Emma Willis rules herself out of hosting new Big Brother series

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Willis will not host the new ‘Big Brother’ series.
The 46-year-old star admitted she “loved [her] time on the show” but confirmed she has “said goodbye” to the programme, which is returning on ITV2 and ITVX next year, after hosting the Channel 5 series and the celebrity version from 2013 until its end in 2018.
When asked if she would return to ‘Big Brother’ on ITV2, she said: “No. I think with every new era of ‘Big Brother’, I think there should be a new host.
“You know, I loved my time on the show, and I very much kind of said goodbye to it back then because we thought it was over. I don’t tend to go back. I like to move forward.”
Emma believes the show should have a new presenter at the helm.
She added to RadioTimes.com: “I think it’s right. It’s starting again, it’s got a new home – it should have a new host.”
Before landing the main job on ‘Big Brother’, Emma presented spin-off show ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’.
Rylan Clark went on to land the solo presenting job on the spin-off programme, which he held until the show’s end in 2018, after Emma won her promotion to the main show, and he is now the bookmakers’ odds-on favourite to front the new main series.
The 33-year-old star is 8/11 with Sky Bet to be the host of the first episode of ITV2’s ‘Big Brother’.
But the some-time ‘This Morning’ presenter faces stiff competition from Alison Hammond, who co-hosts the brunch-time show every Friday alongside former ‘Big Brother’s Little Brother’ presenter Dermot O’Leary, who hosted the spin-off show from 2001 to 2008.
Alison is 2/1 with Sky Bet to be the new ‘Big Brother’ presenter, and last week it was reported she was at the top of producer’s lists to follow in the footsteps of Davina McCall, Brian Dowling and Emma in fronting the show.
A source said: “Alison is top of the list to present next year’s Big Brother. Execs think she’s exactly what the show needs. She’s energetic, fun, relatable and she was on the show, so she knows it inside out.”
An ITV spokesperson insisted no decisions have been made as yet.
They said: “All suggestions surrounding the host are pure speculation and absolutely no decisions have been made at this early stage.”

Twilight director regrets turning down Taylor Swift cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift was rejected for a cameo in ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’.
The 2009 movie’s director Chris Weitz has claimed the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker was keen to land a part in the motion picture because she was a huge fan of the film franchise, but he thought her cameo might be too distracting.
He said: “Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time and he said, ‘Taylor would like to be in this movie – not because of you, but she’s a Twi-hard.’
“The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything.”
Weitz says Swift’s agent insisted she would be happy to play “someone at the cafeteria, or the diner or whatever”, she just wanted to be in the movie.
He now regrets his decision to turn her down, because he could’ve formed a friendship with her.
But Weitz insists he made the decision for the “best of the film”.
Speaking on ‘The Twilight Effect’ podcast, he added: “I kick myself for it too, because – I was like, ‘Wow, I could’ve been hanging out with Taylor Swift.’
“She must have been like, ‘Who is this jerk?’ But sometimes you make decisions thinking this is for the best of the film.”
While she didn’t rub shoulders with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner in the second film in ‘The Twilight Saga’ movie series, she is to star opposite Christian Bale, Robert De Niro, Margot Robbie, Rami Malek, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, and Michael Shannon in forthcoming film ‘Amsterdam’.
Swift will play a supporting role as a grieving woman in the period-mystery comedy movie.

