Kiefer Sutherland joined The Contractor to work with Chris Pine

OHMYGOSSIP — Kiefer Sutherland signed up for ‘The Contractor’ because he wanted to work with Chris Pine.
The 55-year-old actor stars in the new action movie and explained that the opportunity to collaborate with the ‘Star Trek’ actor and Ben Foster on the movie was a big part of the appeal.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Kiefer said: “I loved the script. And I was grateful that I did because I really wanted to work with Chris Pine and Ben Foster. Their work in ‘Hell Or High Water’ was extraordinary and I just think they have an extraordinary chemistry.
“I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them, just to tell them I think they’re both really good.”
The ’24’ star portrays private contractor Rusty Jennings in the movie and explained that he was able to show off his tattoos in the role as a military veteran.
Kiefer said: “They’re mine. A couple of them really made sense. I have a Mickey Mouse… I had a friend who was raised in East Germany and he had got this tattoo but Mickey was holding a Kalashnikov. I was born in England so I got Mickey Mouse holding a Tommy gun.
“And I found it uniquely appropriate for this film and so I tried to get them to highlight it. I don’t know if they did but, yeah, the tattoos are mine.”
‘The Contractor’ is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Kiefer believes that streaming is the future for the film industry.
He said: “It’s all an evolution and there’s nothing you can do about it. I definitely do not want to be the Muppet on the balcony going, ‘Oh, it was so much better in the old days!’ I don’t want to be that guy, though sometimes I really feel like that guy.
“But the truth is, it’s all in evolution. And what is really exciting for actors is that content is king, right? So they can’t make enough film and television to supply the demand with the streaming services.
“So it is exciting in the sense that a lot of actors will work and that there are more opportunities.”

Downton Abbey: A New Era cast ‘up their game’ with Dame Maggie Smith

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maggie Smith makes the ‘Downton Abbey’ cast “up their game”.
The big screen legend – who resprises her role as Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham in new movie ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ – has forged in incredible legacy in cinema, and her co-stars have found themselves wanting to impress her on set.
Speaking to HeyUGuys.com, Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary Talbot) said: “You do up your game with her. She’s got this presence that you feel like you’ve really got to be on your best behaviour and at your best.”
Kevin Doyle – who has played footman Joseph Molesley since the period drama first launched as an ITV series in 2010 – admitted he “slowly” felt more comfortable acting opposite Maggie.
He explained: “It changed over the years, didn’t it? I remember being terrified to start with. But slowly over the years, she puts out the feeling that maybe she likes you a little bit.”
However, Hugh Dancy – who joins the cast for the new movie as Jack Barber – joked he didn’t get to work with her enough to develop that rapport, and he’s worried he “embarrassed” himself.
He quipped: “I don’t think I had time to get to that stage. A couple of scenes, and mostly it was me thinking, ‘God I was bad in that bit. I’ve really embarrassed myself in front of Dame Maggie.’ ”
Meanwhile, Robert-James Collier jokingly played down her talents on screen, noting her accomplishments and saying he doesn’t understand the “fuss”.
He teased: “I don’t rate her. I do not rate her as an actress. Don’t know what the fuss is. Never rated her. What’s she won? A couple of Oscars, that’s it!”

Jack Harlow talks White Men Can’t Jump audition process

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Harlow tried to be “egoless” during his auditions for ‘White Men Can’t Jump’.
The 24-year-old rapper is taking on the role previously played by Woody Harrelson in the 1992 original and insisted that he had to work hard to be cast in the movie.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: “You know, I did the work to get it. I put the time in with the script. I sat with it. I considered things. I tried to be egoless during the audition, take notes, do what I had to do. I just want to kill it. I just want to be good and I want to do everything I can to make it good.”
And while his casting caused a buzz, Jack insisted his casting was not just a publicity stunt.
He said: “Because it’s either just going to be [that] there was an announcement you were in a movie and nothing else, or you get that and it’s like, ‘Wow, and you brought it. You brought it.’ I’m starting to look at it how I look at the music. It’s my first one, so I care a lot about it.”
Sinqua Walls, Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor and Laura Harrier are also starring in the movie, which is being directed by Calmatic from a script by Kenya Barris and Doug Hall.
Meanwhile, Jack previously admitted he never watched the original movie until he was cast in the reboot.
He told Vogue: “Can I be honest. I was obviously familiar with it, it’s an iconic title and I’ve seen the movie poster, but I didn’t watch it until I got offered the role. I see why it’s a classic.”

