Rian Johnson is ‘even more proud’ of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson is “even more proud” of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ five years on from the film’s release.
The 48-year-old director helmed the middle part of the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy and reflects on his time behind the camera with pride, even though the 2017 flick divided fans of the popular sci-fi franchise.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Rian said: “I’m even more proud of it five years on. When I was up at bat, I really swung at the ball.”
The ‘Knives Out’ filmmaker added: “I think it’s impossible for any of us to approach ‘Star Wars’ without thinking about it as a myth that we were raised with, and how that myth, that story, baked itself into us and affected us.
“The ultimate intent was not to slip away – the intent was to get to the basic, fundamental power of myth. And ultimately I hope the film is an affirmation of the power of the myth of ‘Star Wars’ in our lives.”
The end of ‘The Last Jedi’ sees the death of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as he becomes a symbol of hope against evil across the galaxy and Rian felt that it was a moment where the franchise could look to the future.
He explained: “The final images of the movie, to me, are not deconstructing the myth of Luke Skywalker, they’re building it, and they’re him embracing it.
“They’re him absolutely defying the notion of, ‘Throw away the past’ and embracing what actually matters about his myth and what’s going to inspire the next generation.
“So for me, the process of stripping away is always in the interest of getting to something essential that really matters.”

James Gunn has a list of actors that he won’t work with

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn keeps a list of actors that he will never work with.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director revealed during a Q and A on Twitter that he keeps a “long list” of stars that he won’t collaborate with and has no qualms about recasting “a*******”.
James tweeted: “If it’s their temperament and it’s serious, I’ll immediately recast.
“Life’s too short for a*******. Same if they’re repeatedly very late, which I hate, or unprepared. I have a long list of actors, A-list and otherwise, I’ll never work with for these reasons.”
Gunn revealed that he is willing to work with a performer if they give their all and will only make casting changes if the quality of the film would be “harmed”.
He wrote on the social media platform: “But if it’s performance related, and they’re putting their all into it, I’ll do everything on my end to make it work until it’s absolutely clear the quality of the project will be perceivably harmed if we don’t recast. This can happen with really talented actors who just don’t fit.”
James explained that he always does due diligence on potential cast and crew members and refuses to hire “jerks”.
The 56-year-old filmmaker explained: “I always do due diligence on actors and production heads with directors, actors, producers and crew members I trust.
“If it checks out they’re jerks (not just cranky or curmudgeons but actual jerks) or irresponsible I don’t hire them. Some actors I already know never to even consider.”
James also revealed that he has a strong bond with the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ cast members.
He wrote: “I’m very attached to the ‘Guardians’ cast. Some of them are among my best friends in the world. But I’m even more attached to the ‘Guardians’ characters, and that’s what gets me emotional while writing.”

Danica Taylor and Jamie Allen become first Love Island 2022 couple to split

OHMYGOSSIP — Danica Taylor and Jamie Allen have reportedly become the first couple from the 2022 series of ‘Love Island’ to split.
The pair are said to have broken up after Danica, 21, was pictured kissing TOWIE’s Roman Hackett, 20, on Saturday (27.08.22) even though she was in a relationship with 27-year-old footballer Jamie.
A source told MailOnline on Wednesday (31.08.22): “Danica and Jamie have gone their separate ways.
“They were yet to make their relationship official but have decided that they didn’t quite work together romantically.
“Jamie has just signed for a new football team and Danica is busy pursuing endless opportunities after leaving the ‘Love Island’ villa and they sadly drifted apart.
“They’re good friends still and will continue to support each other in everything they do.”
A source close to Danica added to MailOnline Danica and Roman are now “just friends” and there is nothing romantic between them.
Dancer Danica struggled to find love on the ITV2 dating series but got together with Jamie during the final weeks and they only narrowly missed making it to the final.
But she was seen kissing Roman, appearing in the current series of ‘The Only Way is Essex’, on Saturday morning after he dropped her off at a train station.
The former couple are yet to comment publicly on their apparent split, with MailOnline noting they have not posted about each other on Instagram from the start of this month.
Their few images together include a photoshoot for OK! magazine and a still from their ‘Love Island’ exit marked: “Goodbye Jamie and Danica!”, on the footballer’s Instagram feed.
When they left ‘Love Island’, Danica said the “salon” – code used by this year’s cast for intimate acts – was “fully open” to Jamie.
The footballer this week used Instagram to announce he has signed with AFC Telford United, while Danica has kept busy attending celebrity events in London and promoted brands online including Pretty Little Thing.
She built a ‘Love Island’ fanbase due to her resilience in finding a partner after she was rejected by Luca Bish, Jay Younger, and Billy Brown.
Danica – who posts various modelling shots on her Instagram feed – was seen having a meltdown in one episode after Billy failed to pick her during a game of ‘Marry, Snog or Pie’, despite them being in a couple.
She cried: “Once again I am back in the same situation, and I don’t want to get upset but I’m literally sick of it because I’m like what? Why?
“Why don’t I deserve that? I don’t understand. Not one person genuinely wants to get to know me romantically. I just don’t understand.”

