Mission: Impossible 8 begins filming

OHMYGOSSIP — The eighth ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie has already begun filming.
Tom Cruise has reprised the role of Ethan Hunt for the eighth instalment of the long-running film franchise, Collider reports.
The Hollywood star shot ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ amid the COVID-19 pandemic and it was originally slated to premiere on September 30, 2022. But due to problems relating to the health crisis, its release has now been pushed back until July 14, 2023.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ has been made at a cost of $290 million, with tax incentives, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And the movie will appear on the Paramount+ streaming app 45 days after its theatrical release.
‘Mission: Impossible 8’, on the other hand, was originally due to premiere on July 7, 2023 – but it’s now been delayed until June 28, 2024.
The project features returning stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson, as well as newcomers Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, and Cary Elwes.
The timescales for the back-to-back productions were changed because of the pandemic, which created a huge amount of disruption throughout the movie industry.
Last year, Tom discussed the challenge of getting the production up and running amid the global health crisis.
The 59-year-old actor was determined to return to work, even though the pandemic threatened to derail his plans.
He said at the time: “I’ve produced 30 to 40 movies. I am responsible for thousands, if not tens of thousands, of jobs.
“All my friends in the industry, people that are in distribution, and my crew were like, ‘What are we going to do? I could lose my house!’ So I told the studio and I told the industry, ‘We’re going back. We’re going to get everyone back to work. We’re going to start shooting in the summer. And we’re going to figure out how to do it safely.'”

Ross Kemp: Drunk fans try and test me

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ actor Ross Kemp says drunk fans either want to fight him or hug him when they meet.
The 57-year-old star is regularly recognised when he goes out by fans who love him for his hard-hitting documentaries and for his role as Grant Mitchell in the BBC One soap and some guys when they are under the influence want to prove to him how tough they are.
Ross – who is hosting new BBC game show ‘Bridge Of Lies’ – said: “If they’ve been in the pub all day they want to give you a hug or they may want to give you a little bit of a tap.
“I went out to watch some rugby on a Friday night and there were blokes out there who were up for showing me how tough they were and there were also ones who wanted to give me a big hug and cry on my shoulder.
“In that particular environment where alcohol has been taken it can manifest itself in two very different forms of affection.”
Ross always has time for his fans, even when they can be over-zealous, and he can recall only ever refusing one selfie request and that’s because the guy was rude and swore at him.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “Generally, most people are really nice. I’ve only ever turned down one selfie and that was because somebody went, ‘Oh, you, give me a f***ing selfie.’ I went, ‘Not today, my friend.’
“In general it’s just a wave, a nod and a smile. If you don’t know someone you don’t want to be getting into a 20-minute conversation when you’ve got to get the shopping before the kids need to be put in the bath.”
Despite his extensive TV career, Ross recently admitted that hosting new game show ‘Bridge of Lies’ was a challenge because he couldn’t “hide” behind a character.
Ross – who played hard man Grant Mitchell on ‘EastEnders’ on-and-off from 1990 until 2016 – said: “You can’t be like somebody else.
“If you play a character like Grant Mitchell you can hide behind the leather jacket, the Neanderthal-type walk, but as a host you have to be yourself.
“It’s not necessarily where I thought I’d be but you know what? I loved it. It was very different from the rest of the year.
“At my age, rule everything in, rule nothing out.”

GMB’s Dr Amir Khan travels to Poland to see medical problems facing Ukraine refugees

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr Amir Khan has travelled to Poland to see the medical problems facing the newly-displaced refugees from Ukraine.
The doctor, who often appears on ‘Good Morning Britain’, has told how medics are “working around the clock” in the country to help the 6,000 refugees a day who are fleeing Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.
Speaking on ‘GMB’ via Poland, he said: “The scale of it, unless you’ve been here, is hard to imagine. There’s 6,000 people coming through here every single day from Ukraine.
“Their immediate needs are being met – food, water, shelter, safety – then we open up the health needs.
“Many of them have been travelling for days, they’ve been on packed buses, viruses, diarrhoea, infestations like scabies and lice are common – all of these are being treated by the medics.
“There’s lots of chest infections, people with chronic diseases need their medication. The medics are working round the clock here.”
Dr Khan has called for other nations to do more to help Ukraine.
He added: “We can’t just rely on the countries that border Ukraine – it has to go wider.”
This comes after ‘GMB’ guest host Robert Rinder recently headed to Poland to bring 52 Ukrainian children to the UK.
He wrote on Instagram this week: “They are here. 52 orphaned Ukrainian children are checked in, onboard, and now ready to fly to a safe haven in the UK.
Thank you all!

