Brett Goldstein had two weeks to prepare for Thor cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Brett Goldstein only had two weeks to prepare for his cameo in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
The ‘Ted Lasso’ actor makes a brief appearance as Hercules in the mid-credits scene of the recent Marvel blockbuster and he admitted he thought studio executives and director Taika Waititi were joking when he approached him about the role.
He told The Playlist: “It was literally out of the blue one night, and I was very busy, and it was like, ‘Can you make time for a Zoom?’ ‘Yes, sure.’ And they go on Zoom, and they just told me what you see in the film, which is they sort of opened with, ‘So Russell Crowe is Zeus,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, OK, go on.’ And blah, blah, blah.
“And then they turn around, and they reveal, ‘It’s Hercules; it’s you.’ And I went, ‘What?’ Just like, ‘Are you serious? Are you f**king with me? Is this a wind-up?’ So yeah, it was as surprising to me as I think it has been to other people.”
Brett admitted he was concerned he wouldn’t be in the shape that was required for the role in such a short space of time.
He continued: “I said, ‘You know I’m basically like a skinny comedian?’
“I said, ‘When is this filming?’ It was like in two weeks, and I was like, ‘I mean, I’ll do my best, but two weeks feels…’
“I said, ‘He doesn’t have to be as big as Thor, does he?’ And look, on the day, I mean, I’m doing 400 pushups that day. I was fit to explode. I did the best I could on that day, yeah.”
But Brett, who is also a writer, enjoyed being involved with the film, though he’s unsure if it will lead to further appearances in the MCU.
He said: “[It was an experience] I haven’t had for a long time, where I had no involvement in the behind-the-scenes of it.
“Look, you’re in f***ing good hands. They make really good s***. Do you know what I mean? And Taika Waititi’s f***ing brilliant, so it was like, ‘I’m in the best hands possible.’
“But it’s amazing. Who knows if anything will come of it? Who knows, but it was a fun thing to do, and I’m pleased that people seem to have enjoyed it.”
And the 42-year-old actor joked he’ll definitely be in shape if Marvel call again.
He quipped: “I’m going to eat 30 chickens a day from now on. It will be fine.”

Billy Eichner needed Bros to be ‘authentic’

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Eichner wouldn’t have signed up for ‘Bros’ if it wasn’t “authentic to gay audiences”.
The 43-year-old comedian was first approached about the movie by producer Judd Apatow and director and co-writer Nicholas Stoller and insisted he was “not interested” in taking a typical romance tale and making it about two men.
He told Britain’s Esquire magazine: “When Nick told me he wanted to do a gay romcom, I said to him, ‘If you think we can just do ‘When Harry Met Sally’ and swap out the man and woman for two men, then I’m not interested.’
“While I wanted the story to be accessible to everyone, it also had to be authentic to gay audiences.
“To his credit, Nick immediately said,’Whatever is honest will be best.’ “
In the movie, Billy plays podcaster Bobby, whose anti-relationship stance changes when he meets Luke Macfarlane’s Aaron.
And the ‘Billy on the Street’ star – who also co-wrote the film – insisted it was “important” to incorporate their sex lives into the film.
He said: “For so many years, the world turned a blind eye to LGBTQ people and the way we live our lives.
“And, as offensive and traumatising as that it, it can also be liberating.
“If you didn’t consider us part of ‘normal society’, then we didn’t have to operate by your old-fashioned, heteronormative rules.
“We made up our own rules. Our friendships, sex lives and relationships are different.
“I thought it was important to show these two men being physical with each other.
“I think sex is hilarious, absurd and awkward.
“I understand there is a shock value to it, because people have been so scared to go there in the past.”
Billy admitted it was daunting trying to get the movie off the ground.
He said: “Nick and Judd, as straight white men, I guess, have a certain confidence.
“But although I’ve had success, I’ve never been able to make something at this level.
“I’ve never even starred in an indie movie.
“A lot of that is because, up until very recently, Hollywood did not embrace openly gay actors and comedians.”

