OHMYGOSSIP — Cillian Murphy visited a Birmingham pub to master his brummie accent for ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The 45-year-old Irish actor – who stars as Tommy Shelby in the hit BBC period crime drama – has revealed he and the show’s creator, Steve Knight, recorded locals at the historical Garrison boozer featured on the series.
He told the Radio Times: “I hung out with Steve, and we went to the actual Garrison pub in Birmingham with his Brummie mates.
“And they’re singing Birmingham City songs and telling all sorts of stories, and I was recording on my iPhone, and then I took that home, and used it to try and track the accents, you know.”
The Cork-born star also sent Steve voice messages to see how close he was to turning his native tongue into that of a Brummie one.
He added: “And then I would call Steve and just leave voicemails on his phone in the accent and see how close I was to it.”
Cillian also explained that in order to portray a character with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), he had to make some lifestyle alterations in order to physically transform himself.
Cillian said: “I’m not a very physically imposing person. So I have to eat a lot of protein and lift a lot of weights. So that takes a while, which I hate.”
Elsewhere, the ‘Inception’ actor opened up about how distraught everyone was on set following the tragic death of Helen McCrory, who died of cancer in April 2021 at age 52.
The screen legend played Shelby family matriarch Polly Gray on the gangster show.
He added: “She was a remarkable human being and a remarkable actor. And I feel very privileged to have got to know her so well. She really was on a different level, and our scenes were my favourites.”
The highly-anticipated sixth and final season of ‘Peaky Blinders’ will return this Sunday (27.02.22) on BBC One.

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton Hanson has claimed she was blocked from a dating app, because they assumed she was a catfish.
The 27-year-old reality star – who rose to fame after appearing on fourth series of ITV2’s ‘Love Island’ – has had a hard time trying to meet a potential suitor after she was blocked from major dating apps, including celebrity site Raya and Hinge.
She told the Metro newspaper: “It’s hard, I got blocked off Raya for saying Channing Tatum was on there so that’s that avenue gone. Hinge – I got blocked off there because they thought I was a catfish.”
Megan can currently be seen on MTV’s ‘Celebrity Ex On The Beach’ alongside former partner and ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star James Lock, 35, and she admitted it was “nerve-wrecking” seeing her former flame again.
She added: “I’ve only ever had three serious relationships in the public eye so the main ones are from ‘Love Island’ and my first female relationship. I met Demi Sims on another dating show and we’re still friends.
“Everyone in there thought they would be sweet if they saw their ex but in that environment people’s emotions were heightened, so it was quite nerve-racking.”
Megan – who came out as bisexual in 2019 – said it would be good for ‘Love Island’ to become more sexually diverse and not just be for straight couples only.
She said: “There isn’t much representation for bisexual men. I get so many DMs from men who want to experiment with their sexuality or they have come out as bisexual.”
Megan – who is on OnlyFans – went on to land a job as a sex correspondent for Vice last year, and she would like to rival documentary maker Louis Theroux with a feature on the “real side” of the sex industry.
She said: “I want to release something to champion the real side of the sex industry not in a demeaning way. Some of my favourite people like Louis Theroux, have made stuff about it but it always comes with undertones of being a bit patronising so I’d love to show strong, independent men and women working in the sex industry and having a choice.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Robertson feels his storylines are repetitive on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 36-year-old actor – who has played Adam Barlow on-and-off since 2004 – is “troubled” by the ITV soap making his character cheat on his wife Sarah Platt [Tina O’Brien] again.
He told The Mirror: “Sometimes you pick up a script and I feel like I’m doing the same scene as I did 12 months ago.
“At first, I was a bit troubled by it because we did a storyline when Adam had a fling with Carla [Connor, Alison King]. I don’t know if it’s too soon for more of that?”
Sam admits it’s “tough” to be fighting with his on-screen wife again.
He said: “Tina and I have gone from working together and a lot of harmony to suddenly being at each other’s throats. So it’s been really tough to do that again so soon.”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant has urged for the show to “recalibrate” what Adam stands for as a person.
He continued: “Sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it has been five and half months that we’ve been in this storyline.
“I definitely feel like it needs to recalibrate. Who is this character I’m playing now? With the confusion Adam is feeling, I’m kind of feeling that myself as an actor.”
The former ‘Beaver Falls’ star admitted “sometimes familiarity breeds contempt”.
He added: “It has been something different – sometimes familiarity breeds contempt” as he seemed to hint his desire to move on from the cobbles.
