Meagan Good thrilled to be playing a black female superhero in Shazam! Fury of the Gods

OHMYGOSSIP — Meagan Good thinks it is vital that she is playing a black female superhero in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’.
The 40-year-old actress reprises her role as the adult superhero Darla Dudley in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) sequel and is pleased to act as a role model for other black girls by playing a hero on screen.
Meagan told Popculture.com: “I’m excited about ‘Shazam!’ because a big thing for me was like, I want little girls to know that the little black girls, to see themselves in superheroes.
“That’s something in terms of black female superheroes that we haven’t had until the last couple of years outside of Eartha Kitt playing ‘Catwoman’, you know? But other than that, we hadn’t really had any consistent superhero to the point of where it was more of a norm and less of a big deal when you see it.”
Meagan admits that she did not see many people that looked like her in films when she was a child but was inspired by stars such as Jada Pinkett Smith and Halle Berry.
She explained: “Growing up, I didn’t have a ton of examples (and) I remember right when Jada Pinkett, and Nia Long, and Halle Berry, and Angela Bassett – when all these women were first coming onto the scene and I was a child and it was like, ‘Wow, somebody who looks like me.’
“And then it suddenly made me go, ‘Well I could be an actress’. And then it suddenly made me go, ‘Well, I could be strong like that, or I could be vulnerable like that, or I could do this or I could do that.”
Good continued: “And it really shaped my world and how I saw myself and what I was capable of. And it really put in my mind that no matter where I grow up, no matter what certain people tried to tell me – neighbours or teachers that didn’t believe in me, or didn’t support me – because I could see them, I knew what was available to me. And I could see my worth just in seeing them.”

Jake Gyllenhaal realised a dream working with Michael Bay on Ambulance

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Gyllenhaal fulfilled a dream by working with Michael Bay on ‘Ambulance’.
The 41-year-old star plays Danny Sharp in the new action thriller, which follows a pair of adoptive siblings who hijack an ambulance and take two paramedics hostage while completing a bank robbery, and explained that he wanted to experience the ‘Transformers’ filmmaker’s “bombastic” style firsthand.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Jake said: “I always wanted to make a movie with Michael Bay. I’m drawn to filmmakers and their vision of the world – they’re all so varying and different. I’ve heard so many things about the way Michael Bay makes movies. You know, the bullhorn, the bombastic behaviour and all this stuff. And I was like, ‘Ooh, what’s that like?’
The ‘Zodiac’ star continued: “I’ve had the privilege of being able to make many movies, and I have had the privilege to work with some incredible filmmakers. The one thing I’ve learned is that they all speak in different languages because they’re all such individuals. So that’s basically what it was about, was getting to work with (Bay).”
Jake’s co-star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II revealed that the “tension” in the story was a key reason for him joining the cast.
The 35-year-old actor said: “I knew that it was a short and fast shoot – I’d be working with Michael Bay and Jake Gyllenhaal, and I was just excited about that opportunity.
“I was actually working on ‘The Matrix’ at the time that this came in my box. This was pitched to me as Michael’s small movie. He said it’s not about action; it’s about tension.
“And I knew he would dress the world outside of the ambulance, but I was really interested in what was going on inside of the ambulance, and that’s where we see a lot of the tension play out.”

Ben Shephard makes ‘a fool of himself regularly’ on Tipping Point

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Shephard makes “a fool of himself regularly” on ‘Tipping Point’.
The 47-year old star has fronted the ITV game show – which sees contestants answer questions to win counters which they use on a large coin pusher arcade-style machine in an attempt to win big – for almost a decade and said those who sign up for the quiz show are “incredibly brave”.
He said: “These people are under pressure in an environment and their minds go blank and they can’t think of anything and the words don’t make sense. And I just have so much admiration for all of them. There have been some amazing answers but to be fair to all those people that come in, they are incredibly brave to take on the machine.”
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ star – who made a name for himself hosting ‘GMTV’ alongside Kate Garraway in the early 2000s – would “hate” to think anyone was worried about making a fool of themselves because he has done that “a number of times” while working on the show.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “And I would hate to think anybody would be nervous about coming in because they’re worried about making a fool of themselves, because I have done it on a number of occasions, and continue to make a fool of myself regularly.
“And I think that anybody can, when you’re under pressure like that. And hopefully they feel like we’re laughing with them and not laughing at them, because I would hate that to be the case.”