Gabrielle Glaister returning to Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabrielle Glaister is returning to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 62-year-old actress has agreed a deal with producers to reprise her role as cruise ship entertainer Debs Brownlow, 22 years after she sailed away from the cobbles and soap bosses think fans will love the “blast from the past”.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Gabrielle was approached by Corrie execs earlier this year.
“After a series of top-secret meetings, she signed on the dotted line.
“Everyone is now really excited about Debs returning to Weatherfield. It’s going to be a brilliant blast from the past for fans.”
During her original 2000 stint in Weatherfield, Debs stole her sister Natalie Barnes’ (Denise Welch) boyfriend and insiders say the character will be shaking things up for other residents this time around.
The source added: “The writers are planning some great storylines for Debs. There’s going to be plenty of drama.”
The former ‘Blackadder’ actress has already returned to filming on the soap, with her first appearance on screen likely to air in the autumn.
When she was first cast as Debs, Gabrielle’s casting came as a surprise because she was already well known for playing Patricia Farnham in rival soap ‘Brookside’ from 1990 to 1997.
She admitted at the time she was a “huge fan” of ‘Corrie so couldn’t pass up the chance to be part of the long-running ITV soap.
She said when she first joined the show : “I am a huge fan of Coronation Street and I am thrilled to be working alongside Denise [Welch].
“I’m just hoping it won’t spoil my enjoyment as a viewer as I will know what is going to happen.”

Molly Rainford isn’t looking to find love on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly Rainford won’t be looking for love on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 21-year-old actress insisted she won’t be following some of the contestants from previous years who have ended up romancing their dance partners, because the ‘Nova Jones’ star’s parents don’t want her to get “distracted” by men and she’s happy to stay single.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I’m only 21, so I’m not looking for a relationship on ‘Strictly’. That’s not in the picture right now. I want to focus on my career.
“My parents don’t want me to be distracted or worrying about boys just yet. I’m single and don’t plan on changing it.
“Being offered a massive show like ‘Strictly’ is life-changing. It was really out of the blue for me, I was so surprised to be asked.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got the call — everyone in my family loves ‘Strictly’. The glitz and glamour is the most exciting part to me, I love the idea of all the costumes.
“I’m no stranger to wacky outfits with my job on CBBC, so I’m going to throw myself into it. I’m excited for people to see Molly perform rather than Nova.”
Molly was just 11 years old when she made it to the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ finals in 2012 and after impressing Simon Cowell, she admitted tough-talking ‘Strictly’ judge Craig Revel Horwood doesn’t faze her.
She said: “I‘m hoping to charm the judges with my hard work. My plan is to just be myself.
“Craig Revel Horwood doesn’t scare me — I managed to get on the right side of Simon Cowell. Everyone talked about how scary he was, but he is a big softie deep down.”
And the CBBC star has a plan to set herself apart from the other contestants.
She said: “I want to be the first contestant to sing on stage while dancing my routine.
“That would be my ultimate dream, but I’ll need to get my stamina up for it.
“If I got to week nine or ten I could try to pull that out of the bag.”

Idris Elba slims down for Luther topless scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba asked his personal chef to help him look “the bee’s knees” in the ‘Luther’ movie.
The 49-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as tough cop John Luther in a big-screen spin off of the BBC drama series and has ditched junk food in order to be “nice and lean” in a topless scene he appears in in the film.
King The Chef, aka King Enekeme, told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I got him nice and lean — the ladies will love him. Idris wanted to lean up in particular for that film because there’s a topless scene he’s got to do, so he was like, ‘I’ve got to look the bee’s knees’. ”
The chef explained he made a short-term change to Idris’ diet and insisted the ‘Mountain Between Us’ star didn’t work with a trainer to achieve his body goal.
He continued: “We put him on smoothies, lots of greens, kale and spinach, all that stuff, and avoided junk food.
“Everybody wants a good-looking plate of food. However, you’ve got to be realistic. If you want to get down to this weight in the next two to four weeks, it’s not only going to be dazzle dazzle.
“Bear with me for that period of time, after that you can have all the steaks and butter you want.
“There was no personal trainer on Luther, that was more food focused — I’m gonna take credit for that one.”
Idris has been tipped to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, but King – who has been friends with the actor for years – doesn’t think it would be the right move for his pal.
He said: “Whether he is or not I don’t know, I think there’s other things he’s got up his sleeve.
“I personally don’t think he should take Bond. It’s too obvious, it’s been around him for years. It’s time to move on.”

