OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Walker was late for work today after he forgot to set his 3am alarms “for the first time in six years”.
The 45-year-old presenter, who hosted his last ‘BBC Breakfast’ Wednesday show alongside Sally Nugent this morning (11.05.22) ahead of his exit next week, had to rush to work and “wasn’t too late” after failing to set his early morning wake-up calls.
He wrote on Twitter: “My last ever Wednesday on #BBCBreakfast and guess what? I forgot to set my alarms for the first time in six years.
“Thankfully the body clock kicked in and I wasn’t too late. I hope you can join us today (sic)”
Earlier this month, Dan, who is departing ‘BBC Breakfast’ after six years to take on a role as the Channel 5 News anchor, announced his final show will take place on Tuesday (17.05.22).
Speaking to his co-host Sally on the show, he said: “You know you keep asking me when I’m going? Well, I can tell you now, officially.
“May 17 is my last day – so two weeks today. If you discount this one, it’s only six [shifts left]. Six more three o’clockers and I’m out of here.”
Dan previously admitted he was “really excited” about joining Channel 5, but it had been a “massive decision” to leave ‘BBC Breakfast’ behind.
He tweeted: “Hello, Dan Walker here, I have a little bit of news for you. In the next few weeks I’m going to be leaving BBC Breakfast and moving to 5 News and to Channel 5.
“I’m really excited but this has also been a massive decision for me because I love BBC Breakfast. I love working alongside Sally and I love the team there.
“But Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans and I don’t think opportunities like this come around very often and I can’t wait.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar are to star in ‘Hold the Front Page’.
The 39-year-old comedian will team up with fellow star Nish, 36, to play a pair of local newspaper journalists in the Sky Max sitcom for a full series, following a successful pilot last year.
Josh told British Comedy Guide: “Recording the pilot was so much fun, I love working with Nish. And now we’re filming the full series this summer. I’m really excited about doing it because I’m so pleased with how the pilot came out. People really responded to it!”
The pilot saw the pair of comedians team up to play sports journalists who write a series of articles for the West Sussex Gazette, which claims to be Britain’s oldest newspaper.
At the time, Director and editor-in-chief Gary Shipton said: “Trusted local news has never been more important. We believe this will really raise the profile of both local newspapers and the power of ‘local’ in a post-pandemic world and we are hugely grateful to Josh, Nish and CPL for asking us to be involved.”
Before turning to comedy, Josh worked as a sports journalist for The Guardian and Nish was the host of BBC satire news show ‘The Mash Report’ until it was cancelled in order to in order “to make room for new comedy shows”.
It returned on Dave last year under new name ‘Late Night Mash’, but Nish quit the show just weeks after it was rebooted.
Josh is set to return to his presenting role on comedy panel show ‘Hypothetical’ alongside James Acaster, and admitted shooting the fourth series has felt a lot more “free” after COVID restrictions were lifted.
He said: “There were small audience restrictions compared to the previous series. We kept the long table because we liked it, it just made us feel like big men. The series before it was almost impossible. You couldn’t go within two metres of anyone, understandably. There’s definitely more freedom. And booking it was so easy because everyone wanted to work, they’d all had eighteen months off.
“So you’ve got loads of great people excited to be back in a TV studio. It was brilliant.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alesha Dixon has been immortalised in biscuits.
A likeness of the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge’s features have been sculpted by food artist Nathan Wyburn, who spent three days using over 644 biscuits including McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives, Hobnobs and Rich Teas and the ‘Lipstick’ hitmaker is very tempted to tuck into her portrait.
She said: “I have been a fan of Nathan’s work since watching his debut on the show in 2011. His unique talent is the exact reason why the nation loves ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. It was very surreal to see myself created entirely out of McVitie’s biscuits… I wonder if it’s still edible?”
A short film has been created showing Nathan – who made it to the semi-finals of the ITV competition in series five – working on the project, which was commissioned as part of McVitie’s Golden Moments campaign, which aims to spread stories of positivity and fun across the nation including the opportunity to win money-can’t-buy experiences such as tickets to the live Britain’s Got Talent Final.
The artist had a great time working on the portrait because he’s such a biscuit fan.
He said: “The best part of making art like this is getting to work with your favourite snacks and treats… and who doesn’t love a biscuit!? I loved being on the show all those years ago, so I jumped at the chance to work on creating this bespoke artwork of the beautiful Alesha Dixon – she can now enjoy being celebrated in delicious McVitie’s biscuits!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Prue Leith is to be a judge on the American version of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 82-year-old star will join Paul Hollywood on the ‘Great American Baking Show’ – which her pal has been a part of since 2017 – and will also film a celebrity special, ‘The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday Edition’, it has been announced.
