OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T Davies is among the stars to praise Mark Charnock for his portrayal on last night’s ‘Emmerdale’, after his character suffered a stroke.
The 53-year-old soap star, who plays Marlon Dingle in the ITV show, was congratulated by several actors over his depiction of his loveable chef character suffering a stroke on Monday night’s (21.03.22) episode.
Russell wrote on Instagram: “Emmerdale tells its big stories so perfectly. Devastating tonight, @markchcarnock is one of our greatest actors. Episode written by Caroline Mitchell, directed by Michael Lacey. Amazing sound design too!. (sic)”
The hard-hitting scenes saw Marlon begin to feel unwell before looking over at a mirror and realising his face had drooped to one side, and he later collapsed to the floor unable to move.
He was found by daughter April Windsor – played by Amelia Flanagan – who called the paramedics.
Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Nicola Stephenson, who played Tess Harris, added: “One of the loveliest places I’ve ever worked. All the cast and crew are so dedicated, hard working, talented, supportive and fun. And Mark is one of the best there is. Love him. (sic)”
What’s more, Casualty’s Michael Stevenson wrote: “Really amazing sound design. Great ep.”
Emotional fans also took to Twitter to praise Mark for his touching performance.
One fan tweeted: “Blooming heck @markcharnock what amazing acting it’s a right blub fest in our house tonight, mostly the hubby! Seriously well done on highlighting this, hopefully more than a few lives can be saved by recognising the signs of a stroke #marlon #emmerdale. (sic)””
Another added: “Poor Marlon. This will raise a lot of awareness for strokes and how quick they can happen time is critical now #Emmerdale. (sic)”
One said: “Wow that was emotional for me personally to watch I’ve lost a relative to a stroke in 2016.. it’s horrible and it can kill in literally seconds, minutes even hours.. “not my face” I heard Marlon say sure of it.. great acting by @markcharnock #Emmerdale. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanna and Tom Fletcher have delayed plans to renew their wedding vows.
The couple – who share kids Buzz, eight, Buddy, six, and three-year-old Max – will celebrate 10 years of marriage later this year, and they are now planning to have a big celebration in 2025, when they both turn 40 years old.
The 37-year-old star said: “Our anniversary is only a couple of months away now. We’ve been so busy that we’re already pushing it back and thinking maybe we do something the year that we turn 40 for those big birthdays and for our 13th anniversary.
“This year, I think we’ll do some sort of party, or maybe just us. Maybe we’ll get the kids to renew our vows in the garden.
“A couple of our friends got married three years ago and the kids didn’t go to that, so we re-enacted the ceremony for them and we all had different roles. I was hosting the ceremony, Tom was a photographer, another friend was the florist. The kids literally sat on their toy seats and they absolutely loved watching this little wedding ceremony.
“They just thought it was the best thing ever. So maybe something really basic and simple like that in the garden.”
Giovanna has also opened up about motherhood, admitting one of the toughest things she has dealt with is sleep depravation.
She added to HELLO! magazine: “I think sleep is one of the most difficult things to navigate.
“But it’s emotionally, physically, mentally draining, night after night. And we all need sleep. We all function better if we sleep.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Kamara is taking a temporary break from live TV due to a speech disorder.
The ‘Soccer Saturday’ reporter is best known nowadays for his live football reports on the Sky Sports show, during which he often belts out his catchphrase “unbelievable, Jeff” to the programme’s host Jeff Stelling.
But the former footballer admitted live broadcasting will have to “take a back seat” for now, after he developed neurological disorder apraxia, a motor speech condition that affects brain pathways involved in producing speech.
Chris – who is affectionately known as Kammy – tweeted: “Thank you so much to everyone for your best wishes
“Twitter can be a wonderful platform The response about my Apraxia has been overwhelming
“Unfortunately for you viewers this is not the end of me but “Live TV” might have to take a back seat at the moment. Thank you (sic)”
It comes after Kammy – who was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, also known as Underactive Thyroid disease, in June last year – was inundated with well wishes after he told supporters about the disorder, which is caused by thyroid issues.
The 64-year-old star left his fans concerned for his health following his slurred speech on ‘Soccer Saturday’ last weekend, and he took to Twitter to address supporters directly about their concerns, revealing his slurred speech is caused after he developed apraxia.
He posted: “Just wanted to let a few of you know who tweeted me today that I am ok-ish. Alongside my Thyroid problem I have developed Apraxia of Speech have been working to get my speech back to normal.
“Some days it can be a little slow and some days it’s normal. Hopefully I can beat this!”
Jeff tweeted his pal: “You still bring life, energy, fun and understanding to all your reports. We all love you, pal Keep going!”
Kammy – who will be providing commentary on new ITV reality show ‘The Games’ – admitted he suffered from brain fog and slurred speech for two years before going to get help, because he was in denial.
He previously said in a YouTube video: “Embarrassment, stubbornness, head in the sand. Didn’t want to believe what was going on in my body, in my mind.
