Paul Gascoigne set for new Channel 4 series Scared of the Dark

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Gascoigne is reportedly set to star in ‘Scared of the Dark’.
The retired England footballer is lined up to take on the upcoming new Channel 4 reality show, which tests celebrities by denying them light for a week while also being tasked with “thought-provoking” challenges.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “This will be a real endurance challenge for Gazza – but that’s the whole point of the show.
“Along with the other celebrities taking part he’ll have to survive in the darkness for seven days in a specially constructed space.
“During that time he’ll also have to complete a series of thought-provoking tasks in order to keep his place in the contest.”
The 55-year-old star is said to have “passed all his assessments” in order to take part in the show.
The source added: “Despite the scale of the challenge, Gazza passed all his assessments with flying colours and filming on the proramme will start shortly.”
He hasn’t appeared on an entertainment show in the UK since appearing on ‘The Weakest Link’ – then hosted by Anne Robinson – in 2009, while he appeared in last year’s season of Italy’s version of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
His kids have also been seen on the small screen, with his daughter Bianca appearing on Italy’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, while her brother Regan won ‘Dancing On Ice’ earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Gazza and his former England teammate David Seaman are looking to make a TV show about fishing.
David recently revealed: “I have been speaking to his agent about a TV pilot.
“Gazza enjoys his fishing even though his line spends more time out of the water than in it – because if he doesn’t get a fish in a minute, he changes his fly.
“He has these issues but underneath he has a heart of gold and hopefully he will be on the straight and narrow when we work together… It will be hilarious because he is a handful when he is fishing, trust me.”

M Night Shyamalan’s Knock At The Cabin is adapted from The Cabin at the End of the World

OHMYGOSSIP — M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Knock At The Cabin’ is an adaptation of ‘The Cabin at the End of the World’.
The iconic filmmaker – known for his work on the likes of ‘Signs’, ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Glass’ – is at the helm of the home invasion thriller, and author Paul Tremblay has finally revealed his book as the source material.
Speaking to CNBC, he said: “I honestly spent a chunk of my 2022 spring quelling internet rumors and putting out Twitter fires connecting the book and movie.
“It reached a point in early June where that became impossible, however, with all the information out there, including the IMDb page.
“I have been doing my part to be respectful of movie marketing desires and certainly wouldn’t dream of spoiling anything.
“Like the majority of adaptations, there will be story changes and differences compared to the book so my readers will still be surprised by the film.”
Shyamalan first signed the option with FilmNation for the movie back in 2017 with a director attached to the project, but things “didn’t work out”.
Tremblay added: “When it didn’t work out with the first director, Night was still interested in producing, which then became him wanting to rewrite the script and direct as well.”
The movie – set to star Dave Bautista, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge and Rupert Grint – is said to have a 1990s thriller feel to it.
The author explained: “The Cabin at the End of the World is itself a reaction to the home invasion film subgenre.
“Most of me is excited and intrigued at the prospect of seeing my story reimagined or refracted on screen.
“But I’d be lying if I said I was egoless about the whole experience. This novel means a great deal to me.”

Peter Dinklage joins The Hunger Games prequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star will play Casca Highbottom, Dean of the Academy, in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ novel, which is a prequel to the four movies that starred Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
A post on the official ‘Hunger Games’ Instagram account reads: “Some lessons shouldn’t be taught. Peter Dinklage has been cast as Casca Highbottom in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – arriving in theaters November 2023.”
Rachel Zegler, who was recently cast in the movie as Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from the impoverished District 12, commented: “[red heart emoji] !!!!”
Tom Blyth will play a young Coriolanus Snow in the motion picture, and Jason Schwartzman will portray Lucky Flickerman.
Francis Lawrence – who directed ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part One’, and ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part Two’, and will helm the new adaptation – said: “Dean Highbottom is one of the most powerful people in Snow’s life.
“As the austere and vindictive face of the games, he sets the rules that will determine every aspect of Coriolanus’ fate. I’m thrilled that Peter will be bringing him to life.”
Last month, it was revealed ‘Euphoria’ actress Hunter Schafer had joined the cast to play Tigris.
A post on the official ‘Hunger Games’ Instagram page read: “All seams unravel. Hunter Schafer has been cast as Tigris in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – arriving in theaters November 2023.”
Zegler commented: “a babe”
Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement: “When you read Suzanne’s book, Lucy Gray’s emotional intelligence, physical agility, and fiercely powerful, determined singing voice through. Rachel embodies all of those skills – she is the perfect choice for our Lucy Gray.”
Lawrence will also produce the film alongside Nina Jacobson and her partner Brad Simpson.

