Love Island’s Maura Higgins set to host Big Brother reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Maura Higgins is reportedly wanted to host the ‘Big Brother’ reboot.
The 31-year-old star – who shot to fame when she appeared on ITV2’s ‘Love Island’ back in 2019 – is said to be wanted by bosses to host the revival of the Channel 4 reality series when it returns to screens on ITV later this year, with producers now looking to female stars after ‘Masked Singer’ judge Mo Gilligan was busy.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Producers are determined to distance themselves from former Big Brother names but the former favourite, Mo Gilligan, is now busy in the States. Now bosses are looking at female stars who have the strength to hold the show together, while also the warmth to gently quiz contestants in the way that Davina McCall and Emma Willis did so well. Maura is a homegrown ITV talent who has all that – plus of course looks great on screen.”
The hit reality show – which was first aired on Channel 4 back in 2000 and switched to Channel 5 from 2011 until 2018 – sees a group of strangers live together in a house and made stars out of now-household names such as ‘This Morning’ presenter Alison Hammond and ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ host Brian Dowling.
Back in June, former ‘X Factor’ star Rylan Clark – who won ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ back in 2013 and went on to host its spin-off ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ – admitted that despite “campaigning” for the top job, he had not been contacted about it.
He said: “I keep hearing the rumours but no one has called me. I have campaigned since the day we found out.”
‘Big Brother’ is set to return to screens for a six-week run in 2023.

Tyger Drew-Honey wants to do another series of Outnumbered

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyger Drew-Honey is “keen'” to do another series of ‘Outnumbered.’
The 26-year-old actor appeared as Jake Brockman in the semi-improvised BBC sitcom – which followed the everyday life of a North London family – over the course of five series between 2007 and 2014 but while he would be up for a reboot, he remains unsure that it will ever happen.
He said: “I can’t say there are any official plans. I don’t believe there are, but if the email came along and everyone was keen to do it, I’d be keen to do it. Whether it would be, just continuing something for the sake of it or whether ‘Outnumbered’ has found it’s a good place to stop. I don’t know, that’s not my call. I would be keen, but I don’t think it will be [returning].”
The former ‘Cuckoo’ actor starred alongside Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner on the show – who played parents Sue and Pete Brockman – while Ramona Marquez, 21, played his younger sister Karen and Daniel Roche, 22, took on the role of his younger brother Ben.
However, Tyger admitted that while they no longer “live in each other’s pockets”, the trio of former child actors have developed a “unique bond” since their time growing up together on the show.
He told Metro.co.uk: “We definitely don’t live in each other’s pockets. We’ve all got our own lives, but we do have this incredible, unique bond. We went through this very unique experience together. Lots of kids get into telly, but we were the three ‘Outnumbered’ kids, so we went on this very specific journey together and will always have a bond.We catch up once or twice a year without fail.
“Whenever there’s anything kind of going on, in any of our lives – like for instance, a couple of times I’ve been in the theatre – then they come to see it and we go out for a big dinner, or most summers we try and go to one of our houses and have a big barbecue or just catch up.”

Nathalie Emmanuel loves ‘psychological thrillers’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nathalie Emmanuel is “really into psychological thrillers”.
The 33-year-old actress is a long-time fan of the thriller genre, and Nathalie sees some elements of it in her new movie, ‘The Invitation’.
The actress – who plays a struggling student artist in the Jessica M Thompson-directed film – told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m really into psychological thrillers, the ones that keep you guessing and are all about building suspense. I love that sort of style.
“I actually think we have a big element of that in this film. So much of it is Evie feeling like something is up, but not quite knowing what.
“As a viewer, you can’t help but try to work out what’s happening and where the threat is coming from. And sometimes, you get it wrong, but then it happens when you least expect it. So I just enjoy that style of storytelling, but who doesn’t love a bit of gore and blood stuff, too?”
Earlier this month, Nathalie revealed she’s always been “eager” to star in a horror movie.
The actress plays a starring role in ‘The Invitation’, and Nathalie admitted it’s something she’s been keen to do for years.
She said: “I’ve always been really interested in trying my hand at all kinds of genres. It was something I hadn’t done before and I was so eager to try.”
The movie was shot in Budapest and Nathalie admits that she found it to be an exhausting experience.
She shared: “I mean, practically, playing sheer terror and trauma is very, very tiring. It’s a useful sensation though, because though you feel like there’s nothing left; you have to keep pushing through. And that’s true of when you’re a character trying to survive a horror!”

