OHMYGOSSIP — Rochelle Humes was frightened to take her daughter to nursery after she received death threats.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter bore the brunt of a vile social media backlash after it was unveiled she would host a documentary, ‘The Black Maternity Scandal: Dispatches’, about Black women dying in childbirth.
But Rochelle says another presenter, who she says was “a darker-skinned black woman”, claimed on social media that she had been asked to front the same show, which led to some online users reacting angrily against Rochelle.
While appearing on Steven Bartlett’s podcast ‘The Diary of a CEO’, the 32-year-old former pop star said: “I didn’t want to make it about me. I didn’t want to make it about the fact that actually I was scared to take my kid to nursery that day because I got death threats.”
Rochelle – who is mum to eight-year-old Alaia-Mai, four-year-old Valentina and 16-month-old Blake – revealed her husband Marvin Humes insisted on removing her phone from her to ensure she couldn’t read the hurtful messages.
She continued: “Marvin did take my phone off me though, I love my phone at the weekend, he was like, ‘That’s going off’ and he literally texted everybody that works with me and was like, ‘If you need her I’m here but no more phone.’ ”
The former Saturdays member admitted she “literally cried for 48 hours” after the backlash.
Rochelle said: “I turned everything off, I turned off comments and then I was like I’m not dealing with this, I’m just going to live my life and I literally cried for 48 hours and was devastated.”
The former S Club Juniors star explained how the situation escalated.
She said: “I announced that I was filming it and did a call out to say this is what we’re filming and it sparked a real conversation.
“People didn’t know those stats and I think that was for me really important that we get that on a big stage.
“Then overnight the dial turned. There was a post that was posted on Instagram from another woman who is an author and a presenter that had said that she had been asked to front the same show.
“I’d woken up to and seen this post and was mortified, she was a darker-skinned black woman, the first thing I did was DM her ‘this is my number, I don’t know what s*** has gone down here but this is my number, give me a call’.
“To this day I’ve not heard from her … then that sort of triggered this whole conversation of the fact that I’d taken a darker-skinned woman’s bread and the dial switched overnight and I was beside myself, devastated.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James Lock, Chloe Veitch and Dale Mahmet are going on dates with fans this Valentine’s Day.
On February 14, the ‘TOWIE’, ‘Too Hot To Handle’ and ‘Love Island’ stars will be at selected Frankie & Benny’s restaurants for a special ‘Valentine’s Baes’ service as they make sure solo diners aren’t spending the romantic evening all alone.
Punters visiting the restaurant in London (Chloe), Birmingham (James) or Glasgow (Dale) will get to enjoy a meal with the reality stars.
In a statement, James said: “I reckon there’s a lot of people wanting to go out on Valentine’s Day but not bothering because they’re on their own.
“Hopefully now they might do. I’m good company, easy to talk to and will have a chat with anyone so hopefully I’ll be able to have a bit of a laugh with a few people in Birmingham.
“One of my first dates was actually at Frankie & Benny’s in Essex, so this will bring back some fun memories.”
Chloe suggested singles should also be able to enjoy the big day.
She added: “Why should it just be couples that get to enjoy Valentine’s Day? What about all of us singles? There’s a lot of us out there, I should know!
“I love the idea of this ‘Take A-Bae’ service and giving a bit of love to those who might be solo on the big day.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting some new people at Frankie & Benny’s on Valentine’s Day and who knows – maybe someone will sweep me off my feet?”
And Dale said: “It’ll be good to grab a bite with people on Valentine’s Day.
“I didn’t have the best of luck finding love on the island so maybe I’ll have a little more luck at Frankie & Benny’s on Monday!”
The ‘Valentine’s Baes’ will be in participating Frankie & Benny’s restaurants from 5pm on Monday, February 14.

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield looks set to return to ‘This Morning’ tomorrow after he tested negative for coronavirus.
The 59-year-old TV presenter is expected to be back on the ITV daytime show’s sofa on Wednesday (09.02.22) – after missing a number of ‘This Morning’ shows last week as well as ‘Dancing on Ice’ on Sunday (06.02.22), after he tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
After receiving his second negative lateral flow test result today (08.02.22), Phillip shared on Instagram: “It’s official!!! 2 days negative and I’m free!! (sic)”
Before the happy news, he showcased the treats the team had sent him – including a puzzle version of an official snap of Alison Hammond, who has stepped in for him on the show this week, and Dermot O’Leary on the programme’s famous sofa.
Phillip wrote: “Thanks for my bag of shizzle @thismorning @hollywilloughby @alisonhammond55 (sic)”
He was also sent a Thai Green curry via taxi after it was cooked on the show by Clodagh McKenna.
Sharing a snap of the meal, he wrote: “Oh how I love the team”
Alison – who usually assumes hosting duties on the show on Fridays alongside Dermot – stepped in at the last minute to cover him this week.
Phillip’s co-host Holly Willoughby wrote on social media: “Morning Tuesday… back with the quite frankly flipping brilliant @alisonhammond55 today… see you on @thismorning at 10am (sic)”
‘Catchphrase’ host Stephen Mulhern stepped in for Phil on ‘Dancing on Ice’ last weekend.
While on-air, the 44-year-old presenter said: “I know Phil is watching. Phil, I’m having fun.”
Phil joked: “Not too much fun Mulhern … I know where you live.”