Ferne McCann would like kids with new beau Lorri Haines

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann sees herself having kids with her boyfriend Lorri Haines.
The 31-year-old reality star ended her whirlwind romance with marketing manager Jack Padgett last summer before getting together with Lorri earlier this year and things are going so well for the pair, they are already thinking about taking their romance to the next level.
Ferne told OK! of her 30-year-old beau, who moved from Dubai to be with her: “He’s back here now for the foreseeable future, which is really exciting.
“He weighed everything up and his son’s here and lots of his other businesses are in the UK. And obviously he’s met the love of his life now so he’d be a bit foolish to live in a separate country.
“It just made sense for our family moving forward and for his businesses to move here.”
Asked if she wants to have a child with him, Ferne – who has Sunday Skye, four, with ex Arthur Collins – replied: “My mind used to change like the wind.
“If I got asked in an interview, ‘Do you want to have more children?’ it really just depended on what mood I was in. But now I can really see what my future might potentially look like and I’d love to extend and grow my family.”
Meanwhile, a source has claimed the pair could get engaged this year.
They told the publication: “Ferne and Lorri are so in love.
“Friends wouldn’t be surprised if there was an engagement on the cards sometime this year.”
The former ‘TOWIE’ star has already hinted she’s keen to walk down the aisle.
She said last month: “I would love to get married and I think about it all the time. I have never thought about it until now because I have met someone now that I would genuinely marry.”

Samuel L. Jackson ‘loves’ getting to play Nick Fury

OHMYGOSSIP — Samuel L. Jackson “loves” getting to play Nick Fury.
The 73-year-old actor has played the role of the super-spy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise for a total of 11 films so far and claimed that there is “special” about a guy who has “no superpowers” in a superhero series.
He said: “I love Nick Fury. Of course. Come on. He’s a guy who has no superpowers, who’s in charge of people who have superpowers, and they let him be. That’s something special about him. He’s a leader of men that are very different, in another kind of way.”
The ‘Pulp Fiction’ star went on to explain that it is “very satisfying” to be a part of the comic book series he has admired since childhood, noting that he still buys comic books and that it “means something” to be part of Marvel’s “cultural canon.”
He told Collider: “It’s very satisfying to be a part of a world that I admired for so long when I was a kid. I still buy comic books. I still go to comic book stores. I still read them. But to be able to be that character in that, it’s the same as when I was doing Afro Samurai, or any of those comic book characters. It means something to be part of a cultural canon that people revere and that they respect, in another way.”
Samuel also claimed that because he has been playing the role for so many years, he knows how the character should be portrayed, despite writers sometimes telling him to play it like some of his previous “smart a**” characters.”
He added: ” I’ve been doing Nick Fury for so long, I know what he sounds like and I know how he thinks and how he feels. I know writers sit at home and write. If the writer is a fan of that kind of thing – the superhero genre – they know how to do it. I’ve had directors who have written comic books, so when they say, ‘Say it the way I wrote it,” you can go, ‘Okay, so we’re doing comic book speak.’ Then, I’ll have directors who’ll say, ‘Say it like Nick Fury would say it!’ or Say it like you as Nick Fury would say it’ which means, ‘Say it like Jules [from ‘Pulp Fiction’]or Ordell ([from ‘Jackie Brown’], or any of those smart-a** characters that you’ve played before..”