Michael Shannon confirms location change was caused by Arkansas’ abortion stance

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Shannon has confirmed ‘Eric LaRue’ moved locations because of Arkansas’ stance on abortion.
The ‘Shape of Water’ star will make his directorial debut with the film, and while he had a number of ideas in the pipeline that he was “excited about”, he realised it would be morally wrong to work there after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade – which gave women the right to seek a termination – and the state initiated a quick change of their own laws to ban abortion.
He said: “We were all set to go in Arkansas and looking forward to it. We had some locations I was excited about, and locations are the name of the game right now.
“Then the Supreme Court did what they did, and Arkansas is a trigger state.
“So immediately the trigger laws went into effect, which prohibited abortion of any kind in any circumstances.
“I was talking to a friend of mine and she said, ‘You know you probably shouldn’t shoot there.’
“And I thought, Well gee, that would be a drag to try and move at this point. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised I agreed with her. So I called my producer and he agreed as well. And so we did it.”
The 48-year-old star acknowledged the decision won’t have a big impact on the state, but it felt important to move the production anyway.
He added in an interview with The Rake: “It hasn’t necessarily been easy. It’s not like we were going to bring billions of dollars to the state of Arkansas, so it’s more of a gesture than anything.
“The movie to me is the most important thing.
“But I couldn’t imagine waking up and going to work every day in a place where a woman doesn’t have the right to do what she wants with her own body – particularly as the main character in my movie is a woman.”

He said: “She was due on the 5th of August and they’ve moved it to the 7th of August. She’s in France at the moment, she’s coming up to 34 weeks Of course I am [excited] because she is having a little girl. There’s something about your daughter having a little girl, it shouldn’t make a difference, but it kind of does.”
The happy news for the couple comes just months after the gym instructor took to Instagram to reveal that she and her husband were expecting.
Alongside a picture of the scan photo, she wrote: “Little one.”
Meanwhile, James appeared live on ‘Good Morning Britain’ – which Richard was co-hosting at the time – to surprise his father-in-law with the news that he was going to become a grandfather again.
James told Richard: “Chloe and I are expecting our first child, we’re going to be having a little girl. You are
going to be a grandad once again!”

Helen Skelton to bring her ‘wild’ side to Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton will be bringing her “wild” side to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The TV presenter is among the famous faces who will be taking to the dance floor this year and her ‘Summer on the Farm’ co-star Martin Hughes-Games has now revealed Helen might be BBC bosses a headache as she has a habit of saying “naughty things”.
He told The Sun: “She’s a safe pair of hands but has to be reined in a bit because she has a tendency to be a bit wild. We have someone from Channel 5 compliance, on set in South Yorkshire, who tells her that she mustn’t say too many naughty things.
“Although of course there’s always the chance that she might.”
Helen, 39, previously competed on ‘Strictly’ in the 2014 Christmas special and news of her participation was confirmed on host Claudia Winkleman’s BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday (13.08.22).

The hair is the best, the make-up is incredible, the costumes are incredible. Who gets to go to work and be made to look a bit like Beyonce and have a fun time?
“I thought this is madness not to do it, of course I should do it, it will be so much fun.”
Helen completes a lineup that features Will Mellor, Kym Marsh, Richie Anderson, Kaye Adams, Jayde Adams, Ellie Simmonds, Tyler West, Matt Goss, Ellie Taylor, Molly Rainford, Tony Adams, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin and James Bye.

