OHMYGOSSIP — Kimberly Wyatt hopes that her dance skills will help her succeed in ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The 39-year-old mother-of-three believes that her signature “standing oversplit”, which she created when she was in the Pussycat Dolls, will help her to stand out from the other competitors.
She said: “My legs have been my biggest weapon in life.
“Michael Jackson has the moonwalk, but in Pussycat Dolls I created the standing oversplit and now it’s become a language among dancers around the world.
“So many girls do it, boys do it and always tag me and it’s a thing.
“So I’m quite grateful that I’ve been able to create that and grateful to be turning 40 and be a mum of three and still get an ¬opportunity to stretch my limbs like that.”
And Kimberly revealed the wardrobe department have been working hard to preserve her modesty during her racy ice routines.
She said: ” “I’ve got a good relationship with the wardrobe department now, they totally understand and they made sure that leotard was perfect.
“That’s my worst nightmare, a wardrobe malfunction of any type. I’ve always been so safe. I’d always have boy shorts that I could count on if the crotch that was in a costume was a bit too small.
“I would wear three bras — one to keep them covered, one to give them some push, then the costume on top.
“So if one bra popped, I had two to keep me safe.”

Denzel Washington wants to ‘steal’ filmmaking secrets from Joel Coen

OHMYGOSSIP — Denzel Washington “stole” directing tips from Joel Coen.
The ‘Tragedy of Macbeth’ actor has admitted he learned “everything” from the iconic filmmaker while working with him on the new big screen adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play.
Asked what lessons he wanted to take with him as a director himself, he told Collider: “Everything. I was stealing too. I mean, he’s a master.
“So you wonder sometime, why over here? I remember asking him one time he was setting up a shot and I wasn’t in it. I had my directors hat on, because I wasn’t in that part of the scene.
“So I said, ‘Now, I noticed you put the camera down here, like a lower angle. Are you making a statement? Is that a psychological thing? Or why’d you put the camera so low?’
“He said, ‘Actually I just like the ceiling.’ I was like, ‘You like the ceiling?’ He said, ‘Yeah, look up.’ I was like, ‘Oh yeah.’ He said, ‘Yeah, I like the way the ceiling looked.’ ”
Washington asked him if it was really “as simple as that”, and found out the importance of being prepared to allow for moments of “improvisation”.
He explained: “Basically what he said was, he didn’t say this word for word, but what I got from it was, it was as simple as that now, because he had done everything else.
“He was prepared. He had thought about it every way. He storyboarded, he thought about every angle and then at that moment he said, ‘No, I like this.’
“So he had done the work, but then he was still open to improvisation or another way of looking at it, reinterpreting.”
The 67-year-old star admitted Coen had planned out everything in advance.
He added: “Well, he had photographs and ideas up everywhere. When you went to the production office, you could see the movie on the wall.
“You could see where he was going or where he wanted to go and what influenced him and he was open. He just had pictures and drawings and stuff everywhere, so there was so much to absorb.”

Duchess Camilla wants Grace cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Camilla wants a cameo in ITV crime drama ‘Grace’.
The Duchess of Cornwall – who is married to Prince Charles – is a huge fan of the show, which stars John Simms and Richie Campbell, and told writer Peter James that she would love to make an appearance.
James – who wrote the series of books the show is based on – said during a recent appearance on ‘The Argus’ podcast that he joked to Camilla: “Would you like a cameo in the next series?”
And she replied: “Yes, maybe I could be a dead body!”
He went on to describe Camilla as “really good fun” and added: “I think she might do something! I’m definitely going to drop her a note and say the offer is open.”
He also revealed that he and Camilla have been in contact for a number of years, ever since she revealed herself to be a fan of his work.
He said: “She said Peter James was one of her two favourite writers, so I wrote to her as a thank you. Since then, we had this correspondence where she would write to me after every book – a hand-written letter, always very charming.
“Then she started doing a book club during COVID called the Duchess’s Reading Room, and selected the Roy Grace novels.
“I asked her if she’d like to come to the set and see some of the filming and she said absolutely.”