Adam Collard ‘attacked’ on night out

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Collard has been “physically attacked” on a night out.
The ‘Love Island’ star was enjoying an evening out in his native Newcastle with his girlfriend Paige Thorne – who he fell for during the ITV2 dating show – and some friends when a large group of guys started “aggressively harassing them”, and Adam and his pals are said to have been “extremely shaken up” by the alleged incident.
A spokesman for Adam said: “Adam was trying to enjoy a quiet night in his hometown with friends when a large group of men began aggressively harassing them.
“Despite several attempts to diffuse the situation, the men continued to become more aggressive and started physically attacking Adam.
“Understandably, Adam and his friends were extremely shaken up by the situation and felt it was best to leave and we’re safely escorted by the security team outside. No further action has been taken.”
Police were not called to the bar regarding the incident.
An onlooker has also claimed someone started to “rip” Adam’s top off.
They told The Sun newspaper: “It happened shortly after midnight. Adam and Paige were just on a night, it wasn’t an official appearance or anything.
“Everyone was trying to crowd him and I think they were trying to crowd Paige and Adam wasn’t happy at all which was understandable.
“Then people started to rip his top off and it all kicked off.
“It’s no surprise he wanted to defend himself and was obviously looking out for Paige as well.
“They were just out a drink together with friends and they didn’t need that hassle.
“The bouncers came over and it finally calmed down and Adam and Paige left after that.”
Paige recently revealed Adam – who first starred on ‘Love Island’ in 2018 – has been helping her to deal with her new-found fame.
She said: “It is really overwhelming but Adam’s been absolutely great because he’s done it before, so he’s been taking it under my wing and helping me out.
“It’s been good. I’m glad I’ve got him to help me out because otherwise I’d be a headless chicken. I’ve really enjoyed everything so far.”
Despite this, Paige recently insisted she’ll soon return to her job as a paramedic.
She said: “I actually saw an ambulance the other day with sirens on. I had like serious FOMO [fear of missing out]!
“I was like, ‘Get me my ambulance back!’ So I’m going to go back into that a little bit and just see what opportunities come from that.
“It’s one of those things – I genuinely just love my job. So why wouldn’t I want to go back to it? I really enjoyed it. But I’ll do other things alongside it.”

Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook and Damon Herriman join The Bikeriders cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook and Damon Herriman have joined ‘The Bikeriders’.
The trio have signed up to star in the movie from director Jeff Nichols which already has Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy on board.
Nichols is directing the movie, with the story inspired by the photography of Danny Lyon and his 1967 book ‘The Bikeriders’.
The flick is an original tale set in the 1960s and follows the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club. Seen through the lives of the members, the club evolves over the decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang.
Sarah Green and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones are producing though Tri-State – the company they share with Nichols – alongside New Regency. Fred Berger is executive producing the film.
Holbrook has been cast in the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and revealed that he is feeling a “little bit” nervous about how fans will react to the film.
The 40-year-old actor said: “It’s kind of like a childhood dream. And you could feel a little bit of that pressure, but I try not to go down those roads. I really just focus on the job at hand.”
Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Indy in the movie and Boyd has been impressed by what he has seen from the 80-year-old star on set.
He said: “Harrison Ford is ripping and roaring. Age ain’t nothing but a number to this man.”
James Mangold has taken over from Steven Spielberg behind the camera for the new film and Boyd claims that his “precise” approach to directing will make the movie successful.
The actor explained: “We’ve got Jim Mangold directing the film, and the guy just can’t make a bad movie. He is so precise in what he does.”

Lily James and Willem Dafoe cast in Finally Dawn

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily James and Willem Dafoe are to star in ‘Finally Dawn’.
The pair have joined the cast of the indie drama that will be directed by Saverio Constanzo while Rachel Sennott and Rebecca Antonac are also starring.
Plot details for the film are not yet known and production is set to begin at some point this month in Italy.
Lily has had a busy year after playing ‘Baywatch’ icon Pamela Anderson in the Hulu series ‘Pam and Tommy’, which earned her an Emmy nomination. Her other recent credits include ‘The Dig’ and ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’.
James is also starring in the movie ‘Providence’ alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Himesh Patel.
The story follows the eclectic residents of a picturesque town who must navigate a sensational murder and the discovery of a million dollars while a series of increasingly bad decisions has an impact on the once-peaceful community.
Lily previously explained how she felt a huge sense of responsibility when playing Pamela Anderson as she was bringing a real person to life on screen.
The 33-year-old actress said: “It’s always such a huge responsibility to play someone, a real person, particularly with Pam, she’s such an icon.
“I really love her, and I wanted to try and do her justice and try and capture her spirit and really explore what happened at that time and how she was treated and how things have changed, or not changed.”
The series explores Pamela’s whirlwind romance and the release of her sex tape with rock star Tommy Lee – played by Sebastian Stan in the show – and Lily explained the physical transformation she had to undergo to play the part.
The ‘Downton Abbey’ star said: “I obviously do not look like Pamela. So, it took a lot of work, but it meant that I was able to believe myself in the role.
“When I looked at Sebastian, and I know when he looked at me, it was just so exciting, because we felt so in character and we really forgot ourselves.”

