OHMYGOSSIP — Doctor Who’s TARDIS is getting a wheelchair ramp.
The BBC sci-fi series – which will see Ncuti Gatwa take over from Jodie Whittaker as the titular Time Lord in 2023 – will reportedly feature a wheelchair-accessible ramp on the iconic time machine to accommodate upcoming cast members.
A source said: “These modifications aren’t just a sign of changing times, they’re also down to some of the characters who’ll feature on the show. Returning to the cast for the specials – which are set to air next year with David Tennant alongside Catherine Tate – will be wheelchair user Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott.”
The insider went on to tease that ‘Years and Years’ star Ruth Madeley – who uses a wheelchair – could also be joining the cast for the upcoming series.
The source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “And there are rumours that disabled actress Ruth Madeley could also be joining the cast in the new shows after Jodie Whittaker has quit as the doctor.”
Over the course of its 60-year history, the police box – which is known for being far bigger on the inside – has undergone several changes, and while it started off in a totally flat state, it currently includes a hexagonal set of steps that lead to an entrance.
‘Sex Education’ star Ncuti – who will become the first black person to assume the Doctor role – previously described his casting as a “true honour” and promised fans he would “try to do [his] best” in the part.
Speaking after the casting announcement, the actor said: “It feels really amazing. It’s a true honour. This role is an institution and it’s so iconic. I feel very grateful to have had the baton handed over and I’m going to try to do my best.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s contestants are facing another recoupling drama with the boys getting to choose.
The twist could be bad news for Andrew Le Page, 27, as new entrant Charlie Radnedge, 28, looks poised to steal 23-yaer-old dancer Tasha Ghouri.
Friday night’s (24.06.22) episode is set to be packed with couples’ switches after new arrival Charlie took Tasha and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, 27, on dates.
Speaking with Andrew in the latest instalment, Tasha says about Charlie: “I went in with a complete open-mind to see what happens. It was a good date. He’s a good-looking guy.”
Andrew says: “I’m not surprised he picked you. You’re a very good-looking girl. You’re obviously super nice and amazing.”
The estate agent also appears disappointed by Tasha’s admission the date went well.
As the recoupling looms, Andrew says to Jay Younger, 28, and 26-year-old Antigoni Buxton: “I know what’s happening tonight” – suggesting Charlie is going to recouple with Tasha.
Meanwhile, when Tasha is speaking to Charlie on the sun deck, he says: “I wanted to see where your head’s at, really. I enjoyed the date today, it was good fun. We got on pretty well. If I were to pick you, would you be open to seeing what would happen or are you closed off to it?”
Tasha and Andrew aren’t the only couple who could be in danger, after Ekin-Su and Jay’s argument during Thursday night’s episode.
After explaining he was interested in getting to know Paige Thorne, 24, Jay left Ekin-Su fuming – with the actress accusing him of “using” her.
Fans are speculating after a preview aired of Friday’s show whether Jay will stick with fiery Ekin-Su or take a chance and steal Paige from current partner, 23-year-old Jacques O’Neill.
Currently, Gemma Owen, 19, is in a friendship couple with Davide Sanclimenti, 27, after Danica Taylor, 21, picked 23-year-old fishmonger Luca Bish.
But they could end up swapping partners after Davide, 27, and Danica were seen sharing a kiss on Thursday night.
‘Love Island’ airs on 9pm weekdays and Sundays on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC’s Harry Gration has died unexpectedly aged 71.
His wife and former colleagues said they were “absolutely heartbroken” by the passing of the veteran ‘Look North’ host and football pundit.
Helen Gration confirmed his death on Friday night (24.06.22) by writing: “He will forever be with us. Our three boys and I loved Harry totally.
“We had an awful lot of fun with him and our home was his life.”
BBC Yorkshire tweeted: “Our much loved friend and colleague Harry Gration died suddenly today. (24.06.22)
“We are absolutely heartbroken to give you this news. Tonight our hearts go out to Harry’s wife Helen, their children and all of Harry’s family and friends.”
BBC director-general Tim Davie paid his respects by saying Gration will be remembered for being an “outstanding broadcaster and commentator”.
Davie added: “He had a real connection with the public who saw him as one of their own. Loved everywhere, but especially in Yorkshire, he will be hugely missed by his many fans and friends. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
Bradford-born Gration started out filming match reports for the BBC while working as a history teacher in the mid-1970s.
He went on to report on the BBC’s ‘Match of the Day’, ‘Grandstand’ and commented on a string of Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
He joined ‘Look North’ in 1982, and stood down from the role in 2020 a day before his 70th birthday, and after being awarded an MBE in 2019.
Gration also won two Royal Television Society awards for sports documentaries and twice picked up the RTS Best Presenter award.
He declared his motivation for going into journalism was he “always lived the story”.
Gration said he was “always affected” by horrific events such as the death of politician Jo Cox, the Bradford riots and Hillsborough disaster.
His 42-year career also saw him raised £1 million for various charities and he said about being given an MBE it was “an overwhelming honour… something I never thought would happen to me”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Laverne is mourning the loss of her mother Celia.
