Homes Under the Hammer host Martin Roberts rushed to hospital ‘with hours to live’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ host Martin Roberts was rushed to hospital “with hours to live”, due to a “serious” heart condition.
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant is grateful he is “here to tell the tale” of how he had to be admitted to a medical facility, where it was found there was fluid surrounding his heart.
In a video posted to Twitter, the 58-year-old TV presenter told his followers: “So. Bit of a shocker. Thankfully I’m here to tell the tale…
“Well, I have to say this isn’t where I expected to be watching ‘Homes Under the Hammer’.
“Little bit of good news, little bit of bad news. I ended up in hospital in Bath yesterday.
“I had a few chest pains and just feeling generally lousy, so I was brought in here and turns out I had a massive amount of fluid all around my heart, which was actually stopping my heart working.
“Had they not got rid of it, which they did in an emergency operation last night, then it’s sort of quite serious, like, hours to live kind of c***.”
Martin has thanked God that he is “still around” following the health scare.
He said: “So here I am, still around, thank goodness, thank God and angels, all those things.”
The television personality promised he would keep everyone updated on his health developments, as he joked about watching his property programme while he recovered.
Martin said: “There’s lots of other complicated things that have happened as a result, but we will work through those, and I’ll keep you updated.
“Meanwhile, there’s a good TV show on that I think I’ll watch here.”
Lucy Alexander, his co-host on the BBC show sent Martin her well wishes.
The 52-year-old TV presenter commented: “Omg … omg sending you the BIGGEST hug ever. Love ya mate. (sic)”

Liam Payne rented out entire football stadium to train for Soccer Aid

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne rented an entire football stadium to train for this year’s ‘Soccer Aid’.
The former One Direction star leased Billericay FC’s ground to practice for the charity football tournament – which will be co-hosted by Dermot O’Leary and Alex Scott – during which he will captain the England XI opposite Usain Bolt’s World XI on 12 June on ITV.
Liam asked his pal, former Nottingham Forest defender Greg Halford, who now plays for Billericay, if he would be able to rent out the stadium.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Liam asked Greg on the off-chance him and some pals could use the pitch and Greg got the wheels in motion.
“He didn’t look too bad considering he has been telling people he’s nervous to be captaining England in such a big game.
“Him and his mates got stuck in and he was left with a bleeding knee but no lasting damage. Liam looked in good nick.”
Earlier this week, Liam gave his Instagram followers a taste of his workout regime ahead of playing in ‘Soccer Aid’ alongside the likes of Tom Grennan, Martin Compston, Lucien Laviscount, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Joe Cole in aid of UNICEF.
Speaking about the annual charity match – which was created by pop singer Robbie Williams and his pal Jonathan Wilkes in 2006 – Liam said during an Instagram Live: “I’ve been doing some training, getting ready for England.
“Come on England! How does a man that doesn’t play football, captain the England team?
“It’s a big query for all of us isn’t it, but we’re going to find out. It’s been a stressful one learning to play football actually, but it’s been a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to the game.”

Simon Bird hints at new Inbetweeners movie but rules out TV return

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Bird has hinted he could reunite with his ‘Inbetweeners’ co-stars for a third movie, but they won’t be back for a TV series as “parents”.
The 37-year-old star has admitted “anything’s possible” regarding the future of the franchise, after the TV series aired from 2008 to 2010 followed by two films, ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ and ‘The Inbetweeners 2’, but he is reluctant to play an older version of his character Will McKenzie in a small screen return.
When asked if there was a chance of more ‘Inbetweeners’ but with the main characters playing “embarrassing parents”, he told The Guardian newspaper: “It’s a hard no, I’m afraid.
“It just wouldn’t be the show people want or remember. Much better to leave it as a happy memory.
“Cut to us all doing a third film for Netflix next year … Anything’s possible.”
Simon’s comments come after James Buckley, who played Jay Cartwright in the E4 comedy, recently admitted “there’s not enough money in the world” to convince him to play the character again.
Asked if he would be interested in a return one day, he said: “I don’t want to go near it anymore … not because I don’t think I would have an amazing time doing it, because I know I would.
“I love the boys, I love the writers. Doing ‘The Inbetweeners’ was the best job in the world.
“All we did was muck around all day long and they filmed us doing it, and at the end of the day, we might have had an episode, or a TV, you know, or a film or something. It was the best job in the world.
“But it might – you know, as I’m getting older – it’s looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved. There’s not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.”