Simon Cowell’s BGT change

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell says he no longer looks for music acts on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 62-year-old star previously ran Syco Music but now focuses primarily on his TV projects and Simon admitted the move from running a label has changed how he judges the acts on ‘BGT’.
When asked if he judges singers differently now, Simon told The Sun: “I suppose so. I think in the same way as you buy an album or a track, you like what you like.
“What’s interesting now is there are so many outlets for singers, what with social media platforms, however, weirdly there aren’t a lot of new artists breaking out at the moment.
“I think the reason is everyone’s doing the same thing. So I try and encourage people to do something different.
“Like on ‘BGT’ when someone comes on and sings a song I’ve heard a million times before, I try and advise them not to do what everyone else is doing.
“‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is an amazing platform for singers, you get it right, choose the right song and boy it can change your life overnight.
“We saw that with Susan Boyle and people like Calum Scott.”
It was revealed earlier this year that Simon was shutting down his record label to focus on his family.
A source told the Mirror at the time: “People are understandably sad – but totally get how things change. And everyone’s been thinking back of all the happy memories they’ve had and of all the huge success and great times the business has enjoyed over the years.
“Running Simon’s business internationally – especially during the pandemic – has become exhausting and understandably Simon now wants to focus on other things, and particularly his family.”

Rachel McAdams heaps praise on Benedict Cumberbatch: ‘He does it all for you’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel McAdams has hailed Benedict Cumberbatch as “one of the greatest actors” to work with on screen.
The 43-year-old actress – who first played Christine Palmer opposite Cumberbatch in Scott Derrickson’s 2016 movie ‘Doctor Strange’ – is thrilled to be reprising her role is Sam Raimi’s sequel ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.
She told Collider: “I was so happy to be back with her and with Benedict, he’s one of the greatest actors to get to work opposite. You don’t have to work at all. He just does it all for you, you just stand there and listen. It’s great. I was so happy to be back to be part of it.”
McAdams also heaped praise on filmmaker Raimi, and compared his personality to his fellow horror icon and late ‘Scream’ director Wes Craven. particularly with the pair of them being “so nice” despite their gory big screen projects.
She said: “I love Sam so much. He’s just such a pro, but he’s so humble and so collaborative. He’s the nicest man. It’s always those ones that do the horror films that are so nice. It’s so strange.
“Like Wes Craven, same thing. Nice, he’s most soft spoken person. And then they just exercise it all on the screen, which is the best place to do it. So, I loved working with Sam and I love this character.”
Meanwhile, the actress refused to divulge any details about the new movie as she referenced Marvel’s habit of keeping things tight lipped when it comes to their blockbuster films.
Asked for any teasers, she replied: “I don’t think I’m legally allowed to do that.”
She quipped: “I am in it. I definitely – and I have more than one scene.”