Lisa Simpson voice actor believes there will be a second Simpsons movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Simpson voice actor Yeardley Smith believes there will be a second ‘Simpsons’ movie.
The 57-year-old actress – who has voiced the main character on the long-running animated sitcom since 1989 – has revealed she would like the sequel to 2007’s ‘The Simpsons Movie’ to be a festive film.
Speaking with The Movie Dweeb, she said: “I do really believe that there will be a number two, and my pitch is that it should be a Christmas movie, so that it has annual relevance for the rest of time.”
Her idea just so happens to align with producer Al Jean’s concept for the final episode of the show.
He recently said: “I mentioned that there would be an ending where the last episode, they’d be going back to the Christmas pageant from the first episode, so that the whole series was a continuous loop.
“That’s how I would end it, if I had to.”
‘The Simpsons Movie’ saw Homer Simpson pollute Springfield’s water supply and become encased in a gigantic dome by the EPA and the Simpsons are declared fugitives.
The film proved a huge success, pulling in over $500 million at the box office (£390 million).
Yeardley insisted the show is going nowhere anytime soon.
She said: “We had a pickup for 33 and 34, but I feel like we would be given a pretty big heads-up for the last season because, at the very least, Disney who bought Fox, all but Fox News and Fox Sports, part of the reason they bought it was for The Simpsons.
“Also, if it was the last season, I think they would want to capitalise on that and make bazillions on advertising.”
The French star said there will always be an “appetite” for ‘The Simpsons’.
Yeardley added that: “Considering how much content streaming services need … If somebody is literally going to binge your whole series in a weekend, you’re f*****! How do you keep that voracious appetite fed? It’s a huge thing.”

Shaughna Phillips plans to keep mystery man out of the spotlight

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaughna Phillips wants to keep her mystery man out of the public eye.
The 27-year-old star is loving life with her new boyfriend and her two French Bulldogs – but Shaughna is determined to keep her romance out of the spotlight.
Shaughna – who shot to fame on ‘Love Island’ in 2020 – told the ‘So This Is Adulting’ podcast: “I’ve been dating someone who is also a surrogate dad to my fur babies.”
Asked if her new boyfriend was famous, the TV star replied: “No, no, no … I used to say [to my dates], ‘I’d like to keep my relationship private, if that’s OK with you?’
“And if they said, ‘Oh no, why would you keep my private?’ I’m like, red flag. But this guy was like, ‘I don’t ever want to be in the public eye anyway,’ and I was like, I like that answer.
“Ever since then, we’ve been going from strength to strength, and I like that because anyone who opts in for everyone to know their every move, like myself, is weird.”
Meanwhile, Shaughna previously confessed to feeling like “the token fat girl” when she appeared on ‘Love Island’.
The reality star said it felt like “hell” comparing herself to the other babes on the ITV2 dating show.
She shared: “After watching the show back, I looked amazing, but I didn’t feel confident. I felt I was the token ‘fat girl’ or a tick-box exercise for the show to be more body inclusive.”
Shaughna suffers from lipoedema diagnosis – a condition that causes fat cells to develop on legs and arms – and the South African heat made her symptoms even worse.
She said: “During the trials, none of the outfits would fit me and I used to think, ‘This is hell.’ I felt like I had to be the ‘funny girl’ as all the other girls were so pretty and skinny. I’d cry to the show’s therapist and say, ‘I feel so fat’, but she helped me think more clearly.”

Nicola Adams and Ella Baig expecting a boy

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Adams and Ella Baig are expecting a baby boy.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star and her partner revealed in February that the blogger was pregnant with their first child and the pair were delighted to discover they are having a son.
Nicola said: “It’s super cool. I’m excited, happy, nervous and just wondering what to expect.
“All my friends have boys, so I was like: ‘Yes!’ when I found out.”
To reveal the news they are expecting a son, the couple threw pink and blue at a blank canvas before covering it with a rainbow of paint splatters and handprints and peeling back vinyl letters to show the words “It’s a boy”.
And the pair were keen to reject gender stereotypes when revealing the baby’s sex.
Ella explained to HELLO! magazine: “Being part of the LGBTQ community, I am aware of the issues surrounding gender reveals, as they often reinforce gender stereotypes.
“I thought this was a good opportunity to bring awareness to the difference between sex and gender and make it less stereotypical. We started off with the pink and blue, then got rid of it.”
The 24-year-old influencer, who is in her second trimester, joked the baby is already showing signs of taking after boxer Nicola.
She said: “I think it’s safe to say the baby is a fighter.
“It’s definitely an active baby. From about 17 weeks I was feeling kicks and whenever we went for a scan – I don’t even know what it was doing – perhaps backflips. I can actually see it moving in my stomach right now.”
The couple’s first embryo didn’t take, while their second IVF attempt saw Ella suffer a miscarriage at eight weeks, but she and Nicola want their story to offer “hope” to others in a similar situation.
Ella said: “I hope our story gives hope to other couples who might be in our position.
“As soon as we started our journey and experienced miscarriage, I realised how little we know about it but also how common it is, and I knew I wanted to talk openly about it.”

