Tahar Rahim joins Napoleon

OHMYGOSSIP — Tahar Rahim has joined the cast of ‘Napoleon’.
The 40-year-old star will feature in Ridley Scott’s upcoming historical epic that is currently in production.
The movie will be an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift and ruthless rise to becoming French Emperor.
Joaquin Phoenix will play Napoleon with Vanessa Kirby starring as his wife Josephine, with the flick chronicling the pair’s addictive and often volatile relationship.
Rahim will play Paul Barras – the powerful Commissioner of the Revolutionary Army.
Ridley is producing the Apple TV+ project through his Scott Free Productions banner alongside Mark Huffam and Kevin Walsh. The movie expands the production company’s partnership with Apple – which has a first-look deal for television projects with Apple TV+.
Tahar’s previous movie credits include ‘The Mauritanian’ and he also portrayed the serial killer Charles Sobhraj in the TV series ‘The Serpent’.
Jodie Comer had been due to star as Josephine but was forced to drop out of the movie because of a scheduling conflict with her theatre debut on London’s West End, ‘Prima Facie’.
The ‘Killing Eve’ actress said: “Unfortunately, due to Covid and changes of schedule, I don’t think I can make it work right now due to a scheduling conflict.”
Meanwhile, Tahar previously suggested that he was “honoured” to collaborate with Jodie Foster on ‘The Mauritanian’ but was often shy around her on the set.
The French actor said: “It was great and such an honour to work with her. She is the coolest, the nicest, and what a great actress.
“But of course, I was a bit intimidated by her. I was too shy to tell her how much I love her films. I didn’t want to bother her by telling her I am a fan.”

John Cena cast in Coyote vs. Acme

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cena is to star in ‘Coyote vs. Acme’.
The 44-year-old actor has boarded the cast of the Warner Bros. live-action/animated hybrid movie.
Dave Green is directing the project with the script penned by Samy Burch based on the Looney Tunes characters and the New Yorker magazine article ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ by Ian Frazier.
The film follows Wile E. Coyote, who after ACME products fail him constantly in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a lawyer to sue the corporation.
The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer against the ACME company’s intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes the pair’s determination to win.
James Gunn and Chris DeFaria are producing the movie, which is slated for release in July 2023.
Cena worked with James on the HBO Max series ‘Peacemaker’ after first playing the role in the 2021 superhero movie ‘The Suicide Squad’ and the show’s producer Peter Safran claims that James felt that the WWE star had the potential to “go deeper” as an actor.
He said: “I knew that James wanted to tell that story and that he wanted to really go deep with John on that character.
“And when you watch the series, you realise that his dad was every bit as bad as Bloodsport’s was – and in some ways, much worse. That was just a tiny little Easter egg in there, and it all gets unpacked in the series.
“I think he felt with John there was a real untapped acting resource there, and that people will be very surprised to see how deep John can go.
“We knew that he could go there, and there’s a real pleasure in bringing that to a wider audience.”

Kate Garraway: I’d rather fake nudes of me online than real thing

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway would be “quite glad” if there are fake nudes of her online.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ co-host has joked if there are bogus naked pictures of her doing the rounds on the internet then she wouldn’t be too bothered, because they are “probably a lot better than the real thing”.
Speaking on tonight’s (17.02.22) ‘Life Stories’ – on which she will interview singer Charlotte Church – she says: “I wonder if there are any fake nudes of me?
“I’d be quite glad because it’s probably a lot better than the real thing.”
As well as being the new host of ‘Life Stories’ – after taking over from Piers Morgan – Kate also co-presents on ‘GMB’, Smooth Radio, and cares for her husband Derek Draper, who is still dealing with the after-effects of coronavirus two years after contracting the virus.
Kate recently admitted she and Derek – who still requires 24/7 care at home – have found a “new way to be in love”.
The TV presenter – who shares children Darcey, 15 and Billy, 12, with Derek – said: “I’m not sure that we’ve ever fallen out of love, but I think a new path is emerging, a new way to be in love.
“He puts huge trust in me. He just says: ‘Whatever you think.’ Which is wonderful, but I do get quite tearful about it. I think: ‘God, I hope I’m worthy of that trust.’ But I’ve got his back. That is a relationship in itself, isn’t it? How many times do couples have doubts about each other? That’s a positive thing to come out of this, to have that certainty of each other. He and I are very close.
“I don’t think things will ever be the same again, because I don’t think we as a family and he as a human being could go through something like that and not be impacted by it. Months in a coma and then this. It’s going to change him, even if it’s only emotionally. We’ve all been through so much. I’m not the same.”