Amol Rajan to take over as host of University Challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Amol Rajan will take over from Jeremy Paxman as the host of ‘University Challenge’.
The 39-year-old journalist and broadcaster will front the show from autumn 2023 onwards – after Jeremy announced this week he is leaving the quiz show – and Amol admits he has watched the programme “obsessively for years”.
He said: “Being asked to host my favourite TV programme is dream-come-true territory.
“I have watched ‘University Challenge’ obsessively for years, addicted to its high standards, glorious title music, and inspirational contestants.
“It’s the best possible antidote to cynicism about young people, allowing millions of us to test our wits against the best minds of a new generation, and annoy and impress our families by barking answers from the sofa.”
Amol admits he has “vast shoes to fill” in taking over from Jeremy on the show, which was originally hosted by Bamber Gascoigne from 1962 to 1987.
He added: “I am very conscious that in the late, great Bamber, and that giant of British culture, Jeremy, I have vast shoes to fill. With his immense intellect, authority, and respect from students and viewers alike, Jeremy hands over a format, and show, as strong as ever.
“I won’t stop thinking today about my late, beloved Dad, whose devotion to Education brought him to England, whose love of Knowledge I imbibed as a kid, and whose belief in the noble challenge of university so shaped my life. I’ll devote my first Starter for 10 to him – and to the millions of quiz fiends who, like me, love those rare occasions when they know the answer before the students do.”
Peter Gwyn, Executive Producer of ‘University Challenge’, added: “The ‘University Challenge’ production team is thrilled to be working with Amol as he takes the programme forward next year.
“We’ve long admired him as an outstanding journalist and broadcaster – especially as he had the guts to play for his own college in our Christmas series a few years ago!”
Earlier this week, Jeremy said he had a “blast” leading the show for more than 28 years.
The 72-year-old broadcaster said: “I’ve had a blast hosting this wonderful series for nearly 29 years.
“I’ve been lucky enough to work with an amazing team and to meet some of the swottier brains in the country. It gives me hope for the future.”

Matt Goss’ pooch problem

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Goss says leaving his dog in America is “tough”, as he prepares to compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The Bros star is finding it very difficult after leaving his pet pooch – a French bulldog named Reggie, after gangster Reggie Kray – behind in the US, admitting there has been too much red tape to get through for his canine companion to join him in the UK, and his four-legged friend isn’t a great flyer due to “breathing difficulties”.
The 53-year-old singer told The Sun newspaper: “Leaving Reggie in America has been tough.I know having him here will put a swing in my step on the ‘Strictly’ stage.
“The problem in getting Reggie to the UK is logistics and there’s also quarantine.
“Reggie’s breed also have breathing difficulties so it may be difficult for him to travel in the hold or be in the hold for long periods.”
Matt – who relied on Reggie for company during the COVID-19 lockdown – has “dreamt” of gallivanting around the capital with his canine pal since he acquired him.
He said: “I’ve dreamt of having him by my side, walking through London parks, since he was eight weeks old.
“I’d like to thank everyone who is helping to get his return over the line. It means so much to me.
“Having him in the UK will make my home feel incredible.”
Earlier this month, the ‘When Will I Be Famous’ hitmaker admitted he is “looking forward” to taking to the dancefloor for the BBC One Latin and ballroom contest, which will also feature celebs such as ‘EastEnders’ star James Bye and former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Kym Marsh.
Matt said: “I am looking forward to being home and meeting new people.
“I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down.”