The programme hasn’t aired in the US since January 2020 and Prue’s addition to the judging panel came as the show moves from ABC to streaming service The Roku Channel.
The veteran chef previously claimed American’s “can’t understand” ‘The Great British Bake Off’ because it is so “quaint”.
She said: “All their competition shows are aggressive and competitors diss each other and try to get ahead.
‘They can’t understand that ‘Bake Off’, or ‘The Baking Show’, has no prize apart from winning.’
Prue replaces American chef Sherry Yard on the show, which is hosted by Anthony Adams and Spice Girls star Emma Bunton.
Prue previously admitted she hates food wastage and gets “really cross” if her cooking goes wrong because of her wartime upbringing.
She said: “I was born in 1940, at the start of the Second World War.
“My family was privileged, but the wartime mentality of ‘waste not, want not’ still prevailed.
“I remember putting a lot of butter on my bread and my father saying, rather tartly, ‘Do you want some bread with your butter?’
“I’ve been anxious not to waste anything ever since.
“If I do, I am very angry with myself. I get really cross if I burn anything.”
Prue also thinks it’s important to educate young people about the importance of cooking and sustainability.
She explained: “I’ve spent 60 years trying to persuade governments to teach children to love food.
“A great way is to get them to grow vegetables and then cook them, so they are invested in the whole process.
“We have to teach them not only how to cook, but about sustainability. Food education has to be just as important as maths.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bad Education’ is to return for a 10-year anniversary special and a spin-off series.
The comedy will head back to BBC Three for a 45-minute episode, which will see Jack Whitehall reprise his role as teacher Alfie Wickers, who will reunite with his old students at Abbey Grove for a chaotic careers day.
Jack said: “I’m so pumped for a ten-year anniversary special of ‘Bad Education’, the show that launched my career.
“I have such fond memories and it will be great for the fans to check in and find out what class K have been up to since they left and if Alfie Wickers is still as much of a melt as they remember.”
A brand-new spin-off – which will air on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer – will see a new intake of unruly students at Abbey Grove and two former classmates, diva Stephen (Layton Williams) and soon-to-be-family-man-with-responsibilities Mitchell (Charlie Wernham) will find themselves on the other side of the desk as newly qualified teachers.
Jack added: “The new series is so exciting. I’m so old and irrelevant I’ve decided it’s best I take more of a producer role with ‘Bad Education’, but we’ve assembled a young, talented group of writers led by the brilliant Nathan Bryon who will be carrying the torch.
“Charlie Wernham is his generation’s Danny Dyer but with less royal heritage. Hopefully being a lead in this will be a springboard to him doing a decade of violent Brit flicks about hooliganism.
“Layton Williams is a superstar. I honestly think one day he will be an EGOTT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, TV Choice Award winner). Abbey Grove and the new class K couldn’t be in safer hands.”
Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning at the BBC, added: “Jack being back on BBC Three dawns the start of a new term for ‘Bad Education’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Duttine thinks ‘Coronation Street’ bosses would be “crazy” to split Tim and Sally Metcalfe up.
The 51-year-old actor – who has played Tim since joining the ITV soap in 2010 – is enjoying playing out his current hard-hitting plot, which sees Tim try to hide his impotence from his wife (Sally Dynevor), because it “challenges” their relationship without the need for an affair.
He said: “I thought this storyline was great, I loved it when I was first told about it. I thought it was a brilliant storyline because it is taken seriously but has a mix of the ‘Corrie’ comedy as well.
“I didn’t think it would spell the end of Tim and Sally because I think they would be crazy to split them up but I think it’s a good way to challenge their relationship and create drama and conflict between the two of them without anyone having an affair.
“It’s a great idea to see how their relationship works through something so intimate and personal as this considering how sexually active they are.”
Tim resorts to buying over the counter erectile dysfunction tablets instead of getting prescribed Viagra from a doctor, because he’s too embarrassed, despite suffering from a major heart condition.
Joe added: “Tim feels like going to the doctor and being prescribed Viagra is far too embarrassing and humiliating for him. Sally and Tim are very sexually active so he feels a certain pressure from the relationship but he feels like he can deal with this problem on his own. Tim hovers over the caption that warns about heart conditions so he is aware of the dangers but skips over it.”
This is not be the first time Tim has hidden a health condition from his wife.
ITV viewers previously saw Tim mask his heart condition from Sally, which ended in triple bypass surgery, letting her believe he was having an affair with nurse Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw) instead.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Detectorists’ is to return for a new special episode.