Andrew Garfield: I’ll do Strictly if I win an Oscar

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Garfield will sign up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ if he wins an Oscar this year.
The 38-year-old star has been nominated in the Best Actor category for movie ‘tick, tick…BOOM!’ ahead of the upcoming Academy Awards next month, and the actor joked he will be up for a stint on the Latin and ballroom show if he triumphs at the star-studded ceremony.
When asked on Friday night’s (18.02.22) ‘The Graham Norton Show’ if he would do a stage musical, he says: “I would love to, but you need to be a thoroughbred. I have the deepest respect for those performers.
“I hate to confess it, but I would absolutely love to do ‘Strictly’. It’s on the bucket list.”
Andrew – who is up against Javier Bardem, Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Smith and Denzel Washington for the Best Actor accolade – then jokes: “If I win the Oscar I will come back and do it.”
In 2019, the star admitted his “favourite new past time” was to watch ‘Strictly’, and he was rooting for Stacey Dooley and her professional partner Kevin Clifton to take home the coveted Glitterball Trophy in 2018.
Speaking about his love for the series on ‘The Chris Evans Breakfast Show’ on Virgin Radio, he told the host: “This is the reason I wanted to come and talk to you this morning, I heard you were maybe going to be on it and I think it’s a match made in heaven.
“On my sabbatical, one of the many things I’ve done and maybe the most important thing I’ve done on my sabbatical, is I’ve realised how important ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is, not only for the British public but for me as an individual.
“It’s my favourite new past time to sit and get overly invested in whether Stacey Dooley would win or not.
“I hoped she would win and I was very happy to see it. When I heard you were going to do it, I thought you have to give the people what they want and that is what every person in this country wants!”

ITV’s The Bay renewed for a 4th series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Bay’ will return for a fourth series.
The ITV police detective show, created by Daragh Carville and Richard Clark, aired its season finale on Wednesday (16.02.22), but the programme will take viewers back to the seaside town of Morecambe for another instalment in the future.
ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill said in a statement: “I’m delighted that we will be returning to Morecambe for another series of ‘The Bay’. Marsha Thomason delivered a brilliant performance as DS Jenn Townsend, and it will be exciting to see where Daragh takes her character in series four.
“Thanks to everyone at Tall Story Pictures for creating and continuing to deliver such a distinctive series.”
The show’s executive producer was “delighted” to bring the series – which began in 2019 with actress Morven Christie playing the lead character, DC Lisa Armstrong – back for another round.
Tall Story Pictures’ Catherine Oldfield said: “We are delighted at how ‘The Bay’ audiences have taken to new FLO, DS Jenn Townsend, played by the brilliant Marsha Thomason and how Jenn’s arrival and her personal storyline has breathed new energy into the show.
“Together with Daragh (Carville) and all our amazing cast and crew, we can’t wait to get going on the new series.”
‘Lost’ star Marsha relocated her family – husband Craig Sykes and their eight-year-old daughter Tallulah – from Los Angeles to shoot the third season, and she had a “great time” filming the show, despite the on-set pandemic restrictions.
She previously said: “I had such a good time shooting it. We were shooting it through COVID, which obviously makes everything so difficult. And yet we still managed, with our masks, to have a great time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelle Bryan “always” drinks lemon water to help prevent ulcer breakouts.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist – who has autoimmune disease lupus – swears by adding a slice of fresh lemon to her water, because if she doesn’t have it for four days her skin “changes”.
The 46-year-old star told The Sun newspaper: “Whether I am on set or not, I always have lemon water, as it means I don’t get any breakouts.
“If I don’t have it for four days, I guarantee, my skin will change. So I don’t take the risk.”
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress has to “work hard” to manage her “painful” condition.
Kelle said: “My skin has been something I really had to work hard at because having lupus, I used to have ulcerated skin everywhere — even in my mouth. And it was really painful.
“So when I was recovering from that, I started adding lemon into my water and noticed a difference.
“It has taken years to get to where I am now, where I can quite confidently walk around and feel happy in my skin.”
Kelle finds it “so liberating” to not have to hide her breakouts any more.
She said: “It’s so liberating not having to cover up or wear hats, or put my hair over my face. That’s what I used to do so people wouldn’t look at it. It’s a horrible feeling. Now it’s as smooth as a baby’s bum! I fully appreciate that.”
Kelle – who has 10-year-old son Regan and eight-year-old daughter Kayori with her husband, Jay Gudgeon – was diagnosed with lupus in 1998, and admits it was a “painful” time, but she developed a plan to manage her symptoms.