Davina McCall rules out Big Brother return

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall has ruled out a return to ‘Big Brother’.
The 54-year-old star – who was the host for the show’s original run on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 – is fully supportive of the upcoming ITV2 reboot of the reality show and though she will always love the programme, she doesn’t think she’s the right person to take the helm.
Asked about the possibility, she told RadioTimes.com: “Oh, I mean, I love that programme with all of my heart.
“It made me who I am today. I had the best 11 years of my life, like all my babies were practically born on the show.
“All my babies were born in September because I couldn’t give birth during ‘Big Brother’ and I planned them all so I had my babies in September. All their birthdays are coming up now.
“So whoever does it… I will be supporting it with every fibre in my body. But I don’t think it’s me.”
While Davina doesn’t want to be part of the new show, she would love to see her fellow ‘Masked Dancer’ judge Oti Mabuse enter the house if the celebrity version of the programme also comes back.
She said: “ITV2 get on this, did you hear that? Oti is going in. Fancy another one?”
It was recently claimed producers are keen to land ‘Love Island’ star Maura Higgins for the job.
A source said: “Producers are determined to distance themselves from former Big Brother names but the former favourite, Mo Gilligan, is now busy in the States.
“Now bosses are looking at female stars who have the strength to hold the show together, while also the warmth to gently quiz contestants in the way that Davina McCall and Emma Willis did so well. Maura is a homegrown ITV talent who has all that – plus of course looks great on screen.”

Ana de Armas unsure why Blonde is rated NC-17

OHMYGOSSIP — Ana de Armas doesn’t “understand” why ‘Blonde’ has been rated NC-17.
The 34-year-old actress portrays the late Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming Netflix movie and she admitted she was baffled when the film received the classification – meaning it shouldn’t be watched by anyone aged 17 or under – because there are so many other “way more explicit” films out there.
She told Lofficiel USA magazine: “I didn’t understand why that happened. I can tell you a number of shows or movies that are way more explicit with a lot more sexual content than ‘Blonde’.”
However, Ana acknowledged it was important for the movie – which is based on a novel by Joyce Carol Oates – had to “go to uncomfortable places” to tell Marilyn’s story properly.
She added: “But to tell this story it is important to show all these moments in Marilyn’s life that made her end up the way that she did. It needed to be explained. Everyone [in the cast] knew we had to go to uncomfortable places. I wasn’t the only one.”
The ‘Knives Out’ star insisted she had to do more than just “imitate” the screen icon in her performance.
She said: “My job wasn’t to imitate her. I was interested in her feelings, her journey, her insecurities, and her voice, in the sense that she didn’t really have one.”
The Cuban-born star had never seen any of Marilyn’s movies growing up so she is “proud” director Andrew Dominik had faith she could pull off the role.
She said: “I didn’t grow up knowing Marilyn or her movies.
“I am proud to have Andrew’s trust and the chance to pull it off. I feel like whether you’re a Cuban or an American actress, anyone should feel the pressure.”

