OHMYGOSSIP — Joseph Fiennes is to play iceman Wim Hof in a new film.
The 51-year-old star has been cast as the eccentric endurance athlete in ‘The Iceman’, which begins filming in November.
Kevin Macdonald will direct the movie from a script written by Jeff Pope.
The Dutch athlete promotes the Wim Hof Method, a combination of exposure to the cold, yoga and meditation. Hof developed the techniques to help him deal with depression after his wife Olaya took her own life in 1995.
Hof holds the record for the furthest swim under ice and the fastest half-marathon run barefoot on ice and snow. He has recently been demonstrating his techniques on the BBC TV series ‘Freeze The Fear with Wim Hof’.
Macdonald is quoted by the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: “Wim is someone who has suffered a terrible trauma and finds an entirely new way to deal with the depression that comes with that experience.
“Jeff Pope has written a brilliant script – full of humour, humanity and emotions. We are introduced to the Dutch suburbs, crazy stunts, a broken family, a love affair and an epiphany. This is a film about resilience, second chances and the amazing ability of the body and mind to heal.”
Joseph has played the villain Fred Waterford in the TV series ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and admitted that he was surprised to be recognised for his work on the show when out and about in public.
Speaking last year, he said: “Strangely enough it happens even when I’m wearing a mask and sunglasses which is very odd. Sometimes you hear someone mumble, ‘Blessed be the fruit”, and you think how the hell did they work that out?
“But I guess I must emanate this awful spirit of Fred – I don’t know what it is! I do get people coming up but they love the show and can see the concept that I’m an actor playing a part – they don’t come up and punch me in the face there and then!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Andie MacDowell “learned a lot about taking chances” from Michael Keaton.
The 64-year-old actress says the pair’s 1996 sci-fi comedy ‘Multiplicity’ was underrated and should have been as big a hit as her other ’90s flick ‘Groundhog Dog’.
Asked if one her films has a special place in her heart, she replied: “‘Multiplicity’. It was great, and Michael Keaton is brilliant in it. It should have been equally as successful as ‘Groundhog Day’. The people who did see it, loved it. It was ahead of its time. They used brand-new technology, as Michael plays four characters.”
The answer prompted the interviewer to ask if she’s still in touch with the 70-year-old actor, and she said the ‘Jack Frost’ star has been hugely influential on her approach to characters.
Andie replied: “He interviewed me recently about ‘Maid’. I learned a lot from Michael about taking chances, and playing a character that’s bigger than life.”
Meanwhile, the screen star insisted she can always tell if she’s done a good job or not and she only likes watching herself on screen if she thinks her acting wasn’t “s***”.
She told Empire: “I do watch it, but not over and over again. I think when I know something is probably going to be s***, I don’t particularly look forward to watching that. But if I think something went well, I don’t mind watching it. I’m pretty honest with myself. I know when something’s just s***.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The 95th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday March 12, 2023.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC announced that next year’s ceremony will be held in March at the Dolby Theatre, the earliest they have taken place since 2020.
Oscar nomination voting will take place between January 12 and 17 with the nominations announcement on January 24.
Final voting will be open from March 2 to March 7, closing five days before the Oscars ceremony.
The Academy announced on its website: “The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC today announced the 95th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 12, 2023. The show will air live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.”
After three years of hostless ceremonies, Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes were announced as the MCs of the 2022 awards show.
They were the first all-female trio in Oscars history and the show was the first time three hosts presented the event since Paul Hogan, Chevy Chase, and Goldie Hawn 35 years ago.
Schumer revealed she had been approached in the past but had declined, saying: “I just feel like we’re coming out of this pandemic and I think we all have this new lease on life and I’m like, I want to host the Oscars. I want to perform and I feel like telling jokes and getting to do it with Wanda and Regina is beyond my wildest dreams.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Freeman says it was “odd” and “sad” to make ‘Black Panther 2’ without the late Chadwick Boseman.