Parker Posey set to star in The Parenting

OHMYGOSSIP — Parker Posey has joined the cast of ‘The Parenting’.
The 53-year-old actress will star alongside Brian Cox, Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, and Dean Norris in the new comedy movie, which centres on a young gay couple who host a meeting of their parents during a weekend in the country.
Parker will play the manager of the country house, while Brian, Edie, Lisa and Dean will star as the parents.
The Craig Johnson-directed project will also feature up-and-coming stars Nik Dodani and Brandon Flynn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie has been written by Kent Sublette and will begin shooting in Massachusetts in March.
Chris Bender and Jake Weiner of Good Fear Content are producing the comedy, which is intended for HBO Max.
Meanwhile, Parker previously claimed that changes within the film industry have stunted her career.
The ‘Cafe Society’ star is known for her work in independent movies, rather than big-budget Hollywood films, and she confessed that acting work has become increasingly hard to come by in recent years.
She reflected: “I’ve never really got any of the jobs that I had to really jump through hoops for.
“That’s been disappointing. It’s just a numbers thing now, too. What’s that expression? ‘You’re only as great as the last film you did.’ It’s still kind of true. And none of my independent movies made money, so it became like, ‘Why hire her?’
“Except for Wes Craven, I guess, or something like ‘Josie and the Pussycats’. That was when they were like, ‘Ooh, let’s get a character actor in there who’s kind of dark.'”

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean kept in the dark over Dancing on Ice stars’ Boleros

OHMYGOSSIP — Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won’t see the final two ‘Dancing on Ice’ pairings’ Boleros until the show’s final.
The ITV ice skating programme’s latest series will come to a conclusion on Sunday (27.03.22) with the last two couples in the finale – out of finalists Brendan Cole, Kimberley Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne and their pro skater partners – due to re-create Torvill and Dean’s iconic routine, but the performances are being kept a secret from the judges.
Christopher said: “They’ve been hiding them away from us. That’ll be the first we see it.”
While the third-placed pairing won’t get to show off their Bolero in the live final, Christopher revealed it will still be recorded and shown at some point.
He added: “They get to perform it on the Sunday and record it; so they will do it in some form and I think that gets released, but not live on the show.”
Christopher also admitted this year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ series has been the “best” ever.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: “It’s been the biggest and best [series] I have to say.”
Torvill and Dean became household names when they won gold medals at the 1984 Winter Olympics for their iconic Bolero performance.
The pair recently admitted this year’s series has featured the “highest standard” of celebrity skaters than ever before.
Jayne said: “The masterclass we had back in October, was the most high standard we’ve had in any series.
“Certainly there were at least six that we have our eye on at the moment that could be winners.”