Nicola Adams reveals the name of her baby boy

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Adams and Ella Baig have named their baby boy Taylor Nate Adams.
The loved-up couple welcomed their son last month and Nicola admits that she felt an “instant love” towards her baby boy.
Nicola, 39 – who won gold medals at the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016 – shared: “My son being born is the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to me. I can’t even explain the feeling – I felt this instant love.”
Nicola and Ella actually considered numerous names for their baby boy before they agreed to go with Taylor.
The former boxer told HELLO! magazine: “We had a few names in mind because we wanted to see what he looked like first to see if the name suited him. We didn’t want to get stuck on one name and have to think of a new one if it didn’t work.”

Ella said: “I’m excited to see who he wants to be when he’s older. It will be so rewarding to see him experience everything we can offer him and see what he wants to do.”

There’s no better person to work with than Tom Cruise, says Maggie Q

OHMYGOSSIP — Maggie Q thinks there’s “no better person to work with” than Tom Cruise.
The 43-year-old actress starred alongside Tom, 60, in ‘Mission: Impossible III’, and Maggie relished the experience of working with the Hollywood star.
She shared: “Tom is always trying to make everything better … Say what you will … I mean, people say what they want about everyone, but I know for me when I work it’s great if you like each other, it’s great if you develop a friendship out of a professional working environment, but at the end of the day you really just want to work with professionals who want to achieve the best work.
“If that’s what you want, there is no better person to work with than Tom Cruise. There’s no one on the planet who fights that hard, who’s always thinking, who cares as much as he does. There just isn’t. And who’s genuinely passionate about the product.”
Maggie explained that Tom is always in a good mood on set because he’s so passionate about his work.
She told the ‘Light the Fuse’ podcast: “I mean, he loves what he does, which is why when he’s at work he’s in a really good mood.”
Earlier this year, Simon Pegg described Tom as an “incredibly generous performer”.
The actor hailed the attitude of his ‘Mission: Impossible’ co-star, saying he “cares a lot about everybody else”.
Simon said: “It’s always fun. He’s an incredibly generous performer. He cares a lot about everybody else.
“He’s always hanging out around the monitor … after hanging off an airplane, he’s worried about me doing a fistfight which isn’t particularly scary.”
Simon also revealed that Tom has high standards and an impressive work ethic.
He explained: “I’ve always had a good experience with Tom. You know you’re working on something which is going to be executed with 100 percent commitment and enthusiasm. It’s nice to have that as the standard.”

Jurassic World Dominion’s feathered dinosaurs explained

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Jurassic World Dominion”s feathered dinosaurs were included for the first time to update the movie according to the latest scientific findings.
The sixth installment in the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise starring Chris Pratt hit cinemas earlier this year and it introduced audiences to a number of dinosaurs covered in feathers which were seen for the first time in the movie series – and now visual effects supervisor David Vickery has explained director Colin Trevorrow wanted the film to give a more accurate depiction of what many dinos actually looked like.
He told Screenrant.com: “I think one of the … (instructions from Trevorrow) was not sort of correcting the sins of the previous films, because not having feathers on dinosaurs in ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Jurassic World’ was because science didn’t believe that dinosaurs had feathers at the time that those movies were created.
“So the characters have been established, but to try to give back to the fanbase and establish that, ‘Okay, we can have feathers in a ‘Jurassic’ franchise.’ That’s something that people have been crying out for for a long time …”
He added that it was also a huge technical achievement to put feathers on the dinosaurs.
Vickery said: “Technically, ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ really pushed the envelope in terms of feathers. That’s a huge creative and technical challenge that we had set before us on the film, but also just trying to realise these creatures in so many different environments, in snow and ice and in the forest and in the hot desert sun, in Malta and in really urban environments, as well as the sort of traditional jungle environments that we’re used to seeing them … ”

