OHMYGOSSIP — David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston and Peter Capaldi are set to return to ‘Doctor Who’ for the show’s 60th anniversary.
Returning showrunner Russell T Davies will mark six decades of the sci-fi series by attempting to bring back a number of stars who portrayed the Time Lord – including Matt Smith – in a special inspired by the 20th anniversary episode.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “The BBC wanted something unique to mark six decades of ‘Doctor Who’ and while getting all the former Time Lords together will be a challenge, it’s one Russell might just achieve.”
Russell led the revamp of the BBC sci-fi show in 2005, after its original run ended in 1989.
The source added: “After all, he was the man responsible for signing up Christopher and David back in 2005, and he is one of the few people who might convince them to be a part of the show again.”
The rumoured idea for the “landmark” episode is inspired by the the 1983 celebration of two decades, titled ‘The Five Doctors’, which saw the first five Doctors come together.
It starred Richard Hurndall – who stood in for the late William Hartnell, the First Doctor – Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and Peter Davison.
The insider added: “It remains to be seen if he can achieve an exact copy of ‘The Five Doctors’, but he will certainly want to capture some of the spirit of that landmark episode in these specials.”
This news comes after it was previously confirmed that Jodie Whittaker – the first woman to assume take on the titular Time Lord role – is leaving the show.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jim Broadbent receives more “recognition” for starring in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ than he does for winning an Oscar.
The 72-year-old actor, who played DCI Roy Slater in the 80s BBC sitcom, says he’s more famous for appearing in three episodes in 1983, 1985 and 1991 then he is for triumphing at the Academy Awards, when the ‘Harry Potter’ star landed a Best Supporting Actor gong at the 2002 Oscars for his role in ‘Iris’.
Jim – who has also starred in the likes of ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ and ‘Paddington’ – said: “I only went in for three episodes – never allowed to forget it.
“I saw one the other day, ‘Class Reunion’, and it was on and I sort of hovered by the sofa.
“And then I sat down and watched it right through. It was extraordinary. It’s quite non-PC some of it now. It’s sort of, ‘Oooh’, it’s 30 years ago.
“But still it’s by far the most recognition I get on the street is for ‘Only Fools’.”
Jim – whose latest role sees him star in comedy-drama movie ‘The Duke’ alongside Dame Helen Mirren – is not surprised by the popularity of ‘Only Fools’.
He told the ‘That Gaby Roslin Podcast’: “It’s really quality writing and performing. Beautifully drawn characters. They fit so well into this comedic structure.
“You care about them and you laugh at them, and with them, and it’s very special what John Sullivan did, pulling it together.”
The British sitcom – which was created and written by John Sullivan, and starred Sir David Jason as market trader Del Boy Trotter – ran for seven series from 1981 until 1991, and aired numerous Christmas specials until the show ended in 2003.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Walker has no plans to leave ‘BBC Breakfast’.
The 44-year-old broadcaster – who on Tuesday (01.03.22) marks his six-year anniversary on the morning news programme – is unsure about how long he will stay, but doesn’t think he’ll be “going anywhere soon”.
Dan told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I genuinely don’t know. Honestly, I can’t say I’ll be here for 10 years because who knows? I think I told you before, I definitely wouldn’t stay as long as Bill Turnbull’s been knocking about for. I love new challenges, but I love this challenge. And I really love the programme and I love working with the people so I don’t see myself going anywhere soon.”
The former ‘Football Focus’ presenter took part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last year, and he believes part of his success on the show is because of his supportive ‘BBC Breakfast’ colleagues, who include Sally Nugent, 50, who replaced Louise Minchin, 53, as Dan’s co-host.
Dan – who competed with pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – said: “On ‘Strictly’, when you’re on there and you think I was in the bottom two or three every single week, and you’re never in the dance off. Now a lot of that is because you’ve got the [BBC] Breakfast love.”
The star enjoys meeting “lovely” viewers who watch him in action on their screens.
He said: “So you’ve got your audience of people who buy stuff who vote and who donate. And when you meet them on the street or when you go to events or whatever, that they’re all lovely.
