Paige Thorne and Adam Collard fail to make Love Island final

OHMYGOSSIP — Paige Thorne and Adam Collard were dumped from the ‘Love Island’ villa on Sunday night (31.07.22), narrowly missing out on making tonight’s (01.08.22) final.
The results of the Islanders’ vote for the least compatible couple were unveiled during the penultimate episode in the current series of the ITV2 dating show.
And unfortunately, the 24-year-old paramedic and the 26-year-old gym director were voted out.
Series favourites Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, Luca Bish and Gemma Owen, and Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page were all in danger of being dumped.
However, Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack had immunity as they received no votes.
Despite Ekin-Su and Davide receiving the most votes, it came down to a public vote, with Paige and Adam exiting the competition.
The episode also saw the return of ‘Meet The Parents’.
It saw Gemma’s mum Louise tell her retired football legend dad Michael is “really proud of you, really proud.
“They’re all loving watching you, they’re missing you like mad.”
Luca’s dad Michael said of Gemma: “She puts you straight doesn’t she.”
Ekin-Su’s mum Sezer and brother Arda arrived alongside Davide’s mum Nadia and sister Valeria.
Speaking in Italian, Nadia tells Davide: “You’re doing well and you’re being yourself. Dad’s also watching and sends his regards. He doesn’t understand much of the English! In Italy everyone has been watching you.”
When Davide notes Ekin-Su is an actress, his mum says: “But I can see she is being sincere. The way she looks at you, she is head over heels.”
Fans will find out tonight (01.08.22) which couple has been crowned the 2022 winners.
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Kate Garraway’s husband had ‘life-threatening’ sepsis

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway’s husband was rushed to hospital with “life-threatening sepsis”.
The 55-year-old presenter returned to ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Monday (01.08.22) after taking time off over the last few weeks when the health of her spouse Derek Draper – who has suffered a string of medical issues since contracting COVID-19 early in the pandemic – further declines, and she detailed to viewers and co-host Richard Madeley how a kidney infection had caused some dangerous complications.
Kate explained Derek had been in and out of hospital but for nothing major medically until 9 July when she was on air.
She said: “I got a phone call from the person who was looking after him saying, ‘Right, we’re really worried’. I whizzed home and it just sort of went boom from there.
“We called an ambulance, went to A and E, where they said he had very severe sepsis, life-threatening sepsis. So it was really dramatic.”
After praising the efforts of medical staff, Kate explained they needed to quickly find the source of infection and get Derek onto the right antibiotics.
She continued: “His blood pressure was so low.
“A really junior doctor said, ‘What did you think it might be?’ He knew it wasn’t Covid-19 because we tested before we left the hospital on the Thursday.
She continued: “I said, ‘Well I did wonder if it was a urine infection, but weirdly we couldn’t get anything for a sample.’ And they just went, ‘Kidneys’.”
“Unfortunately, his kidneys were really badly infected, blocked. The challenge now is to save them. So that’s where we’ve been for the last three weeks.”
Kate confirmed her husband is still in hospital “waiting for his next procedure” but is no longer on an intensive care ward.
She said: “One kidney is looking really good, just need to look at the other one. Still in high dependency.”

