James Gunn teases ‘pretty spectacular’ Adam Warlock in Guardians 3

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn says Adam Warlock is a “pretty spectacular character” in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
The director of the delayed and hotly-anticipated third instalment of the Marvel series teased that the anti-hero – brought to life by Will Poulter – possesses “a very specific personality” in the flick.
While appearing at San Diego Comic-Con, the 55-year-old movie maker told ScreenRant: “I think, like all of the Guardians, he has a very specific personality. When you have a character like Adam, who has been written by a bunch of different comic book writers, each one has their own take on Adam. This is our take on Adam, and I think he’s a pretty spectacular character.”
The movie – which sees Chris Pratt reprise his role as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon – is yet to drop a trailer due to James’ dissatisfaction with the visual effects.
Explaining the lack of a trailer to a fan on Twitter this week, he said: “I wish you could have too. But it’s not just Marvel, it’s also me. Although I love the teaser some VFX aren’t where I’d want them to be for repeated views … close inspection – remember we didn’t wrap long ago – so you’ll have to wait just a beat! Sorry!”
In a follow-up tweet, The ‘Suicide Squad’ director explained why he showed it at the convention but didn’t give it a general debut.
James wrote: “Because when you see a VFX shot on screen for half a second it’s a lot different than watching it 100 times or taking a screenshot of it on your computer and dissecting it (not that anything holds up to that but I can get close!) I love the teaser btw.”

Corrie newcomer Jodie Prenger ‘curtsied’ upon meeting Bill Roache

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Prenger “curtsied” when she met Bill Roache.
The 43-year-old actress has joined the cast of ‘Coronation Street’ and joked that she looked like a “weirdo” when she met screen legend Bill,90, who has appeared as Ken Barlow on the ITV soap since its very first episode back in 1960.
She said: “I have just met Bill Roache and I don’t know what I did with my body but it was like half a curtsy and I went to do a shake. It just didn’t work out and I just made a bit of a weirdo of myself, but he was so lovely.”
The Blackpool-born star – who shot to fame when she won Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC talent search ‘I’d Do Anything’ back in 2008 and as a result played the role of Nancy in a West End production of ‘Oliver!’ – is playing the role of of cruise ship singer Glenda Jackson, who is the sister of established character Archie Shuttleworth, and explained that joining the show was an “honour” because her nan used to “worship” original street siren Elsie Tanner, played by the late Pat Phoenix.
She told The Daily Star’s HOTTV Column: “My family are all from Manchester – Moss side. They used to have a cafe-cum-grocery and my nan’s brother used to deliver Pat Phoenix’s groceries. That is how much we love it! My nan Terry Doyle worshipped Elsie Tanner and when your family have loved something for so long, it is genuinely an honour to be part of something that is an institution and a family. On my first day I remember driving up to the gates at ITV and it felt like I was at MGM Studios. It was amazing, I didn’t need a trip to Disney World!”
Jodie – who since playing Nancy in ‘Oliver!’ has enjoyed a long career in theatre and starred in shows such as ‘Calamity Jane’, ‘Tell Me on a Sunday’ and ‘Shirley Valentine’ – has seen her character join the Rovers Return Inn as a barmaid and added that she began to cry when she first stepped onto the pub set.
She added: “I could feel the tears start to come down my face [when I was on set in the pub.] You don’t realise the effect it has. There are tiny little things that she says like ‘Are they ‘eck as like’ and ‘Oh, come on kid!.’ It’s stuff I say!”
Jodie began filming on ‘Coronation Street’ back in July and her first scenes are set to air in early August.

