OHMYGOSSIP — Krysten Ritter is to star in a new ‘Orphan Black’ spin-off.
The ‘Jessica Jones’ star has signed up for the lead role in ‘Orphan Black: Echoes’ – a new series set within the world of the original which featured Tatiana Maslany as a woman who discovers she is one of a number of genetically identical clones.
A description of the new series states: “Set in the near future, the new Orphan Black takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. Creed 3 delayed until 2023

OHMYGOSSIP — The release of ‘Creed 3’ has been delayed until 2023.
The third movie in the ‘Rocky’ spin-off series had initially been due to hit cinemas in November, but Variety.com now reports the film’s launch date has been pushed back by four months and the boxing epic is now slated for release in March 2023.
The publication reports the release of ‘Creed 3’ has shifted from November 23 to a new slot on March 3 2023.
The previous November release date meant ‘Creed 3’ would have opened just 12 days after superhero sequel ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
Now the movie will face a box office battle with ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ while another superhero film, ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’, will land in cinemas 14 days later.
The third ‘Creed’ film stars Michael B. Jordan stars as Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed who was the rival of Sylvester Stallone’s character Rocky Balboa.
Jordan has also made his directorial debut by taking charge of the movie, which also stars Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad.
However, ‘Creed 3’ will be the first film in the boxing series not to feature Stallone, who made appearances in the previous two ‘Creed’ films as well as six ‘Rocky’ movies.
Jordan previously said of his new role as director: “Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. ‘Creed III’ is that moment – a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally …
“This franchise and, in particular, the themes of ‘Creed 3’ are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”

Jason Momoa reveals Ben Affleck will play Batman in Aquaman sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa has let slip that Ben Affleck will appear as Batman in ‘Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom’.
The 42-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a picture with his co-star, and revealed he will be back as the Caped Crusader/ Bruce Wayne in the forthcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) sequel, in which Momoa will reprise his role as the titular superhero.
He captioned the image: “REUNITED bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j (sic)”
‘Aquaman’ stars Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren, Patrick Wilson, Temuera Morrison and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are expected to return for the sequel, which will also feature Pilou Asbæk in a role yet to be confirmed.
Affleck first played the superhero in 2016 film ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, before reprising the role in ‘Suicide Squad’ in the same year.
He has also starred as the Dark Knight in 2017’s ‘Justice League’ and in ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, the director’s cut of the motion picture.
In April, Momoa revealed he had a “big hand” in the ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ script.
Introducing the movie’s director James Wan at CinemaCon, he said: “‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ is amazing. I got to see a little bit of it. Not that much of it. It’s amazing. The action and special effects are amazing. It’s funny. It’s heartfelt.
“I had a big hand in the script with James – it’s pretty much all me and I love it. I’m extremely proud of it. Unfortunately, you have to wait until 2023, but you know it’ll be the best movie of the year.”
Wan revealed that the cast were put through less “physical pain” than the first film, because new technology has been developed to reduce the amount of wirework required.
He explained: “On the first movie, we really put the actors through a lot of physical pain, you know hanging them on wires and what we call tuning forks. It was not the most comfortable apparatus to be strapped into.
“With this film we were able to now embrace new technology where we literally captured … literally putting like 100 cameras on the actors, capturing their performances and then taking what they do and then applying that to 3D versions of themselves.”

ITV to ‘sit down and review’ Love Island series after Ofcom complaints

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV are to “sit down and review” the “reaction” to this year’s ‘Love Island’ after 5,000 complaints were made to Ofcom in the past two weeks.
The channel’s boss Kevin Lygo has vowed to look at “how well” the ITV2 dating show – which is hosted by Laura Whitmore – “has done” this year, after some viewers complained to the UK’s communications regulator over alleged misogynistic behaviour from some of the male Islanders.
When asked about the number of complaints the show has attracted this year, and whether there will be an editorial review into the programme, he said at a media briefing for ITV’s interim financial results: “We continually assess a programme as it is going on because it is one of these odd every night live sort of shows.
“But when the series comes to an end on Monday, we will always sit down and review what we think about it, what the reaction has been, how well it has done.”
But Kevin admitted ITV are “very happy” with the way this year’s series has gone, and insisted it is “the best one we have had in many years”.
He added: “And we have to say this year, remember, it is the best one we have had in many years and I think everyone is thoroughly enjoying it.
“To get five million people to watch a show every night at nine o’clock is extraordinary in the modern era, so something is being done right.
“But you are right, we must always look to improve and work on what we have done. But we are very happy with the way it has gone so far.”
Kevin’s comments come after The End Violence Against Women (EVAW) Coalition joined Women’s Aid and Refuge in calling out “misogynistic and abusive behaviour” on ‘Love Island’.
A series of tweets on the EVAW Coalition page recently read: “#LoveIsland is a cultural phenomenon, reaching millions of young people across the country. We join @WomensAid @RefugeCharity and viewers in calling out the unchecked misogynistic and abusive behaviour we see year after year
“From TV shows to the news, the media has a massive influence on our collective attitudes to sex and relationships.
It also has an important role to play in challenging harmful beliefs and behaviours rather than perpetuating them
“Popular culture has the power to create positive change and help build a world where abuse is no longer tolerated.
“With countless former #LoveIsland contestants speaking out about the endless racist and misogynistic abuse they face online, change has never been more needed”
It comes after domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid told how they were in talks with ITV about the latest series of ‘Love Island’ after viewers accused some of the Islanders of “misogyny” and “controlling behaviour”.
Domestic abuse charity Refuge have also voiced concerns about the current series.

