Former Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik wants to return for I’m A Celeb All Stars spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Lembit Opik wants to return to the jungle for ‘I’m A Celebrity All-Stars’.
The former Liberal Democrats politician took part in the tenth season of the ITV reality show back in 2010 where he finished in 11th place and over the years, the series has welcomed a number of political figures onto the programme, including Nadine Dorries, Brian Paddick, Edwina Currie and Boris Johnson’s father Stanley Johnson.
ITV is bringing back legendary campmates for a spin-off show that’s being filmed in South Africa this year and Lembit is hoping to make a comeback.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “Nadine Dorries will be a bit busy to jump in that jungle shower now. But I’m game.”
The ex-MP – who camped with Gillian McKeith, Shaun Ryder, Dom Joly and Stacey Solomon, who was ultimately crowned Queen of the Jungle – believes he’s the “best of the bunch” and deserves a place over his fellow campmates because he was fearless when it came to taking part in the infamous Bushtucker Trials
Lembit, 57, added: “I’d jump on a plane tomorrow for another stint.
“I think I was a good campmate. I wasn’t scared of beasts, I didn’t mind the trials and unlike many of the celebrities, I had more common sense and the ability to laugh at myself.”
ITV bosses have reportedly been in talks with Myleene Klass, Paul Burrell, Stacey Solomon, David Van Day and Gillian McKeith for the spin-off series that’s set to air in 2023.

Samantha Womack: I speak to my ex two or three times a day

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ star Samantha Womack is “proud” that she is able to speak to her ex-husband “two or three times a day”.
The 49-year-old actress split from Emmerdale’s Mark Womack, 61, back in 2020. They had been married since 2009, after being a couple for 10 years prior.
Samantha and Mark share 21-year-old son Benjamin and 17-year-old daughter Lili-Rose together and have remained close friends even though they have each moved on romantically, and she insists it is something that she makes her happy to know the pair could enjoy a different type of relationship after their romance had fizzled out.
In an interview with Women’s Weekly magazine, she said: “Mark and I raised a family really well, so we agreed that we didn’t mind separating in terms of a traditional marriage, but actually I would really have suffered if we hadn’t maintained a friendship, because that was part of my life for 20 years.
“We speak to each other two or three times a day, Mark will say, ‘Can I pop round next week – can you have the two Chihuahuas?’ and I’ll say, ‘Yeah, but can you have the cat next week?'”
Samantha is currently dating ‘Coronation Street’ actor Oliver Farnworth, 39, and lives together with him in Spain, after relocating to Valencia at the start of the year. She says Oliver gets on with Mark and has a great relationship with their two kids, and they are a great example of a modern “blended family”.
She said: “We’re all actors and the kids are in full-time education, it’s a bit manic, so actually we really do need each other.
“Mark and Ollie are really friendly and the kids love having all of us; we’re a blended family. I’ve been parenting Mark’s son Michael since the age of four, so he comes down sometimes with his partner.
“We’ve worked hard at remaining friends and I’m proud of it. I Know for some people that’s not possible when the breakup is just too painful, but we were able to do it and I’m really grateful.”

