Gemma Owen signs six-figure PLT deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Owen has signed a six-figure deal with PrettyLittleThing.
The 19-year-old ‘Love Island’ runner-up was offered the mega deal by PLT founder Umar Kamani following a series of meetings this month and Gemma called the collaboration a “dream come true”.
She told MailOnline: “This really is a dream come true for me. I wore PrettyLittleThing throughout my time on the show and now being announced as one of their newest ambassadors alongside some incredible talent including ‘Love Island’ alumni is really special.
“The team has been amazing and I’m excited to get to work and start designing some collections for you all.”
Kamani said: “Gemma is the perfect person to represent the PLT consumer; she’s smart, confident, ambitious and has a much loved, relatable style.
“We’re very excited to have her joining the PLT family and look forward to sharing lots of exciting content, collections, and shoots with our customers.”
Gemma is the first UK brand ambassador for PrettyLittleThing since 2019 ‘Love Island’ runner-up Molly-Mae Hague, who now the brand’s creative director.
Gemma – who came second on the show with partner Luca Bish – will be designing her own PLT collections and helping the brand to launch its new resale platform PLT Marketplace.
She will also be creating exclusive content across PLT’s social media channels.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Gemma and Luca are practically living together.
The star has been staying with the 23-year-old fishmonger while working in London since the pair came out of the ‘Love Island’ villa, but Gemma – who is from Cheshire – admitted they are looking at getting an apartment “up north”.
Asked if she is planning to move in with her boyfriend soon, she said: “I’m based quite a bit down in London with work so I’ve been staying with him. We’re pretty much moved in with each other … wherever we go, we’re following each other.
“I think he’s keen to look at an apartment up north, so we can have a base. So yeah, in the near future definitely.”

Andrew Le Page planning Tasha Ghouri proposal

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Le Page is planning to propose to Tasha Ghouri after she changed her mind about having kids.
The 27-year-old estate agent admitted that he saw himself marrying 23-year-old dancer Tasha – who he met in the ‘Love Island’ villa – in the future but now that she has decided she wants children with him, he thinks they will wed sooner rather than later.
He told OK!: At the start of the process, Tasha told me she didn’t want kids. I said, ‘That’s cool, it’s not a deal breaker for me,’ and then five days before the baby challenge, she sat me down and said, ‘I can actually see myself having kids with you one day.’
“I was very surprised as it was such a change, but I was obviously very happy. I couldn’t stop smiling.
“I’m not going to lie it has, definitely. I love everything about Tasha. I don’t think I’ll be waiting four years if it carries on like this.”
Tasha added: “When my mum and dad came in and I was speaking to them about it, even they were shocked as they knew how much I didn’t want to have kids, but they can see how happy I am.
“It just goes to show that if you meet the right person your opinion can change. Now I’ve met Andrew and I can see it happening. You know when you have a vision in your head of your life further down the line? I can see it sometimes. It has changed because of Andrew.”
And Tasha says their relationship has only gotten stronger since they left the ‘Love Island’ villa.
She said: “We’re literally two peas in a pod. We’ve got a lot stronger. I think not having the pressure of being in the villa, the cameras or being around people has really taken the pressure off.
“We’ve started to be more ourselves around each other and it’s felt natural.”