Declan Donnelly serves as pallbearer at late brother’s Mass

OHMYGOSSIP — Declan Donnelly served as a pallbearer at his brother’s Mass on Thursday (28.07.22).
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ presenter helped carry his late sibling Father Dermott Donnelly’s coffin at the Catholic service at Newcastle’s St. Michael’s Church – the same venue where he married wife Ali Astall – ahead of his burial on Friday (29.07.22).
A close friend of Dermott’s recently revealed a suspected brain bleed was the cause of death.
Father Peter Kyi Maung, who served with Dermott at St Joseph’s Church in Stanley, Co. Durham, recently said: “He was hardly breathing in the bed, it was so sad.
“They think he had bleeding on the brain. Declan had come to be with him and their mum was there as well, I saw her at the hospital and it was so hard for her, a mother seeing her dying son.
“When she hugged me, I knew how much she was suffering.”
Dermott – who was ordained 30 years ago – was believed to have been carrying out community work when he complained about a headache and later collapsed.
He was rushed to North Durham hospital and Declan travelled from London to be with him.
However, his death was announced in a statement from the diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.
The statement said: “It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr Dermott Donnelly, who died peacefully this afternoon in hospital.
“This has come as a great shock to all of us. Please pray for the repose of his soul and keep his family, especially his mother, in your prayers at this difficult time.”

Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova to rescue family from Ukraine ‘as soon as she can’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadiya Bychkova will rescue her family from Ukraine “as soon” as she gets the opportunity.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro finds it “difficult” that people she knows and loves – such as her father, grandparents and many friends – are still in her home country, which is currently suffering following an unprovoked invasion by Russia.
The 32-year-old dancer told MailOnline: “I think we’re all affected by it. I still have my father there and my grandparents, a lot of friends, it’s a very tough subject to talk about. It’s so difficult.”
Nadiya – who was last partnered up with broadcaster Dan Walker on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – admitted Russian violence has plagued her loved ones since 2014, following President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Crimea.
She said: “The war has been going on since 2014 when my family was involved all the time so it’s been very long for me.”
Nadiya is still “in touch” with everyone directly impacted by the violence – that has led to more than 10,000 recorded casualties and created 9.1 million refugees – and revealed they are still “safe”.
She said: “I’m in touch with them and I help as much as I can. I couldn’t get my father and my grandmother anywhere close to me but they’re there and they’re safe at the moment so as soon as I will get the chance to get them I’ll do that.”
The star is in a relationship with her fellow ‘Strictly’ pro Kai Widdrington.
The pair confirmed their romance in April, with Nadiya saying they been together “for a couple of months now”.
Nadiya – who has five-year-old daughter Mila with her ex Matija Skarabot – said: “It’s early days and we’ve been rehearsing for the Strictly Professionals tour, so there’s been very little free time. But we’re getting to know more and more about each other day by day. He’s kind and compassionate and makes me laugh. I feel very relaxed with him.”