Hi-de-Hi! actor Jeffrey Holland films pilot for new sitcom Simply Ken

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ star Jeffrey Holland has filmed a pilot for a brand new sitcom.
The 76-year-old actor – who played holiday rep Spike in Jimmy Perry and David Croft’s popular BBC One comedy series throughout the ‘80s – has shot a teaser episode for a show called ‘Simply Ken’, which has been written by former ‘Shameless’ and ‘Outlaws’ star Craig Shepherd and Alan Marni.
The premise of ‘Simply Ken’ sees Craig play main character Ken Codd, a divorced man in his 50s who is having a mid-life crisis, and Jeffrey will play his long-suffering dad.
‘You Rang, M’Lord?’ star Jeffrey believes the scripts and characters are wonderfully funny and that ‘Simply Ken’ – which also stars ‘On The Up’ actress Judy Buxton – has the potential to be as good as the shows that made him famous decades ago.
Speaking to Best of British magazine, Jeffrey said: “It’s about a man called Ken Codd who is just about to turn 50 and he’s in the middle of a mid-life crisis. “He’s lost his wife and his home, he’s lost his job, he can’t get on with his daughter, he thinks she’s a twit. I think it’s got a future; it’s got great potential.
“Fingers crossed that it’s going to take off and someone’s going to pick it up and commission a series.”
Jeffrey and Craig met through their shared love of Laurel and Hardy, a subject both men have one-man plays about.
Talking about the inspiration behind his stage show ‘And This Is My Friend Mr Laurel’, which is about the life of Stan Laurel, Jeffrey said: “The story of Stan Laurel’s life is quite extraordinary. They see this scruffy little man on the screen and have a good laugh but they don’t know the half of it. He was the brains behind the whole act. He worked with the writers of the storylines, he wrote all the scripts, he virtually directed all the films himself.
“They let him get on with it because he made their lives easier and, at the end of the day, Oliver Hardy used to go off and play golf and Stan went back to the cutting room floor and worked with the editors and put the film together. If he hadn’t done all that, they wouldn’t have bee the success that they were. People don’t know all that but I thought that it would be a fascinating story to tell, so here I am telling it.”

Paddy and Christine McGuinness confirm split after 11 years of marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy and Christine McGuinness have confirmed their split after 11 years of marriage.
Despite the reality star recently denying she and the former ‘Take Me Out’ host had gone their separate ways, the pair have announced they made the “difficult decision” to break up “a while ago”.
The pair didn’t give a reason for the split but said they remain on good terms and will focus on co-parenting their three children, nine-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and six-year-old daughter Felicity.
They are currently on a delayed family holiday to Spain, which was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Paddy, 48, sharing a snap of him and Christine looking happy on their vacation.
In a joint statement shared on their respective Instagram accounts, the pair wrote: “We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready.
But after the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.
“A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.
“This was not an easy decision to make but we are moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children.
“We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.
They added: “We hope this now draws a line under any more unwanted intrusion into our private life.
“Although we work in the public eye we ask kindly if you could respect our wishes for privacy on this matter.
“We’ll be making no further comments.”
Earlier this month, the 34-year-old model silenced claims their marriage was over and insisted that although the pair have been through “difficult times” over the course of their married life, they couldn’t be happier and she has “no complaints”.
Speaking to OK!, the mother-of-three said: “We’re really good, honestly.
“We have had difficult times but when I look back at our marriage and see where we are now, I think, ‘Wow, you know, we’ve done alright!’
“I first met Paddy 14 years ago and now we’ve got three gorgeous kids, we’ve been married for 11 years, we’re both busier than ever, but doing really great stuff. I couldn’t ask for anything more from him. I’m so grateful. I’m happy, I’ve got no complaints.”
The former ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ star went on to praise Paddy for being “all about the kids”.
She added: “He used to struggle to switch off from work when he came home and would be in his office writing or whatever.
“But now he can see the kids are getting older and how fast time flies. So when he’s at home, he makes it all about the kids. We’ve all grown as a family and it’s lovely.”

Recoupling will shock villa castmates on latest ‘Love Island’ episode

OHMYGOSSIP — Another recoupling will shock the villa castmates on the new ‘Love Island’ episode.
As the contestants head into their final week on the ITV2 show, they will be told on Friday night’s (22.07.22) instalment the girls can choose which boys with whom they want to spend their last days.
Davide Sanclimenti is in prime place to be at the centre of a battle for his affections, as the latest bombshell arrival Nathalia Campos immediately made it clear she wants to couple with the ‘Italian stallion’ businessman.
He’s currently paired with Ekin-Su Culculoglu, who was singled out by bombshell lad Reece for a date on Thursday’s (21.07.22) show.
Things also come to a head on the latest episode when the love rivals clash over their feelings about pizza toppings and take part in a pancake cook-off.
The stakes are raised when Davide is chosen to judge the winner, pitching his love rivals against each other in a bitter spat.
Ekin-Su tells Nathalia: “Do you know what I’ve learnt my love? The best way to end an argument is cooking, so you can prove to me with your pancakes my love, to see how good you are.”
Nathalia replies: “I don’t need to prove anything, babe, honestly who are you for me to prove anything?”
Ekin-Su hits back: “I am Ekin-Su, babe, and there’s only one of me,” prompting Nathalia to ask: “Who is that to me? Who is that to me though, Ekin-who..?”
The conversation ends with Luca announcing to the contestants: “It ends in the kitchen, tomorrow morning, be there, Turkey Vs Brazil”
Nathalia laughs as she brands it the “battle of the pancakes”.
The morning after, the two women walk in for their cook-off to see who can serve up the best meal and if Davide will be swayed by his blind tasting of their offerings.
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Jade Goody’s oldest son, 19, said on Thursday (21.07.22) he had landed an acting job on the BBC1 soap playing Little Mo’s son Freddie.
Insiders say his relationship with model and influencer Liberty is over just two months after they went public, according to The Sun.

