EastEnders to air royal theme tune to mark Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ will commemorate Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s cameo in the soap by ending Thursday night’s (02.06.22) episode with a new take on the iconic theme tune.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will make a special appearance in the BBC One soap later this week as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, and Simon May – who composed the show’s original theme – has composed a new Jubilee-themed tune that will play out as the Albert Square residents celebrate the royal visit and make a toast to Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign.
Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, said: “To have Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall not only visit us all in Walford, but to also appear in an episode, we felt it was only right that we marked this extremely momentous episode with a fitting tribute and what better way than to wish Their Royal Highnesses on their way from Albert Square than with a special Jubilee version of our iconic theme tune, remastered by the very talented Simon May.”
‘EastEnders’ has been known to end the show with other variations of the original theme on special occasions.
The soap has featured ‘Julia’s Theme’ – named after ‘EastEnders’ co-creator Julia Smith – alongside the end credits more than 70 times.
It was first heard in April 1985 when Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) cries into the arms of his grandmother Lou (Anna Wing) after a heart-to-heart, because his father Pete (Peter Dean) didn’t want him to become a chef.
The theme has also been used for more hard-hitting storylines, such as in February 1993 when Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richard) and Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement) had a heart-to-heart after Pat ran over and killed a girl, and more recently in March when Keegan Butcher-Baker (Zack Morris) and Tiffany Butcher-Baker (Maisie Smith) left Walford together for Germany after reuniting.
The soap also aired ‘Peggy’s Theme’, a different variation of ‘Julia’s Theme’, which featured in Dame Barbara Windsor’s farewell episode as Peggy Mitchell in September 2010.
It also aired in May 2016, as Peggy’s son Phil Mitchell read a letter from the character following her death, and in July 2016 after her funeral. Barbara passed away in December 2020 aged 83.

Jane Fonda and Diane Keaton reuniting for Book Club 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen are reuniting for ‘Book Club 2 – the Next Chapter’.
Production has started on the sequel to the 2018 comedy film ‘Book Club’, which follows a group of friends whose lives change after they read the erotic novel ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ at their monthly book club.
Andy Garcia, Don Johnson and Craig T. Nelson are returning for the movie alongside newcomers Giancarlo Giannini, Hugh Quarshie and Vincent Riotta.
The original flick received mixed reviews from critics but the performance of the cast was praised and it proved to be a box office success.
The film has been written by Bill Holderman and Erin Simms, with the former returning to direct. The pair will also serve as producers on the movie.
The sequel sees the four best friends take the book club to Italy for a fun girls’ trip. When things go awry and secrets are revealed, the relaxing holiday becomes a cross-country adventure.
Jane previously suggested that she was unsure about returning to the big screen as she felt TV provided better opportunities for older stars.
The 84-year-old actress said: “I was one of those movie people who, for a long time, was snobbish about TV.
“Aaron Sorkin offered me this ongoing role in ‘The Newsroom’ and I realised, ‘This is my future.’ I’m old.
“Television is more forgiving for older women, and so I said, ‘OK, I’m going to start paying attention.’
“So I started watching TV and now I don’t know if I’m going to go back into movie theatres. I just love television.”

Rachel Zegler cast in Hunger Games prequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Zegler has been cast as Lucy Gray Baird in ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’.
The adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ novel is set to hit cinemas across the world in November 2023 and is a prequel to the four movies that starred Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
Francis Lawrence, who directed three of the previous ‘Hunger Games’ movies, is returning behind the camera with producer Nina Jacobson and her partner Brad Simpson also back for the dystopian sci-fi movie.
Zegler has been cast as Lucy Gray – the girl tribute from the impoverished District 12.
Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement: “When you read Suzanne’s book, Lucy Gray’s emotional intelligence, physical agility, and fiercely powerful, determined singing voice through. Rachel embodies all of those skills – she is the perfect choice for our Lucy Gray.”
Rachel, 21, played Maria in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of ‘West Side Story’ and has also been tapped to play the lead role in the new live-action take on ‘Snow White’.
Jacobson previously suggested that Lucy Gray is very different to Katniss from the original movies.
She said: “Lucy’s a character who is much more aware of the power of her femininity.
“Katniss is much more quiet, a woman of few words. (So) Lucy as a performer is a very different kind of character. Katniss is very survival-orientated. She hunts for her family, she goes into the games because she promises her sister that she’ll be back.
“Katniss knows exactly what she feels and what she values and Lucy is more mysterious and is playing in her own way to the crowd. Lucy is a fun, very different character to bring to the screen.”

