Russell T Davies plans storyline for It’s A Sin series two

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T Davies has planned out the plot for a second series of ‘It’s A Sin’.
The hit Channel 4 drama’s executive producer Nicola Shindler has opened up about the writer’s ideas for a potential second run, which would feature Jill (Lydia West) and Roscoe (Omari Douglas) in the present day as campaigners.
Speaking during a BAFTA Sessions event, she said: “There were a lot of stories about young boys being manipulated online and it was something Russell was really concerned about.
“He thought, what if you cut to the present day and Jill and Roscoe are out there to stop people doing this?
“There are so many vulnerable people that need looking after or need some kind of attention shining on them.”
Nicola – who suggested Russell is keen to expand the series, which was set during the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s – explained that the showrunner had a clear idea of what the purpose of another series would be.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column, she added: “He just wanted to pick it up in the present day and say there are still so many people out there who need protecting. That was the point of it.”
Meanwhile, the 58-year-old screenwriter previously admitted while he knew from the outset how the drama would end, he was initially undecided about the route to the finish.
He said: “I just always knew there would be a Jill and I always know it would simply end – I wasn’t exactly sure what would happen in the story, but I knew whatever happened in the story would end with her going back on a ward to sit with a stranger.
“I thought that was the important thing. Not many friends, not many family – actually strangers are there.”

Justin Lin quits Fast X as long-time franchise director steps down

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Lin has stepped down as director of ‘Fast X’.
The 50-year-old filmmaker – who was at the helm of the first five instalments in the franchise – has revealed he won’t be taking the lead for the upcoming movie, which is already in production and set to drop in May 2023.
In a statement, he said: “With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of ‘Fast X’, while remaining with the project as a producer.
“Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases.”
Lin noted his pride in the film series’ diverse cast, and he added he will “forever be grateful” to everyone involved in the movies.
He continued: “On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history.
“I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family.”
The director had also been attached to direct the next two movies in the franchise, with the final three films set out as a trilogy.
As it stands, there is currently no word on who will be replacing him at the helm.
Lin’s announcement comes just days after Vin Diesel revealed the film’s ‘Fast X’ title and confirmed production was underway.
Earlier this month, he also announced that Brie Larson had joined the cast of the movie and celebrated the news with an Instagram post.
He captioned a snap of the pair: “Clearly there is love and laughter in this image.
“What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in ‘Fast 10’. You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie.”
The movie is also set to feature the likes of Cardi B, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and incoming star Jasom Momoa.

Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves confirmed for The Batman sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Batman’ sequel has been confirmed with Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson confirmed to return.
Warner Bros. announced that following the success of the DC blockbuster starring the 35-year-old actor as the Caped Crusader, Robert will reprise the role for a second movie with Matt set to direct the follow-up.
Speaking at the CinemaCon event on Tuesday (26.04.22), the filmmaker said: “Thank you all for your tremendous support for ‘The Batman’. We couldn’t have gotten here without the faith and enthusiasm of all your teams around the world.
“I’m excited to jump back into this world for the next chapter.”
‘The Batman’ – which also starred Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler and Colin Farrell as Penguin – made $750 million at the global box office.
As well as a sequel, Matt is working on ‘The Penguin’ spin-off series with Colin.
There was also set to be another ‘The Batman’ prequel series on HBO Max, but it was “put on hold”.
Matt said recently: “One thing that we’re not doing that I was gonna do… So, there’s the Gotham police show, which, that one actually is put on hold. We’re not really doing that.”
The series – which would follow Gotham City Police – “wasn’t going to be a Batman story”.
He said: “It wasn’t going to be a Batman story. It was going to be about this corrupt cop, and it was going to be about how the worst gang in Gotham were the GCPD. And [Bruce] would have touched paths with [Commissioner] Gordon. It would have been someone to measure him against, but it would be a battle for his soul.”
The ‘Cloverfield’ director claimed that the streaming service liked some of the ideas, but not about a corrupt cop.
He said: “They didn’t not like the idea, they just wanted to center a show on a character who was more—I get it, so maybe someday we’ll do that show.'”