Lucy Mecklenburgh felt guilty time for herself

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Mecklenburgh used to “feel guilty” about doing anything for herself when her son was born.
The Results With Baby founder – who has two-year-old Roman with partner Ryan Thomas and is pregnant with her second child – thinks there is too much pressure on mothers to be “selfless” and so, ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday (27.03.22), called for mums to acknowledge what they’d really like on the special day.
She said: “When I first became a mum I was surprised how guilty you can feel for doing anything selfless.
“Literally, anything I did for myself I felt bad about, whether that was to take time to make myself a healthy lunch or fit in a 15 minute home workout, or put my makeup on.
“It’s an amazing time becoming a mum, and let’s be honest, we wouldn’t change it for the world, but I think there is so much pressure on mums to be selfless.
“I think it’s so important that we, as mums, acknowledge what we would really love because, while we love our children more than anything, it’s so important that we get that tiny bit of time each day to do something for us to still feel just a little bit human.
“Even if that is just throwing on some makeup or eating a proper lunch.
“I really believe that a happy mum makes a happy baby and that involves looking after ourselves with fitness, good nutrition, time to socialise and the right support.”
To highlight the cause, Lucy has created a funny video alongside friends including Frankie Bridge and Lydia Bright showing how they’d like to do some things undisturbed.
In the clip, Lucy tries desperately to put on her make-up, while Roman hits her with a tub of moisturiser, Frankie begs for a lie in while her sons Carter and Parker, and their family dog Turbo, jump out from under the covers, and Lydia’s trip to the salon isn’t as relaxing as she’d like because her daughter Loretta is in her lap while she gets her hair washed.
Lucy said: “This video is just a bit of fun to show all mums that they are not alone, we all feel EXACTLY the same, and we’ve all been there.
“Results With Baby is designed by mums for mums because we know EXACTLY what mums and mums-to-be really need.
“The workouts are short to fit into that tiny gap in your day, there are speedy mum meals – all under 5 minutes – and beige food recipes for pregnant women who just can’t stomach any food that isn’t beige!
“There is expert support from Midwives, GPs, Doctors, Nutritionists, Lactation Consultants, Parenting Experts, Sleep Experts and more – because I know first hand how important it is to feel empowered and confident as a mum.
“We might not be able to guarantee you a lie in…. but mums, we’ve got everything else you need covered.”
The idea for the video was born after Results Wellness Lifestyle asked 1400 of it’s mum members “If they could have anything, what would they really want on Mother’s Day”.
90 per cent said they would love a lie in, 67 per cent wanted an hour or more of alone time and 40 per cent admitted their ultimate treat would be having someone else plan dinners for a week.

Louisa Lytton’s return to EastEnders is ‘up in the air’

OHMYGOSSIP — Louisa Lytton’s ‘EastEnders’ future is “up in the air”.
The 33-year-old actress, who plays Ruby Allen in the BBC soap, has been enjoying motherhood since going on maternity leave in July last year and welcoming her baby daughter, Aura, in August alongside her partner Ben Bhanvra – but the star isn’t sure whether she will be returning to Albert Square.
She told The Sun Online: “Yeah, I’m not sure at the moment, everything is sort of up in the air. I just don’t know.
“Now that I’ve had a baby, that’s the priority.”
The actress has been so busy taking care of her daughter that she hasn’t even had time to watch any TV.
She added: “I don’t have time to watch TV at the moment, I watched it to get back into it after 15 years but I’m just too busy now,
“Mum life is really good, she’s seven months now. It’s my first Mother’s Day, it’s just flown by.
“It’s what I’ve always dreamed of, I waited a very long time for it, I just love every minute at the moment.”
The soap star, who originally planned for a water birth, had to have an emergency C-section.
But that hasn’t put Louisa off the idea of having more kids.
She recently said: “I’m an only child so I’ve said I’d like more than one. Ben has two siblings, so he’s always said three or four, although I don’t think that’s going to happen!”
Ben added: “We’d definitely like another one at some point but we’re not thinking about that just yet.”

Jason Donovan feels sad over Neighbours axe and thinks show should be celebrated

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Donovan is sad over Neighbours’ axing, but thinks the show should be celebrated.
The 53-year-old actor, who starred in the Australian soap from 1986 to 1989 as Scott Robinson, alongside Kylie Minogue, 53 – said people should be grateful for everything the programme has given them.
Jason is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “It has kept my family employed for a long time, to be honest. My daughter is currently in it, my dad was in it. We should be grateful for what it’s given Australia, given actors, producers, writers and directors.”
The star’s daughter Jemma Donovan is currently starring as Harlow Robinson in the soap.
Channel 5 officially confirmed earlier in February that they were dropping the soap, which first aired in 1985, as production costs were too expensive and they’d rather allow funding to be focused on original UK dramas instead.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 said at the time: “’Neighbours’ will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer.
“It’s been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade, and we’d like to thank the cast, Fremantle and all of the production team for their fantastic work on this iconic series.
“We’d also of course like to thank the fans for their loyal support of Neighbours across the years.
“We recognise that there will be disappointment about this decision, however, our current focus is on increasing our investment in original UK drama, which has strong appeal for our viewers.”
Since Channel 5’s announcement, ‘Neighbours’ – which has helped launch the careers of many Hollywood stars, such as Margot Robbie – has confirmed the show is to end.
A message on the programme’s official Twitter account read: “We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June.
“Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show.
“To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high.
“From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours.”