Oti Mabuse sets up property company

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti Mabuse has set up a property company.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional and her dancer husband, Marius Iepure, 39, are both named as directors of Lionshead Property Investments, according to The Mirror.
Meanwhile, Oti, 31, recently insisted she won’t be “biased” when it comes to judging Brendan Cole on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The dancer is now a judge on the ITV figure skating show and she worked with Brendan during his time as a dancer on ‘Strictly’, but has insisted she won’t be giving her former colleague an easy time.
She said: “We worked together for two years. Brendan is such a big character, but I won’t be biased.
“He’s got one of the best professional skaters in Vanessa [Bauer], so there’s this expectation that he’s going to be amazing.
“Before he knew I was doing it [being a DOI judge], he told me: ‘People think it’ll be easy, but it’s really difficult. And people expect that I’m going to be great, but I’m struggling.'”
During his time on ‘Strictly’, Brendan was known to challenge the judges, but Oti doubts the choreographer will “argue” the ‘DOI’ panel, which is completed by skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and Diversity’s Ashley Banjo.
She added: “I don’t think he will argue with the judges. That’s something that he did on ‘Strictly’ because he was defending his partner.
“Now he’s the one learning the new skill.
“He’s grown up and he’s gonna take [the judges’ comments] on board and try to get better.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Neve Campbell thinks it would be a mistake for the ‘Scream’ franchise to kill off her character.
The 48-year-old actress has reprised her role as Sidney Prescott in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s new film in the series and Neve hopes Sidney survives any future movies.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think it is important [that she never becomes a victim in these movies]. She does represent a certain amount of strength and lack of victimhood, and that means a great deal to people. I’ve had a lot of people come up to me in the past and just say that she inspired them in some way or helped them in their lives in some way, which is not what you normally expect when you’re performing in a horror film. I certainly would hate to see Sidney fall. I think it would be the wrong message.”
Neve also admitted that she found it emotional to return to the franchise without the movie’s original director Wes Craven, who died in 2015.
She said: “Walking onto that set without Wes being present, with a sign hanging across the kitchen that said ‘For Wes,’ I burst into tears when I walked in on the first day. And from what I understand, Courteney [Cox] and David [Arquette] did as well. I certainly felt his absence, but I also felt his presence daily on the film. These movies, these characters, the images of Ghostface and these sets all belong to Wes so he was very, very present in our minds and in our conversations as well. If anyone was apprehensive about a choice being made, we would always talk about what Wes would want to do, and the directors certainly appreciated that and wanted to hear that, which was great.”

Tom Chaplin exposed as Poodle on The Masked Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Chaplin has been unmasked as Poodle on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The 42-year-old star – who is the lead singer of Keane – has become the latest celebrity to be unmasked on the ITV series.
Tom – who performed a cover of Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’ – said: “One of the prerequisites of doing the show was that I had to be a poodle.
“My wife had a poodle who lived to 17 and was an integral part of our lives, so it seemed like the perfect choice.”
Tom also mocked the efforts of the judging panel, which includes Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
The musician described their guesses as “hopeless”.
He said: “Amongst the guesses were Snoop Dogg, Grayson Perry and a vague suggestion that I simply must be a drag queen!
“I was kind of flattered that they eventually got stuck on Mika, who’s a great singer and performer. I have to admit to being surprised that Jonathan didn’t have an inkling it was me, especially given that I must have been on his TV show several times over the years.”
Last week, tennis legend Pat Cash was unmasked as Bagpipes on the ITV series.
And following his exit from the show, Pat explained what motivated him to take to the stage.
He said: “I’ve always been a frustrated rock star and fancied doing the ‘Masked Singer’ from the first day I saw it.
“I just thought it would be so much fun to rock out, although I prefer to hide behind a guitar instead of a sweaty mask. It was a great experience overall.
“As luck would have it, my schedule cleared. I’m a big believer in letting your higher power take over and I suppose it meant I was able to take part in the show.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Max Parker and Kris Mochrie have got engaged.
The ‘Emmerdale’ stars – who played on-screen brothers Luke and Lee Posner respectively – are set to take their relationship to the next level after Max popped the question during a romantic proposal on the beach.
Sharing a series of photos from his proposal, along with a secretly-filmed video clip of him asking Kris to marry him, Max wrote on Instagram: “He deserves the world, but the best I could do was promise him my heart. HE SAID YES! Happiest moment of my life. @krismoc my Fiancé.”
Kris – who has been dating his co-star since 2020 – shared a similar set of pictures and admitted he was elated that his “best friend” had popped the question.
He gushed on his own Instagram account: “The beautiful soul that is my best friend asked me to marry him yesterday. I can’t begin to describe how happy I am.
“I love him beyond words, we laugh every single day and I’m so so grateful that he came in to my life.”
The actor was particularly touched by the efforts Max had gone to to create a sentimental engagement ring for the surprise proposal.
He added: “I had no idea at all! But it was just perfect… I mean this film says it all. Max had asked my Mum for any jewellery that my Gran had. Mum still had my Grans locket and he has had it made in to the middle of the engagement ring on the inside. So so special.
“Thank you to the job that brought us together, our incredible family and friends. And the amazing love from you all. I’m a very lucky boy. WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!!! xxx”.
Back in September 2020, Kris revealed he was dating his former co-star.
He said: “It’s great to meet someone through work and have so many things in common and an understanding of each other’s jobs … We didn’t actually share any scenes together on ‘Emmerdale’ but kept in touch after I left. I don’t want to jinx things. We are seeing how we get on. We had a great time on holiday in Dubai. Let’s see how it goes.”

