OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett was offered a “half-price” discount by an electrician in exchange for confidential ‘Masked Singer’ secrets.
The presenter of the bonkers ITV entertainment show – which sees famous faces dress in a disguise to hide their identities before being unmasked – often has to “deal with” a barrage of questions about the true identity of the competing celebrities.
And he revealed the workman was desperate for Joel to tell him who Panda is on the current season.
The 36-year-old stand-up told The Mirror: “I do get asked all the time. Put it this way, I got a quote yesterday from an electrician and he said ‘I’ll do it for half price if you tell me who Panda is’.”
Luckily for the show’s bosses, the funnyman refused to give anything away.
He added: “It is not worth it for me but that is what I am dealing with.”
However, he does find it hard when he’s around his model wife Hannah Cooper.
He said: “I try as a rule to never say the name of anyone who is in the mask once I have left the studio. I try to block the show out of my mind.
“Then when it is on I watch it with Hannah and sometimes if it is an amazing, amazing thing I might have told her something about it but generally it is best I keep it from her and she can play along.
“Then when she says a name, I say to her the same thing I say to everyone which is ‘hmmm … interesting guess’.”
Meanwhile, Joel commended judge Jonathan Ross – who sits on the panel with Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, and Davina McCall on Saturday nights at 7pm – after he “stepped up” his game with his guesses at the stars’ true identity on the current series.
He said: “I feel like Jonathan went up a notch and gave less ridiculous names and actually zoned in on the clues and he was really surprised everyone this year.
“He delivered. I think Jonathan was like the funniest he’s ever been on the show and I thought he gave the best answers for the people on the show and we all love working with him.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith says ‘The Teacher’ makes for “incredibly uncomfortable viewing”.
The 40-year-old actress portrays the titular role of teacher Jenna Garve in Channel 5’s four-part psychological thriller about a schoolteacher accused of sleeping with a student, but she has no memory of the alleged incident as she was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
And Sheridan, who has recently won wide praise for her starring role in another hard-hitting drama, ITV’s ‘No Return’, has admitted it will be a tough watch as viewers will struggle to decide whether they like her character or not.
Sheridan told RadioTimes.com of her character: “I think she is a bit naïve. She’s on a mission to save working-class kids because that’s where her mum comes from, and she really hates the fact that privileged kids can get further in life.
“She tries to be a mate to her students, which is her undoing in the end. There are teacher-student boundaries and she has maybe let that slip.
“And then of course her life outside of the classroom is chaotic. I really hope people don’t know what to think about her. There were scenes where I was thinking, ‘This is so terrible, you’d be fired immediately’.”
She added: “Her actions didn’t sit right with me, but I enjoyed playing them as well. It will make incredibly uncomfortable viewing and you won’t know if you like her or not.”
Ackley Bridge’s Samuel Bottomley plays the role of the 15-year-old pupil, Kyle.
The star-studded cast also includes Kelvin Fletcher, Cecilia Noble and Sharon Rooney.
‘The Teacher’ begins on Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday, 31 January, and continues at the same time over four nights.

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Murray thinks the BBC would water down an ‘Only Fools And Horses’ reboot.
The 65-year-old actor – who played Mickey Pearce in the classic sitcom – has agreed with former co-star Sir David Jason that it’d be great to revive the show in some way, but he’s not sure it would work in the current climate.
He told The Sun newspaper: “It would be lovely to do another one but I do worry we would be constrained because we can’t take the mickey out of each other.
“Rodney was a plonker, but nowadays people would find calling each other ‘plonkers’ offensive.
“The woke thing has got a bit ridiculous. People with nothing better to do will write in saying they’ve been insulted.”
Patrick also suggested the comedy’s most famous scene would be banned nowadays because Del Boy (Jason) and Trigger (Roger Lloyd-Pack) were shown “on the pull”.
He added: “I don’t think the BBC even like to show the Del Boy falling through the bar scene now, despite it being voted the best sitcom moment ever, as it depicts two men on the pull.
“If ‘Fools and Horses’ is out of order, we’re in trouble.
“But I would definitely be up for it if everyone else was on board and we are allowed to be funny. As long as they paid me upfront!”