Liberty also failed to congratulate Bobby on his new EastEnders job and they did not celebrate her birthday together last week, The Sun said.
Influencer Liberty, whose dad is director and DJ Don Letts, 66, celebrated her 22nd birthday last week without Bobby.
The pair first went public in May by attending a series of red carpet events together.

He is already filming scenes that will be shown on the BBC1 soap this autumn.
His Freddie Slater character was last seen in Walford in 2006.
Using his Instagram page to announce the role, Bobby said: “I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect. “Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped.
“Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su and Nathalia had an explosive bust-up over pineapple on pizza – before Danica ditched Reece for Jamie in a surprise recoupling on the latest ‘Love Island’ episode.
The food row erupted when Davide found himself at the heart of a battle for his affections.
It came after new bombshell Nathalia made no secret she wanted to get her hands on the ‘Italian stallion’, currently paired with Ekin-Su.
The love rivals clashed on Friday night’s (22.07.22) episode over their differing attitudes towards pizza toppings and took part in a pancake cook off.
Nathalia said: “Italian pizzas are the best – not the ones with the pineapple.”
Ekin-Su said she and Davide like pineapple on their pizza, before the Italian businessman denied it was to his taste.
The row rolled on in the kitchen, with Ekin-Su asking Nathalia: “You alright? Have you got an issue with me?”
Nathalia replied: “No, I haven’t got an issue with you,” prompting Ekin-Sun to say: “Are you sure?.. because if feels like you’ve got an issue with me.”
Nathalia added: “If I had an issue with you, I’d let you know babe. Maybe you have an issue with yourself?”
Ekin-Su told her to “drop the attitude as things got more heated, adding: “I hope you’re happy, you got a little show of the night.”
They finally settled their dispute in a pancake making competition where Davide was chosen to judge the winner – after Nathalia branded her rival “Ekin-who..?”
Davide picked Ekin-Su as winner, but Gemma said in the Beach Hut: “As much as I’m team Ekin, I personally preferred Nathalia’s. She is never to know that but Nathalia’s were better by a lot.”

Nope star Keke Palmer believes in aliens

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Nope’ star Keke Palmer is convinced there is definitely intelligent life out there in other parts of the universe.
The 28-year-old actress stars in Jordan Peele’s new sci-fi horror movie which follows the residents of a small town who witness an abnormal event and attempt to capture footage of a UFO – and Keke is adamant she believes in aliens in real life too.
Asked by SFX magazine if she genuinely believes there “something out there?,” she replied: “One thousand per cent. Is that a real question, sir? One thousand per cent I think there’s something out there. Absolutely without a doubt.”
However, Keke’s co-star Daniel Kaluuya – who previously appeared in Jordan’s horror ‘Get Out’ – isn’t so sure.
When asked the same question, he answered: “I don’t know. Statistically it would make sense – I don’t think we’re the only lifeforms in this universe. There’s a lot of planets and a lot of stars. So when I look at it statistically and I get away from the human being God complex I would think that there would be more people. There must be other things.”
Keke went on to add of ‘Nope’: “Jordan’s films are like art pieces ..
you’re going to see something totally different than I’m going to see.
And that’s what makes it work. We’re in the Peel-ian areas where his work doesn’t have to mean one thing to everybody and that’s what makes it fantastic.”
‘Nope’ is scheduled for release on July 22.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy and Christine McGuinness reportedly split up at the beginning of June.
On Friday (22.07.22), the couple announced the “difficult decision” to end their 11-year marriage and insiders have claimed that the couple have been separated since June.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Christine and Paddy spent weeks of hiding it – but she couldn’t keep it up. She was in the driving seat when it came to finally ending their marriage.”
“Christine and Paddy ended their marriage early in June. She made it very clear to those close to her that it was over. Paddy, however, wanted to put on a united front.
“He wanted to control the narrative and Christine felt like she had no option but to go along with it.
“But in the last week she said they couldn’t carry on and pushed for them to go public. She has had enough of putting on a brave face.”
Paddy, 48, and Christine, 34, have nine-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and six-year-old daughter Felicity together and plan to continue to live together for the sake of the kids.
They are currently on a delayed family holiday, which was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Paddy recently sharing a snap of him and Christine looking happy on their vacation.