Daniel Craig says James Bond experience prepared him for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig thinks playing James Bond has helped him to prepare for ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’.
The 54-year-old actor has reprised the role of Benoit Blanc – a Southern detective – in the latest ‘Knives Out’ movie, and he’s explained how playing 007 helped him to prepare for the shoot.
Discussing the challenge of reprising a character and dealing with comparisons, Daniel explained: “I’ve spent the past 15 years of my life trying to do that in a franchise, so I’m not afraid of it. If you’ve got the right people in the room and the right talent, then you can do it.”
The first ‘Knives Out’ movie – which also starred the likes of Ana de Armas, Chris Evans and Jamie Lee Curtis – proved to be a big hit at the box office.
And Daniel has relished being reunited with director Rian Johnson.
He told Empire: “Rian’s a genius writer and doesn’t want to repeat [himself]. Neither do we want to let people down; we want audiences to enjoy the world that we created in the first one and believe in this one.”
Daniel made his final appearance as Bond in 2021’s ‘No Time to Die’, and the actor previously admitted that he may have taken the role too seriously.
He said at the time: “I take things quite seriously unfortunately, but also because I care, and I love what I do. So I’m never not trying to figure out whether we can make it a bit better.
“It’s James Bond. This is, for me personally, the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my career. It’s one of the biggest things in my life. It’s massively important to me, and maybe that’s taking it too seriously, and sometimes you’ve got to lighten it [up].”

Katie has recently launched her own magazine show ‘The Katie Piper Breakfast’ show – which airs on ITV on Sundays at 8:30am until September 11 – and explained that the opportunity was “perfect” for her because it fits in with her lifestyle.
She said: “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’ve got two kids, so this is perfect for me and my schedule. I’m going to be waking the nation up every Sunday morning – but for me it’s practically a lie-in because I’m used to getting up so early with the kids.”

She told HELLO Magazine: “Unwittingly, they’ve consulted on the whole project. They were like my little focus group, giving loads of feedback! It’s been really great processing it with them. I would ask them things like ‘When do you feel good?’ and ‘What does that feel like in your tummy? In your head?’. It’s a book to raise their self-esteem without them knowing.”
‘All You Need’ is set for release on 17 February 2023.

Jaime Winstone: Playing Peggy Mitchell was f****** nerve-wracking

OHMYGOSSIP — Jaime Winstone was “nervous” to play Peggy Mitchell on ‘EastEnders’.
The 37-year-old actress is taking on the role made famous by the late Dame Barbara Windsor – who died in 2020 at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease – as part of an upcoming flashback special of the BBC soap opera and could “hear the voice” of the legendary pub landlady as she pulled on her blonde wig.
She said: “It’s f****** nerve-wracking. You’re just playing the most iconic character in British TV history! I tried to turn the nerves into excitement. As soon as I put the wig on, I could hear her saying, ‘you’ve got this’. Those words ‘get out of my pub!’ were ringing in my head.”
The ‘Four Lives’ actress – who is the daughter of esteemed actor Ray Winstone and his wife Elaine – previously starred as a young Barbara in the 2017 biopic ‘Babs’ but admitted she had to “strip away” all essences of Barbara’s comedy performances as she took on the part of the “tough” yet “vulnerable” soap matriarch.
She told The Mirror: “I’ve played so many parts in Barbara’s life but not Peggy Mitchell and it had been niggling at me. I had to strip all the ‘Carry On’ stuff away – like the wiggle, the giggle – and implement all the stuff Peggy grew from. It took a long time. Peggy is different, she’s tough, she’s vulnerable but nobody’s seen her at this point in her life.
“Just seeing [Peggy’s sons] Phil and Grant as young men, then Peggy, then Eric, who we’ve heard so much about. I love the parallels with Thatcher on TV and what’s going on now. It pulled my heartstrings.”
The flashback episode is set to air on BBC One September 5.

