OHMYGOSSIP — ‘From the Oasthouse: The Alan Partridge Podcast’ is returning for a second series.
The iconic comedy character will return to the airwaves in September with a new 11-part series on Audible.
Alan said: “When it comes to podcasting I was a late adopter. I believed – like millions of others – that the future of broadcasting lay in hologram technology. Over a decade later and with Peartree Holograms now dissolved, I can see that I backed the wrong horse, just as I had with Betamax.
“Now, I have thrown my all into podcasting and am pleased to be considered one of finest podcasters of all time. My new series will cement that legacy.”
Alan – who is played by comedian Steve Coogan – is set to discuss his career successes and failures, as well as intimate details of his personal life, in the upcoming series.
And Alan previously explained how his podcast differs from alternative shows.
The comedy character – who has also appeared in TV shows, a movie and written books – shared: “Format is the death of chat.
“Podcasts are strangled by format – talk about your favourite meal, tell us about the adverts you enjoy, tell us about the last time you cried, watch ‘Doctor Who’ with me. Mine is different. I just yank back the curtain, drop the facade, peel back the warm hood of celebrity and reveal the real me, the raw me, the true me. A be-cardiganed, cuppa-tea-swigging, pair-of-slippers kind of Alan.”
The broadcaster also admitted at the time that he wanted to record a second series.
Alan said: “I’m just waiting to hear from Audible as they’ve yet to say they definitely want a second series. I’m not worried. It’s just that they said they’d call and thus far they haven’t. It’s fine. They’ve not not called. They’ve just not called.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Coronation Street’ actor Chris Fountain has opened up about his battle with depression after being axed from the soap.
The 34-year-old actor played Tommy Duckworth in the ITV show until he was sacked back in 2013 after a video of him rapping about rape was leaked online, and he has said his actions, which he is “ashamed” of, have left him with “bleak” career prospects.
Speaking on ‘Mancs on the Mic’ podcast, he told his former ‘Corrie’ co-star Ryan Thomas: “I’ve been in some very dark, horrible places, to the point where I realised I needed to start changing the way that I was thinking – otherwise I might not have been here.
“My life, my job, my image, my reputation – everything was just ripped away. Within 24 hours. I didn’t leave my house for four days.
“I’d never been this discombobulated before. I was meant to go on ‘This Morning’ and then that got cancelled because they didn’t want me on there. After a while, I was like, ‘I think I’m going through depression here.’ ”
Despite being offered a few acting roles, such as in 2018 show ‘Girlfriends’ and some regional plays, Chris admits his future as an actor looks tough.
He added: “As much as I like to say everything’s alright and everything’s cool, work-wise at the moment, it’s bleak.
“Am I not getting jobs because of that [the scandal], or am I not getting jobs because I’m not as good an actor as I once thought I was? I don’t know if I’ll ever find that answer.”
But the former ‘Hollyoaks’ star remains hopeful that someday he’ll make a comeback.
He added: “I’ve been really upset and really angry and really frustrated, but now, I kind of just don’t give a f*** anymore. I can’t do anything else. Just because that happened, I can’t just go, ‘Right, I need to stop being an actor now’. I’ve been an actor since I was 10 years old.”

OHMYGOSSIP — New crime thriller ‘Six Four’ has been commissioned by ITV.
The four-part drama – which is inspired by the best-selling novel of the same name by Hideo Yokoyama – will star ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Kevin McKidd and ‘Boiling Point’ star Vinette Robinson.
Kevin said: “I never take for granted the privilege of being an actor and the chance to become characters like Chris O’Neill, a hard-working serving police officer, whose teenage daughter has gone missing in ‘Six Four’.
“Greg Burke’s scripts are real page-turners, as he keeps you guessing with every plot twist and turn. I’m delighted to be returning to my native Scotland and to be partnering Vinette Robinson as my on-screen wife, Michelle, and to be working with House Productions and ITV on what promises to be a compelling thriller.”
The cast of ‘Six Four’ also includes Richard Coyle, James Cosmo, Alex Ferns, Iona Anderson, Andrew O’Neill and Nilani Chetty.
George Burke is thrilled to be working with House Productions, ITV and BBC Studios on the new series.
