OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Derry Girls’ will return for an extended special following the season three finale.
The Channel 4 sitcom will return to Derry for one last time for a 45-minute episode titled ‘The Agreement’. It will be set one year in the future as the gang prepare to leave school amid the backdrop of the Good Friday Agreement vote.
The historic agreement also clashes with the joint 18th birthday party for Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) and Orla (Louisa Harland) as it threatens to be overshadowed by the vote.
The episode will air in the same week as the final episode of season three of the comedy, which will be broadcast by Channel 4 on May 17.
‘Derry Girls’ creator Lisa McGee said: “Like all the very best 90s bands, I couldn’t resist ending our farewell tour with an encore to our loyal fans. I’m delighted to say we’ll be returning for one extended special – airing in the same week as our final episode.
“The special deals with the historic and momentous Good Friday Agreement vote, which coincides with the gang’s coming of age, they enter adulthood as Northern Ireland embarks on a new future.”
She added: “I’m so proud of this show and of our incredible cast and crew and everything we’ve achieved over the last five years. What a journey it’s been. I’m so grateful Channel 4 gave me the space to end the stories of these characters that mean so much to me with this special. I really hope fans love it as much as I do.
“Derry people aren’t great at saying goodbye so I will instead use one of our native expressions ‘That’s us away now’, Love Lisa McGee, always a Derry Girl.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall is excited about the prospect of a ‘Big Brother’ return.
It was recently reported that ITV2 were in talks to revive the reality show next year and Davina – who presented the show during its original run on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 – is pleased with the developments.
The 54-year-old TV star told the Daily Star newspaper: “(The prospect of) ‘Big Brother’ returning is very exciting.
“I mean, I really, really, hope it comes back, and I think if it’s coming back to ITV2 then that is a really good home for it.”
Davina also hopes the show – which hasn’t aired since being axed by Channel 5 in 2018 – changes its approach to finding housemates if it is to return to screens.
She said: “I’d just be interested to see how they do the casting and change it up at all.
“It would be good to kind of, just get really interesting people in the house and maybe try a different mix. So yeah, very exciting.”
The Sun reported earlier this month that ITV2 were planning to revive the show in autumn 2023.
A source said: “ITV is the home of big appointment telly. They know better than anyone how to put on big live events.
“They think putting it on ITV2 will open it up to a new audience and legion of younger fans.
“They are really keen on getting the deal done on ‘Big Brother’, and hope to have something firm to announce soon.
“The talks are still at an early, and delicate, stage and the next few weeks will be key.
“It needs the full treatment and they’re confident they are the ones who can return it to its legendary former glory.
“It has millions of fans and is one of the most iconic TV shows of its generation.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Tarrant believes ‘Tiswas’ wouldn’t be made now.
The 75-year-old TV star rose to fame presenting the Saturday morning children’s show and thinks that the way the audience were treated means it would be frowned upon in the modern day.
Chris told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “‘Tiswas’ was live and very chaotic. I remember rolling about in custard with Sheena Easton, Annie Lennox and Chrissie Hynde and thinking, ‘I’m getting paid for this – what a great gig.’
“We pelted people in a cage with water, there were smoke bombs going off, kids slipping everywhere. There’s no way we’d be able to do that now.
“But back then we had a blank sheet. I used to say, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing but I hate Blue Peter’. It was so twee.”
Tarrant later hosted the quiz show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ and explained that he nearly turned down the programme after his friend, the late comic Kenny Everett, had also done so.
He explained: “I think it would have been very funny with Kenny – and a very different show. I said, ‘I’ll do a pilot, but I’m really too busy to do the actual show if it takes off’. I could’ve turned down Millionaire, which would have been really stupid. Like the man who turned down The Beatles.”
Meanwhile, Chris revealed in his new memoir ‘It’s Not a Proper Job’ how she spent the first decade of his career in TV drunk.
He wrote: “On the day I began, I met a lovely guy called John Swallow. His idea of showing me the ropes was to go to The Crown pub.
“It was just after half 10 and my new boss was pouring pints down my neck.
“This became the normal pattern for most of the next 10 years. We would take what we always referred to as the ‘livener’, then start our day.
“We would almost certainly have a couple more at lunchtime and then there was the Green Room – open during transmission.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Theroux has become an unlikely TikTok sensation.
The 51-year-old documentary maker wrote and performed a rap on his ‘Weird Weekends’ series during the 1990s and has now been remixed by DJ duo Duke and Jones.
