OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Gascoigne and David Seaman are to make a TV show about fishing.
The former England teammates are hoping to follow in the footsteps of comics Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer – whose BBC2 series ‘Gone Fishing’ was a surprise hit – and are planning to record a pilot for a programme following them as they take part in their beloved hobby.
However, 58-year-old former Arsenal goalkeeper David admitted they are unlikely to catch many fish on the show thanks to his 55-year-old pal’s love of joking around.
He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I have been speaking to his agent about a TV pilot. Gazza enjoys his fishing even though his line spends more time out of the water than in it – because if he doesn’t get a fish in a minute, he changes his fly.
“He has these issues but underneath he has a heart of gold and hopefully he will be on the straight and narrow when we work together…
“It will be hilarious because he is a handful when he is fishing, trust me. I’m not sure how much fishing will get done. It will probably involve him taking the mickey out of me and me pushing him in the water.”
The former ‘Dancing On Ice’ contestant thinks the pastime is a great way to deal with mental health problems and he is keen to shine a spotlight on just how “therapeutic” the hobby can be.
He said: “Nothing beats fishing and I’d like more attention given to how therapeutic it is.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Paige Thorne will “100 per cent” be returning to work as a paramedic once ‘Love Island’ is over.
The 24-year-old beauty was forced to quit her job if she wanted to spend the summer in the famous villa in Mallorca but she came to “an agreement” with her bosses, who are open to the idea of her returning to her post once her time on the show comes to an end.
Speaking ahead of the show’s launch, she said: “I tried lots of ways to stay employed but because of how the NHS is structured, it wasn’t possible, so I came to an agreement with work where I resign and have time off for now and when I come out I go back into talks on going back into work.
“One hundred per cent I’ll be going back to being a paramedic. It sounds cliche and disgusting, and I hate myself for it, but it’s who I am. I’m a people person, I love the elderly, and I couldn’t think of not doing that as my career.”
Paige kept her casting a secret from her work partner and her brothers, and she admitted her dad wasn’t very happy when she first told him about the show.
She said: “My dad had reservations at first. He’s not watched the show and he doesn’t really know what it’s about, but he’s come round.
“Not that he would just sit there and watch it anyway, I don’t think he would, but he won’t want to hear about anything too mischievous that I’ve been up to.
“I’ll try and be on my best behaviour. I’ll just make sure I stay the little princess he thinks that I am.”
Paige filmed her audition video while drunk and admitted sending it in was done “on a whim”.
She said: “I was literally lying in bed and did the video the night before, my little audition thing, but I didn’t send it because I was thought it was so cringey and it wasn’t going to get me anywhere – it’s so embarrassing!
“But then I woke up still a bit drunk after the night before and I thought I’ll just send it and see what happens. I just did it on a whim.”
Paige decided to apply after finding her options for love limited in her hometown of Swansea.
She said: “Basically Swansea is so small everyone just knows each other and is in each other’s business – it’s just not the vibe.
“The boys there just aren’t a vibe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Owen hopes ‘Love Island’ will set her on her path to becoming a billionaire like Kylie Jenner.
The 19-year-old dressage competitor plans to showcase her own OG Beachwear line when she’s in the villa and wants her time on the reality show to help boost her career in order to follow in the footsteps of her idols, the Kardashian family.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I would love to carry on with my business which I have just set up. It’s called OG Beachwear. I will be wearing a few bits in the villa, it’s a small collection at the moment.
“I really like the Kardashians, I watch them on telly and I follow them on social media.
“I think they are all good, powerful business women, what they have made for themselves is really inspiring, I’m a massive fan. Who wouldn’t like to be a billionaire like Kylie?”
Gemma – whose father is former football star Michael Owen – has been approached a number of times to take part in the dating show but turned them down because the timing wasn’t right for her riding career.
However, after a disappointing start to the season, she decided to embrace the challenge.
She said: “The summer months are the most important months for my dressage, so the thought of leaving that for two months was not an option and riding takes my priority.
“But my season didn’t get off to a great start this year, so I thought this season will be the best.”
Gemma’s dad recently admitted having his daughter sign up for ‘Love Island’ was “probably a father’s worst nightmare” but insisted he and his wife Louise would be supporting the teenager.
He said: “I have no doubts that she will make us all proud. It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do you’ve got to be supportive. I think old, grumpy men like me will always have an opinion on it because I don’t watch it and you just hear the snippets. But she assures me it’s not as bad as I think.
“So, we’ll give it a watch and I hope she enjoys herself.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Axel Blake has won ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The comedian claimed the coveted crown after seeing off competition from the likes of Tom Ball and Jamie Leahy.
After being named the winner, Axel – who impressed the judges and the audience at home with his faultless comedy routines – said: “I am shaking. It means the world to me. There are not even words to explain – I can’t believe it!”
