Charlotte Crosby discovered own lump after mother’s cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby discovered a lump just days after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 32-year-old reality TV star was shocked when her beloved mother Letitia was diagnosed after a routine mammogram and then Charlotte was worried after she also discovered a lump.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I became so much more aware of my own body. And then I found a lump literally just after mum was diagnosed.
“I went to get it checked out straight away. Luckily it was nothing bad.”
Speaking about her own diagnosis, Letitia, 53, said: “It was just a routine mammogram, I have never missed one. When they told me it was cancer I was floored.
“I no symptoms, no lumps, nothing. The mammogram has helped save my life – they should be inviting women of all ages to one every single year. Not just women over 50.”
And Charlotte admitted she couldn’t accept the news of her mother’s diagnosis at first.
She said: “When mum got the letter from them she said she thought something was wrong.
“But I was so adamant it wasn’t. I said, ‘You’re being stupid and worrying over nothing.’ I was so adamant it was going to be fine. I didn’t even entertain the fact it would be cancer.
“When she called and told us it was cancer, I said: No it’s not.’ She was like, ‘No I have been told it is cancer.’ But I still didn’t believe it because I was so adamant it could not be that.
“There was a really low part.
“Mum went into a negative place. And there is only so much you can tell yourself your mam is going to be OK, when your mam is saying: ‘I am going to die, I am going to die,’
“And I remember mam saying it so much that I get into my head, ‘Mam is going to die.’
“But she changed her mind-set when she saw how upset I was.”

Rebekah Vardy considering offers for Wagatha Christie documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebekah Vardy is considering two offers to tell her side of the ‘Wagatha Christie’ story.
The 40-year-old star has been approached about making a documentary to show her “emotional turmoil”, after Coleen Rooney accused her Instagram account of leaking false stories to the press.
A source told The Mirror newspaper: “The show will document her emotional turmoil both before, during and after her court case, which is ongoing to this day.”
However, Rebekah’s documentary will not follow her libel trial, which she lost to Coleen.
The insider added: “Becky always refused to allow cameras to follow her during the libel case, unlike Coleen.”
This comes after it was revealed that Coleen has signed a lucrative deal with Disney Plus for the rights to her side of the story.
Disney said: “The three-part series will take viewers from the cir¬¬cum¬¬stances that led to Coleen’s ¬infamous ¬ Instagram post that ‘broke the internet’ all the way to Coleen being a successful defendant in one of the UK’s highest profile High Court defamation cases brought against her by Rebekah Vardy.
“‘Wagatha Christie’ will reveal how fiercely ¬determined and resilient Coleen had to be in order to protect her family from the challenges presented by ¬traditional and social media landscapes.”
The show is being made by the same production company which made a documentary about her husband Wayne – titled ‘Rooney’ – last year and Coleen signed the deal with Disney Plus following a bidding war with rivals Amazon Prime, Netflix and Discovery.
According to The Sun, cameras filming for the documentary have been following Coleen for months and the show will give viewers “unfiltered access” from behind-the-scenes.
Coleen, 36, had publicly claimed that “Rebekah Vardy’s account” was the source behind three fake stories she had posted on her private Instagram page – of which Rebekah was an approved follower – and was dubbed ‘Wagatha Christie’ for her social media probing, a reference to the term ‘WAGS’ which is an acronym used to refer to wives and girlfriends of high-profile sportsmen.
Rebekah – who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy – sued Coleen for libel after she accused her of leaking “false stories” to the media in an explosive social media post, but a judge ruled against Rebekah in July.