Holly and Phil are unsure whether to hug guests on This Morning after COVID

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willougby and Phillip Schofield are unsure whether to hug their guests on ‘This Morning.’
The TV duo – who have fronted the ITV daytime show together since 2009 – were unable to hug each other or guests during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic due to social distancing roles and Holly, 41, admitted that while it now feels like the “good old days” at work, she always “follows the lead” of guests when they come into the studio for a chat.
She said: “It feels like we’re up to full capacity again now with guests coming back in. It feels like the good old days. Although you still have that moment when someone walks towards you when they come on the sofa… I follow their lead really if they go in for a handshake or a hug.”
Meanwhile, her 60-year-old co-host added that it is “interesting” that people have had to “re-learn” how to hug as a result of the “scarring” nature of COVID-19 and explained that guests often say they have forgotten how to socialise as a result of the lockdowns.
In the joint interview, Phillip told The Mirror: “It’s interesting that we are having to re-learn how to do that – not amongst our friendship groups but with guests who come in and we say ‘are we hugging?’ It scarred us all in some way and I don’t think we’ll ever forget that it happened because it was damaging on so many different levels.
“Some say, ‘I’ve almost forgotten how to be sociable’ so it might take a few of us a while to get back to normal.”
The pair are set to return to ‘This Morning’ on September 5 following a summer break, which has seen the likes of ‘Big Brother’ stars Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson as well as former ‘X Factor’ contestant Rylan Clark and ‘Loose Women’ anchor Ruth Langsford take over presenting duties in their absence.

Dame Mary Berry took up croquet after being warned she’d be dead in four years from lack of exercise

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Mary Berry took up croquet to save her life.
A doctor told the Great British Bake Off judge, 87, she could be dead in four years if she didn’t start exercising.
Opening up about the scare, she told the Saturday edition (27.08.22) of the Daily Mail’s ‘Weekend’ magazine the warning came after she broke her hip in a fall while gardening in 2021 and had surgery at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, where she was laid up for days.
Dame Mary said: “My GP told me, ‘You’ve two options. You could sit in a chair and do no exercise and quite probably be dead in four years, or you can set to, walk (uphill too!) and do everything you can, and it’ll take 18 months for a full recovery’.
“And gosh, she was right. I’ve exercised and had lots of physio and it’s not quite normal yet, but it will be.”
Dame Mary added she was delighted to finally have a sport she can play with her husband Paul Hunnings, 90, to keep them healthy together.
She said: “We’ve just taken up croquet. I’ve never played a sport with my husband before because he says I have no ball sense.
“But we have lessons with a lovely Finnish lady – she is so patient with us and we absolutely love it! So it’s a great joy to play sport together at last.
“My husband used to play rugby for Saracens, and tennis and squash, but now he’s 90 he can’t. But croquet is perfect for people our age. We play for two hours and he says he’s knackered at the end but after a bit of a zizz he perks up again.”
Dame Mary was picking sweet peas when she tripped in August 2021, and had to wait three-and-a-half hours for an ambulance to arrive as she lay stricken with a shattered hip.
She has shared her doctor’s advice months ago she tested positive for Covid with her husband on a Corfu holiday, leading them to isolate together.

The upcoming spin-off of the beloved ITV reality show will see previous contestants return for a special series in South Africa, and the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress is said to be back a decade after first appearing.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Helen is an absolute catch for ITV and they are thrilled she is finally on board.
“It has taken months of negotiations because it’s a big decision to spend so long away from her young children, but she has finally come around to the idea.
“She was brilliant telly back in 2012 and is board to be just as entertaining this time around – especially if she gets voted into doing the trials again.”
The AGE-year-old star previously admitted she underestimated how difficult the experience would be when she first signed up in 2012, but viewers quickly picked up on her squeamish side and kept voting her to face various Bushtucker Trials.
She said: “When I signed up for ‘I’m A Celebrity’ I didn’t take the trials into consideration because I didn’t think I would do so many.
“I just thought I would maybe do one or two and thought I’d be fine.
“I thought I would just be in a bikini and make friends – I didn’t think it would be so intense.”
Other names linked to the series – which is set to air in 2023 – include the likes of ‘Countdown’ star Carol Vorderman, former ‘EastEnders’ actor Dean Gaffney and 2017 Queen of the Jungle George Toffolo.
Meanwhile, ‘Changing Rooms’ star Linda Barker recently admitted she’d “love” to be part of the show again, having first appearance in 2003.
She said: “That television programme was beautiful to be a part of. So yeah, I guess you never know until that phone rings.”

“Pixar and the world will be forever grateful.”

