OHMYGOSSIP — Gino D’Acampo is wanted for this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 45-year-old TV chef – who is known for his appearances on ‘This Morning’ and for winning ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here’ in 2009 – is being touted by bosses of the BBC dancing show because he has “universal appeal”.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Every year the team behind the show want to get the perfect balance of stars, whether it’s for their sex appeal, humour, or if they are a particular draw for older or younger viewers.
“But they view Gino as someone who has universal appeal, who is up for a laugh and more than capable of keeping audiences entertained.”
The source explained that Gino – who has been married to Jessica Stellina Morrison since 2002 and has kids Luciano, 19, Rocco, 17, and nine-year-old Mia with her – has “serious star appeal”, owing to his previous TV appearances.
The source added: “He also has serious star appeal, having been on ‘This Morning’ for 13 years and winning ‘I’m A Celebrity’.”
Gino – who back in 2021 hosted a revival of classic game show ‘Family Fortunes’ – previously admitted he had been invited to take part in ‘Strictly’ in 2019, but had to turn the opportunity down due to other work commitments.
He said at the time: “That show would require a lot of time and training. Who has got time for that? Not me  … not at the moment.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is set to return for its 20th series later this year, after ‘EastEnders’ star Rose Ayling-Ellis and pro dancer Giovanni Pernice won the 19th series at the end of 2021.

OHMYGOSSIP — Deborah James thinks it’s “crazy” she is being made a Dame.
The 40-year-old presenter revealed earlier this week she had moved to end-of-life care after battling bowel cancer since 2016, and in recognition of her fundraising efforts and campaigning to raise awareness of the disease, it has been announced she will receive recognition from Queen Elizabeth.
Deborah – who has raised more than £3.7 million since announcing on Monday (09.05.22) she was stopping treatment – said: “OMFG, this is crazy. I don’t know what to say. I’m blown away and feel incredibly honoured.
“I don’t feel like I deserve this. I can’t tell you what this means to my family, it’s so much to take in.”
Damehoods and knighthoods are typically only announced as part of the New Year or Queen’s Birthday Honours, but can be given out at different times in exceptional circumstances.
Downing Street confirmed: “The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Damehood be conferred upon Deborah James.”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson added: “If ever an honour was richly deserved, this is it. Deborah has been an inspiration and her honesty, warmth and courage has been a source of strength to so many people.
“Through her tireless campaigning and by so openly sharing her experience she has not only helped in our fight against this terrible disease, she has ensured countless others with the Big C have not felt alone.”
The podcaster iss aiming to get her Bowelbabe Fund to £5million by the end of this weekend.
She added from her parents’ central London home where she is receiving hospice-at-home care: “It’s surpassed all expectations. I’d love to get it to £5million by the end of the weekend.”
Her kids Eloise, 12, and Hugo, 14, said about her damehood: “We’re just speechless, we’re so, so proud.”
Deborah’s husband Seb insisted the honour was “truly deserved”.
He told The Sun newspaper:“It has brought a piercing ray of light and hope into this, the darkest of times.
“She has campaigned tirelessly, often through adversity, and being recognised with a Damehood is something that she would never have dreamt of, but it is so truly deserved.”
Deborah’s proud parents Heather and Alistair added: “It is amazing that the love for our inspirational daughter has been honoured in this way. It recognises her strength and courage in sharing her story over the last five years to help others facing cancer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa has thanked Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant for their “beautiful words of support” after he was unveiled as the 14th Doctor Who.
The ‘Sex Education’ star has bagged the role of the titular Time Lord on the iconic BBC sci-fi series ‘Doctor Who’ and is set to replace Jodie when she bows out later this year.
And it’s not just his immediate predecessor who has provided him with “encouragement”, with 10th Doctor, David, getting behind the 29-year-old star.
Ncuti wrote on Instagram: “There are a lot of thank you’s in this caption so please excuse the cringe. But mans feeling hella grateful at the moment….
“Thank you @bafta for continually supporting and recognising the @sexeducation family and myself. 3rd nomination in a row feels very mad.”
He added: “The Doctor herself, Jodie Whittaker and Mr David Tennant for your beautiful words of support and encouragement on BAFTA day. I was absolutely cacking my pants and honestly speaking to you two was priceless.”