The 50-year-old actor reprised his role as Everett K. Ross in the second instalment of Marvel’s superhero film ‘Black Panther’ and spoke about how things had changed following the death of lead actor Chadwick who died in 2020 after a secret battle with colon cancer.
Freeman told Collider: “On the one hand, you’re making the film that you’re there to make, and there are scores and scores of people on set, joined in this to make the film. But there’s also no question that, at the heart of it, there’s quite a gap now, and you felt it.
“With full respect to [director] Ryan Coogler and everybody else, who’s sweating and bleeding to get this thing done properly, it was fun.
“It was enjoyable. I was in and out of it quite quickly, I think. But I like playing Everett Ross. He’s a very fun character to play. He’s nicely simpatico for the story. He’s a good guy.
“But it was odd. Of course, it was odd with Chadwick [Boseman] not being there. There’s no way around that. I think everyone would find it pretty strange and sad, but at the same time, life things don’t just end. It’s not like, “Well, that’s happened, so we just all have to go off and never do it again.” But it was odd. When he passed, I thought, ‘Okay, well maybe there just won’t be another one.’ But there are still other stories to tell within that world and other great characters. I think and I hope that we’ve made a good film. I trust Ryan Coogler a lot.”
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ which is currently in post-production, is scheduled to be released exclusively in cinemas on November 11, 2022.

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Olsen says making Marvel movies involves a lot of acting on your own.
The 33-year-old actress plays Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe media franchise, most recently reprising her role for ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.
But despite the film’s star-studded cast made up of Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Xochitl Gomez – Elizabeth revealed she never actually got to meet the majority of the people in the movie, as filming involved a lot of solo acting.
She told Collider: “I never met lots of people in the movie. Also, we were acting with ourselves as well. There’s a lot of acting with an imagination that we get to do, which is a challenge and a joy. There’s part of it that feels really imaginative and childlike that we get to do.
“Also, this script was always a moving object. It was never something that was set in stone. I wasn’t surprised when they were doing the reshoots. I knew that the reshoots didn’t affect my arc so much. When it did affect me, I just did voiceover work for it.”
The sequel, directed by Sam Raimi, carries on the story of world-renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch), whose life changed forever following a near fatal car accident where he lost the use of his hands.
In his quest to regain their function he obtained mystical powers that turned him into a superhero. The second movie sees Strange cast a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse which poses a threat so great to humanity that not even the combined forces of Strange and Wanda can fight them off.

OHMYGOSSIP — Glen Powell did “a lot of puking” while filming ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The 33-year-old actor – who portrays pilot Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin in the film – and his co-stars on the action sequel underwent three months of training ahead of shooting in order to grow accustomed to g-force, but only lead actor Tom Cruise managed to stay unaffected while up in the sky.
Glen is quoted by The Sun on Sunday newspaper as saying: “There was a lot of puke during filming.
“Before shooting, Tom sent us on three months of training to get used to the g-force.
“(But) even with training, nothing prepares you for the intensity of flying in an F-18.
“We were all flying once a day and Tom was up there three times every day.
“But it didn’t faze him at all.
“There we are, all being sick into bags, and he is taking everything in his stride.
“The guy is a machine.”
Miles Teller, who portrays Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw, previously revealed the cast had gone through an intense “Tom Cruise boot camp” before making the film.
He said: “We were all mini Toms making this movie. He put us through… I’ll just call it a ‘Tom Cruise boot camp’. We were getting in killer shape.
“And also for the stunts and stuff that Tom does in movies, it’s usually a very specific type of training. You’re not just going into the gym and lifting some weights. We did flight training for three months before we started filming… We got put through the wringer.”
Tom, who will reprise his role as Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the movie, confirmed he had developed a training scheme for his co-stars to help them learn how to fly the Boeing F/A-18 Superhornet jets.
The ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor said: “I developed a programme for the actors, and how we could get them in the (F/A-18s).
“It was every step of the way. I had to teach them how to fly. I had to teach them how to handle gs. I had to get them confident in the aeroplane.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley are reuniting on ‘Wicked Little Letters’.