Happy Valley’s 3rd series to pick up ‘7 years on’ from series 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Happy Valley’s third series will pick up “seven years on” from series two.
Sally Wainwright, who created the BBC One drama show, has confirmed filming has wrapped on the third and final season, and she is hopeful the next installment will be “exciting” to watch.
She said: “I think it’s going to be good. I think it’s going to be exciting. We’ve got some very good stories.
“Everyone’s back – all the characters you’d expect to see are back. We’re seven years on.”
Sarah Lancashire will reprise her role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the show, and Sally has told how the decision was made to set the series seven years on to ensure Catherine’s grandson Ryan Cawood (Rhys Connah) was older.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, she added: “The plan was to wait for Ryan to be older so that he can make his own choices about whether he wants to have contact with his dad or not. So it really explores that.”
James Norton will also return for series three, as Catherine’s nemesis, the murderer and sex offender Tommy Lee Royce, who is Ryan’s father.
Siobhan Finneran will also be back, as Catherine’s sister, recovering addict Clare Cartwright, and Con O’Neill will reprise his role as Clare’s recovering alcoholic boyfriend Neil Ackroyd.
George Costigan will return as Nevison Gallagher, and Charlie Murphy will be back as his daughter and Catherine’s police colleague Ann.
They will be joined by returning favourites Derek Riddell as Richard Cawood, Karl Davies as Daniel Cawood, Susan Lynch as Alison Garrs, Rick Warden as Mike Taylor, and Vincent Franklin as Andy Shepherd.
What’s more, Amit Shah, Mark Stanley and Mollie Winnard have joined the cast for the final series.

Mickey Rourke and Vivica A. Fox starring in comedy Not Another Church Movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Mickey Rourke, Vivica A. Fox and Kevin Daniels are to star in the spoof-comedy ‘Not Another Church Movie’.
The trio will be joined in the film by Kyla Pratt, Lamorne Morris, Tisha Campbell and Jasmine Guy.
‘Not Another Church Movie’ is described as an exploration of the fabulous world of Taylor Pherry (Daniels), an ambitious young man given a holy mission by God to tell his family’s stories and inspire his community. He just has one concern – his family and community.
He is also unaware that the devil (Rourke) has plans of his own.
Johnny Mack and James Michael Cummings are directing the movie from the former’s script. Cummings, Jim Cardwell and Paul Saleba are producing the flick – which is slated for release next spring.
Cummings said: “The parody comedy genre is making a huge comeback and ‘Not Another Church Movie’ is stepping up to lead the charge.
“Mack’s interpretation of outlandish comedies pays homage to such well-known movies, including the works of Keenan Ivory Wayans, Robert Townsend and Tyler Perry.”
Meanwhile, Mickey recently took aim at Tom Cruise as he branded the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star “irrelevant” for doing “the same effing part” for decades.
Asked how he felt to see Tom top the box office charts with ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, the 69-year-old star said: “That doesn’t mean s*** to me.
“The guy’s been doing the same effing part for 35 years. I got no respect for that.
“I don’t care about money and power. I care about when I watch Al Pacino’s work and Chris Walken and De Niro’s early work and Richard Harris’s work and Ray Winstone’s work. That’s the kind of actor I want to be like. Monty Clift and Brando back in the day. The kind of guys who tried to stretch as actors.”

Guy Pearce: Jason Donovan and I still call each other Scott and Mike from Neighbours