Gemma Chan and Harry Shum Jr for Crazy Rich Asians spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Chan and Harry Shum Jr are set to star in a ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ spin-off.
The pair will reprise their roles from the original, where they played Astrid Leong-Teo and Charlie Wu, and the spin-off will be based on the second book in Kevin Kwan’s series, ‘China Rich Girlfriend’.
Deadline reports that Jason Kim is writing the script.
In the books, Astrid is the cousin of main character of Nick Young (Henry Golding) and Charlie is her first love.
They were previously engaged but Astrid’s parents forced them to break up as they did not approve.
In the original movie, viewers saw Astrid split from her husband after discovering he had been cheating on her. While, Charlie helps her investigate her husband Michael’s infidelity in the books, Shum Jr’s part in the movie was reduced to a mid-credits scene.
Director Jon M. Chu previously explained: “What we put in the movie was great — they actually dance together — and it was so awesome, and Harry’s so charming and so lovable. But the problem was, it made Astrid feel like she was leaving Michael for Charlie, and we didn’t have enough room to expand on the idea. We just had to stay focused. Ultimately it’s about her independence, so that scene was in there all the way until the very end. When we took it out, Astrid’s journey became stronger. It was about her, not about her finding love.”
In addition to the spin-off, a sequel to the first movie is also in development, with Chu returning to direct.

Rylan Clark’s Eurovision drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark has angered Eurovision bosses by taking the UK act out for a wild night.
The 33-year-old presenter will co-host the BBC’s coverage of this year’s semi-final of the song contest but admitted he has gotten in trouble before for encouraging the UK’s acts to party before the contest.
Speaking about this year’s UK’s hopeful Sam Ryder, Rylan told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It is tradition that I always take the British act out, normally on the Wednesday or the Thursday, and then the head of delegation always has a go at me because I take them out.
“But I will make sure Sam is all right by Saturday night.”
Last year’s UK entrant James Newman scored zero points but Rylan has high hopes for Sam.
He said: “I know full well we will be on the left-hand side of the leaderboard this year.
“How high up, I don’t know, but I’ve every faith in Sam.”
Rylan will be co-hosting with Scott Mills and he said: “Me and Scott are going to be doing the semis, which I cannot wait for. Who doesn’t love a semi?
“We will make it so good because we’ve not been there in person in two years. We’ve got a lot of making up to do since Tel Aviv (in 2019).
“I cannot wait to have a fantastic time and see what all of the countries have to offer.”

Peter Kay planning stand-up return?

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay could be planning a new stand-up tour.
Peter’s friend Jason Manford, 40, revealed that the comedian – who stepped back from the public eye in 2017 due to “unforeseen family circumstances” – could be making a sensational return to the stage.
Speaking on Dublin radio station FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock show, Jason said: “He’s great, Pete. We’ve known each other a long time, it must be 25 years. It’s been a hell of a ride.
“He’s just an absolute legend isn’t he? What a treasure. Hopefully back himself soon, doing stand-up, so keep your eye out for his tour. Not that he needs you to buy a ticket as much as I do.”
Peter, 48, axed his huge ‘Have Gags, Will Travel’ UK tour in 2017, explaining in a statement: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
“This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.
“My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.
“I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media.
“I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry.”
Also in 2020, he was forced to postpone his much-anticipated Dance For Life comeback events due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Announcing the news, he said: “Obviously this is disappointing news but well and truly justified given the circumstances.
“We’ll get through this, together and then we’ll all have a great big dance for life. Stay safe and look after yourselves and the people around you.”

Vernon Kay to front Loose Men

OHMYGOSSIP — Vernon Kay will anchor a one-off episode of ‘Loose Men’ this week.
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, ‘Loose Women’ will be rebranding for the day on Thursday (12.05.22), with the 48-year-old presenter taking the lead on a panel that will include previous guest presenters Mike Tindall and Roman Kemp, and, for the first time, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Johannes Radebe.
The programme will support ‘Loose Women’s Stand By Your Men campaign and will highlight the importance of men speaking out about their mental health.
The panel will also debate issues including body image, the male biological clock, loneliness, and whether society still puts too much pressure on men to be providers.
Vernon said: “I’m really excited to be back for another ‘Loose Men’ special.
“Men’s mental health is so important to me. I learnt things from the panel members last time that I’d never known before.
“The reaction we all had last time was also fantastic and highlighted how there’s a real need for more discussion around these topics which we look forward to bringing viewers.”
Roman is “proud” to be back on ‘Loose Men’, which first aired in 2020.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to the Loose Men panel this year and proud to be amongst this brilliant line up of men.
“To help shine a light on the struggles men face with mental health, open up the conversation and encourage men to talk is really important to me.
“A simple question to a mate can go a long way. It was great to be part of the panel in 2020 for the first ever Loose Men – the response we received from viewers was amazing.”