Simon Cowell described Axel as a “star” and the comedian is now looking forward to appearing at the Royal Variety Performance.
Simon, 62 – who created the ITV show – said: “I feel really emotional for you right now. It’s not just how brilliant you are, it’s how much I like you and how everyone likes you. I believe we have found a star.”
David Walliams also loved Axel’s routine, and described him as a “superstar”.
He said: “That was a winning performance in every way. You are a superstar.”
Ventriloquist Jamie Leahey was named the runner-up, and his routine earned a standing ovation from the audience and reduced Amanda Holden to tears.
David was also wowed by his efforts, even though he fell just short of winning the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ crown.
The comedy star – who sat on the judging panel alongside Amanda, Simon and Alesha Dixon – said: “It was faultless in every way.”
Jamie, 13, told hosts Ant and Dec: “It’s amazing! I’d like to say thanks for all the support.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Danielle Harold was left in tears after discovering she’s being “written off”, say sources.
The 29-year-old soap star – who has played Lola Pearce on and off since 2011 in the BBC One drama – was left “in pieces” after finding out that she is going to be a victim of the huge plans to overhaul the show by the new boss Chris Clenshaw to spice up the show.
An insider told the Sun newspaper: “Dan was in pieces. The cull came out of the blue.
“She was not expecting the chop because her character has been a firm favourite with viewers. She’ll be written out with no option to return.”
Danielle is believed to have entered into contract negotiations but was told of the big shakeup coming to Albert Square, which is rumored to involve others “being shown the door”.
The source continued: “Danielle was teary but was told a number of the cast were being shown the door.
“No-one else has been given their marching orders yet however.
According to the source, the whole cast “are rallying around” Danielle, who first appeared in Walford as the granddaughter of Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).
They said: “The rest of the cast are rallying around her.”
However, Danielle – whose storylines have included having her daughter Lexi via a teenage pregnancy with Max Bowden’s Ben Mitchell and helping Stevie Basaula’s Isaac Baptiste live with his schizophrenia – is taking the development “like a true pro”.
They said: “She handled the news like a true pro and is eager to throw herself into the storyline.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Iain Stirling has joked that he’ll be “naked in a cabin” recording his voiceovers for ‘Love Island’.
The ITV2 dating show is set to return on Monday night (06.06.22) and the narrator admitted there is no chance of him appearing on-screen alongside his wife Laura Whitmore, the show’s host, because he’s much happier not having to get dressed up to deliver his lines.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he said: “It’s not my gig, man.
“I’m happy being in the darkness and the ether. I’m just in the vibes, I don’t need to be in the front. Laura is very good at that, she does all that. It makes my life easier because I don’t have to do hair and make-up and stuff.
“I don’t have to put clothes on. I’m just naked in a cabin. Lockdown vibes. I’m basically going into another lockdown.”
One of this year’s contestants is retired football ace Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma, whose father has provided the writers with many a pun.
The funnyman added: “Me and Mark [Busk-Cowley] who write it, we have 100 million per cent been sending jokes back and forth to each other that involve the footballer Michael Owen.”
The former English striker called it “every father’s worst nightmare” when he broke his silence on the 19-year-old swimwear business owner entering the villa.
He told ITV News: “I have no doubts that she will make us all proud.
“It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do you’ve got to be supportive.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Boateng was “pleasantly surprised” at the amount of condoms lying around in the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The former footballer and policeman who appeared on the ITV2 dating show bac in 2020 recently became the face of Magnum’s large size condom range, which launched in the UK towards the end of May.
When asked whether he was surprised by how many condoms were lying around in the house, the Love Islander said: “I was pleasantly surprised! But the reality of being in a space with beautiful women was, ‘I understand’.
Mike – who finished fifth in the 2020 winter series alongside then partner Priscilla Anyabu – also explained that he has no regrets going on and urges the new contestants of the show – which starts today (06.05.22) at 9pm on ITV2 – to “be themselves”.
He told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “Be yourself. The worst thing you can do is go in there and get caught up in the moment and it becomes like acting. I’ve seen people regret becoming a different person. People appreciate authenticity.”
Since leaving the villa, Boateng, whose main reason for going on the show was to pursue a career in acting, has teased upcoming projects whilst hoping to make it in modelling.
He added: “It is happening and it’s happening big as well. I’m fully immersed in acting school and I’m loving it.
“I’ve started modelling professionally. Photographic, but we are looking to branch into runway modelling as well so hopefully September you’ll see me out there on the runway hitting them with all of the looks, all the feels.”
The 26-year-old reality star, who split from his partner and ‘Love Island’ co-star a year ago, confirmed he was currently still single and not a fan of dating sites.
Mike said: “I’ve been dating sporadically where I can but I am single.