He went on to thank returning showrunner, Russel T. Davies, for taking a chance on him, and admitted he’s been left “stunned and speechless” by everyone’s warm reception to the news.
He added: “The Doctor Who fam: Russell, all the producers and the wonderful fans have been so gracious and welcoming. I am stunned and speechless at the support.”
Ncuti will make history as the first black actor to take charge of the Tardis, and he has insisted he wants to be “himself” as Doctor Who.
Asked what he will bring to the role, he said: “Just myself, I think actors are incredible people that put so much of themselves into roles and so each one is going to be really different. Each Doctor that’s gone before has been so incredibly talented and so incredibly brilliant, I don’t know how I’m going to follow in their footsteps but I’m going to try my best.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jayne Dunn has vowed to never return to ‘Hollyoaks’ after bosses fired her for opening an OnlyFans account.
The 40-year-old actress was forced to leave the Channel 4 soap last year after she refused to close her model account on the adult subscription website on the demands of bosses.
Following her dismissal, Sarah insists that she has consigned her character Mandy Richardson to the past, although she doesn’t think that producers will ever ask her back anyway because of the way she exited the programme.
Speaking on the ‘Drama School Dropout’ podcast, she said: “It was an immediate termination.
“At the moment she hasn’t been killed off, but I don’t think it will be me reprising the role if she ever returns.
“I think, for me, I needed that closure, and that’s given me closure now. I didn’t particularly like what they had done with the character in the last year, I was really a little bit lost with her and struggling to understand why she had done what she had done. She was so out of character and there wasn’t a big enough reason for me to go, ‘Oh, I get it.’
“I wasn’t massively happy there anyway and I think I would have stayed forever so maybe I needed a push. It’s not how I would have wanted it to happen, it’s not ideal, you never want your name associated with being fired. But the support I’ve had and the positivity around it and the fact that I stood my ground and I feel I made the right choice for me and my family outweighs all of that, for me.”
Sarah – who has made it into the top 0.5 per cent of content creators on OnlyFans since launching her account – has accused bosses of hypocrisy for axing her over her account, on which she posts racy images, because most of the soap’s female cast have similar content on their Instagram accounts to what she is posting behind a paywall.
The blonde beauty – who played her character Mandy Richardson from 1996 over five stints before her departure in 2021 – added: “I’ve purposely moved all my images, my underwear and bikini shots on to my OnlyFans platform to keep my Instagram more wholesome, more clean, more family friendly, fitness and beauty and all of that.
“If you look at other people’s accounts who are still on the show, and this is not detrimental to them at all, it’s the same sort of images and they are out there and they’re alright with that. But because it’s mine are behind a paywall it’s an issue for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Adam Woodyatt lost three stone by giving up alcohol.
The 53-year-old actor took a break from playing Ian Beale in the BBC One soap last year and has been driving across the UK in a motorhome while taking part in a touring production of ‘ Looking Good Dead’.
He also enjoys regular cycle rides and has lost a substantial amount of weight over the last few months, but he mainly credits his trim new figure to his decision to bin booze from his diet.
Speaking to The Cambridge Independent newspaper, he said: “Basically I gave up alcohol. That was the biggest change I made.
“With giving up alcohol, the weight drops off and because the weight dropped it was easier to cycle. So it was easier to stay fit.
“That’s all it was. I’m just not really focused on it. I’ve not really made a big fuss about it. I just stopped drinking.”
Adam now drinks nothing stronger than coffee but admitted he doesn’t know if he will remain teetotal.
He added: ” ‘m not going to turn around and say that’s it forever, that I’m never ever going to drink again. But at this point in my life, yeah, I’m quite happy not drinking. And the result is I’ve lost about three stone in weight.”
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star went on to explain that losing weight has made it easier for him to enjoy exercise as being lighter has helped him embrace his love of cycling.
Adam also explained his decision to move into his motorhome, revealing it was helpful while he was on tour with his play and he also no longer needs a room for his daughter since she has moved to the US.
The actor left ‘EastEnders’ in January 2021 and went on to appear in ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’
He’s rumoured to be in talks to return to the soap as part of a £300,000-a-year deal.

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley is taking her hit documentary series ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over’ to the US.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star launched her popular ‘Sleeps Over’ show back in 2019 and has filmed three seasons for the W channel.
