OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Tomlinson sent the ‘Coronation Street’ cast fan mail after Seb Franklin was killed off.
The ‘Royle Family’ legend was impressed with the storyline surrounding the murder of Seb – who was played by Harry Visinoni – and he wanted to write a letter to let them know how much he appreciated the emotionally-charged scenes.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “The stuff that was going on in ‘Coronation Street’ last summer was absolutely amazing. Some of the performances were magical.
“It was the storyline about the young lad Seb being beaten to death. The episodes were absolutely superb. So I wrote a letter on headed notepaper.
“I addressed it to the cast of ‘Coronation Street’ and I just put, ‘The stuff you’re doing is fantastic’. It’s nice to give a little back.”
The 82-year-old actor is no stranger to soap land, having appeared as Bobby Grant on ‘Brookside’ between 1982 and 1988.
He added: “I love the soaps. I watch them all.”
For the intense storyline, ‘Corrie’ bosses worked closely with The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, a group focused on tackling hate crime to getting a better understanding of the reality of social exclusion and prejudice experienced by some groups in society in honour of Sophie, a teen who was murdered by a group while walking through a park with her boyfriend.
Last year, Sally Carman (Abi Webster) won the Best Actress accolade at the Inside Soap Awards following the death of her on-screen son Seb.
She said in her acceptance speech: “This is ace. I’m just so happy to be getting these storylines – and to be recognised for doing a good job is the best feeling.
“The writing of the storyline was so beautiful, so it was an honour to be asked to deliver those words.”
Gary Gillatt, the editor of Inside Soap, added: “The 36th annual Inside Soap Awards are dominated not so much by one soap as a single storyline: the hate crime attack on Coronation Street’s Seb and Nina, and the ripple effect it had on their families and community.
“It’s the kind of intimate story – taking us close to an all-too-real tragedy – that packs a punch, delivered by the most talented and popular actors working in Britain today.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Vakili rushed to hospital after a rash left her feeling like her body was “burning”.
The former ‘Love Island’ star took to Instagram to show fans pictures of red marks all over her body, and she headed to a medical facility after being left unsure what was causing it.
She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “I’ve been taking antihistamines since yesterday just hoping it will go down soon. Literally all over my back and front as well.
“So many DMS thank you for all the messages.
“Came to hospital to get it checked because it’s spreading. keep you updated.
“For everyone asking I haven’t taken anything new or used anything new or even eaten anything that I don’t always eat. (sic)”
The 31-year-old pharmacist later shared a video on her Instagram after she had spoken to a doctor, and revealed she had been prescribed some stronger antihistamines and a dose of steroids in a bid to rid her of the rash.
She said: “I basically told the doctor to prescribe me some prescription-only antihistamines and some steroids. So I’m going to take a short course of steroids and antihistamines, and hopefully it will go. Because it’s horrible.”
Last month, Anna told how she feared she was going die after she and her sister Mandi underwent Brazilian butt lift surgery in Turkey.
She said: “We went to too far when we did it again.
“The second time we did it, we went abroad to Turkey and me and Mandi thought we were going to die abroad. It was very scary.
“After our surgery, within a day or two, we were in a hotel room about to faint with blood all over the hotel room.
“It was like a murder scene, we both collapsed in hotel room. Bandaged up, bleeding … it was like a horror movie.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore says it was “hard” going back to work on ‘Love Island’ while suffering from mastitis.
The 36-year-old TV presenter welcomed daughter Stevie into the world 12 months ago, and the star has opened up about how she was dealing with mastitis – an inflammation of breast tissue, which is most common in breastfeeding women – while fronting the ITV2 dating show last summer.
She said: “I remember getting mastitis. We were doing the first show of the coupling up. I had mastitis, so I had a fever.
“I had great big hard boobs, one bigger than the other. In one way though, it kind of took away the pressure, there was other things I was worrying about rather than the telly side. But yeah, it was hard. It was work and it was full on because you’re balancing everything.
“I’m so thankful for my mother for being there every step of the way so I could breastfeed full time, but also do the show.
“It was hard because I didn’t want any part of my life to, to miss out or not get the full time and effort from me.
“So it’s not that you can do it all, but I needed to work to provide for my family but also to have a bit of me as well.”
However, Laura – who is married to ‘Love Island’ narrator Iain Stirling – insists her return to work took “a lot of planning”, and wasn’t as “easy” as some people might think.
Speaking on Angela Scanlon’s ‘Thanks A Million’ podcast, she added: “But I think we need to be careful how we judge because, you know, from the outside everyone’s like, ‘Oh yeah, just straight back to work. It’s so easy for you.’
“It wasn’t, it was hard. It was really, really hard. It took a lot of planning.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Frankie Dettori has been inducted into flat racing’s Hall of Fame.