Spielberg’s The Fabelmans to premiere at TIFF

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Fabelmans’ will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
This will be the veteran director’s first-ever appearance at the Canadian film festival as he brings the semi-autobiographical movie to TIFF, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
After premiering at TIFF, the movie will receive a theatrical release in November.
Plot details remain under wraps but the movie is a semi-autobiographical project which draws from Spielberg’s time growing up in Arizona.
It stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Julia Butters and newcomer Gabriel LaBelle.
LaBelle plays the aspiring filmmaker Sonny – a character inspired by the ‘Jaws’ director – with Williams and Dano taking on parts inspired by Spielberg’s parents. Rogen’s role is also said to be influenced by Spielberg’s uncle.
The deeply personal nature of the project means that Spielberg has co-written the script with his frequent collaborator Tony Kushner. It marks the director’s first screenplay credit since the 2001 movie ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’.
Judd Hirsch, Sam Rechner, Oakes Fegley, Chloe East, Jeannie Berlin, Robin Bartlett, Jonathan Hadary and Isabelle Kusman have also been cast in the film.
Spielberg has often discussed how his upbringing in Arizona served as inspiration for many of his projects – from stories to characters.

Kevin Bacon was surprised Tremors TV series was cancelled

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Bacon was surprised the network that paid for a pilot of a TV spin-off of ‘Tremors’ didn’t take it to series.
The 64-year-old actor starred alongside the late Fred West as handymen Valentine and Earl, respectively, in the 1990 cult classic.
And there was set to be a series, and even though Syfy decided not to take it to air, the ‘Footloose’ star is still hopeful it will make it to screens one day.
Speaking on ‘The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham’, the Hollywood star said: “We went and did a pilot, in my opinion, it was an awesome pilot.
“To my surprise and I’m still not quite sure why, the network that paid for the pilot didn’t want to take it to series, so that was it, it was over.
“You know, someone just asked me the other day if there is still a possibility, of course, you always say never say never, but for the time being, it just died…”
Kevin expressed his desire to make a sequel to the film just last year.
He admitted: “It was one film of mine that I wanted to revisit that character. I don’t look back at all.”
Sadly, Fred passed away on May 8, and Kevin had fond memories of working with the acting legend.
Upon hearing the news of his death, Kevin tweeted: “So sad to hear about Fred Ward. When it came to battling underground worms, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner.
“I will always remember chatting about his love of Django Reinhardt and jazz guitar during our long, hot days in the high desert. Rest In Peace, Fred.”

Ulrika Jonsson slams Love Island men for ‘misogyny’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ulrika Jonsson has slammed the ‘Love Island’ men for “misogyny and sexist behaviour”.
The 54-year-old presenter his hit out at this year’s show, claiming it has “turned itself into the biggest vehicle for seriously toxic masculinity”.
Writing in her Sun newspaper column, she said: “Putting aside the tribal overtones among the men — the pack mentality, the back-slapping and chest-beating — it’s their sense of ownership of the women that might seem subtle and could go unnoticed to the untrained eye.
“Davide clicking his fingers when talking about how he could get Ekin-Su back, ‘just like that’. Luca blaming Gemma when Billy flirted with her. Dami saying Indiyah is ‘my girl’. And who could forget the preposterous suggestion made by Jacques that the only way of testing if a relationship is any good is by trying it on with someone else?
“The girls were treated much harsher for their actions during Casa Amor than the men judged themselves. Tasha and Ekin-Su being more or less painted as harlots for doing next to nothing when their other halves were snogging away like it was going out of fashion. These double standards are so outdated.
“Misogyny and casual sexism have cast long, dark shadows over this series and the men themselves don’t appear to see it.
“You could argue that the producers should intervene, but we don’t want men to constantly have to be told what is acceptable and not.
“We want them to know. And they really should by now.”
However, Ulrika praised the women for “showing some strength, resilience and resistance” despite “gaslighting” from the men.