He added: “At its heart, ‘Six Four’ is a human story about two people under incredible amounts of pressure, who both choose to try and address their pasts. It is a story about how chance can define a lifetime, exploring the corruption that runs through institutions, and examining the secrets and monsters that lurk in every family.”
Polly Hill, ITV’s Head of Drama, can’t wait for the show – which recently commenced filming in Scotland – to air in 2023.
Polly said: “‘Six Four’ excitingly brings Kevin McKidd back to Scotland to lead this wonderful cast. Greg Burke’s scripts are brilliant – a compelling police investigation and the heart-breaking personal story of a runaway child.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Willis thinks ‘Big Brother’ needs “more of a rest” before the show returns.
The 46-year-old TV presenter hosted the Channel 4 reality TV show from 2013 until it ended in 2018, and following speculation ITV2 are looking to bring the show back in 2023, Emma believes it “needs longer” off air and says when it does come back there should be a new star at the helm.
When it was suggested by former ‘Big Brother’ star Alison Hammond that the programme needs a refresh and to come back looking “completely different”, Emma replied: “I agree. I think new era, new host.
“I miss it so much. But I do think it needs longer. It needs a bit more of a rest.”
Quizzed on what she misses most about it, she said: “How real it was. If you go back to day dot when it first started and how it just took all of us by storm it was just phenomenal.
“If it could do that again and if it went back to that it would be amazing.”
Emma is to co-host a new ‘Cooking with the Stars’ series alongside Tom Allen next month, and she has tried to put in a good word for herself with contestant Anton Du Beke, who is a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, about appearing on the BBC Latin and ballroom show one day.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she added: “I did tell him how much I love ‘Strictly’ and how it’s been my dream to do it. He went, ‘Come on then, let’s see if you’ve got what you’ve got.’
“We had a quick spin around the kitchen. I’ve always wanted to do it [‘Strictly’].”
Asked why she’s not done it before, she replied: “Because it’s that time of year when we do ‘The Voice’ and it’s really busy. You’ve got to commit, and that’s the thing, you either go hard or go home. It has to be full commitment across the board.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Cara Delevingne is “so jealous” of Laura Whitmore hosting ‘Love Island’.
The 29-year-old model is a huge fan of the ITV2 dating show, and she has previously confessed to the 37-year-old TV presenter that she is envious of her job.
Laura said: “Cara Delevingne is a huge fan and she’s messaged me a lot about it. She was on a film set one day and messaged me a picture of where she was saying, ‘I’m so jealous of what you’re doing.’ I was like, ‘I’m so jealous of what you’re doing!’ She said, ‘No, no, no, what you’re doing is a million times cooler!’ ”
Laura also revealed US comedian and actress Amy Schumer is a big fan of ‘Love Island’.
She said: “On my radio show I was interviewing Amy Schumer on a video call for a new TV series she had.
“We started talking and I think we got a minute in and Amy turned around and went, ‘I’m really sorry, but are you Laura Whitmore from ‘Love Island’?’ I knew she loved the show but I was trying really hard to be professional.
“We only had six minutes to talk and we just talked about ‘Love Island’. We didn’t talk about her show at all and then the time was up! That was really funny.”
Laura is also regularly quizzed about the show by the general public, who are “obsessed” about what the Islanders eat.
Asked what the most common question she is asked in the street, Laura said: “What I love about ‘Love Island’ is the fan base is such a wide range of people; from grandparents to younger viewers.
“It’s such a wide-range. It’s not just for people the same age as the Islanders. I’m sometimes surprised when people stop me and they are so invested and are asking, ‘What are they really like?’ People are obsessed with what they eat in there as I guess we don’t show a lot of that – as it’s quite boring to watch people eat.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gogglebox’s Baggs family have quit the show after three series.
The Essex family, who are made up of dad Terry, mum Lisa, and sons Joe and George, quickly became a big hit among viewers when they joined the Channel 4 show back in 2020.
However, they’ve quit the programme after just two years due to a busy work schedule, and they have teased upcoming projects.
The family said in a statement: “After 3 incredible seasons on Channel 4’s ‘Gogglebox’ we have taken the decision to leave the show. We have loved every second of being part of the ‘Gogglebox’ family and it’s truly been the opportunity of a lifetime.
