Alec Baldwin ‘to make acting comeback in 2 Italian movies’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alec Baldwin is set to make his movie comeback in two Italian Christmas comedies, five months after the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of ‘Rust’.
The 63-year-old star and his brother William Baldwin are said to be heading to Italy to film live-action animation-comedies ‘Kid Santa’ and ‘Billie’s Magic World’.
According to Deadline, the Baldwins will appear in the live-action segments of the two movies.
Alec will join forces with filmmaker Francesco Cinquemani, who directed him in 2015 sci-fi film ‘Andron’.
Earlier this month, Alec insisted he is not “culpable” for Halyna’s death.
He has filed an arbitration demand claiming his contract protects him from financial responsibility in the death of the cinematographer, who was killed when a gun went off on the set of movie ‘Rust’ last October, and in the paperwork he stressed that the events leading up to the tragedy had nothing to do with him.
Court documents state: “This is a rare instance when the system broke down, and someone should be held legally culpable for the tragic consequences. That person is not Alec Baldwin.”
Alec – who is among the defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Halyna’s family – insisted he wasn’t “reckless” on the set, having previously denied pulling the trigger on the gun, and blamed armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and assistant director Dave Halls for telling him the weapon didn’t have live rounds, and also mentioned Seth Kenney, who had supplied the ammunition for the movie.
The arbitration demand sent to producers stated: “Immediately before the handoff to Baldwin, upon information and belief, Halls had taken the gun off a prop 2 cart after it had been loaded by the set’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the person responsible for gun safety and managing the operation of firearm-related props on the set.
“Reed claims to have personally checked all of the rounds to ensure that they weren’t ‘hot’ and then loaded them into the pistol. Halls ‘later told an investigator that, after [Reed] opened the gun for him to inspect, he did not check all of the rounds as he should have before he handed it to … Baldwin…
“At this point, two things are clear: someone is culpable for chambering the live round that led to this horrific tragedy, and it is someone other than Baldwin.
“Baldwin is an actor. He didn’t announce that the gun was ‘cold’ when it really contained a live round; he didn’t load the gun; he didn’t check the bullets in the gun; he didn’t purchase the bullets; he didn’t make the bullets and represent that they were dummies; he wasn’t in charge of firearm safety on the set; he didn’t hire the people who supplied the bullets or checked the gun; and he played no role in managing the movie’s props. Each of those jobs was performed by someone else.”
Alec dismissed reports he had refused weapons training on the set, and said he returned $100,000 of his $250,000 fee for the movie, but had wanted to complete the film to honour Halyna and also took it upon himself to “provide [the Hutchins family] redress for their loss”.

Neil Morrisey fears Men Behaving Badly isn’t ‘woke enough’ for reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Morrissey is up for a ‘Men Behaving Badly’ reboot, but he thinks the show “isn’t woke enough” to return.
The 59-year-old actor, who played womanising flatmate Tony Smart alongside Martin Clunes’ Gary Strang in the 90s series, thinks his character would have to become “completely woke” if a new series of the show was to ever materialise.
He said: “It’s all about the script. If Simon [Nye] writes something marvellous, we’d obviously have a look at it.
“I don’t know if we could make it again now, though. It’s not woke enough is it? Putting ladies’ underpants on my head … things like that.
“I guess Leslie [Ash] was objectified a bit by my character. But that was the point of it – that we were really rubbish, and they were really cool and smart. We were a couple of misogynist idiots who couldn’t keep a job, let alone a girlfriend.
“I don’t know if it would work [now], but it would be fun trying. The way to do it would be to have the wokeness involved, in that Tony is so PC it’s unbelievable. They would just have to have lapses after several beers on the sofa.”
The show, which ran for six seasons, also featured Leslie Ash, 62, as Deborah Burton and Caroline Quentin, 61, as Dorothy Bishop, the pair’s girlfriends.
It followed the story of Gary and Tony, who were also looking for any excuse to lounge around on their sofa and down cans of beer.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actor joked that him and the ‘Doc Martin’ star had discussed appearing on the show again, but admitted they would be demanding huge fees if a reboot did come about.
He told ‘The Convex Conversation’ podcast it would be a “retirement gig” for the pair.

