Cruella makeup artists confirm that a script is being written for the sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — The makeup artists on ‘Cruella’ have confirmed that a script for the sequel is being written.
Nadia Stacey and Julia Vernon were both nominated for the Academy Award for their work on the movie – which starred Emma Stone as the title character – and have revealed that work has begun on a story for a second flick in the origin story of the ‘101 Dalmatians’ villain Cruella de Vil.
Speaking on the red carpet at Sunday’s (27.03.22) ceremony, Stacey said: “They’re working on the script at the moment.”
She expressed hope that the sequel will be set in the 1980s to give her more opportunities to play with the style of the characters.
Stacey said: “My only hope is, I know nothing, but my hope is we’re moving into the 80s… get your rollers out, lots of perms. We’d have such a new era to explore.”
‘Cruella’ director Craig Gillespie previously suggested that there was plenty of scope for more movies to be based around the character.
He said: “I feel like we’ve only just met her. I’d love to now see the full-blown Cruella, fully loaded. She’s managed to get the support system around her and she can really expand on her brand.
“I’d love to see where that takes her and how you could almost destroy her from inside out, if she’s not careful with all that power.”
The filmmaker also claimed that there were several ideas about where the franchise could go next.
Craig said: “There’s sort of conversations about what that will be. Where this world takes us now, and then I think they’ll be diving into it. We’re in that exploratory phase right now, but they’ve got a lot of ideas that are exciting.”

Michael Bay blasts Ambulance CGI

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Bay has slammed the visual effects in his new movie ‘Ambulance’.
The 57-year-old filmmaker has helmed the new action flick that stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya-Abdul Mateen II but is unhappy with some of the CGI that has been used.
Speaking to the European cinema chain Les Cinemas Pathe Gaumont, Michael said׃ “All those explosions and car flipping, that’s real. That’s all live, real, ratchets. It looks (very) dangerous if you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. Most of it is real stunts. There’s very few blue screen shots on the movie. There’s not a lot of CGI.
“Some of the CGI is s*** in this movie. There’s a couple of shots I wasn’t happy with, okay? Alright.”
Michael – whose previous credits include ‘Bad Boys’ and the ‘Transformers’ franchise – recently suggested that rehearsals are now a thing of the past in Hollywood and was unsure if Jake and Yahya would work well together in the new flick, which will be released next month.
He told HeyUGuys.com: “That’s the thing you have no idea because modern Hollywood, everyone is always too busy, rehearsals are almost a thing, they did that in the ancient times, prehistoric times when I worked with Sean Connery.
“Jake is shooting something then boom it works, you know their movies but then you start talking to them as people, you get them together for dinner, and then you get together.
“What I try to do in my first week I try to shoot some of the beginning of the movie… a little action, a little tone.”

Beverley Callard is happy to ‘grow old disgracefully’

OHMYGOSSIP — Beverley Callard doesn’t mind “growing old disgracefully”.
The 65-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Liz McDonald in ‘Coronation Street’ – feels her “world has opened up” and she’s looking forward to next chapter of her life, after moving to the countryside with her husband Jon McEwan.
She said: “It’s a really great feeling. I feel like everything is slotting into place and it feels a bit too good to be true – it’s just fantastic.
“You wonder if something bad is around the corner, but I think you just have to enjoy it, don’t you?”
Beverley found herself reassessing her life amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
But the former soap star insists she remains determined to have fun.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I think a lot of us have been doing that after the past two years.
“It’s made many of us really appreciate what we’ve got – I’m one of the luckiest people.
“I don’t feel any wiser at 65 and think I’m maybe growing old disgracefully … but who cares!”
Beverley stars in the new comedy series ‘Newark, Newark’.
And the veteran actress admits she jumped at the chance to appear in the show, which centres on a divorced chip-shop owner.
She said: “When I left ‘Corrie’, I was going to wait for a really good drama where I wear no make-up and look really plain and boring, very different to how viewers have seen me before.
“But this script came along and I couldn’t say no. Every character jumps off the page and the scripts are just so funny.
“Pauline is so hideously grotesque and wonderful, I just had to do it. It was so fun playing somebody so awful. She’s like a panto villain.”

