Ant and Dec: I’m A Celebrity plan is to return to Australia

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ bosses are planning to return to Australia for this year’s series.
Show co-hosts Ant and Dec have revealed there are plans in place to head back Down Under, after the past two series of the popular ITV show took place in Wales’ Gwrych Castle instead of the Australian jungle, due to the coronavirus pandemic and international travel restrictions.
Speaking on Thursday’s (17.02.22) episode of ‘The One Show’, Dec said: “Well, the plan is the jungle.”
Ant then said: “Nothing against Wales. We love Wales, but Australia is [the show’s] home and we’d like to get back there if we can.”
Previously in December last year, the duo spoke about wanting to go back to Australia, and joked they can “torment” the campmates more Down Under.
Ant said: “I think we would like to return to Australia. We had a great time for two years in Wales – we were made to feel really welcome and at home – but its proper home is Australia, so we’d like to get back there for next year if we can.”
Dec added: “We can torment them more in Australia.
“It’s harder conditions outside and there are all sorts of creepy crawlies in the camp, so it’s harder in Australia, definitely.”
It comes after Storm Arwen battered Wales late last year, resulting in the campmates having to be evacuated from the castle and forcing ‘I’m A Celebrity’ off air mid-series, before it later returned to our screens after the winds had died down.
Ant said at the time: “The only reason they took the celebrities out of there was we felt it was just mean keeping them in there when we can’t film them, we can’t do anything with them.
“So, it was decided to take them out of the castle and put them into their single quarantine, like they had before they went into the show.
“So they’ve got no phones, no internet, they are completely cut off from the rest of the world. Just how we like it.”

Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan opens up about past cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ actor Jack James Ryan has opened up about his battle with testicular cancer.
Jack, 24 – who recently made a comeback to the cobbles as Jacob Hay – showed support to his former co-star Victoria Ekanoye, who played Angie Appleton in the ITV soap, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Jack offered his sympathy having been diagnosed with cancer back in 2017, and he went on to make a full recovery from the disease.
Victoria responded to a fan podcast tweet praising ‘Corrie’ bosses for bringing Jack back for another stint on the soap, writing: “Hear hear.”
Her tweet caught Jack’s attention, who applauded her bravery for speaking out about her cancer battle.
He replied: “Thanks so much Victoria, I think you’re class. Been so inspired by you opening up about your cancer journey and I’m sending you all the love and positive vibes. Had my own run in with it a few years back. You’ve got this. Big love! (sic)”
Victoria responded: “Thanks JJ. I won’t lie, it’s one hell of a slog, but my family and friends, all the messages of support…feels like I have my own little army. I had no idea you battled the big C…what a warrior. And now you’re smashing it on our beloved @itvcorrie Much love and respect x (sic)”
Jack previously spoke about his experience in 2020.
He said: “My brother and mum started crying and I was just kind of in the middle as if time had stopped. It was weird, really weird, as though time had stopped. And then I always had this feeling that, ‘This isn’t going to be the thing that kills me,’ I don’t know why I was so confident.
“I also suffered and probably still do, my self esteem was quite low. I went through surgery, so many things began playing on my mind.”

