Lauren Goodger lit her late baby’s candle as she celebrated daughter Larose’s birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger was thinking of her late baby as she celebrated her daughter Larose’s first birthady.
The ‘TOWIE’ star – who was left heartbreakon when Lorena tragically died just two days after her birth on July 8 – was feeling “very emotional” as she marked Larose’s special day.
She wrote on Instagram: “Just wrapped @babylarosex’s presents and my Lorena was with me in my heart the whole time with her candle lit.
“Very emotional evening for mummy. But can’t wait to see my big girl in the morning.”
On Wednesday (20.07.22), Lauren and her partner Charles Drury took their daughter yesterday to a farm where she got to play with the animals.
Meanwhile, a source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Thank God Lauren has had Larose to give her the sense of purpose she needs to carry on through such unimaginable pain.
“The birthday celebrations were kept intimate for the closest members of their grieving family.
“They are also planning a bigger party where they will welcome friends and other children over to celebrate Larose’s birthday, which Lauren started planning while she was still pregnant with Lorena.”
A devastated Lauren made the announcement of her daughter’s tragic passing on July 10.
Her post read: “Words can’t describe as a mother losing your baby that I carried for all these months perfectly and gave birth to for my angel to be taken from me.
“There was no pregnancy or labour complications and she was fine and healthy, but I am not going into detail right now just know that there was nothing wrong with her or myself she was perfect I can’t understand it.
“I will never ever get over this, but I will learn how to live every day with Lorena in my heart.”
Charles added: “Your little heart will forever beat inside mine, I’ll love you until the end of time.”

Downton Abbey boss Julian Fellowes was surprised Dame Maggie Smith accepted the job

OHMYGOSSIP — Julian Fellowes was “quite surprised” Dame Maggie Smith agreed to star in ‘Downton Abbey’.
The 87-year-old actress played Lady Violet Crawley in the hit period drama from 2010 to 2015 – and its two feature film sequels – and won three Primetime Emmys, a Golden Globe and four Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performances.
Before the show became a cultural phenomenon, show creator Julian was shocked the acting legend agreed to star in the drama.
Appearing in Channel 5’s upcoming documentary ‘The Marvellous Maggie Smith’, he said: “Looking back I was really quite surprised. I don’t know if I should say that, but it was going to be reasonably populist television.
“It was quite a big decision to do it. Actually we were very, very keen that she should, because we knew that she would be good at the part.
“But it would also give the show a smell of a certain kind of quality.”
Many stars will come together to pay tribute to the ‘Harry Potter’ star in the documentary, which is set to air on Saturday (23.07.22) at 9pm.
The 90-minute programme will celebrate the life and career of the Oscar, Tony and Emmy award-winning star, and her journey to becoming one of Britain’s best loved actors.
Born in 1934 in Ilford, Maggie was a small town girl who made it to the heights of Broadway and Hollywood and enjoyed an extensive career that’s spanned for over 70 years.
Her determination and talent – after staring in countless films and stage plays – earned Maggie her CBE and Damehood.
Alongside Julian, ‘The Marvellous Maggie Smith’ also features interviews with other showbiz figures including Tom Read Wilson, Miriam Margolyes, Nina Wadia, James King, Michael Coveney, Samantha Bond, Jeremy Swift, Bonnie Greer, Gyles Brandreth, Simon Callow and Mark Lawson.

New BBC documentary exploring the death and disappearance of Gaia Pope

OHMYGOSSIP — BBC3 has reportedly commissioned a new crime documentary about the death and disappearance of Gaia Pope.
The 19-year-old girl was found dead in November 2017 – 11 days after she went missing in Swanage, Dorset – and her body was discovered in undergrowth near clifftops after a major search operation was underway.
A post-mortem conducted on the corpse revealed she died of hypothermia, while an inquest concluded there were massive failings in the police force leading up to her disappearance.
The jury at Dorset’s Coroner’s Court came to a unanimous decision that failure to provide Gaia with proper follow up care after she was discharged from hospital weeks before her disappearance was a contributing factor to her death.
Miss Pope suffered a mental health crisis and was diagnosed with post traumatic-stress after she was drugged and raped by a man at 16, which was not pursued properly when reported to the police.
Close relatives believe that if she had initially been “treated with kindness and dignity” she would still be alive today.
Gaia was sectioned in hospital in February 2017 after developing psychosis. She was further assessed in October before being discharged without support.
The jury heard how on the day of Miss Pope’s disappearance she suffered a bout of anxiety after she was told her rapist was being released from jail.
As friends and family are appealing for justice, BBC are hoping the documentary will be an important part of the campaign.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “The police have since apologised for their failings, but the work goes on and a documentary will help throw a spotlight on these holes in British policing that must be plugged.
“This is kind of informative, campaign work is what the Beeb does best.”
They added: “It’s a sad, sad tale but one that needs telling.
“Gaia’s story epitomises all that is wrong with the British policing and cuts to the heart of why public confidence in it has never been so low.
“Like Zara McDermott’s hit documentaries, the one-off feature about Gaia and her family’s campaign for truth and justice should really make a mark on viewers.”
The documentary is being made by the same team who worked on Zara McDermott’s ‘Revenge Porn’ and James Arthurs’ ‘Out of Our Minds’, and will be broadcast later this year.