Vicky Pattison says her “biggest fear” is being an alcoholic like her dad

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Pattison says her “biggest fear” is being an alcoholic like her dad.
The 34-year-old reality star has explored her relationship with drinking and her alcoholic father John as part of an upcoming documentary and was worried during production that – despite pursuing a healthy lifestyle – she would find out she was always going to end up like her father.
She told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “My biggest fear was that I’d find out something about me or my dad that I didn’t like. Or I find out that, ‘Well, maybe you are actually just going to be an alcoholic because your dad is, and you can go on all the fitness retreats you want and you can do all the Dry Januarys you like but you’re going to hurt your kids’.”
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star – who shot to fame on the MTV reality show about hard-drinking Newcastle natives – also explained that she never thought she would take up drinking when she was a little girl but because she is a “people pleaser” often struggles to say no in various social situations.
She added: “If you’d asked me at eight, nine years old if I was ever going to have a drink, I would have said no. I would have said, ‘There’s no way I’m ending up like my dad’. And I hate that that was even something that was in my mind that young. But am a people pleaser and I want to be what everyone wants me to be. If I am in a big social situation, like a big wedding or a massive event or a party, and someone’s like, ‘Oh, let’s do shots! Let’s do this!’, it’s very hard for me to say, ‘Oh, no, I’m someone different now.’
“Because there is still a part of me that is that person.”
‘Vicky Pattison: My Dad, Alcohol and Me’ will air on Tuesday 2 August on Channel 4 at 10pm.

Aldis Hodge wants solo outings as Hawkman

OHMYGOSSIP — Aldis Hodge wants to make solo films as Hawkman.
The 35-year-old actor has been cast as the superhero in the upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film ‘Black Adam’ and feels that the character’s “rich history” in the comic books makes him the ideal character for more spin-off projects.
Aldis told SlashFilm: “The thing about Hawkman, you’ll know if you look at the chronology of the comic book series, you have the Justice Society, you even have him dip into the Justice League a little bit, and then you have the standalone Hawkman comics, and there’s so much rich history there.
“His backstory, his curse, his history with Hawkgirl. There’s so much there to fill out a standalone film – a few standalone films! I just hope we get to explore it.”
Aldis has realised a life-long dream by getting to play a superhero on the big screen and is determined to make the experience last.
The ‘Straight Outta Compton’ star said: “It’s one of those things, where you’re like, ‘Oh man, if I ever get the chance…’ and for it to come to me in this way, I honestly never would have thought of myself as Hawkman.
“This is a bucket list career achievement for me, and I hope to continue to take care of it.”
Hodge recalled how superheroes have been a part of his entire life and acting career.
He said: “I’ve been an actor since I was three, but every time I was on a job and I was on good behaviour and did my thing, my mom would get me a Batman toy to reward me because I loved Batman… So really, my career was first motivated by DC, in truth.”

Kevin Feige wants Ryan Gosling in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige would welcome Ryan Gosling to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The ‘La La Land’ actor has revealed that he is hoping to play Ghost Rider in a future Marvel blockbuster and the Marvel chief would welcome the star because of his huge appeal.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con about Ryan’s Marvel pitch, Feige said: “Hey man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider…
“Gosling’s unbelievable. Ryan is amazing… I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU. He’s dressed up as Ken on Venice Beach and gets more press than giant movies coming out that weekend. It’s amazing.”
‘Ghost Rider’ was turned into a film back in 2007 with Nicolas Cage in the lead role and a sequel ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ followed five years later. The first movie co-starred Gosling’s partner Eva Mendes.
Ryan is rumoured to have been courted by the MCU to play the superhero Nova but he shut down the suggestions.
The 41-year-old star said: “I don’t know anything about Nova, if that’s what you’re going to ask me.”
When quizzed on how many comic book roles he’s turned down, Ryan replied: “It doesn’t matter. It wasn’t right for it. But I would love to do it.”
Ryan has been cast as Ken in the upcoming ‘Barbie’ movie and revealed that he is going through a tougher time than his ‘The Gray Man’ spy character as he has no money or home.
He said: “That Ken life is even harder than the ‘Gray Man’ life, I think.
“Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff.”