Regan Gascoigne isn’t ‘the famous one’

OHMYGOSSIP — Regan Gascoigne “doesn’t know how” he got chosen for ‘Dancing On Ice’ because he’s “not the famous one”.
The 25-year-old dancer – who is the son of footballing legend Paul Gascoigne and his ex-wife Sheryl – admitted being part of the show is very “emotional” for him and he warned viewers not to be surprised if he breaks down in tears.
Regan, who is partnered by professional skater Karina Manta, told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “I am very emotional. My whole family is. You will definitely see some tears at some point.
“I’ve have definitely welled up a few times in training. The other day I was watching Torvill and Dean skating and emotion came over me because I realised I am getting to skate on a show with them.
“I don’t think I’m famous. I don’t know how I actually got this job. I genuinely don’t. I’m not the famous one — my dad is the famous one.
“So this is an emotional journey. One minute you’re excited, the next minute you’re nervous.”
Regan is hoping his dad will be in the audience to watch him skate on Sunday (23.01.22).
He said: “My dad is supporting me all the time. Everything I’ve ever done, he’s always there. My family are really supportive.
“Hopefully he is going to be in the audience rooting for me. He will be proud of me whatever happens.”
Bookies have named Regan as favourite to win the series, much to his bemusement.
He said: “I have no idea why I’m the favourite. I’ve trained as a dancer, but this is a totally different ballgame. It’s so much harder than I was expecting.
“After watching the first show last weekend and seeing the first lot of contestants nail it, I am so much more nervous. I can’t believe I’m actually doing it.
“I’m not competitive. I just love doing what I do. I enjoy performing. I’m just living it and enjoying every moment.”

Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 hit by further delays

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ will not be released until 2023.
The latest installment of Tom Cruise’s action saga was first due for release in July 2021, but was pushed back to May this year and later delayed again to 30 September, and now Paramount Pictures and Skydance have announced the movie will now not be seen in cinemas until 14 July 2023 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on production.
As a result, the eighth film, which was expected to be released in July next year, will now not come out until 28 July 2024.
In a joint statement, the studios said: “After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic.
“We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience.”
Production on the seventh film – which is being directed by Christopher McQuarrie – began in Venice, Italy, in February 2020 but it was halted due to the pandemic and eventually moved to the UK when work could restart.
However, it has been hit by delays twice, most recently in June 2021 following positive COVID-19 tests within the cast and crew.
Tom famously does his own stunts and it was recently revealed he had been learning to fly a World War II military plane for ‘Mission: Impossible 8’.
A source said recently: “Tom had started to learn to fly a Boeing Stearman biplane earlier this year for a major stunt scene in ‘Mission: Impossible 8’.
“It’s obviously a highly skilled task but as usual he has no plans to cut any corners or bring in a stuntman.
“Filming has only just wrapped on ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ but Tom has not given himself a break.
“And trying to film jaw-dropping scenes with an 80-year-old plane is particularly dangerous.”

The Godfather icon Francis Ford Coppola calls himself ‘a second-rate director’

OHMYGOSSIP — Francis Ford Coppola considers himself “just a second-rate director”.
The 82-year-old filmmaker has reflected on the legacy of ‘The Godfather’ – which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year – and suggested the classic film elevated him in the eyes of the public.
Speaking candidly to Empire magazine, he said: “I’ve heard ‘The Godfather’ cited as one of the greatest movies ever made.
“When you compare to the great artists of cinema, like G.W. Pabst and Fritz Lang, and the great Murnau, Hitchcock, then the great Italian and Japanese directors – when you really view the heroes of cinema, I have to say that I should be considered just a second-rate director.
“But I’m a first-rate second-rate director.”
Coppola explained that ‘The Godfather’ changed his life and turned him into a celebrity, while he eventually went on to be considered equal to his peers.
He added: “In my heart, all I ever really wanted was to be considered one of the group, which I am now because when they talk about all the big directors of the ’70s, they say George Lucas and Francis Coppola and Marty Scorsese and Steven Spielberg and Brain De Palma and Paul Schrader.
“So I have what I want – I am one of the group.”
While his stance on the movie has “softened” over the years, he noted at the time it was “a nightmare” because he constantly felt like he had no power and was at risk of being fired.
He said: “It was the worst experience. ‘Apocalypse Now’ was a pretty tough experience for other kinds of reasons, but usually those films, which I’m so well known for, were nightmares to work on.
“Just the fact that I was young and tenacious and didn’t give up is why they got done.
“I mean, when you think of all the troubles we had… so 50 years later it’s nice to say, OK, ‘The Godfather’ was a wonderful success – but it was an awful experience. It was terrible. It was a nightmare.”