Pop Idol to return?

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV are said to be considering bringing ‘Pop Idol’ back.
Bosses at the channel are looking at rebooting the Noughties singing talent competition – which ran for two seasons with judges Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman, Dr Neil Fox, and Nicki Chapman, and was hosted by Ant and Dec – to celebrate the show’s 21st anniversary.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “With ‘Gladiators’ and ‘Big Brother’ returning, it is a no-brainer to bring back another hit.”
Currently, the plan is to produce a reunion special with a retrospective from the judging panel and contestants – which could include winners Will Young and Michelle McManus, along with breakout star Gareth Gates – later this year.
The source said: “There have been talks about a reunion special as a one off – nothing more.”
Another insider explained to the newspaper that “absolutely nothing is confirmed” but brought doubts about the show – which was replaced by ‘The X Factor’, which ran from 2004 to 2018 – returning in its original format, saying “it would be unlikely to return as a full series”.
In May, Will – who since clinching victory on the first edition of the programme has gone on to have a successful career in the music and theatre – spoke out about rumours of the show’s potential return.
The 43-year-old pop star said: “I have heard the rumours, yes, but I don’t know anything concrete. I think it would be fun, if it was done in the right way.
“Because there’s no ‘X Factor’, it’d be brilliant. There was only ever two series of ‘Pop Idol’, so it could be interesting. A laugh.
“There would have to be a wellbeing coach, or something there, for me to do it, to make sure everything was done properly.
“If I was offered it, that’s what I would say, I would only do it if there was – it’s such a big part of what I do now, I couldn’t do it and not feel that people are being looked after.”

Strictly Come Dancing ‘shelve plans to host episode at Buckingham Palace in 2022’

OHMYGOSSIP — Plans to host a ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ episode at Buckingham Palace are said to have been shelved.
BBC bosses are thought to have been looking into the possibility of heading to the royal residence for a special episode, but is looks unlikely to happen this year.
A source said: “There has been a lot of back and forth about different ideas and different possibilities … but the likelihood is that it’s probably not possible to pull off an episode in the Palace in the time frame.”
Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are known to be huge fans of the Latin and ballroom show, and ‘Strictly’ producers are thought to be hopeful the programme can head to the Palace in 2023 instead.
The source added to the Daily Mail newspaper: “If we can’t do it this year, the hope is that we will do it next year.”
In July, ‘Strictly’ head judge Shirley Ballas admitted she would love to see a member of the royal family compete on the show.
She said: “Somebody from the royal family would be rather nice!”
But the 61-year-old Queen of Latin is not the first member of the judging panel who has expressed a wish for a royal to appear on ‘Strictly’.
Craig Revel Horwood, 57, previously revealed he’d like to see Camilla on the judging panel.
He said: “When it comes to my dream new judge – well, it’s got to be my friend the Duchess of Cornwall.
“I’ve been desperate to get a royal on the show. Camilla could be just wonderful.”
Craig is a close pal of Camilla and previously spilled that she is a big fan of the show.
He said: “She loves the show. She absolutely adores it.”