Joe Cole: Getting the glasses right for Ipcress File remake was ‘massive’

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Cole says getting the glasses right for ‘The Ipcress File’ remake was a “massive” part of getting into character.
The former ‘Peaky Blinders’ star initially wanted to wear the exact same frames that Harry Palmer – played by movie legend Sir Michael Caine – wore in the 1965 original spy film, but they “did not work”, so he tested out numerous pairs of specs in luxury eyewear shop Cutler and Gross to find the right pair for the upcoming ITV drama.
The 33-year-old actor said: “The glasses were massive in getting into character.
“I remember going into Cutler and Gross in Knightsbridge. I tried on every pair in the shop and there was only pair that worked.”
The ‘Black Mirror’ star’s choice was confirmed by the ITV remake’s costume designer, Keith Madden.
Joe said: “As soon as I put them on, I said, ‘These are the ones.’ Then our costume designer Keith Madden turned up and he said, ‘Yeah, they’re the ones.’ ”
Despite being unable to wear the veteran actor’s spectacles, Joe felt the new pair “worked” as they embodied the spirit of them.
He is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “The ones we used still have the very hard black, strong frames and they just worked. For me, as soon as I put them on it was job done.”
This was not the only costume struggle the team dealt with in the new adaption, as they had to get that iconic 60s look over Zoom tailoring sessions.
The series – which also features Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander – begins in March.
ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill recently said: “I’m thrilled to be bringing John Hodge’s brilliant adaptation of such an iconic novel to ITV.
“Harry Palmer is an incredible part and this would have been impossible without the right actor, so we are all delighted that Joe Cole will take on the role.
“The talent on and off-screen means this will be a treat for audiences when it comes to ITV.”

Ryan Reynolds compares The Adam Project to E.T.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds has likened ‘The Adam Project’ to ‘E.T’.
The 45-year-old actor stars in the upcoming film as Adam Reed, a man who uses time travel to reunite with a younger version of himself in order to confront his late father and solve a mystery, and suggests that it has been inspired by classic 1980s movies such as ‘E.T.’ and ‘Back to the Future’.
Speaking at a screening of the Netflix movie on Tuesday (15.02.22), Ryan told Variety: “It felt like one of those big wish fulfilment movies with huge stakes and high concept, but it was really about something very personal as well, which is sort of what I loved about movies in the 80s – what I loved about ‘E.T’ and ‘Back to the Future’, and anything that (Steven Spielberg’s) Amblin did.
“It just felt like it sort of harkened back to the kind of filmmaking and in the period we live in right now, it felt timely.”
The movie sees a reunion between Ryan and director Shawn Levy after they collaborated on the hit film ‘Free Guy’ and he explained how the pair wanted to tell another new story.
The ‘Red Notice’ star said: “That was a totally original idea that worked theatrically. For us that felt incredible. And we love IP, and we love superhero movies. We love all that stuff. But this was a special experience, and we really wanted to keep that train marching along.”
Rumours have suggested that Ryan’s Deadpool appears in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ but the star dismissed the speculation.
He said: “I’m really not in the movie. I’m promising, I’m not in the movie.”
Reynolds added that a third ‘Deadpool’ film is progressing.
He stated: “It’s coming along.”