Miles Teller feared death during Top Gun: Maverick filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Miles Teller feared he was going to die during the making of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The 35-year-old actor stars in the new blockbuster as Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw and revealed how he feared the worst while filming in an F-18 Hornet jet.
In an interview with LADbible, Miles said: “I definitely had a moment where I thought I was going to die.
“There was a sequence where we were heading straight towards the ground and you do what’s called a max G pull-up. You’re heading down and at the last second you yank up, and it’s really tough for the pilot.
“It’s something they train in all the time, but it was the first time we’d done a manoeuvre like that and I completely stopped acting. I looked at the ground, and thought this wasn’t going to end well for me.”
Despite his near-death experience, Miles revealed that he managed to avoid vomiting while taking part in the flying sequences that had been set up by Tom Cruise.
The ‘Bleed for This’ star said: “I think when there’s that much adrenaline and a healthy bit of fear, I was able to hold it down. I guess that’s a secret skill I have.”
Cruise is famous for doing his own stunts on his action movies but Teller doesn’t want to go to the extreme levels of his co-star.
He said: “I think the reason why Tom does this stuff is because when the audience knows that it’s really you and there’s no cutaways, the level of immersion you get as a viewer, as a voyeur, is elevated.
“So I’m open to it, but also, I’ve got injured on some films doing some weird things, and when you have a perfectly good stunt guy, I don’t want to put him out of a job, you know? That’s just me being an honest guy.”

Matt Lapinskas doesn’t care about getting trolled over Hollyoaks debut

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hollyoaks’ newcomer Matt Lapinskas doesn’t care about getting trolled over his debut on the show.
The 33-year-old actor, who’s best known for portraying Anthony Moon in BBC soap ‘EastEnders’ from 2011 to 2012, is to appear on the Channel 4 soap as new villain Alex next week.
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ star is used to being in the public eye, so he isn’t bothered about comments on social media from potential online trolls.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column as saying: “When you do well in life, some people want to put you down. But I’ve got no time for any bad comments. In this day and age with social media, everyone is a critic.
“When you’re on a platform like TV, you will get comments that are good and bad.
“For me it’s about ignoring haters and embracing the love. My Instagram is about promoting positivity and staying mentally strong.”
The only critic that truly counts for Matt is his mum.
He added: “As long as mum likes it, that’s all that matters to me.”
Matt has joined the cast of ‘Hollyoaks’ in Majorca as part of a special storyline featuring Gary Lucy and Stephanie Waring, who play Luke Morgan and Cindy Cunningham.
A source previously told Metro: “’Hollyoaks’ is jetting off again after a hiatus due to COVID-19 and their getaway looks like it will be just as chaotic and dramatic as ever.
“Luke has planned this impulsively but with his declining health, Cindy in particular is worried that it is not a good idea.
“Luke is seeing this as a way to enjoy family life; who knows how much time he has left?
“It remains to be seen whether there will be holiday joy or tragedy for the Cunningham family but with a great set of cast members there, the episodes promise to be a real treat for fans.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec, Kate Garraway, Bradley Walsh and Sara Cox are among the nominees for this year’s TRIC (The Television and Radio Industries Club) Awards.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ co-hosts have a nomination in the Entertainment category for their show ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ and they have also been nominated in the TV Personality section.
Ant and Dec will go up against Bradley in both categories because he has an Entertainment nod for his show ‘Bradley Walsh Son: Breaking Dad’ – which will also do battle with ‘Gogglebox’ and ‘The Graham Norton Show’ – and he will face off against the Geordie duo, Piers Morgan, and Rylan Clark in a bid to win the TV Personality gong.
Bradley also has another chance at success on the night as his ITV programme ‘The Chase’ is up for the Game Show accolade, alongside BBC programmes ‘Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel’, ‘Richard Osman’s House of Games’, and ‘Would I Lie To You?’.
What’s more, ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Kate’s documentary ‘Kate Garraway: Finding Derek’ – about her husband Derek Draper’s ongoing battle with the after-effects of coronavirus – has received a nod in the Factual category, and she is also in with a chance of winning the Radio Personality prize.
Smooth Radio host Kate will go up against Sara in the category, and the latter is also nominated for the Radio Programme award thanks to her self-titled show. Roman Kemp also received nods for both categories.
‘Coronation Street’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Emmerdale’, and ‘Holby City’ – which has now been axed – are all nominated for Soap of the Year.
This year’s TRIC Awards will be presented by ‘The One Show’ host Alex Jones at the ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House on July 6th.

