OHMYGOSSIP — Paula Wilcox still gets “very flattering” comments from taxi drivers about her appearance in ‘Man About the House’.
The 72-year-old actress starred on the ITV sitcom more than 40 years ago, and she still gets compliments about her on-screen appearance during her younger years.
Paula – who has played the part of Elaine Jones on ‘Coronation Street’ since 2020 – said: “I definitely still get recognised from ‘Man About the House’.
“I get taxi drivers saying they used to be in love with me, and I say, ‘What do you mean, used to be?'”
The actress starred on ‘Man About the House’ between 1973 and 1976.
Paula loves that she’s still recognised for her part on the show.
She told Woman’s Weekly magazine: “It’s very flattering after all this time. It was a lovely programme and it’s nice to be recognised for something that was dear to people’s hearts.”
The popular sitcom featured a man sharing a London flat with two single women.
The show ran for six seasons and was considered to be daring at the time.
Paula said: “It’s difficult to believe it nowadays, but it was quite cheeky for its time. Two young girls sharing a flat with a man was quite titillating and both the girls could be flirty.
“There was something for everybody and lots of generations watched it.”
Paula first appeared on the cobbles in 1969, as Ray Langton’s sister Janice.
And after she made her ‘Coronation Street’ return in 2020, the actress observed that while a lot has changed, much of the soap is still familiar.
She said: “It’s so different and yet so much the same. There are lots of really good actors, but we’re at MediaCityUK now in this brand-new studio.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby held a piece of the moon as a special birthday treat on ‘This Morning’ today.
The TV presenter is 41 today (10.02.22) and the show and her co-host Phillip Schofield – who returned to the programme yesterday (09.02.22) following his coronavirus isolation period – pulled out all the stops for the star’s big day.
Holly was allowed to hold a piece of the moon thanks to The Space Centre in Leicester, and she said: “I can’t believe it … thank you. Look! I have the moon in my hand. That’s amazing.
“It almost has like a green rainbow in there.
“I can’t think of a more incredible gift. That was really special.”
Holly and Phil also made a special cocktail to celebrate her 41st birthday.
A mixologist from Brown’s in Mayfair explained how to make ‘The Willoughby’, which featured all her favourite ingredients including tequila, fresh lemon, champagne and rhubarb cordial.
Phillip laughed: “During isolation, I got a phone call to ask what are your favourite things!”
Holly replied: “I’m definitely better at drinking them than making them … but that is so nice, thank you.”
As the pair reunited on yesterday’s show, Phillip told Holly she could “lick his face”.
He said: “You realise I am now fully anti-bodied up – you could now lick my face!”
Holly laughed and said she “actually could”, although she was worried about any backlash from viewers during the pandemic.
She quipped: “I know! I actually could! I’d be scared somebody might come in and pull us apart or something. I mean, you’re now…”
Phil added: “I’m bullet proof for 90 days – allegedly.”
Holly has also recently had some time off from the show after spending three weeks in Italy filming ‘Wim Hof’s Superstar Survival’ with Lee Mack.

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly-Mae Hague has penned an autobiography – and has vowed to take “oversharing to a whole new extreme”.
The 22-year-old reality star has put pen to paper on her life story in new book ‘Becoming Molly-Mae’, achieving a “massive dream” of hers.
Speaking on her Instagram Stories, she said: “I have been keeping a huge project a little secret from you guys for well over a year now, and today is finally the day that I can actually speak about what it is …
“So I have written my very own book. This is ‘Becoming Molly-Mae’, my first ever book.
“It is literally my baby, we have honestly put so many months of work into this book, you have no idea, and it’s been such a journey and such an adventure.
“Venturing into this whole new world of writing a book is something that I’ve always wanted to do. It’s been a massive dream of mine.”
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who appeared on the fifth series of the hit ITV2 dating show in 2019 – has also promised fans she will reveal things in the book that she has, as of yet, only told “close family members and friends”.
She said: “You guys obviously know that I’m a massive oversharer, but in this book I take oversharing to a whole new extreme.
“I’ve spoken about things in this book that I have only told close family members and friends.
“You really do get the full BTS, the whole behind-the-scenes of my whole journey.”
Last month, the star admitted she doesn’t think she owes her success to ‘Love Island’.
She said: “There was a side of me that thought, I can actually do this without going on this show.
“I know I’ll be fine either way. My following was growing rapidly.
“I think I was about 170,000 followers at that point and that was all organic growth.
“There was no TV shows or anything. I’d say now if I hadn’t gone on the show I’d like to say I’d still be hitting a million followers because I had that really good work ethic with my Instagram.”
But the entrepreneur – who is dating boxer Tommy Fury, after they met on the show – did credit ‘Love Island’ for being a platform that has helped to “elevate” her.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ was among the big winners at the Broadcast Awards.