Liz Truss is ‘completely horrified’ by Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Liz Truss is “completely horrified” by ‘Love Island’.
The UK Foreign Secretary – who is currently vying to replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister – could only hack watching the ITV2 reality dating competition for “10 ten minutes”.
The 47-year-old politician made the admission during the first of 12 Conservative leadership hustings – where she went up against her rival for the top spot, Rishi Sunak – in Leeds.
After being asked if the programme needed “reining in” following thousands of complaints of “misogynist bullying”, Liz told the crowd on Thursday night (28.07.22): “All I can say is that I watched it for 10 minutes with my teenage daughter and I was completely horrified and I turned it off.”
The politician has two teenage daughters – Frances, 16, and Liberty, 13 – with her husband Hugh O’Leary, and when it was put to if her daughter was “equally horrified,” she replied: “Unfortunately not”.
The latest ‘Love Island’ series has been the subject of a storm of allegations about abusive behaviour by some of the male contestants towards the girls. An episode that aired on 17 July – which featured the Islanders seeing videos of each other engaging in possibly bad behaviour, an evening nicknamed ‘Mad Movies’ – was subject to 2,481 complaints. That week the show received a total of 3,617 complaints.
Domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid has spoken out about the show’s responsibility to teach about the importance of teaching “acceptable and unacceptable” dynamics in relationships.
A spokesperson said: “This is clearly more than talking about any individual contestants, and a programme based around the formation of romantic relationships must have guidelines on what behaviour is acceptable and unacceptable in those relationships.”
The organisation confirmed they were in talks with the producers to address “issues and concerns”.

Ryan Moloney’s post-Neighbours job foiled by COVID

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Moloney’s post-‘Neighbours’ job plans have been foiled by coronavirus.
The 42-year-old star trained to be a commercial pilot years ago just in case the soap was ever axed, but after the programme aired its final-ever episode in Australia on Thursday (28.07.22) – ahead of the ep airing in the UK on Channel 5 tonight (29.07.22) – Ryan doubts he will get a job flying planes now, because the COVID pandemic left lots of “really skilled pilots” looking for work.
He said: “My initial backup pan was [being] a commercial pilot.
“So I got my commercial pilot’s license and then, obviously, Covid – and now there’s a bunch of really skilled pilots in the world who are out of work.
“So I don’t think I’ll get a gig there!”
But Ryan has wasted no time in lining up a new career, with the star revealing he is to start a civil construction course and learn how to drive trucks and excavate.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: “I also do a bit of beekeeping as well, so I’ve got a few hives to do honey and all that kinda jazz.
“But I’m actually just about to start civil construction as well.
“So, I’m going to do what every little boy dreams of and go and learn how to drive trucks and excavate and dig big holes!”
The ‘Neighbours’ finale saw the return of former stars Guy Pearce and Kylie Minogue, among others, and as a result the soap won the TV ratings in its home country for the first time in more than a decade, according to website TV Blackbox.
Channel 10 and channel 10 Peach – which the ep was simulcast on – saw 873,000 metro viewers across both.

Olivia DeJonge to play female lead in The Trashers

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia DeJonge has been cast as the female lead in ‘The Trashers’.
The 24-year-old star will feature opposite David Harbour and Cooper Hoffman in the latest movie from acclaimed director Cooper Raiff.
The movie will chart the rise and fall of Jimmy Galante (Harbour), a Connecticut trash magnate and associate of the Genovese crime family – which has been cited as an inspiration for the iconic TV series ‘The Sopranos’ – from the perspective of his teenage son AJ (Hoffman).
In 2004, Galante purchased the city’s minor-league hockey team and got his son to run it. The team were notorious for their rough style of play but gained a wide fan base as they started to get more and more successful.
However, the team’s rise came to an abrupt end when Galante was arrested on 72 criminal charges.
Further details about Olivia’s character are yet to be revealed but Raiff is directing from a script by Adam R. Perlman.
The director is considering multiple distributors for the movie with production set to begin in the autumn.
Olivia recently starred as Priscilla Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic ‘Elvis’ and also had a role in the TV series ‘The Staircase’.
Raiff has just come off the movie ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’ – in which he stars alongside Dakota Johnson – which has been snapped up by AppleTV+ in a $15 million global deal.
The filmmaker expressed his joy to be working with David on the project.
Raiff said: “I feel so lucky to be working with David. He’s a magnificent actor and the perfect Jimmy Galante because he’s truly tough and impossibly warm. He’s also the best person and I hope he reads this and knows I want to be friends with him forever.”