Bluey to celebrate Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on CBeebies

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bluey’ will celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
The Australian preschool animated TV series tells the story about a family of cartoon dogs living life in Brisbane, and episode ‘Queens’ will be made available for the first time on free-to-air TV in the UK on Sunday 5 June.
The Jubilee episode will feature sisters Bluey and Bingo as they play a game of Queens but discover playing the butler is actually more fun.
Bluey has become a hit among audiences, winning the hearts of kids and parents around the world, after it first launched in Australia in 2018.
The show has won multiple awards, such as the International Emmy Kids Awards in the prestigious Preschool Category in 2020, and has picked up the AACTA Award for Best Children’s Program for three years running.
Most recently, the much loved show announced it was expanding its licensing programme with new partners.
Alison Downie, Global Licensing and Brand director for HTI Group, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with BBC Studios once again on another hugely popular pre-school show.
“‘Bluey’ will be made very welcome here at HTI Toys and we are excited to develop a range of toys that complement Bluey’s love of play.”
They have also continued to grow its licensing program in EMEA while existing licence Ravensburger has signed a new deal with BBC Studios to cover France, Italy and Nordics.

OHMYGOSSIP — Fred Sirieix’s fiancee will join him on the ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ sofa.
The ‘First Dates’ maitre d’ is “delighted” that he and his “wonderful” partner, who is affectionately known as Fruitcake, will be joining the star-studded edition of the Channel 4 show when it returns on June 10.
The 50-year-old television personality told The Sun newspaper: “I’m delighted to be joining the Celebrity Goggleboxers for this series.
“It’s going to be very surreal being on the show having been critiqued a number of times in the regular series!
“I am looking forward to the public getting to meet the wonderful Fruitcake too.”
Fred has shared snapshots of Fruitcake on his Instagram page.
A TV insider told the publication: “Viewers have really come to know and love Fred, so seeing him with his own sweetheart for the first time will be a real treat for fans.
“He’s included Fruitcake in a few Instagram snaps before but never like this.”
The source also teased that the pair will showcase “some class snacks” while they react to the week’s biggest telly moments.
They added: “Of course, we’re expecting to see some top class snacks on his table too.”
Fred – who has two kids, Andrea and Lucien, with his ex Alex – and Fruitcake are the final additions to the new series’ lineup, which already includes singer Anne-Marie, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ winners Oti Mabuse and Bill Bailey, radio personality Nick Grimshaw and his sister Liv, Rylan Clark and his mum Linda, and Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm and her brother Paul.