The rap, called ‘Wiggle Wiggle’, has now gone viral on the social media platform and has soundtracked over 435,000 vides on the app, with Ant and Dec among the stars who have danced to it online.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Louis hasn’t been involved in the rap becoming this massive viral sensation on TikTok but he has found it very amusing.
“People have been lapping up the remix, which is hilarious because he raps his verse so politely.
“But it has clever and fun lyrics and people just keep talking about how they can’t get it out of their heads.”
Meanwhile, Louis is set to interview the rapper Stormzy for his new TV series.
The star will chat to the British musician both on tour and at home in an in-depth encounter as part of his new six-episode BBC Two and BBC iPlayer show, which currently has the working title ‘The Louis Theroux Interviews’.
Louis said: “I’m so excited to be embarking on this new series – something very different to the kind of TV I normally make.
“This will be a chance to meet and spend time with people I admire, getting to know them, having long form and revealing conversations, with honesty, emotion, and humour.
“To be kicking off with the genius that is Stormzy is proper pinch-me stuff. I can’t wait to get going.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan are returning to ‘Neighbours.’
The music stars shot to fame in the late 1980s playing lovebirds Scott Robison and Charlene Mitchell in the Aussie soap opera before departing their roles to embark on pop careers but the pair have reportedly already filmed return scenes to give the show a “fairy tale ending” after it was axed earlier this year, according to the Herald Sun.
The pair were famously married on the show back in 1988 and following the wedding, Kylie, now 53, exited the show and went on to enjoy decades of chart success with hits such as ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’, and ‘All the Lovers’ and teamed up with her on-screen husband and real-life ex-boyfriend for the release of 1989 smash duet ‘Especially for You’.
The shoot is said to have taken place at Pin Oak Court in Vermont South and while no other details have been revealed about their alleged return, bosses are hoping to lure other famous alumni back to the show before the final episode airs.
The soap – which began in 1985 and has also launched the careers of other superstars such as Holly Valance, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce – faced the chop back in March when UK broadcaster Channel 5 decided not to renew their broadcasting deal and despite campaigns to save the show, it was eventually announced that it would come to an end later this year after almost 9000 episodes.
At the time, A spokesperson said: “It is with sadness that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast, we are confirming that ‘Neighbours’ will cease production in the summer. Following the loss of a key broadcast partner in the UK, and despite a search for alternative funding, we currently have no option but to rest the show.
‘Real Groove’ hitmaker Kylie was among the first to pay tribute to the soap, noting that she will be “be forever grateful” to the show for launching her career.
She tweeted: “I’ll be forever grateful for the experience the friends I made on @neighbours. We had no idea how big the show would become and how passionately viewers would take it to heart. Pure love! I can still hear Madge calling… CHARLENE!!!!”(sic)
The final episode of ‘Neighbours’ will be broadcast on 1st August 2022.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Roache believes ageing “is a belief system”.
The 90-year-old soap legend – who has played ‘Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow for over 60 years – claimed doctors have assessed him as having the body of a man 25 years younger, and credited his belief in “youthing” for retaining great health and a younger-looking appearance.
He is quoted by the Daily Star Sunday newspaper as saying: “The first thing we need to do is to accept that ageing is a belief system and we do not have to accept it.
“Decline is not inevitable. I continue to drive myself to work, for example, and everywhere else.
“ITV has very kindly offered to send a car to pick me up, and I may accept sometime, but for now I am very happy to drive myself.
“I had a health check not long ago that gave me the body age of 65.
“I will be happy when I see that age going down. Then I will know I really am ‘youthing’.
“I am looking forward to being a centenarian in perfect health.”
The veteran actor was baffled that “quite a big deal” was made out of him celebrating his 90th birthday recently.
He said: “I am obviously very pleased about this, but the celebration of longevity is a clear indication that the ageing process is generally seen as a decline.
“The truth, as I see it, is very different. The human body was created as a vehicle for the soul in the physical world.
“It is there for the soul’s use for as long as it is required, with the cells rejuvenating to keep it in prime condition.”
Meanwhile, Bill recently admitted he used to “really fancy” Queen Elizabeth.
He said: “I’ve met the queen eight times. I first met her when I was 21 and I was in the Army and we had the day with her which was very nice.
“I really fancied her! I don’t know if that’s heresy but she was very attractive.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liberty Poole and Kaz Kamwi were left “shaken up” after being threatened at knifepoint.
The ‘Love Island’ stars are currently in Los Angeles and were stunned when a 40-year-old woman came at them with a weapon as they got out of their car on Thursday (28.04.22), but fortunately two male passers-by jumped to their defense and apprehended the stranger.