Shia LaBeouf joins Megalopolis cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Shia LaBeouf has joined ‘Megalopolis’.
The 36-year-old actor has been added to the cast of ‘The Godfather’ director Francis Ford Coppola’s forthcoming passion project, alongside Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter and James Remar.
This comes after it was revealed Aubrey Plaza is expected to appear alongside Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne in the motion picture.
Last September, the filmmaker admitted he is willing to fork out more than $100 million to make the movie, which has been in the pipeline for decades, and was said to want Oscar Isaac, Cate Blanchett, Zendaya, and Michelle Pfeiffer for the motion picture.
He said at the time: “I’m committed to making this movie, I’d like to make it in the fall of 2022.
“I don’t have all my cast approved, but I have enough of them to have confidence that it is going to be a very exciting cast. The picture’s going to cost $100 million to $120 million. Needless to say, I hope it’s closer to $100 million.
“I’m prepared to match some outside financing, almost dollar for dollar. In other words, I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is.”
The movie takes place in a modern city but the origins of the story are in Ancient Rome.
The 83-year-old director said: “This film I want to make, I believe is an exciting change from the kinds of movies being offered to the public.
“Mainly because it puts forward a fundamental message that it’s time for us to consider the society we live in isn’t the only alternative available to us. And that a utopia isn’t so much a little experiment place in the country; a utopia is a discussion of people asking the right questions on just that subject, and if the society we’re living in is the only alternative or, if for the sake of young people, there are better choices that should be discussed.
“Hopefully that is the influence I dream of this movie having. And for that reason I am willing and capable of investing at a high number, to make it come true. I’m putting together the means of doing that.”

The former ‘BBC Breakfast’ presenter was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, but sadly lost his fight against the disease on Wednesday (31.08.22), passing away at his home surrounded by his family.
A statement from his family said: “Following a challenging and committed fight against prostate cancer, Bill passed away peacefully at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family on Wednesday, 31st August.
“Bill was diagnosed in 2017 and has had outstanding medical care from the Royal Marsden and Ipswich Hospitals, St Elizabeth Hospice and his GP.
“He was resolutely positive and was hugely buoyed by the support he received from friends, colleagues, and messages from people wishing him luck. It was a great comfort to Bill that so many more men are now testing earlier for this disease.
“Bill will be remembered by many as a remarkable broadcaster who brought warmth and humour into people’s homes on BBC Breakfast and Classic FM.
“He was also a devoted Wycombe Wanderers fan and an ever-aspiring beekeeper. Bill was a wonderful husband and father to his three children; his family and friends will miss how he always made them laugh, and the generosity and love he shared with those around him.

Kate Garraway broke toe in intensive care

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway broke her toe while running through intensive care.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter has been wearing trainers under her desk while co-hosting the ITV show of late, and revealed she suffered the injury inside a hospital.
Speaking on the show, she said: “I whacked my foot on one of those tables. I was in absolute agony.
“But everyone around me was so ill, I had to pretend, ‘No, I’m fine!’ Because I felt so guilty.
“So I said nothing and went to the toilet and cried.”
Kate’s husband Derek Draper has been back in hospital recently.
He was struck down with coronavirus in 2020 and spent 13 months in hospital, mostly in intensive care, before being allowed home, where he has been receiving 24/7 care. The virus inflicted lasting damage to his organs.
Last month, it was reported the 54-year-old former political advisor had been taken into hospital for a “serious medical procedure”.
A source said at the time: “This is another hammer blow for poor Derek.
“He is giving the fight against COVID his absolute all, but his kidneys have suffered some pretty serious damage.
“Doctors explained there was no alternative but to operate. Of course, Kate and the family are worried but she’s been reassured the procedure itself is routine.
“Everyone has everything crossed, and Kate is being her usual stoical self and keeping everything running, business as usual, on the home front.”
Kate – who has been married to Derek since 2005 and has kids Darcey, 16, and Billy, 13, with him – recently admitted she has wondered how much her of her “fight” to keep her husband alive is “about herself”.
Speaking to Hollie Battersbee – who previously fought to keep her 12-year-old son Archie alive after a court appeal to keep his life support turned on was rejected, and he later died after it was switched off – Kate said: “I’ve got a couple of things to ask you that are a little bit based from my own experience, which I want to stress, particularly for Derek’s family who might be watching, is very different from yours.
“Mercifully I’ve not had to have the conversations with doctors about discussions of turning off the life support machines, and Derek’s brain stem has never been affected in the way that poor Archie’s had.
“But I have had to have conversations in my own head with myself sometimes when Derek was in a coma and in a state of minimum consciousness, about how much my frenzy to fight for him and to check every possible option was about me and my needs and how much was about him.”