“With lots of exciting opportunities approaching for us all, we just couldn’t commit to filming another series, but are so grateful for the opportunity.
“Thank you for all your support whilst we have been on the show. We hope that you’re as excited as we are for what’s coming next!”
Friends and fans were quick to send messages of support after hearing the news.
Co-star Ellie Warner wrote: “All the best to you guys.”
One fan commented: “Nooooooooo!!! One of my faves from the show. I hope you guys leaving means there’s a possibility of your own show coming. (sic)”
The reality show, which films people watching and commenting on TV shows from the comfort of their front room, will be airing a new series later this year.
This comes after it was revealed ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress Joanna Lumley is joining ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Mecklenburgh has given birth to her second child.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star has taken to Instagram on Tuesday (31.05.22) to announce she and fiance Ryan Thomas have welcomed their little girl into the world.
Lucy shared a black and white photo of the baby’s hand on her page, which was captioned with heart emojis, and on her Instagram Story she shared the same picture along with the caption: “She’s here”.
Ryan – who also has two-year-old son Roman with Lucy, and daughter Scarlett, 13, with former partner Tina O’Brien – has yet to share any photos on his own account.
The couple have yet to reveal the name of the baby, but back in February, the pair – who met during filming of ‘The Island With Bear Grylls’ – admitted they had been struggling to agree on a moniker for their tot.
Lucy previously said: “With Roman we named him as soon as we found out we were having a boy. I remember we looked at a list and we both pointed to the same name.
“But this time, we have a list of 15 names. We may just have to wait to meet her.
“Nothing in the world beats that moment when you hold your baby for the first time.”
The 30-year-old fitness guru described motherhood as a “whole new kind of love”.
Lucy said: “You experience this whole new kind of love, and they are your world. Nothing else really matters.”
However, she had a new set of “lonely” circumstances, becoming a mother just weeks before the nation went into lockdown to fight COVID-19.
She said: “Being a new mum can be a very lonely place anyway, and then take away your mum popping in for a cup of coffee or going for a walk with a friend.
To connect to others, Lucy took to social media to find out she was “not alone”.
She shared: “I’d put up Stories at 4am about feeding and I’d get mums messaging me back. It was a way to know you are not alone. That is how motherhood is: we are all in it together.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Derbyshire has hailed the NHS for saving her life.
The 53-year-old TV presenter was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and she’s thanked the health service for keeping her alive after she underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Victoria – who stars in a new documentary series called ‘The Waiting Room’ – explained: “I said yes [to the show] because the NHS really helped me and kept me alive and I wanted to talk about it.”
Victoria subsequently thanked a team of people who helped her to overcome cancer.
She told Metro.co.uk: “I don’t just mean the surgeons, the doctors.
“I mean the chemo nurses, the ancillary staff, the radiographers, the radiologists, the ultrasound people.
“It’s a massive team who treat cancer patients and I hope there’s some appreciation for all of them.”
Victoria used to make and release videos about her cancer battle, and she’s now admitted to being “a bit taken aback” by the response from viewers.
She shared: “I started to get messages from mostly women, who were facing a mastectomy or chemotherapy and they watched my videos and said, ‘I’m having a breast removed next week and I just watched your video and I feel less scared about it’.
“I got messages from relatives of people going through cancer treatment, saying, ‘I understand now a bit more about what my wife is going through’.”
Victoria also noted that cancer creates a “ripple effect”.
The TV presenter – who previously starred in ‘The Real Full Monty: Ladies Night’, to raise awareness of breast cancer – said: “It doesn’t just affect the patient but everybody around them. Kids, partners, sisters, mums, friends.
“It is a profound thing in someone’s life to be diagnosed with cancer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Owen is not “buzzing” about his daughter Gemma going into the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 19-year-old star has admitted that while the former England striker is not over the moon that his offspring is taking part in the ITV2 dating reality show, he handled the news “quite well” and is “very supportive” of everything she does.
Gemma told press: “I still wouldn’t say he was buzzing about the fact. But he’s very supportive with whatever I decide to do.
“He didn’t have a massive tantrum or anything like that. It was pretty chilled. He sort of trusts me not to do anything and not to embarrass him or anything like that. So I guess he took it quite well.”
Gemma says it’s useful having a famous parent to go to for advice if she struggles with the spotlight.