The BBC Radio 6 Music DJ has paid a touching tribute to her parent, who passed away on Friday (24.06.22), and will no longer be covering Glastonbury for the BBC following the “heartbreaking” loss.
The 44-year-old presenter began a lengthy Instagram post: “Yesterday I lost my Mam, Celia. She was the kindest, most compassionate and most tenacious person I have ever met. Born in the middle of nine kids, she was a master peacemaker and persuader.
“She passed her 11+ and went to grammar school which changed our family’s direction forever. Met my Dad at 16 and loved him every day of her life. She ran the only reggae club night in the NE and told me that being young in the 60s felt like that line in Mr Tambourine Man “to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free”.
She worked as a seamstress and a casino dancer (also making costumes for the troupe) to pay her way through college and became a wonderful teacher, eventually managing all Sunderland’s colleges.”
Lauren revealed her mother was looking forward to see Sir Paul McCartney – who she nicknamed Paulie – headline the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm on Saturday night (25.06.22), as a lifelong fan who met the 80-year-old former Beatle with her broadcaster daughter.
She added: “We are all utterly heartbroken to lose her. She had just given the kids their Glastonbury spending money and was looking forward to watching Paulie (as he was always known in our house – her favourite Beatle) tonight.
She’d been a fan ever since she saw him at the Sunderland Empire in 1963 (and later met him later with me – he was just lovely to her). Mam, I love you forever. Thank you for my fantastic life. I have no idea what I’m going to do without you, but I’m going to try to make it interesting and you will be in my heart, always XXX.”
BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders stepped in to host yesterday’s (24.06.22) coverage with BBC radio veteran Jo Whiley in the place of Lauren.

OHMYGOSSIP — Martine McCutcheon felt like she was “losing my mind” before starting “game-changer” Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
The former ‘EastEnders’ star – who shot to fame playing Tiffany Mitchell on BBC One soap ‘EastEnders’ between 1995 to 1998, before going on to play Hugh Grant’s love interest in the 2003 rom-com classic ‘Love Actually’ – has opened up about going through the change and thanked Davina McCall and Dr. Naomi Potter for guiding other women going through menopause.
In a post on her Instagram Story, she wrote: “It’s been quite a game changer for me, there’s still some adjustments and tweaks to make.
“I’ve been really so lucky to be guided by the force of nature that is Davina [McCall] and Naomi Potter is a godsend to women going through this time.
“When we are all losing our minds this lady is calm, collected and so wise about the whole situation.”
Martine also revealed she is preparing to make her acting comeback.
She added: “I’m doing a movie, playing the very small part of an ex-ballerina, with John Cleese in Budapest in Hungary this year. I am starting to look at other things too.”
Martine has suffered from a number of health conditions over the years, including Lyme disease, depression and Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME), and previously admitted she appreciates “the simpler things in life” after years of battling illnesses.
The 46-year-old actress also no longer worries too much about her career, as she’s busy focusing on getting the most out of life.
She said: “After you’ve been through what I’ve been through you learn to appreciate everything. You start to appreciate the simpler things in life … and then the career comes second. I get offers to do TV shows and films, but often they are things that aren’t special enough or it’s something I don’t think I can bring anything to.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Gogglebox’ star Tom Malone Jr. has been diagnosed with autism at the age of 28.
The reality star – who shot to fame on the Channel 4 show alongside his family – is grateful to finally have an explanation after years of feeling “a bit different”.
He posted to Instagram: “I don’t normally do very personal posts like this but I thought this one was important. I’ve always felt a bit different, a bit socially awkward and like I just don’t process things in the same way as everybody else. Finally I have an explanation. I’ve recently been diagnosed as autistic. Something that both makes sense to me whilst at the same time is something completely new to learn about and understand more about why I am the way I am. Now begins the journey. This one goes out to all the kids that have ever felt misunderstood due to being a little bit different #AutismAwareness.”
Tom and his family – including mum and dad Tom and Julie and brother Shaun – first appeared on ‘Gogglebox’ in 2014, but in February 2021, he announced he was departing the show to pursue other projects.
Tom Jr. said at the time: “So after 6 and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote, and to say goodbye to Gogglebox.
“I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to @channel4 and @studiolambert for allowing me to be a part of the show.
“But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.
“I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid.
“PS. Don’t worry my family @themalonesgb and @shaunmalone95 will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday.

OHMYGOSSIP — Steph McGovern says nothing can embarrass her after getting her “muff out on the telly”.
The ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ host had a smear test live on her daytime television show and has nearly flashed her boobs during years of doing live television, and she admits there’s nothing that fazes her about her job.
In an interview with the Huff Post, she said: “I’ve literally got my muff out on the telly so once you’ve done that I don’t think there is anything that can be really embarrassing.
“Because I’ve always done live telly, there’s been loads of things over the years.”
The 40-year-old presenter used to present the business segment on ‘BBC Breakfast’ before bagging her own programme, and almost gave viewers more than they bargained for when was discussing a serious topic.