“Really kind, really generous and just appreciate the relationship they have with you in the morning. I think just build on that really, that’s what I’d love to do.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctors’ stars are delighted about the show moving to a prime time slot.
The medical soap – which first aired in 2000 – airs at 1:45pm on BBC One, and a repeat of the show is to air on BBC Two on Mondays to Thursdays from March 7th.
Actress Sarah Moyle, who plays receptionist Valerie in the medical drama, was over the moon when she heard about the latest development at The Mill.
She told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Prime time is our new favourite phrase, no matter what happens we’re like, ‘Yeah we’re prime time!’
“I don’t think it’ll change anything about the show. What we have is unique, it’s quirky and it’s different but hopefully it’ll be something new.”
Co-star Dex Lee, who plays practice manager Bear, added: “That’s our selling point, we’re going to double down on that quirkiness and hopefully our new audience will love it as much as we love doing it.”
It comes after ‘EastEnders’ was dropped from Fridays in a bid to create a more simplified schedule, as it will now air from Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm.
BBC’s head of continuing drama said in a statement: “We’re delighted that, from 7th March, there will be new regular time slots for ‘EastEnders’ on BBC One, and ‘Doctors’ on BBC Two.
“Both shows have a loyal following; and this new simplified schedule means it’s even easier for viewers to get their fix, as well as being able to watch whenever and wherever they choose on iPlayer.
“A 7pm time slot gives a whole new audience chance to enjoy the drama in Leatherbridge; while EastEnders’ new 7.30pm slot begins with a hugely exciting week, as killer Gray Atkins is finally exposed.”
‘EastEnders’ will be going head-to-head with ITV’s ‘Emmerdale’, and ‘Coronation Street’ will air three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in three hour-long episodes at 8pm.
The news comes after BBC had confirmed last year that medical soap ‘Holby City’ was being cancelled this year after 23 years on air.

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy May Cooper struggled to control her character’s horse on new show ‘The Witchfinder’.
The ‘This Country’ star will be playing Thomasine in the upcoming BBC comedy alongside Tim Key, but she found it tough to get equine Bram under control on the show and jokingly branded the four-legged beast a “little b*****d” and the “biggest a*****e” in the cast.
She said: “There is a horse called Bram and he is a little, well I’m swearing, he’s a little b*****d. Basically, he’s so intelligent this horse that I have to ride. Between takes he goes to eat the grass and the trainers will say, ‘No Bram, just wait until we’ve finished the scene then you can eat the grass.’
“This horse pretends to itch his leg and then last minute will just like go and grab a bit of grass. That blows my mind. And he knows that I’m an amateur rider because I had never ridden horses until this show and he knows it, so he’ll start playing up and start being a bit of a bugger, cause they’re just so bloody intelligent. The biggest a******e in this cast is a horse.”
The new show will follow the story of a Witchfinder (Tim Key) and his captive (Daisy May Cooper) on a trip throughout England that’s been ravaged by civil war, famine and plague.
Daisy, 35, teased fans they can expect some “amazing” cameos from stars including ‘Eric and Ernie’ star Daniel Rigby, ‘The League of Gentlemen’ actor Reece Shearsmith, and ‘The Royle Family’ legend Ricky Tomlinson, among others.
She added: “We’ve got amazing cameos. We’ve got Jessica Hynes, who has got these dodgy teeth made and she looks completely mental and she’s just one of the funniest people.
“She makes this character of Myers, just, I mean she’s made it her own, and it’s mad, and it’s brilliant.
“You’ve got Daniel Rigby playing Hebble and he’s just such a brilliant actor, really funny, and I quite fancy him a bit. Do you know what? It’s really funny, all of the crew really fancy him. Because of his hair, it’s the long wig that he wears. For some reason it’s the wig and the cloak, there’s something very appealing about it.”
‘The Witchfinder’ (6 x 30’) launches on March 8th on BBC Two and will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kimberly Hart-Simpson manifested a ‘Coronation Street’ return.