Jon Favreau didn’t want Iron Man to die

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Favreau urged the Russo brothers not to kill off Iron Man.
The 55-year-old filmmaker-and-actor – who directed ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2’ and portrayed Harold ‘Happy’ Hogan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – was shocked when he read the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ script and called his fellow directors to urge them to rethink the decision to have Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sacrifice himself to restore the world and defeat Thanos, insisting it would “devastate” too many people.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Anthony Russo recalled: “Part of the pressure came from Jon Favreau, who called us up after he read the script … and said to us, ‘Are you really going to kill Iron Man?’”
Joe Russo added: “I remember pacing on the corner of a stage on the phone with Favreau trying to talk him off a ledge. Because he’s like, ‘You can’t do this. It’s gonna devastate people, and you don’t want them, you know, walking out of the theater and into traffic.’ We did it anyways.”
The directors previously revealed Downey cried when they broke the news to him that his alter ego was going to be killed off – but he backed the plan completely.
Joe said: “When we started winding down the pitch, and getting to his death, Robert started crying. And when we were done, he said, ‘That’s f****** awesome.’ That’s when we knew that we had to do it. Because he felt it.”
Jeremy Renner – who, as Hawkeye, was one of the six original Avengers alongside Downey, Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) – previously admitted he won’t watch ‘Avengers: Endgame’ again because it was such an emotional experience.
He said: “I saw it at the premiere, but that was just something to celebrate for all of us.
“We were all laughing and weeping, and it was a lot, it was a lot to do. I’ll never watch that again. It was a difficult experience. We were all just a sobbing mess and we’re laughing.
“It’s amazing, we were like audience members, and that was awesome to experience. That was a lovely, beautiful experience to share.”

Zoey Deutch has begged for another Zombieland film

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoey Deutch would love to star in another ‘Zombieland’ movie.
The 27-year-old actress played Madison in the 2019 sequel ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’, and she has revealed she has begged director Ruben Fleischer a number of times to make another film in the post-apocalyptic zombie comedy franchise with her in it.
At first, she quipped in reference to the Von Dutch outfits her “dumb blonde “alter ego wears: “I would love to put the ‘Von Deutch’ attire back on, for lack of a better pun.”
She added to The Hollywood Reporter: “That experience was so fun, and I’ve been begging Ruben [Fleischer] to put me in a movie of his again. But yeah, I would love to play Madison again. She’s such a character.”
Fleischer already teased he would love to develop a spin-off film that focuses on Zoey’s character.
He said in the same year the sequel was released: “I would love to do a Madison standalone movie.
“So, I think that story remains to be written. That would be a fun thing to go find out. That actually would’ve been a good post-credit scene where those two [Madison and Berkeley] are in Babylon just being pretty dumb together.”
The original ‘Zombieland’ movie was released in 2009, and Ruben admitted there were various reasons why it had taken so long for the second film to come to fruition.
He said: “It was a combination of us wanting to pursue different worlds after the first one. I know I was curious to not just do the same movie again. I was excited to try my hand at other stuff.
“After I did that, I realised just how special the first one was and how lucky I was to have that be my first movie.
“So, after about five years, I talked to the studio about trying to get the sequel going, but Rhett [Reese] and Paul [Wernick] were very busy with ‘Deadpool’. So, they worked as executive producers, and helped us crack the story.
“Then, we worked with a few different writers to get the script to a place, and every draft got better and better.”
Returning cast members included Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus and Emma Stone as Wichita.

Call The Midwife voted best TV show of past 25 years

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Call The Midwife’ has been voted the best TV show of the past 25 years.
The BBC One drama beat off strong competition from shows including ‘Fleabag’, ‘Gavin and Stacey’ and ‘The Wire’ to top the RadioTimes.com poll with 25 per cent of the vote.
‘Doctor Who’ took second place with 13 per cent, while ‘Line of Duty’ and ‘Sherlock’ tied for third place with seven per cent.
‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ completed the top five with five and four per cent of the vote respectively.
Speaking about the achievement, Call the Midwife creator Heidi Thomas said: “All of us on the show are absolutely delighted to hear that RadioTimes.com readers have voted for us. It was just a really lovely surprise.
“When you’ve been going on for as many years as we have, you know you’re not the thrill of the new any more, so I think it says a lot about our audience’s loyalty. But also about the fact that we’re doing something right in keeping the show fresh as we move forward. That in itself, I think, is the most encouraging thing.
“In terms of beating other shows, I don’t think drama should be a competition. I think all dramas of note have something to offer their audience and there’s such a variety of programmes coming at viewers these days from all the different streamers.
“I’m just really proud we’re still up there with shows which are very recent and very heavily promoted.”
‘Call the Midwife’ first aired on BBC One in January 2012, with Jessica Raine, Pam Ferris, Bryony Hannah and Miranda Hart in the original cast.
The show was recently commissioned for a 13th season.