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden impresses judges with Lorraine Kelly impression

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Amanda Holden has wowed her fellow panellists with her very own hidden talent.
The 51-year-old TV star – who sits on the panel of the ITV talent show alongside Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell – revealed her secret skill of impressions after she mimicked Scottish TV host Lorraine Kelly.
Contestant Suzy Wilde, who is a comedienne and impressionist – who won The Edinburgh Festival with her impressions of Cheryl Cole, Sharon Osbourne, Kirstie Allsopp, Joanna Lumley and Gordon Ramsay – blew the judges away on the ITV talent show when she took to the stage to take on impressions of Queen Elizabeth, Janet Street-Porter and Gemma Collins.
Feeling inspired, former ‘Wild at Heart’ star Amanda showcased her own talent when she impersonated the ITV breakfast host.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “It was pretty funny. The judges couldn’t stop laughing at her impersonation.”
The mum-of-two – who shares 16-year-old Alexa and 10-year-old Hollie with husband Chris Hughes – also wasn’t afraid to poke fun when a busker auditioned in a dustbin. She joked his rendition of ‘Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life’ on a guitar was a “bit of rubbish.”
This is not the first time the ‘Cutting It’ actress has proved she is a comedy contender, as she surprised her Heart FM co-stars with a Margaret Thatcher impression in November 2020.
While talking to Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts about Netflix’s royal drama ‘The Crown’, Amanda said in the former conservative Prime Minister’s voice: “I really like her [Gillian Anderson] as Margaret Thatcher.”
To which former Pussycat Doll Ashley said: “Oh my god, that’s so good!”
Amanda concluded: “I used to do that when I was eight – only with Gladys Pugh from ‘Hi-De-Hi’.”

Simon Cowell finds it ‘a lot easier’ judging Britain’s Got Talent

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell has found it “a lot easier” judging ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ this year.
The 62-year-old music mogul – who is a panellist alongside David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden – admitted on this year’s show he has been judging the acts based on how he would feel if he was watching at home, whether they are different and if they “surprised” him.
Speaking on US TV show ‘Extra’, he said: “I really feel, especially on a show like this, that it’s impossible to be an expert across all the different types of acts we see.
“You can’t be an expert on a dog act, then a singer and then a dancer. No one can.
“So you have to put yourself in a situation as if you are watching the show at home.
“So I found it a lot easier this year because I was just thinking about how I’d feel if I was at home – did I like it? Are they different? Have they surprised me? – and you just have to be honest.”
Simon recently revealed he was left shocked at a “Paul Potts moment” during the new series of ‘BGT’.
He was stunned when a busker called Maxwell – who reminded him of English tenor Paul, who won the first-ever ‘BGT’ series in 2007 – amazed during his audition.
Simon said: “It was a real surprise. I had no idea he was going to sing like that. He was so shy and I was praying it was going to work out for him.
“It was very much like the Paul Potts moment.”
‘BGT’ has returned this year after a one-year break, after it was decided not to film in 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.

Dame Helen Mirren desperate for Fast X role

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren has hinted that she will feature in ‘Fast X’.
The 76-year-old actress portrays Magdalene ‘Queenie’ Shaw in the high-speed franchise and revealed that she is desperate to return for the final chapter of the film series – which stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez.
Asked if she will be seen in the upcoming movie, Helen told TheWrap: “Oh I hope so. Oh my goodness yes, I do hope so.
“I think you will actually.”
Helen – who has played Magdalene in ‘The Fate of the Furious’, ‘F9’ and the spin-off ‘Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw’ – recalled how she persuaded Vin to land her part in the franchise.
The Oscar-winning star said: “I didn’t ask, I begged! I think I was at some function, and he was there, and I got introduced to him. And I was shameless: ‘Oh God, I’d just love to be in one of your movies! Please let me be in it.’
“And then Vin, with that beautiful, deep voice of his, said: ‘I’ll see what I can do.’ And he did it for me. He found this great little role for me, which was perfect. I’d just never done anything like that before — one of those big, big movies. And, in my vanity, I just loved driving and really wanted to do my own driving in a fast car.”
Helen has a close bond with Vin and thinks that the pair have “completely natural chemistry”.
She explained: “That’s completely natural chemistry. It was there right from the very beginning of my first meeting with Vin.
“And I just adored him immediately, and he’s always been so kind and lovely to me. So it was there right from the beginning, and it is very weird. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever on any level, but that’s the weird thing about chemistry, isn’t it? There’s never an explanation for it. It’s just one of those things that happens.”