Jerry Bruckheimer claims authenticity is behind the success of Top Gun: Maverick

OHMYGOSSIP — Jerry Bruckheimer believes the authenticity of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has made the film so successful.
The ‘Top Gun’ sequel has grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office and is the highest-grossing film of Tom Cruise’s career and producer Bruckheimer feels that the cast putting themselves through fighter jet training has contributed to the movie’s popularity.
Jerry told Entertainment Weekly: “It’s always the characters, the themes, the story.
“That’s what it’s all about; it’s about the emotion, it’s about bringing Iceman back, it’s about seeing a real movie.
“You’re in the F-18 just like those actors are. They were trained for three months to be able to get into an F-18… You can see the struggles of what they’re doing, what they’re going through. That’s all real, that’s not made-up.”
Jerry, who has produced movies such as ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ and ‘Pearl Harbor’ during his career, feels that audiences have become bored of CGI and claims that the ‘Top Gun’ sequel gave them the “real deal”.
The 78-year-old producer explained: “I think audiences have been seeing so much CGI, which is wonderful, I go see the same movies, but it’s also nice to see the real deal, and to be a part of a camaraderie of characters that get up in the sky and have to be as good as they can be.
“The audiences love the Marvel stuff, they love the DC stuff. They’re beautifully made by really talented people. Sometimes you want to see something that’s real, and that’s what ‘Top Gun’ gave us.”
Jerry added: “These aviators are out protecting our country right now, flying around the world, and you’re taking a ride with them. You’re seeing what they do, you’re seeing what their life is like, and the trials and tribulations that they have to go through. You’re actually experiencing it with our actors.”

Sam Heughan set for Days Gone role

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Heughan is set to play the lead role in the movie version of the video game ‘Days Gone’.
The ‘Outlander’ star has been tapped to feature in the film that is being developed by the movie division of Sony PlayStation Productions, with Sheldon Turner adapting the game for the big screen.
The development of the film follows the release of ‘Uncharted’ earlier this year, which starred Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg and is based on the gaming franchise of the same name, that turned out to be a box-office success.
‘Days Gone’ was created by Bend Studio and is set in the Pacific Northwest following a devastating global pandemic. It chronicles former motorcycle club member Deacon St. John as he fights to survive in a world of despair and mutated humans in an attempt to find the long-lost love of his life.
Sam will play the role of Deacon and Turner’s script is set to be a love ballad to motorcycle movies, the bike being Deacon’s lone form of transport.
Turner and Jennifer Klein are producing for their Vendetta Productions company, while Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan are producing for Sony PlayStation Productions.
Sam plays Jamie Fraser in the historical drama series ‘Outlander’ and has also been tipped as a possible successor to Daniel Craig as James Bond. He previously revealed that he would jump at the chance to play 007 if the opportunity arose.
The 42-year-old actor said: “I don’t think any actor would ever say no. If I was asked to audition for it, I would be delighted.”
Sam previously suggested that it is time for another Scottish Bond to follow in the footsteps of the late Sir Sean Connery.
He said: “I’d be the first Scottish [since Sean Connery]. I think it would definitely be time for another Scottish Bond.”

Martin Clunes rules out Men Behaving Badly return

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Clunes has ruled out a ‘Men Behaving Badly’ return.
The 60-year-old actor starred as Gary Strang, alongside Neil Morrissey’s Tony Smart in the ‘laddish’ nineties comedy and Martin believes audiences would not connect with the misogynistic characters today.
He told Saga magazine: “God, no. Not these days. I mean we talked about things like Kylie Minogue’s buttocks and compared them to a racehorse’s. How could we do that now?”
Martin’s comments come after his co-star Neil previously said the show “isn’t woke enough” to return.
The 59-year-old actor thinks his womanising character would have to become “completely woke” if a new series of the show was to ever materialise.
He said: “It’s all about the script. If Simon [Nye] writes something marvellous, we’d obviously have a look at it.
“I don’t know if we could make it again now, though. It’s not woke enough is it? Putting ladies’ underpants on my head … things like that.
“I guess Leslie [Ash] was objectified a bit by my character. But that was the point of it – that we were really rubbish, and they were really cool and smart. We were a couple of misogynist idiots who couldn’t keep a job, let alone a girlfriend.
“I don’t know if it would work [now], but it would be fun trying. The way to do it would be to have the wokeness involved, in that Tony is so PC it’s unbelievable. They would just have to have lapses after several beers on the sofa.”
The show, which ran for six seasons, also featured Leslie Ash, 62, as Deborah Burton and Caroline Quentin, 61, as Dorothy Bishop, the pair’s girlfriends.