A source told The Sun on Sunday’s Bizarre column: “Liberty and Kaz had been just heading to a party and got out of their car in the wrong part of the neighbourhood.
“Out of the blue, this woman appeared with a knife and threatened them.
“Liberty and Kaz were obviously shocked and terrified — especially because guns are legal in the US.
“But fortunately for them, two men who had been walking past came to their rescue and called the police.
“The girls have been left shaken up by the incident and are just surprised that it happened to them.
“But they’re grateful that the two men were in the right place at the right time, to help them.”
The pair flew to California to attend the Coachella music festival and are determined to put the scary incident behind them to enjoy the rest of their vacation.
The insider added: “They’re now determined to put the scary incident behind them for the rest of their once-in-a-lifetime trip.”
A spokesperson for both stars declined to comment.
Earlier this year, Liberty hit out at people who judge her on her looks after facing criticism following her debut performance on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
She said: “I think because I’ve come from ‘Love Island’ I have comments on my appearance and what I look like quite a lot.
“I’d rather just stay away from that and help people to get to know me as a person, what I have to offer as a person and my personality.
“That’s way much more important than what anyone looks like. I can’t speak for what other people are thinking when they look at the show, but all I know is I’m having the time of my life and I’m not going to let people’s opinions effect that.
“If I’ve been born with these boobs, it’s not my fault. You know what I mean?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Banjo doesn’t know if he’ll be back on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The Diversity choreographer looks forward to being on the judging panel of the celebrity skating contest every January and although he knows it’ll be back next year, producers have yet to confirm if he’ll be offered an extension to his contract.
He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “’Dancing on Ice’ has become part of my calendar and a big part of my career and what I love to do.
“The producers have told me that the show will be returning for another series. But they haven’t given me the green light yet.
“I have my fingers crossed that they will ask me back.”
The 33-year-old star – who joined the show in 2018 – admitted his love of the ice has taken him by surprise.
He added: “I never thought I’d be involved or even really care about ice dancing. But I started to care about the competition and the contestants.”
Meanwhile, Ashley recently admitted he still gets a “stream” of abuse of the ‘Black Lives Matter’-inspired routine Diversity performed on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in September 2020.
He said: “It happens all the time.
“I did this slot on ‘GMB’ [last week] to talk about how life-changing it was winning a BAFTA for the routine and I went on Twitter afterwards, and it was just like a stream of comments. The negative ones always cut through.”
But the abuse won’t stop the collective from performing the routine on their current ‘Connected’ tour, though the ‘Dancing On Ice’ judge admitted he always feels nervous about how audiences will react.
He said: “Every night, I go down and take that knee and there’s a little part of me that just kind of goes, ‘I wonder what’s gonna happen’. You just don’t know.
“We never got the opportunity to perform that routine in front of a crowd at the time because of Covid.
“We’ve never felt what it feels like. You can only guess what the audience may react to but you don’t know. To see an audience react to it is a completely different feeling.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades tried to take his own life when his charity lost funding and his marriage broke down.
The ‘Repair Shop’ star and his then-wife Jade ran an organisation called Out of the Dark – which trained disadvantaged young people in furniture restoration – but it lost its backers seven years ago, putting strain on their marriage, and leaving the 52-year-old DIY expert with no idea who to turn to.
He recalled: “When you’re running a charity that helps and supports people, the worst thing you can do – I thought at the time – is ask those people for help. It’s almost like, ‘hold on, if I have to help you, how are you going to help me?’ so I decided that I couldn’t ask anybody for help.
“And there was all this pressure on me, the relationship and business had folded and I was like, right, what do you do? Get in the car, and just drive.”
Jay drove up the M40, determined to take his own life by crashing into a bridge.
He recalled to the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I didn’t see myself in tomorrow. I didn’t have anything to continue for.”
Crash barriers around the bridge supports stopped Jay driving into them so he ended up driving to a retail park, where he slept in his car for a week in a dae which felt “like 10 times’ worth of jet lag”. When he went to check into a hotel, his credit card triggered an alert to those who were looking for him and a team of police and mental health nurses arrived to assess him, but the presenter instead went to stay with a friend.
Shortly afterwards, Jay’s TV career began with ‘Money For Nothing’ but he thinks it is ‘The Repair Shop’ that has ultimately helped to “fix” him.
Asked if there’s anything he’d take along to be fixed on ‘The Repair Shop’, he said: “No, they’ve done it already, and we’re still working on it – me. They’re still working on me. I’m the one that needs to be fixed. And I think all of us at The Repair Shop – we need to be fixed, but I’m the one that’s most vocal about it.”