She recalled: “When I was on ‘BBC Breakfast’ my dress once split down the whole back of it and we had to do a camera angle where someone could gaffer tape it to stop it from totally exposing me.
“I was talking about really serious stuff as well like the economy and I’m nearly flashing me boobs. But anything that happens on ‘Packed Lunch’ I can normally just have a laugh about it.”
Meanwhile, Steph once had to reveal her pregnancy after “projectile vomiting” in the studio.
The telly star – who gave birth to her first daughter with her partner in November 2019 – was working on ‘BBC Breakfast’ at the time, and her morning sickness meant she broke the news earlier than expected before hitting 12 weeks.
Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on the ‘Happy Mum Happy Baby’ podcast, she said: “I remember once and I couldn’t tell anyone I was pregnant because we’re not meant to are we, because then we jinx it apparently, whatever.
“And I was throwing up, the only thing I could get into my body that morning was watermelon and I literally projectile vomited watermelon across the studio, moments before we were about to start the 6 o’clock news headlines…
“You could see my co-host was looking at me going, ‘Are you hungover?’ and I was just like … I was trying not to whisper, aware I was wearing a mic connecting me to all the gang in the gallery.
“But everyone thinks I’m hungover or I have a bug and if you think you’ve got a bug, everyone avoids you and says go home. So I, like, ended up saying, then I suddenly felt guilty, felt like I was going to miscarry.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Ryan kept her pregnancy secret because she was terrified of losing work.
The 38-year-old comedian was eight months pregnant when she fronted ITV dating show ‘Ready To Mingle’ but admitted people just thought she was “really fat” as she was concerned producers would hire someone else for the job because of the cost of insuring her if they knew she was expecting.
She admitted: “During my pregnancy I wasn’t telling anyone.
“You can’t get insured on any production if you are pregnant.
“Sometimes, if you are important enough, they go the extra mile. You see Holly Willoughby pregnant and that’s because she’s worth it.
“I tried to keep it secret. People just thought I was really fat for ages. I had to keep it quiet. I still needed to work to feed my family.
“I had been off for the whole pandemic. I walked on to set for ‘Ready To Mingle’ eight months pregnant.
“If you go on the BBC’s insurance site it says it doesn’t insure for any matters of the womb. If your vagina falls off on set, that’s it.
“You don’t want to let down a production if you have some complication of pregnancy.
“Let’s say you are on a sitcom and the whole day gets cancelled — you won’t be insured.
“If you had an eye infection and they couldn’t film you, that day would be insured and everyone would get paid and go home.
“It is so weird, so I just lied.”
Katherine – who has 12-year-old Violet from a previous relationship and 12-month-old Fred with partner Bobby Kootstra – also gained weight after taking steroids in an attempt to minimise her risk of another miscarriage, and she found criticism of her size “fascinating” because people got “really nasty” in a way they never had before.
She told Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s podcast, ‘Parenting Hell’: “I have had some experience of pregnancy loss, so I did lots of research into avoiding that. There is a thing where you take steroids and then an intravenous thing every four weeks, and it calms your immune system.
“But what steroids also do is turn you into an absolute sumo wrestler.
“I gained, like, three stone in three months, basically on my face. And I got so big. Because I talk about Botox and filler, the whole of the internet was like, ‘Katherine has really done it this time, she has f***ed up her face’.
“I just had to sit there with this fat Madonna face and be like, ‘Yeah’.
“But it didn’t bother me. I had been called lots of things. Facelift, too much filler or fat, it didn’t bother me though, I just thought it was fascinating, eye-opening.
“When people say things about my appearance it doesn’t bother me.
“But I’d never experienced being called fat.
“It is interesting to me  because I only took a tourism trip into being fat.
“People are really mean about other people being fat. They are really nasty.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X Factor’ is set to return to TV.
Simon Cowell has decided “the time is right” to bring back the talent competition – which ended in 2018 after 15 series – and is hoping to get it back on screen next year after striking a deal with a production company to make the show.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “It has been decided that the time is right to bring X Factor back. It’s really exciting. Everyone who will be working on the new series can’t wait to get started.”
Although the programme originally aired on ITV, the 62-year-old music mogul is set to meet with different TV stations over the next few months to discuss broadcast deals.
The insider added: “Things are in the early stages at the moment. But the wheels are definitely in motion. It is hoped that production will begin at the end of the year.”
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge plans to strip ‘The X Factor’ back to basics in the hope of trying to “recapture the magic” when it first aired.
The source explained: “Producers want to recapture the magic the show had when it was first on TV.
“The focus will all be on the competition element of the show, rather than the razzle dazzle.”
Alexandra Burke, who won the fifth season of the show in 2008, recently called for the return of the show.
She said: “I don’t think it’s had its day.
“As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. With ‘X Factor’, it created so many opportunities and platforms for people – including myself – but you never know, it could come back.
“It would be amazing if it did.
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder so in a few years’ time the people may want it back and Simon’s just gonna have to give in and get it back to its original format.”