“Even though people were saying along the way ‘he’s not his normal self’ I would just bat it away and say, ‘No, I’m fine.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne says it will be a “real honour” to captain England at this year’s ‘Soccer Aid’.
The former One Direction star is preparing to lead out the star-studded football team – which includes new recruits, ‘Emily in Paris’ star Lucien Laviscount and comedian Alex Brooker – on Sunday 12 June to support UNICEF, adding to the £60 million raised for children all over the world since the competition began in 2006.
The 28-year-old pop star said: “It doesn’t get much better than captaining England in ‘Soccer Aid’ while fundraising for UNICEF.
“I can’t believe I get to run out onto the pitch with some of my heroes all while raising money for such a great cause. To be given the captain’s armband is a real honour and I’m determined to lead us to victory.”
Along with playing in the charity matches, pop legend Robbie Williams – who doubles as a UNICEF UK Ambassador – claims his half-time performance on the day will be one of the “most special nights” of his career.
The 48-year-old singer said: “I already know that it is going to be one of the most special nights of my career – and I want as many of you as possible to be part of it.
“Tickets are selling fast, so I would urge people to snap them up while they are still available. In so doing, people will be supporting Soccer Aid for UNICEF, which has raised £60m since we started it 16 years ago.”
The World XI team will be captained by Olympic champion Usain Bolt, and he loves the “special energy” of the annual match against England, who will include Tom Grennan, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Fara Williams, Joe Cole and David Seaman.
The 35-year sprinter said: “The crowd were amazing every time I competed there and created a special energy and atmosphere. I look forward to returning in June to play again for the Soccer Aid World XI FC.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ star Brooke Kinsella is pregnant with her second child.
The 38-year-old actress – who played Kelly Taylor for three years from 2001 to 2004 – has announced she and her husband Simon Boardley are to welcome a sibling into their family for their daughter Elsie and they are completely overjoyed.
Sharing the happy news with OK!, Brooke said: “It’s all kisses for now … Here we go again Simon Boardley.”
Brooke – who married Simon, 43, in 2017 – made no secret that she wanted more kids following the birth of her daughter 18 months ago.
She told OK! magazine: “I come from a really big family and I’m so close to my siblings.
“Having someone to go through life with is really important and I’d love to give Elsie that. There’s plenty of room in our home for another little one.
“We’re not getting any younger, so obviously we need to think about these things, but I’m not in a rush.
“I want to enjoy Elsie as a first-time mum and give her all the love and support that she needs. We’ll leave it up to the universe and see what happens.”
Brooke experienced tragedy in her life when her younger brother Ben Kinsella was stabbed to death in 2008 when he was just 16 years old.
The actress – who founded the Ben Kinsella Trust in his memory and has been awarded an MBE for her charity work – previously admitted that it was “heartbreaking” for her that her daughter Elsie would never meet her uncle.
She said: “It’s a double-edged sword. Being Elsie’s mum is everything I’ve ever wanted, but on the other hand I can’t help but think about everyone who isn’t here to meet her. For me, the main person missing out is Ben.
“Obviously, I love Elsie more than anything and having loved Ben so much as well it’s heartbreaking to know the two of them will never get the chance to meet.”
Back in 2018, Brooke assisted the team on ‘EastEnders’ during their research for a knife crime storyline which saw the character Shakil Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi) stabbed to death by a gang member.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Evans has “less anxiety” now he doesn’t own a mobile phone.
The 55-year-old TV presenter first ditched his cell in 2019 and believes that smartphones are a “massive time thief” and he insists doing away with the gadget has boosted his mental health.
He said: “Even if someone says they’re not going to check their phone for an hour, they’re still thinking about when that hour is up … so you’re still thinking about it. It’s the whole ‘don’t mention monkeys, don’t mention monkeys, don’t mention monkeys’ thing. It’s both a massive time thief and a massive focus one. I have less anxiety without one — it’s that ping of uncertainty.”
The former ‘Big Breakfast’ star went on to explain that the technological advancements in mobile phones “scared the s***” out of him”, which inspired him to ditch his phone altogether.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: “Phones have changed so much [in the past three years], but you don’t realise it because you’ve become so accustomed to the micro-doses of the updates.
“It’s you against Silicon Valley but Silicon Valley is hidden behind the screen. It scared the s*** out of me. No thank you.”
Chris – who has children Noah, Nicolas and Eli Alfred with wife Natasha Shishmanian – went on to reveal that none of his young children have mobile phones, claiming that 13-year-old Noah is the only kid in his school without one.
He said: “Noah is the only kid in his year without a phone. He turned 13 a couple of weeks ago so we discussed it, and got him a device and let him download WhatsApp.
“But then immediately something happened — there was a bump in the road — and he came off it. It’s like stopping drinking. You can always start again but you can never undrink what you’ve drunk. Noah is different, and a better conversationalist for it. If you’re not on the phone as a kid, you’re a more present kid.
