OHMYGOSSIP — Tati Gabrielle loves playing villains.
The 26-year-old actress stars in ‘Uncharted’ as the mercenary Jo Braddock and admits she enjoys getting to play antagonistic characters as it challenges her as a performer.
Tati told The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s funny because I feel every actor wants to play a villain at some point. It’s one of the most fun things that you can do. It’s always fun to be the bad guy. It’s a fun acting challenge to try to make people hate you. How could you be so bad that you make people like and love hating you?”
Despite her fondness for evil characters, Tati admits she is wary of being typecast as a villain after playing an antagonist in the TV series ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’.
She said: “I don’t want to say I’m typecast because I hope that I’m never typecasted, but I never thought that it would be something that would permeate like that – that people would continue to see me as a villain.
“I feel it’s something that has come to me and I’ve stepped to it and said, ‘OK, yeah, let’s try this.'”
Tati continued: “I think that though after ‘Uncharted’ I probably won’t take another character like this for a while. I want to keep variety in my abilities and what I’m able to show and what I’m able to challenge myself with.”
The star is pleased that female villains are given greater representation on screen and hopes that Braddock serves as inspiration for other characters.
She said: “I hope to see the evolution of female villains in the way of seeing more characters like Braddock and beyond that, from start to finish hold their power, hold their stance in the world and go out with a fight.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson has suggested that the script for ‘The Marvels’ is “bonkers”.
The 32-year-old star will reprise her role as Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) flick – the sequel to the 2019 movie ‘Captain Marvel’ – and has claimed that viewers can expect a wild ride with the film.
Brie told Uproxx: “I feel it’s like, I wish I could talk about. I can talk about my feelings around it. I can say that… I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honour it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future.
“And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers.”
The ‘Kong: Skull Island’ actress believes that the upcoming movie, which is slated for release in February 2023, demonstrates Marvel’s ability of reinvention.
Brie shared: “And it’s the thing that I love about Marvel, is that they continue to reinvent. They continue to do the thing that you just would never think would be possible in these films. And they’re not afraid to go there. So I’m super excited about what we did.
“I think there are some huge personal achievements of mine that I’m really excited about sharing, but you know, it’s fun to have a bit of a secret. And it’s fun to know that, when this film comes out, people are going to be delighted. And I get to keep that to myself for a little bit longer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — John Carpenter wants to make a sequel to ‘The Thing’.
The horror legend has revealed that he would like to make a follow-up to the 1982 movie, which tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who are assimilated by an extra-terrestrial parasite.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, John said: “I would like to do a sequel to ‘The Thing’, or a continuation, something like that. But I don’t know. See? There are a lot of things in this world I don’t know.”
John co-created the slasher franchise ‘Halloween’ with Debra Hill and is delighted about the enduring popularity of the series – with the latest movie ‘Halloween Kills’ released only last year.
The 74-year-old director, who helmed the original 1978 ‘Halloween’ film, said: “I feel fabulous about it. It is also fabulous when I look up from my perch on my couch and a check arrives in the mail. I feel extremely happy.”
John also claims that there can never be too much gore in a horror film, citing the recent ‘Halloween Kills’ as an example of a brutal movie that was well-received by audiences.
He said: “Anything goes. To each their own. ‘Halloween Kills’, the second installment in this modern trilogy, was extremely gory. But it worked with the audiences. They loved it. Go figure.”
Carpenter has composed the scores for the recent ‘Halloween’ movies and previously described ‘Halloween Kills’ as the “ultimate slasher” film.
John said: “It’s the ultimate slasher. I mean, there’s nothing more than this one. Wow! Man.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lin-Manuel Miranda has promised the live-action ‘Little Mermaid’ will still feature the classic songs from the original animated movie.
The 42-year-old star is working with composer Alan Menken on some new tracks for the upcoming film but he has reassured fans they won’t take the place of the likes of ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Part of Your World’.
He told Variety’s ‘Awards Circuit’ podcast: “We wrote three or four original tunes, replacing none of the ones you like. All of those are in.
“There’s no bigger Little Mermaid fan than me.
“But we found a couple of opportunities for some other music that I can’t wait to see. I’m in the dark as anyone else, honestly.”