“As an actor, you are used to working on different characters. I’m at a stage now where I’ve not played another character for like over six years. So it’s like ‘wow, it’s mad.'”
Sam – who is taking a break from the ITV soap – claims “the job takes over your life”.
He concluded: “I was coming home at night to a hotel room on my own. Sometimes you feel like you’re stuck in a bit of a rut. The job takes over your life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway took husband Derek Draper to Mexico for a long COVID clinical trial.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter was invited to bring the 54-year-old former spin doctor to Monterrey – 11,000 miles away from home – to take part in the trial after he spent over a year in hospital with coronavirus in March 2020 and was placed in a coma.
Kate reveals their trip to Mexico on tonight’s ‘Caring For Derek’ documentary – a follow-up to the National Television Award-winning ‘Finding Derek’.
According to The Sun, the 54-year-old broadcaster said: “It took weeks and weeks of planning, and when I told Derek about this place he was excited.
“He is just so desperate to get better – he will do anything he can to make that happen.
“I think actually there’s a huge amount of hope for him to improve. I think the treatment could be positive.”
Despite her optimism, Kate is being “slightly careful” about what she reveals to not raise “false hope” for those also reliant on constant care after their COVID-19 infections.
Kate said: “I want to be slightly careful about saying too much, because I’m aware that everybody will go, ‘What is the trial?’ And I don’t want to start something, offering up false hope to others who might be in a similar position.”
Kate – whose husband requires constant around the clock care – is “desperate” for things to get better, but admitted he’s not “out of the woods yet”.
She continued: “But I’m just so desperate to be able to give a happy ending – for Derek mainly, but also for everybody who asks me every day how he’s getting on.
“I’m desperate to be able to tell them he’s getting better … but of course he’s not out of the woods yet.”
Kate – who has 15-year-old Darcey and 12-year-old Billy with Derek – is unable to gauge “how the treatment went so” as it’s the very beginning but acknowledged the “positives”.
She added: “It’s hard to say how the treatment went so far, as it’s very early in the treatment programme and he will need much more. We are also still waiting for final analysis of all the scans, but I like there was a lot of positives.”
To get him across the Atlantic, the new ‘Life Stories’ host had to arrange for a specialist nurse to accompany him and praised Derek for being “amazing”.
She said: “He was quite a nervous flyer anyway, so you can imagine how draining and overwhelming this must have been for him.
“But he was amazing, and was aware of what was going on the whole time. I’m so proud of him.”
Although Derek no longer has COVID, his major organs have suffered long-lasting damage, while he is unable to talk properly and may never be able to walk again.
Derek is due to return to Mexico in March for 28 days.
‘Caring For Derek’ airs from 9pm on ITV.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sally Nugent has compared landing her job on ‘BBC Breakfast’ to taking her A-levels.
The 50-year-old broadcaster was tipped to replace Louise Minchin when she quit the show last year because she was a frequent stand-in presenter but she insisted it was still an “intense” process to land the job because so many other people wanted the coveted gig.
She recalled: “Every day I just came in and did my best. Actually it’s quite liberating because it’s out of your hands.
“There was a panel interview and a BBC board – a bit like doing an A-level exam. The scrutiny was really intense. Louise gave me a little pep talk before.
“You can do your best, give the best interview that you can possibly do, the best presentation, think about how to make the programme as good as it can possibly be. But they test you because the programme is so big now.”
Sally had an advantage because she was aware Louise was leaving “one of the best jobs in telly” before it was officially announced and encouraged her pal to throw her hat in the ring to be her replacement.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Louise told me she was leaving before it was announced.
“We talked about what she was going to do and all the exciting adventures she had planned, and what it was going to be like getting a normal night’s sleep.
“We both got very giddy. At the end of the conversation she said, ‘Well, you’re going to obviously have to go for the job.’ I was like, ‘what?’ And then I went, ‘Well, I am, aren’t I, because it’s brilliant.’
“I’ve been filling in for so many years and love it.”
Despite her decades of experience, Sally still thinks she has a lot to learn and is grateful to have a “generous” co-host in Dan Walker.
She said: “I learn something new every single day.
“I learn loads from Dan. Dan is very generous. The only way you can do this job and improve is to make mistakes, move on, get better every day. You can do all the preparation the night before, but once that red light goes on, it’s just us two. You can’t do this job unless you trust the person you’re sitting next to 100%.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway used her own body to soften her bed-bound husband Derek Draper’s tumble.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter – whose husband has been in need of round-the-clock care since he contracted COVID-19 in March 2020 – recalled the time she used her own body as a cushion his fall from his wheelchair on ‘Caring For Derek’, Tuesday’s follow-up to the National Television Award winning ‘Finding Derek’.