Danniella Westbrook up for a new soap role

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook is setting her sights on joining another soap.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star was recently “shocked” to find out her character Sam Mitchell is to be reprised by Kim Medcalf, but the star has now admitted she “wouldn’t have” gone back to the BBC One soap anyway because she is going through “a lot of operations at the moment”.
Ex-‘Hollyoaks’ star Danniella told OK! Online: “I’m happy they’re bringing the character back. I’m glad they’re bringing it in a different direction because Kim is a different sound to me.
“Obviously I’m going through a lot of operations at the moment so I wouldn’t have gone back anyway.
“My sights are set on other soaps, let’s leave it there. Maybe do another soap opera…”
The 48-year-old actress played the fiery blonde throughout the 90s but was replaced by Kim from 2002 to 2005, before Danniella took on the role again in 2009 and 2016.
Earlier this month, Danniella warned ‘EastEnders’ bosses there could have been “very serious consequences” as a result of not telling her they had re-cast Sam.
The star – who has battled drug addiction since she was a teenager – insisted producers had a “responsibility” to tell her the news personally and suggested it could have triggered a relapse if she wasn’t in such a good place now.
She said: “I’ve been known as Sam Mitchell for 32 years. But nobody at ‘EastEnders’ contacted me to let me know they had recast Kim in the role. There wasn’t even an email to my agent. I was shocked because they do have a responsibility to tell me and someone should have.
“The bosses have seen me go through addiction and they have no idea where I am today.
“Thankfully I’m OK. But if I hadn’t been it could have had very serious consequences for me.”
Danniella previously threatened to take legal action against the BBC over the re-cast.
Posting on Twitter, she wrote: “Wishing Kim the best of luck at @BBCEastenders_ yet again this poor woman has to recreate a Samantha Mitchell as close to my last two recent come backs on the square go smash it darling..x oh but not to @bbceastenders my legal team will be in touch.(sic)”

Martin Compston tells all about ‘awkward’ sex scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Compston doesn’t look forward to filming “awkward” sex scenes.
The actor – who plays DI Steve Arnott in BBC crime drama ‘Line of Duty’ – is gearing up for his next stint, which will see him star in ITV thriller ‘Our House’, adapted from Louise Candlish’s novel of the same name.
Martin will swap the police station for the bedroom as he portrays ladies’ man Bram Lawson, who cheats on his wife Fiona, who is played by ‘Downton Abbey’ star Tuppence Middleton.
Speaking about sex scenes in the upcoming show, he told The Sun newspaper: “Look, they’re always awkward. I mean, you’re getting your kit off and doing that kind of thing in front of a room full of people.
“It’s never something you look forward to. But at the same time you’ve got to commit to it. You want to make it real. So it’s awkward.
“But you really need to go for it once you’re in the moment. There used to be an old attitude which I suppose is of its time which was, ‘Oh, just get on with it — just do it.’
“But you kind of need to be aware of everybody’s boundaries, what everybody is comfortable with.”
The 37-year-old actor admitted it is “a lot easier” to shoot steamy scenes when there is an intimacy coach on the set.
He added: “Somebody now has a job to come in, and actually a responsibility to talk everybody through it.
“In some ways, it’s kind of like a stunt. You have a fight co-ordinator — that’s what it is.
“Usually it’s you worrying about where you put your hand, or what you do. But somebody talks you both through everything, then it makes it a lot easier. But it’s still awkward, don’t get me wrong.”

John Whaite ‘sad’ about end of Strictly journey

OHMYGOSSIP — John Whaite is “sad” that his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ experience is over.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner and his pro dancer partner Johannes Radebe finished in second pace on the BBC Latin and ballroom show last year, and the pair went on to dance together on the programme’s tour.
But the run has now come to an end, and John has thanked fans for checking to see if he is “OK”.
The 32-year-old star wrote in an Instagram post: “A lot of you lovely people are asking if I’m ok now that strictly has ended. Thank you.”
But the star admitted he will go through “a little bit of bereavement” that his ‘Strictly’ journey has finished.
He added: “I promise I’m fine. Naturally, I’m sad that it’s over because for the past 6 months I’ve had so much fabulous fun, so there was always going to be a little bit of bereavement – as when anything so spectacular comes to an end – but I feel very lucky to have been able to take part in it. We made some beautiful memories that I’ll cherish forever, but we move on and we have to dust ourselves off and get on with real life. (sic)”
It comes after John tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month, meaning he had to miss some shows due to his isolation period.
In a video shared on his Instagram Stories, he said at the time: “A lateral flow this morning has come back positive so I now have to sit here in this glamorous captivity until a result of a PCR come back – and I’m hoping they come back negative because I feel fine.
“I’m triple jabbed, I had coronavirus in summer, so I’m hoping it’s just
a false positive.
“But that does mean of course that I won’t be able to perform today or tonight in Glasgow, so I am very, very, very, very, very sorry if anyone was hoping to see me shaking my thing on the dance floor today because I
just won’t be there shaking it.
“I’ll be in my hotel room, probably still shaking it, but that isn’t something I wish the world could see because it isn’t pretty, darling.
“When you’re not in sparkles and sequins, it ain’t pretty. The real me – vile.
“Anyway, I’m sorry I can’t be there. I hope you enjoy the show nonetheless, and good luck to all my friends who are in the show today. I’m sorry I’m letting you all down.”