Strictly Come Dancing bosses ‘face scheduling dilemma’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ could be taken off the air due to a scheduling clash with the World Cup.
The hit show is one of the BBC’s flagship TV series, but the broadcaster is currently facing a big dilemma, with the World Cup starting in Qatar in November and matches being staged at 6pm or 7pm UK time.
Despite this, an insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “BBC bosses are confident there will be plenty of room for footballs and glitterballs this autumn.
“We haven’t had the draw yet so it is early days to speculate on what games the BBC and ITV will pick to show.”
In the past, there have been occasions when the BBC has decided to air the show on Friday nights. However, at the moment, it’s not clear as to how the broadcaster will look to resolve the issue.
The World Cup is typically held over the summer, meaning it’s never clashed with ‘Strictly’s usual schedule. But due to the extreme temperatures in Qatar over the summer, the tournament has been moved to later in the year.
Meanwhile, Brendan Cole recently admitted he hated being portrayed as the “competitive one” on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 45-year-old ballroom dancer starred on the BBC show for 15 series, but Brendan confessed to feeling limited by the narrative.
Brendan – who recently competed on ‘Dancing On Ice’ – shared: “I came on the show hoping to show another side to me. ‘Strictly’ only wanted to show one side to me.
“And they really pushed that side of me. There was very much a narrative that the show went with for 15 series. And it was tiring because it was actually not me.”

Richard Madeley calls Chris Rock ‘the worst celebrity he’s ever interviewed’

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madeley described Chris Rock as the “worst celebrity” he’s ever interviewed after Will Smith hit him at the Oscars.
The 65-year-old TV presenter discussed his own experience of interviewing Chris, 57, during a conversation about the Oscars incident on ‘Good Morning Britain’.
Speaking to his co-host Susanna Reid, he said: “I was asked by GQ Magazine some years ago. He was the most unpleasant person I’ve ever interviewed of my entire career, and that goes back to 1972 when I started at a local newspaper.
“It was for the film ‘Madagascar’. Had it been live, it would have been abandoned.
“He was the most unpleasant, rude, aggressive, unlikeable person I’ve ever interviewed on camera, without question. His behaviour was awful in my book. He is the most unpleasant celebrity I’ve ever had the misfortune of interviewing.”
Will confronted Chris on stage after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
The stand-up star joked about Jada starring in a new ‘G.I. Jane’ movie, in an apparent reference to her shaved head, which is the result of her having alopecia.
Reflecting on the dramatic incident, the former ‘This Morning’ host added: “If a man makes a crude and rude remark about their woman, you are playing with fire … I’m not saying it’s right.”
However, Susanna had a different take on the much-discussed incident.
The 51-year-old TV presenter insisted that Will’s behaviour cannot be justified in any way.
She said: “That is an assault and it’s not OK. There is no justification for hitting another human being.”
Susanna described Will as a “great person to interview”.
But, she added: “It’s not OK to get on stage and hit a human being.”

She said: “You get to 40 and think, I think that’s it. I’ve read there’s only a five percent chance after 40 per month of a women getting pregnant and the risk of miscarriage increases massively.
“And sadly, we did go through that and what that taught me I could get pregnant.
“[It made me think] I can do it. I got to 42 thinking it’s never going to happen.”

“Most of us will outgrow our jobs at some point.”
Andrea has recently considered relocating from the UK to Florida. But the former ‘GMTV’ star – who has kids Finlay, 20 and Amy, 15 – insists she won’t make the move until her kids have left home.

Aljaz Skorjanec quits Strictly Come Dancing after nine years

OHMYGOSSIP — Aljaz Skorjanec has left ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 32-year-old star has announced via social media that he’s quit the BBC show after nine years and admitted he took the decision “a little while ago”.
Aljaz said: “On a beautiful sunny day in May 2013 one phone call changed my life forever!
“It went like this… we would like to offer you a position on @bbcstrictly as a professional dancer. A dream became a reality and it was the biggest opportunity for a 23 year old boy from Slovenia. It didn’t matter how many beautiful ballrooms I performed in during my competitive career, stepping onto the sacred Strictly floor was the most nervous I had ever been.
“A little while ago I made the tough decision that Strictly 2021 would be my last. The show has given me an opportunity and freedom to create and express myself in front of millions of people every weekend for the last 9 years. The love and support I got from the team of producers was second to none. Matt Smith embraced villainy in Morbius