The 34-year-old actress mapped out all of her dreams onto a vision board the day she got the call to reprise her role of former sex worker Nicky Wheatley, who played havoc with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Daisy Midgley (Charlotte Jordan) in 2020.
Kimberly told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “I like vision boards and on the day that I got the call for ‘Corrie’, I had made a vision board including the 10 things that I wanted in my life at that time – and ‘Corrie’ went back on there. Within two hours, I got the call to ask if I wanted to go back.”
The ‘Mount Pleasant’ star first teased her return to the cobbles in December, writing on Instagram: “She’s back! @coronationstreet 2022!!! (sic)”
She added: “Return of the side-eye.”
Recently, Kimberly shared another update on social media, a selfie of her wearing a red ITV branded puffer jacket.
She added the caption: “always thought I would make a good red coat. Good to be back. (sic)”
The star also she volunteers for the British Heart Foundation, a charity that helped save her sister Emma’s life.
Kimberly said: “The charity have done a big volunteering drive as the numbers of shop volunteers they had fell after lockdown, so I’ve been doing it around my schedule and it’s become a home from home to me.
“It’s lovely chatting to customers coming in. You meet the best people.
“I’ve gone to their shops near me for years, not just to shop but to chat with the staff because I became friends with them.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Max George has joined ‘The Games’.
The Wanted singer is said to have signed up to the ITV show as a replacement for Mark Wright, who recently departed the programme.
Mark is married to ‘Our Girl’ star Michelle Keegan, who was previously engaged to Max.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Max has been drafted in to replace Mark on the show and it’s caused a real stir.
“For some it’s become a joke behind the scenes at ITV. If they can’t have Michelle Keegan’s husband – they’ll have her former fiancé.”
The ITV sports challenge show – which is also due to feature actor ‘Coronation Street’ actor Colson Smith, and former ‘Love Island’ star Wes Nelson, among others – was previously known as ‘The Real 2022 Games’ and has been pushed back a number of times due to the pandemic.
The show is expected to be hosted by Freddie Flintoff and Holly Willoughby, and the likes of Christine McGuinness are also said to have been in talks.
In December, a source said: “The makers of [‘The Games’] are casting the stars at the moment and they have been in discussions with Christine about the possibility of her taking part.
“Christine is becoming a really popular telly star and at the moment she is seriously in demand.
“As a character, Christine has such an interesting back story as a working mum to three children with autism, and bosses know that viewers would relate to her.
“Christine is also incredibly physically fit and would be up for all the challenges the series would put her through.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dita Von Teese wants to compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The burlesque star – who was The Beetroot on last year’s ‘The Masked Dancer’ – would jump at the chance to take part in the BBC Latin and ballroom contest and would push herself very hard.
She said: “I would love to be on your ‘Strictly’ and I’m ready to win.”
The 49-year-old beauty recently competed on the French version of the show, ‘Danse avec les Stars’ but had to drop out of the competition because of an infection, though she was having a great time until then.
She said: “My favourite dances were the Latin ones, especially the Argentine tango.
“I only had five days to prepare as when I arrived in Paris I was diagnosed with Covid and had to self-isolate.
“That made me even more determined to do well and I received high scores.”
And Dita warned she shouldn’t be underestimated because she already downplays her dancing skills to make her burlesque shows look more impressive.
She explained to HELLO! magazine: “It has to look effortless. I dance below my ability so that I don’t seem to be struggling or trying too hard.”
The raven-haired beauty previously joked she’d be open to a ‘Masked Stripper’ TV competition – and predicted she would win.
When asked if it feels more comfortable performing burlesque than she did dancing as Beetroot on ‘The Masked Dancer’, she said: “Obviously, I feel so much more comfortable.
“If this were ‘The Masked Stripper’ I would’ve won it. I’m all for that show.
“It was hard for me. One of the reasons I became a burlesque dancer is because I was a ballet dancer, but not a very good one.
“So that’s how I came to burlesque.”
Despite being “very excited” to take part in ‘The Masked Dancer’, Dita admitted it was a “source of stress” taking her heavy Beetroot head off.