Matt Goss promises to bring ‘inappropriate humour’ to Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Goss plans to bring his “inappropriate sense of humour” to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The Bros star has signed up for the new series of the long-running TV show, and Matt has promised that he’ll be his real-life self when the cameras start rolling.
He explained: “I make all my mates laugh, I have a really inappropriate sense of humour. I’m hoping I can let some of that out of me.
“I don’t like the whole politically correct thing. I think this nation is far too funny to be PC. Obviously always be respectful and kind but we have to take the p*** out of each other.
“We’ve become a little afraid in the last five years, can we say this, can we do this. It’s got a bit out of hand.
“Even speed limits – 20mph. We’re going back to the same speed as horse and carriage. Creating all these rules breaks the spirit of people.”
Matt, 53, has recently returned home to the UK after living in the US for many years, and the singer thinks joining ‘Strictly’ is the perfect way to mark his homecoming.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve been asked to do it a couple of times before but I thought if I’m coming back to the UK to live, let me take a big old leap of faith.”
Despite this, Matt suggested he’ll be taking a relatively conservative approach with his ‘Strictly’ outfits.
The singer – who stars in Bros alongside his twin brother Luke – shared: “I’m sure there’s many more fitter guys than me. I don’t think I’m anywhere near the top of that list. I got naked for ‘Celebrity Juice’ and I don’t think that was pretty.”

Dame Sheila Hancock: I was sacked from Celebrity Gogglebox

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Sheila Hancock claims she was sacked from ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’.
The 89-year-old actress left the Channel 4 show after just one series in 2019, despite entertaining fans of the programme with her no-nonsense views and her on-screen chemistry with her pal Gyles Brandreth, and the star believes she may have paid the price for being “too rude”.
Reflecting on her time on the show, Sheila shared: “I loved every minute of it. I got the sack from that actually.
“They didn’t ask me back for some reason – I suppose because I was too rude about some of the things I saw.”
The actress also confessed to being caught off-guard by some of the content she watched for the show.
She told BBC Radio 2: “I, honest to God, had not seen most of the programmes they showed us – like, all those where everyone was showing off their private parts.
“And I was deeply shocked, quite genuinely overwhelmed by the whole thing.”
Gyles previously admitted that watching ‘Naked Attraction’ alongside Sheila was “hilarious”.
The 74-year-old broadcaster has also starred on ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ alongside Dame Maureen Lipman and he relished that experience, too.
He shared: “I did it first with Sheila Hancock and they made her a dame. I then did it with Maureen Lipman and they made her a dame.
“My wife says the Queen is rewarding them for being locked in my company.
“Sheila was amazing. Sitting there watching ‘Naked Attraction’ with an 89-year-old was hilarious. And Maureen now comes round to watch the telly, even when we’re not filming it.”

Davide Sanclimenti reveals how he will spend part of 25k Love Island winnings

OHMYGOSSIP — Davide Sanclimenti is planning to use part of his £25,000 ‘Love Island’ winnings to buy a holiday for his mum.
The 27-year-old Italian businessman scooped one half of the £50,000 prize money after he and girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu triumphed on the latest series of the ITV2 dating show, and the couple want to take their mothers on a trip to New York.
Speaking on Capital XTRA, he said: “I’m going to buy a trip for my mum.
“We are thinking we will go to New York with me and Ekin and our mums.”
As well as winning her £25,000 part of the prize, Ekin-Su is also said to have put pen to paper on a fashion deal with brand Oh Polly worth more than £1 million following her ‘Love Island’ victory.
A source told The Sun Online: “After speaking with all of the major fashion brands Ekin-Su wanted to work with a brand that aligned to her own values of sustainability and therefore decided against signing to a fast fashion brand.
“She is the most in demand ‘Love Island’ star ever.
“There’s a pretty well-trodden path for ‘Love Island’ winners. Over the past seven series it’s the usual fast fashion, drugstore make-up and then, of course, teeth whitening and protein shakes.”
It has also been reported that Ekin-Su is being lined up for a potential ‘Loose Women’ role.
A source said: “There are talks for Ekin-Su to join the panel – she’d be great.
“She was very naturally funny, open and honest, and that’s what they want. She came across as really fun and genuine and she really impressed everyone.
“The ‘Loose Women’ ladies also loved her. She really would be great as a regular panellist.”
The Turkish soap star recently admitted she thought runners-up Gemma Owen and Luca Bish were actually going to win this year’s series.
She explained: “I thought because they had it from the start and they were cute together and I wanted them to win and they’re great.”