Matt Goss believes Brosettes will be key to Strictly success

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Goss thinks Bros fans will help him win ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 53-year-old star was the lead singer of 1980s pop group Bros, which also featured his twin brother Luke as the drummer, and Matt believes the band’s Brosettes will be his secret weapon in his bid to win the glitterball trophy.
Matt told the Daily Star newspaper: “The Brosettes have been around for more than 30 years. They are superfans.
“After all this time you get to know their names and who they are.
“And they have been a huge part of our story so you care about them.
“Sometimes when we arrive at an airport, they are there and out of 100 people you recognise 70 of them. It’s a nice feeling.”
Meanwhile, Matt recently revealed he celebrated his return to Britain by drinking with Beefeaters in the Tower of London.
The star is returning home after more than a decade in Las Vegas, and Matt has revealed he celebrated his comeback by enjoying some pints in the London landmark.
He shared: “I went to a mate’s at the Tower of London. I have a couple of Yeoman friends.
“There is a pub inside the Tower where you can have a pint. There are fewer Yeomen than there are people in space.
“They do come, undercover, to the shows, they come to Vegas.
“I have been there for 11 years, four shows a week, and on stage everyone is equal.
“Everyone gets treated exactly the same. I think that is how I have met so many people from so many walks of life.”
Matt is proudly British and he wishes other people were more patriotic.
The Bros singer told Dom Joly on his ‘Sunday Session’ radio show: “I think it is OK if you were born here to say, ‘Please respect our country’.
“I don’t think it is in any way controversial. I think it is fine. This is our home – contribute and love it.
“If someone continually complains to me about this place it does rub me the wrong way.”

Scott Mills nervous about taking over from Steve Wright on Radio 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Scott Mills admitted he is nervous about taking over Steve Wright’s Radio 2 afternoon slot.
The 48-year-old DJ is leaving Radio 1 for Radio 2 and revealed he is worried about trying to replace the BBC legend Steve.
He told The Sun newspaper: “It is a big act to follow. I’ve been in denial for the past two months, but now I’ve done my last charts show and have four more shows left on Radio 1.
“It’s all becoming real and I’m sure I’ll cry. I don’t know what’s planned for my last day, I prefer it that way.
“I’ve spent a quarter of my life, if I’m lucky, on Radio 1 and have a massive step ahead but I’m excited.”
Scott also denied claims that the BBC is ageist after Radio 2 hosts Paul O’Grady, Tony Blackburn, Craig Charles and Wright, were all replaced by younger presenters.
He said: “I don’t think it’s ageism. On Radio 2 we have Johnnie Walker and Bob Harris, who are both in their seventies.
“I would have been a fool to turn down Radio 2” [because this is a job that] “comes up once every 10 or 20 years.
“It’s massive, and if I had said no this time I’d have to ask myself when it would come up again.”
Scott also rejected that his age had anything to do with his move to Radio 2.
He said: “I feel like I’m 25 and I’m still like a sponge with popular culture. I want to know what the young people like all the time. I’m obsessed.
“I can tell you what’s massive on TikTok, what the biggest tracks are and what’s important in an 18-year-old’s world.
“Radio 1 offered me another two years at the least but it feels like I’ve had an amazing run, plus nobody wants a 60-year-old Scott Mills on the show.”

Candice Brown for I’m A Celebrity?

OHMYGOSSIP — Candice Brown wants to take part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner revealed that she would jump at the chance to test herself in the adventure series, which is hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “I’d eat a kangaroo b******, not a problem. Well, I say ‘not a problem’ . . .  I’d make a hell of a show of it. I won’t eat peas so a kangaroo b****** is a push.
“But I’d give it a good go. I love a challenge and would love the opportunity to show me for me.
“Because I love to push myself, push my boundaries and test myself.”
And, while, Candice, 37, would love to make a return to ‘Bake Off, which she won in 2016, she still doesn’t have great confidence in her baking abilities.
She said: “I’d get my a*** absolutely handed to me on an All-Stars series – I have still got no interest in decoration.
“They’re too good for me. I’m all about the flavour. I can’t mess around with decoration.
“I would do it. I went back and did the New Year version. Why wouldn’t I? I loved every second so the chance to go back into the tent? Yes, all day.”