Adam Thomas’ son Teddy joins Waterloo Road

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas’ son Teddy has joined ‘Waterloo Road’.
The 33-year-old star is to reprise his role as Donte Charles in the returning BBC drama series, and now his seven-year-old boy – who he shares with wife Caroline Thomas – has landed a part as his on-screen son, Tommy Charles.
A source said: “Adam could not be more thrilled to be acting alongside Teddy for the first time.
“Teddy auditioned for the part initially but was beaten to the role by another kid.
“However the boy who did get the part has had to pull out of the show, meaning Teddy got the call up.”
It was recently revealed Adam’s on-screen daughter will be played by his real-life niece, Scarlett Thomas, the daughter of Adam’s brother, former ‘Coronation Street’ star Ryan Thomas, and Ryan’s ex and ‘Corrie’ actress Tina O’Brien.
The source added to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “It means Adam now has his niece Scarlett and his son Teddy as part of his on screen family.
“He is absolutely ecstatic and he cannot wait to get started.”
A representative for ‘Waterloo Road’ said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances there has been a last minute casting change to the role of Tommy Charles.
“The part will now be played by Teddy Thomas.”
Adam previously spoke about how he felt “blessed” to be returning to ‘Waterloo Road’.
The star made his acting breakthrough as Donte Charles in the series from 2006 to 2009 before making an even bigger name for himself in ‘Emmerdale’, and he is delighted to be returning to the show that kick-started his career.
He said: “I’m so excited to go back to where it all started!
“‘Waterloo Road’ was a huge part of my life and career so to go back 15 years later is a dream come true.
“I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity to get back to acting and doing what I love!
“I can’t wait to see some old faces and some new. I know this series is going to be the best one yet.”

Paul Chuckle saw late brother Barry’s ghost

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Chuckle has seen his late brother Barry Chuckle’s ghost.
The 74-year-old star lost his sibling to lung cancer in 2018 aged 73, and Paul – whose real name is Paul Elliott – spotted Barry’s spirit when he was waiting in the wings ahead of a panto appearance.
He said: “I did pantomime somewhere that year on my own for the first time. I’d never been on stage on my own, ever — except for DJ-ing.
“I remember standing in the wings, waiting for my entrance and the music playing.
“Barry would be on the other side, where he would come on and he wasn’t there.
“But I swear I could see him to the side of the stage, and he’s nodding and winking at me.
“It gave me confidence to walk on stage and the audience lifted me beautifully. That was lovely.
“He was my brother, my work partner, my best mate … everything.”
The comedy pair were best known for starring in children’s TV show ‘ChuckleVision’, which ran for 22 years from 1987 to 2009, and became known for their classic catch phrase “to me, to you”.
Paul also told how Barry convinced him to carry on on his own shortly before he passed away.
Speaking on the ‘RHLSTP’ podcast, he said: “When Barry was ill he said, ‘you must carry on the business. Don’t pack it in’.
“I said, ‘Yeah, but you were half of me, you know? I’ll only be half what I was without you’.
“And he says , ‘You’ll find something, just keep going. Just keep doing something’.”
Paul recently admitted that he misses his brother terribly.
He said: “I feel that he is still with me, which is a great thing. I believe in the afterlife, I don’t believe when you die, that’s the end of it all.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lacey Turner wears slippers on the ‘EastEnders’ set whenever her feet aren’t in shot.
The 33-year-old actress’ soap secret has been revealed by her co-star and on-screen wife Heather Peace, who plays Eve Unwin, as she told how Lacey – who portrays Stacey Slater in the BBC One soap – likes to give her trotters a break from her character’s high-heeled boots when she can.
She said: “Lacey has these high-heeled boots when she’s filming. But if her feet aren’t in shot she’ll be in her slippers.”
Heather has admitted her all-time favourite ‘EastEnders’ character was the iconic Pat Butcher, who was played by Pam St Clement.
The 46-year-old star added: “It has to be Pat Butcher, I just love her. I thought everything Pam St Clement brought to that role was awesome.
“The matriarchal, strong female roles are something ‘EastEnders’ does really well, like Peggy and Pat – I love them.”
The former ‘Waterloo Road’ star – who played deputy head Nikki Boston in the school drama – admitted she is happy in ‘EastEnders’ for the time being, but wouldn’t rule out a comeback on the BBC show in the future.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, she added: “I loved playing Nikki and the crowd made the show.
“We were away from home a lot in Glasgow, and we all stayed in the same block of flats – it was like being in halls of residence at uni.
“Now the show is back, there are so many stories they can explore that will be very different from when I was in it. Right now I’m happy to stay in ‘EastEnders’.”
Heather made her first ‘EastEnders’ appearance as Eve in October 2021 after her lawyer character married Stacey in prison out of convenience.