Matt Shakman departs Star Trek 4

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Star Trek 4’ has lost its director.
Matt Shakman, who was due to helm the upcoming film, has dropped out due to a scheduling conflict over his work with ‘Fantastic Four’ for Marvel Studios.
Paramount Pictures said in a statement: “Matt Shakman is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and we regret the timing didn’t align for him to direct our upcoming ‘Star Trek’ film. We are grateful for his many contributions, are excited about the creative vision of this next chapter and look forward to bringing it to audiences all around world.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the search for a new director will get underway immediately.
‘Star Trek 4′ is set to follow-on from 2016’s Star Trek Beyond’, which starred Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk.
Along with Pine, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg are set to reprise their roles as Spock and Scotty, respectively, while Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Bones) and John Cho (Sulu) are also attached to the sequel.
The late Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov, sadly died before 2016’s ‘Star Trek Beyond’ hit cinemas, and it’s not known if his character will return with another actor.
JJ Abrams – who previously rebooted the series – has teased that they will take “‘Star Trek’ into areas that you’ve just never seen before”.
Announcing the fourth movie, he said: “We are thrilled to say that we are hard at work on a new ‘Star Trek’ film that will be shooting by the end of the year that will be featuring our original cast and some new characters that I think are going to be really fun and exciting and help take ‘Star Trek’ into areas that you’ve just never seen before.
“We’re thrilled about this film, we have a bunch of other stories that we’re talking about that we think will be really exciting, so can’t wait for you to see what we’re cooking up. But until then, live long and prosper.”

Brad Pitt inspired Baltasar Kormakur’s Beast

OHMYGOSSIP — Brad Pitt’s ‘Snatch’ performance inspired ‘Beast’ director Baltasar Kormakur.
The 58-year-old actor starred as an Irish Traveller boxer in Guy Ritchie’s gangster film, and Baltasar has explained how it influenced his new survival thriller movie, which focuses on a family who go to a South African game reserve for their holiday.
The director explained to Collider: “Lions are not born on this earth to attack people, you know? But I think the situation is very clearly stated in the film, but at the same time, you have to have a worthy opponent.
“For example, Brad Pitt in ‘Snatch’ was a little bit the idea for the lion. Lean, mean, fast and unpredictable. And so you have to look at it not only as a chunk of meat or an animal, you have to look at it as a real character and we put a lot of work into creating a character and finding references of lions that we liked and felt would present this lion in a different way.”
‘Beast’ stars the likes of Idris Elba, Sharlto Copley and Leah Sava Jeffries, and Baltasar has revealed that he tried to differentiate the movie from similar projects of yesteryear.
He said: “I wanted to try to set this film apart from other films of this genre and try to bring something different to the table. Because obviously, ‘Jurassic Park’ – a way bigger budget and bigger creatures – and so by getting you stuck in a shot, [we] up the emotional claustrophobia of being stuck, being one of the characters in this situation.”

Rebecca Adlington suffers miscarriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Adlington has suffered a miscarriage.
The 33-year-old Olympic swimmer was 12 weeks pregnant when she discovered the devastating news on Tuesday (23.08.22) that she and husband Andy Parsons had lost their baby.
Rebecca added that she has developed sepsis but is “slowly” recovering.
She wrote on Instagram: “On Tuesday me and Andy went to hospital for our 12 week scan only to discover we’ve had a miscarriage which resulted in emergency surgery. I managed to leave hospital Thursday only to be readmitted Friday. After a day of treating sepsis, a kidney infection and a fever I’m slowly on the mend. Long way to go but I’m in the right place.
“I can’t thank the hospitals and the staff enough, been so supportive. It’s such a devastating time but important in times like these we remember we aren’t alone and have so much support.
“@andrewparsons5 you have been my rock this week. Same with family and friends. We haven’t managed to process it all yet but I know with their support we’ll get through it.
“Once I’m able to leave hospital I’m extremely grateful I get to go home and give my 2 little ones the best hugs!”
Rebecca and Andy already have 18-month-old son Albie together and she also shares seven-year-old daughter Summer with ex-husband Harry Needs.
Rebecca and Andy tied the knot last year at Scarlet Hall in Cheshire, north west England.
Andy broke down in tears when he saw Rebecca walking down the aisle with her father Steve, and her daughter Summer.
Speaking in a joint interview, Andy said: “The second it kicked in, I thought, ‘Oh, you’ve really pushed me to the limit with this,’ and I felt my composure start to go.
“Then I saw Summer coming down the aisle and then Albie and that really got me.
“So when Becky started walking towards me with her dad, I just lost it. She had the most beautiful smile on her face. She looked incredible.”