“I’ve been very lucky to meet him and to have a chance to work with him. I want to do it again and again.”
The ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ star admits that it is a “dream come true” to be starring in a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film and is delighted to have been welcomed into the MCU.

Chad Stahelski to direct assassin movie Shibumi

OHMYGOSSIP — Chad Stahelski is to direct the assassin movie ‘Shibumi’.
The ‘John Wick’ filmmaker had been attached as a producer for the project but has now taken control behind the camera.
The movie is being adapted from Trevanian’s 1979 novel that details the struggle between the ‘Mother Company’ – a conspiracy of energy companies that secretly control much of the Western world – and a skilled assassin named Nicholai Hel.
The book was a favourite of Stahelski’s growing up and features espionage, revenge plots and global politics.
The hero Hel grows up in Japan and becomes an expert in the art of the ‘Naked/Kill’, a martial discipline that features the use of ordinary items as instruments of death.
‘Shibumi’ is in development at Warner Bros. and will be written by ‘Operation Finale’ screenwriter Matthew Orton.
Stahelski will produce the film through his 87Eleven Entertainment banner with partners Alex Yong and Jason Spitz also involved as producers. The company has recently worked on the Jamie Foxx vampire film ‘Day Shift’, which has just been released on Netflix.
Chad recently revealed that the upcoming ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ will feature plenty of mythology and ninjas as it is the longest film in the franchise so far featuring Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin.
The 53-year-old director said: “I love mythology. I love a good myth. I don’t really believe – at least for the ‘John Wick’ movies – in a three-act structure. I believe in storytelling and leaving it.
“You know, we’ve always seen ‘John Wick’ as Odysseus. So we take the time we need to tell the story. As long as we don’t fall asleep watching it, we keep it going. But I guess there is a bathroom limit.”

Laura Whitmore quits hosting ‘Love Island’ as she found aspects of show ‘very difficult’

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore has quit as host of ‘Love Island’ after two years in the job as she found aspects of the show “very difficult”.
The host added in her announcement she would not front the next series, and said she hoped she did the ITV2 dating show’s late former presenter Caroline Flack “proud”.
It comes after Laura announced she is launching a new TV project, ‘Laura Whitmore Investigates’, and that she would be stepping into the West End theatre role of Jenny first played by Lily Allen in the hit ghost story ‘2:22’.
She said on Instagram on Monday night (22.08.22): “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.
“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline.”
Caroline presented ‘Love Island’ from 2015 to 2019 before taking her life in 2020 aged 40 two months after she had been charged with assaulting boyfriend Lewis Burton at her then home in North London.
An ITV spokesperson said about Laura’s ‘Love Island’ exit: “Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series of the show. We are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.”
Laura, who shares daughter Stevie Ré with ‘Love Island’ narrator husband Iain Stirling, 34, has come under attack during the latest series of the show for not appearing on air enough.
She was also mocked at the weekend for joking about this year’s contestant Tasha Ghouri’s lack of knowledge when it came to wine.
After speaking about her love of rosé on BBC One’s ‘Saturday Kitchen’, Laura said: “Also, Tasha on Love Island this year, she thought rosé wine was red white and white wine mixed together.”
She sarcastically added: “Which is apparently not how you make it.”
Wine expert Helen McGinn replied: “Well, I have to say Tasha’s not completely wrong,” prompting Laura to reply: “Oh! Go on… .”
Helen explained when it comes to Champagne “you are allowed to mix red and white wine to make rose, but only in Champagne in France”.
Again casting aspersions on Tasha’s wine knowledge, Laura asked: “Do you think Tasha thought that?”
Helen replied: “I love Tasha! I think Tasha knew all along.”
Viewers hit out that Laura’ joke had “backfired” and left her “eating humble pie”.
Last month, the presenter also departed her BBC Radio 5 Live show after four years.