Patrick Dempsey and Jack O’Connell added to Ferrari cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell and Sarah Gadon have joined the cast of ‘Ferrari’.
The trio have joined the starry ensemble for the movie that tells the story of the sports car entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari as Adam Driver, Shailene Woodley, Penelope Cruz and Gabriel Leone are all set to feature.
Dempsey has been cast as the Italian racing driver Piero Taruffi while O’Connell will portray the British racer Peter Collins.
Michael Mann’s movie is set in the summer of 1957 and sees the former racing driver Ferrari (Driver) in crisis with bankruptcy threatening the car company he and his wife Laura (Woodley) built from scratch a decade earlier.
Their fractious marriage struggles with the mourning of one son and the acknowledgement of another and Ferrari decides to counter his losses by rolling the dice on one race – the iconic Mille Miglia that takes place across 1,000 miles in Italy.
Mann has penned the script with Troy Kennedy Martin and it is based on Brock Yates’ book ‘Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine’. The director is also producing via his Moto Productions banner with P.J. van Sandwijk and John Lesher.
Production on the movie is set to begin in Italy on Monday (01.08.22).
Michael has been determined to make the movie for several years and explained that he likes the balance of real-life drama and the thrill of racing.
The 79-year-old director said: “The real power of this piece is in the emotionally charged lives of these people in complex, extreme circumstances.
“In addition, there is the explosive power and lethal beauty of racing. It has a great drama at its core and that’s why ‘Ferrari’ stayed with me.”

Home and Away’ shares heartfelt tribute to axed soap Neighbours

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Home and Away’ has paid tribute to ‘Neighbours’.
The Australian soap took to social media to praise “the amazing cast and crew” of their rival show, after the last ever episode of the programme – which began in 1985 – aired Down Under.
Home and Away’s official Twitter account posted on Thursday (28.07.22): “Hats off to the amazing cast and crew at Ramsay Street for an epic 37 years. @neighbours will forever be an iconic part of Australian television history.
“From everyone here in the Bay, massive respect and admiration for you all.”
In response, the ‘Neighbours’ account quote tweeted the post, and added: “Big love to Summer Bay [yellow heart emoji].”
The finale – which is airing on Friday (29.07.22) in the UK at 9pm on Channel 5 – will see some big names return to the soap, including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce and Margot Robbie.
Lynne McGregor – who brings to life Irene Roberts on ‘Home and Away’ – also shared her “love” to ‘Neighbours’.
The 69-year-old actress tweeted: “A huge shoutout to all the #Neighbours cast and crew. Past and present. Chookas for the future and thanks for the memories.
“I’m in the UK atm so will miss ( or have missed) the finale, but will be sure to check it out when I return. Biggest love from a fellow #AussieSoap person. (sic)”
‘Neighbours’ was announced to be ending earlier this year after producer Fremantle failed to find a new home for the Channel 5 programme.
Stefan Dennis – who played Ramsay Street’s resident baddie businessman Paul Robinson since the show’s inception – recently defended the network’s decision to pull the plug on ‘Neighbours’ admitting it was just an “economic” decision.
The 63-year-old actor said: “It’s just an economic decision, and in business, that’s what happens. That happens in business every single day.
“If a show can’t get the income for the outgoings, then of course, no business is going to hang onto that. It doesn’t matter how sentimental.”

Gladiators ‘set for reboot on the BBC’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gladiators’ looks set to be rebooted, more than 30 years after it began.
The popular sports game show – which saw members of the public go up as Contenders against the resident Gladiators – first hit screens on ITV in 1992 and ran for eight seasons before its 2000 end.
Each episode – which was presented by the likes of Ulrika Jonsson, John Fashanu and Jeremy Guscott over the years – saw four people go up against the mighty Gladiators, who had past lives as professional bodybuilders and gymnasts.
The news of the revamp was first shared by Broadcast, who reports that the show looks set to air on the BBC and be brought to life by MGM Studios and Hungry Bear, the production company founded by ‘This Morning’ presenter Holly Willoughby’s husband Dan Baldwin.
According to the television trade publication, ‘Gladiators’ is expected to commence filming at Sheffield Arena next year, implying there may be a live audience component added to the programme.
In 2008, the show was resurrected for two seasons on Sky One, including three episodes that saw the new generation of Gladiators go up against some of the original lineup. International editions have also sprung up in countries such as Australia, the United States, Finland and South Africa.
It’s not clear who will present the new edition, but Ulrika was recently back on screens during her stint on dating show ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
She said at the time: “But when dating It’s a weird thing when they know more about you then you know about yourself and they’re telling you about yourself.
“There is an imbalance there and you basically want to find somebody who’s not phased by who you are, who just treats you like a normal person so you’re on an even playing field.”