Rose Ayling-Ellis creating bilingual TV comedy-drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose Ayling-Ellis is creating a new TV comedy-drama that will be “totally bilingual”.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ winner – who is deaf and uses British Sign Language – has announced that she is working on the “female focused” project, which will bring deaf stories to the mainstream.
Speaking at the the Edinburgh International TV Festival, she said: “My journey so far hasn’t been easy, and the future will certainly have its challenges, but it is a huge privilege to be able to tell deaf stories and for them to have the potential to reach an expanding audience. I have created and am currently developing a new comedy-drama series that will be totally bilingual and female focused.
“[I am] done with being the token deaf character. I believe that diverse, rich, and fascinating deaf stories are ready to go mainstream and that we can do this, together.”
She is also set to front a new BBC documentary ‘Signs For Change’, which will explore the daily challenges and discrimination facing people within the deaf community.
Rose, 27, said: “This documentary will be real, emotional and hard-hitting, and it is high time that the realities of deaf people in the UK were shared with a wider audience.
“My hope is to encourage people to look at our attitude as a society and to reflect on how we can improve the lives of deaf people. It will not paint me as an inspiration, but will instead lift the lid on the gritty stuff that we desperately need to confront.”
The documentary is set to explore “societal change and inclusion for deaf individuals”, according to the BBC.

EastEnders bosses plan funeral for Dot Branning

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ will say a special goodbye to June Brown’s Dot Branning later this year.
The 95-year-old actress passed away in April and though her character, who was also known as Dot Cotton, left Walford in 2020 after 35 years on Albert Square, bosses have planned an off-screen death for her alter ego, with her former neighbours then coming together for her funeral.
Dot had been living in Ireland but wanted her funeral to take place in her beloved Walford, and soap bosses have promised the scenes will be a “deserving” tribute to both the character and the beloved actress.
Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, said: “Everyone at ‘EastEnders’ was truly heartbroken when June passed away earlier this year and, for quite a while, no-one could even think about saying goodbye to Dot; an iconic character who will go down in television history and be cherished forever.
“June was always adamant that she never wanted Dot’s time to end while she was still with us, but she also knew that ‘EastEnders’ would rightly say their farewells to Dot when the time was right.
“Sadly that time has come and we are determined to give the audience, who treasured Dot for so many years, the fitting tribute that she so deeply deserves. So whilst it will be a very, very sad day in Walford, we will be giving Dot the send-off that she and June would want and rightly deserve.”
Following the news of the veteran soap star’s death earlier this year, ‘EastEnders’ bosses paid a touching tribute.
A spokesperson said at the time: “June created one of the most iconic characters in Dot Cotton, not just in soap but in British television, and having appeared in 2,884 episodes, June’s remarkable performances created some of ‘EastEnders’ finest moments. We send all our love and deepest sympathies to June’s family and friends.
“There are not enough words to describe how much June was loved and adored by everyone at ‘EastEnders’, her loving warmth, wit and great humour will never be forgotten. A very bright light has gone out at ‘EastEnders’ today but we shall all be raising a sweet sherry in June’s memory. Rest in peace, our dearest June. You will never be forgotten.”
The episode will air towards the end of this year.

Keeley Hawes won’t act forever

OHMYGOSSIP — Keeley Hawes doesn’t want to act “forever”.
The 46-year-old actress is still passionate about her career, but now she’s getting older, she admitted there are “other things” she’d like to take the time to pursue.
She told You magazine: “I don’t want to do it forever.
“I love it, I’ve been really lucky but over the past couple of years, like lots of people, you think, “God, life is short and you’re only here once” – if you believe that, which I do – and there might be other avenues to explore.
“I’ll be 50 in a minute. There might be other things out there for me.”
The ‘Crossfire’ actress is “excited” about getting older and entering the next phase of her life.
She said: “I’m excited about it. It feels different these days. Menopause was a shadowy sort of thing that no one talked about and now it’s a different world. Women used to have a horrible time. Now it’s a conversation. Really, it’s an honour to be getting older, isn’t it?”
The ‘Bodyguard’ star – who has three children with husband Matthew Macfadyen – has joined David Tennant, Richard E. Grant and Lesley Manville in signing an open letter from the Acting Your Age campaign calling for parity between the sexes because she thinks there needs to be a lot more work done to represent older women on screen.
She said: “We have to make the odds better for women.
“There is still glaring inequality on our screens. Women’s stories don’t stop after 45. Their lives don’t become less interesting, but the demand for older actresses and presenters drops off statistically. That’s an injustice to those performers and the audience who should be represented.”
Keeley thinks the industry has changed for the better for women overall.
She said: “I’ve witnessed and called out racism, misogyny, sexism, harassment and bullying.
“No one would have been able to do that 20 years ago for fear of losing their job, or being seen as difficult.”