Ferne McCann moves in with new beau Lorri Haines

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann has moved in with her boyfriend Lorri Haines.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star’s new beau – who moved back to Essex, where his son from a previous relationship lives, from Dubai – is set to feature in Ferne’s new series of ‘Ferne McCann: First Time Mum’.
Viewers will see Ferne and Lorri make the decision to take their relationship to the next stage by living under the same roof, and the reality star says it’s what’s best for her and her four-year-old daughter, Sunday, whom she has with ex Arthur Collins.
Ferne said: “Yes, we made the decision to move in together, which you see in the show, so that’s really exciting. His son lives in Essex, and he made the decision to move back from Dubai. So we thought long and hard as a couple about what would be best for our families and we’ve made this decision. It’s been just amazing and I’m very excited about our future.
“He’s the first and only person that I see a future with – not only for me but for Sunday as well. I always used to want to find someone for me, but after previous relationships, I’ve learnt that me and Sunday come as one, and if you want to be with me then you’re very much going to be with Sunday as well.”
Ferne admitted they were both “nervous” about Lorri being on the show, but she was impressed with how he’s “handled” being on camera.
She told OK!: “I think we were both a little nervous. I was nervous for him because I’ve been doing it for such a long time.
But, not blowing my own trumpet, whoever is filming with me, I like to make it as easy as possible. And it does feel quite natural. Lorri has done really well and he’s handled it really well.”
Ferne also admitted that her exes not wanting to take part in her show in the past was “straining” on their relationships.
She said: “I’m so, so proud of ‘First Time Mum’, it’s so close to my heart because I started it at a time where I was pregnant – my world felt like it was very upside down – and there was a lot of uncertainty in my life. But I had this show to really get stuck into.
“Ever since that moment, it’s evolved and grown with me and Sunday. But in terms of relationships, my past two didn’t want to be involved with my show, or be on it and it was very straining on the relationship. I almost questioned how I felt about my show, which is madness because I know the work that goes into it and the amount of people that love it. I love being a part of it, so it’s quite sad that I felt like that.”
‘Ferne McCann: First Time Mum’ airs from May 4 at 9pm on ITVBe.

EastEnders’ Stuart Highway to suffer from postnatal depression

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Stuart Highway is to suffer from postnatal depression.
The BBC One soap have teamed up with charities PANDAS and Mind for the hard-hitting storyline, which will see the funeral director – who is played by Ricky Champ – struggle to bond with his newborn son Roland.
Annie Belasco, Head of the Charity PANDAS – which aims to be the most recognised and trusted support service for families and their networks who may be suffering with perinatal mental illness – said: “PANDAS Foundation were delighted to hear that ‘EastEnders’ intended to produce a storyline highlighting postnatal depression in men.
“We enjoyed advising the team around the postnatal depression aspect of Stuart’s journey which we feel will be relatable to many fathers struggling to bond with their baby.
“Postnatal depression in fathers is still a much undiscovered and stigmatised area, which is why it is so imperative that awareness is shared in no doubt that men who may be feeling unwell with symptoms of postnatal depression can seek the support that they need at an early interventional stage.
“A full recovery of any low level perinatal mental illness, with the right support is possible.”
Stuart was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and recently agreed to treatment for the sake of his son, but as he struggles to connect with Roland, it will lead to him questioning his love for his boy.
Alex Bushill, Head of Media PR at Mind, added: “When people see mental health problems portrayed sensitively on screen, it raises awareness and encourages people to seek support for their mental health.
“So, it’s great to see ‘EastEnders’ dedicating airtime to exploring such an important issue.
“I hope this story helps highlight how depression can impact new dads and encourage dads to seek help if they need it.
“Whatever you’re going through, you’re not alone. And you deserve respect and support.”

Margot Robbie’s Barbie to be released in summer 2023

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ movie will be released in summer 2023.
Warner Bros. confirmed that the picture will launch in cinemas on July 21, 2023 at CinemaCon on Tuesday (26.04.22) evening.
The movie will feature Margot as the titular doll and she leads an all-star cast that includes Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera and Will Ferrell.
Greta Gerwig has directed the flick and has penned the script with Noah Baumbach. Production has already started on the movie.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but insiders have suggested that there is a meta aspect to the story. Ferrell is said to be playing the CEO of a toy company that may or may not be Mattel.
As well as acting, Margot is producing the project via her LuckyChap banner with her husband Tom Ackerley. Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and the ‘Paddington’ producer David Heyman are also involved in the production.
Margot has long been attached to play Barbie on the big screen and promised that the movie will be very different to what people are expecting.
The 31-year-old actress said: “Something like Barbie where the IP, the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, ‘Oh Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is’, but our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different – the thing you didn’t know you wanted.'”
The ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ star is hoping to provoke “thoughtful conversation” with the film.
Margot said: “Now, can we truly honour the IP and the fan base and also surprise people? Because if we can do all that and provoke a thoughtful conversation, then we’re really firing on all cylinders.”

She snuggles up to me all the time and she even tries to sit on my neck, which can make watching TV a little difficult and I have to move her…But she is lovely!”