Kiefer Sutherland: The Contractor isn’t a typical action movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Kiefer Sutherland thinks ‘The Contractor’ differs from a typical action movie.
The 55-year-old actor stars with Chris Pine in Tarik Saleh’s film and says it is more than just a standard movie for the genre.
Kiefer told the i newspaper: “It separates itself from a straight-up action movie, because it deals with things that are actually very moving.”
The flick deals in the murky environment of private contracting and Sutherland says audiences will learn a lot when they watch the film.
The ’24’ star said: “A lot of people (will) have their eyes opened to a world that they just might know about.”
Kiefer is the son of acting legend Donald Sutherland and recalled how he was struck working with his father on the 2015 western ‘Forsaken’.
He recalled: “He’s still the only actor that I’ve actually ever worked with that I caught got looking at.
“He was doing something – and I can’t even remember what it was – that I found just fascinating. I was kind of watching him like a student. And then there was this long pause. It was like, ‘Oh s***! That’s me!’ And I had to say, ‘Sorry!’ I forgot what I was supposed to do.”
Sutherland’s career went through a “dry spell” during the late 1990s after a number of his films flopped and it made him aware that he needed to star in successful projects.
He explained: “I realised that I had to become very selective about what I did, because I’d make a couple of things that just weren’t very successful. If I wasn’t careful, I was going to put myself in a position where I was just not going to be hireable.”

Christian Bale or Daniel Day Lewis were considered for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten considered Christian Bale or Daniel Day Lewis for ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’.
Although the filmmakers managed to convince Nicolas Cage to play himself in the action-comedy, they believe there are only two other actors who could have taken on the role if he refused.
Kevin told The Hollywood Reporter: “There were times when I think I, more than Tom, was trying to talk myself into other ideas. The only actually good idea – I don’t know whose it was – was to have either Christian Bale or Daniel Day-Lewis playing Nic Cage. But really, no. Nobody else who really has a mixture of the super high talent he has and the goodwill of people wanting him to succeed.”
However, convincing Cage to sign on to play a heightened version of himself was not easy.
Kevin explained: “We were told that Nic has done these projects before and he’s not wild about Nic as Nic. And we weren’t two guys who had a huge body of work that you could point to and be like, ‘No, trust us’.
“We knew that we needed to have a real offer to go along with the script. So eventually we got studio interest and once a couple of studios came on board, that’s when it started to become real.”
While the movie is receiving rave reviews, there is one deleted scene that the filmmakers wish they had included.
Kevin said: “The one for me that I miss is there’s a scene when we first meet Javi [Pedro Pascal] and he’s showing Nick around his place. Nick asks what the Wi-Fi password is. Javi kind of stops and there’s clearly something bothering him, and then he starts “N-A-T-I-O-N” and you see it’s ‘National Treasure 2’. And he’s so mortified. And he goes, ‘National Treasure Two colon Book of Secrets.'”

Laura Whitmore hits back at Love Island star

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore has hit back at claims she only got the ‘Love Island’ job because of her husband Iain Stirling.
The 35-year-old TV presenter took over the hosting role from Caroline Flack but former contestant Rachel Finni blasted Laura’s presenting skills and said he only managed to get the job because her spouse is the narrator.
Speaking on Murad Merali’s YouTube channel, Rachel said: “I’m kind of gutted Laura Whitmore is hosting it though, I thought we’d get a Maya Jama or AJ Odudu.
“The benefits you get from being married to the narrator, cos let’s be honest she’s not a great host.
“It is straight up nepotism. I think she suits ‘Countdown’, I’m not trying to be rude. ‘The Weakest Link’. An afternoon game show at 2pm.
“When you think Love Island you don’t think Laura Whitmore.”
However, Laura took to Instagram to defend herself and hit out at Rachel.
She fumed: “I’m not going to give too much energy to it because there’s always stuff like this and you kind of just brush it off but I think we need to be careful when we discuss women and their work.
“I’ve worked in telly for 14 years. I won a competition to be the face of MTV and have stayed working from job to job.
“I’ve done incredible things all over the world, with the best teams, but I’ve never got a job because of a guy I dated.
“And it’s horrible when you see if coming from other women because for so many years women have talked about who they are going out with.
“They’re only defined by who they are going out with, despite all the work and build up leading up to that and they are their own individual person, with their own experience.
“It’s a shame because I think we’re never really going to have full power and empowerment as a sex if we keep doing that.”