Robbie Williams to play himself in biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams will play himself in his biopic.
The ‘Let Me Entertain You’ hitmaker has been working with director Michael Gracey on upcoming film ‘Better Man’ and though he admitted he still doesn’t know who will portray his younger self in the movie, he confirmed they won’t need to find an actor to portray him in the present day.
Speaking to fans at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, he said: “The thing is about films is that it is a wonder anything gets made.
“Everything gets held up in a bottleneck. It is always, ‘This person says no and this person says yes and this person is offended and this person is not offended enough’. It is agents and lawyers.
“I am 97 per cent sure it will happen. I don’t know who will play me when I am younger but I know who will play me when I am older.
“You are looking at him.”
The 48-year-old star has an idea of who he’d like to portray him in his younger years, but refused to say who.
The former Take That singer added: “If I had my way, who would play me in the Nineties?
“I daren’t say, just in case the person I say is not the person (who gets the part).”
It was previously claimed Robbie and Michael hadn’t been able to cast anyone when they held auditions for the role.
A source said: “Michael and Robbie held top-secret auditions to find a star to play the young Robbie recently.
“They didn’t meet anyone they were confident could pull it off.
“Robbie is stunned at how difficult the project has been to get made. And now he’s starting to worry it’s never going to make it to the big screen and he’ll look foolish for hyping it up.
“The London-based studio, Rocket Science, is handling international sales on the project and is hoping for a big hit.
“Robbie has fans all over the world and his story is not short of drama. But if they can’t find a star charismatic enough to play him, the whole house of cards is going to come falling down and it’ll end up in development hell.”

Doctor Strange: Sam Raimi wanted to ‘titillate fans’ with cameos in wild sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Raimi wanted to “titillate the fans” with the cameos in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.
The ‘Evil Dead’ filmmaker is at the helm of the new Marvel blockbuster – which is the sequel to 2016’s ‘Doctor Strange’ – and he admitted he had a clear idea for the surprises in the film, but he looked beyond just amusing herself.
Asked if he made any decisions specifically to amuse himself, he laughed: “No, not really.
“This was all done to titillate the fans and surprise them, to make them gasp, to give them, not exactly what they expected, but something that they would love.”
His goal of giving the fans something to enjoy was matched by the studio, and he explained how Marvel’s involvement was largely focused on protecting the “integrity of their characters”.
He added: “So, the notes really come from a great place. It’s not about making more money for the studio.
“It’s about, ‘No, this is what Dr. Strange would say. No, this is what happened in the last Avengers movie and this is contrary to that. We have to be on the same page.’
“Their notes come from a really great fan place.”
Meanwhile, Raimi remained tight lipped about any deleted scenes, although he confirmed there are “at least two or three” that should be included and he noted his original cut of the film went much longer than its two hour, five minutes run time.
He said: “Well, the first cut was I actually don’t remember the length of it.
“It was probably like two hours and 40 minutes, and it slowly came down even though we did the reshoots.
“We took out material even though the reshoots went in. So, it slowly got down to about two hours and five minutes is the total.”