Of the new songs, the ‘Hamilton’ creator revealed one comes when Halle Bailey’s Ariel gives up her voice to become a human.
He said: “[Director] Rob [Marshall] found a creative way to hear from Ariel, even though she is sans voice for a little while. We wrote some music [for] her time on land. She experiences a lot of firsts, as someone with legs for the first time, so we got to lean into all of that musically.”
But Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula won’t have anything new to sing, though Lin wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Daveed Diggs showing off his rapping skills as Sebastian.
Lin has enjoyed collaborating with veteran composer Alan on the project.
He said: “Alan will tell you if he does not like something.
“He’s a very like heart and opinion on sleeve guy. … He’s scoring it as well, along with the songs, just as he did with the original.
“I won’t see a rough cut for another month or couple of months, but the fact that he’s excited has me excited.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland didn’t want people to see his chest hair in ‘Uncharted’.
The 25-year-old actor joked he hoped he was well groomed for filming because he was embarrassed about audiences seeing him without his shirt on in the new action movie
After being asked by host Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small if he was nervous about having his body blown up on an IMAX screen, Tom said on ‘Smallzy’s Celebrity Small Talk’ podcast: “I hoped I shaved my nipples on those days because I have the most embarrassing chest hair.”
Tom shared that joining the film’s cast – which also includes Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas and Sophia Taylor Ali – was “an easy decision” for him as had gotten to know the character while playing the video game.
He said: “It was an easy decision. The initial script that I read was fantastic. The character was someone that I really enjoyed playing in the video games, so someone I was excited to bring to life on the big screen.”
Along with this, the ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ star also relished the opportunity for a “new challenge” after the Marvel franchise dropped its most recent installment in December.
Tom – who is in a relationship with ‘Euphoria’ star Zendaya – said: “Also I was excited for a new challenge. You know, this film has been incredibly difficult to make for all sorts of reasons, but equally has been as rewarding, so it was an easy decision.”
The British actor thinks it is “funny” that he’s asked if he’s ever been tested for COVID-19 every time he gets swabbed because routine screening has become such a big part of making a movie.
He said: “It’s so funny, every time, I get tested now, the person’s like, ‘Have you been tested before?’ Where do yo think I’ve been, what do you think I do?”
Tom assured that some tests “tickle more than others do” and that there was a testing clinician they nicknamed “deep throat Debbie” on set.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Thomas Anderson has “secret” social media profiles “all over the place”
The ‘Licorice Pizza’ director – who has Pearl, 16, Lucille, 11, Jack, nine, and Ida, eight, with partner Maya Rudolph – thinks it’s “hilarious” that he tried to monitor his daughter’s Instagram incognito however she sussed him out but still has them to “be aware of what’s happening in the world” to keep up to date with trends for his film career.
The 51-year-old movie maker told IndieWire: “I have secret accounts all over the place. It’s hilarious. When my daughter was younger, she got Instagram and I tried to get a secret account to follow her. She was like, ‘It’s not a secret. I’m seeing you.’ I was like, ‘Oh well.’
“The only way you’re going to film right now is to be aware of what’s happening in the world.”
The director admitted “breaking through” was much more difficult in his early career but the social media age has opened more doors for people.
He said: “I remember when I started out, it was impossible to break through. You used to put a trailer up in front of a movie and it was a nightmare. You had to go through the MPAA to get it approved, you had to get it approved by the studio, you had to go through all these hoops. Then you weren’t even guaranteed that it was going to be in front of a movie you wanted to be in front of.
“Now we have the ability to just put stuff out there — Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, any f****** place. You can just do it. The joys of that are so extreme.
“We’ve depended upon that particularly for these last few films to make people aware of where they can see it and how they can see it in a certain way. Without it, imagine the amount of money you have to spend to let people know where they see it.
“I don’t see how you can participate in getting a film out in the world without understanding how to get to people.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Dano suffered sleepless nights while filming ‘The Batman’.
The 37-year-old actor portrays the Riddler in the upcoming film and he admitted he found it “a little hard” to step away from the menacing character at the end of a day’s filming because he needed to sustain a high level of energy.