Love Island’s Tasha’s dad praises Andrew as ‘son-in-law material’

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Andrew Le Page is looking like “son-in-law material”, according to her girlfriend Tasha Ghouri’s dad.
The 27-year-old real estate agent has been handed some huge praise by his potential future father-in-law Tarek Ghouri, who was left impressed by the way Andrew described his 23-year-old daughter’s cochlear implant – which allows her to hear – to their pretend child during the ITV2 show’s baby challenge.
Tarek wrote on Twitter: “Andrew is looking more and more like son in law material “The fire pit is very special… your mum told me about her super power, her super power being that she has an implant that makes her able to hear.
“She’s very, very special and very, very brave and with this implant” (sic)”
Tarek recently revealed he put a “letter of support” in Tasha’s bag before she left for ‘Love Island’, and admitted he had been “blown away” by how well she has “conducted herself” on the show.
He said: “She does have a letter in her bag from me that she can get out at any time during the show when she needs some support, and if she needs it she will pull it out, for sure. I am blown away with how she’s conducted herself – she’s conducted herself in such a good way.
“The way she approached her hearing and explained to people about the cochlear implant was absolutely fantastic and a big moment of pride for me.”
During her introduction on the show, the dancer described her disability as a “superpower” and Tarek gushed about how proud he is of Tasha for accepting herself and speaking up for others.
Andrew and Tasha have had an up and down time in the villa, being put up for several dumpings, and they both came back with different partners after Casa Amor.
But the couple – the first of the pairings to become official boyfriend and girlfriend during this year’s series – have rallied and are now second favourites to win this year’s series.
However, the pair have a tough ask to win this year’s finale, which airs on Monday (01.08.22), due to Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu being hot favourites to take home the show’s £50,000 prize.
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Love Island’s Antigoni Buxton and Jacques O’Neill are ‘just friends’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ stars Antigoni Buxton and Jacques O’Neill are “just friends”.
That’s according to former Islander Jay Younger – who was dumped from the island earlier this month – who has responded to speculation that the pair might be getting close after they were spotted walking arm-in-arm together on a night out this week.
The 28-year-old former bombshell told OK! magazine: “They’re just friends,” before reminiscing about a night out where the 23-year-old rugby player FaceTimed the 26-year-old musician.
Jay said: “I was on a night out with Antigoni two weekends ago and Jacques FaceTime’d, but it was more of a friendly chat.”
He added: “It wasn’t like that … They’re just pals.”
Antigoni had to leave the villa in Majorca after Danica Taylor opted to couple with Jay, despite a blossoming frisson between the blonde singer and him.
Jacques departed the villa because he wasn’t feeling himself on the show, and said he would wait for Paige Thorne, 24, who is currently still in the villa and coupled up with 26-year-old personal trainer Adam Collard, who previously competed on the programme in 2018.
Jacques had clashed with Adam after his arrival in the villa, and following his show exit the star admitted he “just wanted to get out” of the situation.
He said: “At home, you can remove yourself from situations, but in there you had to deal with every situation, and in that moment I took my microphone off, and walked straight through the front doors because I just wanted to get out of that place.
“Producers tried coming to me, they were like, ‘Jacques, are you OK?’, I was saying, ‘I don’t want to speak to you or anyone. I want to be left to myself’. It was too much.
“I was saying to them, ‘This is more than a TV show to me’, it was genuine feelings involved and my head space wasn’t right to be in a TV show.
“I dealt with stuff in there that I’ve never dealt with in my life.”

Charlize Theron set for role in Jane

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlize Theron is set to star in ‘Jane’.
The 46-year-old actress has signed up for Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming movie that is based on the life of the sci-fi author Phillip K. Dick.
‘Jane’ is based on the relationship between the writer and his twin sister Jane, who died just six weeks after her birth. Her death affected Dick personally and is thought to have influenced his work.
Dick’s work inspired ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Total Recall’ and his novel ‘The Man in the High Castle’ was adapted into a TV series by Amazon.
Theron, Cuaron and Phillip’s daughter Isa Hackett are all producing the movie, which is being developed with an eye for Oscar-winners Charlize and Alfonso to star in and direct respectively.
Hackett said: “The story of ‘Jane’ has been with me for as long as I can remember.
“Jane, my father’s twin sister who died a few weeks after birth, was at the centre of his universe. Befitting a man of his unique imagination, this film will defy the conventions of the biopic and embrace the alternate reality Phillip K. Dick so desperately desired – one in which his beloved sister survived beyond six weeks of age.
“It is her story we will tell, her lens through which we will see him and his imagination. There is no better way to honour him than to grant him his wish, if only for the screen.”
Charlize previously revealed that she finds admiration from her children more rewarding than Hollywood acclaim.
The star voiced Morticia Addams in the animated film ‘The Addams Family 2’ and revealed that her daughters Jackson, ten, and August, seven, were impressed with their mother.
Charlize said: “I can tell they are quietly pretty chuffed their mum is Morticia.
“As a mum who, like all mothers, wants their kids to think she’s cool, it’s a feeling no Oscar can replace.”