She said: “It was a big source of stress for me taking that head off, because I had all these wires and things in my ears and my hair.
“It was like, ‘Oh my God, how am I going to do that part?’ After all the dancing, that was actually the hard part.
“But it was a lot of fun. I could not turn away a job like this, especially after a year and a half of hiatus from all showbusiness.
“It was very exciting to do something like this during the pandemic.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw are joining forces to host ‘The Great Home Transformation’.
The ‘Voice’ host and the former BBC Radio 1 DJ have landed a new gig at Channel 4 on the new show, which will see family homes transformed in just three days.
Sharing the news on Instagram alongside a promo shot of him and Emma, Nick, 37, wrote: “Ooooooh I am so excited to announce that me and @emmawillisofficial are joining forces for a brand new series on @channel4.
“As you know I am obsessed with all things design so cannot wait for you to see how we are gonna be transforming family homes across the UK.
“The Great Home Transformation is coming to your screens this spring.”
News of Emma’s latest hosting role comes days after she called for ‘Big Brother’ to return.
The 45-year-old TV star presented ‘Big Brother’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ between 2013 and 2018, as well as the spin-off series ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ between 2011 and 2015.
And like Rylan Clark, who won the 2013 celebrity series and also hosted ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’, Emma would love to see the reality show back on screens in the UK.
She said: “Everybody wants it back!
“I think it will come back when it’s ready, maybe it’s not ready yet.
“If you’re gonna do it again, you’ve got to do it fantastically well.
She added: “Hopefully, there’s somebody beavering away somewhere that is coming up with an amazing plan for it, but I don’t know anything about it if they are!”
The last UK series aired in 2018, but an Australian spin-off of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ was made available on E4 this month.
The news prompted Rylan to tweet: “Amazing news…… NOW BRING OURS BACK.”
The 33-year-old star, who also presented the main series of ‘CBB’, urged for the return of the popular programme when the UK was plunged into a third coronavirus pandemic lockdown in 2021.
He wrote on Twitter at the time: “Surely now is the time we all need a bit of Celebrity Big Brother (sic)”
The former ‘Supermarket Sweep’ host had previously called for ‘Big Brother’ to be picked up by the likes of streaming services Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes doesn’t miss daytime TV “at all”.
The former ‘This Morning’ presenter now co-hosts GB News show ‘Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel’ alongside Isabel Webster, and he is relishing the opportunity to front breaking news coverage again.
When asked if he misses daytime TV, he said: “No, not at all. I really am excited with the whole breaking news environment and being involved in that. I think the first six, seven weeks now of GB News, goodness me there’s been a lot going on between Partygate and the Ukraine situation.
“It just is always happening, you don’t really have time to stop and think about it.”
Eamonn also admitted it is “nice to be appreciated” on the channel with people who “want you to be there”.
Speaking to Steph McGovern on ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’, he added: “It’s just a tremendous privilege, Steph, to be involved in something that you want to do.
“They say if you do something you love you never work a day in your life, and it’s nice to be appreciated. It’s nice to be with people who want you to be there. It’s nice to feel that you are contributing.”
The 62-year-old star’s comments come after he blasted ITV and Phillip Schofield last month, claiming he was “dropped” by the channel, but he says they tried to make it look as if he had quit for GB News.
He said: “No one explained anything to me. I’m all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going.
“They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.
“They had a chat with my agent and announced that I was going to GB News when they’d done no more than ask if I’d be interested in joining them.
“I’m not going to have myself derided as some sort of has-been. I may be male and pale but I’m still at the top of my game.”
Eamonn – who previously co-hosted ITV’s Friday edition of ‘This Morning’ with his wife Ruth Langsford and covered for Phil and Holly Willoughby during their absences – also hit out at Phillip for interrupting Ruth on air back in 2019.
He said: “Phillip is renowned for snubbing people. He’s very passive-aggressive. It’s up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her. No one would have snubbed me like that.
“I have a good Belfast street fighter in me … I would be direct. I don’t go for presenters who think they have a special privilege or aura or influence.”