Jeremy Clarkson scooped the Best Popular Factual Programme prize for his Amazon Prime Video show – which tells the story of his life on his Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire – at the ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, on Thursday night (10.02.22).
The 61-year-old star shared a video on Instagram of the moment the award was announced, and he wrote in the caption: “We won a thing”
Other big winners on the night included Channel 4 show ‘It’s A Sin’ – which starred Olly Alexander, Keeley Hawes and Lydia West – as the programme scooped the Best Drama Series or Serial accolade.
Long-running medical drama ‘Casualty’ beat off competition from the soaps to be named Best Soap/Continuing Drama at the awards.
But Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway missed out on an award for her doc ‘Finding Derek’ – which tells the story of her husband Derek Draper’s battle with COVID and his ongoing battle with the after-effects – after being nominated in both the Best Lockdown Programme and Best Documentary Programme categories.
‘Surviving Covid’ won Best Lockdown Programme on the night, and ‘Finding Jack Charlton’ triumphed in the Best Documentary Programme category.
Despite not winning a gong, Kate admitted on this morning’s (11.02.22) ‘GMB’ that she and co-star Charlotte Hawkins had enjoyed a “late night” at the bash.
Other winners on the night included ITV Racing’s 2021 Grand National coverage, which won Best Sports Programme.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark was admitted to hospital this week.
The ‘Supermarket Sweep’ host took to Instagram to update fans on how he is after he was forced to miss his BBC Radio 2 show last weekend, revealing he is now “slowly on the mend”, but he will still be off the airwaves this weekend.
He said: “Finally home after an extended trip to Costa del hospital. Slowly on the mend. Won’t be on the wireless tomorrow. Resting up. Be back soon.”
The 33-year-old TV presenter didn’t elaborate on what had caused him to be hospitalised, but last Friday (04.02.22) the star revealed he had been bedridden for “a couple of days” with flu.
He wrote: “Gone and got the flu (not surprised) been in bed for a couple of days. Have lat tested and not Covid thankfully but won’t be able to go on the wireless tomorrow. Be back soon x (sic)”
Rylan recently admitted he doesn’t like to complain in restaurants because he “worries” what the public thinks of him.
He said: “I am not a complainer. I get embarrassed if I complain. If I go to a restaurant and it’s s*** I say, ‘Let’s just pay it and go.’
“I think that’s because of my job. I’m so worried, so if I say, ‘This is disgusting,’ they’ll say, ‘That Rylan was an a*******.’ ”
The former ‘X Factor’ star – who last year split from his husband Dan Neal, who he married in 2015 – also recently admitted he struggled after the breakdown of his marriage.
He said: “I got ill and I lost weight, I went down to under 10 stone – and I’m six feet four inches, so that’s not good. The honest truth is that it’s been s***.
“I didn’t deal with what happened and now I am. I felt unwell and it was a very difficult time for me.
“My mum was majorly worried about me, as were all my family. I don’t just disappear for four months – that doesn’t just happen.
“Mum has been a lifesaver to me and one of my biggest regrets of this year was putting my mum through me not being well.
“I needed to get back to me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadiya Hussain was “saved” by her little brother Shaq while enduring horrendous bullying as a child.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner – who is one of five siblings – was driven to suicidal thoughts after being tormented by cruel bullies, who used to shove her head down the toilet, at primary school, but she stopped herself from doing anything catastrophic when she found out she was about to be a big sister.
Speaking to host Kate Garraway on ITV’s ‘Life Stories’, the 37-year-old TV star said: “I had five or six pills and I thought ‘I need more water’. So I went downstairs and my dad had an announcement. He said, ‘Your mum’s having a baby.’
“So I thought ‘OK, well I’ll just do this once I’ve met the baby’. I promised myself I had to meet him first, my brother Shaq.”
Nadiya – who has three children with her husband Abdal; Musa, 14, Dawud, 13, and Maryam, 10 – is still affected by the bullying, as she gets flashbacks when she goes to the toilet.
She said: “Before I knew it, my head was in the loo and they were flushing it repeatedly and holding me down.
“All I remember is loo water in my nose and in my eyes and in my ears. Even to this day, when I go to the loo, that image comes into my head.”
The ‘Nadiya’s Family Favourites’ star – who has previously spoken about having panic disorder – admitted she was “struggling” to such an extent that she would “not drink water” because she was frightened of going to the toilet.
She said: “It got to a point when I was really struggling with it when I would deliberately not drink water because I didn’t want to use the loo.”
During their heart-to-heart, Kate asked Nadiya if she had anything to say to them.
She said: “Do you think those boys had any idea what they done to you? What would you say to them?”