“I’m not actually on any dating websites, so you definitely can’t find me there. If you do it’s a fake account. Sorry to break any hearts. I just find myself in natural spaces – if I go to a bar and see a cute girl, I might approach her.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson refuses to hug or kiss contestants on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’.
The former ‘Top Gear’ star took over hosting the popular quiz show from Chris Tarrant, but he has a rule against personal contact and won’t even offer an embrace if the contender wins the £1 million jackpot.
In his column for The Times, Jeremy explained: “I don’t really like hugging other men. There’s always a sense that my genitals are perilously close to theirs, and I really, really don’t like it when they move in for a kiss, which sometimes happens as well.”
He went on to insist it’s not just same-sex hugs he avoids, adding: “I don’t even like hugging women especially. It’s too intimate and there’s always a danger that they’re going to report you to the police. Especially if you’ve only just met them in a park.
“And then there’s the nightmare of the kiss on each cheek. It sounds so easy but you’d be amazed how often I get it wrong.
“Some women think this should be an air kiss and tilt their heads way over to the side, but I always take this to mean they didn’t even want the gesture of a kiss, which makes me all stammery and nervous when we start talking.
“Then you have those who swivel their heads too far round, so you end up kissing an ear, which is so unnerving I usually raise my head too quickly and knock their hat off.
“And then you get the ones who turn their heads too slowly, so you get the first kiss in the right place but land the second on their lips. Which sends out entirely the wrong message.”
The TV star went on to conclude that no one will get a hug from him on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ – even if they win big and he even warns them in advance not to try for a celebratory embrace.
He concluded: “This is why, when I host ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ I always say to the contestants beforehand that even if they win big I will not be embracing or kissing them.
“They’re going to get a handshake and that’ll be that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Merchant guest-starred on a new podcast based on his show ‘The Outlaws.’
The 47-year-old actor created, wrote, and starred in the BBC comedy series about a group of seven misfits doing community service in Bristol – which launched its second series on Sunday (05.06.22) – and teamed up with hosts Suzi Ruffle and Geoff Norcott as part of new companion podcast ‘Inside…The Outlaws.’
Stephen said: “For my new series of The Outlaws, BBC Sounds decided that the intricately brilliant, complicated plots and sophisticated jokes needed to be decoded by two expert comedians, in the form of Suzi Ruffle and Geoff Norcott.”
The brand new podcast will launch on BBC Sounds and will offer listeners an extra insight into the show, with interviews, episode analysis, and behind-the-scenes gossip.
Each new episode of ‘Inside…The Outlaws’ will be available weekly after the show has finished airing on BBC One and is set to feature other stars of the show later in the series, including the likes of Gamba Cole, Charles Babalola, and Jessica Gunning, who will detail their experiences shooting the comedy.
In a statement, Suzi Ruffell and Geoff Norcott said: “Join us ‘Outlaws’ super-fans to go through all the plot twists, character analysis, and all things you might have missed, on our new podcast Inside… The Outlaws. Each week we’ll be getting together with members of the cast, including Stephen Merchant, after each episode of ‘The Outlaws’ – only on BBC Sounds.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins has quit her BBC podcast because they “can’t afford her.”
The 41-year-old reality star had fronted ‘The Gemma Collins Podcast’ – as well as dating advice spinoff ‘Love Lounge’ – on BBC Sounds since 2019 but has now reportedly left the BBC in favour of a much more lucrative commercial deal.
A source said: “She has quit the BBC because she managed to negotiate an amazing deal to take her podcast elsewhere. Gemma is getting paid a figure that the BBC just couldn’t afford and will be getting far more editorial control.”
The insider went on to explain that while the former ‘TOWIE’ star – who is said to be receiving a salary worth five times what she was being paid originally – still “loves” the BBC and is grateful towards them, the new deal will help with career progression and teased that the podcast will be even more “outrageous” when it returns later this year.
The source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Gemma loves the BBC and knows they helped get her podcast to where she is now. But this move will help keep her career moving. She wants to be even more outrageous when the podcast
returns later in the year.”
During its three-year run on BBC Sounds, ‘The Gemma Collins Podcast’ pulled in the largest audience amongst the under 35s on the platform, and listeners tuned in to hear the ‘Diva Forever’ star’s gossip from her weekly antics but also heard her open up about tougher subjects, such as her struggle to conceive a baby with fiance Rami Hawash.
Speaking on the podcast in October 2021, Gemma said: “I really want a baby now. I’ve not been using any contraception. I can’t get pregnant so I’m gonna have to be brave now and look into this myself.”
Gemma also interacted regularly with her fans, dishing out advice on a weekly basis during the ‘Ask Gemma’ segment, and explored a range of topics such as gardening, aliens, and animal welfare with field experts.