The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who plays Bethany Platt on the ITV soap – shared a sweet snap of her newborn nephew to her 520,000 Instagram followers.
The 26-year-old actress revealed the little baby’s name – Ezra Theodore Baugh – as she celebrated his arrival into the world.
Lucy wrote: “Can’t believe I officially have 4 nephews! Welcome to the clan lil Ezzie boo [pink heart emoji] my sisters are the best. (sic)”
Lucy received a star-studded wave of congratulations in the comments section.
Pop star Fleur East said: “welcome child,” along with a series of heart eye emojis.
Lucy’s former ‘Corrie’ co-star Sally Carman gushed about her affection for the little one’s moniker, writing: “LOVE that name! What a scrump.”

While there are no signs of babies on the cards for Lucy, she has recently confirmed that things are still going well with her Preston North End footballer boyfriend, Ryan Ledson, 24.
The pair began dating in early 2021 and have completed a whole host of relationship milestones, such as moving in together and a birthday trip for Lucy for her 26th.
Last autumn, she shared a cute snap of them loved-up at a pumpkin patch, writing in the caption: “The most wholesome pumpkin pickers you ever did see.”
In December, Lucy insisted she was the “happiest” she has “ever been”.
Lucy penned: “I was in such a festive mood so I was going to ignore this but to keep the festivity alive, I’m not.”

The 39-year-old actress – who already has one daughter with husband Christian Contreras – revealed that she is pregnant by holding her bump through a wide flowing dress designed by CIMONE as she arrived on the red carpet at the 2022 Brit Awards with Mastercard.
Creative Director Carli Pearson explained in an Instagram post: “The beautiful #jodiewhittaker in our custom-made beanbag ball dress for #thebritawards2022 @britawardsinc – the dress is all made from end-of-life materials and was created specifically to incorporate her pregnancy, while allowing Jodie to retain her sense of self.”
The creative director went on to explain that they have worked with the ‘Doctor Who’ star before and explained that the company wanted to create something “special” for Jodie.
She continued: “We’ve worked with Jodie before and love the energy she brings to our piece For this occasion, we wanted to make something both structured and yet playful – and this is the result!