Rawson Marshall Thurber set to direct live-action Voltron film

OHMYGOSSIP — Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing a live action ‘Voltron’ movie.
The ‘Red Notice’ filmmaker – who was at the helm of the Netflix blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot – is said to be attached to the project, which he will co-write with Ellen Shanman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is in the middle of a bidding war between “six or seven studios and streamers”.
The publication noted that Netflix – which streamed animated show ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’ – is not in the running for the upcoming adaptation.
Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are set to produce with Bob Koplar, who serves as the head of World Events Productions, the company controlling ‘Voltron’.
It’s thought a deal could be settled by the end of the weekend.
As it stands, there are no plot details.
However, ‘Voltron’ is based on the Japanese sci-fi series ‘Beast King GoLion’ and ‘Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV’.
The show was edited and dubbed by World Events as a syndicated programmed called ‘Voltron: Defender of the Universe’, which aired in the mid-1980s.
The show focused on five young pilots in the Robot Lions battalion, named after vehicles which came together to form Voltron itself.
There have been a number of reboots over the years, incliuding a NickToons project in 2011 and a Netflix series five years later.
Meanwhile, big studios such as Dreamworks and New Regency have previously tried and failed to make ground with a live action film.
For Thurber, ‘Voltron’ follows his work on the likes of ‘Skyscraper’, ‘Central Intelligence’ and ‘Red Notice’.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has starred in his three latest films, and although there’s no casting news at all yet, fans will be hoping there’s a chance of him joining the project.

Moon Knight’s Mohamed Diab blasts Wonder Woman 1984’s ‘disgraceful’ depiction of Egypt

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Moon Knight’ director Mohamed Diab has blasted ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ for its depiction of Egypt.
The native Egyptian explained how he has tried to rectify the way Hollywood and Western cinema has “portrayed” his homeland on the big screen.
He told SFX magazine: “You never see Cairo. You always see Jordan shot for Cairo, Morocco shot for Cairo, sometimes Spain shot for Cairo. This really angers us.
“I remember seeing ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ and there was a big sequence in Egypt, and it was a disgrace for us.
“You had a sheik – that doesn’t make any sense to us. Egypt looked like a country from the Middle Ages. It looked like the desert.”
Diab insisted the on-screen depiction “dehumanises” Egyptians as he pointed to the “over the top” way the country gets presented.
He added: “In my pitch [for ‘Moon Knight’], there was a big part about Egypt, and how inauthentically it has been portrayed throughout Hollywood’s history.
“It’s always exotic – we call it orientalism. It dehumanises us. We are always naked, we are always sexy, we are always bad, we are always over the top.”
The filmmaker also pointed to the balancing act he had with his upcoming Disney+ series – set to launch on the streaming platform on March 30 – as he wanted to be “as authentic as possible” without forgetting the project’s comic book roots.
He explained: “[It’s] part of the show because it’s part of the comic book. It’s part of how he gets his powers. It’s ingrained in it.
“There was definitely room to play [in ‘Moon Knight’] but keep it as authentic as possible, in the realm of being fantastical.
“Even in the original comic books they did a great job of researching and trying to make Egypt authentic.”