Vanessa Feltz wants Countdown job

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz would “love to” host ‘Countdown’.
The 60-year-old presenter has put herself forward to replace Anne Robinson following the news she is set to depart the quiz show after just a year, and amid speculation the former ‘Weakest Link’ host was difficult to work with and didn’t get on with maths whizz Rachel Riley, Vanessa insisted she wouldn’t cause any problems for producers.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper’s Watts the Goss column: “I don’t know why she has ended it but I would love to do it. So if they ask, I’m in.
“Tell them I am cheaper than Anne Robinson, I shall be polite, I shall be charming and I am already friendly with Rachel as we did ‘Strictly’ together.
“As far as I am concerned, she can be as loud as she likes and as vibrant as she likes. She can play rap music on the set as loud as she likes. I would not be nasty and snide.”
Vanessa fell out with Anne in 2006 when she appeared on a celebrity version of ‘The Weakest Link’ and claimed the host make “racist” comments about her now-fiance, Ben Ofoedu.
According to Vanessa, Anne said in comments that were never aired: “Vanessa Feltz, looking the way you do, how do you think you land all these big black boyfriends?”
Meanwhile, Anne, 77, insisted earlier this week she was not feuding with Rachel or Dictionary Corner’s lexicographer Susie Dent, though she acknowledged she didn’t spend a lot of time with them.
She said: “The way that it’s filmed is so tight that … we don’t have time to talk to each other.
“Between shows we have a ten-minute turn around to get changed. We can go for almost a whole run without doing more than waving to each other from the end of a corridor.
“I’m not saying I would go on holiday with Rachel Riley, but she is brilliant
“Absolutely honestly, I do admire her – she is really, really good at what she does, as is Susie Dent.
“Look, Rachel has just come back from having a baby and she is standing throughout and faultless, whereas I get to sit down.
“She is noisy, yes she and Susie both are – they are a formidable pair those two.”

Christine McGuinness has ADHD

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine McGuinness has been diagnosed with ADHD.
The 34-year-old model revealed a few months ago she had been diagnosed with autism and she’s now confirmed she also has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which can cause people to be restless and impulsive.
Christine is relieved to have been given her diagnoses as they help her to understand herself better.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “I’ve now been diagnosed with ADHD, autism and dyspraxia.
“Knowledge is key. If you know the situation, you’re able to deal with it. So getting a diagnosis has really opened up my life.
“It’s given me so much more opportunity to understand why I was the way I was.”
Meanwhile, Christine – whose three children with husband Paddy McGuinness, eight-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and six-year-old daughter Felicity are also autistic – admitted she has been having “meltdowns” about taking part in ‘The Games’ on ITV this week because it will be filmed live in front of a stadium audience.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Physically I feel fine. But I do get quite emotional ­sometimes and it all gets a bit too much, so I’ve struggled with that.
“I don’t really feel tired at the end of the day, I’m active anyway. It’s just emotionally I’m drained. More so as it’s getting nearer and nearer thinking about it being on telly and so many people watching.
“Having to do it with a stadium full of ­people for me is so overwhelming and it petrifies me and as we’re getting closer I’m having meltdowns – it’s hard.
“It’s sensory overload anxiety times 1,000. No one is feeling great about it being on telly and the place being full. For me it’s just an awful lot more and it takes over – I will panic.”
But Christine hopes to set an example to her kids by competing in various Olympic events alongside the likes of Kevin Clifton, Olivia Attwood, Chelcee Grimes, and Ryan Thomas on the show.
She said: “I want them to know they can do anything.
“I don’t want them to ever think autism can hold them back, I want them to believe they can do whatever they put their minds to.
“I need to try and lead by example and get on with it. It will be too much for them to come down with Paddy.
“I wouldn’t have walked in these rooms three years ago. I wouldn’t walk into a football stadium. I love Liverpool, but I’d never go and watch them. I’ve avoided situations. I was a recluse for eight years in my 20s.
“I did not go out and socialise and if I went to the shop I’d only go at one or two in the morning when it was quiet. Stuck to my own little bubble and life. I avoided weddings, birthdays and red carpets because I found it all too much. Had to turn up at my own!
“I didn’t understand that’s why I was like that, but when my children were diagnosed and going to therapy with them four times a week – I was like: ‘Oh my god, this is me’.
“My diagnosis has opened up my life and given me so much more opportunity to understand that’s why I was the way I was, and that I don’t need to be like that and I can go to the shop during the day.
“Knowledge is key, if you know what you’re dealing with you can deal with it. I am proud.”