Simon Pegg hits out at ‘toxic’ Star Wars fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Pegg has claimed that ‘Star Wars’ has a “toxic” fanbase.
The 52-year-old actor featured in the film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and believes that the sci-fi franchise has the hardest fans to please – with cast members including Kelly Marie Tran and Moses Ingram being victims of online harassment from toxic fans.
Simon – who has also made appearances in ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Doctor Who’ – told SiriusXM: “To be honest – and as someone who kind of was, you know, kicked off about the prequels when they came out, the ‘Star Wars’ fanbase really seems to be the most kind of toxic at the moment. I’m probably being very controversial to say that.”
The ‘Shaun of the Dead’ star admitted that he was once a “toxic” ‘Star Wars’ fan as he spoke out against Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best when the prequel movie ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace’ was released.
Simon said: “I’ve apologised for the things I said about, you know, Jar Jar Binks.
“Because, of course, there was a f****** actor involved. He was getting a lot of flack and… it was a human being. And because it got a lot of hate, he suffered, you know, and I feel terrible about being part of that.”
Pegg played Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott in the ‘Star Trek’ reboot film series and finds fans of the franchise to be “very inclusive”.
He said: “I find the ‘Star Trek’ fans have always been very, very inclusive, you know, ‘Star Trek’s’ about diversity. It has been since 1966, it always was.
“There’s no sort of like, ‘Oh, you’re suddenly being woke’. No, ‘Star Trek’ was woke from the beginning you know? This is massively progressive.
“‘Star Wars’ suddenly there’s a little bit more diversity and everyone’s kicking off about it. And it’s really sad.”

Steven Soderbergh: Magic Mike’s Last Dance is inspired by stage production

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Soderbergh has revealed that ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ is inspired by the stage show.
The 59-year-old director is returning to helm the third film in the ‘Magic Mike’ franchise – billed as the final movie for Channing Tatum’s stripper Mike Lane – and explained that the theatre show has influenced the flick.
Speaking to Variety, Steven said: “The movie is sort of a fictionalised procedural on how Mike comes up with the idea of a show – and then the obstacles, of which there are many, to trying to realise his vision of what this new thing could be.
“It’s a variation of ‘All That Jazz’.”
‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ is set to premiere on the streaming service HBO Max but Steven suggested that it could still have a run in the cinema.
The ‘Traffic’ director said: “We’re talking about it.
“It’s certainly hard to argue that this isn’t a movie that’s best seen in a theatre, because we have the data. People, primarily women, were going in packs, in large groups, to see the ‘Magic Mike’ movies.”
Steven revealed that ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ is likely to be the final film in the series but suggested that spin-offs could be developed with characters other than Mike Lane.
He explained: “I think there are other things to be done within what I consider now to be a larger ‘Magic Mike’ universe.
“There are stories that can be told that have the same sort of ethos and are tackling the same subjects that still involve dance but don’t have Mike Lane in them.”
The film’s production hit a rocky patch when Thandiwe Newton was replaced by Salma Hayek after shooting began but Steven says the actress has been a capable member of the cast.
Soderbergh said: “I hadn’t seen Salma in 22 years after she did a little bit part in ‘Traffic’.
“She just brings so much to the table. Anybody that spent any amount of time with Salma will see that there is so much of Salma in this movie.”