Knives Out director Rian Johnson reveals Beatles inspiration behind sequel title Glass Onion

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson reveals ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ was named after the Beatles song.
The highly anticipated murder mystery sequel – which will see Daniel Craig return as private detective Benoit Blanc – is set to launch in December, and the filmmaker recently revealed its bizarre title.
Explaining his inspiration, Johnson told Netflix’s Tudum: “I’m always fishing for something fun that Blanc can grab onto as an overwrought metaphor that he can beat to death.
“This is all in plain sight from the very start. So, the idea of glass came to me, something that’s clear. I’ll be very honest.
“I literally got out my iPhone and searched my music library with the word glass. ‘There’s got to be some good glass songs.’ I was like, ‘Oh, is it a glass fortress? Is it a glass castle? Is it a glass man?’
“The first thing that came up, because I’m a huge Beatles fan, is ‘Glass Onion.’”
The cast for the follow-up to the original 2019 blockbuster boasts some big names, with Edward Norton coming in as tech biollionaire Miles Bron, alongside the likes of Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, Leslie Odom Jr, Madelyn Cline and Kate Hudson.
Describing his process for the ensemble, Johnson added: “You try and invite people that you like. But the reality is you never know.
“At the end of the day, just trying to get the best actors in each part, the actors that are most right for each individual part.
“So, you also just throw the dice and hold your breath. Luckily, we got a great group that really meshed.”
This time round, Craig’s Blanc is more of a focus for the story, with Ana de Armas’ character Marta being “very much the protagonist” in the first film.
He said: “In a big way, Blanc was the threat. He was almost the antagonist in terms of just the story structure, because you were worried, even as they got closer, that he was going to catch her and he was going to have to turn her over at the end.
“So Blanc was always outside of the sphere of our protagonist and was a little bit more of an enigma in the first movie.
“Whereas, in this one, Blanc gets an invitation to come to this murder mystery on this island. We’re very much meeting these people and getting into this world through his eyes.”

Aubrey Plaza to join Megalopolis cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Aubrey Plaza is set to join the cast of ‘Megalopolis’.
The 38-year-old star is expected to appear alongside Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne in ‘The Godfather’ director Francis Ford Coppola’s forthcoming film, sources have told Deadline.
Last September, the filmmaker admitted he is willing to fork out more than $100 million to make the movie, which has been in the pipeline for decades, and was said to want Oscar Isaac, Cate Blanchett, Zendaya, and Michelle Pfeiffer for the motion picture.
He said at the time: “I’m committed to making this movie, I’d like to make it in the fall of 2022.
“I don’t have all my cast approved, but I have enough of them to have confidence that it is going to be a very exciting cast. The picture’s going to cost $100 million to $120 million. Needless to say, I hope it’s closer to $100 million.
“I’m prepared to match some outside financing, almost dollar for dollar. In other words, I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is.”
The movie takes place in a modern city but the origins of the story are in Ancient Rome.
The 83-year-old director said: “This film I want to make, I believe is an exciting change from the kinds of movies being offered to the public.
“Mainly because it puts forward a fundamental message that it’s time for us to consider the society we live in isn’t the only alternative available to us. And that a utopia isn’t so much a little experiment place in the country; a utopia is a discussion of people asking the right questions on just that subject, and if the society we’re living in is the only alternative or, if for the sake of young people, there are better choices that should be discussed.
“Hopefully that is the influence I dream of this movie having. And for that reason I am willing and capable of investing at a high number, to make it come true. I’m putting together the means of doing that.”