Bathroom retailer ‘inundated’ with at-home urinal requests after Adrian Chiles’ revelation

OHMYGOSSIP — A bathroom retailer has been “inundated” with requests for at-home urinals after Adrian Chiles revealed he has one installed in his house.
The former ‘The One Show’ presenter’s confession sparked debate last week, but it has also led to numerous people looking into the possibility of the alternative toilet choice.
Joe Pascoe, from Victorian Plumbing, said: “We would usually receive one or two inbound enquiries a year about installing urinals in homes or apartments but last Friday, we were inundated with requests.
“On Saturday the team took over 80 different requests both online and on call.
“People were keen to know whether they were common in people’s homes, how much they cost and how quickly they could be installed.
“One person even asked if they could install multiple urinals in their three homes!
“Urinals are commonplace in public spaces like stadiums, parks and shopping centres, but to have them in a house is still pretty unusual. They require specialised plumbing systems that differentiate from installing normal toilets but given the increase in interest, we are actively considering adding options to our Autumn range.”
It comes after Adrian told of his at-home urinal, which has a stained glass window above it decorated with the crest of his favourite football team, West Bromwich Albion.
In a column for the Guardian newspaper, Adrian wrote: “I was also reminded of the urinal I have in my flat, sitting below a stained glass window, featuring West Brom’s crest. I’m very proud of it – the urinal more than the crest. I’m a great enthusiast for urinals in the home. This is an enthusiasm shared by very few people, especially women, who have been known to retch at the very sight of it. This baffles me. Many a chap has been chastised about his incompetent use of conventional toilets – poor aim, not putting the seat down, and so on. Well, here’s the answer: a receptacle at the correct height for ease of use, which is neat, tidy, clean and flushable. It changed my life. Gentlemen – or anyone with a penis – trust me: it is wonderful to have a toilet of one’s own.”
Victorian Plumbing has launched the ultimate toilet guidebook for even the most seasoned travellers, EncycLoopedia which is available for a limited time only via https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/encycloopedia-toilet-travel-guide

But Paddy insisted he will “be back” and reassured fans is “getting there”.
He added: “I wouldn’t say I’m great, but I’m getting there.
“I will be back stronger.”

Strictly star Neil Jones wants to dance with Theresa May

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Jones wants to dance with Theresa May.
The 39-year-old dancer – who is best known for his role as a professional on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – thinks the former Prime Minister would be “brilliant” on the ballroom competition, after she famously showed off her moves to ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ at the Tory Party conference in 2018.
He said: “We haven’t had a politician on the show for a while and they’re always great value. Theresa May would be brilliant – she’d be a real challenge as we’ve all seen her try to dance.”
Neil – who was paired with former ‘EastEnders’ actress Nina Wadia and eliminated first in last year’s edition of the Saturday night favourite – added that the Conservative MP’s dancing was “not good”, but believes he could teach her a thing or two about “Latin rhythm.”
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz Column as saying: “It wasn’t good. I reckon I could get some Latin rhythm into those stiff hips, though. Anything is possible!”
The show has previously featured politicians such as Ann Widdecombe – who danced with Anton Du Beke in 2010 – and former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, who finished in sixth place with pro Katya Jones in 2016, after treating audiences to a memorable performance of the salsa to Psy hit ‘Gangnam Style’.
Neil is set to return to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ when the annual competition hits screens again in the autumn and is part of an already confirmed lineup that includes fellow professionals Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova and Nancy Xu.

Baz Luhrmann: Elvis is a superhero

OHMYGOSSIP — Baz Luhrmann has described his ‘Elvis’ biopic as a “superhero film”.
The 59-year-old director has helmed the upcoming movie that stars Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll and branded the late music icon as the “original superhero”.
Speaking at the Warner Bros. CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Baz explained: “You know, while I was looking at that little reel and I’m thinking it feels a bit like a superhero film.
“It is because I actually think Elvis is kind of the original superhero. And I mean that he comes from dirt, and in a few blinding moments, he rises so high, he finds his kryptonite, and also love. And then a beautiful, powerful tragedy ensues.”
Luhrmann thinks that the film – which also features Tom Hanks and Olivia DeJonge – is more than a mere biopic and tells the story of America between the 1950s and 1970s.
The ‘Great Gatsby’ director explained: “I love biopics, but this is not really a biopic, right? It’s really about, for me, America in the 50s and the 60s and the 70s.
“And if you want to talk about America in the 50s and 60s and the 70s at the centre of culture, for the good, the bad and the ugly, is a figure (like) Elvis Presley.
“What this movie is about is those three epochs – Elvis the rebel, Elvis the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, and Elvis the living legend, the icon trapped in that hotel not 10 minutes from here, by a man called Colonel Tom Parker.”
Baz continued: “But Elvis is at the centre of it. And, you know, I really wanted to also explore this tension between these two great American things, I absolutely love them.
“And it’s what defines I think the new of America you know, the fact that it can bring all these different elements together and create something new that’s the artistic gesture, the invention, the inventiveness.”