Paramount Pictures seek dismissal of Top Gun: Maverick lawsuit

OHMYGOSSIP — Paramount Pictures want a copyright lawsuit against ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ to be thrown out.
The company are being sued by the family of Ehy Yonay – the writer who penned a 1983 magazine article which the original ‘Top Gun’ was based on – but have argued that the sequel is a work of fiction and has nothing to do with the original source.
In court documents seen by People magazine, Paramount’s lawyers argued: “Any similarity between these vastly different works derives from the fact that Top Gun is an actual naval training facility.
“Plaintiffs do not have a monopoly over works about Top Gun.”
Ehud’s widow and son, Shosh and Yuval Yonay, filed their lawsuit in June and argued had Paramount failed to reacquire the rights to Ehud’s article after it was terminated under the US Copyright Act.
They are seeking unspecified damages from the studio, including profits from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The lawsuit claims that the ‘Top Gun’ franchise wouldn’t have existed without Ehud’s “literary efforts and evocative prose and narrative”.
According to the lawsuit, the Yonays informed Paramount that the rights to the article would be terminated two years later and added that the studio lost the copyright for the piece in January 2020.
Lawyer Marc Toberoff, who is representing the Yonays, told the BBC: “Much as Paramount wants to pretend otherwise, they made a sequel to ‘Top Gun’ after they lost their copyright.”
Paramount responded with the statement: “These claims are without merit, and we will defend ourselves vigorously.”
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ saw Tom Cruise reprise his role as US navy pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell and gave the Hollywood megastar his first $100 million opening weekend at the box office.
A hearing has been scheduled for 26 September to go over the case.

Val Kilmer was thrilled to reunite with Tom Cruise on Top Gun: Maverick

OHMYGOSSIP — Val Kilmer says it was a “pleasure” to reunite with Tom Cruise on ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The 62-year-old actor reprised his role as Admiral Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky in the action sequel and relished the chance to act with Cruise, who returned as his alter ego and Iceman’s close friend Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell.
Speaking to Collider, Val said: “Well, we are paid to act and that’s what we did in the scene… but doing so with a class act like Tom made it a pleasure, and less like work!”
The ‘Heat’ star appreciated working with Tom and director Joseph Kosinski, who he claimed made the cast “very comfortable”.
Val, whose voice is permanently damaged after a battle with throat cancer, explained: “He made us very comfortable, and everyone on the crew was transfixed just to be there. Tom commands a lot of respect and it was a joy to be in such a comfortable setting.”
The sequel features a number of new additions to the cast, including Miles Teller and Glen Powell, and Val believes that they enhanced the blockbuster.
He said: “The energy of ensemble casts is explosive! Especially when they’re playing fighter pilots!”
Val explained that he is proud of his career as an actor and hopes to “inspire increased focus and concentration” from audiences.
Asked what he hopes people take from his work, the ‘Batman Forever’ star said: “I hope to inspire increased focus and concentration. To entertain for two hours carries a great deal of satisfaction. To be able to give this gift is such a joy. It costs something too. Acting should cost something!”

Adam Woodyatt lands role in My Fair Lady

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Woodyatt is set to make £500,000 after landing a role in ‘My Fair Lady’.
The 54-year-old actor – who is best known for playing Ian Beale in ‘EastEnders’ – has signed up for a lengthy run in the stage production, and it is estimated he will bring in up to £3,500 per show over the course of the 158-show run, depending on ticket sales.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Adam’s a big-name so there’s no reason ticket sales won’t be buoyant.
“It’s a good deal for him. Theatre work’s hard but rewarding — and a lot more fun than the day-to-day slog of filming a soap.
“If the tour goes well he could become a stage star.”
Adam – who left ‘EastEnders’ in 2020 after 35 years – will star as dustman Alfred, the father of lead character Eliza Doolittle, with Charlotte Kennedy playing his daughter and Lesley Garrett also part of the cast.
The show will debut in London’s West End before embarking on a UK tour and the soap legend couldn’t be happier about his new job.
He wrote on Instagram: “The cat is finally out of the bag…
“Can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be going on tour with @myfairladyuk and to be playing #AlfredPDoolittle (sic)”
Adam recently admitted he hasn’t “got a clue” what the future holds for him, but suggested he wouldn’t be returning to ‘EastEnders’.
He said: “I’m quite happy doing what I’m doing. I haven’t got a clue what’s going to happen.
“The character evolved. If you think back in the 80s, he was a spotty, teenage kid. He was getting bullied at school, his dad wanted him to do boxing.
“It’s been a very, very long journey. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t always think that some of the changes were right.
“Maybe they should’ve chosen other directions to go but they weren’t my decisions. They were stuff the bosses chose.
“Did it make Ian unpopular? Yeah, at times. He was quite forthright and quite rude to everyone, even people he loved.
“He claimed to be a great father but actually he wasn’t. He was an absolute narcissist. Some would say a sociopath. But he was very misunderstood. Mostly, his heart was in the right place. He just got things wrong.”