The Welsh physician – who is sharing his renovation projects via the Instagram page @dralexrenovates – added: “With all of the current devastation in Ukraine, I have decided I would love one of the cottages to be home to a Ukrainian family for as long as they need.
“My plan is to start the renovations and get the properties into a good state to house a family as soon as possible. If you’d like to follow me along on my renovation journey, go and follow @dralexrenovates.”

Alex – who was appointed the UK’s Youth Mental Health Ambassador by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2021 – believes it’s vital to take the time for self-care in order to help with his mental health and insisted the “little things” that make up a daily routine – such as finding the time to go outside or to have a bath in the evening – are essential.
He said: “I focus on trying to do the little things. This morning I didn’t get a chance to [go outside]. I noticed it doesn’t get my day in the right rhythm and I didn’t feel as good. I don’t feel as clear or as calm.

Rachel Zegler having ‘magical’ time filming Snow White

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Zegler thinks working on ‘Snow White’ is “magical”.
The 20-year-old actress is currently shooting the live adaptation of the classic fairytale – in which she has the lead role – and she admitted she has to “pinch herself” every day because she’s still so shocked to be a Disney princess.
Asked by ‘Live from E!: Grammys’ host Laverne Cox about starring in the film, Rachel – who has been busy filming in London – said: “It’s going really, really well.
“We’re having so much fun on set, it’s so magical. And every day I’m pinching myself that I’m a Disney princess.
“It’s so stupid.”
Rachel previously admitted she “never in a million years” expected to land the role because of her Latin heritage.
She said: “Never in a million years did I imagine that this would be a possibility for me.
“You don’t normally see Snow Whites that are of Latin descent. Even though Snow White is really a big deal in Spanish-speaking countries. ‘Blancanieves’ is a huge icon whether you’re talking about the Disney cartoon or just different iterations and the Grimm fairy tale and all the stories that come with it.
“But you don’t particularly see people who look like me or are me playing roles like that.”
Rachel’s casting as the classic character sparked a backlash from some users on social media but the ‘West Side Story’ star says is determined to win over them with her performance in the film.
She recalled: “When it was announced, it was a huge thing that was trending on Twitter for days, because all of the people were angry.
“We need to love them in the right direction. At the end of the day, I have a job to do that I’m really excited to do. I get to be a Latina princess.”

‘Mission: Impossible 8’ to feature ‘biggest and most expensive stunts’ yet

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise is reportedly planning some of the “biggest and most expensive stunts to date” for ‘Mission: Impossible 8’.
The 59-year-old Hollywood star – who plays IMF agent Ethan Hunt in the blockbuster action-adventure franchise – is believed to have hired “three bi-planes” for his stunts after learning how to fly a World War II plane, the 1943 Boeing Stearman Model 75, in the UK last year.
The ‘Top Gun’ star – whose heavily delayed seventh ‘Mission: Impossible’ film won’t hit cinemas until 2023 – has been filming the next movie in Limpopo, South Africa, but is said to be staying in Hoedspruit and making a “400-mile” trip in a chopper to set “most days”.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Tom doesn’t do anything by halves and just like ‘Mission: Impossible 7’, the eighth film is going to be absolutely huge. No expense has been spared for this production.
“Tom and the team have flown to Limpopo, in South Africa, for filming and have set up a huge base there. He is staying in Hoedspruit, and has been flying the 400-mile round-trip for filming by helicopter most days.”
The insider added how fans can expect “absolutely massive” scenes from the big-budget flick.
They said: “The action on the production is only just getting started and Tom is going to be working on some of the franchise’s biggest and most expensive stunts to date.
“He has hired three bi-planes for stunts he was rehearsing in the UK last year. Tom learned to fly the planes and now he’ll put all that into practice.
“The scenes are going to be absolutely massive and some of the most impressive ever seen in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ films.”
Tom is also set to fly planes in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and previously promised fans that there has “never been” an aerial scene quite like the one that will be featured in the movie – the sequel to the 1986 hit ‘Top Gun’.
The actor, who will reprise the part of Lieutenant Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, recalled: “I said to the studio, ‘You don’t know how hard this movie’s going to be. No one’s ever done this before.’
“There’s never been an aerial sequence shot this way. I don’t know if there ever will be again, to be honest.”