The 51-year-old jockey has been inundated with messages of congratulations from the likes of former footballer and ex-‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star Ian Wright, ITV Racing presenter Ed Chamberlin, and retired footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones, following his induction into the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame.
Vinnie said: “Congratulations Frankie, son. I’ve just heard that they’ve put you in the horseracing Hall of Fame.
“If you weren’t in it, it wouldn’t be a Hall of Fame. It’s a good job them boots were tight when I hung you over the balcony at Epsom because if they’d come off, you wouldn’t be getting in the Hall of Fame!
“I’m so proud of you, so pleased for you and your family, unbelievable, well done son.”
Ed said: “Frankie, so many congratulations on becoming the first current jockey to be inducted into the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame.
“What you’ve done for this sport, both in this country and globally cannot be over-emphasised.
“You’ve transcended this sport and done so much good. Hence this honour is so richly deserved. Massive congratulations.”
Former Arsenal striker Ian admitted it was “very well deserved” that former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star Frankie, who also supports the Premier League side, has been recognised with the honour.
He said: “Frankie Dettori, many congratulations on being inducted into the Hall of Fame – very, very well deserved.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am for you. You’re a great character, a great rider, and you’re a Gooner, what can I say.”
Launched in 2021, the Hall of Fame sets out to immortalise the modern greats of the sport, both human and equine, from 1970 onwards.
Dettori enters the Hall of Fame alongside legendary horse Dancing Brave, the first to be inducted in 2022, both having been chosen by an independent panel of industry experts in recognition of their outstanding achievements within the sport.
Her Majesty The Queen was the last to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, within the Special Contributor category, in October last year.
Both new inductions will be officially recognised through a special presentation moment at Newmarket Racecourse on Saturday 30th April, ahead of the first British Classic of the year, the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, which also marks the start of the QIPCO British Champions Series.

OHMYGOSSIP — Johannes Radebe is ready to find love.
The 34-year-old dancer – who last year finished runner up on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ alongside ‘Bake Off’ star John Whaite – admitted he has had “no time” to find a significant other because he has been so busy dedicating his life to dancing, and he has been “very “lonely”.
He said: “I honestly don’t know when I was last in a relationship. It’s been a while, a few years. I’ve been too busy. I’ve dedicated my life to dancing. So there’s been no time for a relationship. I live on my own and I’ve been very lonely the last couple of years. I’ve been working and I haven’t had time to socialise”
However, the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional – who has also danced with former ‘Coronation Street’ star Catherine Tyldesley and ‘Men Behaving Badly’ actress Caroline Quentin since joining the UK version of the series in 2018 – explained that he won’t use dating apps because it can be difficult since he is in the public eye.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I need to get out more! I need to go to a bar or a lovely restaurant and date. That would be nice. I wouldn’t do dating apps or websites. I’ve tried [dating apps], but they don’t work. And also, it’s hard as a public figure.
“I would like to meet someone at face value and get to know them. I went out to clubs with the other dancers when we were on the ‘Strictly’ tour. That was nice, but I don’t want to meet someone in a club!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anton Du Beke “hasn’t been told” if he will return as a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 55-year-old TV star – who started as a professional dancer on the BBC Saturday night favourite in 2004 – replaced Bruno Tonioli as a judge in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions and sat on the famous panel alongside Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas.
But he is unsure whether that will be the case again this year.
He said: “I’m hoping to get a call to say, ‘Look, here you go, come back judging please’. But we’ll wait and see. I’d like to think I’d be on the show in one way or another.”
Anton – who during his time on the show has danced with former MP Ann Widdecombe and ‘Loose Women’ star Ruth Langsford, but has never won the Glitterball Trophy – went on to explain that it would be a bit “dramatic” if the show just got rid of him altogether after almost two decades of being involved in the programme.
He said: “I wouldn’t like to think they’d just get rid of me altogether. That would be a bit dramatic to go from dancer to judge to off the show. The truth is I haven’t been told.”
The pro dancer – who has five-year-old twins George and Henrietta with his wife Hannah – added that he “loves” the show and would be keen to stick his ballroom shoes back on if required.
Asked if he would be open to returning as a dancer, he told Sussex Life magazine: “Yes. I love the show. I’ve been doing it since the beginning and I’m very proud of that. I do it because I love it. [Even though I haven’t won the show] I console myself that they weren’t judging me. They were judging my partner.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook believes she would’ve “ended up dead” if her drug habit hadn’t been “exposed”.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress – who is to undergo face reconstruction surgery after her bones began to “rot away” due to her osteoporosis and previous cocaine abuse – has admitted the media “saved” her.
Quizzed on whether her drug habits began when she became famous, she told GB News: “They were there, but they weren’t as heightened.
“I didn’t have as much money as I did when I was working on a big show.