Shirley Ballas writing crime novel

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas is writing a crime novel.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge has decided to try her hand at penning murder mystery fiction, according to her pal, TV presenter Eamonn Holmes, 62.
In his Best magazine column, he said: “I got my arm around dancer extraordinaire Shirley Ballas this week, although strictly speaking, we weren’t dancing.
“As it turns out, head judge Shirley is branching out into writing murder mystery novels.
“She tells me it’s a labour of love, as she has a complete fixation with crime stories and whodunnits.”
Shirley won’t be the first judge to try her hand at fiction, as fellow panellists Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke have both written novels.
This news comes after Shirley recently opened up about going through a “tough week”.
Earlier this month, the 61-year-old star said: “OMG what a tough week personally.
“I needed this show to lift my spirits and it did. A must see show @mammamiatheparty.”
She also shared a post of herself alongside her friends and the ‘Mamma Mia’ crew.
Shirley wrote: “What an amazing evening for Karen’s birthday @karenmarcus1960 @mammamiapartyuk at the O2.
“What an evening. The past two weeks have been somewhat stressful and difficult on so many levels.
“This evening was a real pick me up. First class food and brilliant entertainment.
“If you’re looking for the perfect night out this is it. (sic)”
Last year, fans spotted a lump under Shirley’s arm when she was on ‘Strictly’.
She later went to hospital to get it checked out and doctors conducted a series of tests after they were concerned about her high hormone levels.
She wrote in November: “Hi everybody I just wanted to fill you in as promised…
“I got two sets of results back to day and the shadow on my kidney seems absolutely fine and some other polyps are absolutely fine. No cancer there so that’s good.
“‘Now I need to have my boobies checked one more time when I have a minute.
“My hormones are still all over the place today so starting today with some oestrogen to see if we can balance the body better… (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley has learned how to be a dominatrix for her latest show.
The TV presenter, who is known for her hard-hitting documentaries, has been whipped into shape by an S M madame for a brand-new documentary, part of her ‘Stacey Sleeps Over’ series.
She moved in with 70-year-old Sherry, who has her very own love dungeon in her conservatory.
The 35-year-old star – who is currently dating pro dancer Kevin Clifton after the pair met on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and won the series together in 2018 – is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “I’ve learnt not to go into these shows with any definite ideas because there is always a surprise, so I go in as a good sport who is up for the weekend and I just end up being quite reactive to what ever ends up unfolding
“I mean I can’t say that I had anticipated I would be in a conservatory at 10am in Swindon with a completely naked man, who was a stranger, with various different sex toys dangling from him.
“But you know what, I’m a documentarian and if that’s what I have to document, then that’s what I document!
“Sherry was a scream, really good fun. She also taught me how to use a cane appropriately and safely, so I’ll always be in debt to Sherry for that.”
The new series, which will kick off next week, will also see Stacey move in with former glamour model Carla Bellucci as well as mother Jemma, who was diagnosed with incurable cancer but is hoping doctors in Mexico will be able to prolong her life.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark has penned a tell-all memoir.
The ‘Supermarket Sweep’ presenter has written ‘TEN: The decade that changed my future’, to celebrate his 10 years in show business.
Rylan – who last year split from his husband Dan Neal, who he married in 2015 – said: “I’ve learned so much from my decade in the business and I’m genuinely excited to be writing again.
“It’s been a tough couple of years, for so many of us, and last year was one of my toughest yet, so I’m pleased to have the opportunity to talk about the lessons I’ve learned along the way. You’ll hopefully have a good laugh and cry with me too.