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Neighbours’ star Guy Pearce says he and co-star Jason Donovan still call each other their characters’ names – decades after leaving the show.
The 54-year-old actor played Mike Young on the Australian soap, a pal of Scott Robinson (Jason Donovan) and Charlene Robinson (Kylie Minogue), from 1986 to 1989.
The show has been on TV for 37 years, but it will come to an end on July 29, and Guy is one of many familiar faces set to return for the special finale, but joked it is “a bit sad” that he and Jason still use their character names for each other.
He told Radio Times magazine: “Jason and I see each other all the time, and we still call each other Scott and Mike, which is a bit sad!
“Whenever I’m in London I’ll see Jason most times and I’ll see Kylie as well if she’s around.
“There are a few others I catch up with when I’m in Melbourne like Stefan (Dennis) and Annie of course, she’s been on (crime drama series) ‘Jack Irish’ with me.”
Guy’s role in ‘Neighbours’ helped launch his acting career, and he went on to star in Hollywood blockbusters ‘LA Confidential’ and ‘Momento’.
The show has also been a launchpad for other Hollywood stars, such as Liam Hemsworth and Margot Robbie.
Guy added: “There are certain moments in your life that are real markers.
“Being cast in ‘Neighbours’, the confidence it gave me and what I learnt being on the show were immeasurable qualities and benefits.
“Of course, there have been other moments when I’ve auditioned for roles and got them, but I can’t ever forget this.
“I always feel super lucky to have got on the show when I did and as we know, it just took off and became huge.”

Emmerdale’s star Jay Kontzle is expecting his third child with wife Mimi

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ star Jay Kontzle is expecting his third child with his wife Mimi.
The 31-year-old actor – who plays Billy Fletcher on the ITV soap – and the 32-year-old artist are adding to their brood with a sibling for their five-year-old daughter KaiBo and four-year-old son Zian.
Jay told OK! magazine: “Mimi called me during my lunch break on set and told me
“I was sitting eating lunch in the sun and all of a sudden I went hot and started dripping with sweat. I was a bit shocked!
“Before that, Mimi had said she wanted to get a pregnancy test and I said, ‘A pregnancy test? That’s a lot of money that, especially with the cost of living going up.’
“Then I was in work and she decided to throw a spanner in the works over lunch!
“It’s a great thing to be going through again. I think it’s just the fact that we got to an age with our other two where they’re old enough and there’s no nappies and bottles, and we got our sleep back.
“I was settled with our two and I didn’t think we’d be having another one – but Mimi already had it planned. She likes to act like she’s not sly but she is!”
Mimi admitted that she had been “winding up” her husband about longing for another little one.
She said: “I’d been winding Jay up for months before, saying I really wanted another child – but his answer was always no.
“So I think that made me want another one more, basically just to be spiteful. But then it kind of backfired and I did end up getting pregnant.”
Mimi confessed she was “shocked” the result was positive, but called it “a nice surprise”.
She added: “We know we’re lucky to be having another child. We’re excited and it’s a blessing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — John Boyega has claimed that the ‘Attack the Block’ sequel is “cooking”.
The 30-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Moses in the sci-fi comedy sequel and revealed that he has been developing ideas with director Joe Cornish with fans told to “expect some news soon”.
Speaking to Deadline at the premiere of horror movie ‘Nope’ on Monday (18.07.22), John said: “We’re in the lab. We’re cooking, we’re cooking. I sat down with Joe Cornish just literally a few weeks ago. So expect some news soon.
“We’re still in development but we’re cooking something real sweet. We’ll have something soon.”
News of an ‘Attack the Block’ sequel was revealed last year as Boyega confirmed that he would be returning to the part in which he made his movie debut in 2011.
The ‘Star Wars’ actor said: “It’s been a decade since ‘Attack the Block’ was released and so much has changed since then.
“I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour.”
Cornish added: “I’m thrilled we’re officially announcing our return to the world of ‘Attack the Block’ on the 10th anniversary of the film’s release.
“I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action.”
The director had previously suggested that a sequel was possible as both he and John had “ideas” about a future film.
Joe said: “We’ve got ideas.
“I met with John a couple of months ago to talk about it. We’ve always had ideas after the first one. But obviously we’ve both been busy doing different things.”