His comments come after David called for a screenwriter to work on a new script to allow him to reprise his own iconic role.
He said: “I’ve always loved Del Boy, who is such a wonderful loser. I would love to revisit him, I need someone to write me a script.”
In February last year, late ‘Only Fools’ star John Challis – who played car dealer Boycie in the show – revealed creator John Sullivan planned to make another episode that would have seen Del Boy celebrate his retirement in the Nag’s Head, but the writer died before he could pen the ep.
John – who passed away in September aged 79 – said: “The 30th anniversary was coming up and John was in the process of getting together a Christmas special or something.
“It was going to be Del Boy’s 65th birthday, he was going to retire and there was going to be a bit of a get-together in the Nag’s Head. But unfortunately he (John) got ill and didn’t come out of it.”
The first ‘Only Fools’ episode, ‘Big Brother’, aired in September 1981, and the show went on to run for seven series and numerous specials until the final episode in 2003.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough was in pain after a cactus spine pierced through his protective glove.
The 95-year-old naturalist was filming his latest BBC series ‘The Green Planet’ when he investigated a cholla cactus and – despite wearing protective gear – he found himself caught by the plant, and he admitted the experience was “not pleasant at all”.
In a clip from the BBC One series, he said: “I wouldn’t dream of putting my hand anywhere near it without proper protection. Brush against it, and this can happen – ow!
“This can happen, even with this glove on. One of them has just gone through, I can feel it. It’s quite painful! This is not pleasant at all. It won’t come off.”
Opening up on the plant after shooting on location, he explained that the “dense spines” are like “spicules of glass”.
He said; “It has these very dense spines in rosettes, so they point in all directions. And if you just brush against it, the spines are like spicules of glass.
“I mean they are that sharp and they go into you and you really have trouble getting them out! So that is a really dangerous plant. The cholla is an active aggressor.”
“The Green Planet’ – which has been in production for more than four years and filmed in more than 27 countries – uses new filmmaking technology to get a close-up look into the hidden world of plants.
The TV veteran enjoyed filming in locations ranging from Croatia and northern Europe to Costa Rica and the United States.
Executive producer Michael Gunton previously said: “One of the joys of going on location is thinking up horrible things to get David to do. Because it was so dangerous, we got a Kevlar under-glove, and then on top of that, a welding glove.
“That protection is about as good as you could possibly get. So David bravely put his hand inside this cholla cactus, as requested. And half-way through it, these spikes still managed to get through those two bits of protection.”

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ icebreaker act suffered a bloody injury during the auditions.
The ITV talent show returned to the London Palladium this week for the first round of auditions, but judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden were left stunned after the scary incident which caused “the audience to gasp”.
Icebreaker JD Anderson – who previously appeared on the US version of the show – was smashing ice on his head when the act took a worrying turn.
One viewer told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “You expect weird acts but this guy was smashing ice on his head. Amanda was visibly wincing each time the blocks of ice got bigger but Simon appeared to be loving it.
“It ended with JD running into a giant block of ice and smashing it up, causing the audience to gasp. It soon became clear he was in pain and blood could be seen coming out of his head.
“Medics obviously had to intervene, making sure that he was OK and hadn’t given himself a concussion. It looked like it hurt but there was no lasting harm done.”
Meanwhile, David has been at the centre of his own ‘BGT’ drama after getting in trouble with TV bosses – and Simon himself – over his “outrageous behaviour”, which included stripping down to his underwear and tweaking Cowell’s nipples.
However, the final straw apparently saw him asking a contestant if his talent was getting his manhood out.
Simon told his co-star to “apologise now” before sending him off stage, adding: “Get out, get out. This is supposed to be a family show.”
An insider said: “Because BGT has been off our screens for some time, David is like a schoolboy in his first week back in class after the summer holidays.
“He can’t resist showing off in front of the crowd, which people expect from the funnyman. But sometimes he can take things too far, and that’s just what’s happened this week.
“Simon obviously loves his outrageous behaviour and the fact they take the mickey out of one another, but even he seemed unimpressed with his latest joke.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gloria Hunniford says elderly viewers love ‘Loose Women’ for the candid sex talk.