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Smith relished playing a villain in ‘Morbius’.
The 39-year-old actor portrays antagonistic vampire Milo Morbius in the new Marvel blockbuster and believes his enjoyment of the role stemmed from him not having to “overthink” the part.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Matt said of being a bad guy: “I did enjoy doing that and I did enjoy leaning into all the villainous stuff, and long may it continue.
“It’s always quite fun playing people on that side of the story, I think, and in a film like this, it does allow you to lean into those tropes and ideas and angles a bit more. I tried to let the reins off, I guess. I mean, I didn’t overthink it, I just turned up and did it to be honest.”
Smith added: “There has to be a degree of empathy. You need to like your villains, you kind of want to hang out with them.”
Matt also revealed that his former ‘Doctor Who’ co-star Karen Gillan – who plays Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – encouraged him to take on the role.
‘The Crown’ actor recalled: “I phoned Karen and said, ‘What’s it like? Have you had a nice time?’ and she’s like, ‘Yeah, go for it, do it.’ So I did.
“Good old Kaz. I mean, she’s a seasoned pro, she’s made about nine of them (she’s actually made six).”
Matt also confirmed that he would jump at the chance to star in another comic book movie should the opportunity arise.
He said: “I don’t know how it all works, if you’re allowed to go and do something else, but God, I’d jump at it.
“I think you can be quite bold with it as a form and you can also, not in this movie, but in others, it allows you to be quite funny as well if the part is there to do it. I’d be more than happy to have another go.”

Odessa Young embraced nudity in Mothering Sunday

OHMYGOSSIP — Odessa Young was comfortable with the nudity required in ‘Mothering Sunday’.
The 24-year-old star portrays Jane Fairchild in the romantic drama and has a lengthy nude scene in the flick but was happy to do so as she treats her body like a “costume”.
Odessa told The Hollywood Reporter: “No, there wasn’t a body double. It’s probably not so romantic for me to reveal this, but I could do it because I treated my body like a costume.
“I enjoy the challenge of those moments where you don’t have to rely on written action or written dialogue.”
Odessa stars in the picture alongside Josh O’Connor and Olivia Colman and revealed that she used the latter as a sounding board when it came to the nude scenes.
She recalled: “We shot the movie in the fall of 2020, during COVID. It was the first time I had really been around people. She had interesting reflections on the nudity as well, and her experiences kind of saying no to that. I definitely looked to her for comfort and for context.”
Young also revealed that her trust in director Eva Husson was a key element in attracting her to the movie.
Asked what made her join the film, the ‘Shirley’ star said: “The script, trusting the director and feeling like it’s something – not to sound so self-important – I can bring to (it) that maybe no one else can.
“In this case, it’s always a challenge as an actress to not have too much dialogue. If I succeed in that challenge, I can bring authenticity to the experience of just watching someone go about their day-to-day business.”

The ‘Strictly – It Takes Two’ host – who announced in June last year she was departing the BBC Latin and ballroom show as a pro dancer – insists her significant other is “what ‘Strictly’ is all about”.
She wrote on Instagram: “I cannot express the sadness in my heart to see @aljazskorjanec say goodbye to @bbcstrictly, but at the same time there is so much joy in my heart for what he has brought to the show these past 9 years. I have admired him from the day I met him for his passion for dancing, but more than anything for his kindness towards anyone he encounters. As his wife and best friend, I could not be happier to know that he made so many smile during his time in Strictly; not just those who were watching from home, but also those who work behind the scenes. He makes every single person he encounters feel absolutely special; ask any of his partners throughout the years. He IS STRICTLY and what Strictly is all about; taking someone who wants to learn to dance, and making them truly fall in love with it. (sic)”
Janette also cannot wait for Aljaz’s “exciting adventures” in the future.
She added: “All good things come to an end, but with every ending comes new beginnings. I cannot wait for the exciting adventures life will have for him in the future because I know at the center of all of his endeavours will be kindness and love for whatever he does.

