OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Stelling has decided to remain on ‘Soccer Saturday’ for at least another football season.
The 67-year-old TV presenter announced in October he would be stepping down as host of the Sky Sports show at the end of the current campaign in May, but following talks with Sky, he has made a U-turn and will stay on the show until at least the 2022/23 season.
He said: “Sky Sports is my home, and the ‘Soccer Saturday’ team are a big part of my life.
“As the end of the season approached, and I was preparing to say goodbye, I realised that I was not ready to blow the final whistle and leave the best job in the world.”
Jonathan Licht, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said: “Football fans everywhere will be delighted that Jeff will continue to host ‘Soccer Saturday’.
“He is a massive part of Saturday afternoon life and everyone at Sky Sports shares the joy this news will bring.
“We just can’t get enough of Jeff, and can’t wait to bring more of his broadcasting magic to our viewers.”
It comes after Jeff had announced live on air in October that he would be leaving ‘Soccer Saturday’ at the end of this season.
He said: “This is my decision. There has been no pressure. Sky have been absolutely brilliant with me, as they always have done. I am not intending to retire but it is time to let somebody else have a go at what is the best job in the world.
“I wouldn’t want to get to the stage where I’m calling Raith Rovers ‘Roath Ravers’. I’m going to be here until May, when I’ll be leaving the show and the company.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Holby City’s cast had “absolutely no idea” the show was going to be axed.
The BBC medical drama – which stars Rosie Marcel, Jo Martin, and Paul Bradley, among others – will bow out on Tuesday night (29.03.22) with its last-ever episode after it was announced in June that the programme will end after 23 years, and David Ames (Dominic Copeland) admitted the show’s stars were shocked by the bombshell news.
When asked on ‘Lorraine’ if the cast got a “feeling” it was going to happen, he said: “We had absolutely no idea. Absolutely none.
“I remember I had a brief text chat with Russell T Davies about this, and he said, ‘Normally you hear a little rumbling somewhere. Somebody will know something.’ No one knew a thing. It was just one of those things.”
Show host Lorraine Kelly admitted the Holby’s axing “doesn’t make any sense whatsoever”, but she suggested the show could be re-run from the beginning after the final episode.
David admitted Tuesday night’s last ep will be a “massive tribute” to the NHS.
He said: “Loose ends will be tied, stories will be rounded off nicely. What we can look forward to is a really heartfelt … just a massive tribute to what it’s about, which is the NHS and what they do for us.”
Since he finished filming the medical drama, David has been starring in play ‘Steve’ in the West End, but he has also set his sights on TV presenting.
When asked by Lorraine if he has ever thought about presenting, he added: “I have absolutely thought about things like that.
“I’m friends with Gok [Wan] and Richard Arnold, and I admire what they do massively.
“And you, but the whole live thing kind of scares me.”
David also admitted it would be “a dream” to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, but he has “two left feet”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gerard Kearns, Morven Christie, Steve Edge, and Jonas Armstrong are among the stars who will feature in new BBC drama ‘Floodlights’.
The BBC Two feature-length single drama will tell the story of former professional footballer Andy Woodward – who will be played by Gerard – and his brave revelations about the sexual abuse he suffered as a youth player.
Andy said: “Since speaking out in 2016 I wanted to continue to encourage people to talk without fear, to make a change.
“‘Floodlights’ tells my story, which no child should ever have to go through. I hope this film helps to stop abuse in football and in all areas of life.”
Gerard added: “I am honoured to be playing Andrew Woodward and hope that we have done his story justice.”
In 2016, Andy told of the horrific sexual abuse he had suffered at the hands of his youth coach Barry Bennell, which led to hundreds more men, some who were also victims of Bennell, coming forward to speak up about their experiences of abuse in the sport.
‘Floodlights’ has been written by Matt Greenhalgh and directed by Nick Rowland.
Matt said: “I was in the crowd at Maine Road when Bury FC beat my team, Manchester City, 0-1 in 1998. Andy Woodward was playing for Bury … and was outstanding.
“When his brutal story broke I remember being stunned not only by the magnanimity of his courage, but by how this could happen in our national sport. His horrific revelations were undoubtedly a pivotal moment for football … but also for many, many men.
“Andy’s story more than deserves telling as drama, so that it can keep on telling, and informing the next generation of parents and kids. And I am very proud to be part of his honourable fight to expose those who prey on children in any walk of life.”
‘Floodlights’ will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer this spring.

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Mardell is “pleased” there is chance for Emma Brooker to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 28-year-old actress is glad her character will not be killed off on the cobbles, because it means there is a “possibility” for her to return to Weatherfield.
Alexandra said: “I’m really, really pleased. I think even saying goodbye now is hard enough, but that little kind of hope of, ‘One day!’ There’s a possibility I could go back. That keeps you going – it’s not goodbye forever, you never know! But yeah, I’m really glad that she wasn’t killed off.
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m just so glad that Emma’s still alive – and hopefully she remains alive!”