The 81-year-old presenter – who has appeared on the ITV daytime talk show since 2015 – has revealed older fans like to tune to listen to topics which were deemed too taboo during their younger years.
She’s quoted by the Daily Star’s Hot TV column as saying: “I met this lovely woman in Dublin who was in her 90s and she whispered ‘I love Loose Women because you talk about sex and we were never allowed to.’
“I told her, ‘You’re right, if my mother knew I was talking about sex on live TV, she would turn in her grave.’ ”
Meanwhile, Gloria – whose TV career has included stints on shows like ‘Rip Off Britain’, ‘This Morning’ and ‘The One Show’ – previously revealed she has no plans to retire.
She previously said: “Retiring is not even at the bottom of the agenda. I do understand women wanting to retire if they have a boring or difficult job, but I love it.
“I have worked since I was seven and I’ve always had a strong work ethic. I think I inherited it from my parents growing up in Northern Ireland.”
Gloria was a guest panellist in 2003 before later becoming a presenter, and she admitted she learns “’something new every day” she’s on set.
She explained: “Every day I see different things and meet a huge variety of people. I feel like I learn something new every day. I am very fortunate.
“I love being on ‘Loose Women’. I love all the girls and the differences in our ages and opinions. That’s the strength of the programme.”
The star – who recently appeared on ITV’s ‘The Masked Singer’ – has also revealed her secret to staying so motivated in the older years was keeping busy and good health.
Gloria added: “What’s my secret? I love to keep busy. I enjoy pretty good health, too, and that is everything as you get older.
“Yes, of course, I’d rather be 50. Who wouldn’t? But I don’t dwell on it and I don’t feel or act the age I am. I’m lucky that I’ve always had lots of natural energy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr’s estranged husband Paul Drayton has been freed two days into his 14-week prison sentence.
On Wednesday (26.01.22), the 50 year old – who is battling alcoholism – was jailed for drunkenly driving into a police car with an alcohol test reading “off the scale”.
His lawyer John Dye appealed the sentence, with Direct Judge Amanda Kelly telling him that the correct procedure was to appeal the case to crown court.
Drayton was refused bail, but on Friday (28.01.22) he was freed.
The news comes two days after appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to a single count of driving a motor vehicle above the legal alcohol limit.
The court heard how police had received a phone call from worried members of the public on October 9, 2021, when they witnessed an intoxicated Drayton driving in Broadbridge Heath, West Sussex, England, shortly before 3pm.
Prosecutor Suzanne Soros said police officers tracked him down and witnessed his vehicle “swerving from side to side” and decided to pull him over, suspecting he had been drinking.
A compliant Drayton complied with the officers’ request, but then proceeded to “reverse into the police vehicle”, Ms Soros told the court, leading to other cop cars boxing him in so he could drive off.
His breath test returned a reading of 153 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath which is four times the legal limit in the UK.
John Dye, defending Drayton, told the court that the events of that day were the result of a “perfect storm in his life”, which included his alcoholism spiralling out of control, mental health issues, physical health issues and the breakdown of his marriage to TV comedian Carr, 45,
The judge acknowledged Drayton’s addiction issues and efforts to get sober in rehab when sentencing him, but had insisted she had no choice but to give him jail time, stating “you were gambling with the lives of others”.
She said: “You were dicing with death when you got behind the wheel in that state.
“Not only were you gambling with your own life but you were gambling with the lives of others.”
As well as the overturned prison sentence, Drayton was banned from driving for three years.
This month, Carr announced his separation from Drayton.
The ‘Chatty Man’ host made the “difficult decision” to part ways with Paul after 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: “After 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage, Alan Carr and Paul Drayton would like to announce they are separating.” They have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go their separate ways. We request that their privacy is respected at this sensitive time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith’s new drama ‘No Return’ will air on ITV next month.
The 40-year-old actress will star alongside Michael Jibson as parents Kathy and Martin in the four-part series focused on a life-changing family trip to Turkey.
The broadcaster has confirmed the first episode will premiere on February 7 at 9pm.
In the drama, the family’s hopes of a relaxing holiday take a turn as the couple’s teenage son Noah gets arrested, with the parents left battling for their boy’s freedom.