Only Fools star Sue Holderness almost eaten by an alligator

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Holderness was almost eaten by an alligator.
The 73-year-old actress is known for playing the role of Marlene Boyce in the classic BBC sitcom ‘Only Fools and Horses ‘ between 1985 and 2002 and was shooting the ‘Miami Twice’ episode in Florida with Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst when an alligator they were using on the set came after her.
She said: “The idea was this alligator would walk up behind Del and Rodney, they’d run off and the alligator would run towards them where there was a bowl of food. So the alligator was let off its leash and then headed towards the camera to this bowl of food but didn’t stop. The boys were at the other end of the forest by then!”
Sue – who also appeared on the sitcom’s spin-off ‘The Green Green Grass ‘ between 2005 and 2009 – went on to add that the predatory reptile ended up almost “two feet” away from her and she almost “died of fear.”
Speaking on the new Channel 5 documentary ‘Only Fools And Horses: Secrets And Scandals’, she added: “I, meanwhile, was filming on my video camera. I didn’t notice the boys had gone and I lost the alligator in my camera and it was about two feet from me. Sean, the chap who was supposed to be in charge, jumped on its tail, grabbed its jaws shut and wrapped this thing around it. I nearly died of fear, in fact – I nearly died. I could have been eaten by an alligator.”

Example ‘already knew’ he was going to win Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Example “knew” he was going to win ‘The Great British Bake Off.’
The 40-year-old singer – whose real name is Elliot Gleave – appeared in a celebrity edition of the Channel 4 baking competition for Stand Up to Cancer back in April 2022 and sought off competition from the likes of the show’s usual host Matt Lucas, DJ Annie Mac, and comedian Ed Gamble to the title of Star Baker.
Asked if he was shocked upon winning, he said: “I was a good actor at being shocked. I knew I was going to win! It was so much fun. With Ed Gamble, Annie Mac, and Matt Lucas. It was honestly one of the nicest TV sets I’ve ever been on. ”
The ‘Kickstarts’ hitmaker – who was born in London but now lives in Australia with his Antipodean wife Erin McNaught and their sons Evander, seven, and four-year-old Ennio – managed to be crowned winner of the special by judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with his Aussie-themed cake and explained that being on the show gave him a “sense of warmth” that makes him want to do it every year.
He told the Metro Newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “When you watch that show, it gives you a real sense of warmth you feel and cosiness and it’s like that on set. The crew, the make-up girls, camera men, the girls who come over energies and give you eggs and flour – it was just a wonderful experience. I wish I could do also it every year.

Joe Lycett ‘didn’t feel welcome’ in the workplace as a gay man

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Lycett “didn’t feel welcome” in the workplace as a queer man.
The 34-year-old stand-up – who identifies as pansexual and therefore claims to be attracted to all genders – explained that he turned to a career in comedy because he had a “lack of respect” towards institutions and felt “culturally excluded.”
He said: “I think if I’m really honest [my comedy] comes from a queer place. The working world, I didn’t feel like would welcome someone like me, who wants to dress a bit different and be a bit sort of over the top. And institutions and things like that, I didn’t have a lot of respect for in a way that maybe other people did. I felt culturally excluded.”
The ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ star – who is known for parodying the government as part of his act – went on to explain that his job is to make institutions look “silly” through his work and intends to keep doing so for as long as he can.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he told stand-in host Ranvir Singh: “But also, I see a lot of institutions – the government being one of them at the minute – who maybe don’t serve people properly and treat people with respect and sort of treat them with a lack of dignity and so my job as a comedian is to go ‘That’s bad, isn’t it?’ and make it look silly and look daft. And I’ll keep doing that for as long as I can!”