Sharing about on the ITV documentary. The 54-year-old broadcaster said: “He went down and I was trying to say ‘are you ok?’, and he was like ‘yep’ and then we couldn’t get him up.
“It was so awful, I felt so sorry for him, the kids had gone out to the fireworks. Billy came back and he was so great.”
Kate said that when their 13-year-old son Billy came back, he told his father that “he was in a bit of a pickle”, to which Derek agreed, saying: “Yes I am, Bill.”
When their 15-year-old daughter Darcey came back, she recruited her friend’s father to help get Derek back into bed.
Kate said: “And then Darcey came down the road and was fortunately with her friend’s parents and I said ‘go and get Polly’s dad’.”
However, the ‘Life Stories’ presenter double-checked that Derek was okay with this.
Kate said: “I said to Derek, ‘are you ok with this?’ And he looked me hard in the eye and he said ‘Kate I know my predicament, we need help.'”
The three of them worked together to get Derek back into the bed.
Kate has detailed the impact that the virus has had on her 54-year-old husband – including damaging his digestive system, kidneys, liver, heart and nervous system – and has left him with a “kind of heartbreak in his eyes.”
Kate said: “Derek dreams about the ‘before’, and every morning it’s just so, so awful seeing him wake up, and the realisation of where he is.
“There’s a kind of heartbreak in his eyes, every single morning. You can just see it.
“It reminds me of when you’d have a horrible breakup and wake up in the morning, feeling all right – and then that sort of sucker punch of remembering.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson looks set to expand his farming brand after setting up two new businesses.
The ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ star and his partner Lisa Hogan are joint owners of new companies, Curdle Hill Juice and Curdle Hill Wholesale.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the two organisations were incorporated on February 14th.
Jeremy calls milk sold at his Diddly Squat Farm Shop “cow juice” and he refers to his honey as “bee juice”.
This comes after ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ – which tells of Jeremy’s life on his Diddly Squat Farm – won the Best Popular Factual Programme prize at the Broadcast Awards earlier this month.
And last month, Jeremy trademarked his catchphrase “I Did A Thing”, so he can create a line of merchandise for his smash-hit Amazon Prime show to be sold at his Cotswolds farm.
A source said at the time: “Jeremy is aware his catchphrase has taken off since he started his Amazon farm show, which has picked up a cult following.
“He sees it as a bit of an asset and feels, ‘Why allow other people to financially benefit from it when he can?’.
“The wheels are now in motion so it won’t be long until his own official merch comes out, which his fans are bound to lap up.”
The former ‘Top Gear’ host submitted the application for the trademark from his farm’s company Curdle Farm Ltd.
Potential items for sale with the phrase on include beer mugs, coffee cups, T-shirts and jumpers.
‘Clarkson’s Farm’ also features fan favourite farm hand Kaleb Cooper.

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel are leaving the BBC to host an “ambitious” podcast together.
The BBC News veterans have joined forces for a deal with LBC radio’s parent company Global on an unnamed project, and Emily – who previously worked with Jon on the BBC Sounds podcast ‘Americast’ over the 2020 US Presidential election – labelled it a “major podcast”.
On Twitter, the 51-year-old journalist – who has worked at BBC for nearly 20 years and landed an array of awards for her 2019 bombshell interview with Prince Andrew over his association with convicted sexual abuser Jeffrey Epstein – gushed how she and Jon “are so thrilled Global is giving us this opportunity to be big and ambitious with this project”.
Jon – who is coming back to London after his posting in the US – tweeted: “Opportunities like this just don’t come along very often. But am sad to leave the BBC which has been home for so long.”
The 62-year-old journalist labelled it “a wrench” to be leaving the corporation after nearly four decades working there.
He said: “I leave with nothing but good feelings towards the Corporation, and wish all the best to my colleagues and friends there.”
James Rea, Global’s director of broadcasting and content, called the duo “brilliant journalists” and enthused about working with them.
He said: “They are both brilliant journalists and presenters and I know we’re going to build something hugely exciting together.”
The interim director of BBC News, Jonathan Munro, expressed his gratitude to Jon and Emily “for their many years of sterling service”.