Tom Holland was given freedom in Nathan Drake portrayal

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland had “free rein” to create his own version of Nathan Drake in ‘Uncharted’.
The Spider-Man actor plays the thief in the new movie based on the hit video game series of the same name and was grateful to put his own spin on the character and differ from Nolan North’s portrayal in the games.
Tom told ComicBook.com: “When we were developing this character and this film, we were kind of trying to figure out how I would play him.
“And there was a discussion at one point where they wanted me to just mimic Nolan North, and I started doing a little bit of work into it and I think we all came to the conclusion that we need to make this film unique.”
The 25-year-old star said he wanted to “pay respects to the games” while also putting a fresh take on both the character and story.
Tom shared: “It needed to have something new about it. So, they then gave me free rein to kind of go away and develop this character in my own way.”
The movie serves as a prequel to the video game series and Tom believes the younger version of Drake is more “trustworthy” than when he becomes an experienced treasure hunter.
He said: “Obviously, the differences are that he’s younger.
“I think one of the traits he has is he’s very trustworthy, which ultimately is something that he definitely shouldn’t be in that world of treasure hunting.
“He’s not very trustworthy in the games. But no, there a lot of similarities but lots of differences.”
Tom recently revealed that he nearly lost his teeth as a result of wearing Drake’s metal charm during fight scenes on the film.
He said: “We had to get a rubber one made because during the fight scenes it kept whacking me in the teeth.
“Honestly it really hurt. I had to say to the props master, ‘Can you make me a rubber one?’ I’d turn around and punch someone and it would bounce up and crack me right in the teeth. I’m lucky I’ve got teeth.”

Dame Helen Mirren thinks that The Duke is a fitting finale for Roger Michell

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren believes that ‘The Duke’ is a fitting final film for Roger Michell.
The 76-year-old actress plays Dorothy Bunton in the art caper – which was the final movie made by the ‘Notting Hill’ director before his death last September – and feels that it is an appropriate finale to his directing career.
Helen told The Guardian newspaper: “This is his last film. And it’s a wonderful film to be his last because it carries within it all his strengths as a filmmaker. His brilliant technique. His warmth as a person. His wonderful understanding of life and humanity.
“And we all recognised that as we were making it. We all knew that we were in Roger’s film.”
The 1960s set movie also stars Jim Broadbent as Kempton Bunton – a man who stashed Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington at his home in Newcastle as part of a scheme to secure free TV licences for pensioners in Britain – and the star admits that the director’s passing adds poignancy to the film.
Jim, 72, said: “This is the last chance to celebrate what a brilliant director Roger was, and what a wonderful person he was. That makes me want to promote the film more than I would normally want to promote a film.
“I want to put it out there and remember what we did. I want to tell people about it. To tell them about him.”
‘The Duke’ was filmed over two years ago but is only being released next week due to the coronavirus pandemic and co-writer Clive Coleman believes the meaning behind the movie has shifted over the course of the global health crisis.
He said: “The film doesn’t change. What’s changed is the emphasis of the message and how that is read by the public.
“Because when we started shooting, the idea that Kempton speaks to in the film – that a society is only as strong as its weakest link – might have seemed a bit abstract.
“We couldn’t know that we were moving into two years of Covid, death and insecurity, where our society would be judged on a daily basis by how well it protects its oldest and most vulnerable. So that journey is fascinating. It somehow makes the film feel more trenchant.”