Gregg Wallace cried over a trifle on Masterchef

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregg Wallace broke down in tears over a trifle on ‘Masterchef.’
The 57-year-old TV star – who has served as a judge on the BBC cooking show alongside John Totorde since 2005 – was so moved when a contestant made a trifle because it reminded him so much of his grandmother, according to his co-star.
John told The Daily Star newspaper: “We get emotional and I think you can’t help but get emotional. I remember Gregg once having a trifle and tasting this trifle and having tears just streaming down his face. He said it just reminded him of his grandmother. It was just one of those great moments. When you eat it and it puts a smile on your face, then the language is already there. It doesn’t need words.”
Meawnhile, John – who has been married to former ‘Brookside’ actress Lisa Faulker and fronts ‘John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen’ with her on ITV – recently admitted that he and Gregg tend not to see each other outside of work and only meet up for “the odd lunch.”
He said: “It’s an interesting dynamic because we’re so different. But that’s what makes it work so well. We’re very independent from each other. We don’t hang out with each other outside work apart from the odd lunch. We have our own tastes in clothes, music and art and I suppose we can disagree on all those things like we do on a lot of the things we taste. Something we do agree on is that when food is cooked really
well and presented beautifully, it’s a fantastic thing And that’s been the success of the show, I think.”

Lauren Goodger ‘doesn’t blame anyone’ for the death of her daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger “doesn’t blame anyone” for the death of her daughter.
The 35-year-old reality star – who has been dating Charles Drury, 25, and already has LaRose, twelve, months, with him – tragically lost her newborn daughter Lorena back in July after she was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck and has decided to have a postmortem after she has been to visit her one last time.
She said: “I plan to go to see her soon to say my final goodbyes. I wasn’t going to have a post-mortem at first, but I changed my mind. I feel like I need answers. I need more of an understanding of why this happened. I don’t blame anyone, I can’t. It is what it is, and obviously, it’s awful. I’d do anything to rewind it. I guess I can blame myself, but situ then again I think it’s happened and I can’t change it. I’m not Tov getting anywhere by blaming to h myself. I have to try and move forwards and accept it. But first I need to understand it. That’s why I changed my mind about the post-mortem.”
Lauren added that during the tragedy – while doctors tried to save the little one from death – Charles “broke down” on the floor as he called out for the medics to “save his baby.”
She said: “They were doing everything they could right in front of us. We were like, ‘Please! Oh my God, please!’ Charlie broke down and was on the floor, screaming, “Please save my baby!'”
The former ‘TOWIE’ star also explained that while she is managing to stay “strong” during the day, it is when she climbs into bed at night that the “sadness” starts to take over.
She told new! magazine: “I put a brave face on for Larose but when I get into bed in the evening, I just want Lorena there next to me. I feel like I can keep strong in the day for Larose, but at night, that’s when it just hits me. That’s when I feel really, really sad and I miss her so much. Lorena has a teddy with her now and I’ve got a matching one, which I keep with me. When I say my final goodbye to her, I’m going to swap them over. I’m going to have the one she’s had, and she will have the one I’ve had.”
“She was just perfect. She was very, very much like Larose. She had beautiful black hair and blue eyes. She had big lips, a tiny little nose, and a lovely skin tone. She looked like a really healthy baby. I can’t explain how I feel, really. I don’t feel angry, I guess I feel quite calm. I feel all different emotions at all different times, but the worst is at night when Larose is asleep and I feel alone without Lorena.”

Chad Stahelski: Highlander reboot is still happening

OHMYGOSSIP — Chad Stahelski has assured fans that his ‘Highlander’ reboot is “still happening”.
The 53-year-old director is helming a reimagining of the 1986 movie that will feature Henry Cavill in the lead role and confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that he is working hard to get the film off the ground.
The original flick starred Sir Sean Connery, Christopher Lambert and Clancy Brown as immortal beings who hunt down one another to collect more power. The movie, notable for its ‘There can only be one’ catchphrase and Queen soundtrack, spawned four sequels and three spin-off TV series.
It is unclear if Henry will be playing a brand new character or one from a previous project but Chad believes the ‘Superman’ star has both the “physicality and empathy” to lead the movie.
The ‘John Wick’ filmmaker said: “Henry obviously has the physicality, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot if you can’t carry the empathy of a character that’s lived 500 years, and I needed somebody who could do both.”
Stahelski continued: “The character’s arc spans hundreds of years and he becomes many different personalities, all of which extend the timeline of his emotional growth.
“Then during our first meeting, my suspicions were confirmed: Henry was immediately riffing on the idea of the burden of immortality and you could see in his eyes that he can transform himself from being a young, vibrant soul to an old, wise soul. He had this combination I was fascinated by.”
Stahelski’s vision for ‘Highlander’ has been described as “a more grounded-in-reality take” when compared to the original films and “will likely play a bit more like a modern tragedy”.