The BBC Four comedy – which stars Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones as metal detecting enthusiasts Andy and Lance – will be back for a 75-minute episode, which will air later this year, five years after the end of the third series.
Mackenzie said: “It was 2017 when we were last in Danebury and I miss my old friends in the DMDC [Danebury Metal Detecting Club].
“I’ve had a story percolating for a while and I thought it was worth getting Lance, Andy and the rest of the band back together for.
“The affection expressed for ‘Detectorists’ over the years has been incredible and I hope fans of the show will enjoy this new, extended episode.”
Producer Gill Isles “can’t wait” to see what Mackenzie – who also writes and directs the show – comes up with.
She said: “It’s absolutely thrilling to be spending the summer back in Danebury with Mackenzie and the team.
“There is so much love for the show that I can’t wait for everyone to see what Mackenzie has in store in this next chapter.”
Jon Petrie, the BBC’s new Director of Comedy, confirmed the news as he revealed the corporation is to plunge £10 million into comedy over the next two years.
Speaking at the BBC Comedy Festival, he said: “BBC Comedy is doing phenomenally well. Last year, iPlayer had 538 million requests for comedy shows.
“The BBC is by far the biggest fish in the pond when it comes to comedy. There is no other broadcaster that can provide as many services.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Adams could be representing Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The 40-year-old pop star – who is best known as a member of 1990s British-Norwegian boy band A1 alongside Christian Ingebrigtsen, Paul Marazzi and Mark Read – is rumoured to be taking to the stage at the grand final of the annual competition as part of pop duo Subwoolfer, whose identities have not been disclosed to the public.
A friend of Ben told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ve known him for over 10 years. I spoke to him the other day and he still won’t confirm or deny if he is a member of Subwoolfer. But … I’ve listened to the track and I could be wrong, but it certainly sounds like him!”
Since his days in the boy band, the British-born star has relocated to Oslo in Norway, where he currently lives with model fiancee Sara Skjoldnes and their eight-month-old daughter.
Subwoolfer recently performed their novelty song ‘Give Them A Banana’, with lyrics that allude to the story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ in the first semi-final heat.
The lyrics read: “Have I ever told you that I really like your teeth, that hairy coat of yours with nothing underneath”.
However, Norwegian band Ylvis have also been rumoured to be behind the masks, but those gearing up for the grand final in Turin, Italy don’t seem to have an idea who the mystery two could be.
A source said: “Most of the staff haven’t seen them without their masks, even backstage!”
TikTok star Sam Ryder is set to represent the UK with the song ‘Space Man’ and is the third favourite to win with odds of 11/2, with Italy second at odds of 9/2 and Ukraine are odds-on favourites at 8/15.
‘The Eurovision Song Contest’ starts at 8pm on BBC One on Saturday (14.05.22) and will be hosted by Graham Norton.

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Richardson will “never get used to” heartbreak.
The 51-year-old TV presenter struck up a relationship with former ‘Great British Bake Off’ co-host Sue Perkins, 52, in 2014 but the pair split in 2021, and Anna has admitted she is yet to find out how to “solve” heartbreak and “become stronger” afterwards.
She said: “No one can ever prepare you for it. Even when it happens a handful of times in your life, you just never quite get used to it. I suppose I don’t know whether you become more resilient as you get older, but heartbreak definitely is still that mystery that needs to be solved, and how to get over it and become stronger.”
However, the ‘Naked Attraction’ host – who was initially in a relationship with producer Charles Martin between 1996 and 2014 – admitted in recent times the biggest challenge she has faced has been that of ageing.
Asked what her most recent challenge has been, she told OK! magazine: “I was thinking about this earlier on and you know what? Honestly, it’s been ageing, and hitting 50. We all used to get really hung up about hitting 40. I’m telling you, you wait until you get into your late forties, early fifties.”
The star explained that once she hit the menopause, she suffered the “visceral realisation” that she would never become a mother and is worried about the “declining” years ahead of her.
She said: “You hit the menopause, you start thinking, ‘Am I in the right marriage?’ And for a lot of my friends, who are going through divorces, you start thinking, ‘Oh God, I forgot to have children. What now?’ It’s a really fundamental and visceral realisation [if you haven’t had children] that, ‘Oh my God, I can’t do that anymore.’ Even if I wanted to!’
“[Thinking about the future] leaves me with slow, inexorable dread. It seems to be a bit of a decline. And it’s very, very difficult.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Aston and his wife Briony have welcomed a baby girl into the world.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star and his significant other – who have 20-month-old son Sonny – are delighted with their new arrival.
