Mad Max blockbuster Furiosa shuts down production

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Furiosa’ has shut down production.
The fifth installment of the blockbuster ‘Mad Max’ series was shooting in the Sydney suburb of Kurnell when director George Miller reportedly contracted COVID-19, meaning that work on the movie will be stopped until August 15 while he endures a period of isolation.
According to The Daily Mail Australia, legendary movie maker George, 77, – who created the police officer action franchise back in the 1970s and has won him a total of six Academy Awards – is believed to have tested positive for the virus on Monday (08.08.22) and is said to be isolating at his home in Sydney.
The multi-million dollar movie sees ‘Thor’ star Chris Hemsworth take on the role of antagonist Immortan Joe as well as ‘War and Peace’ actor Tom Burke as Dr. Dementus, while ‘ The Queen’s Gambit’ star Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the title role of Imperator Furiosa.
Back in June, George – who has been married to film editor Margaret Sixel since 1995 and has sons Buda, 26, and 22-year-old Tige with her as well as daughter Augusta, 34, with ex-wife Sandy Gore – explained that he cast Anya after being particularly impressed with her triple-role in ‘Suspiria’ and hailed the 26-year-old star as one of the “wisest people” he has ever known.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “She really is something. She’s an artist and one of the wisest people I’ve ever known. It was the first
thing I thought about. In ‘Suspiria’, she played three roles, one of which is an old man, so I
thought, well, she could play one of the men (in ‘Furiosa’). But unfortunately, there was no role that she would fit. If you force a character into a film, it’s usually the first one to end up on the cutting room floor. I would never do that to her, but I definitely wanted to make it happen.”

South Park creators developed Donald Trump deepfake movie before pandemic forced change of plans

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘South Park’ creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker developed a full length deepfake Donald Trump movie.
The pair – whose 14-minute short ‘Sassy Justice’ featured a deepfake Trump voiced by Peter Serafinowicz reporting the news and was a viral hit on YouTube – had actually planned to go even further with a project they scrapped due to the pandemic.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Parker said: “Not a lot of people know that we were a day away from starting production on the first feature movie we had done since ‘Team America: World Police’.
“We were going to start shooting on the day that the pandemic shut everything down. It was months and months of getting ready for that movie, to just being like, ‘Nope, it’s over.’
“I went to the office to start packing up my things because I was just kind of in shock.”
The project – which is “on hold” due to its “very timely” nature – would have featured a nude deepfake of the former United States President.
Parker added: “It was going to be ‘Deep Fake: The Movie’. It was about this guy who looked exactly like Trump because we deep fake Trump’s face onto him.
“And it was this whole funny thing because, of course, it ends up with Trump just naked and getting run through the wringer and everything, and that’s why it was so funny and so timely.”
Stone admitted the “script was sort of timely”, but they ended up pushing on with the deepfake arm of their Deep Voodoo production studio, which led to ‘Sassy Justice’.
Serafinowicz was set to voice Trump in the film itself, while the duo aren’t ruling out the idea of revisiting the scrapped movie in the future.
Stone quipped: “I don’t know, he could be running again.”