The two actress starred together in critically-acclaimed drama ‘The Lost Daughter’ and now they are turning their attentions to lighter fare as they’ll play very different neighbours who come together to solve a mystery in the Thea Sharrock-directed comedy.
Jonny Sweet has written the script for the film, which is based on a true story from the 1920s and sees Edith Swan (Colman) and other residents of the seaside town of Littlehampton receive a string of shocking letters, causing fiery Rose Gooding (Buckley) to come under suspicion, leaving her at risk of losing her freedom and the custody of her daughter.
But police officer Gladys Moss suspects something is amiss and joins forces with a group of women to find the truth.
Olivia and her husband Ed Sinclair will produce the film – which is due to start shooting in the UK this autumn – for South Of The River, alongside Studiocanal and Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin of Blueprint.
The ‘Favourite’ star said: “Here at South Of The River, we could not be happier to be sitting alongside Studiocanal and Blueprint in bringing this amazing true story to life.
“‘Wicked Little Letters’ is as hilarious as it is unexpected with beautifully and affectionately drawn characters across the board.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Myers would “love to do” a fourth ‘Austin Powers’ movie.
The 58-year-old actor starred as both the titular comedic parody of suave spy James Bond and his arch-nemesis Dr. Evil in three movies – ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ in 1997, ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who S****ed Me’ in 1999, and ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’ in 2002 – and he would be up for reprising the roles again, but couldn’t confirm whether or not another film is in the works.
He said: “I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project, should it exist or not exist.”
When it was suggested his comment felt “like a confirmation”, he told SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle: “It was a non-confirmed, confirmation confirmation.”
Myers – who also wrote and produced the trilogy – spoke about the possibility of a fourth ‘Austin Powers’ movie in November 2018, admitting it was “looking good”.
He said at the time: “Well you’re gonna see Dr. Evil soon, somewhere in the culture. But the movie, you know I’ve had three kids under the age of seven. They take a long time to write, they always have. Jay [Roach]’s been super crazy. He’s doing a fantastic movie right now that he’s working on. But … it’s looking good.”
Myers also previously claimed he would love to make a fourth movie in the franchise, as he explained the film series was created as a “tribute” to his father, who passed away in 1991.
He said: “After my dad died in 1991, I was taking stock of his influence on me as a person and his influence on me with comedy in general. So Austin Powers was a tribute to my father, who [introduced me to] James Bond, Peter Sellers, The Beatles, The Goodies, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.
“I would love to do another, but you just have to see. I was devastated by my father’s death. But to have that turn into something that makes people happy is unbelievably satisfying. It’s that kind of stuff you never get used to or get tired of.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Felicity Jones and Jonathan Bailey are set to star in Simon Amstell’s comedy film ‘Maria’.
The ‘On The Basis Of Sex ‘ actress and the ‘Bridgerton’ star have boarded the 42-year-old comedian’s latest flick following 2016’s ‘Carnage’ and 2018’s ‘Benjamin’.
The former will star in the titular role of “a young woman with a history of running from reality. Struggling to accept her age, her boyfriend’s love and her father’s indifference, Maria spots an opportunity to feel young, free and desirable at her father’s wedding, where she meets Raffy, her new stepbrother. Their obvious, if inconvenient, sexual chemistry is made worse by the news that her father has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.”
Jonathan – who shot to critical acclaim portraying Lord Anthony Bridgerton in the hit Netflix period drama – is set to play Maria’s boyfriend Eddy.
‘Harry Potter’ star Jason Isaacs has been cast in the role of Maria’s father.
Filming is due to commence in the UK and US in autumn 2022, Deadline reports.
Amstell said: “I’m incredibly excited to begin shooting ‘Maria’ this year with Felicity Jones. Our hope is that making a film about our culture’s fear of aging and death will be an absolute sensation.”
Felicity has recently been filming IRA thriller ‘Borderland’ in Glasgow, while the second series of ‘Bridgerton’ hit screens in March.