Jon M Chu ‘open’ to Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth returning for Wicked

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon M. Chu says “the door is always open” for Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth to join ‘Wicked’.
The 42-year-old director is at the helm of the upcoming big screen adaptation of the musical, and he’d be delighted to have the original Broadway stars involvement in the movie.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “The door is always open. Are you kidding? I’m not gonna say anything.
“I’m not gonna do anything yet, but of course that original cast is amazing. They’ve been so gracious… They’ve only been supportive and kind.”
The film will see Ariana Grande take over Chenoweth’s role of Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo will take on Menzel’s part Elphaba.
Chenowath recently said: “I feel great about both choices. I have known Grande since she was 10, so Ariana, I am very very proud of you.
“She knows. We talk every day and it’s an honor and a pleasure to pass the wand and the crown to you.”
Now, Chu has agreed and insisted everyone “earned” their place in the movie.
He explained: “When you see the new cast, it’s pretty awesome. Nobody was offered this role off the top. Everybody had to come and audition.
“We saw everybody in town who could sing. These are tough songs too. Everyone had to earn their position.
“When I say that they came in and blew us away, they earned that spot in every way. It was pretty amazing. It will bring you to tears. Every word means something different when it’s coming from their mouth.”
Meanwhile, Erivo previously joked she “was not OK” when she found out she had landed the role, and she’s started to find some chemistry with Grande.
She said: “I can tell you that Ariana is wonderful. The two of us are really starting to find our feet and find our relationship and really enjoy one another’s time and space and conversations. She’s the sweetest person.”

Harry Styles ‘pulls out of Nosferatu remake’

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles has pulled out of movie ‘Nosferatu’.
The 28-year-old star was thought to be briefly attached to Robert Eggers’ remake of the 1922 film, which is to feature ‘Last Night in Soho’ star Anya Taylor-Joy, but the ‘Watermelon Sugar’ singer has had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
A representative for Styles confirmed the news to Variety.
In October 2019, ‘The Witch’ director Eggers admitted he wanted to remake the classic silent horror film, which was originally directed by F.W. Murnau.
Eggers – who directed Taylor-Joy in 2016 horror movie ‘The Witch’ – admitted he picked the movie because he believes the mysterious Count Orlok is closer to a “traditional folk vampire” than the romanticised versions seen in other movies, including Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’.
He said: “I definitely hope to create, to tell some stories on larger canvases, which does mean making something that is narratively more broad.
“I mean, that movie [‘Nosferatu’] is really important to me for many reasons, but I think ‘Nosferatu’ is closer to the folk vampire.
“The vampire [in ‘Nosferatu’] is a combination of the folk vampire, of the literary vampire that actually has its roots in England before Germany, and also [has roots in] Albin Grau, the producer/production designer’s occultist theories on vampires.
“So he’s not a traditional folk vampire but it’s much closer to that than Stoker, even though obviously Stoker is using a lot of folklore that he’s researched to create his vampire. But Dracula is finally much more an extension of the literary vampire that was started by John Polidori, based on Byron.”

Michaela Strachan says All Star Musicals is the ‘dream’ after Strictly Come Dancing snubs

OHMYGOSSIP — Michaela Strachan says ‘All Star Musicals’ is her “dream” after getting rejected for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The wildlife presenter has made “no secret” of her desire to take part in the BBC’s Latin and ballroom competition despite repeated snubs from bosses, but she’s delighted to be part of ITV’s new show.
She told the Radio Times magazine: “It’s no secret I’ve always wanted to do ‘Strictly’ but I’ve never been asked.
“When ‘All Star Musicals’ came along, I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is my dream.’ ”
The 55-year-old star will join the likes of former ‘EastEnders’ actress Jacqueleine Jossa and rugby star Danny Care in the show, which is set to air later this year and will see Elaine Paige and Samantha Barks coaching the celebs as they gear up to blast out a classic theatre song.
Although she couldn’t reveal any details about how she got on, Michaela insisted some things are more important than “winning”.
She added: “It’s not about winning, it’s about being the best you can be.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Springwatch’ host and former children’s TV presenter previously revealed she is “so frustrated” after continually missing out on ‘Strictly’.
She said: “Why have they never asked me?
“Every year I see the line-up and think, ‘Why was I not considered?’ ”
Michaela – who had dance training at stage school and even appeared in ‘Seven Brides For Seven Brothers’ on stage in her early career – has suggested she’d be a perfect fit for the show because of her ties to the Beeb and the “wide age group” of her audience.
She added: “I thought I’d be an obvious choice because I’m a BBC person, and I appeal to quite a wide age group. I’m so frustrated.”