Jade Goody’s eldest son Bobby Brazier lands EastEnders role

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Goody’s eldest son Bobby Brazier has landed a role in EastEnders.
The 19-year-old model and actor – son of TV presenter Jeff Brazier, 43, and Jade, who died of cervical cancer in 2009 aged 27 – is already filming scenes that will be shown on the BBC1 soap this autumn.
He is playing Freddie Slater, the son of Little Mo Slater, last seen in Walford in 2006.
Using his Instagram page to announce the role on Thursday night (21.07.22), he said: “I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect. “Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped.
“Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.”
Chris Clenshaw, EastEnders’ executive producer, added: “Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul.
“A modern-day lad who’s in touch with his spiritual side. He’s philosophical, accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.
“Bobby is an amazing young addition to the EastEnders cast who brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater and I can’t wait for audiences to get to know him.”
Bobby is the eldest child of Jade’s relationship with Jeff.
They had another boy, Freddie, in 2004, and split up shortly after the birth.
Bobby’s mum was propelled to fame 20 years ago when she appeared on the third series of Channel 4’s Big Brother.
Her name was dogged by a 2007 race row after she made remarks deemed discriminatory to her Indian housemate, actress Shilpa Shetty, 47, on spin-off show Celebrity Big Brother – including branding her “Shilpa Poppadom”.
Jade, who used her dying days to raise as much money as possible to secure the future of her family and raised awareness of the life-saving potential of early cancer checks, went on to marry her next boyfriend, Jack Tweed, 35, in February 2009, a month before her death.

My Policeman to premiere at TIFF

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘My Policeman’ will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
The romantic drama – starring Harry Styles, David Dawson and Emma Corrin – will get a theatrical release from October 21, before it is available globally on Amazon Prime Video from November 4, but it will premiere first at TIFF in September.
‘My Policeman’ has been directed by Michael Grandage and written by Ron Nyswaner, and is based on the book of the same name from Bethan Roberts.
Set in 1950s Brighton, it tells the story of Tom (Styles), a gay policeman who marries a school teacher named Marion (Corrin) while being in a relationship with Patrick (Dawson), a museum curator.
It also flashes forward to the 1990s, where Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee) and Patrick (Rupert Everett) are still reeling with regret over the past, but have one last chance to repair the damage.
Meanwhile, Harry, 28, previously warned that ‘My Policeman’ and his other upcoming movie ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ are “not family friendly”.
He said: “I don’t know if you can watch either with your parents! I’m going to have to do another one!”
Asked if it is true there are some “pretty saucy scenes” in both movies, he confirmed: “Yes.”
Harry – who appears opposite Florence Pugh in ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ and Emma and David in ‘My Policeman’ – also revealed he felt “very lucky” to have built a “trusting” relationship with his co-stars when shooting their sex scenes, so there was no awkwardness.
He said: “I think it depends very much on who you’re working with and what the situation is, all I can say from my own experience is that I was very lucky to have a very trusting relationship within the people we were working with and that kind of came first, so it was all discussed and all of it was very, kind of, ‘OK above the filming, above anything that is happening, it’s the cameras, it’s me and you, we’re doing his together, and we trust each other and if at any point, you know, we can stop whenever’ and all that kind of stuff.
“I’d never done that before on camera – at least I don’t think!”

Coco Lodge left upset by Love Island comments about appearance

OHMYGOSSIP — Coco Lodge says the ‘Love Island’ boys made cruel jibes about her appearance.
The 27-year-old former contestant was left devastated when some of the boys in the villa cruelly compared her to the other girls and labelled her a “four out of 10”.
Speaking on ‘The Murad Merali Podcast’, Coco said: “There was comments made when the filming was off that I was a four out of 10 by some of the boys. I don’t know who said it, Summer heard it.”
Labelling the remarks “sexist”, she said: “Yeah, you’re a four out of 10, Paige is a 12. I think they said it to Paige, I don’t really know.
“These comments were made and I had a really hard time in there as it was. I was crying a lot for the first few days.”
And, Coco admitted remarks from the public were equally hurtful.
She said: “I didn’t expect it… it hurts to see because it’s about your appearance. How I was perceived on the show isn’t my personality, they’ve edited me to look a certain way. But to comment about my appearance is honestly hurtful… They don’t choose the most flattering stuff.”
However, Coco insisted that reality is different to the edited show and said viewers can’t always believe what they see.
She said: “I think being in there, it’s very different to the edited version of the show you see.
“And I think people could take some of the controlling behaviour however, when you’re in there, and you see how someone is like 24/7 I think like that is not the case personally. Everyone gets on really well.”