Freddie Flintoff goes camping with Jason Manford

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Flintoff is to go camping with Jason Manford as part of a new show for ITV.
The 44-year-old cricketer will venture up Mount Snowden in Wales with ‘QI’ star Jason, 41, as part of a one-off special and an insider explained that getting the two together was a “no-brainer” for the broadcaster.
A source said: “Getting these two together is a no-brainer for ITV bosses, though the random challenge might leave a few viewers scratching their heads as neither have huge experience of surviving outdoors.
The insider went on to joke that although Freddie is known for working with Jason’s fellow comedian Paddy McGunness on BBC motor show ‘Top Gear’, he will be working “much closer” with Jason because the pair will be sleeping in the same tent.
The source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz Column: “Fortunately Freddie does have some experience of working closely with a comedian as he’s used to filming with Paddy McGuinness on Top Gear. Though he won’t have worked quite as closely as this before, as they will be sleeping centimetres away from each other on their jaunt in Wales.”
Back in June, Jason took to Instagram where he shared a few snaps from the mountain, thought to be during his time filming the upcoming show.
At the time, he wrote: “Few days in Wales camping (in a tent this time!) before a couple of days off. Belfast [and] Derry next weekend. Beautiful day. Don’t know why Wales don’t mention how lovely their weather is! It’s gorgeous.”
‘Two Men In a Tent’ will air on ITV later this year.

Tim Miller regrets making Terminator: Dark Fate

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Miller regrets his attempts to relaunch the ‘Terminator’ franchise.
The 57-year-old director helmed the 2019 film ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ – which reunited original stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton – but the movie flopped at the box office and Tim believes he made a mistake by taking on the project.
Tim told Collider’s Directors on Directing Panel at San Diego Comic-Con: “‘Terminator’s’ an interesting movie to explore, but maybe we’ve explored enough. I went in with the rock hard nerd belief that if I made a good movie that I wanted to see, it would do well. And I was wrong.
“It was one of those f****** Eureka moments in a bad way because the movie tanked.”
Despite his disappointing experience with the franchise, Tim would be happy to make a low-budget ‘Terminator’ flick.
The ‘Deadpool’ filmmaker explained: “I think if you make a lower cost ‘Terminator’ movie, a good director and movie star could make it great. It could be made with sock puppets and it could be awesome.”
Meanwhile, Linda returned to the ‘Terminator’ franchise as Sarah Connor for the first time in 28 years for the flick but confessed that she found it “awful” watching herself on the screen.
The 65-year-old star said: “I’ve only seen the film once, because I just find it awful to watch myself. And the only reason I watched it was because I love (director) Tim Miller, and I love my actors, and I just thought I owed it to Tim to see what we had done.
“Because we would yell that back all the time while we were shooting. He goes ‘Linda’ – over the bullhorn – ‘You’re going to see this movie?’ I’m like, ‘I’m not! You’re not the boss of me! You’re the boss of me right now!’ It was always a will-she-or-won’t-she thing.”