OHMYGOSSIP — David Tag regrets not carrying on with his pilot training.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star, who’s childhood ambition was to be a pilot, gave up his dream when he ran out of money, but he now wishes he could’ve carried on flying.
The 36-year-old star said: “My childhood ambition was to be a pilot. I trained for a little while and even got my Private Pilot License but then I ran out of money.
“My biggest regret in life is not carrying on with my pilot training! I’m living the dream now, don’t get me wrong, but I’d love to take flying up again.”
The soap star – who welcomed his first child, Reuben, with his girlfriend, Abi Harrison, in July last year – said he’s been up against it after having a child, moving house and working, but he tries to “embrace” change.
He said: “My biggest challenge in life so far has been bringing up a child, moving house and working full-time.
“You can never fully prepare for having a child and taking on a new job. But I try to embrace the things I’m not prepared for.”
Despite his challenging life, the former ‘Emmerdale’ actor, wouldn’t trade in being a family man for anything.
He said: “When I’m feeling down I’m cheered up by my family. If we ever have any troubles, we talk it out with each other and that really helps.”
David has also opened up about his mental health, admitting his over-thinking can send him down a negative spiral at times.
He told OK! magazine: “My overthinking, it can send me into a bit of a spiral, mentally. I believe if you focus on the bad things in life, then those things will prevail. But if you focus more on the good, then everything else will be OK in the end.
“But at the moment in time, it’s hard to see it that way. I’m getting better as I get older though.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden and Alan Carr are working on a TV show together.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge and the comedian – who appeared on ITV’s ‘DNA Journey’ last year when they embraced their family history on a road trip – have penned their own programme, which was commissioned this week.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Amanda and Alan have been friends for a long time.
“Since they appeared on ITV’s ‘DNA Journey’ together a year ago, many people talked about their hilarious chemistry. There has been a huge demand for them to work together again.
“Amanda has turned down various projects over the last six months in favour of writing their own show, and they are both thrilled it was snapped up and commissioned this week.
“The channel, rumoured to be BBC, saw an opportunity they couldn’t miss.”
Amanda confirmed this week that she and Alan had landed their “first big commission” together.
She posted a selfie of the pair, and wrote in the caption: “Incoming…. We can’t wait to share our news very soon! Our first big commission!!! So exciting #matchmadeinheaven (sic)”
The news comes after Amanda recently admitted she would love to take on more projects, after being inspired by Bradley Walsh.
The 51-year-old star said: “If Bradley Walsh can do an afternoon game show, Amanda Holden should be able to do a movie.
“I’ve a couple of huge things coming out on the business side, two TV jobs and a film. They’re not comfortable with you doing more than one thing.”

Brendan Cole says Strictly Come Dancing narrative was ‘tiring’

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Cole hated being portrayed as the “competitive one” on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 45-year-old ballroom dancer starred on the BBC show for 15 series, but Brendan has admitted to feeling limited by the narrative.
Brendan – who is currently preparing for the ‘Dancing On Ice’ final – shared: “I came on the show hoping to show another side to me. ‘Strictly’ only wanted to show one side to me.
“And they really pushed that side of me. There was very much a narrative that the show went with for 15 series. And it was tiring because it was actually not me.”
Brendan hopes ‘Dancing On Ice’ viewers can see that there’s much more to him than ‘Strictly’ might’ve suggested.
The ballroom star has also relished his time on the ITV show.
He told MailOnline: “As you can see I like a bit of fun. I muck around a lot and that wasn’t shown very often and I think it has been shown more on this show.
“And I am very pleased for the way it has been for all of us, we have been shown in really lovely lights – which we are. And it has been a really great experience.”
Brendan also disputes the idea that he’s “fiercely competitive”.
He explained: “I hope the show has given me the chance to show a new side of me. I am not actually fiercely competitive – I am competitive with myself.
“If I get something wrong or I am not where I’m meant to be, I get immensely p***** off with myself. I am only competitive with myself, if I lose or win it doesn’t matter, but it is always nice to win!”