Alexandra admitted being on ‘Corrie’ was “a career goal” and “surreal” as she prepares to move on, and she will miss her co-star Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts, among others.
She said: “Being on ‘Corrie’ was always a career goal that I really wanted to do, so the fact that I was lucky enough to have that opportunity and be on ‘Corrie’, it’s just ridiculous, it’s still so surreal and I’m forever grateful for that.
“I kind of miss working with Sue [Nicholls] in the salon at Audrey’s as well. We had some amazing scenes in there, and that’s when you get everybody coming in and out – as well as the Rovers, which was lucky so I kind of had the best of both worlds, getting to work with so many people.
“But yeah, I’ve been really, really lucky. I can’t complain at all.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Willis will return for a third season of ‘Delivering Babies’.
UKTV’s W Channel has recommissioned another series of the midwife show, which will see Emma reprise her role as a Maternity Care Assistant (MCA).
The eight-part series, ‘Emma Willis: Delivering Babies’, which is produced by Firecracker Films, will air later on this year on W’s newly-announced Freeview slot 25.
Emma, who is now a fully qualified MCA at Harlow’s Princess Alexandra hospital in the busy maternity ward, will be telling the stories of families whose birthing plans have been thrown out of the window due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After a three-year hiatus, Emma will have to take a refresher to bring her up to speed. She will be joined by new midwives as her hospital chums Val and Nagmeh have retired.
This season will see the Emma tackle home births and provide secondary care and support to those who have lost their babies.
The 46-year-old TV presenter said: “I am so excited to be back! I can’t believe how long it’s been since I worked a shift with the wonderful team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital.
“The staff are still very much on the frontline and, although there is a return to some sort of normality for many of us, I’m sure there will still be lots of challenges for us to work around whilst filming on the busy maternity unit.”
Helen Nightingale, senior commissioning editor, added: “I’m so pleased we can finally get Emma Willis back on the maternity unit with the brilliant team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital.
“It’s been an incredibly challenging couple of years for them, but this feels like a perfect time to get another slice of the warmth and joy that this award-winning series offers.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Wicks eats three bacon sandwiches for breakfast.
The 36-year-old star – who helped to get people moving through the COVID-19 lockdown via his online workouts – has told how his diet isn’t always as healthy as he would like, as he listed all the treats he has been chowing down on lately.
On Instagram, the star wrote alongside a shirtless selfie: “I’ve been eating chocolate cakes and biscuits every day, three bacon sandwiches for breakfast, hash browns and beans.”
He quipped: “It’s not very good when I’m the Body Coach is it.”
But Joe – who shares three-year-old daughter Indie and two-year-old son Marley with his wife Rosie Jones, 31, who is expecting their third child later this year – admitted he was back on a health kick this week, sharing a snap of his berry and nut butter porridge on Instagram.
He wrote: “back to feel good food (sic)”
The ‘Mental Health, My Family and Me’ documentary star also had a “little reminder” for his Twitter followers about the everchanging desire to work out while reminding them about the “awesome” feelings afterwards.
He wrote: “A little reminder that sometimes you won’t want to exercise. But if you can just get started you will feel awesome afterwards [blush smiley face emoji] Fitter, stronger, more energy, happier [strong arm emoji]”.
Joe – who is collaborating with long-time fan Louis Theroux on an upcoming BBC documentary about growing up with his father Gary, a former heroin addict, and his mother Raquel – shared how his childhood was a “tough subject to talk about”.
In October, he said: “It’s a tough subject to talk about. I was interviewing my mum and she said, “When your little brother George was two, I went into rehab to deal with things”
“And my dad was probably still using at the time, so it must have been hard for her to leave us.
“That buckled me. And then chatting to my dad, he got emotional.
“Realising what I went through – I had actually blocked a lot of it out … I was really emotional in every scene.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maureen Lipman has ruled out a return to ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’.
The 75-year-old actress decided to leave the Channel 4 show as she claims bosses cut a number of comical scenes featuring her and co-star, broadcaster and writer Gyles Brandreth.
She told the Radio Times magazine: “I went in imagining that they wanted me for my wit and my brain. Of course, they just want to show you willies and for you to be shocked.
“Honestly, we were really funny together, but none of that was used. And if they don’t want to use what we gave them, f*** them.
“It is from my point of view. I’m sure they’ll put someone else with Gyles.”
Former politician Gyles first appeared on the show in 2019 alongside Dame Sheila Hancock, 89, who was replaced by ‘Coronation Street’ star Maureen.
Gyles has previously backed Maureen’s decision to depart the show, agreed the show’s producers did not appreciate her sense of humour.
He said: “Some of the things that Maureen has said are Oscar-winning funny. But what do they use? Us yawning!”
This comes after Eamonn Holmes blasted ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ over how he was edited on the show.
He appeared on the programme alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, but the TV presetner was horrified when, in response to a scene where a child gives his father CPR, producers used a story Eamonn told about driving Ruth to hospital when she was in labour, rather than footage of him discussing his own father’s death from a heart attack.