Asked if her retired soccer ace dad, 42, has given her any tips on fame, she added: ”I wouldn’t say he’s given me any advice. He’s given me a few tips. But I think it’s just one of the things you need to sort of experience for yourself and learn as you go through when you make the mistakes.
“It’s definitely quite handy to have someone that’s experienced it before to to get advice from if things are not going too well.”
Gemma has also warned potential suitors it will take “a while” for her “guard to come down”.
The brunette beauty admits she is “fiery” and “quite protective”, but she doesn’t “fall in love quickly”.
Asked how her family and friends would describe her, she said: “I think they would say I’m very honest and a bit stubborn, straight up and a bit fiery. I can be quite protective.
“When you get to know me, I’m quite fun but it just takes a while for that guard to come down.
“They would say that I can take the mick out of myself quite easily!”
The international dressage rider and business owner has also vowed to be “very competitive” on ‘Love Island’, but insists when it comes to relationships she is not planning to “mess up something for someone” for the sake of television if they are in a “proper” romance.
When asked how competitive she is, Gemma said: “Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player.
“I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old. I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions.
“I would say I’m very competitive. [When it comes to relationships] I will always go for what I want. But at the same
time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection.
“I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Frankie Essex has given birth to twins.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star – who is the sister of former co-star Joey Essex – has welcomed a boy and a girl into the world with her partner Luke Love.
She told OK!: “Double the love. Our baby bears have arrived”
In February, the 34-year-old reality star – who has been in a relationship with Luke for three years – revealed she was pregnant with twins, and admitted it was a huge “shock”.
She said at the time: “I was just so shocked. How we found out was really lovely.
“The lady scanning me was focusing on one baby and was then like, ‘What else do we have here then?’ and I was so shocked and asked, ‘Are we having twins?’ I burst out crying, tears of happiness. It was just so beautiful. It was lovely.
“We had an early scan as we were so excited. There are no twins in the family and we conceived naturally. They’re not identical.
“It was such a shock, but it’s a blessing and we are so over the moon. It’s amazing. As soon as we told the family, I asked if twins run on either side and as far as we all know, they don’t.”
In March, Frankie revealed she expecting a boy and a girl following a gender reveal party.
Her brother Joey shared clips from the celebration on his Instagram Story.
In one, Frankie was joined by her cousin Chloe Sims and she then took to the mic to thank her guests for coming and urged them to go into the garden to watch some fireworks to find out whether she was expecting boys, girls, or “one of each”.
She said: “Everyone come outside and celebrate with us. We are so excited.”
Joey then shared a video of blue and pink fireworks exploding in the sky, before panning the camera over to Frankie, who celebrated by kissing Luke.
He captioned his post: “A proud brother about to become an uncle, congratulations to my sister and Luke. Boy and girl.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Devine died of pneumonia after a fall, a coroner has concluded.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor – best known for playing Shadrach Dingle in the ITV soap between 2000 and 2010 – passed away in January, and it has now been concluded that the star, whose real first name was Peter, died of “hospital-acquired pneumonia” and it was an “accident”.
Sefton Senior Coroner Julie Goulding said Andy was on the floor for about an hour after he had “lost his balance resulting in a fall”, and he was “unable to get up until his carers arrived”.
She said: “Peter had a significant number of serious underlying clinical co-morbidities and, not withstanding all appropriate care and treatment, [his] condition deteriorated culminating in his death.”
Andy served in the Royal Navy during the 1960s before turning his hand to acting.
He also featured in several episodes of ‘Doctor Who’, Channel 4 series ‘Queer as Folk’, and he had a small part in ‘Coronation Street’ in 1995.
Emmerdale’s Shadrach was a popular character during a decade on the Dales before he passed away in an emotional alcohol abuse storyline in 2010.
Former ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ star Daniel Jillings tweeted: “Such sad news! Often thought about Andy, he was my first drama teacher and a great one. A character both on and off screen.”
Ex-‘Emmerdale’ star Liam O’Brien tweeted: “Heartbroken to hear of the passing of an old friend. Even sadder that he passed in January and never knew. I was by the sea now when heard the news and Andy Devine was a sailor through and through. Gods rest ye pal. Second star to the right. Straight on ‘til morning.”