David Duchovny is ‘figuring out a way to exist’ in Hollywood

OHMYGOSSIP — David Duchovny is “figuring out a way to exist” in the movie business.
The 61-year-old actor feels bored by “fictionalised documentaries” and claims that people who “make original stories” are currently being marginalised in Hollywood.
He shared: “Fictionalised documentaries are not what we do best. I’m very bored by that. What it means is that fiction writers like myself, or people that try to make original stories on film, are now in this weird space, figuring out a way to exist.”
David’s new comedy film, ‘The Bubble’, touches on the self-absorption of actors.
And while David acknowledges that actors are “overpaid and overwatched”, he also notes that they’re also just “human beings doing a job”.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “You’re thinking about yourself a lot. The job is to be vulnerable and somewhat self-obsessed. On top of that, there’s career anxiety and shaping and branding and all that s***. We’re overpaid and overwatched and people care way too much about us. Nobody deserves any of that.
“But, for the most part, actors are just human beings doing a job. A silly job – but a job.”
David also pointed out another way in which the movie business has changed over time.
The actor – who is best known for playing Fox Mulder in the hit TV series ‘The X-Files’ – said: “I’m a fan of the work standing on its own. But we don’t live in that world any more.
“It’s impossible to judge a work on its own merit. There’s just too much that you’ve heard, mostly from the f****** people who made it. I should be disqualified from talking about my work. Not only because I’m gonna lie to you, but because I’m not outside it.”

Seth Rogen set for Being Mortal role

OHMYGOSSIP — Seth Rogen is set to join the cast of ‘Being Mortal’.
The 39-year-old star is in line to team up with Bill Murray in the movie, sources have told Deadline.
The motion picture will be Aziz Ansari’s feature directorial debut, and the filmmaker will also star in the movie after penning the script.
‘Being Mortal’ is based on Atul Gawande’s non-fiction book ‘Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End’, which explores topics including end-of-life care and how medicine has changed over time.
Last month, it was revealed Searchlight Pictures are “thrilled” to be working with Ansari on the film, which will be released in cinemas at some point in 2023.
The company’s presidents, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, said in a statement: “Aziz Ansari is an incredible talent and, with this script, he brings a singular combination of insightful humour and pathos.

Ansari is likely to have had time to write the script without many distractions because he recently revealed he has completely stopped using the internet and email.
He said: “However many years ago, I kind of started turning off the internet and, you know, I deleted all social media and all this stuff, and I’ve slowly just kept going further and further. I stopped using email maybe like four years ago.”
The ‘Parks and Recreation’ star described his decision to disconnect from social media and email as a “mental diet”.
He added: “It all kind of … it’s almost like I kind of started thinking about, you know, everyone thinks about their diet and what they eat – at a certain point, it’s also about thinking about your mental diet and what you’re putting in your head.
“Whether it’s like, oh, looking at the same four websites, constantly checking The New York Times 50 times a day. At a certain point, yeah, that’s not really helping.”

Beverley Callard: Soap scripts aren’t as good as they used to be

OHMYGOSSIP — Beverley Callard doesn’t think soap scripts are “as good” as they used to be.
The 64-year-old star became a household name while portraying Coronation Street’s Liz McDonald on and off from 1989 to 2020, but the actress thinks the small screen is “overloaded with soap operas” nowadays, and she has questioned the quality of the writing for long-running dramas.
She said: “I personally don’t think the scripts are as good now. I think we’re overloaded with soap operas, which is a shame.
“And also people can be quite snooty about scripts. Certainly casting directors can be and think, well, that person can do anything.
“I said no to a few scripts that came and then you think, you know, the next day you wake up and think I shouldn’t have said no to that yesterday.”
Beverley also admits she had “no life” during her time on the cobbles, because the job was so “full-on”.
Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, she added: “As an actor, you’re scared to say no to a job, but the scripts came and I thought I’ve just got to trust my instincts really.
“It’s not nine to five, it’s like seven until 10 at night and it’s six days a week.
“It’s really full-on and you have no life, like it used to be a lot harder years ago when the cast was smaller.”
Beverley’s latest role will see her star in Gold comedy series ‘Newark, Newark’, which begins next week.
She will star alongside Gavin and Stacey’s Mat Horne and The Windsors’ Morgana Robinson, and the former ‘Corrie’ star will play the mum of Morgana’s character, feisty chip shop owner Maxine.