He said: “We’d like to thank both Emily and Jon for their many years of sterling service to the BBC and wish them the very best in their new endeavours at Global.”
The pair are the latest big names to depart the BBC for Global, as Andrew Marr did so at the end of last year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacqueline Jossa had to sell her house after leaving ‘EastEnders’ because she was “struggling with money”.
The 29-year-old actress – who played Lauren Branning in the BBC soap from 2010 to 2018 – has opened up about her past financial issues after leaving the show, admitting she would do magazine interviews to “feed [her] kids”.
She said: “I was on ‘EastEnders’ for eight years where you got a set pay cheque every week. It was a set pay cheque and I didn’t have to do anything else. It was my comfort blanket, it was what I knew. Then it just wasn’t.
“There’s no such thing for me as maternity pay, so when I had kids I had to leave and I had to do magazine covers to make money to feed my kids.
“Once you’re gone, when you’re not on the show, you don’t have money. Done! You’re not paid anything else.
“‘I’m going to have to do like a shoot.’ People go, ‘Why are you selling your soul?’ I’m feeding my kids. That’s the difference. I’m not embarrassed, I’m not ashamed.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star – who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2019 – explained she had to sell her house before her stint on the programme.
Speaking to ‘TOWIE’ stars Sam and Billie Faiers on their podcast ‘The Sam and Billie Show’, she said: “There’s been times where I haven’t had money. Before I went in the jungle I was struggling with money. I had to sell my house.
“And then I went in the jungle and had amazing opportunities, so I would never ever ever look at somebody and say, ‘They’re not hustling enough’. You have to do it.”
Jacqueline – who shares daughters Ella, seven, and Mia, three, with her husband, former ‘TOWIE’ star Dan Osborne, 30 – said she is done having kids, as she cannot imagine “going back to bottles and sterilising”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Regan Gascoigne would love to do a reality show with his dad Paul Gascoigne.
The professional dancer, who is the son of former England footballer Gazza, said it would be “amazing” if he got to film a series with his father.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Regan, 26, said: “I think it would be so fun, I don’t know what’s going to happen after this [‘Dancing on Ice’], but I think if we did that it’s going to be amazing.”
Show host Lorraine Kelly, 62, replied: “You’ve got a great bond and you’d bring out a side of him that maybe people haven’t seen before and vice-versa.”
Regan, who is partnered with pro ice skater Karina Manta in the latest series of ITV’s ‘Dancing on Ice’, also revealed to Lorraine that he suffered a nasty accident on the ice rink, which saw him flying onto his back.
He said: “You have no control. One tiny little movement can throw you.
“It so slippery to a point that it’s like you have no control, even though you think you know what you’re doing and you have the routine in your head.
“Like the other day, when we were on the practice rink I went flying and landed on my back, literally on something that I had been doing so easily. It just happened.”
However, his back isn’t the only body part Regan has injured throughout his ‘Dancing on Ice’ journey.
The star added: “Both my knees are bruised, I have knee supports on both knees, and I’ve popped my shoulder.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kimberly Hart-Simpson volunteers at a charity shop.
The 35-year-old actress – who is known for her role as sex worker Nicky Wheatley on ‘Coronation Street’ – revealed that she has taken up a volunteering position at the British Heart Foundation and fits it in around her filming schedule.
She said: “I’ve gone to their shops near me for years, not just to shop but to chat with the staff because I became friends with them. The charity have done a big volunteering drive as the numbers of shop volunteers they had fell after lockdown, so I’ve been doing it around my schedule and it’s become a home from home to me.”
Kimberly explained that while she normally sticks to stockroom duties, on the occasion she has worked on the shop floor, she has met the “best people.”
She told The Mirror: “I often tend to stick downstairs in the stockroom where I can rummage through the donations and steam them to prep them for sale, but I have worked on the shop floor as well and it’s lovely chatting to customers coming in. You meet the best people.”
Kimberly – who is set to return to her role on the ITV soap in spring 2022 – previously spoke of how her sister Emma had been diagnosed with “life-altering” condition dilated cardiomyopathy, which affects how the well the heart can pump blood around the body.
She said: “A few years ago [my sister] Emma became poorly and after going back and forth to the doctors for a long time she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. The condition has been life-altering for her – she has a lot of different symptoms and has good and bad days but can’t predict when they will be, it can be frustrating when she feels fine one day but can’t do anything the next.
Because of Emma’s experience, it has pushed me to use my platform so everybody knows about the charity and it’s a definite driver for me to carry on shopping there.”