Selma Blair hopes to make a cameo in Legally Blonde 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Selma Blair hopes to at least make a cameo in ‘Legally Blonde 3’.
The 50-year-old star played Vivian Kensington in the 2001 comedy, and she is hoping to make an appearance in the eagerly-awaited follow-up to 2003’s ‘Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde’.
She told the ‘Shut Up Evan’ podcast: “I’m hoping, hoping that that legacy can continue, because talk about the good things in life. That movie is one of the good things in life. It’s a highlight. I really feel like, ‘Yeah, my obit’s gonna look okay.’ ”
Selma also discussed an alternate ending where Vivian and lead star Reese Witherspoon’s alter ego Elle Woods end up together and said she’d have been so up for that.
Quizzed on whether she recalls being told about the ending, she said : “No, I love that idea! What fun. … I don’t remember that, maybe it was. But I don’t think so. I’m friends with Karen [McCullah] and [Kristen “Kiwi” Smith] that wrote it. And it wasn’t, but I would’ve loved that so much. Let’s go with that. I think it’s so much fun.”
The ‘Cruel Intentions’ star spilled that there was also plans for her character to go blonde.
She continued: “Or maybe there was. There was an ending that Vivian was blonde, and I did [go blonde]. I have the Polaroids, and I looked gorgeous. I looked just like Faye Dunaway in ‘Bonnie and Clyde’. It was gorgeous, the beret was on and the blonde. But no, that ending just wasn’t as strong as what it turned into. So that was scrapped.”
Mindy Kaling is penning the script for the third film with Dan Goor.
The 43-year-old actress-and-writer expressed how she didn’t want to be the one who “messes up” the soon-to-be trilogy starring Reese – who first played the accidental aspiring lawyer in the 2001 original, written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kristen Smith, and again in 2004’s ‘Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde’, written by Kate Kondell – as it’s her version of Marvel’s ‘Avengers’.
She said: “I think of it like Reese’s ‘Avengers’. Elle Woods is like her Captain America, and so you don’t want to be the person that messes up that story, so for me, we are just taking our time because we want it to be really good.”
Jennifer Coolidge, 60, is also set to return as nail technician Paulette Bonafonté Parcelle.

Peter Cushing was ‘pedantic’ and didn’t socialise with cast and crew on 60s Doctor Who films

OHMYGOSSIP — An assistant director on the 1960s ‘Doctor Who’ movies has revealed Peter Cushing was “pedantic” and “kept himself to himself”.
Screen legend Cushing played the lead role in the two films, ’Dr. Who and the Daleks’ and ‘Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D’, which were based on the BBC TV show, however, the Hammer Horror icon’s portrayal of the Time Lord is not considered canon.
Now, Anthony Waye, who worked with Cushing on the sci-fi movies, has opened up about what he was like on set, revealing that the late ‘Star Wars’ actor – who passed away in August 1994 aged 81 – was a total professional but did not socialise with the cast and crew.
Speaking to SFX magazine, Waye said: “He was always on time and knew his words. He was meticulous in where he placed his props and that sort of thing. He was friendly – he would speak with you – but he kept himself to himself. If he’d finished several takes, he’d go back to his room. He was a little pedantic, but that’s how he played the Doctor.”
The two films were released in the mid-1960s – in 1965 and 1966 – overlapping with William Hartnell’s time in the TARDIS as the First Doctor in the TV series from 1963 until 1966.
Waye also spoke about the difficulties of working with Daleks, admitting bringing the alien villains to life was extremely difficult back then – especially for the people inside the pepper pot armour trying to steer the wheels.
He explained: “You always had to have a flat surface for them to travel on. So you had to cheat a little bit, now and again, to get them on different levels. And for the poor people inside, it was enormous work to push them around … I think most of them were dancers, and pretty fit people, but it was pretty hot and sticky in there – especially when we had action sequences.”

Jeff Bridges went ‘absolutely crazy’ making Iron Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Bridges admits that making ‘Iron Man’ drove him “absolutely crazy”.
The 72-year-old actor played villain Obadiah Stane in the 2008 film – which marked the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – but was annoyed when Marvel threw out the script for the project on the first day of shooting.
Jeff told Vanity Fair: “It was Marvel’s first adventure into making movies. It was so lucky to have Jon (Favreau) and (Robert) Downey, because both of them are terrific improvisers, and we spent a couple of weeks working on the script and rehearsing together, because we didn’t like the original script and we thought, ‘Oh yeah, we fixed this, fixed that.'”
‘The Big Lebowski’ star continued: “Then came the first day of shooting, and Marvel kind of threw out our script that we had been working on, said, ‘No, that’s no good. It’s got to be this and that.’
“And so there was a lot of confusion about what our script was, what we were gonna say. We’d spend hours in one of our trailers going over lines and exploring how we were going to do it.”
Jeff was concerned about the issue at first but later changed his mind set to relax and realise that he was working on a big-budget movie with an excellent actor and director.
He said: “It drove me absolutely crazy until I made a slight adjustment in my brain that was, ‘Jeff, just relax. You’re making a $200 million student film. Just relax and have fun.’
“And that kind of did the trick because here I got to play with these two incredible artists and just jam, and that’s what we ended up doing.”