Sarah Beeny diagnosed with breast cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Beeny has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 50-year-old TV presenter was given the heart-breaking news three weeks ago after she found a lump in her breast, and she has started chemotherapy ahead of having a mastectomy in the new year, and then radiotherapy.
Speaking about the moment she found out, Sarah – who has sons Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12, with her husband, Graham Swift – said: “Even though we’d all got masks on, you can look at people’s eyes. And I thought, ‘Oh, I know what those eyes are saying.’
“Then I turned around and there was this lovely lady there who was a breast cancer support nurse, sitting on the chair next to me. I looked at her and thought, well, you’re not here because you’re bored or looking for a nice, cool room to sit in. I just said, ‘Look, I’ve got cancer, haven’t I?’ And they just said yes.”
Sarah admits she had “a little bit of a breakdown” in the consultation room, and says she has been expecting to be diagnosed with breast cancer after her mum died of the disease, which spread to her brain, aged 39, when the former ‘Property Ladder’ host was just 10 years old.
She added to the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “The nurse was so sweet and they were really nice to me but I thought, ‘You don’t understand. I have waited 40 years to hear those words.’ I knew I was going to hear it one day.
“I guess resilience is the main thing it’s taught me. When someone dies when you’re young, you don’t really understand the impact completely, but there are holes later on. You think, ‘Oh, that’s where my mum would be,’ like when you have a child.
“The fear makes you pack a lot in. My husband always says I’m so impatient in life and I think I’m impatient because it might run out; you might not have any more time. So I guess that’s how it’s impacted me a lot.”
Sarah took to Twitter to reveal she missed CarFest last weekend after undergoing her first round of chemotherapy on Friday (26.08.22).
She wrote: “Thanks so much for your kind comments after not being at Carfest supporting my sons who were playing – first session of chemo for breast cancer on Friday kept me away – not much else would!”
Sarah also thanked fans for sending her “positive vibes”.
Replying to a message from TV presenter Fern Britton, she tweeted: “Thanks so much for message – so many lovely messages – with this many positive vibes it will all be fine! X (sic)”

Miley Cyrus joins cast of godmother Dolly Parton’s festive film

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus will appear alongside her godmother Dolly Parton in a new festive film.
The 29-year-old singer has joined the cast of NBC project ‘Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas’, which will also feature Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus.
According to Deadline, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmie Allen and Zach Williams will also appear in the movie, as will Tom Everett Scott, Ana Gasteyer and Angel Parker.
The film will feature the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker in the titular role, and will see her try to share a unique “mountain magic”, which she has always found in Dollywood at Christmas time, with the world.
Parton will also executive produce the project alongside Sam Haskell and David Rambo, who is writing the film.
Miley and Parton may well be conversing about the movie via fax in the coming months, after the ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker revealed earlier this year they use the communication method to stay in touch with one another.
The star said: “It was amazing because, you know, she was doing it for the phones, yet every time I coordinate and kind of communicate with Dolly, it’s still through fax.
“So I don’t know what she’s talking about. She’s rarely on the phone.
“Well, we do use the phone, but she does a fax, and then someone scans the fax, and then they put it into a text message, and then that gets sent to me, and it’s always signed.”
Miley has also been encouraged by the country music icon to improve her own communication skills.
She explained: “I’ve started to try and make my own letters because there’s something so amazing just about a connection. It’s just not casual. You know that she took the time to get out, I guess, her typewriter.”

Amber Gill in ‘better mental headspace’ thanks to Celebrity SAS

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Gill has credited ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ with helping her to get into a “better mental headspace”.
The former ‘Love Island’ winner is “really grateful” to the Channel 4 show for transforming the way she thinks about life, admitting she hadn’t been in a “very good mental headspace” before taking part.
She said: “[‘Celebrity SAS’] really helped my mental headspace – I think I just got a bit more clarity when I removed myself from everything that I knew to be normal and put myself in something completely different.
“It really transformed the way that I thought about life and I’m really grateful that I did it.
“I wanted to prove to myself because I don’t think I’ve ever been tested.
“My job is relatively nice to do and so I wanted to prove I was resilient.
“Before I went in, I wasn’t in a very good mental headspace and that was the tipping scale on whether I should do it or not. I’m so glad I did because it kick-started me getting into a better headspace.”
The 25-year-old star was in “two minds” about whether or not to sign up for the gruelling series, in which stars endure military training, because she had “lost [her] way a little bit”, but Amber is glad she did take part.
She added: “I believe in myself to the very end to do everything, but before this experience, I really lost that and I lost my way a little bit, so I was in two minds whether to do it or not, but then I did it, and when I came out of the other side, I was completely different.
“A lot of what I do is based on external validation. You want people to engage with your social media, you want people to like you and I think that all got a bit much.
“Normally I don’t care and I’d say what I wanted to say, but I just sort of lost that.
“I really couldn’t see a way out because it’s hard when I have to do it every day. I can’t claim I don’t care what people think, because I do.”
Former ‘EastEnders’ actress Maisie Smith, ex-‘TOWIE’ star Ferne McCann, former footballer Ashley Cain, and pro dancer brothers AJ and Curtis Pritchard have also signed up for the series, in which ex-Marine Rudy Reyes puts the stars through their paces in his role as chief instructor.