Kevin Clifton planning family with Stacey Dooley

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Clifton wants to have children with Stacey Dooley.
The pair fell in love after they won ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ together in 2018, and Kevin has called Stacey the “best thing in my life” as he revealed they have spoken about tying the knot and starting a family sooner rather than later.
Thrice-married Kevin, 39, said: “We talk about it. We’ve got no plans for it but we’re both interested in the idea of having kids. But it’s not something we’re looking to or planning at the moment.
“We’re just taking each day as it comes and enjoying being together.”
Kevin is taking on the lead roll in the upcoming UK touring production of ‘Strictly Ballroom: The Musical’ and Stacey will be in the audience to support him.
He said: “She knows how important ‘Strictly Ballroom’ was to me so she’ll be there cheering me on.”
And Kevin will always love performing with Stacey, 35.
He said: “For Christmas, we got some new dance shoes and sorted out that we’re going to go back to Blackpool and dance in the Tower ballroom. I’m going to choreograph another dance for us and we’re going to film it.”

Daniel Kaluuya had to learn horseriding for Nope

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Kaluuya had to learn how to ride a horse for his new film ‘Nope’.
The 33-year-old star features in Jordan Peele’s latest project – which tells the story of an estranged brother and sister (Keke Palmer) who experience an alien threat as they run their late father’s horse ranch in California – and wasn’t thrilled about working with the animals on the flick.
Daniel told the Daily Mail newspaper: “I got into an emotional scene with this horse, Lucky, and he started to do a really long pee and I had to wait until he finished.”
Peele praised the Oscar-winning star for working so hard to master the skill of riding.
The director explained: “I’ve never seen an actor work as hard as he did, in getting the horse skills.
“It’s just wonderful to watch his process, because the first day I met him on ‘Get Out’, I said, ‘I need that accent to be right, because you’re not doing it yet’. And he comes in and bam! Flawless.
“And so I had trust. And when he’s like, ‘Yeah, I got you, I’m gonna be a horse rider next time you see me’, that’s what happened.”
Daniel described the movie as a big change from his Oscar-winning part in ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ but was pleased to be reunited with Jordan after the pair worked together on the film ‘Get Out’.
He said: “There were a lot of non-dialogue scenes, which was a challenge (but) it was something that I would want to watch… and it was Jordan as well.”
Jordan recently suggested that the movie will reflect the “horrors” that the world is currently experiencing.
The filmmaker said: “Just to give you a little bit of a sense of what you’re going to see, because it’s f****** crazy – I wrote this movie in a time that we still exist in, where I think many of us would agree it feels like we’re in the middle of a bad miracle.
“It’s a reflection of all the awful and spectacular horrors that we’ve been living through. If you thought you were going to get a complete escape from the horrors of the world, sorry, it’s not that.”

Malcolm McDowell amazed by A Clockwork Orange popularity

OHMYGOSSIP — Malcolm McDowell says fans are still obsessed with ‘A Clockwork Orange’ 50 years on from the film’s release.
The 79-year-old star played Alex DeLarge in Stanley Kubrick’s cult dystopian crime movie and explained that fans are still recreating his character’s look on both sides of the Atlantic.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Malcolm recalled: “Once I was driving around under the Hammersmith flyover and I passed the Tube station and out came four boys in the white boiler suits with the bowlers and codpieces and I’m driving past… and I put the window down and looked out but of course they were oblivious.
“I thought, ‘Holy God! How amazing!’ I was hooting with laughter.”
The star continued: “But I see it all the time now. On Halloween now, in America, people dress like that. And they always come up to me like it was a new thing.
“They say, ‘You won’t believe this…’ And I say, ‘You dressed like me on Halloween?’ And they say, ‘Yeah! How did you know?'”
Malcolm stars in the new film ‘She Will’ as a filmmaker with an abusive past and feels that the project resonates following the MeToo movement.
He said: “It is because I don’t think we realise quite how the victims are affected through the decades, how they cope if they never get over it.
“This film makes that very precise statement – they’re always suffering in some way. And maybe the main character, Veronica, is not able to get past it. But something traumatic obviously happened.”
The movie features flashbacks of Malcolm as a young man and the actor felt it made the picture more authentic.
He explained: “It gave it an authentic ring. And I am playing a man who has been in the public eye somewhat. It’s interesting, because it really made me think – the script and the film – about abuse in a different way.”