Lioness Lauren Hemp joins Hollyoaks for exciting cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hollyoaks’ have revealed England international Lauren Hemp will make a cameo appearance.
The Lioness and Manchester City play has been on set for the Channel 4 soap with the likes of Matthew James-Bailey, Kelly Condron and Anna Passey.
Alongside a series of snaps, the soap wrote on Instagram: “Sooo… HUGE NEWS! We had a LIONESS with us yesterday, and it’s safe to say, we were living the dream!”
Lauren will play herself on the show as a coach for Kathleen-Angel’s football team following the Lionesses Euros success.
She landed the role after taking to Instagram with an additional ‘Hollyoaks’ scene which was filmed showing Nadira Valli (Ashling O’Shea) and Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) watching the end of this summer’s competition.
She explained: “I love Hollyoaks and never miss it so when they posted the scene about us on their Instagram I then shared it on my story.
“Then my agent called and said that I had been invited to come and film a scene. I can’t tell you what I replied but I shouted it down the phone! It was like a dream.
“I had two dreams in life and they’ve both happened in the last few weeks.
“It was a surreal day and I was just thinking I can’t believe I am here and people want my picture, when I was really nervous but everyone was lovely.”
Meanwhile, Lauren admitted she would “love” to reappear in the soap in a bigger role, and she has a storyline in mind.
She teased: “I’d love to come back again. I’d like to play a serial killer.”
She also explained that her ambitions after winning the Euros are focused on inspiring people to get “involved in football”.
She added: “One of our many goals as the Lionesses over the Euros was to inspire as many girls and boys as possible to be involved in football and it’s important we keep doing that so if you’re playing football then keep doing it or give it a go if you have never tried.
“I had many people in the past tell me that I couldn’t do something but its important that you believe in yourself, you don’t listen to anyone. I think this summer has proved that girls can play football too.”

Kitty Scott-Claus said ‘so many naughty things’ on Celebrity Masterchef

OHMYGOSSIP — Kitty Scott-Claus said “so many naughty things” on the set of ‘Celebrity Masterchef.’
The 30-year-old drag queen – whose real name is Louie Westwood – is set to return to screens in a celebrity edition of the BBC cooking series but “knew” that several of her jokes would be cut from the final edit and would give the crew various options in case her innuendos were not pre-watershed friendly.
She said: “Forget jokes about ‘putting a toad in the hole’ and ‘loving a bit of sausage I said so many naughty things, I knew they would be cut. In fact I used to say to the camera crews, ‘I don’t think they can use that pre-watershed… let me give you another option!
“The thing is, I had to remember where I was. I wasn’t in the clubs anymore. It’s a different crowd on the BBC, darling.
However, the TV star – who placed third in the 2021 series of ‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race’ behind Ella Vaday and Krystal Versace – admitted she was still “thrilled” to take part in ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ because she is only the second drag queen to take part after her ‘Drag Race’ alum Baga Chipz had done “so bloody badly” on the show back in 2020 and failed to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
She told The Daily Star’s HotTV Column: I was just thrilled to be asked. The only other drag queen to be on MasterChef was Baga Chipz and she did so bloody badly! I thought, ‘I’d better fake it til I make it!”
‘Celebrity Masterchef’ returns to BBC One on Wednesday (10.08.22) at 8pm and will also feature the likes of McFly singer Danny Jones and former ‘Chucklevision’ star Paul Chuckle, with Kitty’s episode set to air at a later date.

Bill Bailey raises almost £110k in memory of Sean Lock

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Bailey has raised almost £110,000 in memory of Sean Lock.
The comedian has completed a seven day, 100 mile walk along part of the South West Coast Path to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support following the death of the ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’ star in August 2021.
A GoFundMe page was set up for the event, and so far donations have reached £109,577 from 5,930 supporters.
Bill recently wrote on the page: “£100k amazing !! I can’t thank all of you enough for getting us to this incredible target.
“And a huge thanks to all our fellow walkers, all Sean’s family and friends who’ve walked every mile with me, and kept our spirits up with some great laughs, and reminiscing about Sean.”
The 57-year-old star walked from Bude in Cornwall to Combe Martin in Devon – which was one of his and Lock’s favourite treks – alongside other friends including fellow comedian Lee Mack.
Earlier this week, Bill told ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’: “I miss him all the time, everyday.
“Grief is hard to pin down, it’s not something that’s an exact science, you never know how it’s going to affect you and it can sometimes just ambush you…
“A phrase, a turn of phrase, a piece of music. Even a stretch of coastline that you walk, suddenly you get this flood of memories and that will trigger this response.”
In a previous interview on ‘This Morning’, Bill told co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby how Sean had a passion for the great outdoors, and admitted the pair always tried to make the most of their final years together by going on multiple trips.
He said: “He had been diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago and it was at the time quite a blow, particularly when it was quite advanced.
“We’ve tried to make the most of the last few years. We spent a lot of time together and went on trips together. And he’s continued to work.
“We used to walk for miles. We’d talk about everything. Sean was brilliant company.”