Chris Pine hints at Dungeons and Dragons plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pine has suggested that ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ is inspired by a range of films and TV shows.
The 41-year-old actor will play Elgin in the new fantasy movie – based on the role-playing game of the same name – and explained that it has taken inspiration from a variety of projects.
Chris told Entertainment Tonight at San Diego Comic-Con: “I think it’s ‘Game of Thrones’ meets ‘Princess Bride’, with a little bit of ‘Spinal Tap’.
The ‘Wonder Woman’ star believes that the fantasy film will provide some much-needed escapism for audiences.
He said: “I’m just excited to (be at) Comic-Con – we haven’t had this in a couple years in the COVID of it all. It’s nice to come back and see the fans, and we’re pumped about the movie.
“Obviously, we live in a strange time right now, and this film is all about fun and good times and becoming heroes when you don’t think you can become a hero. It has a really buoyant, joyful, fun energy to it, and it’s not a bad thing in today’s world to share that kind of joy.”
The ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ movie is being directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley and star Michelle Rodriguez says the filmmakers “really care” about portraying the game on the big screen in an accurate manner.
She said: “They really care about that world, and they really care about portraying that world as accurately as possible.
“As far as someone who respects people who respect the game, understand where it comes from and really want to do it justice, you couldn’t have chosen two better directors than John and John.”

Joanna Lumley slips into Absolutely Fabulous’ Patsy for fun

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Lumley sometimes slips into her character Pasty from ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ just for fun.
The 76-year-old actress played the iconic Patsy Stone in the BBC sitcom alongside Jennifer Saunders from 1992 to 2012, a performance which landed her two BAFTA TV Awards, and most recently reprised her alter ego in the 2016 movie adaptation.
Lumley – who is married to conductor Stephen Barlow – simply adores ageing party girl Patsy and on occasions she will pull her hair up and say “hi sweetie” just for her own amusement.
In an interview with Candis magazine, she said: “I adore Patsy!
“She does follow me around … She’s like an avatar on my shoulder. But I’ve been around for so long and have done so many different things that when I meet people they’re as likely to say, ‘Hi, Joanna. What was it like in Mongolia?’ As they are to say, ‘Hi, Patsy.’ But they do adore her, as I do, and sometimes it’s quite nice just to put my hair up… and say, ‘Hi, sweetie.’ So she’s still around.”
Lumley also claims that she improvised a lot of the traits and mannerism that Patsy became famous for as she took what Saunders, 64, wrote on the page and then ran with it.
She added: “She was the most complicated, ridiculous creature – she was gender fluid, she’d had so many organs taken out because she’d abused everything, she’d had a rough childhood, and her best friend was Edina, for heaven’s sake!
“I didn’t base her on anyone – Jennifer Saunders wrote her and the rest came out of my head.”

Former Emmerdale star Danny Miller folds acting firm with nearly £120k debt

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Miller has closed down his acting firm.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star – who was last year’s winner of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ – has seen his Cannon Professional Acting company go into liquidation.
Documents submitted to Companies House reveal the firm – which Danny has an 80 per cent share of – has folded with £117,527 worth of debt.
Of that figure, £36,990 is unpaid VAT, £29,691 is unpaid corporation tax and £1,866 is unpaid PAYE/NIC contributions to the UK government.
The sum also includes £18,449 owned to Barclays bank in a bounce back loan with £29,930 tied up in a bank overdraft.
This comes more than a year after the 31-year-old actor left his role as Aaron Dingle on ITV soap ‘Emmerdale’, a part he had played in two separate stints from 2008 to 2012 and then 2014 to 2021, to head to Gwrych Castle in Wales to compete on the gruelling reality TV show fronted by Ant and Dec.
Danny’s reason for going on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ was to get a big pay day for his family, fiancée, Steph Jones and their baby son Albert, who was conceived with the help of IVF.
He previously said: “I was going to say no to the show because I didn’t think it was the right time.
“Steph was the one who said, ‘You need to do it for us and to set us up’. Without this show, I wouldn’t have been able to leave ‘Emmerdale’ and it’s all good saying that I wanted to go out there and show people who I am and stuff, but financially I’m not going to lie, without her, I wouldn’t have been able to do the show.”
Danny has just landed a lucrative contract to play the lead in pantomime ‘Jack And The Beanstalk’ at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford this coming December. He will star in the production with ‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK’ runner-up Divina De Campo and Billy Pearce among other cast members.