Rose Ayling-Ellis sparks Doctor Who speculation after teasing top secret acting role

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose Ayling-Ellis has sparked speculation she could be joining ‘Doctor Who’.
The ‘EastEnders’ star – who announced last week she was quitting the BBC soap after two years as Frankie Lewis – has hinted at an upcoming, top secret project and she’s got fans wondering if she’ll be Ncuti Gatwa’s companion in the TARDIS.
As reported by the Daily Mirror newspaper, she referenced her mystery new job and said: “You will find out more at the end of this month. I’m not allowed to say anything.”
The publication notes that the 27-year-old actress has also started following Ncuti on Instagram, along with returning ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Russell T Davies and casting director Andy Pryor.
Fans have been quick to respond to the rumours, with plenty of people saying they would be “very excited” to see her join the cast of the sci-fi favourite.
One fan tweeted: “Doctor Who is one of my all time favourite shows, and if Rose Ayling-Ellis turns out to be the new companion, I think I’d pass out with the excitement!! Please let this be true! (sic)”
Another added: “If Rose Ayling-Ellis is the new doctor who companion I will cry.”
And a third person wrote: “Rose Ayling-Ellis for the next companion in #DoctorWho, please. #eastenders.”
If she was cast in the role, Rose – who is deaf – would become the first disabled companion on the iconic TV show, although Ruth Madeley plays wheelchair-bound companion Hebe Harrison on the audio versions.
Last week, the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ champion confirmed she was leaving ‘EastEnders’ after making her name in Albert Square.
She said: “It’s been incredibly special to be EastEnders’ first regular deaf actor.
“I have loved my time on the show and Frankie has been such an awesome character to play, however now feels like the right time for me to move on and I am excited and ready for new challenges.
“I will always treasure my time on the show and all the incredible people I have worked with, who have supported my growth as an actor these last two years and given me so many amazing memories.”

Vanessa Feltz is ‘effervescent with joy’ for new TalkTV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz is “effervescent with joy” to have a new show on TalkTV.
The former BBC Radio 2 host is planning to show off her “hidden side” as she replaces Jeremy Kyle – who is expected to take on a new primetime slot later in the year – on the 4pm and 7pm slot on the new channel, which features the likes of Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne.
The 60-year-old broadcaster said: “The allure of a retirement reclining on a chaise longue while the fragrant Ben peeled me a grape was fleeting. While there are politicians to be tackled, fat cats to be flattened, scams to expose and Lovely Listeners to champion it’s my mission to breathe fire into the microphone. After an elegant sojourn at the BBC I am effervescent with joy at the invitation to unleash my hitherto hidden side on Talk TV.
“I will relish full-throttled debate and the chance to have a personal passionate point of view at last. Even better, I’ll be at the reins of Drivetime. Lord what luxury! After years of 3.30 am starts I’ll have a show without an alarm clock involved. If I terrified Mayor Sadiq Khan so acutely he never dared set foot in my studio on almost no sleep, tune in to see what I can achieve on a full eight hours shut-eye.”
Vanessa added that she will be a contributor the ‘The Talk’ a few times a week after she makes her debut on the network next month.
She said: “I’ll be on ‘The Talk’ at 9pm two-three nights a week too. Times have never been tougher and neither have I. See you there 4pm from Monday September 5th and have a good lunch first. You’re going to need the calories!”
Channel bosses have praised Vanessa as a “national treasure”.
Scott Taunton, News UK’s president of broadcasting said: “Vanessa Feltz is not only a world-class broadcaster, she’s also a national treasure. I’m delighted that she is joining the brilliant talent roster at TalkTV. With no alarm clock needed, I’m sure our viewers and listeners will be getting the full force of Feltz!”
Last week, Vanessa wished an emotional goodbye to her faithful Radio 2 listeners, saying she had “been honoured to share the small hours with you”.
She added: “I’m absolutely heartbroken to be leaving as I know you can tell, and I will miss you every day with all my heart.”
On her BBC Radio London Show later in the day, she continued her teary farewells to the national broadcaster’s audience.
Vanessa said: “Lovely listener, we are woven into the DNA of one another’s lives in a very special way.”