Olivia Attwood’s fiance Bradley Dack calls her wedding ideas ‘disgusting and tacky’

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood’s fiance Bradley Dack says her wedding ideas are “disgusting and tacky”.
The former ‘Love Island’ star would love to elope to Las Vegas with the Blackburn Rovers player, but he is too “traditional” for a Sin City nuptials.
The 31-year-old television personality told OK! magazine: “I would get straight on a plane to Vegas and do it tomorrow, but Brad is quite traditional. He’s like ‘Ew, no, that is disgusting and tacky and we’ll regret it,’ which is probably true.”
Olivia admitted getting hitched to the 28-year-old footballer in Vegas by an Elvis impersonator might not be the best memory to look back on.
She added: “I don’t want to show my kids wedding photos from a Vegas chapel and a burger joint!”
Olivia said her custom gown for the big day is “ready to go” and has been waiting to be worn for years.
She said: “My dress is ready to go. I had it handmade and it’s just been in the wardrobe for two years – I’m going to have to knock the dust off it!”
The star has also offered some tough love to the current batch of contestants on ITV2 dating show ‘Love Island’, which she launched her career on in 2017, telling them to “lighten up”.
She said: “People need to toughen up. You’re on a TV show and a girls’ holiday – lighten up!”
The ‘Getting Filthy Rich’ documentary-maker also has no problem with “being branded a reality star” and has no intention to stop being in “the reality world”.
Olivia said: “I think a lot of people who come from shows like ‘Love Island’ are concerned about being branded a reality star and want to stay separated from that.
“Why did you go on the f****** show in the first place, then? I love being in the reality world and I plan on making a lot more television like that but I also just wanted to see what else I was capable of.
“On a good day, I can be fairly articulate and I’ve got half a brain – so I thought, why not show that side of me?”

Josie Gibson still suffers ‘imposter syndrome’ on This Morning

OHMYGOSSIP — Josie Gibson still suffers “imposter syndrome” three-and-a-half years after her ‘This Morning’ debut.
The ‘Big Brother’ winner has her concerns comforted by her co-star Alison Hammond – who also catapulted to fame on the Channel 4 reality show and co-hosts the ITV daytime talk show on Fridays with Dermot O’Leary – who tells her “everyone deserves to be there”.
The 37-year-old television presenter told said: “I get nervous all the time and it’s three-and-and-a-half years along the line and I still get nervous to this day. Now and again, I’ve got to give myself a little talking to – because I sometimes get imposter syndrome – ‘What am I doing here? How did this happen? How did I get myself into this?’ Alison always says everyone deserves to be there.”
Josie called the gig “the best job ever” and “never in a million years” thought she would ever present the ITV show, which is fronted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Mondays to Thursdays.
Josie said: “It is a massive, massive deal and I still can’t believe they trust me with the job! I feel so honoured. If you had said to me, ‘One day, you will be hosting This Morning’ – the biggest daytime TV show in the UK, I would have probably burst out laughing. Never in a million years did I think I’d be doing something like this. But I can’t wait – I love working at This Morning so much, I’ve got the best job ever!”
Josie – who hosts features such as ‘Josie’s Camping Capers’ when she is in her roving reporter role on the show – named Alison as her “dream” co-presenter.
After being asked who that might be, Josie quipped: “Alison Hammond, obviously!”
The ‘Cooking With the Stars’ contestant – who is mother to three-year old Reggie with her ex Terry James – admitted she wants the show to win another National Television Award or TV Choice Award because she has “always” wanted to scoop a prize at a swanky ceremony.
She said: “It would mean having to build more shelf space! I’m joking, it would be absolutely incredible because it’s nice that you are part of an award-winning show. I always want to know what it feels like to go up and collect an award on stage, so I’m really happy that we’ve been nominated! Please vote so I know how it feels to be on the stage!”
The ‘Loose Women’ guest panellist labelled fellow television presenter Vernon Kay – who she co-hosted the show with for a week recently – as potentially “the funniest human being on the planet”.
Josie said: “Vernon Kay is quite possibly the funniest human being on the planet. I love how northern he is and how south west I am. He is a true professional, he’s so good at what he does. I don’t know how anybody can be that good, that funny and that lovely and beautiful. He’s just brilliant.”