Faye Winter ‘still in therapy’ after Love Island backlash

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Winter is still in therapy a year after appearing on ‘Love Island’.
The 27-year-old reality star – whose sparked over 24,000 Ofcom complaints over her row with her boyfriend Teddy Soars, also 27, on the ITV2 dating show – has admitted she found the backlash “hard to deal with”.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I’m still in therapy and I think I’ll be doing it for a long time.
“I’ve always been very outspoken, I am myself, and if I need a bit of help along the way, then that’s OK.”
The influencer – who is appearing on this year’s ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ – admitted she also struggled with the reaction to her plastic surgery.
She added: “I’ve been very open and honest about what I’ve had done. The backlash was hard to deal with, I still have so many blocked words on my Instagram account and it took me a while before I could look at those words.”
And she has since started to “embrace” a more natural style, having had her lip filler reduced.
Earlier this year, Faye and Teddy – who moved in together after just three months of dating and are still going strong – quit Instagram due to racist abuse from vile trolls.
At the time, he explained: “She [Faye] gets quite a lot of racism thrown at her for being with me.
“And I was experiencing the same thing, over a kind of Q and A I think, but not to go into too much detail there, it was just something that I’ve never really expected to have any kind of trolling at all.
“It’s just there. You delete it, but you’ve got so much coming your way and I think any kind of hate, any kind of jealousy, any kind of toxicity in the world is just nasty.”
The couple finished in second place last year behind 2021 winner’s Liam Reardon and Millie Court.

Jason Momoa: ‘Conan the Barbarian reboot was turned into a big pile of s***’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa says his ‘Conan the Barbarian’ reboot was “turned into a big pile of s***”.
The 43-year-old actor hit out after critics slated the 2011 Marcus Nispel-directed project which followed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1982 action movie of the same name.
Jason, set to appear in films including ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ and ‘Fast X’ told British GQ: “I’ve been a part of a lot of things that really sucked, and movies where it’s out of your hands.
“Conan was one of them. It’s one of the best experiences I had and it was taken over and turned into a big pile of s***.”
The swords, sex and sorcery flick, released the same year Jason made his ‘Game of Thrones’ debut as Khal Drogo, was based on the books by Robert E Howard.
The author’s writing also inspired the 1982 action film of the same name that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and spawned a 1984 sequel.
Jason did not go into further detail about what specifically bothered him with how his ‘Conan the Barbarian’.
The Lionsgate release underperformed at the box office and currently holds a 25 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Among the critics who savaged the remake were The Hollywood Reporter’s Kirk Honeycutt, who said: “There is no purpose to the film other than random blood splattering amid scenes of bondage, primitive savagery and S and M eroticism.
“The film is numbing and dumb, with its hero indistinguishable from its villains.”

Ethan Coen set to solo direct lesbian road trip comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Ethan Coen is set to direct a lesbian road trip comedy.
The film will star Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanatha, both 27, with the plot centring around a party girl and her “buttoned-down” friend.
It comes after it was confirmed Ethan, 64, would be going solo without his long-time directing partner Joel, 67, who last year directed ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ without his younger sibling.
Ethan wrote the road movie script for the as yet untitled road trip film, which has reportedly been inspired by American director Russ Meyer, alongside Joel’s wife Tricia Cooke in the early 2000s.
A synopsis says: “The story centred on a party girl who takes a trip from Philadelphia to Miami with her buttoned-down friend. Cruising bars ensues as does the potpourri of a severed head in a hatbox, a bitter ex-girlfriend, a mystery briefcase and an evil senator.”
Production is set to begin this autumn after being initially announced for summer.
Qualley recently starred in Claire Denis’ Cannes feature ‘Stars at Noon’, while Viswanathan is due to start promoting ‘The Beanie Bubble’.
Joel said last year about working without his brother Ethan on ‘Macbeth’: “I spent 40 years looking over at Ethan after each shot or looking at him if there was a problem. And, so, I missed him because that wasn’t there.”
Long-time Coen Brothers composer Carter Burwell, 67, has claimed the brothers may never again make another film together.
He said: “They also have a ton of scripts they’ve written together that are sitting on various shelves. I hope maybe they get back to those.
“I’ve read some of those, and they are great. We are all at an age where we just don’t know… we could all retire. It’s a wonderfully unpredictable business.”