Tom Holland’s work ethic praised

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Uncharted’ director Ruben Fleischer has praised Tom Holland’s work ethic.
The 25-year-old actor had to work on reshoots for ‘Uncharted’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ simultaneously but Fleischer insisted Tom was “relentless in his commitment” to both projects.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “There was overlap between the two, but the credit goes to Tom Holland, who’s relentless in his commitment to the things he’s a part of. Whether it’s Spidey or us, he would never compromise. He wanted ‘Uncharted’ to be great, and he gave everything he possibly could to the movie. It was he who [insisted on] making sure that ‘Uncharted’ be the best it possibly could be.”
Ruben also insisted he didn’t encourage Tom to bulk up for the movie, after the young actor admitted he felt inadequate next to co-star Mark Wahlberg.
He said: “I read the same thing that you did, so that was kind of news to me. He showed up looking so fit, and it was cool because you don’t think of Peter Parker that way. I think it was all a part of his process of wanting Nathan Drake to be his own character, distinct from Peter Parker and what Tom had been associated with prior to this movie. So whether it was wanting to match Mark or just simply create a different silhouette for his character from the one that you’re used to seeing, it was all part of his process in wanting to make Nathan Drake really distinctive.”

Dame Judi Dench always fears she won’t get hired again

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Judi Dench gets “frightened” when she finishes an acting job.
The 87-year-old actress admitted it is always a relief when she’s cast in a new project because, despite her legendary reputation, she always worried no one will want to hire her again.
She told Reader’s Digest magazine: “I’ve always thought, ‘One is very lucky to be employed.’
“I always get frightened at the end of the job because I think I’m not going to be employed again and then feel very relieved at the beginning of the next one.”
Despite her decades of success, Judi admitted she still feels nervous when she lands a new job.
She exclaimed: “I’ll say! I get more anxious now.
“Oh yes, much more anxious.
“There’s more things to consider and more things to find out and more things to learn about. And you think, ‘Oh God, have I got the energy to do this?’ “
When it comes to looking for new roles, the ‘Belfast’ star is always on the hunt for something different to anything she’s done before.
She said: “I just, really, always hope that I will be asked to do something different.
“And perhaps not expected. Or something that has no reference to anything I’ve done before.”
In ‘Belfast’, Judi has worked with director Sir Kenneth Branagh for the 12th time and she always loves their collaborations.
She said: “I just love working with him. I just love it.
“It’s very varied, all the things I’ve done with Ken. And I’ve directed him and been directed by him and been in things with him. It’s always different.”

‘Expect the unexpected’ for Peaky Blinders’ final season

OHMYGOSSIP — Fans can expect “lots of twists and turns” in the final season of ‘Peaky Blinders’.
Cillian Murphy, 45, will reprise his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby in the highly-anticipated sixth and final season of the show and creator Steven Knight has teased that anything could happen.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast, he said: “Expect the unexpected. It’s about Tommy’s redemption, will he or won’t he be redeemed? There’s lots of twists and turns and he’s up against some very, very powerful enemies. But his biggest enemy is himself.”
Knight also spoke about continuing on with the show after Helen McCrory – who played Aunt Polly – died last April.
He said: “The loss of the character is massively secondary but we felt we had to carry on.
“In terms of the character, although Polly is gone, her strength and influence and energy remains throughout the series.”
Meanwhile, Cillian previously admitted he hopes the new season will “live up to the memory” of his late co-star Helen.
Helen died following a secret battle with cancer, and she was unable to film any scenes as Aunt Polly for the upcoming sixth series of the drama.
But Cillian insisted her character’s presence is still “very much felt”.
He said: “I think the whole series is really in tribute to her and to honour her. Her presence and her character’s presence are very much still felt in the series, and it is very much part of Tommy’s journey in the season.
“It’ll be different without her, you know. It simply won’t be the same. I’ve spoken about how phenomenal she was as an actress and as a person and it is an enormous loss to the whole acting community and not just for our show.
“My thoughts are always with Damian [Lewis] and her kids. I just hope that the show will live up to her memory and our memory of her.”