In every episode, she spends 72 hours as a house guest with an unusual family – and she is now taking the format across the pond in a new series called ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’.
UKTV’s head of factual and factual entertainment Hilary Rosen, who commissioned the American version, said: “This series has gone from strength to strength and taking it abroad is an exciting departure.
“Heading to the USA will deliver fresh encounters for Stacey, and a compelling new series of this much loved brand for the W audience.”
Adam Collings, channel director for W, added: “I’m delighted we’re sleeping over once again in this brilliant new series with Stacey and can’t wait to watch her inimitable approach, which is further from home than usual.
“It’s also been great seeing the new free to air audience finding and loving the series, so we excited to bring the next instalment later this year.”
Stacey’s previous shows have included sleepovers with a couple who have an open marriage, a Mormon family and “landed gentry”.
Series two of ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over’ featured a family of Orthodox Jews, “Eco Warriors” and an episode which focused on ‘Living With Down Syndrome’.
Filming on the American series is due to start in the summer and its scheduled to air later this year.
A statement from UKTV, the company behind the W channel, added: “(Stacey will be) meeting a variety of extraordinary families in the USA and will be lifting the lid on more fascinating and unusual lifestyles.
“Further information on the families and locations that Stacey is visiting will be revealed in the coming months, with filming due to start in the summer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katrina and The Waves singer Katrina Leskanich will be “rooting” for Ukraine at the upcoming ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The annual singing competition takes place in Italy on Saturday and all eyes will be on the Ukrainian entrant Kalush Orchestra which has been tipped for success in light of the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Former ‘Eurovision’ winner Katrina has opened up about her hopes for this year’s ceremony and admitted she wants Ukraine to do well because of her own links to the war-torn nation.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “As I’m half Ukrainian, I’m also rooting for Ukraine. My grandfather came over from Ukraine to Pennsylvania in 1927 with his clarinet where he was planning on putting a band together.
“He ended up in mines and he was killed in a coal mine. He left his nine-year-old son, who was my father, to go and sell his clarinet.
“The family was extremely poor. Thinking of the things my family went through, and seeing the things people in Ukraine are going through now, makes me very emotional.”
However she is still hoping her beloved UK has a chance with ‘Spaceman’ by Sam Ryder.
She added: “I think let’s let the UK win and Ukraine come second.”
Katrina was born in the US before moving to the UK with her family in the 1970s.
‘Katrina and The Waves’ won the contest for the UK back in 1997 with their track ‘Love Shine a Light’.
It became the group’s biggest hit since the release of ‘Walking on Sunshine’ more than a decade earlier in 1985.
The UK has yet to record another ‘Eurovision’ win since, and hit a low last year when James Newman came bottom of the scoreboard with 0 points for his track ‘Embers’.
Ukraine’s song ‘Stefania’ by Kalush Orchestra will be among the acts competing for the title this year, however, Russia’s act was given the boot following the country’s invasion of neighbouring Ukraine back in February.
It marks the first time Russia has not competed in the contest since 1994.

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Kielty felt “terrified” as he prepared to make his acting debut in his first movie.
The comedian and TV star landed his first big screen role in new film ‘Ballywalter’, which is set in is native Northern Ireland.
Patrick has never acted before and has admitted it was a huge challenge for him.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he was asked how is acting is, to which he replied: “No idea.
“I’ve never done any screen acting before. I was terrified. The film’s out later in the year so ask me this question again when I’m hiding behind the back row seats.”
The movie is described as a “bitter sweet comedy drama” and stars Ryan McParland, Seána Kerslake and Paul Mallon while Patrick plays a character called Shane.
The comic was previously involved with another movie set in Northern Ireland, Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-winning film ‘Belfast’.
Patrick was asked to host the premiere of the movie in the city of the same name, and he admitted it was an honour to be a part of such a special experience.
He added: “I was really lucky when Ken rang up and asked if I would host the premiere for ‘Belfast’ in Belfast.
“To be in Belfast watching a Belfast audience watching that film and having to get up and talk to the cast afterwards and what Ken has been through and his Belfast story … it was a really emotional night.”
‘Belfast’ stars Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan and Ciarán Hinds won the Best Original Screenplay prize at the Oscars earlier this year.
It is a coming-of-age story and is partly-based on Kenneth’s own experiences growing up in Belfast.