Die Hard director John McTiernan: ‘It wasn’t intended as Christmas film’

OHMYGOSSIP — John McTiernan has declared ‘Die Hard’ was never intended to be a Christmas movie.
The director of the 1988 flick, starring Bruce Willis as cop John McClane, gave his opinion on the long-running debate over whether it is a festive film four months before the long-running annual debate starts about how it should be categorised.
He told ‘The Empire Film Podcast’ even though it “wasn’t intended as a Christmas movie” it is up to fans to decide.
John, 71, said: “It’s not for us to say, it’s people. It’s for the audience to say. If the audience decides they want to make it a Christmas movie, it’s a Christmas movie. It turns out that way.
“It wasn’t intended as a Christmas movie, or the fact that it was deliberately built around Christmas, but not intended to be a Christmas movie.
“But the fact that it was a Christmas movie had a lot to do with, you know, cause it’s actually, from a distance, politically very strident, and the only reason that survived was that the people in the studio who would have stopped that were deceived because they thought it was just an action movie about a Christmas party that goes wrong.”
His reference about the film being “politically strident” has already sparked debate among fans about whether it is political or religious in its themes.
Some think the film is about global international relations and women’s place in the workplace.
Others have theories McClane is a Jesus-style character, with evidence including he kills 12 terrorists, there are multiple mentions of Jesus and Christ in the film and it features two pregnant women – Sergeant Powell’s wife and Holly’s assistant Ginny.
Some fans also think the fact McClane runs around in white in bare feet is a reference to him being Christ-like and more proof ‘Die Hard’ is a Christmas movie.
Others think it is simply an action film.

Lewis Hamilton turned down ‘Top Gun Maverick’ role in most ‘upsetting’ call of his life

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Hamilton has revealed he was forced to turn down a role in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ – in one of the most “upsetting” phone calls of his life.
The 37-year-old racing driver had asked Tom Cruise, 60, for a part when a sequel to the 1986 blockbuster was first announced.
Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis said he dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot after seeing Top Gun as a child and wanted a role in the follow up – even if was playing a “cleaner in the back”.
He told Vanity Fair: “Basically I’m a friend of Tom. One of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
“When I heard the second one was coming out, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I have to ask him’.”
When the role on offer turned out to be meatier than Lewis had hoped, he realised filming would clash with the Formula One season, so had to choose racing for Mercedes.
He added he knew filming with Tom, who plays Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the sequel, would take up too much of his time and he would have struggled to fit it in as he is a “perfectionist” when it comes to his sport.
He said the conversation with Tom and director Joseph Kosinski to turn down the role was “the most upsetting call that I think I’ve ever had”.
Lewis is now set to work behind the scenes on a new Formula One film, as he has been named executive producer on an untitled film that will be directed by Kosinski and Brad Pitt.

