a business transaction, do you know what I mean?
“This isn’t business, this is our lives and we’ve all created careers from it, and we’ve all got a lot out of it. Not only that, I can’t imagine my life without Adey and Martin in that acting capacity where it’s like, well, at least I get to be with my mates for four months of the year.
“That will be a big blow [when it ends]. But, you know, everything comes to an end, and everything’s got a shelf life. So when that natural end is, is when it is. I’m just loyal to that. I can’t see me going, ‘I’m done, I’ve got a better job, I’m off’, because what’s better than ‘Line of Duty’?”

Jess Wright reveals she’s expecting a baby boy

OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Wright has revealed she is expecting a baby boy.
The 36-year-old TV star and her businessman spouse, William Lee-Kemp – who tied the knot in Mallorca last September – have shared the gender of their first child together.
Jess admitted she was “pretty shocked” to find out she will be giving birth to a son because she is “so girly”.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, she gushed: “I can’t wait for a little boy to call me ‘mummy’.
“I don’t know why but I always envisioned being a girl mum because I’m so girly so I was pretty shocked to hear it was a boy, but I couldn’t be happier. It’s made it feel more real to call the baby ‘him’.”
Will admitted: “It feels surreal! I was happy with either sex but the fact that I’m having a son as my first child … it doesn’t really get any better. I can’t wait for weekends for father-son bonding and teaching him to hopefully be a well-mannered, lovely little boy.”
The brunette beauty also revealed that the pair found out about the pregnancy at their wedding in the Balearic Islands.
She said: “It feels like a fairytale – we eventually got our wedding and believe it or not, I was unknowingly pregnant at the wedding.”
After their nuptials were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple believe it’s “fate” that they learned they were set to become parents as they married.
Will added: “It was emotional. Ultimately, it feels like fate. We finally got married, and now it’s all clicked into place.”
Jess fell pregnant naturally after they froze their embryos, and they couldn’t feel more “grateful and blessed”.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star admitted: “I feel bad because I’ve tapped into this world of fertility struggles, and early menopause, and all of a sudden, I’ve fallen pregnant. “We feel so grateful and blessed.”

George Clooney reveals why Ben Affleck was his first choice for The Tender Bar

OHMYGOSSIP — George Clooney says Ben Affleck was his first choice for the role of Uncle Charlie in ‘The Tender Bar’.
The 60-year-old Hollywood icon directed the 2021 coming-of-age drama – which is an adaptation of the 2005 memoir of the same name by J. R. Moehringer – and has revealed the 49-year-old actor was the first person both he and producer Grant Heslov thought of to portray the “smart and well-read” character.
When the interview joked that they chose Affleck over Matt Damon, 51, Clooney quipped: “It was. Hard times, and we thought we could get him cheap. You know, it’s funny, this is a character that when Grant [Heslov, Tender’s producer] and I read it, we were like, ‘Well, who’s going to play that part?’ And both of us at the same time thought about Ben.
“We’ve worked with Ben before. We like him a lot. He’s very smart, which this character has to be. He’s well-read, as Ben is. And he’s also the guy who works at a bar, a working-class guy, and Ben has the ability to do that. To me, it was always like listening to the Sopranos doing Shakespeare. There was something really interesting about hearing these guys with Long Island accents but they’re talking about, you know, great authors.”
Uncle Charlie, the owner of a local bar, is like a father to J. R. (Tye Sheridan) and encourages him to become a writer.
And the ‘Money Monster’ star also revealed Affleck sent him “a two-page email” explaining why he was the perfect fit for the part.
Clooney added to Entertainment Weekly: “So when we sent it to Ben, It was about this time last year, I guess, and we didn’t know what he was doing. Didn’t know what his world was like. And he sent back like, a two-page email that went on forever about why he’s exactly the right guy and how he’s going to kick ass and he’ll do it for nothing.”

Courteney Cox reveals shock Scream death axed by producers

OHMYGOSSIP — Courteney Cox has revealed David Arquette was supposed to be killed off in the first ‘Scream’ movie.
The 57-year-old actress admitted the franchise could have been very different but movie bosses realised how popular his character, cop Dewey Riley, would be with viewers so had a change of heart and tweaked the plot of the 1996 horror classic.
Courteney told Pedestrian TV: “There was a time, I think it was in the first ‘Scream’, where David’s character Dewey was gonna be killed off.
“Then they saw how he came across and people loved him so they scrapped it.”
David and Courteney – who married in 1999 but split in 2010 – recently reunited for a fifth ‘Scream’ movie and the actor admitted it was “really tough” working on the film without beloved director Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015.
He said: “This is the first ‘Scream’ film without Wes and it’s been really tough.”
It has been almost 25 years since the first ‘Scream’ hit cinemas and the cast believe the franchise has the potential to continue for years to come.
He insisted’: “I actually do think ‘Scream’ will be able to live on.
“When you start something like Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven did, and really grounded it in this iconic character (Ghostface) that’s now sort of on the Mount Rushmore of horror characters, you know it will have life.”
Neve Campbell added: “It would seem people aren’t getting bored of these films. I know when I see fans they’re always asking me when we’re going to make another one.”
Courteney promised fans the new movie will live up to the standard set by the original.
She said: “’Scream’ will always be a classic. I want [the fans] to know they’re going to experience a movie that’s very similar to the first one.
“It’s scarier, probably, than it was 25 years ago. So it’s up to date in a different way.”