Eamonn Holmes blasts ITV and Phillip Schofield

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes has blasted ITV and Phillip Schofield.
The 62-year-old presenter claims he was “dropped” by ITV but they tried to make it look as if he had quit for GB News, where he now hosts the breakfast show with Isabel Webster.
He told The Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine: “No one explained anything to me.
“I’m all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going.
“They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.
“They had a chat with my agent and announced that I was going to GB News when they’d done no more than ask if I’d be interested in joining them.
“I’m not going to have myself derided as some sort of has-been. I may be male and pale but I’m still at the top of my game.”
Eamonn – who previously co-hosted ITV’s Friday edition of ‘This Morning’ with his wife Ruth Langsford and covered for Schofield and Holly Willoughby during their absences – also hit out at Phillip for interrupting Ruth on air back in 2019.
He said: “Phillip is renowned for snubbing people. He’s very passive-aggressive. It’s up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her. No one would have snubbed me like that.
“I have a good Belfast street fighter in me… I would be direct. I don’t go for presenters who think they have a special privilege or aura or influence.”

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man toilet breaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland’s mother called ‘Spider-Man’ producers to insist her son got enough toilet breaks.
The 25-year-old actor revealed his mother Nikki Holland once phoned the studio on his behalf, because she was worried about his costume not having a zipper for him to use the toilet easily.
Speaking on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, Tom said: “On the first movie, I remember we were shooting this sequence on the stack on the Washington Monument, and I was in the suit for days at a time, sort of 11 hours [a day] and I was young, and wanted to impress the studio, and didn’t want them to think I needed [bathroom] breaks.
“I remember calling my mom up on our daily phone calls, and I was like, ‘Mom, I’m really struggling, I’m working every day, and because I wear the suit, I can’t go to the bathroom,’. And then two days later the producer came up to me and was like, ‘How are your kidneys?'”
Tom explained that he was puzzled and after telling the producer his kidneys were fine, he questioned why he had been asked about them.
The producer then replied: “Well, your mom called us… Yeah, so my mom called up the biggest studio in the world and was like, ‘Give my son more toilet breaks!'”
Tom also used his appearance on the show to shut down reports that he and girlfriend Zendaya have bought a house together in London.
He said: “I’ve had so many people call me up, because apparently, I bought a new house in South London? Which is completely false! I didn’t buy a new house. I’m like, ‘Wow, what a surprise, I wonder when I’ll get the keys.'”

Johannes Radebe offers to partner Andrew Garfield on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Johannes Radebe has offered to partner with Andrew Garfield on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Andrew, 38, is currently nominated for an Oscar for his role in ‘Tick, Tick… Boom!’ and if he wins, Radebe has offered to partner the ‘Strictly’ super-fan on the dance show.
During an interview with chat show host Graham Norton, Andrew was asked if he has ever been approached to take part.
He said: “It’s hard to confess this… I would love to do ‘Strictly’. I would absolutely love it – It’s on the bucket list.”
Johannes told him: “Well thank you, I’ll do it!”
And Andrew replied: “It would be so much… If I win the Oscar, then I’ll come and do it. How’s that?”
Meanwhile, Andrew revealed in 2019 that his “favourite new past time” is to watch ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and admitted he was “overly invested” in the 16th series of the BBC ballroom contest, where he cheered for Stacey Dooley and her professional partner Kevin Clifton, as they took home the coveted glitterball trophy.
Speaking about his love for the series on ‘The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky’ on Virgin Radio, he told the host: “This is the reason I wanted to come and talk to you this morning, I heard you were maybe going to be on it and I think it’s a match made in heaven. On my sabbatical, one of the many things I’ve done and maybe the most important thing I’ve done on my sabbatical, is I’ve realised how important ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is, not only for the British public but for me as an individual.
“It’s my favourite new past time to sit and get overly invested in whether Stacey Dooley would win or not. I hoped she would win and I was very happy to see it. When I heard you were going to do it, I thought you have to give the people what they want and that is what every person in this country wants!”