David Permut leads Frank Pesce tributes

OHMYGOSSIP — David Permut has led the tributes to Frank Pesce following his death at the age of 75.
The actor- who had roles in ‘Top Gun’ and the first two ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movies – passed away on February 6 due to dementia complications and has been fondly remembered by the Hollywood producer.
David produced the 1991 movie ’29th Street’, which is based on Frank’s own early life story as a lottery winner in New York City. Frank wrote the story and starred as his real-life older brother Vito in the flick, which was directed by George Gallo.
Permut said of the late actor: “To say Frank was one of a kind would be a gross understatement. We shared our love and passion for film. He claimed to see more movies than Leonard Maltin and Roger Ebert combined.”
Frank’s circle of friends included stars such as Sylvester Stallone, Tony Danza and Robert Forster. He first appeared on screen in 1976 as a guest star on ‘Police Story’ and also had credits in ‘Kojak’, ‘Knight Rider’ and ‘The Greatest American Hero’.
Pesce also had parts in the Stallone films ‘Rocky’ and ‘Paradise Alley’, as well as the hit movie ‘Flashdance’.
In a statement to Variety, Frank’s girlfriend Tammy Scher said: “I met Frank at a very low point in my life. He always said he saved me and he was right. I’d never met anyone like him.
“Frank was a force larger than life or any fictional character, always entertaining, intriguing and fascinating. Unafraid to approach anyone and immediately make an acquaintance. Celebrities flocked to be near him as he had an encyclopedia of knowledge about music and movies.”
Frank will be buried in New York on Friday (18.02.22) and he is survived by Tammy, Vito, his nieces Vanessa Pesce and Danielle Pesce and his sister-in-law Catherine Pesce.

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Adams and Ella Baig are expecting their first child together.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star took to Instagram to announce the happy news, and admitted she and her blogger partner Ella are overjoyed about their baby news.
In a joint statement, the pair wrote: “We’re so excited to announce that our family is expanding
After what feels like a lifetime, we can finally say we’re going to be parents!
We’re so excited to share this magical journey with you all, the ups, the downs everything in between
Welcome to the world little one (sic)”
Nicola made history on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2020 when she formed the first same-sex pairing on the BBC show alongside pro dancer Katya Jones.
And Katya took to Instagram to congratulate the couple on their baby news.
She wrote: “I am beyond excited and happy for you!!!!!!! What a beautiful news!!!!!!!!! You gonna be such amazing parents!!! (sic)”
Olympic boxer Nicola, 39, and Ella, 23, both replied: “thank you”
The pair previously went through two unsuccessful rounds of IVF, and Ella suffered a miscarriage.
In February last year, Nicola admitted she and Ella were keen to have children.
She said: “Ella will probably carry the baby. She’s more nurturing than me.”
Despite their 16-year age gap, Nicola insisted it isn’t something the couple really think about.
She said: “I thought it might bother us but we don’t notice it. It might have something to do with my ADHD – I’m a bit immature sometimes.”
Although the pair try to divide chores equally in their home, Nicola gets left to one of the worst jobs.
She laughed: “I have to pick up dog poo from the garden after it’s been raining. It’s just horrible, right?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Uma Thurman doesn’t see Kill Bill 3 happening soon.
The 51-year-old actress is known for her starring role as Beatrix “The Bride” Kiddo in the first two instalments of the Quentin Tarantino-directed matrix franchise admitted that there have been “discussions” regarding a third movie, but not for a while.
She said: “I can’t really tell you anything about it. I mean it has been discussed over the years. There was real thought about it happening, but very long ago.”
The Academy Award winning actress – who took on the role of the female assassin who seeks revenge after being beaten on her wedding day – explained that while she “hates to disappoint” fans, she doesn’t see it as being “on the horizon.”
Speaking to Collider, she added: ” I don’t see it as immediately on the horizon. I hate to disappoint people. Everybody wishes it would be the case, but I think it’s not immediately on the horizon.”
Acclaimed director Tarantino has claimed that his upcoming 10th film would be his last, but Uma – who is now starring in thriller series ‘Suspicion’ – recently spoke of how she has no idea of what it could be.
She said: “I don’t know even what his 10th film is going to be. All I know is he’s always said he’s only going to make 10. But then when I have heard from him, it doesn’t include if he does television. I think he has a lot of room to move. I think sequels don’t count in his 10 film number. So if there ever even were another “Kill Bill” instalment, I don’t think it would even necessarily count as the 10th film