Sheridan recently opened up on the intense drama and admitted there was “lots of crying” on set.
She said: “There was a lot of angst during filming. Lots of crying, lots of screaming, lots of constant tension.”
The star thinks people will be able to relate to the show and its characters, as she found herself tapping into her own feelings for the role.
She explained: “What happens to this family is so unexpected. They go off on holiday to Turkey, which they have been really looking forward to, and it turns into a disaster when their son Noah is arrested.
“I’m sure people will think about what they would do if that was their child…
“When I read the script, and then when I was playing the role, I was thinking, ‘My god, if this was my son Billy, I can’t imagine how I would feel.’ ”
Despite the “harrowing” experience on set, Sheridan is hoping viewers will be hooked and desperate to find out how the story unfolds.
She added: “It was harrowing to film. I’ve done lots of different roles but this is just like a hell ride – you don’t really come up for air until the end… I hope viewers will be gripped to see what happens next.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kirstie Allsopp plans to “get a facelift” before she turns 55.
The TV star – who celebrated her 50th birthday in August last year – admitted while she’s “been very lucky” with aging so far, she is already thinking about “evasive action”.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column: “So far I’ve been very lucky, really: I made it to 50 and my face hasn’t collapsed.
“But I reckon I’ve only got about another five years or so. I know it’s only a matter of time before I have to think about evasive action.”
Paraphrasing Dylan Thomas’ poem ‘Do not go gentle into that good night’, she quipped: “I will not go gently into the dark night; I will rage against the dying of the light and I will get a facelift.”
She also teased celebrities who claim say “getting older is brilliant”, and insisted the reality is very different.
She added: “I always marvel at those who say: ‘Getting older is brilliant. I’ve never felt better.’
“Sorry, but getting older means more aches and pains; it means you have to work harder to keep your weight down; it means your hairdresser has to use more dye every time you go to see her.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Location, Location, Location’ presenter – whose father is Charles Allsopp, the former Christie’s chariman and sixth Lord Hindlip – hit back at the suggestion she owes her career to her dad.
She said: “What drives me potty is when people assume I’ve only managed to get where I am because my dad’s a baron. Same as everybody else, I’ve had to work bloody hard — nothing to do with my dad.
“Yes, I have famous friends, but I’ve also spent two decades talking to ordinary working-class and middle-class people in every county.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Murray didn’t tell John Challis about his cancer diagnosis.
The 65-year-old actor – who revealed his cancer diagnosis on Tuesday (25.01.22) after finding out himself last summer – admitted that he kept it from his former ‘Only Fools And Horses’ co-star as he didn’t want to burden him knowing his friend was having serious health problems of his own.
John – who played Terrance ‘Boycie’ Boyce in the cockney comedy – died of cancer on September 19th 2021. He was 79.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I knew he had serious problems and didn’t want to lay it on him that I had it too. The last thing he said to me was, ‘I’m eating watermelon’ because they help thin the blood naturally, which he needed to do. Bless him, he was a great man.”
Patrick – who played Mikey Pearce in the BBC sitcom – revealed he was lucky to be alive after medics discovered a tumour on his liver in August, and they feared he would not make it past Christmas.
He discovered he had cancer after visiting his GP over growing concerns of his bloated stomach which left him feeling pregnant from the extra weight.
After patiently waiting months for an appointment due to the pandemic, and basic urine and stool samples coming up clear, he was finally booked in for an ultrasound.
He added: “The very next morning, I got the phone call nobody wants to hear when the doctor says, ‘Are you sitting down?’ The first primary diagnosis was actually a lot worse than what it was.
“It showed up a lot of red flags that I had a tumour on my liver and three metastatics – which is cancer of the blood. I was told it looks like I wouldn’t make Christmas.”
However, he later received some “fantastic news”, while also having the tumour removed.
He said: “I got fantastic news that they weren’t metastatics — they were hemolytics, which are usually harmless. But the PET scan did show there was a tumour in my lung so I had that removed in October.
“They caught it early and right now I’m on chemo to make sure it doesn’t come back. If I left it a couple of months later, I could have been in real trouble. I probably wouldn’t be here now.”