Michelle Yeoh, Stanley Tucci and Brian Cox board The Electric State

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Yeoh, Stanley Tucci, Brian Cox and more have boarded ‘The Electric State’.
The cast of the hotly-anticipated science-fiction movie from Anthony and Joe Russo just grew even bigger, with the iconic Malaysian actress, ‘Devil Wears Prada’ star and ‘Succession’ actor, respectively, among the new additions.
According to Deadline, Brian and ‘Venom’ Jenny Slate will voice CGI characters in the flick.
‘Seinfeld’ star Jason Alexander is also part of the ensemble.
Filming is due to commence later this year.
Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt were the first names attached to star in the motion picture.
‘The Electric State’ is based on Simon Stalenhag’s illustrated novel of the same name. It is set in an alternative future and tells the story of a teenager (Brown), who sets out with a robot to find her missing brother.
The Russo siblings said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to have this deal with Universal who has committed to a theatrical release of ‘Electric State.’ This is incredible news for us as filmmakers, and for audiences around the world who want an opportunity to experience films in theatres again. This is also a positive sign that, as vaccines become available, the theatrical market is returning.”
It follows the pair’s big-budget spy film for Netflix, ‘The Gray Man’, starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
And the brothers recently revealed the film launched a franchise.
Joe said: “What we’re doing on ‘Gray Man’ that’s different [is] … we’re not gonna answer every question in the first movie. This is being conceived as a series of films, and again, potentially branching out, we could follow other characters, but we’re not gonna answer every question in the movie.
“So you’re gonna finish the movie, [and] have a complete story, but you’re still gonna have questions about the wider universe. And I think that’s one way to break the model a little bit, is to not give the audience everything in one film. Don’t have a close-ended narrative. Have an open-ended narrative that’s [like] a chapter in a book.”
The action thriller follows a former CIA operative turned freelance assassin named Court Gentry (Gosling) – who is also known as the Gray Man – who is hunted across the globe by his former CIA cohort Lloyd Hansen (Evans).

Could Reese Witherspoon’s lookalike daughter Ava appear in Legally Blonde 3?

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling would love to see Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava Phillippe in ‘Legally Blonde 3’.
The ‘Mindy Project’ creator is co-writing the script for the third movie about the beloved blonde lawyer, Elle Woods, played by Reese, 46.
And after working with the Hollywood star’s 18-year-old son Deacon Phillippe on his acting debut in season three of her Netflix comedy-drama ‘Never Have I Ever’, the comedian admitted it would be a “joy” to see his 22-year-old sibling in the movie with her mom.
Speaking to Extra, she said: “Listen, I think I can do anything, and if that’s something she wanted to do, what a joy to have her in that.”
The 43-year-old scribe hailed Deacon “so funny” and “talented” and revealed he sent her a touching handwritten note thanking her for making his time on set special.
She added: “He’s so funny, so talented. He’s obviously, like, very handsome, and we had a great time with him on set, and he is like his mom where after he wrapped, he sent me a handwritten note, thanking me for being on set. You could just tell Reese is his mom. You’re just like, ‘Oh, you’re a good person. I can’t imagine anyone saying a bad thing about you. You’re one of those.’ ”
Deacon and Ava’s dad Ryan Phillippe, 47, recently gushed about how “proud” he is of his teenage son after he followed his mom and dad into acting.
The ‘Cruel Intentions’ star said: “I am so proud.”
In 2020, Deacon released his debut single, ‘Long Run’, a duet with pop star Nina Nesbitt, while he recently shared a mixtape.
And his father insisted he is more focused on his music than acting and is even studying it at college.
He added that Deacon is attending “college for music. That’s his primary focus. The acting thing he likes to do, and he will do according to what his appetite for it is, but his focus is primarily music.”