Matt Goss in it to win it with Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Goss wants to win ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The Bros singer is hoping to have “fun” in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition but has set his sights on reaching the final as he doesn’t see the point in taking part just to “lose”.
He said: “I’d like to get as far as I can. I’m not doing ‘Strictly’ to lose it, I’m doing ‘Strictly’ to get to the end.
“But I also have a tremendous amount of respect for all the other contestants.
“Hopefully I’ll have fun too.
“I love commanding a stage and I love changing the shape of an audience, transporting and elevating them.”
The 53-year-old star insisted neither he nor his partner Chantal Brown are concerned about the so-called ‘Strictly’ Curse damaging their relationship.
He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “The ‘Strictly’ curse doesn’t concern me at all.
“I’m there to learn and that’s it. I respect the dancers and their ability. I want to do my best.
“Chantal is very supportive. She wants me to smash it. She is going to come and watch.
“She says, ‘go and have the best time. I want you to have an amazing experience’.”
The ‘When Will I Be Famous’ hitmaker isn’t worried about the programme’s gruelling rehearsal schedule either.
He said: “I do pilates, I swim and I box, plus the stamina of four shows a week is pretty incredible.
“I’ve got a tan from being in America, but I hear that fake tans are mandatory on ‘Strictly’ — and I’m up for it.”
One of the reasons why Matt signed up for the show is in honour of his beloved mother Carol, who died of cancer in 2014.
He said: “I feel highly observed by my mother. I say that with peace, I don’t say it from a sad place.
“I feel very observed from a much higher level. It’s a nice feeling to have this all-encompassing sense of observation from people you’ve lost.
“’Strictly Come Dancing’ is something I wanted to do for her and I would have loved to have shared it with her.”

Danny DeVito thinks he’s ‘better’ Penguin than Colin Farrell

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny DeVito thinks he was a “better” Penguin than Colin Farrell.
The 77-year-old actor portrayed the iconic villain – aka mobster Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobblepot – in 1992’s ‘Batman Returns’ opposite Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader, while the ‘In Bruges’ star took on the role in ‘The Batman’, going up against Robert Pattinson in the lead role.
While Danny thinks Colin is “terrific”, he believes he did a better job with the character.
Undergoing a lie detector test for Vanity Fair magazine, Danny’s daughter Lucy showed him a photo of Colin and asked: “What about this Penguin?”
He replied: “Oh, Colin? I love Colin. He’s a terrific guy. My Penguin was better.
“Was that the truth?”
After the person conducting the test confirmed: “You are telling the truth”, Danny added: “It certainly was. In my opinion. It’s my opinion. Good man, though. Colin’s a good guy.”
The ‘Twins’ star was also asked who he felt the best Batman was.
He pointed to Michael’s photo and said: “This is the Batman for me, yeah, Michael.”
Colin is set to reprise the role again in a standalone HBO Max series, but also admitted he’d jump at the chance to return for another movie with Robert and director Matt Reeves.
He said of the prospect: “Oh my god, you kidding me?! It’s so much fun, are you joking [with] me? I’ve been around the block man. That was an easy sport, I mean … it was a joy.
“Matt’s up to his b*******, you know, hovering over the keyboard and just planning the story because he’s just so meticulous.
“He’s so obsessive about what he does, but he’s all over [HBO Max’s] The Penguin [series] as well. I mean, he’s not gonna direct it but he’s all over the structure of the scripts and who’s gonna direct them. And so, it’s exciting.”