He wrote on Twitter: “In reply to a number of complaints ….I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my Father dying from a Heart Attack at the side of a road and replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR . Idiotic and cruel edit.
“So following a tragedy that has forever haunted my family, I am in no mood for criticising holier than thou mouthpieces on here who haven’t gone through what we did. I had nothing but praise and emotion for the Ambulance control room TV programme. An atrocious edit @StudioLambert.
“How my Father died was a particularly horrible experience for my Mother , my younger brother and his friend who were all in the car . The resuscitation in The BBC Ambulance programme was as close as could be to my Dad’s passing.Yet I am the one edited to make it look like a laugh (sic).”
‘Gogglebox’ later apologised, and Eamonn accepted the apology, admitting he was “looking forward to making fun TV”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Former soap stars Tilly Keeper, Dario Coates, and Eve Austin are to star in ‘You’.
The ex-‘EastEnders’ actress – who played Louise Mitchell in the BBC One soap from 2016 to 2020 – is among the British cast members who will appear alongside lead actor Penn Badgley, who plays serial killer Joe Goldberg, in the fourth series of the Netflix psychological thriller.
A TV insider said: “This will come as a huge surprise to the millions of fans of the show around the world, who got used to the first three seasons being based in various locations in the US.
“The last thing they would have expected was for the next outing to move lock, stock and barrel across the Atlantic and feature a largely British cast.”
The drama’s new series will also be filmed in the UK.
The insider added to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “The producers wanted to provide a fresh take on the show, though Joe will no doubt be going back to his dark deeds when he arrives in London.”
Dario is best known for portraying Kym Marsh’s character Michelle Connor’s son Alex Neeson, who was later played by James Burrows and was known as Ali.
Eve starred in two ‘Emmerdale’ episodes as Tabitha Taylor-Rudd, the daughter of Rebecca White’s (Emily Head) friend Jools Taylor-Rudd (Charlotte Hunter).
As well as a host of soap stars, former ‘Downton Abbey’ actor Ed Speleers – who played Jimmy Kent in the period drama – and ‘Gotham’ actor Sean Pertwee are also set to appear in the show.
Since departing ‘EastEnders’, Tilly has gone on to appear in BBC Three TV film ‘Make Me Famous’ – which was created and written by Reggie Yates and starred Amanda Abbington, Nina Sosanya, and Emma Rigby – among other projects.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Ferry wants to have 10 kids with her boyfriend Johnny Wilbo.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star would love her 24-year-old beau to pop the question and she’s keen to crack on with starting a family.
Speaking about her reason for going on BBC Three dating show ‘Hot Property’, she told new! magazine: “I want a husband, I was single for so long. I’d been on my own for two years and I thought ‘I want to settle down now’ I’m 26. I want a big family with 10 kids, so I feel like I need to start cracking on.”
Chloe, who picked her blind date based on “cleanliness”, said she really enjoyed her time on the programme, regardless of coming out without a date.
She added: “It was honestly the best thing I’ve ever filmed for. Everyone was easy-going and I got on really well with [the show’s host] Yung Filly. I’m so excited to watch it.
“You go to three people’s houses and pick someone to date based on what you find.
“There were chicken wings in one house that had probably been there for a month – that was a massive turn off. Don’t get me wrong, I love chicken. That was just a lot to take in.
“There were foundation fingerprints on the wall as if they were getting freaky. I feel like he’d had a one night stand the night before and I thought ‘Right, this lad’s obviously a player’.”
But the 26-year-old reality TV star, who met Johnny not long after appearing on the dating series last October, is taking their relationship slow.
She said: “There’s no pressure on it yet – I’m just enjoying Johnny’s company.
“He’s very genuine, down-to-earth and just a lovely person.
“I’ve realised as I’ve got older you’ve just got to go with the flow. If things don’t work out, they don’t work out.”
But Johnny is keen to start a family.
Chloe added: “He’s like, ‘We best get cracking!’ I feel like I need to let it go now though. I don’t think I’m gonna be having 10 kids. I wanted 10 kids and two alpacas, but I feel like I’m just gonna end up with the two alpacas.”

The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ hosts are in the running for the fan-voted prize alongside other memorable moments including Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice’s silent ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ routine and Adele’s emotional reunion with her teacher.
Ant McParlin and Dec Donnelly hit out at the Prime Minister’s Downing Street lockdown party allegations during an episode of the ITV reality show last year.
Dec quipped: “It is all change in camp now because yesterday, the celebs chose a new leader via the gift of a secret vote.”
His co-star added: “And that means David’s reign is over. But they weren’t celebrating, they didn’t have a party.
“They categorically deny any suggestions that they had a party. And this fictional party definitely didn’t involve cheese and wine or a Secret Santa.”
Dec shouted: “Evening Prime Minister… for now!”

Colin’s devastating AIDS diagnosis in Channel 4 drama ‘It’s A Sin’ is also nominated alongside hit Netflix show Squid Game’s ‘Red Light, Green Light’ game, and Bimini’s verse in ‘UK Hun?’ from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’.