James Gunn teases mystery cast member in Guardians of the Galaxy 3

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn has teased a mystery star will appear in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
The 55-year-old director confirmed on Friday (06.05.22) night that filming for the final installment of the series has wrapped as he explained Zoe Saldana was missing from his behind-the-scenes photo because the only one he has with her in also included her mystery co-star.
Sharing a photo of himself laughing with Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista and his brother Sean Gunn, he wrote: “And that’s a picture wrap on the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
“I love this amazing cast crew their beautiful talent kind souls. I’m a lucky human to have them on the journey with me for nearly a decade.
“And yes Zoe was with us but the only picture I have with her has an unannounced actor with us!”
James previously admitted there had been a “lot of sadness” on the set of the film – which is due for release in May 2023 – because everyone was aware it was their last outing.
A Twitter user asked: “Mr Gunn, how are the vibes on set?”
In reply, James tweeted: “Honestly they’re great, I love this cast and crew, but there is also a lot of sadness and near-daily tears knowing this is the last Guardians movie for most of us. #gotgvol3.”
The filmmaker previously admitted it was “a little bit scary” to be ending the saga.
He said: “I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story… That’s always a little bit scary; I’m doing my best.”
The ‘Suicide Squad’ director also promised the flick with be “big” and “different” from what people might think it will be.
He said: “It’s big; it’s so, so big and dark, and different from what people might be expecting it to be.”

Ncuti Gatwa confirmed as the new star of Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa has been announced as the new star of ‘Doctor Who’.
The 29-year-old actor – who is best-known for starring in the Netflix series ‘Sex Education’ – will replace Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, and he’s “deeply honoured” to have been handed the opportunity.
Ncuti – who will become the first black actor to play the role full-time – said: “There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared.
“This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my utmost to do the same.”
Ncuti is particularly looking forward to working with Russell T Davies, who is returning as showrunner of ‘Doctor Who’ in 2023.
He explained: “Russell T Davies is almost as iconic as the Doctor himself and being able to work with him is a dream come true. His writing is dynamic, exciting, incredibly intelligent and fizzing with danger. An actor’s metaphorical playground.
“The entire team have been so welcoming and truly give their hearts to the show. And so as much as it’s daunting, I’m aware I’m joining a really supportive family.
“Unlike the Doctor, I may only have one heart but I am giving it all to this show.”
Russell, 59, has already been “dazzled” by Ncuti’s talent, and he’s relishing the opportunity to work with him.

Minder star Dennis Waterman dies aged 74

OHMYGOSSIP — Dennis Waterman has died at the age of 74.
The actor – who was best-known for starring in ‘The Sweeney’, ‘Minder’ and ‘New Tricks’ – passed away at his home in Spain, with his wife Pam by his side.
His family said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Dennis passed away very peacefully at his home in Spain.
“The family kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
Waterman’s acting career spanned six decades, and was notable for the range of roles he played.
The London-born star was caricatured in the hit comedy series ‘Little Britain’, and Matt Lucas – who co-created the show with David Walliams – has already paid tribute to Waterman on social media.
Matt wrote on Twitter: “I grew up watching Dennis Waterman’s iconic performances in The Sweeney and Minder. His guest appearance in our Little Britain Live show at Hammersmith Apollo – in which he hilariously duetted with David’s absurd impersonation of him – remains the absolute highlight of my career. (sic)”
Waterman starred in London’s West End and he also appeared in more than 20 films during the course of his career, including his most-recent role in the comedy ‘Never Too Late’ in 2020.
Waterman was the youngest of nine children, and he once explained how his family life influenced his acting career.
He shared: “Nobody had enough money to spoil me rotten, but I was six years younger than the last one, so I was the baby of the family. I’ve no idea if all that attention contributed to my decision to become an actor.
“Basically it was my oldest sister who got me into acting. She dragged me into amateur dramatics. We all had to do it. I started off doing Shakespeare – ‘A Winter’s Tale’ and ‘Love’s Labours Lost’ – when I was about eight.”