Jason Bateman to star with Taron Egerton in Carry On

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Bateman has joined Taron Egerton in the cast of ‘Carry On’.
The 53-year-old actor is set to star in the thriller from Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Productions that will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
The movie centres on Ethan Kopek – a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveller to allow a dangerous package to slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight.
Sources close to the film say that Jason will be playing the mysterious traveller.
TJ Fixman wrote the original draft of the screenplay and Michael Green has completed the latest polish.
Dylan Clark will produce while Holly Bario – Amblin’s president of production – will oversee on behalf of the studio.
Insiders had previously suggested that Taron wanted to star in the movie as soon as he had read the script and has forged a good working relationship with Collet-Serra.
Bateman has worked with Netflix on the hit series ‘Ozark’, in which he has both directed and starred in as Marty Bryde, and has explained how he loves the thrill of being behind the camera.
He said: “The acting part is less interesting for me only because that’s the part that’s obviously most familiar and most comfortable.
“So, it is the camera work that is everything to me. I will do a lot of work on my own to create every image that we end up doing.
“I have everything worked out in my head as far as where the actors will walk, where they sit, where they’ll talk, or where the cameras are going to be – all the images. [I do this so I can] discover the best way for the visuals to amplify – or the opposite, offset – what the scene is about.”

Love Island’s Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri reveal meaning of their matching tattoos

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ stars Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri say their new matching rose tattoos “mean a lot” to them.
The pair – who got together on the latest season of the ITV2 dating competition – explained their new floral inkings have a huge significance to them, because they see the design as “a sign” of their relationship.
Speaking on Tasha’s YouTube channel, the 27-year-old reality star said: “When we were in the villa we were talking what we’d like for our final date and Tasha actually said, ‘I’d love a hotel room where you come in and there are like loads and loads of roses, and this was before our date.
“And then anyway, obviously our date happened and we had literally thousands of roses and it was kind of like a sign.
“Obviously that is a massive part of it and then obviously when we had your birthday, I got you 100 roses and it became a thing of what it means to me and Tasha. It means a lot to both of us.”
Tasha – who was inked underneath her cochlear implant – says the flower is a “staple” of their union.
The 23-year-old model said: “I think the rose is just a staple of our relationship.
“I think every relationship has something that is meaningful to them and that’s what is for me and you. So we’ve both just said lets just get matching tattoos, why not? At least it wasn’t our names or initials.”
Andrew – who got himself in hot water after his antics with Coco Lodge during the show’s Casa Amor stage, while Tasha recoupled with Billy Brown – thinks he’ll be with Tasha “forever”, so he doesn’t have regrets about his tattoo.
He said: “I’m quite confident that I am going to be with this girl forever, so it’s all good.”

Richard Hammond ‘surprised’ James May’s ‘limbs didn’t just fall off’ after his car crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond is “surprised” James May’s limbs “didn’t just fall off” after his dramatic crash while filming ‘The Grand Tour’.
The former ‘Top Gear’ star joked his 59-year-old co-star is “held together with bits of cotton and sponge” in the aftermath of his collision – which required him being rushed to hospital and happened while they were recording a stunt in Norway for their Amazon Prime Video show along with their fellow co-host Jeremy Clarkson, 62.
The 52-year-old broadcaster told The Sun newspaper: “It was a moment of singular lack of judgment on James’ part. He’s not that well strapped together.
“He once told me, ‘Hammond, exercise makes you stupid’, so he doesn’t do any at all.
“He’s sort of held together with bits of cotton and sponge. So it was a hell of an impact. It’s pretty dramatic. And I was surprised that all his limbs didn’t just fall off.”
Richard admitted it is “interesting” that James – who is nicknamed Captain Slow by him and Jeremy – has joined him in getting involved in crashes, after Richard was involved in serious smashes in 2006 and in 2017.
He said: “It is interesting that James is taking up the crashing, because when he joined ‘Top Gear’ I was always wearing really vibrant loud shirts.
“And then James joined and did the same and I thought, ‘Well, we can’t both do that.’ So I stopped. I just wore ordinary shirts.
“And then he’s recently grown a little goatee. And now he’s taken the only thing I had left, which was crashing.
“It’s very flattering that he would consider that level of impersonation, but I’ll let him have that.”
James insisted the incident was a “strange lapse of character”.
He said: “It was a strange lapse of character on my part. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was trying to win, but I don’t normally care about that either. Maybe it was too much reindeer meat. Or air pressure.
“But it’s still going to be mainly Richard Hammond. When I have a crash, I destroy a car that’s worth £15,000.
“When Hammond has a crash he writes off a £1 million prototype. That’s the difference – I know not to overdo it.”