“I already had issues, a lot of preconceived issues as well but really the media saved me if anything more than once.
“By putting me all over the papers, by exposing me in a sense because I had to do something with my life, otherwise I would’ve ended up dead.
“For everyone down there’s an up, as they say. For me, just being exposed by everything, you’ve got to look at the positives of it.”
Danniella recently expressed her concerns that she might die during her face reconstruction surgery.
The 48-year-old star – who will have five surgeries at Aintree Hospital in Liverpool – said: “When I was younger I used to love plastic surgery. I had my boobs done six times and thought I was invincible. But now every time I go under anaesthetic I’m praying ‘please let me wake up’.
“When you get older you see the risks for what they are. I know I’m in good hands so I want to be in the best shape I can be before I go in.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Edwards has told how the second coronavirus lockdown “absolutely destroyed” him.
The 51-year-old actor – who has played Kurt Benson in Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ – had to resort to borrowing money from pals as he wasn’t able to earn cash due to the entertainment industry shutting down as a result of the pandemic.
He said: “I didn’t mind the first one too much but the second absolutely destroyed me. I had to borrow money, there was nothing else I could do. All that I’m earning now is making up for that time. But I’m lucky that I’ve got work so I will be back on track this summer.”
The father of two – who shares daughter Scarlett, four, and 13-month-old son Theodore, with his wife Lydia Metz – welcomed their second child during lockdown in March last year.
Despite the good news, the former ‘X Factor Celebrity’ star has admitted he was unable to remain positive as he had a lot going on, including suffering from terrible pain due to a slipped disc.
He said: “We had it all going on. My wife was pregnant, my son was born in lockdown and I had terrible back pain. At one point I was in so much agony, I could barely walk. It’s due to a slipped disc from an accident and it just keeps coming back. I’m in constant pain every day, which is horrible.”
Jeremy first appeared in ‘Hollyoaks’ from 1995 to 1999 and he made a comeback on the show 21 years later, which he now says was “a mistake”, due to the COVID pandemic impacting his return.
He added to the Metro newspaper: “I was supposed to be there for six months to a year, but COVID impacted that massively. They brought me in, which I thought was a mistake because it wasn’t what I thought it should have been. There was so many restrictions with filming that I couldn’t go near anyone and I only had one storyline.
“I was in and out in less than three months with the promise that they’d bring me back properly when things calmed down but I haven’t heard anything.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Hill has created 12 oil paintings of Sir Cliff Richard.
The 57-year-old comedian is a “big fan” of painting, and revealed he has now done enough depictions of the ‘Living Doll’ hitmaker, 81, to fill up a calendar.
He said: “I’m a big fan of painting – not painting and decorating. I recently completed 12 oil paintings of Cliff Richard. It was from a photograph in the paper. I thought I’d do 12 and then, unconsciously, 12 is the number in a calendar, so I might bring out an alternative Cliff Richard Christmas calendar.”
The former ‘TV Burp’ star went on to describe the oil paintings as “quite silly” and teased that they might end up on his Instagram page.
Speaking on the ‘My Time Capsule’ podcast, he added: “They’re quite silly and funny. In one of them, he’s had a bad reaction to a crab stick and his face is all swollen. In another, his face and body are made from bricks. They might be on my Instagram!”
Harry – who worked as a doctor before finding fame in stand-up comedy and on television – explained that he was “always good” at art during his schooldays and these days has even managed to sell the occasional piece.
He added: “I was always good at art at school and found it easy. It’s a funny thing I ended up doing science and dropped the art. I get a lot out of it. It’s a hobby – I’m not trying to sell them or exhibit them, although I have occasionally.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Malin Andersson “can see herself” getting back together with her ex Jared.
The 29-year-old reality star – who first found fame on ‘Love Island’ in 2016 – split from boyfriend Jared just weeks after giving birth to their daughter Xaya in February, and she has explained how the pregnancy put a lot of “pressure” on their relationship.
She said: “It was an amicable split [but] there was a lot of pressure involved. Plus, he’s only ever really known me as hormonal Malin because I’d been pregnant pretty much ever since we’d first gotten together! I was relying on him so much that I feel like he lost himself a bit. It was best for both of us to take some months apart, so that’s what we did.”
However, the former make-up artist – who dated fellow islander Terry Walsh during her time on the ITV2 show – added that she and Jared are now focusing on “co-parenting” their daughter and she can “see herself” getting back together with him at some point.
She told OK! magazine: “We’re now co-parenting Xaya 50/50 and getting on a lot better having our situation like this at the moment – it saved us, in a weird way.
“But I can definitely see us getting back together at some point in the future when all the baby chaos has finally calmed.”
Prior to their romance, the pair had been friends for five years and went public with their relationship in July 2021, just two months before announcing they were expecting a child together.