Andrea McLean was ‘scared’ to leave Loose Women

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrea McLean was “scared” to leave ‘Loose Women.’
The 52-year-old presenter had been a regular anchor on the ITV lunchtime chat show since 2007 and made the decision to leave towards the end of 2020 in order to focus on her online community but admitted the quitting her daytime TV job was scary.
She said: “When I announced I was leaving, I felt scared. I wanted to do something for my website community, This Girl Is On Fire, because they’d just joined but I was putting down train tracks with the train coming behind me. I came up with a challenge for about 200 women over a private Facebook group, designed to get them out of their comfort zone. Some results were instant and others happened a few months later, and that’s become my new book.”
The former GMTV weathergirl – who presented ‘Loose Women’ in rotation with the likes of Christine Lampard, Kaye Adams and Ruth Langsford but was ultimately replaced by newsreader Charlene White – went on to explain that while she is not in touch with all of her former co-stars since quitting the show, it was so “good” to go back onto the panel as a guest earlier this month.
She told Metro Newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “[I’m not in touch with] everybody but that’s the same as anyone who works in an office. Even when I was there, we didn’t really go out very often because we live all over the country but there’s texting and messaging, and it was so good to go back on as a guest recently.”
Andrea also explained that she plans to write more books since leaving behind her career in television and revealed that she only ended up on-screen because she “misread” an advert.
She said: “Writing is my first love and why I moved to London to go to journalism college. I misread a job advert that turned out to be working as a weather presenter for the Weather Channel. I ignored the ‘onscreen presence’ bit and certainly didn’t have a showreel. But I got it. From there I went to GMTV in 1996 and left in 2020 so I finally feel like I’m back doing what I originally wanted to do.”
Andrea’s latest book – ‘You Just Need To Believe It: 10 Ways In 10 Days To Unlock Your Courage And Reclaim Your Power’ is out now.

David Walliams: Being a dad is the best part of my life

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams says being a father is “the best part of [his] life”.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has gushed about being a dad to eight-year-old son Alfred – whom he has with his ex-wife Lara Stone – and shared a sweet insight into their bond.
He told OK!: “We have loads of in-jokes and things like that. It is just the most wonderful thing making your kid laugh. The most wonderful thing about kids is that if they find something funny, you can do it every day.
So I sit the dog on my lap and do the dog’s voice to him and he thinks that is hilarious. It is the most wonderful thing being a dad. It is the best part of my life by a long way.”
David previously revealed becoming a dad rescued him from depression.
He shared in 2019: “I have had struggles with depression in the past.
“There have been periods through my life when I’ve been very, very down and it’s been very long-lasting.”
However, the ‘Little Britain’ star admitted being a parent means there is little time to dwell on your own problems.
He said: “I’m certainly in a better place now and one great thing about becoming a parent.
“Your whole life starts revolving around them and you do stop dwelling on your own problems so much, because you don’t have time to.”
David also acknowledged that his depression was triggered by a variety of different factors.
Asked what led to his low spells, the comedian – whose marriage to Lara lasted from 2010 until 2015 – explained: “A variety of things, end of relationships … all kinds of things can take you to a very bleak place.”
David urged anyone going through similar dark moments in their own lives to seek professional help.
He said: “Seek help and not feel ashamed … I did and that really, really helped.”

Director Robert Eggers ‘didn’t sit through’ The Northman at the premiere

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Eggers “didn’t sit through” the premiere of ‘The Northman’.
The 38-year-old filmmaker directed the 2022 epic historical action film starring Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman but admitted that he is unable to watch it at its premier on Friday (15.04.22) because he had already seen it so many times before.
He said: “[The premiere] was amazing. I mean, I didn’t sit through [it] because the last time I was in London finishing the film I watched the film 19 times in two weeks. So I can’t really sit through. But the reactions have been really great .”
However, the movie maker – who is also known for honing acclaimed horror films’ The Witch’ and ‘The Lighthouse’ – added that his “favourite” part of the whole filmmaking process is actually being on set.
He told Collider: “And look, my favourite part of making movies is being on set. But the most important part is sharing it with an audience. And I’m so like thrilled to finally be able to do that. Because otherwise what’s the point, you know?”
Robert also went on to admit that he “knew” the movie was going to be a big hit and praised Focus Studios for being “really great” when it came to shooting around problems caused by COVID-19.
He said: “Before I gave this script to the studio, I knew that it was going to be so big that I was not going to have final cut. I knew that was going to happen. And it was a risk that I was willing to take. And the studio was really great in pushing this movie forward and staying with it all through COVID when a lot of movies died. But the editing process was incredibly difficult because I promised them the most entertaining Robert Eggers movie I could possibly make.”