James Jordan tips Fleur East for Strictly Come Dancing success

OHMYGOSSIP — James Jordan has tipped Fleur East to impress on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 34-year-old pop star has joined the line-up for this year’s series, and James – who starred on ‘Strictly’ between 2006 and 2013 – is convinced that she’ll be among the best contestants.
He said: “She’s going to be very good. She’s going to have rhythm. She’s in the music industry, and with the kind of stuff she does where she dances, she’s going to be very good.”
By contrast, James isn’t expecting too much from former England soccer captain Tony Adams.
The ballroom dancer also rubbished the suggestion that sports stars are suited to ‘Strictly’.
He told HELLO!: “When people say ‘sportspeople are really good’, that’s normally back in the day when you didn’t have trained dancers on the show.
“Now there are trained dancers on Strictly, the sports people don’t come across as well. The only thing they have going for them is maybe their work ethic. They work hard and push themselves.”
James doesn’t have any issue with celebrities who have dancing experience.
In fact, he actually suggested that it’s one of the key ingredients to the show’s success.
He said: “There’s nothing wrong with that, but if you’ve been to stage school and have a dance background, you’re going to be better than a sportsperson who’s never danced before.
“We’ve said this before: if you don’t have celebs who are good at dancing, the show won’t work. Some people say, ‘Oh, it’s not fair’ but it’s still an entertainment show and we want to be entertained. We want to see good dancing and bad dancing, and people trying and improving. You still need those good ones.
“For me, the comedians are always my favourites because I’ve seen good dancing all my life.”

Chad Stahelski teases mythology in John Wick: Chapter 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Chad Stahelski has revealed that ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ will feature plenty of mythology and ninjas.
The 53-year-old director is returning to helm the fourth movie in the action franchise and revealed that the movie will use its extra runtime to cram more plot in.
Chad told Variety: “I love mythology. I love a good myth. I don’t really believe – at least for the ‘John Wick’ movies – in a three-act structure. I believe in storytelling and leaving it.
“You know, we’ve always seen ‘John Wick’ as Odysseus. So we take the time we need to tell the story. As long as we don’t fall asleep watching it, we keep it going. But I guess there is a bathroom limit.”
The last movie in the series – ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ – featured a wide variety of action sequences, including ninjas on motorcycles, and Chad isn’t sure how to top it with the new movie, which is set to be released in March 2023 and sees Keanu Reeves return in the titular role.
The filmmaker said: “Ninjas in cars, I guess. I don’t know! It’s always ninjas, man.”
Stahelski has produced the new Netflix film ‘Day Shift’, which stars Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg and is helmed by debutant director J.J. Perry. Chad first met Perry over 30 years ago when they did stunts together on ‘The King of the Kickboxers’ and is thrilled to see his friends make the step into directing.
He said: “That’s the thing about our circle of friends. Everybody’s their own guy. Everybody helps everybody. The hierarchy is circular. Look, we came up with one of the best generations that have been in stunts for a long time.
“So for a bunch of us that used to get hit by cars for a living here on the red carpet, it’s pretty awesome.”