Christine Lampard excited to talk Love Island on Lorraine

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine Lampard is looking forward to covering all things ‘Love Island’ when she steps in for Lorraine Kelly on ‘Lorraine’ this summer.
The ‘Loose Women’ presenter will job share with ‘Good Morning Britain’ host Ranvir Singh on the ITV breakfast show, while the 62-year-old Scot goes on her summer break.
On today’s episode (19.07.22), they told the host how excited they are to fill her shoes.
Christine, 43, said: “I love the excitement of every day being so different. Let’s face it, we get to meet the most incredible people, you get to chat about things – I’m guessing ‘Love Island’ will filter into the time that I’m on air, I’m a fan. They bank it all for when I’m on because they know I’ve been watching it, so I guess that might feature.
“But it’s just the excitement and the team here, everything’s such a well-oiled machine you just feel like you’re part of the family straight away.”
Ranvir added: “It’s the stuff of dreams, really. It’s quite surreal for all three of us to be in the same place.”
The 44-year-old TV presenter is particularly looking forward to the fashion segments on ‘Lorraine’.
She said: “It’s so fun. The thing that I really enjoy is I don’t get to do fashion ever in my other life. So what I love about it is I’m allowed to enjoy other bits of myself on the show.
“When Mark [Heyes] is on, I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, that hemline’ and I find myself and my sisters going, ‘I saw that on Lorraine’.
“What’s nice is all my family and friends watch this show, so it’s a lovely thing for me to be able to have another bit of me that I can talk about.”
‘Lorraine’ airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and ITV Hub.

Alicia Vikander is uncertain about Tomb Raider sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Vikander has confessed that a ‘Tomb Raider’ sequel is “in somebody else’s hands”.
The 33-year-old actress took over from Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in the 2018 film ‘Tomb Raider’ but confessed that Amazon’s acquisition of MGM earlier this year has left the sequel in an uncertain position.
Alicia told Entertainment Weekly: “With the MGM and Amazon buyout, I have no clue. Now it’s kind of politics.
“I think Misha (Green) and I have been ready, so it’s kind of in somebody else’s hands, to be honest.”
‘Lovecraft Country’ showrunner Misha Green has been tapped to write and direct the film and Alicia is “excited” to see the filmmaker’s vision realised on the big screen.
She said: “I’ve been excited to show the world. I love what she’s done with ‘Lovecraft Country’.”
Alicia explained that she felt energised as Misha came on board as director after Ben Wheatley dropped out of the project.
The ‘Anna Karenina’ star said: “It’s pretty amazing – we’re, like, the same age!
“I was like, ‘Oh, I’m just now on a Zoom with an extremely talented woman that I think has done some incredible work.’ It would be so amazing if we get to go and do this very big-ass film together, going to kick some ass in front of the camera and behind the camera, you know?”
Plans for the movie had been put on hold due to the pandemic but Alicia revealed that Misha had been working on a draft of the script.
She said: “I hope we go and make another movie. Because of the pandemic, we had plans of shooting this film, and now it’s been one and a half years, but Misha Green is on board, and she’s writing a draft right now.”

John Wick was meant to be played by an older actor than Keanu Reeves

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves’s ‘John Wick’ was originally scripted as a 75-year-old man.
The 57-year-old star has played the titular assassin in three movies so far but franchise producer Basil Iwanyk has revealed that the role had been supposed to go to an older actor.
Writing in his new book ‘They Shouldn’t Have Killed His Dog: The Complete Uncensored Ass-Kicking Oral History of John Wick, Gun Fu, and the New Age of Action’, Basil explained: “One of my best friends is Charlie Ferraro at United Talent Agency, who sent me this script from (screenwriter) Derek Kolstad called ‘Scorn’. The lead was a 75-year-old man, 25 years after being retired.
“It was the fun of watching Clint Eastwood kick ass. I thought, ‘Okay, there’s probably one or two names you could do this with: Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford.'”
Iwanyk then explained how Keanu came into the picture to play the assassin.
He said: “My other best friend in the world, this guy Jimmy Darmody, is an agent at CAA, who at the time represented Keanu.
“And he said, ‘Do you have any action movies for Keanu Reeves?’ I remember thinking to myself, ‘Keanu is one of the great action stars of the last 25 years – what happened to him? What’s he been doing?’ And he was directing his movie, ‘Man of Tai Chi,’ and doing ’47 Ronin’. We give him the script, we tell him, ‘Clearly, you’re not 75.'”
Keanu says in the book that he instantly knew that ‘John Wick’ would be “such a great collaboration”.
‘The Matrix’ actor recalled: “We all agreed on the potential of the project. It has this character of ‘John Wick’, but then you have also the real world, and at the same kind of underworld.
“This den of thieves that have this honour and a code. It has this emotional connection with ‘John Wick’, who’s grieving, who’s lost the love of his life and has this mythical dark past. And I loved the quest that he goes on to reclaim his life. And the world he moves through to do it.”