They told OK!: “Our beautiful girl has arrived.”
Sam – who has played Chesney Brown in the ITV soap since 2003 – and Briony revealed in December they were expecting their second child.
He said: “I could see us having another boy, so it was a really nice surprise. I was quite shocked. I don’t know why, because it’s a 50/50 chance! We booked an early gender reveal 4D scan at a place called Instascan 4D Baby in Padiham.
“There are twins in Briony’s family, so when we went in I was a bit nervous and said, ‘There’s definitely only one in there, right?’ He said, ‘There’s only one!’ and then told us it was a girl!”
The couple hadn’t been planning to have another child so soon but now they are happy to be having kids that will be close in age.
Briony explained: “We were actually trying not to get pregnant! [Laughs] Just because Sonny was so premature – my concern was having two too close together and having another premature baby. But it just happened!
“Like with Sonny, I just knew I was pregnant – something was a little bit off and I didn’t feel well. I took a test and obviously it was positive. It was a bit of a shock for Sam!”
Sam added: “It’s fantastic news. It sounds like I wasn’t pleased but I really was. It’s just that with Sonny it was as planned as it could be, whereas this happened out of the blue…
“It will be nice with them growing up being so close in age and being able to play together.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Disney+ has gained 8 million subscribers.
The media company’s on-demand app – which was launched in 2020 and is now thought to have almost 90 million subscribers worldwide – made the revelation during its annual Q2 earnings report on Wednesday (12.05.22), just weeks after rival streamer Netflix lost 200,000.
In the report documents, Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, of The Walt Disney Company said: “Our strong results in the second quarter, including fantastic performance at our domestic parks and continued growth of our streaming services—with 7.9 million Disney+ subscribers added in the quarter and total subscriptions across all our DTC offerings exceeding 205 million—once again proved that we are in a league of our own,. As we look ahead to Disney’s second century, I am confident we will continue to transform entertainment by combining extraordinary storytelling with innovative technology to create an even larger, more connected, and magical Disney universe for families and fans around the world.”
Since its launch, the streaming app has given fans easy access to all the Disney classics such as ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Mary Poppins’ but as well as Disney Channel sitcoms and original movies but also managed to secure the streaming rights to all 32 seasons Fox’s classic series ‘The Simpsons’ and has partnered with Hulu to bring viewers current hits like ‘Pam and Tommy’ and ‘The Kardashians.’
Meanwhile, rival Netflix dropped 200,00 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, followed by a 35 per cent stock price drop and could be set to lose 2 million more over the course of 2022.
Co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos said at the time: “We’ve got to compete, and we’ve got to continue to improve on the core service which is making TV series and films and now games that people really love. That’s what we’re really focused on and that’s a thing we can continue to grow the business in. Now, we talked about being highly penetrated in some of those core markets with users, which means that it’s harder to get them to join Netflix if they are already using Netflix. So we’ve got to figure out these different models that we’re doing now to more effectively monetize that viewing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan is in talks to appear in the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ All Stars series.
The 31-year-old star – who has three children, Matilda, six, Delilah, three, and 12-month-old son Charlie with her footballer fiance Scott Sinclair – appeared in the main ITV show in 2012, finishing seventh, and it is thought if she could make the programme work around her kids she might sign up.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Helen has three young kids who are very much her priority.
“But if she can make it work around them, she will consider signing up.”
ITV look set to invite legendary ‘I’m A Celebrity’ campmates back for a pre-recorded version of the show filmed in South Africa at the Kruger National Park later this year.
The series – which is expected to be co-hosted by the main show’s presenters Ant and Dec – is then expected to air in early 2023.
A source recently told the publication: “Fans have been crying out for a Best Of series for years, and their prayers are being answered.
“The normal show will be filmed in Australia as planned, unless COVID makes it impossible again. The South African project is in no way a back-up, it’s a completely different series.
“It will see all of the iconic names who have made the show so popular over the years return to the campfire and battle it out to be crowned the Best Of champion.
“There are so many to choose from and they’re sounding out the most talked-about ones now.”
During her time in the jungle, Helen was voted to do numerous Bushtucker Trials.
In 2019 while watching that year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity’, she recalled her “panic” about the dreaded challenges.
She said: “Just the thought even when Ant and Dec come on and say, ‘We’ve got this challenge’ just gives me the fear.
“I remember when they used to try to explain things to me about the trials, I’d panic because I would be so scared.
“I wouldn’t even process what they were telling me because I would be so worked up.”