Doctor Who: Anjli Mohindra wants Lennie James to play next Doctor

OHMYGOSSIP — Anjli Mohindra wants Lennie James to replace Jodie Whittaker in ‘Doctor Who’.
The ‘Sarah Jane Adventures’ star – who played Rani Chandra in the spin-off series – has called on the ‘Walking Dead’ actor to take on the role of the Time Lord once Jodie steps down later this year.
She told Digital Spy: “I think a lot of the people that I’d love to see play that role, have already played a part in the Whoniverse. Lydia West is a very interesting fan favourite.
“I actually think that Lennie James would be absolutely incredible. I don’t know if a lot of people have thought of him but I think he’d be really cool.
“And [‘Sherlock’ actress] Vinette Robinson, I think, would also be a fantastic Doctor.”
Vinette has actually appeared in ‘Doctor Who’ before, having played Rosa Parks in 2018.
Meanwhile, 2022 marks the 15th anniversary of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, and Anjli was delighted to reprise her role for the 2020 special ‘Farewell, Sarah Jane’.
She said: “It’s a show I cut my teeth on as an actor, and will always hold in such high regard, and remember so fondly.
“Because it was my training ground, and I made friends on that job that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”
As well as the spin-off, the 31-year-old actress has her own experience on the main ‘Doctor Who’ show too, having played Queen Skithra in the series 12 episode ‘Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror’.
Anjli revealed she’s open to the idea of taking on other roles in the sci-fi seris, particularly if she can play a villain again.
She added: “In ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, I was playing Rani most of the time.
“But once I did get taken over by Androvax, I think, and had a moment of being a bit evil for a hot sec. But, yeah, playing a villain is really exciting.”

Peacemaker director James Gunn confirms series star will return in future DCEU movie

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn has confirmed a ‘Peacemaker’ star will be returning for a future DC Extended Universe movie.
The 55-year-old director – who is at the helm of the HBO Max spin-off based on his recent big screen blockbuster of the same name – has revealed one of its recurring characters will be back for a “big” project.
He told the ‘TV’s Top 5’ podcast: “It [‘Peacemaker’] is part of the DCU, I mean they can use these characters…
“I mean one of these characters, which people have kind of figured out, one of these characters is used in a future big DC movie that’s from here. So we are connected to all of this.”
He didn’t confirm any firm details, but he pointed to the huge success of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and those characters’ involvement in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe’ as proof that anything’s possible.
He aded: “Who knows what role these characters are going to play in the future?
“I mean no one knew who the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ were, and then all of a sudden they’re massive players in ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’.
“So who knows what’s going to happen with Peacemaker in 10 years, five years, or whatever?”
On the subject of ‘Guardians’, Gunn recently addressed the upcoming third film in the series and insisted it won’t be the movie people “expect”.
Asked for an update on the film, he said: “It’s going great. Chukwudi [Iwuji], who plays Murn in ‘Peacemaker’, is one of the main characters in the movie and people are freaking out over how good this guy is. Literally freaking out.
“I think that I’m really happy. I gave a bunch of scenes to Marvel right before Christmas break. Kevin [Feige] went… They were all really, really, really stoked.
“But also, it’s not going to be the movie people… It’s different than what people are going to expect. It’s a hard road, but I’m really happy with it so far.”