He told Entertainment Weekly magazine: “There were some nights around that I probably didn’t sleep as well as I would’ve wanted to just because it was a little hard to come down from this character.
“It takes a lot of energy to get there. And so you almost have to sustain it once you’re there because going up and down is kind of hard.
“What I felt was the opportunity that [director] Matt [Reeves] was giving with a villain in this film was more real, potentially more terrifying.”
When in character, Paul wrapped himself in plastic wrap because the Riddler didn’t want to leave his DNA behind at crime scenes and he admitted he was “scared” of how his body felt afterwards.
He recalled: “My head was just throbbing with heat.
“I went home that night, after the first full day in that, and I almost couldn’t sleep because I was scared of what was happening to my head. It was like compressed from the sweat and the heat and the lack of oxygen. It was a crazy feeling.”
Paul had always wanted to make a superhero movie but nothing had caught his eye until director Matt Reeves got in touch about ‘The Batman’.
He said: “[I was] waiting for the right one or ones, where you’re in collaboration with people and material that excites you. And this was definitely that.
“I was totally surprised, frankly, that [the script] was so good. I felt immediately [on] page one, page two, you could tell that the director was seeing the film that they wrote.
“You could feel, even in the action scenes, the type of energy behind the fighting or the violence, it was just very fully conceived.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tahar Rahim has joined the cast of ‘Napoleon’.
The 40-year-old star will feature in Ridley Scott’s upcoming historical epic that is currently in production.
The movie will be an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift and ruthless rise to becoming French Emperor.
Joaquin Phoenix will play Napoleon with Vanessa Kirby starring as his wife Josephine, with the flick chronicling the pair’s addictive and often volatile relationship.
Rahim will play Paul Barras – the powerful Commissioner of the Revolutionary Army.
Ridley is producing the Apple TV+ project through his Scott Free Productions banner alongside Mark Huffam and Kevin Walsh. The movie expands the production company’s partnership with Apple – which has a first-look deal for television projects with Apple TV+.
Tahar’s previous movie credits include ‘The Mauritanian’ and he also portrayed the serial killer Charles Sobhraj in the TV series ‘The Serpent’.
Jodie Comer had been due to star as Josephine but was forced to drop out of the movie because of a scheduling conflict with her theatre debut on London’s West End, ‘Prima Facie’.
The ‘Killing Eve’ actress said: “Unfortunately, due to Covid and changes of schedule, I don’t think I can make it work right now due to a scheduling conflict.”
Meanwhile, Tahar previously suggested that he was “honoured” to collaborate with Jodie Foster on ‘The Mauritanian’ but was often shy around her on the set.
The French actor said: “It was great and such an honour to work with her. She is the coolest, the nicest, and what a great actress.
“But of course, I was a bit intimidated by her. I was too shy to tell her how much I love her films. I didn’t want to bother her by telling her I am a fan.”

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cena is to star in ‘Coyote vs. Acme’.
The 44-year-old actor has boarded the cast of the Warner Bros. live-action/animated hybrid movie.
Dave Green is directing the project with the script penned by Samy Burch based on the Looney Tunes characters and the New Yorker magazine article ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ by Ian Frazier.
The film follows Wile E. Coyote, who after ACME products fail him constantly in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a lawyer to sue the corporation.
The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer against the ACME company’s intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes the pair’s determination to win.
James Gunn and Chris DeFaria are producing the movie, which is slated for release in July 2023.
Cena worked with James on the HBO Max series ‘Peacemaker’ after first playing the role in the 2021 superhero movie ‘The Suicide Squad’ and the show’s producer Peter Safran claims that James felt that the WWE star had the potential to “go deeper” as an actor.
He said: “I knew that James wanted to tell that story and that he wanted to really go deep with John on that character.
“And when you watch the series, you realise that his dad was every bit as bad as Bloodsport’s was – and in some ways, much worse. That was just a tiny little Easter egg in there, and it all gets unpacked in the series.
“I think he felt with John there was a real untapped acting resource there, and that people will be very surprised to see how deep John can go.
“We knew that he could go there, and there’s a real pleasure in bringing that to a wider audience.”