Russell Crowe to lead cast of Sleeping Dogs

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Crowe is to star in the crime-thriller ‘Sleeping Dogs’.
The 58-year-old actor will play a former homicide detective tasked with re-examining a brutal murder case from his past in the film that marks the directorial debut of Adam Cooper.
The movie is an adaptation of the acclaimed novel ‘The Book of Mirrors’ by E.O. Chirovici with Cooper and Bill Collage writing the script together.
Crowe will play Roy Freeman, a man undergoing cutting-edge treatment for Alzheimer’s who is forced to grapple with the impact of an investigation from his former life as a death row inmate he arrested a decade previously proclaims his innocence.
As he fights to regain his memory, Freeman enlists his former partner to help him revive the case and find out the truth. Together, they unravel a tangled web of secrets that forces Freeman to make some horrific discoveries.
Mark Fasano, president of Nickel City Pictures, will produce with Cooper, Collage and Pouya Shabazian. Principal photography is set to begin in January 2023.
Cooper said: “Our memory of the past is what gives us context for who we are. A character who is bereft in this capacity comes with a very complex kind of humanity – and there’s no one better at embodying complex characters than Russell Crowe.”
Fasano added: “Adam and Bill’s storytelling pedigree is really second to none and now, having the opportunity to work with Adam at the helm will be a truly exciting journey for us all.
“Russell Crowe is a serial award-winner, a master of his craft and perfectly cast in the challenging role of Freeman in this unique and prestigious project.”

Mark Wahlberg wants Conor McGregor to co-star in movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg wants Conor McGregor to star in one of his movies.
The 51-year-old actor revealed he would jump at the chance to feature the UFC star in one of his films, saying that he believes Conor, 34, has what it takes to make it in Hollywood.
When questioned on the Barstool Sports podcast ‘Pardon My Take’, about Conor previously challenging him to a fight, Mark said: “You know it’s funny because I was talking to Ari [Emanuel – Mark’s agent] and Dana [White – UFC President] when the whole thing was happening and they were just kind of joking around, throwing out some numbers and my son came up to me and he goes ‘Dad, don’t you dare. Don’t even think about it.’ My 16-year-old.
“I’ve been a huge of the UFC and I’m a huge fan of Conor. I think what he has been able to do for himself and the sport is fantastic. I think he was just frustrated because when WME bought the UFC, he was the one driving the business, so he was a little frustrated that guys were buying it and making money.
“I gotta get Conor to be in a movie. In the right movie, absolutely.”
Back in 2016, Mark was one of a number of high-profile people who bought shares in the UFC, when it was sold to Endeavor and in 2019, Conor challenged Mark to a fight over his own frustrations at not having a cut of the business.
He tweeted: “I’ve decided to challenge Hollywood actress Mark Walhberg next. A fight for all the shares.
“I’ll smack him and his four brothers around. It wouldn’t be the first crew of brothers I’ve smacked around.
“Check the history books. The UFC history books.”

Nathalie Emmanuel ‘always wanted to star in a horror movie’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nathalie Emmanuel has always been “eager” to star in a horror movie.
The 33-year-old actress plays a starring role in ‘The Invitation’ – a new gothic horror movie – and Nathalie admits that it’s something she’s been keen to do for years.
She shared: “I’ve always been really interested in trying my hand at all kinds of genres. It was something I hadn’t done before and I was so eager to try.”
The movie was shot in Budapest and Nathalie admits that she found it to be an exhausting experience.
She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I mean, practically, playing sheer terror and trauma is very, very tiring. It’s a useful sensation though, because though you feel like there’s nothing left; you have to keep pushing through. And that’s true of when you’re a character trying to survive a horror!”
‘The Invitation’ centres on the issues of power structures and oppression, and Nathalie also relished the experience of working with director Jessica M Thompson.
The actress felt like she could relate to the film and its themes, too.
Nathalie – who previously starred in ‘Game of Thrones’ – shared: “I was taken with how the script looked at race, power and class and how all of those things intersect.
“These people are at the of top of that power structure, being very wealthy, being white, being mostly men. Evie, being a biracial working-class woman, is immediately placed in a situation where she is ill at ease.
“For me, as a woman of colour, who also didn’t come from wealth, I immediately connected with that, and used how I navigate spaces that weren’t necessarily made, or designed for me, to get into the role.”