Rylan Clark feeling ‘good’ after ‘dodgy time’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark is feeling “good” after a “dodgy time”.
The ‘Supermarket Sweep’ presenter returned to TV on Thursday night (17.02.22) to co-host ‘The One Show’ alongside Alex Jones, who asked how he was after fans had expressed concern about him on social media after he was admitted to hospital earlier this month.
She said: “How are you lovely? People have been worried.”
Rylan said: “I’m good. So nice to be back. You know me, I just love a little drama.”
He added: “I’m very good now, thank you. I had a little bit of a dodgy time, but I’m good.”
Alex said: “You’re looking well. Back on track.”
Rylan then quipped: “I am. It’s a lot of make-up.”
Last week, Rylan revealed he had been admitted to hospital earlier in the week.
The star told fans he would have to miss his BBC Radio 2 show for the second weekend running, but said he was “slowly on the mend”.
He said: “Finally home after an extended trip to Costa del hospital. Slowly on the mend. Won’t be on the wireless tomorrow. Resting up. Be back soon.”
The 33-year-old TV presenter – who separated from husband Dan Neal last year – didn’t elaborate on what had caused him to be hospitalised, but earlier in February, the star revealed he had been bedridden for “a couple of days” with flu.
He wrote: “Gone and got the flu (not surprised) been in bed for a couple of days. Have lat tested and not Covid thankfully but won’t be able to go on the wireless tomorrow. Be back soon x (sic)”

Tom Hanks to reunite with Robert Zemeckis and Eric Roth for Here

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks, Robert Zemeckis and Eric Roth are to reunite for the movie ‘Here’.
The new project will mark the first time the trio will collaborate since their talents came together on the classic 1994 movie ‘Forrest Gump’. The drama won six Oscars, with Hanks (Best Actor), Zemeckis (Best Director) and Roth (Best Adapted Screenplay) all taking home gongs in addition to the movie’s Best Picture triumph.
‘Here’ has Tom attached to star, with Robert directing and Eric writing the script. The trio are adapting the project from a graphic novel published in 2014 by Richard McGuire.
The plot is centered in one room and chronicles the events that have occurred in that space over the course of hundreds of thousands of years.
Following the success of ‘Forrest Gump’, Tom, 65, has worked with Robert and Eric separately. He teamed up with the former for ‘Cast Away’ and ‘The Polar Express’ and with the latter on the 2011 film ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’.
Meanwhile, Tom’s upcoming movie ‘A Man Called Otto’ was acquired by Sony Pictures for $60 million at the virtual European Film Market.
The forthcoming flick tells the story of a grumpy, retired man who strikes up an unlikely friendship with his new neighbours and also stars Mariana Trevino, Rachel Keller and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

Phoebe Dynevor to star in and executive produce The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne

OHMYGOSSIP — Phoebe Dynevor will executive produce and star in ‘The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne’.
The ‘Bridgerton’ actress has been tapped to lead the cast of the Amazon film based on the book of the same name by Jonathan Stroud and helmed by James Bobin.
The film is set in a fragmented future England, where gunfights and monsters collide, and where formidable outlaw Scarlett McCain battles against the odds on a daily basis.
When Scarlett discovers a wrecked coach on a lonely road, there is only one survivor – the hapless youth Albert Browne.
The pair soon face new and implacable enemies are on their heels and a relentless pursuit that continues across the broken landscape of England. Scarlett must fight to uncover the secrets of Albert’s past and come to terms with the implications of her own.
Joe Tracz is adapting the screenplay with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey’s Temple Hill Entertainment producing the flick. John Fischer and George Berman brought them the rights to the book and will oversee the movie for the company.
Meanwhile, Phoebe is set to star alongside Alden Ehrenreich in the movie ‘Fair Play’.
The picture will be written and directed by Chloe Domont and is set after a woman’s promotion at a cut-throat hedge fund sends her relationship with her partner on a downward spiral and threatens to unravel more than just their recent engagement.
Phoebe shot to fame after playing Daphne Bridgerton in the hit Netflix period drama and she credits the programme for “changing her life” in several ways.
The 26-year-old actress said: “I’d say ‘Bridgerton’ has definitely changed my life. But not only in the things that have come from the job, but also just the experience of it and meeting the most incredible people; just learning so much from working so hard for that period of time.”

Happy Mondays’ Bez to pay tribute to Meat Loaf on Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Happy Mondays star Bez will pay tribute to late star Meat Loaf on this weekend’s ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 57-year-old musician will fly off the ice while riding a giant bat, in homage to the legendary ‘Bat Out of Hell’ hitmaker, who passed away in January aged 74.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “There are strict safety measures in place but Bez actually seems to be at less risk when he’s floating up in the air on a giant bat.”
Bez has been wearing a helmet under his costume during his skates to protect his head in case he takes a tumble, and the star admitted last week he feels “awful” that he’s remained on ‘Dancing on Ice’ when some of his fellow stars – such as Ben Foden, Ria Hebden, and Rachel Stevens – have been eliminated from the show.
He said: “I feel so awful for everyone, like Ben. He skated brilliantly and he was really strong, doing massive lifts on his first skate. I felt really bad.
“Then Ria went out and I felt really bad again. Then Rachel went and she’s so beautiful. I was like, ‘Aarrrgh!’
“We’ve got a group chat and I send my love and that in there.
“I just feel so awful. The judges having the final say is my only saving grace. That stops me completely crumbling about it.”
Bez – who tested positive for coronavirus earlier in the series – admitted he is expecting to be voted off the show soon, so much so he has even been rehearsing the elimination process.
He said: “Last week in the dress rehearsal I actually went through elimination. Now I know what it felt like to get eliminated.”

Olivia Colman to appear in BBC’s Great Expectations

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman is to appear in Steven Knight’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel ‘Great Expectations’ for the BBC.
The 48-year-old actress will play the role of spinster Miss Havisham in the forthcoming six-part series, which is written and produced by Steven.
It will follow the classic coming-of-age story set in Victorian times about orphan Pip, who spends his childhood as a blacksmith’s apprentice in a village before receiving a sudden windfall from a mysterious benefactor that enables him to move to London and enter high society.
Fionn Whitehead will portray Pip, alongside Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle and Matt Berry.
It comes from the team behind the BBC’s 2019 adaptation of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’.
‘Great Expectations and ‘A Christmas Carol’ are the first two in a series of adaptations of Dickens novels for the BBC.
The series will be produced by Mark Kinsella and directed by Lucy Forbes, whose previous projects have included directing BBC series ‘This is Going to Hurt’.
‘Great Expectations’ was originally published in 1861, and released as a series of chapters every week before the decision was made to publish it as a novel.
The BBC had previously produced a three-part drama titled ‘Great Expectations’, which was written by Sarah Phelps in 2011.
It starred Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham and Douglas Booth as Pip, and the miniseries was critically well received, winning four Creative Arts Emmy Awards out of five nominations – for Outstanding Art Direction, Cinematography, Costumes, and Main Title Design.