Nadiya quipped: “If they’re watching – in your face!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Lydia Chambers is to mount a campaign to snare her old flame Adam Barlow this Valentine’s Day in Weatherfield.
The soap schemer – played by Rebecca Ryan – will set about trying to ruin Adam (Sam Robertson) and Sarah Barlow’s (Tina O’Brien) relationship for good, after cobbles fans were recently left shocked to find out Lydia is her ex Adam’s mystery tormentor.
Lydia’s dangerous obsession will escalate to new heights in the coming weeks, which will leave Sarah unable to know who to trust as Lydia seeks revenge on her former boyfriend.
What’s more, there is more potential Valentine’s Day gloom in Weatherfield this year as the Barlows attempt to put a stop to Amy Barlow’s (Elle Mulvaney) blossoming romance with Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan).
Amy’s dad Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) will see red and punch Jacob after his daughter collapses in a club, as the cabbie believes drug dealer Jacob is at fault.
Elsewhere on the cobbles, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) agrees to give his and Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) relationship another go.
Last month, Rob admitted he was hoping Daniel would end up with Daisy.
He said: “I think he should be with Daisy because there’s a lot for both of them to get out of that relationship, whether it’s long term or not I think it will be good for both of them.
“He does like Lydia, it just happened very quickly from a Christmas fling and I think in a way he was using Lydia to show he’d moved on from Daisy and has this new relationship but it just doesn’t have the same pull for him.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tanisha Gorey wants Liam Neeson to star in ‘Coronation Street’ and “take down a killer”.
The ‘Corrie’ actress – who plays Asha Alahan in the ITV soap – is keen for the ‘Taken’ actor to swap Hollywood for Weatherfield, as she believes his experience of appearing in “dark, suspenseful films” would be invaluable for a new life on the cobbles.
She said: “It’s a bit of a weird one, but I’d bring in Liam Neeson. He’s been in a lot of dark, suspenseful films – and I’d love for him to take down a ‘Corrie’ killer.”
The 19-year-old star would also love it if Liam delivered some “cheesy American lines” on the soap.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “Also, it’d be great if he could crack out some cheesy American lines, too. Imagine Liam Neeson meeting Dev.”
In June, Tanisha admitted she would love to become the next Ken Barlow.
The actress joined the programme when she was just six years old, and she’s now determined to follow in the footsteps of Bill Roache, who has starred in the show since it first aired in 1960.
She said: “I will only leave when they kick me out, 100 per cent. There’s nothing to not love, I love going to work.
“Honestly, I didn’t call it work until about two years ago. I genuinely didn’t see it as a job whatsoever. It was just something I felt so privileged to be doing.”
Tanisha also admitted she didn’t start watching the soap until she was 15.
She said: “Up until I was about 15, I separated work from my normal life. But that’s when I started watching it and really getting into it.
“When I was 16 I then moved up to the adult green room so obviously I felt like I needed to talk to people and congratulate people on what they’re doing, I don’t want to say well done for playing such and such a part without actually watching it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ken Dodd’s widow has sold the rights to his jokes to a West End producer.
Lady Anne Dodd – who spent 40 years with the comic but only married him two days before his death at the age of 90 in 2018 – gave away her husband’s life work for an undisclosed sum to Michael Harrison.
Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, the legendary one-liner comic’s widow explained she was “thrilled and delighted” that the ‘Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat’ producer was taking “Ken’s story to the stage.”
Anne said: “It will be a tattyfilarious celebration of laughter and happiness.”
Michael – who also has worked on ‘Oklahoma!’ and ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ – realised that the ‘An Audience With…” funnyman was “in a class of his own” after his grandfather took him to see him perform in the flesh as a child and is looking forward to immortalising Ken on stage.
He said: “I saw him on TV, but it was seeing him live that made you realise he was a comic artist in a class of his own.”
Michael outlined that the sale entails “everything written down, filmed and recorded… even witticism scribbled down on scraps of paper” and is now focusing on finding the right actor to take the top billing.
He said: “The key is going to be: ‘How do you cast a genius?’ But that worry can be attended to once the show is written.”
To kick off the creative process, Michael intends to hire a playwright, who he would take to talk with Lady Anne, explore Knotty Ash in Liverpool – where Ken was born and raised – and then write a show, a process expected to take “two or three years”.
Recently, Lady Anne shared how Ken was “a romantic person” as she opened up about their correspondence in the early days of the pair’s relationship during the 1970s.
She said: “He was a romantic person. I got wonderful cards. He used to leave messages around for me to find. He was a bit of a tease as well. He got a rubber spider once and put it on the back of my shoulder because I hate spiders. But most of the time at home he was quite serious. Comedy is serious work.”