Ethan Hawke to join Julia Roberts in Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind

OHMYGOSSIP — Ethan Hawke is set to star alongside Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali in the upcoming Netflix thriller ‘Leave the World Behind’.
The movie is based on the Rumaan Alam novel of the same name and is to be directed by Sam Esmail.
According to Deadline, the 51-year-old actor is set to portray Julia’s husband.
‘Industry’ actress Myha’la Herrold, 25, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, 11, and Charlie Evans have also joined the cast.
The latter two will play Ethan and Julia’s on-screen children, while Myha’la will take on the role of Mahershala’s offspring.
‘Leave the World Behind’ tells the story of two families who are forced together on a long weekend, which goes badly wrong.
Julia, 54, has worked with Esmail, 44, before on the Amazon drama series ‘Homecoming’.
Denzel Washington, 67, was initially set to take on Mahershala’s role in the flick, which would have seen him reunite with his ‘The Pelican Brief’ co-star, Julia.
Meanwhile, Ethan is also set to star in Robert Eggers’ historical thriller ‘The Northman’ and recently explained that it was the largest scale movie he had worked on for a long time.
He said: “I did the Robert Eggers film this year, which was the first film in a while that I’ve done that was really big. Robert really strives for a level of excellence that’s really exciting.
“It was one of the rare times when you’re making an independent movie that has a real budget around it, so he was able to work at a pace that was more like it was when I started.”
Ethan suggested that the motion picture will “feel a lot bigger” than Robert’s previous film ‘The Lighthouse’, which featured Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, and hailed the director for “dancing on the edge” with his work.
Asked about the scale of the respective films, he said: “No, no. It’ll feel a lot bigger than that, but it’s just as adventuresome. I mean, who knows?
“What’s fun about Robert is he goes and dances out on the edge. I have no idea if it’ll work, but it was certainly thrilling to be a part of.”

Rachel Stevens pulls out of Dancing on Ice debut due to injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Stevens has pulled out of Sunday night’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ after injuring herself in training.
The 43-year-old singer was due to make her debut on the ice on Sunday (23.01.22), but following expert advice from the ITV show’s medical professionals she will miss out and hopefully skate the following week.
A spokesperson for ‘Dancing on Ice’ said: “Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the ‘Dancing on Ice’ medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday’s show.
“We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend.”
Rachel suffered a fractured wrist following a fall, but she is hoping to skate for the first time in Week Three, Sunday January 30th.
It comes after Happy Mondays star Bez was struck down with COVID this week, but he was not due to skate on Sunday’s show anyway.
Earlier this month, Rachel admitted she was “terrified” of making her ‘Dancing On Ice’ debut.
The former S Club 7 star – who rose to fame as a member of the ‘Reach’ group in the late-90s – is partnered up with ice skating professional Brendyn Hatfield on the forthcoming season, and admitted that while she can dance, she is feeling nervous about performing on the ice in front of the nation.
She said: “I’m so excited – I can’t wait for it all to get started. It’s such a great team of people and I love my partner Brendyn Hatfield, so it’s all super-exciting but terrifying at the same time. Totally terrifying!
“I’ve danced and performed for years but doing it on ice means starting something totally from scratch.
“But I can’t wait to just go for it and have fun – and I’m loving working with Brendyn. He’s just adorable and such a brilliant teacher.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Happy Mondays star Bez has been sliding on his bathroom floor in fluffy socks to practice his balance amid his coronavirus isolation.
The 57-year-old musician tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, but he is hoping to be back on the ITV skating show for his next planned performance, January 30th, and in the meantime, he’s been thinking of creative ways to keep up his training.
He said: “I’m isolating in my cottage right, so I’ve got these fluffy socks on and I’m sliding about on the lino in the bathroom and I’ve got this big full length mirror I’m looking in, so I’m still practising my balance and not falling over.
“I’m just desperate to get back out there, you know what I mean?”
Bez was also said to be planning to use washing-up liquid on his kitchen floor to recreate the ‘Dancing on Ice’ rink.
He said: “I’ve got wood down there on the kitchen floor, so it wouldn’t work.”
Bez doesn’t have any symptoms, so he is grateful to ITV’s “stringent” testing process.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “I’m 100 per cent fine and I’m sending love to anyone who has COVID with bad symptoms.
“I just feel so relieved that ITV’s testing process is so stringent because otherwise I wouldn’t know I’d had it, you know what I mean?
“I’m juicing, juicing, juicing with my cold press juice machine, it sounds like a combine harvester, but I’m doing that for vitamin C to beat this, and apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper.”
An ITV spokeswoman said: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines.”
His latest comments come after he admitted this week he is already better at ice skating than he “ever imagined being” after just one week on the ITV show.
He said: “Knowing how difficult it is to get out there and earn money, I jumped at the opportunity.
“I had never skated before so it’s a brand-new skill I’ve been learning. I’m now better than I ever imagined being.
“Even though, I’m still relatively rubbish at it, I can’t believe the things they’ve got me doing on ice.”