Nicola Walker feels ‘guilty’ over devastating Unforgotten exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Walker feels “guilty” over her ‘Unforgotten’ exit storyline.
The 52-year-old actress – whose character DCI Cassie Stuart was killed off in a car accident – thinks the ITV crime drama’s writers would have handled her departure differently if they’d known the pandemic was on the way.
She told Radio Times magazine: “If we’d known Covid was coming, we would have given people a less depressing storyline.
“I feel guilty because, when it came out, I thought: ‘Crikey, we could have given them something more cheerful. The last thing they need is to be made to feel really sad about this brilliant cop.’ ”
The series is set to return for its fifth season – although a release date is yet to be announced – with Sinead Keenan joiing the cast as DCI Jessica James, who will join as Sunny Khan’s (Sanjeev Bhaskar) new partner.
Meanwhile, the cast will also be bolstered by new additions including the likes of ‘Silent Witness’ actor Rhys Yates as Jay, The Bay’s Martina Laird as Bele, ‘Derry Girls’ star Ian McElhinney as Tony, and Jeryll and Hyde’s Max Rinehart as Karol.
Sanjeev previously addressed her co-star’s surprise exit and admitted she “felt slightly sick” throughouht the entire process, describing the storyline as “very upsetting”.
She said: “When I first heard, I had a very similar reaction to when I then read it in the script, and then a similar reaction again when we filmed it, which is I felt slightly sick. It was a shock.
“I think Nicola and Chris [Lang, creator] had been talking about where Cassie Stuart’s storyline would go, so I wasn’t party to that.
“I mean, it’s a huge thing to do and so it made sense dramatically, but yeah, it’s very upsetting actually.”

And while the pair haven’t moved in with each other just yet, it’s on the cards for later in 2022.

Alison Hammond tipped to host Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond is tipped to be the new host of ‘Big Brother’.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter – who shot to fame after appearing on the third season of the reality show in 2002 – is said to be at the top of producer’s lists to follow in the footsteps of Davina McCall, Brian Dowling and Emma Willis in fronting the show when it returns to screens on ITV2 next year.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Alison is top of the list to present next year’s Big Brother. Execs think she’s exactly what the show needs. She’s energetic, fun, relatable and she was on the show, so she knows it inside out.”
The 47-year-old star, who was second to be voted off her series after just 15 days, previously admitted she’d love to host the programme.
Asked if she thought she’d make a good ‘Big Brother’ host before it was announced the show was returning, she said: “I think so. They need to change it up a bit. We’ve got to put it out there to the universe. Let’s make it happen.”
An ITV spokesperson insisted no decisions have been made as yet.
They said: “All suggestions surrounding the host are pure speculation and absolutely no decisions have been made at this early stage.”

He said: “I live and breathe ‘Big Brother’, I’ve got a diary room in my house.”
He later tweeted: “Should clarify. I’ve not been asked to host the show.

Sid Owen returning to EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Sid Owen is returning to ‘EastEnders’.
The 50-year-old actor has agreed to make a full-time return as mechanic Ricky Butcher – who was last seen in Walford in 2012 before leaving for Germany – and will start shooting scenes alongside Charlie Brooks, who plays his on-screen sister Janine, and Kim Medcalf as his ex-wife Sam Mitchell next month.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Bosses have an exciting storyline planned for his return, involving lots of key players.
“Ricky is an iconic character from Albert Square’s early days, and has been hugely popular over the decades. He has lots of unfinished business.
“The sky’s the limit for script writers. An autumn of bumper storylines is on the cards.”
Sid – who first appeared on the show in 1988 – is believed to be one of a number of past stars that producers are hoping to tempt back to Albert Square after ratings dropped to their lowest ever in June, with just 1.38 million tuning in.
The source added: “Producers want to return the soap to its former glory so the strategy is bring back some of the veterans, fan favourites and drama.
“Over the years there’s been a bit of a bloodbath of main roles so bosses have had to work out which characters are still alive and who can realistically return. Ricky fits the bill.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant – who has seven-month-old daughter Skye with fiancee Victoria Shores – admitted last year he would “never say never” to the possibility of returning to the soap.
He said: “Hopefully if the door’s still open — never say never. It’s a huge part of my life, and people love the character.”