The 28-year-old reality TV star and her husband Alex Bowen, 30, are expecting their first child together but Olivia admitted that her mental health struggles have surfaced again due to her hormones.
She told OK!: “My anxiety comes and goes. I think it’s hard because you do get the hormones, and you’re trying to work out what’s real and what’s not.
“It’s just about keeping it under control. Make sure that you’re [speaking about it], and I always do lots of lists and notes, and things like that to help me sort of fight that anxiety. But yeah, you do have really heightened emotions. You just have to ride the wave.”
However, Olivia – who has a history of depression – went on to praise the NHS for how they have treated her.
She said: ““When I went to my first midwife appointment, I made it really clear that I suffer with anxiety and that I have had a history of depression, and they were so helpful.
“They referred me to a mental health midwife and they just did everything possible to make me feel at ease.
“I’m really proud of our NHS for that. It was really nice.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Khadija Kalifa has a crush on Lord Sugar.
The 28-year-old TV personality – who previously starred on ‘The Apprentice’ – has admitted to being gutted that the businessman is already married, because she thinks there’s “something about him”.
During an appearance on the ‘Get Gossy with Grossy’ show, Khadija confessed: “I feel like he’s got something about him.”
However, she subsequently laughed off the idea because he’s a married man.
The entrepreneur also admitted to being envious of her friend Sian Gabbidon – who has a line of loungewear on ASOS – as she gets to talk to the 74-year-old businessman on a “weekly basis”.
Khadija said: “I was out with ‘Apprentice’ winner Sian on Saturday and she talks to Lord Sugar on a weekly basis. I am like, I want to talk to him every week.”
Khadija knows that Lord Sugar is already “double busy”. But, she still quipped: “I want to be friends.”
Asked if she’d taken a shine to Lord Sugar, Khadija replied: “No, I think it’s more of an admiration.”
Khadija was also asked if she was “fangirling” over the ‘Apprentice’ star.
In response, Khadija said: “I admire people that are kind and I admire people that hustle and I admire people that don’t envy the world for their misfortune.”
The TV star explained how she related to Lord Sugar’s rise.
Khadija grew up on a council estate and she’s been working hard since her childhood.
She said: “I grew up, my mum was a single mum, we lived in a council house. And I have had that hustle since I was 12 years old.”

Sir Tony Robinson wants to revive Maid Marian

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Tony Robinson is hoping to revive ‘Maid Marian and Her Merry Men’.
The 75-year-old actor created and wrote the BBC series – which ran for four seasons, between 1989 and 1994 – and he’s currently in talks to bring it back.
He told the Metro newspaper: “We’re still in meetings about reviving ‘Maid Marian and her Merry Men’ and I’ve got myself an acting agent for the first time in ages.”
Tony – who played the Sheriff of Nottingham in the series – previously admitted he was keen to revive the concept.
However, he also urged fans to show some patience, admitting it would take some time to get the production “off the ground”.
He said: “I’m talking to a London producer at the moment about the possibility to be a ‘Maid Marian’ show.
“These things take an awfully long time to get off the ground. ‘Hamilton’ took five years to get off the ground.”
The actor – who played Baldrick in the ‘Blackadder’ series – said he was “fairly optimistic” that the show would make a long-awaited return.
However, he also cautioned that it could take as long as five or six years.
Speaking about his plans for the show, Tony admitted: “You want these things to move much faster than they do but I’m fairly optimistic that we’ll see a ‘Maid Marian’ show within the next five to six years.”
Despite the long absence from TV screens, Tony revealed he still gets positive feedback from fans of the show.
He shared: “I do have to say, I’ve been on Twitter now for about three months, and both there and when I’m doing my live stuff, people are still really interested in ‘Maid Marian’.”