Declan Donnelly’s brother to be laid to rest next week

OHMYGOSSIP — Declan Donnelly’s brother will be laid to rest next week.
Father Dermott Donnelly, 55, died suddenly from a suspected brain bleed earlier this month and his funeral will be held in Newcastle on Friday (29.07.22), according to The Mirror.
Dec’s close pal and presenting partner Ant McPartlin is expected to attend the funeral, along with Declan’s family and members of the Catholic clergy from across the North East, where Fr Dermott served for 30 years.
Dermott was believed to have been carrying out community work when he complained about a headache and later collapsed.
He was rushed to North Durham hospital and Declan travelled from London to be with him.
However, his death was announced in a statement from the diocese of Hexham and Newcastle earlier this month.
The statement said: “It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr Dermott Donnelly, who died peacefully this afternoon in hospital.
“This has come as a great shock to all of us. Please pray for the repose of his soul and keep his family, especially his mother, in your prayers at this difficult time.”
A spokesman for TV star Declan said: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the death of Fr Dermott Donnelly who died peacefully this afternoon in hospital surrounded by his family and close friends.
“We ask for the utmost privacy for the Donnelly family at this difficult time.”
Father Peter Kyi Maung, who served with Dermott at St Joseph’s Church in Stanley, Co. Durham, said: “He was hardly breathing in the bed, it was so sad.
“They think he had bleeding on the brain. Declan had come to be with him and their mum was there as well, I saw her at the hospital and it was so hard for her, a mother seeing her dying son.
“When she hugged me, I knew how much she was suffering.”

Adam Collard enjoys three-way kiss on latest ‘Love Island’

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Collard will enjoy a three-way kiss on Monday night’s (18,07.22) ‘Love Island’.
It comes a day after he kissed Paige Thorne, following his return to the villa when he caused controversy on the ITV2 dating show during his appearance in 2018.
Adam gets intimate with two castmates during a game of ‘Suck and Blow’ on the latest episode.
It sees the contestants gather at the fire pit, with each passing a card around the circle using their mouths.
Whoever drops the card must complete a dare, which include kissing the Islander they most fancy.
Adam is seen in a preview being dared to do a three-way kiss with two girls of his choice.
It comes after Paige said Adam had a “60 per cent chance” of getting together with her.
Another favourite ‘Love Island’ game returns on Monday’s upcoming show – ‘Snog, Marry, Pie’.
Viewers had urged show bosses online to bring back one of the series’ most popular regular games.
It involves every contestant choosing who they want to kiss, would like to marry and who they would prefer to slather in cream pie.
Couples including Gemma Owen and Luca Bish are set to have their relationship put to the test by the challenge.
The game is notorious for pushing Islanders to the limit.
It last year put the villa on breaking point after Jake Cornish kissed partner Liberty Poole’s best friend Kaz Kamwi.
Meanwhile, Luca’s family issued an apology on his behalf on Monday afternoon, after he was criticised for appearing to enjoy misfortune of his castmates as their misdemeanours were played out during ‘Movie Night’.
His sister Claudia Bish said in a statement: “I want to apologise on behalf of Luca for his insensitive reaction on last night’s episode. I know that when he watches it back, he will be embarrassed and deeply apologetic.
“We as his family don’t condone his behaviour last night, but we do understand he is in an intense environment where his emotions are heightened… please be aware death threats and nasty comments totally overstep the mark and something we as a family should not have to endure, for this reason we have turned off the comments and messages.
“For all those who have sent messages checking in on us, we would like to thank you very much and we see you.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