“I don’t understand how kids learn things now because the phone doesn’t want you to stick on something for too long — it wants to give you another advert for the next thing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams thinks that comedy is a form of control.
The 50-year-old TV star – who is best known for creating and starring in the BBC sketch show ‘Little Britain’ alongside Matt Lucas in the early 2000s – believes that comedians tend to take themselves more seriously when compared to rock stars because a comedian’s “worst fear” is to be laughed at when they’re not in control of the joke.
He said: “[Fellow comedian] Ben Miller is a friend of mine and he said the comedian’s worst fear is being laughed at. I guess doing comedy is a way of controlling people laughing at you so you make it that you are part of the joke. Perhaps if you’re unusual looking, or you have been mocked for some reason, or you are often drawn to comedy because you think, ‘OK, maybe I can harness this.’ When I dance, normally people laugh. I’m not trying to be funny, I’m just trying to dance. I realised there’s something ludicrous about me that I can’t help.”
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has reunited with former co-star Matt, 48, as part of this year’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day telethon and the pair have revived their 1990s sketch show ‘Rock Profile’ which sees the funnymen dress up as music stars and stage a series of spoof interviews, this time parodying the likes of Miley Cyrus, Billie Elish and Lewis Capaldi for the charitable cause.
David told the Metro newspaper: “We wanted to do new characters. Obviously quite a few people have become famous in the music world since we last did the show so it seemed only right that we should move it on. It’s good to be doing something again with Matt and it’s great to be doing something for Comic Relief. You have to make them as funny as you can. You get the fun stuff and then you get asked for money.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dawn French wishes she could “screw off” her huge “bouncy” breasts.
The 64-year-old comedian – who is married to charity executive Marl Bignell and was previously wed to Comic Relief founder Lenny Henry – has gigantic 42G boobs and although she is “very fond” of them, the sheer size of her mammaries do cause her problems in her day-to-day life.
Speaking on the ‘Finding the Funny’ podcast, she shared: “I’m very, very fond of my t***, I love them, I’ve very fond of them, they’re big, they’re bouncy, they are a little playground for me and others to enjoy but I sort of wish they could screw on and screw off. So you can have them when you need them, or when they’re desired. ”
Listing the things her boobs stop her from doing, she added: “I haven’t been able to do running since I was about six when they turned up. I’ve never been able to wear a spaghetti strap dress because I have to wear a big thick bra.”
Dawn also has to live in discomfort because she cannot find a bra that can contain her bountiful bosom without causing her discomfort.
She said: “Nobody, but nobody, makes a bra that is comfortable, nobody. I’ve tried all of them. I’ve tried expensive ones, cheap ones, the ones that they say are miracle ones, the non-wire, the under-wire, every evening I want to get it off me.
“There are just days when I wish they weren’t there and other days when I’m very glad they are.”
‘The Vicar of Dibley’ star – who first found fame as one half of a comedy double act with Jennifer Saunders – also has an issue with excessive breast sweat and she has to apply talcum powder underneath each boob each morning to prevent any chaffing and skin irritation.
She said: “I need talcum powder. Everybody who has big t**** knows this … I can’t go without it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness has criticised ‘Love Island’ for only having “drop dead gorgeous” contestants compared to his former dating show ‘Take Me Out’.
The 48-year-old presenter hosted the ITV programme from 2010 to 2019 and it featured guys trying to impress a bevy of women to get them to go on a date with them.
The girls had the power to turn off their lights if they didn’t fancy the fella and then if it got down to the last two the power was in the guy’s hands as he got to choose who he took on a date to the “Isle of Fernando’s” a fictional location based in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
Paddy believes the beauty of the programme was that it had normal lads and lasses, rather than the perfect contestants on ‘Love Island’.
Speaking on the TWS Sports Podcast, he said: “If you look at programmes like ‘Love Island’ now, where everyone is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, all the guys are full of muscles and they’ve got dead white teeth, and all the girls have got long hair and gorgeous bodies.
“’Take Me Out’ was more about everybody. There was all different shapes and sizes on ‘Take Me Out’, that’s what I loved about it, it wasn’t like everybody was perfect.
“The lads were all different types of lads. You’ve have lads who were dressed in white suits and just being really loud and crazy all round the stage. Then you would get other lads who were dead nervous and quiet but they’d slowly come out the shell as they did better during the game.
“Out in the world no one is perfect, that doesn’t exist so I’m glad ‘Take Me Out’ had all shapes and sizes.”
Paddy – who was famous for his catchphrase “no likey, no lighty” on the show – admits he got very close to the female contestants on ‘Take Me Out’ because he would film with them week after week until they got a date, and he used to feel protective over them like a “father figure”.
The ‘Top Gear’ star said: “Because I would do so many shows with the girls I would get to know them. You’re almost a bit gutted when they get a date because you become a bit of father figure to them, you’re putting your arm around them and having a laugh with them.
“We had a lot of fun making it.”