OHMYGOSSIP — Philip Olivier would return to ‘Brookside’ in a “heartbeat”.
The 41-year-old actor has described playing Timothy “Tinhead” O’Leary on the Liverpool-based soap – which ran on Channel 4 between from 1982 to 2003 – as the “best years” of his life as he praised the show’s creator Sir Philip Redmond.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “They were the best years of my life. If it wasn’t for Sir Phil Redmond, if it wasn’t for ‘Brookside’, I wouldn’t have had the career I’ve carved for myself.
“In a heartbeat I would go back.”
The ‘Hearts and Minds’ star praised the series for being “always ahead of the game” and labelled it “such an honour” to be part of Phil’s life, while referencing his work creating the likes of ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Grange Hill’.
He said: “What Phil has done – not just ‘Brookside’, ‘Grange Hill’, ‘Hollyoaks’ – all the jobs he has created in Liverpool.
“People really don’t know the mastermind that is Phil Redmond and it’s such an honour to be a part of that guy’s life.”
Philip added that ‘Brookside’ – which featured the first pre-watershed kiss between two women and the first openly gay character on a British TV show – holds “a special place” in his heart.
He added: “If he were to ask me back in ‘Brookside’, of course I would do it. It holds a special place in my heart.”
And the actor revealed locals still call him “Tinhead” – a role he first played aged 15 – when he’s out and about in Liverpool.
He said: “When I’m going around the city and around the world, people are still calling me Tinhead. When I started when I was 15, I never would have thought I’d be 42 and people still call me Tinhead.”
Sir Phil recently teased there could be plans for a ‘Brookside’ return.
Speaking at the launch of a ‘Grange Hill’ film, he said: “I’ve also got all the old ‘Brookie’ crew and the ‘Hollyoaks’ gang saying they would love to be in it so who knows, if we’re going to do ‘Grange Hill’ this year, perhaps we’ll go to ‘Brookie’ next and ‘Hollyoaks’ the year after that – who knows?”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Peaky Blinders’ bosses are looking to launch themed pubs inspired by the show.
Caryn Mandabach Productions – the company behind the hit BBC One period drama, which stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby – is reportedly keen to develop an array of businesses, including pubs and barber shops, for fans to visit in real life.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz Column: “’Peaky Blinders’ is huge these days. It’s a global smash. So it’s no surprise the makers want to try and cash in on that when they can.
“There are a couple of unofficial pubs out there already which the makers want to bring to heel.”
The idea of hospitality venues based on fictional properties is something other franchises have jumped on, and it’s said the team behind the show – which is set to return this month for its sixth season – have already filed the relevant papers with the Intellectual Property Office, which would also let them produce cosmetics, clothes, jewellery, food and drink, as well as barber shops, pubs, restaurants and bars.
The insider added: “The ‘Coyote Ugly’ film [about a gang of bar workers, released in 2000] spawned bars all over the world and Caryn knows ‘Peaky Blinders’ could have that same appeal.”
Meanwhile, there is potential for a spin-off Hollywood movie after the show’s executive producer Caryn Mandabach and creator Steven Knight revealed they are interested.
And Cillian has revealed he is “open” to reprising his role on the big screen, as he recently said: “I’m open to ideas. I think he [Steven Knight] wants to, but I haven’t read anything.”
He also admitted he was “sad” that they had to work on the sixth season without Helen McCrory, who died in April 2021 after a battle with cancer.
He added: “What I always feel sad about is that we were about to shoot and then the pandemic happened and we had to stop. If we had shot then, Helen would’ve been in the show, and that makes me feel sad.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach was “so anxious” being back on ‘Coronation Street’ after her break.
The 20-year-old star’s character Faye Windass was jailed for assault last year, which meant the actress – who first appeared on the cobbles in 2011 – had six months away from the set.
Reflecting on her return, she told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I was so anxious I couldn’t sleep the night before.
“I arrived in the car park and I had to ring Colson Smith [who plays Craig Tinker]. I said to him, ‘I don’t think I can come in; you might have to come and get me.’
“He told me not to be daft, but I struggled to get out of the car. I was so nervous.”
Ellie admitted she still gets star struck when she meets legendary co-stars like Ken Barlow actor Bill Roache.
She added: “I’ve been there 11 years and when I see Bill I’ll say hi to him, but then I’m like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Bill!’
“I don’t think those nerves will ever go away. The older cast members are such icons and I can’t believe I’m in the same room as them.
“I was the same with Malcolm Hebden [Norris Cole].”
The soap star admitted she was always “so shy” as a child, and her mother Karen introduced her to acting as a way of making her more confident.
She said: “When I was younger, I was so shy I would literally never talk to anyone. My mum says I was like her shadow – I’d hide behind her the whole time and wouldn’t engage with anyone.
“She wanted to help build my confidence, so when I was about four, she put me into drama class.”
Last year, her character Faye confessed to assaulting Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) after mistaking him for Ray Crosby (Mark Frost), and while her alter ego was jailed, Ellie insisted she wouldn’t be leaving Weatherfield for good anytime soon.
Back in January 2021, she said: “I’m not going anywhere for the time being.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Penelope Wilton wants to keep working with Ricky Gervais.
The ‘After Life’ actress – who played Anne, a widow Tony Johnson talks to at the local graveyard – doesn’t think the Netflix series will return for a fourth season, but she hopes to find a different project they can work on together.
She told the Daily Express newspaper: “He is a charming man to work for, I really enjoyed it. I’m sorry it has come to an end.
“He has an old-fashioned courtesy as a director and he has a difficult job because he is everything – writer, director, actor. He is an extremely clever man.
“I’m very lucky to have met him. I hope to work with him again. I’m not sure we’ll be doing any more ‘After Life’ but there might be something else he finds for me.”
Ricky was a fan of Penelope, having named her character Anne after her role in 1980s sitcom ‘Ever Decreasing Circles’, while he even cast her former co-star Peter Egan as her love interest Paul.
She added: “Ricky was a great fan of that series and I think the reason he cast me was his homage to it.
“He called me Anne and peter Egan’s character has been called Paul, like in the show.
“I think secretly he hoped Anne and Paul would dash off together and leave [Richard Briers’] character Martin by himself, putting the telephone receiver round the right way and organising all those different societies he was keen on.”
Meanwhile, although they hadn’t met before he approached her about ‘After Life’, Penelope was “a great admirer” of his work.
She said: “I thought those scenes seemed very authentic. I didn’t know Ricky, I’d never met him, but I was a great admirer of ‘The Office’ and I’d seen a couple of his one-man shows on the television.
“I thought he was a very clever writer and I thought the whole series had something to say but was extremely funny too – and outrageous to say the least.”