Gemma Chan to play Anna May Wong in new biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Chan is set to star in a biopic of Anna May Wong.
The 39-year-old actress and producer Nina Yang Bongiovi are joining forces with Working Title Films to develop a biopic of Hollywood’s first Chinese American movie star.
Looking forward to the project, Gemma – who starred in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ in 2018 – said: “Anna May Wong was a trailblazer, an icon and a woman ahead of her time.
“Her talent and her exploration of her art both in and outside of the US was groundbreaking – and the challenges and prejudice she faced in the early 20th century as an actress speak directly to the conversations and the world we are navigating today.”
Wong’s niece, Anna Wong, is working as a consultant on the film, and she’s “delighted” to be involved with the project.
She said: “I’m delighted that I’ll get to build on my aunt’s legacy with Gemma and Nina, who are Asian leaders in the forefront of storytelling.
“Anna May Wong’s presence in American and worldwide cinema was the first of its kind, and her representation continues to resonate today. She is the embodiment of inspiration for artists of colour.”
Meanwhile, Gemma previously observed that Asian women playing on-screen protagonists is a “fairly recent thing”.
The London-born star – whose parents emigrated from Hong Kong – said: “It’s only a fairly recent thing that Asian females have been able to be the protagonists of stories.
“Individual successes are one thing. But structurally, when you look at who can actually get projects green-lit in the UK, who are in those positions of power, those gate-keeping positions – there aren’t that many Asians.
“There aren’t many people of colour in those positions.”

Actors aren’t allowed to complain, says Leslie Mann

OHMYGOSSIP — Leslie Mann feels “actors aren’t allowed to complain”.
The 49-year-old actress believes it’s unfair how much the profession is ridiculed – but she still acknowledges that it’s a “great job”.
Leslie – who is married to director Judd Apatow – told the Guardian newspaper: “It totally is [unfair], but actors aren’t allowed to complain.
“You just have to suck it up and keep it to yourself. I can’t say anything, because people would hate my guts. At the end of the day, it’s a great job and we’re lucky to have it. And that’s all you can to say. Leslie will get into trouble.”
The actress stars in the new comedy film ‘The Bubble’, which is directed by her husband.
The movie focuses on the challenge of living amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and Judd, 54, accepts that making a film about the health crisis is a risky move.
Asked why other filmmakers have been reluctant to tackle the issue, he explained: “It just ruins everything with storytelling! No one wants to watch Idris Elba do a new season of ‘Luther’ wearing a mask. This is our nightmare as consumers.
“So I just thought: if I do it, I’ll do it 100 percent. Be dumb enough to try. Maybe I’ve done something people enjoy or maybe I’ve made a terrible mistake.”
Judd’s new movie was bankrolled by Netflix and he accepts that streaming platforms are changing the face of the film industry.
He said: “They know the second you pause to go to the bathroom; if you watched the second half of the movie three days later, or never finished it. And it’s changing which movies are greenlit. They’re saying: oh, people love crime. People love when you murder people. People love kidnapping. People love swindlers. So, suddenly, you’ll see a lot of that.”

Nicola Coughlan’s ‘stressful’ final Derry Girls season

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Coughlan says filming the final season of ‘Derry Girls’ was “really stressful”.
The 35-year-old actress revealed that a combination of COVID-19 protocols and scheduling changes made filming quite stressful as she had to rush straight from filming ‘Bridgerton’ to the ‘Derry Girls’ set.
She told Radio Times: “I think, because it was filming in COVID and it was really stressful, I don’t know that we really processed it.
“It was weird. I think it’s a show that now it really feels like it belongs to the fans, if that make sense.
“It felt like a blur because I wrapped ‘Bridgerton’ on a Friday morning – [production company] Shondaland were really kind to me and compacted all my final [scenes] – and it was heavy going because it was all the big stuff for Penelope [Featherington].
“Wrapped on a Friday morning, flew on the Saturday, costume and makeup on the Sunday and into set with Derry Girls on a Monday. So my head was fried.
“But yeah, Shondaland, I’m eternally grateful that they kind of made that work and made it happen. The experience was a blur, but the scripts are great. They’re always great.”
Meanwhile, Nicola was recently forced to miss the ‘Bridgerton’ premiere after testing positive for COVID-19.
The actress took to Instagram to reveal she wouldn’t be in attendance at the big event in London to celebrate the second season.
Posting a picture of herself in a white robe with a towel wrapped around her head, she wrote: “My Bridgerton Premiere look- a little different than expected.
“So I’ve been struck down with Miss Rona and I’m missing our first premiere- heartbroken is an understatement but sending so much love to my gorgeous cast mates who I hope have the best night.”
The ‘Derry Girls’ star still got glammed up for the night, with crimson red lipstick, metallic eyeshadow and a gorgeous silver statement necklace.
She jokingly referred to her look as “infectious virus but make it fashion”.