The ‘Pulp Fiction’ co-stars will team up for the dark comedy that sees the pair return to familiar territory of hijinks and hired guns.
The story has been written by Jonathan Jacobson and follows a hitman, his boss (Jackson), an art dealer (Thurman) and a money-laundering scheme that accidentally turns the assassin into an overnight sensation and forces her to play the art world against the underworld.
Nicol Paone is set to direct with Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman and Jon Keeyes producing under their Yale Productions banner.
Production will get underway this spring in New Jersey and New York.
Paone said: “Getting to make ‘The Kill Room’ – an already incredible script – with Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson is beyond my wildest dreams.

Samuel recently revealed that he prefers to star in “popcorn movies” and gravitates towards projects he enjoyed when he was younger.
The 73-year-old star – who has appeared in ‘Star Wars’ and the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchises during a prolific film career – said: “I don’t do a lot of cinematic character studies. I tend to do popcorn movies and movies that I would have gone to see when I was a kid, movies that make me happy. Because, I think, people go to the movies to be drawn into joy and excitement of life.”

Call the Midwife will start filming ‘very soon’

OHMYGOSSIP — The new series of ‘Call the Midwife’ will begin shooting “very soon”.
The 11th season of ‘Call the Midwife’ came to a dramatic close a few weeks ago, and the cast and crew are now already preparing to return to work.
Megan Cusack – who plays the part of Nancy Corrigan – told RadioTimes.com: “It’s coming very soon. So just really excited to get together with everyone again because everyone’s so lovely. It’s like a family. The crew are great. It’s great craic.
“It’s that weird time in between where you’re like, ‘I’d actually just like to be with everyone still!'”
Helen George is also looking forward to the show’s return.
And she’s particularly happy that a lot of the COVID-related restrictions have been eased before the start of filming.
She said: “What’s nice is we’re not going to have COVID restrictions for the first time in a few years, which will be wonderful.”
The first series of ‘Call the Midwife’ aired in 2012, and Heidi Thomas – the creator of the hit period drama – previously admitted to being amazed by the show’s success.
The 59-year-old writer recalled being in “shock” when she heard that millions of people were watching the first series.
She shared: “I think we were all hugely surprised by the popularity of the show. Simply because for a very long time before we started to film it people told us nobody would watch it. They used to say young women will be frightened by it, older women will be disgusted by it, men won’t watch it at all, and I used to think well nobody will watch this show.
“The very first time it went out we got eight million overnight viewers and I think we were in a sort of shock.”

Lauren Goodger rekindles romance with Charles Drury

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger has “decided to forgive” Charles Drury.
The 35-year-old star and Charles – who have Larose, eight months, together – recently rekindled their romance after he pulled out all the stops in a bid to win her back.
A source told new! magazine: “Lauren and Charles got back together last week. Charles has been pulling out all the stops and stepped his game up when it comes to being there for Lauren and Larose.”
Lauren and Charles, 24, called time on their romance in November, after it emerged that he slept with beauty therapist Amy Gilbert while they were on a break.
However, Lauren – who is pregnant with their second child – has never stopped loving Charles and she’s now decided to give their relationship another try.
The insider explained: “Lauren was really defiant about the whole thing. She mulled over the idea of getting back with him for a long time. She was really strong about it.
“For her there was no going back, but he really stepped up to the mark.
“She does love him and she likes the relationship they have. She decided to forgive him and take him back, but it wasn’t an easy decision for Lauren to make and she sought advice from others.
“Every relationship has its ups and downs, but as long as it stays as it is right now, she’ll continue with the relationship.”
Despite this, Lauren has already warned Charles that he’s on his last chance.
The source said: “This is Charlie’s last chance and if it doesn’t work out, she’s was already prepared to be a single mum anyway.
“Lauren was worried about the trolls coming out in force, but she would like people to remember that a lot of people have been in the same position as her and to be kind and respect her decision.”