Hugh Bonneville loved his ‘different’ role in I Came By

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Bonneville loved doing something “slightly different” in ‘I Came By’.
The 58-year-old actor is best-known for playing the Earl of Grantham in ‘Downton Abbey’ – but Hugh relished the challenge of starring in the new Netflix film, which centres on a young graffiti artist who discovers a shocking secret.
Hugh told HeyUGuys: “I think it’s quite interesting to play someone who is clearly a member of the establishment. But actually, there’s more behind the eyes, so to speak.
“I think without being too heavy-handed, it’s a little eye-opener of the people at the top of society and what they … what they can get away with. They can get away with murder, so to speak.
“It was fun to play something that … you know, audiences have got used to seeing me in a big house with a labrador or a small house with a bear, so to play something that was slightly different was fun.”
Meanwhile, Hugh starred in ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ earlier this year, and he conceded that the movie marked the ideal time to end the series.
The veteran actor said: “I suspect, on a practical level, it’s run its course now. I think that was a good time to quit. I don’t know.
“I’m never gonna second guess the future, but did think for a while, actually, yeah, why not, let’s keep going. But I do think it could get a bit thin. I think the second film was such a joyous one and such a good note on which to end the story. And it does feel like it can end.
“There’s still open doors in it, but I think it might be the right time to stop.”

Navin Chowdhry joins the EastEnders cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Navin Chowdhry is joining the cast of ‘EastEnders’.
The 51-year-old actor has been cast as Nish Panesar in the BBC soap, and Navin’s first scene is set to air in autumn.
He said: “It’s been great – everyone has been lovely. My role at the moment has been focused around the Panesar family, but everyone has been extremely welcoming.”
Nish is emerging from a 20-year stretch behind bars, and he’s determined to exert his authority as soon as he arrives on screen.
Navin admits that working on the soap has been a “new experience”, and he’s promised to bring “drama” and “mayhem” to Albert Square.
He explained: “I’ve never worked on a show like ‘EastEnders’, so it’s been a new experience for me; but I loved the storylines and I’ve got a keen interest in this family because there’s so much happening at all times!
“Nish is an interesting character – slightly unconventional, and with that brings drama, and mayhem. I think there’s a good man under there but turmoil follows these guys [the Panesar’s] around so I’m excited to join in and set off a few more explosions and fireworks.”
Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer of ‘EastEnders’, is already looking forward to Nish’s arrival later this year.
Teasing his role on the soap, Chris said: “The spectre of Nish Panesar is finally here, and it’s been a pleasure welcoming Navin to the cast, and take to the role so effortlessly; he brings something to the character that none of us could’ve predicted. His dynamic on and off-screen, and we’re excited to see where his character develops as the story grows.”

Javon Walton would ‘love’ to work with Sylvester Stallone on another movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Javon Walton would “love” to work with Sylvester Stallone on another movie.
The 16-year-old actor starred alongside Hollywood legend Sylvester – who is best known for playing boxer Rocky Balboa in the ‘Rocky’ film series – in the new superhero movie ‘Samaritan’ and admitted that getting the chance to work with Sylvester was a “great” experience which he “wouldn’t trade for the world.”
He said: “How ‘Samaritan’ started for me was I was coming home from filming ‘Utopia’, and I did an audition and I ended up flying out to L.A. I met Sly at his house, which was super cool, and he wanted to see if he thought I was good for this role, and thankfully he did. So, that’s how it started. Working with Sly in general was just a lot of fun. If you ever talked boxing with him on set, it was truly something special, and I wouldn’t trade that for the world. I would love to work with him again in the future.”
The ‘Euphoria’ star plays 13-year-old Sam Cleary, who teams up with superhero Joe – played by Sylvester – after taking a job to support his struggling mother, played by former ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress Dascha Polanco, who also gushed about getting the chance to work with Sly.
In the joint interview, she told ScreenRant: “: I think it’s a great thing when you look up to an actor as iconic as Sly, and you get to work with him and he’s such a great, present, generous individual on set. You can’t prepare for that. With Sly and the movie and how it was written, I must say that I’m ready for the second part! So, definitely a great time and a great person to work with.”
‘Samaritan’ is streaming now on Prime Video.