David Cronenberg hopes to make a movie with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

OHMYGOSSIP — David Cronenberg wants to make a film with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
The 79-year-old director has worked with Kristen on his new body horror movie ‘Crimes of the Future’ and wants to reunite her with ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert – who has worked with the filmmaker on ‘Cosmopolis’ and ‘Maps to the Stars’.
However, David is aware that the project could be “problematic” given the previous romance between Robert and Kristen.
The director told World of Reel: “It was Robert who actually introduced me to Kristen. They have developed beautifully, separately, as actors. Making arthouse movies and successfully carrying that off.
“Kristen and I had a great time and Rob and I had a great time. For me, yeah, I can definitely think of a movie, or idea, that would be great to have them both together.”
David – whose film credits include ‘Shivers’ and ‘The Fly’ – added: “I don’t want to get into it because it wouldn’t be my next movie, however, it might be problematic since fans might expect a certain kind of relationship and that would get in the way of creating new characters for them.
“So, I have a strange feeling that might be problematic, so it’s only theoretical for now.”
‘Crimes of the Future’ prompted walkouts at the recent Cannes Film Festival with audiences not able to cope with the gory nature of the flick but Kristen is unconcerned by the controversy.
The ‘Spencer’ actress said: “Everyone loves to talk about how (Cronenberg’s) movies are difficult to watch and it’s fun to talk about people walking out of Cannes screenings.”
Kristen continued: “Every single gaping, weird bruise in his movies, it makes my mouth open. You wanna lean in toward it. And it never repulses me ever. The way I feel, it is through really visceral desire and that’s the only reason we’re alive. We’re pleasure sacks.”

Abigail Breslin, Luke Wilson, Andy Garcia, and Donald Sutherland to star in Miranda’s Victim

OHMYGOSSIP — Abigail Breslin, Luke Wilson, Andy Garcia, and Donald Sutherland will co-star in ‘Miranda’s Victim’.
The upcoming movie is based on the true-life case of Trish Weir – who was kidnapped and raped in 1963 by Ernesto Miranda – and will follow her fight for justice against her attacker, along with detailing how the case transformed the legal system in America with the introduction of the Miranda rights.
Weir’s attorney, Lawrence Turoff, will be played by Wilson with Garcia as Alvin Moore, the case’s public defender and Sutherland as Judge Wren, presiding over the case, Deadline reports.
Michelle Danner will direct the movie, which has been written by J. Craig Stiles and George Kolber.
Danner and Kolber are also producing alongside Valerie Debler, Brian Drillinger and Alexandra Guarnieri.
Danner said: “The first time I read George Kolber’s riveting script and learned about Trish’s experience, it moved and inspired me. ‘Miranda’s Victim’ puts us at the intersection between a brutal rape case and and a national movement for civil liberties.”
A synopsis for the movie reads: “In 1963, 18-year-old Patricia Weir is kidnapped and brutally raped. Committed to putting her attacker, Ernesto Miranda, in prison, Patty’s life is destroyed by America’s legal system as she triggers a law that transforms the Nation.”

Jon Hamm: Top Gun: Maverick was a dream come true

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Hamm says filming ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ with Tom Cruise was a “pinch-me moment”.
The 51-year-old actor stars as Cyclone in the long-awaited action sequel and says it was a dream come true to be part of a movie with such a “profound history”.
Speaking on ‘Smallzy’s Surgery’, he said: “To be able to work on a film like this that has such a profound history and to be able to work on it and work with Tom and [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer and everyone else that is involved with the making of this movie, was a bucket list dream come true kind of pinch-me moment, for sure.”
Unlike his co-stars, Jon was glad he didn’t have to do any of the flying stunts.
Glen Powell recently revealed he did “a lot of puking” while filming the flick.
The 33-year-old actor – who portrays pilot Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin in the film – and his co-stars underwent three months of training ahead of shooting in order to grow accustomed to g-force, but only lead actor Tom Cruise managed to stay unaffected while up in the sky.
He said: “There was a lot of puke during filming.
“Before shooting, Tom sent us on three months of training to get used to the g-force.
“(But) even with training, nothing prepares you for the intensity of flying in an F-18.
“We were all flying once a day and Tom was up there three times every day.
“But it didn’t faze him at all.
“There we are, all being sick into bags, and he is taking everything in his stride.
“The guy is a machine.”
Tom, who reprised his role as Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the movie, confirmed he had developed a training scheme for his co-stars to help them learn how to fly the Boeing F/A-18 Superhornet jets.
The ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor said: “I developed a programme for the actors, and how we could get them in the (F/A-18s).
“It was every step of the way. I had to teach them how to fly. I had to teach them how to handle gs. I had to get them confident in the aeroplane.”