Paige Thorne almost quit Love Island with Jacques O’Neill

OHMYGOSSIP — Paige Thorne considered leaving the ‘Love Island’ villa with Jacques O’Neill.
The pair had appeared to have a strong relationship before Jacques head was turned in Casa Amor and although they were working on getting past it, Jacques was upset when Paige grew close to bombshell Adam Collard.
However, despite her growing attraction to Adam, paramedic Paige admitted she thought about walking away from the show when Jacques did.
Speaking after she and Adam were voted out of the villa on Sunday (31.07.22), Paige said: “It did cross my mind a little bit to leave with him, but things hadn’t been 100 per cent all the way through, and the fact that they weren’t was what made me think.
“The fact that I stayed and I gave 100 per cent to the experience and found something new and something more suited towards me just goes to show that everything happens for a reason.”
And, she is happy she stayed to explore a relationship with Adam.
Paige added: “He’s coming to see me in Swansea and I’m going to Newcastle. We’re already talking about holidays and Christmas plans. I definitely see a future.”
Adam also spoke about Jacques departure, saying: “I just wanted to make sure he was OK first and that he was doing it for the right reasons and not doing it just because it was me.
“Don’t get me wrong, I knew I wanted to be with the girl he was with. At the same time, we gave each other a hug before he left. I went up and shook his hand. We both know the score, we both know what we signed up for and I wouldn’t even be surprised if we ended up being mates on the outside to be honest.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

The movie has been written by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch – the creative team behind hit women’s wrestling drama ‘GLOW’ – and focuses on the last minute search to put together the team after President Ronald Reagan’s effort to improve relations with China led to the country inviting the US to compete in the first world championship for women’s football.

Billy Brown and Josh Le Grove slam Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Billy Brown and Josh Le Grove claim producers allowed bullying to happen on the show.
The dumped islanders have hit out at producers for controlling conversations in the villa and claim that more should have been done to make contestants aware of how their words were being perceived by the viewers.
When asked on the ‘Secure The Insecure’ podcast: “Did you see misogyny and sexism, and bullying in the villa?”, Billy responded: “I can see why people were saying about the bullying. I can see why, I can understand.
“Especially to girls, don’t go and keep hurting that girl constantly, such as Tasha. Don’t go and just keep going at her, going at her, going at her.
“For me to see that, that is not nice. I don’t like no one feeling out of place. I don’t like no one feeling like they can’t go and speak to someone, or alone.
“For me, Luca and Dami for instance, they just constantly go to Tasha, go to Tasha. They might see it as banter but when I spoke to Tasha one night she was crying. I saw her over there by herself.”
Josh added: “Imagine you’re in year 11 at school and the teacher’s just left the classroom, it felt like that kind of atmosphere.
“A producer could easily step in and be like, ‘Listen, this is how it’s coming across’. Or, ‘How would you be on the outside?’
“I feel like sometimes they step in when they want to step in, and they will sit back and happily let something come across a certain way. I feel like we have a situation like that.
“I feel like some people get carried away and it would be nice and easy for the producers to just step in and be like, ‘Listen, you wouldn’t do this on the outside, or this is how it’s coming across’. Rather than just waiting and then stepping in later.
“I feel that a lot of them won’t understand how much is getting shown or how it’s bring portrayed on the outside.
“So if they’re getting told, ‘This is what it’s looking like, obviously to a certain point, you should understand certain things you shouldn’t say are going to come across a certain way’.
“But at the same time, you’re in a little bubble. If they’re telling you, ‘What you’re doing, you’re doing great, you’re doing great’. And they’re not saying, ‘Listen, this is not coming across very well’. That’s also where they should be focusing on mental health.”
The pair also claimed that there were strict rules in the villa over who they could talk to and when.
Josh said: “I was in welfare for 20 to 40 minutes every day just because it was the only place I could actually get stuff off my chest.”
Billy added: “If you feel a certain way that day, you can’t go and chat to them. That mental health side of things was a bit messed up.
“If you’re feeling something and you want to go and chat to the girl about it, or whoever you’re with about it. Say I am really stressed out and I want to chat to Josh about the Danica situation or Tasha situation, you’re not allowed.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Danny Miller and new wife Steph Jones ‘saved each other’