Paige Thorne plans to stay inside her ‘positive bubble’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paige Thorne is determined to stay “firmly inside” her bubble of positivity.
The reality TV star has recently faced criticism from some of her former ‘Love Island’ co-stars – but Paige insists she won’t “talk s***” about anyone else.
Appearing on the ‘Fancy A Chat?’ podcast, Paige explained: “If you’ve got to talk s*** about someone else to keep yourself relevant, that’s fine. It’s not my vibe.
“Why can’t you focus on yourself and all the positive things, rather than talk s*** about anyone else?
“I’m not about that. I’m in my little positive bubble and I stay firmly inside it. People just want to try to pop it sometimes but it’s impenetrable, so no.”
Paige also revealed how her boyfriend Adam Collard is helping her to deal with her new-found fame.
The reality star praised her boyfriend – who first starred on the show in 2018 – and admitted she’s “really enjoyed everything” about her post-‘Love Island’ life.
She said: “It is really overwhelming but Adam’s been absolutely great because he’s done it before, so he’s been taking it under my wing and helping me out.
“It’s been good. I’m glad I’ve got him to help me out because otherwise I’d be a headless chicken. I’ve really enjoyed everything so far.”
Despite this, Paige recently insisted that she’ll soon return to her job as a paramedic.
The TV star is “excited” about being reunited with her ambulance, because she “really enjoys” being a paramedic, but she also plans to do “other things” alongside the role.
She said: “I’ve got a meeting to go back to paramedic work as well, so that will be exciting. I actually saw an ambulance the other day with sirens on. I had like serious FOMO [fear of missing out]!
“I was like, ‘Get me my ambulance back!’ So I’m going to go back into that a little bit and just see what opportunities come from that.
“It’s one of those things – I genuinely just love my job. So why wouldn’t I want to go back to it? I really enjoyed it. But I’ll do other things alongside it.”

Lauren Lapkus to star in comedy Another Happy Day

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Lapkus is to executive produce and star in the postpartum comedy ‘Another Happy Day’.
The new movie will be helmed by Nora Fiffer in her feature directorial debut and is currently in production in Chicago. The plot is loosely based on her experiences of becoming a mother.
Lauren will play Joanna, a “total nut” who is so awkward about motherhood that she remarks candidly, “I’m not really a mom, I just have a baby, you know?”.
The new mother is also an artist who isn’t making any art and feels truly terrible at taking care of her newborn.
Joanna struggles to get her old job back, her friends have moved on without her while her husband thinks he’s a better mother than she is. In her desperate search for a friend, she stumbles into an unlikely bond with an estranged aunt-in-law she barely knew.
Lapkus, 36, said: “Nora’s script is so moving and funny, and getting to make this film as a new mom feels really meaningful.
“The early weeks of parenthood can be so isolating, and that can be jarring no matter how prepared you think you are for it. I think Nora has captured that feeling in a unique way and I’m really excited to share this story.”
Fiffer added: “I’ve often thought that my transition into motherhood would have been a lot easier if I’d had a clearer picture of new parenthood.
“The aim here is to capture this raw, tense, and absurd time that is so rarely represented in film.”
Inherent Films’ Jessie Holder Tourtellotte will appear alongside Lapkus in the flick and is producing. Lauren has been joined as an executive producer on the movie by Eugene Sun Park.

Carol Kirkwood fears being axed by the BBC within the next decade

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Kirkwood thinks she’ll be axed by the BBC within the next decade.
The ‘BBC Breakfast’ weather presenter isn’t keen on leaving the show – but knows “it’s going to happen” one day.
The 60-year-old broadcaster told the Western Mail: “I try not to worry about things I can’t change. I don’t want to go, but one day it’s going to happen.
“Hopefully it will be naturally, but I also have to acknowledge I’m 60 and am unlikely to be at the BBC when I’m 70, I would have thought.
“It’s the natural course of events … I don’t want to be using a stairlift to get to the studio in the morning. But I love my job.”
In May, Carol announced her engagement on TV.
Despite this, the presenter insisted that she won’t be “galloping” down the aisle anytime soon.
She said: “We’re not galloping towards it. It’s nice, because the first time I got married, I was young, so you’re involved in the wedding almost from the time you get engaged.”
Carol – who was previously married to property developer Jimmy Kirkwood – also described her fiance Steve as “funny, kind, caring and romantic”.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star said: “We got engaged when we were on holiday so it’s lovely news and we’re both thrilled. We went out for a picnic, I had no idea.
“The weather was glorious. We were sitting, chatting, my other half was a wee bit nervous for some reason that I didn’t know, he was fumbling in his pocket and out came a ring. I thought he was joking actually, I didn’t believe him to start with but it was lovely – it was quite romantic.”