Stacey Solomon says benefits saved her life

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Solomon says benefits “saved [her] life” when she became a mother at 17.
The 32-year-old TV presenter gave birth to her first child, Zachary, in 2008, and explained that receiving a Sure Start Grant, which provides mothers with financial aid to help with a new baby, was a huge help to her as she struggled financially.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’, she said: “I was given a Sure Start Grant, which is what it was called at the time, and I can’t tell you how much that saved my life.
“My working tax credits saved our lives, we could not have got by without those.
“The milk tokens that we used to get, to help us buy SMA and milk and stuff from the shops that we couldn’t afford.”
However, Stacey slammed the government for “abolishing” many of the initiatives that helped her.
She said: “All of that got abolished, some of my friends who are in similar circumstances now, don’t even have those opportunities. They’re completely taken away from people.”
Stacey previously admitted she considered an abortion when she first got pregnant, but could not go through with it.
She said: “I could have had an abortion. We went to the clinic to see what my options were. It was definitely something I considered, because I thought my life would be over. That sounds awful and I feel guilty about it every day because Zach’s incredible, but it is what it is. I wouldn’t judge anyone for going through with it. It was just something I couldn’t do.”

James Wan has a ‘drawer full’ of leftover ideas for future projects

OHMYGOSSIP — James Wan has a “drawer full of ideas” waiting to be turned something.
The co-creator of horror franchises ‘Saw’ and ‘Insidious’ previously revealed that the ‘Aquaman’ sequel will pay homage to his love of horror, although he will save the big scares for horror-tinged spin-off ‘The Trench’.
And the screenwriter has admitted that he has a pool of leftover ideas from every movie he makes that could potentially be used in another project.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, he said: “Listen, I feel like everything I come up with, everything I do, if I come up with something that I don’t end up using, that doesn’t mean that I cannot be inspired to use that in a different way. That’s my problem, is I come up with a lot of ideas and I have so many ideas just percolating, but obviously, I can’t use all of them. So I would say of all the different thoughts and ideas I’ve come up with, I end up using maybe 20-30% of them in my work, and so I do have a drawer full of ideas that could develop into something else.”
Wan – who is currently promoting his crime-thriller, ‘Malignant’ – insists he always has “other stories to tell”, it’s just a matter of whether or not they feel the audience wants it.
He explained: “If they want more stories, then I have more stories to pull into it. That’s my approach, even all the way back to my first film with ‘Saw’, I do know the bigger world, like [writer] Leigh [Whannell] and I knew the bigger world, and if we were fortunate enough to tell other stories, we have stories ready to tell.”
He added: “Same with ‘Insidious’, same with ‘The Conjuring’. In the case of ‘The Conjuring’, it’s a more obvious one, right? Because the Warrens, it’s based on these real-life people who have investigated many cases, and so that’s a more obvious one to pull from. But the same with the ‘Aquaman’ world, as well. I create this world, and then within that, you can tell many different stories within the universe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Merchant thinks he and Ricky Gervais may have “had our moment as the unit”.
The 47-year-old star previously co-wrote ‘The Office’ with Gervais, 60, but admitted he is unsure if they have a place together in modern pop culture.
He explained to Metro.co.uk: “I think it’s interesting, isn’t it? I mean, I don’t know what two middle aged white blokes like us are gonna come up with that people want to see now? I don’t know whether we had our moment as the unit.
“I don’t know. I think maybe we’d end up as kind of grumpy old men characters. That would be that seems like the best fitted thing, two miserable blokes whinging about the world seems like the best fit for us as we get older. I’d happily do another project, it’s just finding the right thing.”
Meanwhile, Stephen revealed he would love to return for a third season of ‘The Outlaws’.
He said: “We’ve talked about the third series, and we’ve started thinking about stories for it with the writers. We just have to wait for the money people to sign off on that. All the ideas are in place for where we can go next.
“One of the things that was most pleasing about the first series going out, particularly in terms of social media, was the way that the feedback I got was people that warmed to the characters, even characters who they perhaps wouldn’t necessarily like if they met them in real life, and they were still rooting for them or empathetic towards them.
“That’s the most you can hope for in a way, that people engage with the characters. To have accumulated this cast, not only of good actors, but of characters that you enjoy writing for, to be able to bring them back and keep on throwing rocks at them as it were, turning that frog heat up, it’s pleasurable, because it’s hard to create a world from scratch and populate it and all the rest of it.”

Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn to be acquired by Amazon

OHMYGOSSIP — Emerald Fennell’s ‘Saltburn’ is set to be acquired by Amazon.
The 36-year-old Oscar winner’s latest film, starring Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike, is set to be bought by Amazon in a deal at Cannes for worldwide rights, Deadline reports.
Fennell will also produce the movie alongside LuckyChap Entertainment’s Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie.
Little is known about the movie, except that it is about an aristocratic English family and will be a “story of obsession”.
Filming on the project is due to start later this year.
The filmmaker won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for ‘Promising Young Woman’ and was also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture.
Fennell previously collaborated with LuckyChap on ‘Promising Young Women’ and praised the production company for taking a chance on it.
She said: “It was the first [feature script] that I’d the opportunity to write, because LuckyChap bought it when they did. What was amazing, both psychologically and financially, was that I was able to really set the time aside to do it. And in terms of the idea, the films I love are very unusual. I like thrillers. I like twisty-turnies. Story-driven, character-driven, but also entertaining. I really wanted to make a female revenge movie about what it would like if a woman actually did want to take revenge.”

Camilla Thurlow gives birth to a baby girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Camilla Thurlow has given birth to a baby girl.
The former ‘Love Island’ star has taken to social media to announce the arrival of her second child with Jamie Jewitt, revealing that she gave birth to baby Nora on Friday (27.05.22).
In an Instagram post that features video clips and photographs, Camilla said: “Our beautiful early bird Nora Belle Jewitt. Born 27th May 2022, a sister for our gorgeous little Nell Sophia.”
Camilla – whose first child was born in October 2020 – posted a photo of herself alongside her newborn daughter, while in a video clip, the siblings are seen meeting each other for the first time.
Camilla and Jamie met on ‘Love Island’ in 2017 and they tied the knot last year.
In December, the loved-up couple took to Instagram to announce their pregnancy, saying they “couldn’t be more grateful” to be expecting a sibling for their daughter.
In a joint Instagram post, the celebrity duo wrote: “We had an early gift this year and we couldn’t be more grateful… 3 soon to be 4, June 2022 (sic)”
The post was accompanied by a video, sound-tracked by The Drifters’ ‘White Christmas’ which began with Jamie and his daughter cutting out gingerbread shapes.
Camilla then wrote their names and year of birth on individual gingerbread people, which they then hung on their Christmas tree.
The fourth figure was marked with a question mark and the words “June 2022”. However, Camilla has now confirmed to her 1.5 million Instagram followers that Nora arrived prematurely, describing her baby girl as an “early bird”.