Edith Bowman’s love for Cat Deeley

OHMYGOSSIP — Edith Bowman says she and Cat Deeley are “in love”.
The 48-year-old presenter has been close pals with Cat, 45, for years and she revealed that their close friendship has led to speculation they are in a lesbian relationship.
However, Edith – who is married to Editors frontman Tom Smith – laughed off the rumours, telling Angela Scanlon on her ‘Thanks A Million’ podcast: “Photographs of us kind of holding each other up, coming out of the Met bar or whatever was because we were p***** it wasn’t because we were like, licking each other’s faces off!
“And it was like, ‘Oh, Cat and Edith are in a lesbian relationship’.
“We were really good mates, and we are really good mates still. We are in love, but as friends kind of thing, It’s so bizarre.”
Edith and Tom have been together since 2005 and have children, Rudy and Spike together, while Cat married Patrick Kielty in 2012 and the couple have kids Milo and James.

J.K. Simmons’ ‘complete surprise’ at Batgirl role

OHMYGOSSIP — J.K. Simmons says his return to the role of Commissioner Gordon was a “complete surprise”.
The 67-year-old actor previously played the role in 2017’s ‘Justice League and will reprise his part for the upcoming ‘Batgirl’ movie.
He told A.frame: “[It] really came as a complete surprise that they wanted me to be that guy again.
“The tiny role that Commissioner Gordon played in Justice League was very businesslike and very, ‘Let’s see if we can stave off the end of the world!’ What appealed to me about this movie was from Jim Gordon’s point of voice, it’s really more a story about him as a guy and as a father and not just about the guy who’s turning on the Bat Signal and trying to keep the citizens of Gotham safe—although that’s obviously also a part of the story. But it was a chance to delve into a different aspect of the character.”
And he loved working with ‘In the Heights’ star Leslie Grace, who portrays Batgirl.
He said: “She brings so much to it. I completely agree about ‘In the Heights. She was really charming and compelling and charismatic in that—and she brings all of that to Batgirl in addition to pretty kickass stunt skills.”
‘Batgirl’ is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and will also feature Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser.

Ulrika Jonsson blasts Chloe Sims

OHMYGOSSIP — Ulrika Jonsson has blasted Chloe Sims.
The 54-year-old presented lashed out at the ‘TOWIE’ star after Chloe said she lies to her daughter Madison, 16, about her cosmetic procedures, telling her that the resulting bruises are from “falling down”.
Writing in The Sun newspaper, Ulrika said: “I’m not here to criticise, merely to observe.
“But her comments struck a worrying chord that resides deep in my parenting soul, and it’s that of dishonesty with our children.
“As a mother of four, I’ve always believed very firmly in being honest with my children — too honest sometimes.
“I have one daughter who shouts at me and storms off when I overshare. But that’s because the problem is with her obviously, and definitely not me.”
She went on to add: “It is baffling to hear Chloe say that her daughter does not need to know about what cosmetic procedures her mother has had.
“By the time you are 16 you’ve learnt a fair few things about life. And she has a mum in the public eye.
“With a cosmetically enhanced face and altered body like Chloe’s, there would have been a day when Mummy left the house with small boobs and came home with bigger ones.
“There would have been a time when her lips and bum were of average size but then were suddenly much inflated.
“Shielding your child from conversations about things that are physically life-changing is detrimental to both parent and child.
“It induces a damaging level of mistrust, suspicion and doubt.”