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Miller says he and his new wife Steph Jones saved each other when they were both struggling with “dark times mentally”.
The 31-year-old former ‘Emmerdale’ actor revealed that Steph’s parents often praise him for “saving her life” but he admitted that Steph, 30 – with whom he has a nine-month-old son Albert – also helped him when his anxiety was at its worst.
During his wedding speech at the Nunsmere Hall Hotel in Cheshire, Danny said: “Stephanie and I found each other at my darkest time mentally, but what I didn’t realise was it was her darkest time too.
“Her mum and dad always tell me that I saved her life, but what they don’t realise in actual fact was that Steph saved my life in more ways than one and changed my life in more ways than one and for that I do owe her my life. It’s why we’re inseparable.
“We’re a team and watching Albert grow as the newest member of our team and seeing Stephanie be the greatest mum I’ve ever seen and the bestest friend I’ve ever had and now the most beautiful wife I could have ever asked for is everything.
“Stephanie Miller I adore the ground you walk on and I’ll spend the rest of my life proving that to you. I love you.”
Stephanie – who first met Danny in primary school – revealed that she struggled with depression but explained that Danny sent her to his therapist and she is doing much better.
She told OK! magazine: “When you’re experiencing depression you’re always thinking, ‘Have I let my family down?’ and always worrying about other people’s opinions rather than focusing on yourself.
“I couldn’t put my finger on why it was happening but you don’t want to put it onto other people. But me and Danny were going through the same thing when we met again so we didn’t feel like we were putting it on each other.
“Danny sent me to his therapist, which really helped me. I’ve seen him a few times and now it’s few and far between that either of us will see him now, but we know he’s always there if we need him.”
Danny added: “Steph’s parents Barry and Joyce usually tell me over a bottle of wine how I’ve done everything for their family. They tell me they were really worried about Steph before we got together again.
“They were worried about her welfare and mental health and how they might find her one day, or not find her. It was important for me to get all that across as it’s a huge part of us meeting again and I believe it’s why we found each other again.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Edith Bowman, Sean Fletcher and Colin Murray will present ‘The Great Food Festival’ for BBC Two.
The trio started filming the new series on Saturday (30.07.22) in Scotland and will travel around the UK, exploring “what we eat, where it comes from, when it is produced, who produces it and why it matters”.
The presenters will be joined by food enthusiasts from around the UK, including Briony May Williams and Leyla Kazim in England; Suzie Lee in Northern Ireland; Julie Lin and Jim Smith in Scotland and Onkar Singh Purewal, Meinir Howells and Michela Chiappa in Wales.
Edith said: “I grew up in a hotel so food has always been part of my DNA. I’m incredibly excited to explore different part of the UK to celebrate the food we produce, not least in my homeland, looking at everything from oysters in Stranraer to livestock in Nairn. I can’t wait to start filming.”
Sean added: “Food and the way it is made, from farm to fork or picker to producer, has always been a passion of mine. It must be obvious because I tend to be given the food assignments on TV shows. So presenting a whole series on the best of what we eat alongside Edith and Colin will be a dream job. I was brought up in England, but feel just as much Welsh having lived in Wales for 10 years and learnt the language, so I’m looking forward to showcasing the local food stories of the two places I call home.”
And Colin said: “This show is about the people and the places as much as it is about the food. I’m really looking forward to getting to know all three.”
The series will also explore food festivals across the UK including Nairn Show and Stranraer Oyster Festival in Scotland, Colwyn Bay in the north of Wales, and Cardiff’s city centre market as well as the Abergavenny Food Festival, Belfast Mela, Ould Lammas Fair, in Northern Ireland, and York Food Festival and Taste Cumbria in Cockermouth in England.
